Question of the month: How would you describe your own personal style? How has it evolved over the years

Okay.... So I'm really late with this months post! But better late than never right ?

So how has my fashion evolved ? Hmmm I'd say a lot ! I have always liked clothes and spend the majority of my money on clothes . I'd say the biggest change over the years would be quality over quantity . I use to buy buy buy lots of stuff ( read:crap) and my wardrobe would be busting at the seams

I know really think about what I buy. How will it work in my wardrobe . How is the quality . I tend to splurge on classic items , while finding cheaper alternatives when buying trendier items

Another thing that has changed is I make an effort to try to accessorize ... Something in still working on , but vow to get better at!

Now unfortunately I don't have easy access to pictures from pre blogging days ( never took selfies) but even since I started blogging in think my style has evolved .... You be the judge !!!

My Fav Pink Beauty Items & Monthly Must Reads!

Question of the month : What are your favorite Pink items?

So this can easily become a long post... so I just grabbed the first things that came to my mind. I can't say I'm one of those girls who's favourite colour is pink... but I do like it...esp lighter shades of pink:)

So let's go get to it shall we?

1. MAC Eyeshadow in "Say Yeah" unfortunately no longer available...I am obsessed with this colour and use it sparingly since I know I cant get it anymore:( It's the perfect neutral peachy pink for everyday wear and can be swiped on and you are out the door. Here is a colour swatch from my eyeshadow post .

2. "Soap and Glory" Flake away. This is a great in shower exfoliater. When I first got this i didn't know what to think...the smell caught me off guard (even though I know people love it) and it left my skin moisturized even after I rinsed it off...(which I usually don't like). But this product grew on me. The smell lingers on the skin and I'm now a big fan of the smell, and my skin could use the extra moisture these days !

3. Clairsonic Mia. Not much to say about this...it's been reviewed a thousand times. A staple

4. Beauty Blender. I am more of a 'apply my foundation with my fingers' type girl, but the beauty blender is the ONLY foundation applicator that I would use on the days I choose to. I've tried many brushes and other sponges and have never liked them.

5. Tweezerman Tweezers in Hot pink...they do the job well...and they are hot pink!

6. Sultra Bombshell 1 inch Conical wand. I totally cheated here...I know my conical wand is purple...but it comes with a pink glove...so does that count? I cant tell you how life changing this has been (drama) I let my hair dry naturally and then use it to create loose curl/waves. It takes about 5-7 minutes and looks like I actually put some time into my hair.

7. MAC lip gloss in "Ample Pink" The perfect "Your lips but better" colour for me. Will always repurchase this...

8. MAC blush in Fleur Power. As you can see from the pan I hit on it...it's my go to pink. It just seems to work with my skin tone. Not sure if I would repurchase though because I have so many blushes to go through.... but it is a lovely shade:)

Baby Girl Nursery Inspiration

Hey !

So a few posts back I was going back and forth between cute and babyish nursery vs soft and feminine. Well.... Feminine won! yay!

Now for our first Nursery (here) we put a lot of effort into decorating and putting things together. This time, I feel pressed for time! So basically it will go as follows " may I please have one of each" lol so this "inspiration" picture is a little more than inspiration lol

I am basically combining these two looks to make the nursery :

Yep... I'm getting the crown. It's too pretty to pass on, and I like the pops of gold in the second picture. I also have the floor lamp on my list. We will see how this all come together.....

I was also thinking about maybe doing a monogram...but it depends on how crowded things start getting. I would LOVE to hang the crown above the crib....but thinking it might not be safe, and I wont get any sleep b/c I'd be worried about it falling down! lol

For the walls, I can't decide if we should just do a light lilac colour or maybe a very plain yet textured wall paper for some visual interest. Heading over to our favorite wallpaper store on Monday to hopefully decide !:)

Gender Reveal & Bumpdate: 27 weeks !

Hey Everyone!

So I wanted to do a Gender reveal post! Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the cake we used to reveal the news to some of our family members...but the one below if much cuter anyways!!!

and ..................

We have a 23 month old girl at home right now. I feel happy that she is going to have a little sister so close in age to grow up with, tell her secrets too ( along with telling me...right??) and be best friends with (when they are not pulling each others hair and stealing clothes :)

Thought I'd take this opportunity to also do a Bumpdate since I haven't done one in awhile! So this will be my 27 Week Bumpdate!

Size of the baby?

The size of a head of Cauliflower 16 inches 2.5 Lbs

Total Weight Gain/Loss?

About 24lbs. Yikes...with 12 weeks to go... i need to be careful!

Maternity Clothes?

Basically all Maternity Clothes now. Found some cute tops at H&M on sale! score! (Just realized, aside from the jeans in the picture above, the rest is lose fitting regular clothes from my closet.... so maybe it's still a mix :)

Stretch marks?

None yet… Using Josie Maran Argan Oil

My Exercize Routine & Monthly Must Reads.

This months question is : How often do you work out? What's your preferred method of exercise?

Answer: I don't have one....... The end.

Okay fine.... I will expand. I'm currently 27 weeks Pregnant. Not that that should be an excuse not to exercises, I really do believe exercising throughout your pregnancy is great for you and baby. However, the reality is it just doesn't always work out that way. So instead, lets chat about what I USED to do pre- pregnancy:

I was fortunate enough to be in a job where I could use my lunch hour to pop over to the gym.... nothing better then getting the gym out of the way during the day. Especially when you have a toddler to get home to :) I'd say I would go about 3 times a week and would either use the tredmil, elliptical or do a spinning class.

Along with that, if my goal is to loose weight, I need to focus on a low carb diet. It's just what has proven to work for me. I would always incorporate complex carbs like Quinaoe etc, but simple carbs and refined sugars are an occasional treat.

Here is a throw back picture of me in my 80's ish off the shoulder work out gear:)

Post baby #2, my goal is really to get into top shape. I'm planning on incorporating one dance class a week ( I love dance classes....thinking salsa!) One hot yoga a week to work on my posture, and the balance would be at home DVD work outs since it is just more practical with two kids. Leaning towards the Brazilian butt lift DVDs, but I guess we will see:)

Makeup (and Bathroom) Organization !

Hi Everyone!

This is a long overdue post from when i reorganized my makeup/Bathroom. It's still not *perfect* but a definite improvement over where i was before!

Here is the the before..... Yeesh! Just a cluttered mess! There is nothing that stresses me out more that "clutter"

Below are the three drawers where I would keep everything else makeup/skin care related

And apparently I forgot to take a picture of drawer number three...! It must have been really bad!

And here is the after! <Drumroll!>

On one side I have my Eyeshadow/Blush pallets and soap dish

On the other side I have my face pads, Q-Tips , Makeupbrushes and cleansers I use daily. I got all this stuff at a local Kitchen organization store.

Drawer One (After): These are my makeup/products I use on a daily basis

Drawer Two (After): Makeup/Products used less frequently and all my Lipsticks

Drawer Three (After): Random samples and things I have accumulated from hotels lol

Here is an upclose of my Lipsticks :)

I have to say, having everything organized and visible (not all in little separate makeup bags) makes it easier for me to actually use all my products up. I tend to forget what I have, so this solution is really working for me:)

What's in my Makeup Bag & December Must Reads

Hi Everyone !

This months question is: What makeup to you carry around in your purse?

I have never been one to reapply makeup throughout the day. If I touch up my lipstick, it would be a special day. But I do carry around a little makeup bag in my purse. The one I am currently using is by Coach, however I have had my eye on the Prada nylon one. Will pick it up next time I am at an outlet mall :)

In reviewing the contents... it seems to be more of a "Emergency bag" than a makeup bag, but nevertheless, here are the contents:

Band Aides:These are life savers for those days when you wear those uncomfortable shoes

Expandable towelettes: A must for a mommy. Add a bit of water and they are a full size napkin

Mini Nail File: I hate having a snag in my nail when it break unexpectedly!

Mini Hair Claw: Keep my Hair off my face

Mini Safety Pin: Because you just never know

Thought I would do a quick post on a Pregnancy OOTD. I was about 19 weeks Preggers here ( I am now 23 weeks). Keep in mind..... I am by no means any sort of authority on "how to look cute while pregnant" so anytime I manage to put together a half decent outfit....I'm excited! lol

None of what I am wearing is actually Maternity, I was able to piece together looser fitting items from my closet.

What I Have Learned from Youtube/Blogs & Monthly Must Reads

Hi everyone!!!

Question of the month: What are 3 of your favorite things you've learned from other blogs/Youtube?

I still remember the first time I ever used "Youtube" for makeup help. It was 2007 and I was attending my Boyfriends (now husband) work Christmas party. I wanted to do something special with my eyes so I googled "smokey eyes" and up popped a YT video by Panacea81. I soon found many other YT beauty Gurus.....and I was hooked !

1. The Power of Blending: The first very important tip I learned in Panacea's video (and in many other videos) was the importance of blending out my eyeshadows. I remember getting heavily into makeup in university...however, reviewing pictures it seems that I used to lay down a layer of MAC sable then deposit some MAC Sketch in the crease on call it a day...no blending. This was my day and night look.......ewwwwwww.

Not that you can really tell that I have done anything on my eyes....here is a pic from the Christmas party mentioned above...siggghhhhh I miss my bangs! Note: I have my nose pierced in this picture!

I can't link one video which showed me the importance of blending..... it's basically a concept that is in all makeup videos (and clearly something I missed during my university years!)

2 &3. The second and third thing I learned from Youtube was very important: how to apply blush without looking like Bozo the Clown, and how to contour. I had always heard to smile and apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. While this worked for my lighter pinky/peach coloured blushes, it definitely did not work for my darker coloured Blushes, so I stopped wearing them. Then I came across this video by Nur and it was life changing!

Note: This video also showed me how to contour properly....again; life changing. As evidence, I would like to submit a family picture.... Now, why is this evidence? Because, I was about 6 months pregnant with my daughter in this picture and I had a full on moon-face. Through proper contouring and blush application, I think my face looks pretty non-moonish ! I remember even my sister commenting and asking me when I changed the way I applied my blush:) Thanks Nur!

Because this picture is black and white, it may appear I was a bit heavy handed with my contour, but I promise I wasn't:)

Nur has also showed me how to use a beauty blender properly, how to blowdry my hair with volume, how to do some really awesome eye looks....the list goes on and on. Soooooo my point being, if you haven't already, go check her out! <here>

Bumpdate: 18 Weeks!

HI Everyone !

So I decided to start doing some "Bumbdate" posts (Title taken from Schnelle) Here is my first contribution. I promis to have better pictures next week! I didnt take the proper "bump" profile pic this week, but wanted to get my post up... I'm currently in Pjs so cant do a quick one now either! lol

Size of the baby?

The size on a sweet potato 5.6 inches 6.7 Oz

Total Weight Gain/Loss?

About 10lbs. I am not one of those lucky women who will end the pregnancy having only gained 24 lbs..lol That certainly wasn’t the case with my daughter!

Maternity Clothes?

A mix. Most of my tops are just my regular clothes, while my pants are now maternity.

Stretch marks?

None yet… hoping not to get any as I didn’t with my daughter J

Best Moments?

Feeling the baby kick this weekJ

Movement?

Here and there…but it’s very subtle

Food Cravings?

Regular Lays chips. Yum!

Anything making you queasy or sick?

Chicken…. ewwwww

What I miss?

Feeling really good. Get dizzy often though if I get up to fast ( my BP is very low when I’m pregnant) was Just advised by my doctor that it wouldnt hurt me to get some extra salt!!! Don't mind if i do (As I reach for my Salty Lays Chips!)

What did you eat today & Must-reads: October 2012

Hey!!!!

Okay... first things first...I've been a very bad blogger! I dont know why I am having such writers block, but I am! Hopefully I get back into the swing of things now! As you can see by the title, this is a LONG overdue post !!!!

Okay, onto the post:

Question of the month: What did you eat today?

Answer: Okay, here is my disclaimer; I am pregnant. So don't judge! I'm hungry okay?
Note: the majority of the food I eat is organic, obviously omitting any processed food I happen to be eating but all Fruits and veggies and meats and dairy are organic.

Breakfast : Yesterday it was a bowl of frosted mini Wheat's...not the BEST but it is what it is. I rotate between cereal, stove top oatmeal or wholewheat toast with PB .

AM Snack: A few almonds and organic yogurt.

Lunch : A Sub from Subway, but since I can't have Deli meat, this was a veggie one ( I am kind of repulsed by chicken these days) and a Pear

PM Snack: Apple and a slice of organic cheese (not pictured)

Dinner: Hubby made REALLY good tomato, mozzarella and chicken panninis. And since I didn't have to touch the chicken, I was able to eat it. We had it with a side of steamed veggies and salty chips ( a current craving)

After dinner snack (lol) : We have been juicing these days. A great way to trick my 20 month old to get some veggies. Although i know juicing does tack out most of the fiber, at least she is getting the nutrients. This is a Carrot, Celery apple and orange drink. YUM

Late night snack (hey- i said don't judge): So I was craving in a bad way Kraft Mac and cheese. So i took my hubby down with me and made a pot. I love Ketchup on mine :)

So that was my day. I usually do not have a late night Kraft MAC and Cheese snack LOL that was bonus, but the rest of the day is pretty typical these days as i am hungry every few hours.

Question of the month: What bath products are you currently using?

I have to say, I don't think I have my bath time down to a science yet the way I do my face routine. But I do like a few of the products I am using. Looking for suggestions from others :)

Clairisonic Mia

While technically not a product, something I keep in my shower and use often. I do really like it, makes my skin feel really clean. I use the sensitive brush head since my skin tends to be...well, sensitive :)

IviScents Body Lotion in Birthday Frosting

This stuff smells amazing., but feels like I am actually applying frosting on my skin ...it's too thick and goopy for my liking. Looking for another all natural alternative. Thinking about the Nardo one as per Nur's rave:) (I'm sure you all know Nur...but in case you don't: you should!)

AG -Therapy Tech Two Shampoo

While I do like this shampoo, I only recently started using it after a long list of failed shampoos. I need something that will not weigh down my hair, but that is also moisturizing. Am I asking for too much?? So far, this isn't bad....but holy grail? I think not.

AG- Volume Thikk Rinse Conditioner

This product on the other hand, I have had for awhile now (half a bottle used) and I really do enjoy it. It smells great and gets rid of my tangles. Does it volumes? No. But I do really like it.

Satin Care Dry Skin Shave Gel

I have been using this particular brand now for years! I don't know exactly why I like it so much.... but I do. I usually get the dry skin formula since my legs are often dry ( I usually neglect moisturizing since I'm currently having moisturizer issues) And a bonus.... it's usually on sale! I have about 5 in my backup cupboard as we speak.

Venus and Olay Refillable Razor

Alright, so this is my Holy Grail razor, Kinda. The one I usually get is the Venus Embrace razor which is my definite holy grail, but the Olay one is just as good. I have not found a razor that gives me a closer shave with less nicks and it's quick! I discovered this razor years ago at a Shoppers Drug Mart Life Event where I was given several for free. I have been hooked ever since ! Sneaky marketing!

La Vanila 2 -in-1 Shower and Shave Gel in Pure Vanilla

I really love this shower gel! (I dont use it as a shave gel). I have been slowly trying to switch all my bath care products to more natural alternatives, however I find sometimes, natural products just don't deliver the same results. This product however, is great! It smells great and lathers well:) It is a bit on the pricey side at $20.00 for a 8 oz bottle, but I will likely keep repurchasing. A little goes a long way! I'm excited to try the other scents !

So that is it for my bath products! I'm really looking for a a more natural shampoo/conditioner, but the ones I have used thus far have made my hair a frizzy mess....any suggestions?

I'm inserting a picture of my shower storage solution since ours had none! We didn't want to drill holes into the marble. Note: While marble may look nice....it does not mix well with slippery wet feet! Yikes!!!

My Picks: In Style - September Issue

Hi Everyone!

So I LOVE flipping through fashion magazines and getting style inspiration...My favorites probably being 'In Style' and 'People Style Watch'. I am always "flagging" inspirations for upcoming seasons from magazines . I recently got the idea sharing my picks with you from Ella and her "Flipping Through" posts. I hope you guys enjoy! :)

The magazine in question: InStyle September issue. It's a big one!

So first up... I'm loving these "Matchstick Pants" . I already have a pair...but would love to get a bold print:)

These kind of remind me of the feather ones worn by Laura that I missed out on!

Okay.... so yeah.... this is a departure from what I would usually wear...Yup, those are horses on the shirt, but I love the colours and print. I would pair this with a high waisted pencil skirt and tuck it in, roll up the sleeves..and accessorize with Gold...

No real clothing item I like from this..I just LOVE the whole feeling of Fall this is giving me... I can literally smell the leaves:) I love Fall!

I LOVE everything Victoria Beckham Makes...seriously. Really into this dress (middle grey dress)...but her stuff is surprisingly very expensive...

Probably my favourite thing I saw is this amazing Wool coat by Mackage. I worry though that makeup would stain the Shearling..... Although this is the type of thing I would justify "investing in" (my husband HATES when I use that term for clothes or purses lol) I have a feeling I likely won't be getting it this winter...more on that later...

Okay.... how adorable is this???? D&G baby stuff!!! Yes please...but No thanks to the prices! 825$ for a coat that she will only be able to wear for one season??? PASS! But it is all adorable stuff:)

Cottage Recap and OOTD

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to do a quick post from our long weekend at a Cottage resort. It was the first time we visited this particular resort (Fern Resort) and I highly recommend it for families with kids!!! Had a great time. Thought I would share a few pictures:)

Unfortunately....this is the only picture I took of the main building lol.... but it was really nice and made me feel like I was in 'Stars Hallow' (Gilmore Girls reference)

Monthly Must Read: August 2012

Hi Guys!

So I was asked by the lovely Ella from Ella Pretty Blog if I wanted to join her monthly must read group. Basically, once a month I will do a post, and answer the monthly question as well as link to other blog posts that are....the "must read":) I hope you guys like this... thought it would be something different. So here it goes..

Question of the month: Please share a picture of your Engagement Ring and tell us a story behind it.

Answer : Okay, So at first I was a little hesitant about this...but, what the heck :) Here is a picture of my ring and wedding band (the band above it) I'm currently stacking some other rings with it as well.

Story: When my husband proposed, he actually didn't propose with a ring, which for me...was perfect. We went together to chose the diamond and the setting. I was torn between keeping it simple, or glamming it up. But as you can see, we chose a classic four prong setting, and a very thin band. It is also a setting that kind of 'runs in the family' so to speak. It is similar to my sisters ring, and to what my older brother (with the help of our sister ;) picked out for his wife. It was also my hubby's preference :)

We were also happy that we were able to purchase a Canadian Diamond. This was something which was important to me due to the (admittedly very little) I know about "Blood Diamonds" . What I love about it is that there is a tiny Maple Leaf engraved in the diamond which is only visible under strong magnification.

So that's my story... not too exciting but thought I would share:)

My Girls Nursery Room

Hi Guys!

Here is a tour of my little girls Nursery Room. It's very simple...but since it was requested, thought I would share:)

Note: we were SUPPOSE to switch out the rug...but haven't gotten around to it yet!!! Will probably do it when we turn her crib into a toddler bed:)

The Crib, Bookshelf and Change Table are by Young America,the "My Haven" Collection. Crib (colour Peach): <here> Bookshelf <here> Dresser <here> and Change Table top <here> The Dresser, and bookshelf are in the colour "Cotton" and for all furniture we chose the "Sand thru" finish.

We painted the walls in two colours. The accent wall is in the blue/purple/grey tone. I love the way the Peach Crib pops against it. The other wall are in a pale yellow. We didn't realize it at the time..but these are colours used on the paper bags at Pottery Barn kids! lol

Below is a picture of my little girl at 7 days old! we got our newborn pictures done with Chandra Lee and we were very happy with her! If you live in the Toronto area...definitely check her out! <here> I had it custom framed from an art store..kept it simple, but like the way it turned out :)

The Tree on the wall was originally going to be hand painted by my husband! (he is 'artsy') but as he was drawing the outline....I found a Wall Decal on Etsy! We decided it was the way to go (The etsy store doesn't exist anymore)

The Rocking chair is by Dutailier, This chair and footrest saved my back in the beginning since I spent a lot of time nursing on it ( the footrest has a pull down footrest on it as well....hard to explain...but this was VITAL for me). We still use it today to sit with her and read bed time stories! We choose the frame fabric colour

The Side table and lamp is from Pottery bard, and a friend made us the peach trow on top of it:)

Here is the view from the doorway. We had the drapes made. I wanted them lined, but not "black out" because I didn't want my daughter to get accustom to only sleeping in pitch dark rooms. The door seen here on the right is to her bathroom. We chose this room because it has the only bathroom with a bathtube in the whole house! We didn't really decorate much in there so I didn't take pictures, however we bought one of these organizers to put on top of the toilet which helps to organize!

Here are the details of the bookshelf decor... The gift bag was the party favour from my Baby shower which included a personalized chocolate bar. Very cute! The Bunny was a gift from a Friend. It's a Piggy bank from Tiffany. On top of the Bookshelf is a "Diaper Cake"

....last but not least ...her closet! We had the extra rod put in since baby clothes are so small...i bought the green bins from Winners. You would think i would have taken the time to tidy the closet a bit before this post...but frankly, i would be misrepresenting her closet! lol.....

My Makeup Collection- Part 1: Eyeshadows

Hi Everyone!

This is a requested post regarding my makeup collection. When I set out to do this...the task seemed daunting! So I decided to break it up into sections.... So this is Part 1: Eyeshadows.

You will notice that there is a lot of MAC eye shadows. This is for no reason other than the fact that I like having pallets. If I have individual pods, I tend not to use them. I'm thinking of trying some ingliot next, but for now...I don't think I need any more:)

In fact, I have been getting rid of some unused makeup through E-Bay, and am thinking about having a Blog sale here for some of my other items. Not sure if anyone would be interested...but I'll give it a try:)

Note: Names in Red are colours I really like and/or would keep repurchasing :)

This is how I store my MAC pallets in my bathroom. I got this holder at the "Organizing store" I think it's a letter holder. It holds 6 pallets.

So First up is my neutral pallet. This is basically what I use every day. I travel with it...and can't live with out it (drama drama! )

Next up are two E/S I haven't depotted yet:

The pink one is Swish and the neutral one is Wedge , and here it is swatched. Although Wedge barely shows up on my hand, its such a great colour to deepen the crease in a soft way that you almost can't see while giving some extra dimension to the eye.

Next up is my Costal Scents Pallet in the 88 ColourPallets ....I am NOT going to swatch this lol. I actually have 3 other CS pallets but I cant find them. I don't think I have ever really used this to be honest, but it is nice to have almost every colour on hand in the event that I may need it

And last but not least in my UD Naked Pallet. Again, I am not going to swatch this because if you Google it...you will find 1 zillion swatches (that is a lot of swatches!). Plus my hand is feeling raw from removing all the other swatches lol

While I do like this pallet, I find it's a lot of what I already have in my collection. If you don't have many eyeshadows and like a neutral eye, this is a great convenient pallet. This is what I have with me in my gym bag and sometimes travel with. ..I really need to start going to the gym again....

Here is an outfit i forgot to post ! I've had this dress for a few years and have never worn it! . I was always searching for the perfect white blazer to pair with it. I recently picked up this Elie Tahari Blazer from Holt Renfew with this dress in mind:)

( I really need to start closing my closet door....or at least picking my pants off the floor! lol)

OOTD: Family Outing & Random Pics from W/E

Hi Everyone!

Wanted to do a post with what I wore to the mall this weekend with the Hubby and my Daughter :) I'm proud to say that I didn't buy anything for myself... even though this ACL blazer was on sale (still too expensive in my opinion)

My husband bought a slim cut Hugo boss suit (which was actually a VERY belated Bday gift from me)...hummna humna humna :) I bought a classic Burberry trench for my daughter (yes, I am clearly aware that this is nuts) lol but it was too cute to pass up and it was 50% off ;) I'm somewhat jealous that she has one before I do! lol

Here is what I wore out on our shopping adventure. It was super comfortable which is key when I'm out with my daughter.

We also took her to a indoor fair this weekend ... she had a tone of fun on all of the rides:) here is a shot of her on the Mary-Go-Round" oh, and what I wore:)

OOTD: Date Night Coral:)

Hi!

It's been awhile. Mainly because my outfits have been very frumpy! the majority of the people in my building have moved out...so there are only four of us on this floor! I'm lucky if I look half decent when I get to work! lol
