In case you don’t know where to go to flash your iPhone, just ask one of Cricket's friendly employees… According to their website:

Can I flash a phone to work on the Cricket network?
Yes, Cricket will activate any phone that’s been flashed to work on the Cricket network.
Cricket corporate stores currently do not flash phones to work on the Cricket network but many of the indirect dealer (both standard and premier) have the ability to flash a customer’s phone, and most corporate stores will be able to tell a customer where to go to have their phones flashed to Cricket. To find a list of store locations, click here.
If you choose to activate a non-Cricket phone on the Cricket network, there is a possibility that some of the phone features or service plan features may not operate. Additionally, flashed phones are not eligible for the Cricket Phone Replacement Program or Cricket Warranty Exchange Program. Not all phones are capable of being flashed to work on the Cricket network.
Share with your Friends!
Our sources indicate that Apple's iPad 2 will go on sale in USA on March 11, at 5:00 pm local time. As you may know, Apple announced the successor to the original iPad, that is the iPad 2 last week. iPad 2 boasts of a Dual-Core CPU that is twice as fast as that of the current iPad. The new graphics chips are ’9x faster’ too. Apart from that, iPad 2 features two cameras, one rear and one front facing.

According to Unwire.hk, this suspicious 64GB model has started selling in Sin Tak, the greatest grey market in Hong Kong, and the sellers claimed that these are engineered models and available in small quantity. Interestingly, the back of the phone states iPhone XXGB! That reminds us the leaked prototype last year, the one Gizmodo bought it. It also states the Model no. as XXXXX, and the FCC ID as BCG-XXXXXX. On the screen, you can see is indeed a 64GB capacity and the model is 995-6049LL. And the phone is not locked! Any ideas what’s going on here?

While we cannot vouch for the authenticity of these particular models, we can nonetheless verify that the “XX” on the back of iPhones generally represents Apple prototype models.

With Sony planning to release an ‘un-hackable’ PS3, it’s interesting to see that new holes are still being discovered in the console’s latest firmware. It’s even more interesting that Hervais doesn’t plan to release a working hack. Is Sony’s attack on George Hotz having an affect on the way the PS3 hacking scene works? Seem like it!
But which one is dominant depends on whether you look at operating systems or devices, according to new data from Nielsen.
Among mobile operating systems, Google's Android has surged into first place in the United States, grabbing 29 percent of the market, compared with 27 percent for Research In Motion's BlackBerry OS and 27 percent for Apple's iOS.
That left a 10 percent share for Microsoft's Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 combined, 4 percent for HP's Palm WebOS, and 2 percent for Nokia's Symbian

It's interesting to note that the popularity of Android, iOS, and BlackBerry OS didn't differ much across most age groups. However, those in the 18-24 range showed a somewhat higher preference for Android phones, according to Nielsen's numbers released this week.
The latest data shows a surge for Android from last summer when Nielsen pegged its market share at 19 percent versus 28 percent for iOS and 30 percent for the BlackBerry OS.
Having noted all that, taking a close look at the devices themselves, Nielsen found that Apple and RIM continue to be the major players in the U.S. compared with other manufacturers as they're the only ones making their own devices with their own operating systems. Their 27 percent market shares outshine third-place HTC, which has captured around 12 percent share with Android and 7 percent with Microsoft's mobile OS.
Motorola was the next manufacturer on the charts with 10 percent share with Android customers and 1 percent with Microsoft's mobile OS. Samsung followed with a 5 percent share with Android and 2 percent with Microsoft's OS.
Regardless of who's on top, the demand for smartphones continues to grow. In the last six months, 47 percent of consumers who picked up a mobile phone opted for a smartphone over a feature phone, according to Nielsen.
To compile its data, Nielsen surveyed more than 14,000 mobile subscribers from November 10 to January 11. As a result, the numbers don't factor in some of the recent developments in the mobile market, notably the debut of the Verizon iPhone.
As you can see the logo of Windows 8 looks quite familliar

Another interesting feature is the ability to log in using a Windows Live ID, with the ID’s display picture being shown in the redesigned system tray.
Chip maker Marvell, a Major Supplier to RIM, had a tough time in the quarter that ended January 29, with revenue down 6% (to $901 million) and net income down 13% (to $223 million) from the previous quarter; and all this in spite of the just ended Christmas season which is usually the peak time for smartphone sales. In view of the above, the company's shares dropped more than 11% on the news.
Marketwatch CEO Sehat Sutardja blamed the poor results on a switch by one of Marvell's customers toward building low-cost, low-margin smartphones- a market that Marvell does not supply. That customer is widely understood to be RIM.
RIM is facing pressure from lower priced smartphones that run Google's Android operating system. For all practical reasons, Android basically came out of nowhere in 2010 and surpassed RIM's global market share. Even though RIM grew in absolute numbers, it nonetheless fell to number three behind Android and leader Symbian (Nokia), according to Gartner.
Finally, RIM may be trying to capitalize on chaos at Nokia, which recently announced plans to switch its smartphone platform from Symbian to Windows Phone 7 over the next couple of years. Nokia sells a lot of inexpensive Symbian-based smartphones around the world, so perhaps RIM is looking at that market for expansion.
The release of iOS 4.2 was a watershed moment for the iPad, bringing features like multitasking and folders that made it a far more useful device than before. The iPhone got fewer new features in iOS 4.2, some of which have proven more useful than others; I use AirPlay almost every day to stream from my iPhone to my home theater system, but I used AirPrint once, then forgot about it. For the iPhone, iOS 4.3 brings even fewer marquee features to the device. These include:

AirPlay Enhancements: Get even more play out of AirPlay — the wireless technology that lets you stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your HDTV via Apple TV. In addition to music, movies, and photos, AirPlay now streams video from your Photos app. So you can shoot a home video and instantly share it with everyone in the room. Even AirPlay-enabled apps and websites get the big-screen treatment with iOS 4.3. And if your photos are the feature presentation, you can play a slideshow with all the stunning themes available on Apple TV.

Safari Performance: As you surf the web, your fingers will love the responsiveness of the new Nitro JavaScript engine powering Safari. It runs JavaScript up to twice as fast as in iOS 4.2. Which means you get more speed behind each page load. And sites with lots of interactive features can appear on your screen even faster.

iTunes Home Sharing: Now you can play your entire iTunes library from anywhere in the house. If it’s on your Mac or PC, you can play it on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch over a shared Wi-Fi network. And not just music. Watch a movie or TV show. Play a podcast. Or listen to an audiobook. On whichever device you want — without having to download or sync.

Personal Hotspot for iPhone 4: On the road, in an airport, at the park — now you can bring Wi-Fi with you wherever you go. Download iOS 4.3 on your iPhone 4, and the next time you find yourself without access to Wi-Fi but in 3G territory, enable Personal Hotspot and share your cellular data connection with your Mac, PC, iPad, or other Wi-Fi-capable device. You can share your connection with up to five devices at once over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB — with up to three of those connections using Wi-Fi. Every connection is password protected and secure. And it’s power friendly, too. iPhone detects when your Personal Hotspot is no longer in use and turns it off to save battery life.
If you enjoyed this post please re-tweet it!
As a matter of fact, this has led Samsung, purveyor of an Android 3.0 tablet by the name of Galaxy Tab 10.1, to look more closely at its own hardware and pricing model. In addition, according to executive VP Lee Don-Joo, Samsung has been forced to "improve the parts that are inadequate." We don't know what parts in particular, however he notes that "Apple made [the iPad 2] very thin" and also goes on to say that Samsung will be rethinking its pricing strategy with the Tab 10.1. It was originally going to cost more than the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, but in light of Apple's new product, Samsung might have to cut into its profit margins or maybe even forgo profits altogether to make its new Tab a success.

Ars Technica is reporting that AT&T has confirmed that the iPhone 4 will work with Apple’s new Personal Hotspot feature when it rolls out next Friday, March 11. Previously, the company’s official line was something along the lines of “we’re looking into it,” which made wireless tethering fans nervous recalling the excruciatingly long wait for the carrier to unlock wired tethering in the first place.

The good news is that Personal Hotspot will work on AT&T with the iOS 4.3 update, although you’ll have to be on the company’s DataPro 4GB for iPhone Tethering plan, which runs $45 per month. That gives you a 4GB data pool which you can use for tethering (wired or wireless) as well as your iPhone 4 3G, which the company recently doubled from the original 2GB to better compete against Verizon’s iPhone 4.

On the bad news front, if you were grandfathered into the iPhone 4 with your original unlimited 3G data plan at $30 per month, you won’t be able to take it with you. You’ll essentially be downgrading to the DataPro 2GB for iPhone plan at $25 per month, then adding $20 per month for an additional 2GB with tethering. If your data usage isn’t extreme, this is still a bargain, especially considering you’ll be able to use your iPhone 4 3G with an iPad, iPod touch or other Wi-Fi enabled device for the same $45 per month.

According to Ars Technica’s tests, Apple’s Personal Hotspot feature ran for three hours on only a 50 percent charge, and the website estimates it could get upwards of five or six hours on a full charge, which bests the standalone MiFi units which get a mere four hours -- not to mention having steeper monthly data rate plans in the first place.
In a word what kind of Safari speed improvements can you expect when iOS 4.3 rolls out? I think the word you're looking for is "moderate." Or maybe "incremental." Still, faster is faster, and this test over Wi-Fi shows that iOS 4.3 is a definite uptick.
The just released iOS 4.3 GM brings some extra perks to iPad users, namely: Multitouch Gestures. These gestures can be used to do variety of tasks such as three finger app switching, going back to the homescreen by simple pinching out on the app you’re running using your fingers etc. Want all this goodness on your iPhone 4? Just follow the guide posted after the break and you’ll have multitouch gestures up and running in no time.
Step 1: Jailbreak iOS 4.3 GM running on your iPhone 4.
Step 2: Once you’re jailbroken, launch Cydia and install OpenSSH.
Step 3: Now you’re going to SSH into your device (by using clients such as Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows), and then navigate to the following directory: System>Library>CoreServices>SpringBoard.app>N90.plist
Step 4: Using a plist editor such as TextWrangler, edit the N90.plist file.
Step 5: Add a Boolean statement “multitasking-gestures” and set its value to “True”.
Step 6: Save everything you’ve edited, restart the Springboard.
Step 7: That’s it, you’re all done! You should now see the Multitouch Gestures option in the Settings.app file on your iPhone 4. Just tap to turn it on.
However, at the moment the jailbreak is tethered; in other words you will have to boot it into jailbroken state every time you reboot.
Support for iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPod touches is on the way ! This sure is good news for it is a clear indication that iOS 4.3 will be jailbreakable from the very moment it goes public.
Canadian smartphone giant Research In Motion is working on bringing its popular BlackBerry Messenger service to users of both Android and iOS devices. According to BGR, RIM is looking at the success of copycat services such as WhatsApp and clearly feels that it should have a piece of the cross-platform instant messaging pie.

According to our sources, RIM has not yet finalized details surrounding timing or pricing, but we have heard that the company might make the software free to all users. We’re also told strategy is still being developed, however, and RIM may end up charging users a one-time fee or even a recurring fee for access to its BBM service on third-party platforms.
The real question here though is whether any potential fees coming in from new BlackBerry Messenger users could possibly outweigh the lost revenue from selling BlackBerry smartphones. As a matter of fact, if you ask any BlackBerry owner why they love their phones so much, they always point to BBM. The question then becomes, if BBM is available to the iPhone and Android devices would some BlackBerry loyalists jump ship in preference to iOS or Android devices?
However, this was blocked by Gordon Brown, Britain's former Prime Minister. Steve Jobs had been nominated or Put forward for ‘services to technology’.

Apparently, up until the last stages, all went well only for Brown to pull the plug. According to the article, Prime Minister Brown was still upset with Apple’s CEO for his refusal to speak at the Labour party conference, in other words for his refusal to be drawn into politics! As expected, a spokeswoman for Gordon Brown says that the The Telegraph's report is false and that "Mr Brown did not block a knighthood for Steve Jobs".
Apple will be holding its iPad event tomorrow at the Yerba Buena Center in San Fransisco, California. So what can you expect from this event?
To begin with, there’s general consensus that we’ll shall see a preview of iOS 5.0. As Engadget reports,

“It’s also almost guaranteed that we’ll see the next version of iOS (number 5 in all likelihood, along with its SDK for devs), and an expansion of Apple’s cloud services (that part is a little… foggy right now). Of course, that will perfectly set up Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 5 in June, which is when iPad owners can likely expect to be using the new software.”
The timing of an iOS 5.0 preview tomorrow makes perfect sense for Apple. If the iPhone 5 is introduced during Apple’s WWDC conference this June, developers will need to get their hands on the new SDK. An iOS 5.0 preview and SDK release would be a perfect side dish to the main entree that is the iPad 2.

MobileMe will most likely be significantly revamped and re-introduced as a free service for all Apple customers. Cloud storage should be a huge part of the MobileMe revamp. Cult of Mac got an inside tip from an Apple staffer on the new MobileMe,

“The Apple staffer, who asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said the new MobileMe service will store music, TV shows, and films that were purchased from the iTunes store. The staffer also said that there was talk inside Apple of being able to upload all your music and videos to the cloud whether it was purchased from iTunes or not. However, they couldn’t confirm whether this will be rolled out or not.”
As we venture a little farther out on the rumor radar, some reports have claimed that MobileMe could also be the framework for some type of Apple-engineered social network.

Finally, Steve Jobs could make an appearance at tomorrow’s keynote. Jobs went on a medical leave of absence last month, but Kara Swisher from All Things Digital is claiming that there’s a good chance we’ll see Steve onstage at tomorrow’s event.

“According to several sources close to the situation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs–who is on a health-related leave from the company–is definitely considering an appearance at its big iPad 2 event tomorrow.
If he did appear, sources said, Jobs would make at least a brief appearance on stage along with other top company execs in showing off Apple’s latest version of it hugely popular tablet.”
Kara Swisher has been spot on about Apple news before. She was the one that correctly predicted the date of tomorrow’s event before Apple sent out invites.
According to All Things Digital, Apple CEO Steve Jobs is ‘considering’ putting in a surprise appearance at tomorrow’s iPad 2 event.

Citing people ‘close to the situation’, All Things Digital says that while an appearance by the charismatic CEO is by no means assured, Jobs could make at least a cameo appearance.

If he did appear, sources said Jobs would at least make a brief appearance onstage, along with other top company execs in showing off Apple’s latest version of it hugely popular tablet.
Jobs is currently on sick leave and it’s been widely believed that he wouldn’t be in attendance at the event. Whether he will appear at the event or not remains to be seen.
Moments ago at Facebook’s mobile press event, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Mobile VP Erik Tseng were asked whether Facebook is building an iPad app and if so when it will possibly be released. To this, Mark replied that the iPad is not a mobile device and that Facebook is still trying to figure out its approach and strategy for tablet devices. Until this app comes, iPad users will have to either access Facebook via the official website or touch.facebook.com.
