The spectrum Home Stay, a plantation resort, is located at bout 10 kilometers from the heart of Chikmagalur and is surrounded by coffee estates and other independent residential houses.

The package offered at the Spectrum Home Stay includes the following:
Meals i.e. breakfast, lunch & dinner is offered as a part of the package. Meal timings are given below.
Breakfast = 07:00 am to 09:00 am
Lunch = 12:30 pm to 14:00 pm
Dinner = 19:30 pm to 21:30 pm
The Home Stay package starts with the lunch on the check in/ arrival day and ends with a breakfast on the departure day. Meals which are a part of the package are complimentary
If you order any extra meals other than the mentioned menu they are chargeable.
The check-out time is 11 am.

Bagnath Temple: Bageshwar gets its name form this ancient temple of Lord Shiva set in the heart of the town. According to mythological legends, sage Markandey lived here and the place was visited by Lord Shiva in the form of Bagh or tiger.

Chandika Temple: This beautiful shrine of Goddess Chandika attracts large number of devotees during the holy Navratras.

Shri Haru Temple: This important shrine lies about 5 kms from Bagheswar. It is believed that the wishes. of the devotees are fulfiled here. A large fair is held here on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi.

Gauri Udiyar: The sacred site is 8 kms from Bageshwar and has a large cave enshrining idols of Lord Shiva.

Other important shrines in and around Bageshwar are - Ram Ghat temple, Agnikund temple, Nileshwar temple, Kukuda Mai temple, Shitla Devi temple, Trijugi Narayan temple, Hanuman temple, Nileshwar Dham, Swarg Ashram, Ramji temple, Loknath Ashram, Ashram of Amitji, Jwala Devi temple, Veni Mahadev temple, Radha Krishna temple, Bhileshwar Dham, Suraj Kund, Siddartha Dham, Gopeshwar Dham, Golu temple and Praktishwar Mahadev.

Baijnath (26 kms): This historical and pilgrim site on Gwaldam motor road is set on the banks of river Gomti in Katyuri valley. It was once the capital of Katyuri dynasty and the ancient temples here stand in testimony of the erstwhile era.

Kanda (25 kms): The charming site on Bageshwar Chaukori road is a nature lover's delight. Nearby is an ancient temple of Bhadrakali.

Vijaypur (30 kms) : It affords panoramic views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks.

Pindari Glacier: This world famous glacier is situated in the Pinder Valley at an altitude of 3353 mts. between the Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot mountains.

Pindari Glacier Trek: The base camp is at Song which can be reached by road from Bageshwar (36 kms), Almora (109 kms), and Kathgodam (199 kms). After that one has to trek 45kms upto zero point (Pindari Glacier).

Sunderdhunga Glacier - Sunderdhunga or the 'valley of beautiful stones' is slso located in the Pindar region. The glacier offers a tough trek as compared to Pindari and Kaphini.

Keibul Lamjao National Park

Keibul Lamjao National Park is located at about 48 kilometers away from Imphal, in the Bishnupur district of Manipur state in north eastern India. The National Park is about 40 square kilometers in area and is the only floating park in the whole world. The Keibul Lamjao National Park forms an integral part of Loktak Lake of Manipur. The greenery of the area and the moderate climate in the Park makes it a pleasant surprise and an interesting option for a family vacation.

Loktak Lake is a fresh water lake which is also called as the floating lake because of the floating decomposed plant materials called phumdis in the local language. As this National Park is the natural refuge of the endangered Manipur Eld's Deer / Brow antlered Deer and Sangai also known as the Dancing Deer, this was declared as a Sanctuary in the year 1966. Later the Sanctuary got declared as the National Park in 1977.

The National Park is a swamp which was established by Mann Sharma with floating mass of vegetation. More than two thirds of the park area is formed by Phumdis . There is a water way which passes through the park gives you access through out the year . Boats plying through the lake to the Pabot Hill in the north of the Keibul Lamjao National Park. The swamp which forms the National Park contains three hills namely Pabot, Toya and Chingjao. During monsoon season these hills give refuge to the large mammals.

Apart from the Brow antlered deer there are many other species which are found here some of them are , Hog Deer, Wild boar, Jungle cat, Fox, Bamboo Rat, flying fox, Sambar Musk shrew etc. You can also find amphibians and reptiles like Viper, Krait, Cobra, Asian Rat snake, python,Tortoise and many more. You can also find bird species in this park like Kingfisher, Hill Mynah, North Indian Black Drongos, Indian White-breasted Water hen and Crimson-breasted pied wood pecker and many more.

How to reach Keibul Lamjao National Park?

Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, is the nearest airport. The airport is connected with New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. These three airports are connected with almost all the cities in India. The Imphal airport is placed at the heart of the city and you can easily get cabs to reach the National Park.

Nagaland and Manipur State transport buses operate from the towns of Aizwal, Dimapur, Itanagar, Kohima, Shillong and Agartala to the National Park. These buses ply every day and the tariff per seat is Rs 75 to Rs 250. The travel in a bus from Dimapur to Imphal requires approximately 8 hours.

Imphal does not have a railway station. The nearest one to Manipur is at Dimapur which is located at about 215 kilometers and will take about 8 hours of bus journey to reach Imphal. Guwahati , is the next railway station and is located at about 414 kilometers from Imphal.
Trains to Guwahati are available from various parts of India namely, Kanyakumari , Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi etc.

Andhra Pradesh usually known with the abbreviation AP is one of the 28 states and the fourth largest by area in India. Hyderabad is the capital city. The Tiger Reserve is surrounded by forests on three sides, that is west, north, south and villages on the east. Agasthya Malai, the third highest peak in South India is located on the core zone of the Reserve.

The Kalakad-Mundathurai Tiger Reserve forms a catchment area of 14 streams and rivers, some among them are Tambraparani, Manimuthar, Servalar, Kallar, Kodaiyar,Rama Nadi, Kadnar, Pachaiar. Many of these rivers form the backbone of the water supply in the Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi / Tuticorin and the part of Kanyakumari districts. Seven Major Dams have been constructed over some these rivers, namely Karaiyar, Lower Dam, Servalar, Manimuthar, Ramanadi, Kadna Nadi and Kodaiyar

The Tiger reserve is located at a range of altitude of 40 meters to 1800 meters and the highest point Agasthya malai at about 1681 is found in the middle of the Tiger Reserve. Kalakad-Mundathurai Tiger Reserve actually is an inter state one since it connects Tamil Nadu and Kerala

There are about 150 endemic plants . fishes, reptiles, mammal species, amphibians and birds. As per the 1997 census, there are 73 tigers and 70 leopards along with many Jungle Cats, Nilgiri tahrs,

Kalakad is well known for Lion tailed monkeys, Elephants and the waterfals. The area is also called as Karungal Desam and Thenga Uruli.

Accommodation facilities are available at the Kalakad-Mundathurai Tiger Reserve in the shape of dormitory style cottage which gets maintained by the Forest Department. The Tiger Cottage, as it is named, has a rest room and a few double deck beds. Ample parking place is available for the Cars and Jeeps of the visitors. There is a river flowing by the rear of the cottage and you can have a wonderful experiance staying the night there. There is a kitchen also which serves tasty food for the visitors.

How to Reach Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve?

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, in the state of Kerala, is the nearest airport located at about 200 kilometers from Mundanthurai and about 140 kilometers from Kalakad.

Madurai Domestic Airport, in the state of Tamil Nadu is at about 200 kilometers from Mundanthurai and 210 kilometers from Kalakad. Madurai Airport is easily connected from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad , Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode airports

If you are travelling by rail, Tirunelveli Railway station is the nearest at about 50 kilometers from Mundanthurai and about 45 kilometers from Kalakad.

Nilgiri Mountain Railway
The Nilgiris Toy train or the Blue Train as it is called connects Mettupalayam at the foot of the hills to Ooty / Ootacamund which isplaced at an altitude of 2600 meters. The plans were drawn in the year 1854 to build a railway from Mettupalayam to the top of the hills at Ooty but the first train chugged up only about 45 years later. The blue and cream coloured train gets hauled up the hills by steam engines which were designed by Swiss Locomotive works.
The Line is about 46 kilometers long and takes about 4 1/2 hours to climb up the hills. The stations Kallar, Adderly, Hill Grove, Runnymede and Kateri till Coonoor, then Wellington, Aruvankadul, Ketti and Lovedale after which it reaches Ooty. Fren hill , one of the stations was closed down some years back.
The track passes through 208 curves and 13 tunnels. You can enjoy taking pictures, a few shots of the via duct between Kallar and Adderly stations. The train runs across tall girder bridges and over green hills before it gets in to the tea plantations to give the best of the sceneries on the way.

Kashmir Railway is an ongoing project in the subcontinent of India. Since 1983 , the construction of the railway has started, after getting kicked off by the then Prime Minister of India, Smt Indira Gandhi.
The one leg for about 53 kilometers is from Jammu to Udhampur, which has been completed in April 2005. The next leg for about 25 kilometers is from Udhampur to Katra is under construction and expected to open in 2013. The third one is also under construction and is expected to be over by 2017. The last leg from Qazigund to Baramulla has been completed since 2009.

Matheran Hill Railway is located in the state of Maharashtra of India. Abdul Hussein Adamjee Peerbhoy built the hill Railway with financial help by his fatherSir Adamjee Peerbhoy of the Adamjee Group. As Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy visited Matheran often, he wanted a Railway connection to Matheran so that it would be easier for him to travel.
The construction of the Matheran Hill railway took place between 1900 and 1907. and the Engineer was Everard Calthorp of the Barsi Light Railway. Neral which is placed between Mumbai and Pune was the starting point and covered a distance of about 20 kilometers. The route was through a large forest territory of the Western ghats near Karjat and Mumbai.
There is a 2 feet narrow gauge line running parallel to the Broad gauge line to the west of the Hardal Hill, which turns eastwards to climb hills to reach Matheran. he Railway is generally closed during monsoons due to the fear of landslides in the earlier days but was kept open in the later times, mainly from 1980. Only once the railwa had to closed that is in 2005 because of the flood damage and reopened again in the year 2007.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway runs from Siliguri to Darjeeling for about 88 kilometersin the state of West Bengal and is operated by Indian railways. The elevation level of this most highly esteemed mountain railway is from 100 meters at Siliguri steadily increases to 2200 meters at Darjeeling, but inbetween it reaches to 2300 meters at Ghoom.
Siliguri was connected to the present Kolkata in 1878 and then travel to Darjeeling by Tongas / horse driven carts along a dusty track. Now after building the railway lines, the Railway carries passengers and cargo regularly. The Line consists of 4 loops and 4 zigzags. The lines underwent major improvements and modernizations after the earthquake in 1897. This was the first mountain railway to be recognized by the UNESCO committee.

Kalka Shimla Railway
Kalka Shimla Mountain Railway is a Narrow Gauge Railway in the North West India, connecting Kalka and Shimla taking you through the hills and the surrounding villages to give you breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Shimla is located at the foot of the Himalayas and was developed as a major base forthe British. Shiml became the summer capital of the Bitish India in 1864. The construction started in 1898 and got completed in 1903.

The Route from Kalka which is about 96 kilometers long starts from Taksal, Gummen, Koti, Sonwara,Dharampur, Kumarhatti, Barog, Solan, Salogra, Kandaghat, Kanoh, Kathleeghat, Shoghi, Taradevi, Jutogh, Summerhill and the Shimla.

Originally there were 107 tunnels were there but later on some of them were discarded and now only 102 are in use. the longest tunnel is in Baro. The track has 864 bridges and via ducts.

The Golden Temple of Amritsar also known as Harmandir Sahib is a prominent Sikh Gurudwara which is located in the holy city in the state of Punjab. The Golden temple gets the name from the most famous golden dome of the temple. This is one of the most famous and sacred pilgrim centers of the Sikh community.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh built the temple on a 67-ft square of marble and is a two storied one. The Maharaja Ranjit singh seems to have built the upper half of the building with about 400 kg of gold leaf.

Guru Ramdas who was the fourth Guru has constructed the pool here and founded the city of Amritsar. Sage Valmiki is said to have written the most famous epic of Ramayana and it is also said that Rama and Sita spent their 14 year exile period in this area.

There are many other temples located in around Harmandar Sahib like Durgiana Temple. There is a garden in the south part of the Harmandar Sahab, the tower of Baba Atal
Guru Ka Langar is a communal canteen, it provides free food irrespective of caste creed or religion.

The guru ka langaar offers free food for about 20000 people in a day and sometimes the number shoots upto 1 lakh particularly during the festivities. Devotees from other castes are allowed inside the temple, only that they have to cover their head and remove their footwear before entering the temple.

Granth Sahib their sacred scripture is kept in the temple only during the daytime, in the night it is kept on the Akal Takht or the Eternal throne. Akal Takht also houses weapons used by the Sikh warriors over the years and Guru Hargobind Singh seems to have established it.

There is an old Jubi tree, planted about 450 years ago, in the north west corner of the compound and the tree is said to have special powers. Baba Buddha, the first ever priest of the Golden Temple, seems to planted the tree there in the compound.

It will be easier to visit the temples in the early mornings of the weekends. The temple will be less crowded at those times.

About Bandipur Tiger Reserve
Nugu, Kabini and the Moyar are the perennial rivers running through the reserve. Moyar forms the southern boundary and the Kabini irigation dam is between the Reserve and the Nagarhole National Park. Nugu river flows just about in the middle of the Tiger reserve which is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Wadli, Chammanahalla, Aidasanahattihalla, Hebballa, Warranchi, Chipparahalla and Mavinahalla are some of the streams flowing inside the Tiger Reserve.

Flora and Fauna at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve
Tiger, Panther are wild cats found in the Reserve. Other than these, wild dogs, spotted deers, sloth bear, Barking deer, Mouse Deer, Porcupine, Chital, Boars and Langurs are also found here.On the Flora available at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve, you can find, Dalbergia latifolia, Pterocarpus marsupium, Acacia Catechu, Grewia tiliaefolia, Amblica officianalis, Odina Wodiar, lagerstroemia lanceolata, Randia Uliginosa, Terminalia tomentosa, Cassia Fistula, Anogeisus latifolia, Terminalia chebula, Adina Cordifolia, Schleichera trijuga, Butea monosperma, Tectona Grandis, Dendrcalamus strictus, Bambusa arundinacea, Chloroxylon swetenia, Shorea talura and many more

How to reach Bandipur Tiger Reserve?
The nearest town is Gundulpet about 20 kilometers away and you can get all the necessary facilities there, lke medical, internet, post and telegraph.
The Bandipur Tiger reserve is located on the Mysore Ooty highway. Since it is easily accessible many tourists visit the place regularly. The trip just takes 2 1/2 hours drive on road from Mysore and about 3 hours drive from Ooty.
The nearest railway station is Mysore and is about 65 kilometers away.
The nearest international airport is Bangalore which is about 204 kilometers away from the Tiger reserve.

Accommodation facilities available at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve
There is an 80 bed accommodation facility is available at the Tiger reserve for the Tourists. Two safari buses are also available for the trip in to the Tiger reserve.
The authorities can provide reasonably priced lodges , rest houses, forest lodges as well as cottages. If you like to have a luxurious accommodation, sprawling deluxe bungalows are also available.
