Since the music and movie industry were hit hard by the internet bootleggers, most of the money is now being made in video games. This is not too say that video games are not shared online, but they are shared a bit less as people can not figure out how to make these copies playable on certain new systems. The PlayStation 3 even though it is one of the most popular systems out has virtually zero losses due to piracy. This makes video games the platform where most of the entertainment money is going to.

As the budgets and popularity of games increased, it has been noticeable that the games became prettier, bigger and badder over time. There are a few franchises such as Final Fantasy that have take this to another level. These releases always push the boundaries of the graphical abilities of the systems that they are on and have done so for over a decade. I have always liked this trend, but now that we are getting to the point that the graphics are almost as good as actual movies the challenging game play and fun has went out the window.

I remember playing the super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, still do from time to time, and this is due to the fact that these games are just great. I can still enjoy Mario or Sonic and even though the graphics do not have much in common with the current releases their replay ability and simplicity of controls is remarkable. We are still running around, completing missions, stealing cars and the only noticeable difference is the graphics. This mario game is damn fun. It's got Megaman, Contra guys, Samus from Metroid, Castlevania shit, and Zelda. These funky characters are all playable in the mario world. When combined, it's just 100% pure fun.

Nintendo 3DS at the E3

As you may or may not know, Nintendo is coming out with 3D gaming on the Nintendo 3DS.

One new aspect that they have announced at the E3 conference is that the Nintendo 3DS is able to take 3D pictures.

But how?

The Nintendo 3DS has not one, but TWO cameras at the back to take pictures like the human eye. This way they allow 3D capabilities in photography.

Another new feature in the 3DS is the fact that it allows for analog capabilities. They installed something called the slide pad, motion sensor, and gyro sensors. Wow!

The top screen now has a 3.5 inch display HD style for 3D movie viewing. Yes, I can't wait to watch Avatar in 3D on a 3DS!

Additionally, the 3DS will be downloading and updating content automatically so that you can play games and not worry about other stuff.

According to a few different gaming websites that I have browsed, gaming is actually SLOWER on the Mac compared to Windows systems.

Apple users are hitting another slump when playing games such as Portal and Killing Floor. According to several tests done on anadtech.com, Mac runs at 54% of the speed that Windows does for Portal. However, I believe that since Steam is expanding their target markets, they will address this problem.

At first, there was a problem for Portal where the game was blurry, however they patched that. But there are still issues with fogginess and blurriness for the game on Mac.

Starcraft 2 Beta Ends in 2 Weeks.

Have you been playing Starcraft 2 like I have?

The Starcraft 2 Beta is ending in 2 weeks (May 31st). Players have been having a good time playing this free multiplayer beta. It seems to me that the game has gone through a lot of fixes. The reason that blizzard is ending the beta is because they have to build more supply depots and upgrade their software and hardware to adjust to changes.

Don't worry though!! The Beta will come back in a few weeks time. They want players to keep testing the game for them prior to the release date.

In 2 Years... Gaming Will be 3D

In 2012, around 50% of all newer games created will be 3D-enabled. This would probably be enabled in gaming systems such as PS3 and XBOX360. Perhaps we may even see it on newer, more advanced systems that may come out in the future.

"Imagine this... but in 3D"

We know that 3D-gaming will be enabled on the Nintendo 3DS that has been officially announced. Ubisoft believes that half of the games they will be releasing will be in 3D. I don't know how they're going to do it, but I think that they may release new drivers for PC games and perhaps have add-ons for video gaming systems. This complication, I hope, will lead to better gaming. It will probably make me more dizzy on most games.

Too bad I don't trust Ubisoft, they just had a major $44 million net loss in their company. However, this 3D announcement will probably bring their financial problems back to normal.

Bonus: How I got 3D enabled games for free!

I have yet to play a REAL 3D-enabled game. However, I have modded my Call of Duty 5 to enable gaming in 3D using anaglyph glasses.

I used a driver called IZ3D. This driver is similar a gaming hack. It allows you to adjust your gaming so that it can support certain 3D glasses.

For the past 2 week's I have been playing this game. It is still quite unbalanced in my opinion because people can tech so fast and destroy you with a few ships. Also, some races like Zerg need to be balanced because they only have a few types of air units whereas Protoss is - ship domination.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - A Remake of a Classic

Sonic the Hedgehog is a classic game 2D fast-paced sidescrolling game that came out on Sega Genesis many many years ago. But now, some really awesome developers decided to remake this classic with better graphics.

There is a 7 minute video featuring the game play of this game.

From what it looks like, this footage is a remake of the level, Metropolis. The game play is essentially the same but it seems as if Sonic is now able to use a forward mid-air spinning attack. Pretty cool. Also, Super Sonic is back and he turns yellow while dashing extremely fast.

It also seems as if it has better graphics and much more exhilarating music. This game will be released on XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, and iPhone... and for some reason it will probably be on PC sooner or later.

Steam's New UI

Valve's Steam has been updated to a much sleeker UI. The first thing to note is that it is essentially the same thing and does everything the old steam does. The UI allows people to view the steam store easier and be able to access the community faster.

The above picture shows the new game's list. Next to each game now shows a little image of the title. I kind of found this unnecessary and wished to be able to turn it off so that I could see the games list in a smaller size. Maybe this function is available... I just haven't found it.

The news/community tabs are readily available above and is easily accessible to even the noobiest Steam users. This UI is really noob-proof!

One thing I dislike about this UI is that you can't adjust the size of the UI too much. Because I use a projector to play my games and start Steam games and stuff, the Steam UI just covers up my whole window on my 800x600 noobie resolution.

Takes up more than a 800x600 resolution!

The last important thing to note is that when you are in-game now and press shift+tab, that overlay UI is different too. They enhanced it and made it look much more complicated than it has to be. I liked what it was before. But hey, nobody likes change.

Zynga wants to leave Facebook.

As you all may know, Zynga, the popular company that owns the most popular games on Facebook, has over millions of players on their crazy games such as Farmville and Fishville. They have been highly successful with the help of Facebook because it connects everything and everyone together through the use of publishing your gaming on the News feed, which, your 500 friends could see.

Apparently, Facebook and Zynga had a hissyfit on negotiating credits and Facebook has shut off Zynga's feeds. Then some worker making 6 figures per year thought: Hey, lets leave Facebook and make our own social gaming site so we don't have to pay portions to Facebook! Lets call it "Zynga Live."

Sounds like a good idea...! But wait... I think they're probably gonna lose about 90% of their players if that happens.

Personally, I stopped playing Farmville because of it's nonsense addictive Farming. However, because i've played about every Zynga game, I think Facebook and Zynga need to get their shit together and be butt buddies again if they want to make money off each other. It's like... when you have a plate of spaghetti... the spaghetti will only taste good with a good sauce. Without the sauce, you won't be satisfied.

Anyways, who knows what may happen? Nobody likes change.

Currently, everyone is hyping over this game, my friends are talking about some random strats over Ventrilo its getting annoying. Anyways, the torture for those who don't have the beta key will be over ...... in around 2 long months.

Wonderking

Wonderking is a 2D sidescrolling MMORPG. With many similarities to the popular game, Maplestory, this game succeeds in reaping players through advertisements.

I played this game for a good three hours when I found it. I found it fun because the quests are never ending. When you finish one quest, you begin to worry about what quest may come next. Because of the overwhelming similarities to Maplestory, I didn't really see why I should play this game at all. I would've just stuck to Maplestory but the game has a few differences that can be noted.

The skill tree/ stats tree is really complex and noob-unfriendly. I didn't know if I should save skills first or if I should just go ahead and put all my points into the noob skills. I googled some guides and noticed that I did everything wrong.

You're allowed to PVP with other players in this game (but I haven't gotten to that point yet). Here is a video of a player doing some PVP action.

Other things to be noted:
- You can also purchase mining material and begin to find ores in the mine shafts located in some cities.
- You can learn to cook, do some housing, crafting, use mounts/vehicles.

Things I didn't like:
- I didn't really like the music and sound effects, they really bothered me :S.
- Also, the jumps annoyed me because you walk so slow... but you jump super fast with a double jump ability.
- I got bored from the game quickly because there was not much to do. The quests mainly consisted of you killing the monsters
- Lots of bugs to fix, but hey, the game is still in beta.

All in all, the game needs to develop much more before it can reach the popularity of Nexon's games.
