Two years ago, I wrote my last blog entry.

I must admit that I missed blogging- which I consider as an avenue for sharing my thoughts and expressing my emotions on various topics through the art of writing. However, the daily grind of work as a broadcast journalist and family responsibilities as a father should not be a hindrance to me in pursuing my love for writing, So today, I am renewing my vow to write again on this blog site.

Perks of writing. I believe that one of the perks of writing is that one could harness his abilities to orderly arrange his thoughts and putting it to words. Moreover, one could also enrich his vocabulary by incorporating terminologies new to him and applying those words on sentences that he uses.

Giving birth to ideas. One of my friends who is a writer (who actually published a book on his own) said that writing gives opportunities for new ideas to be conceptualized, or shortly, to be born. I think this is true because one could also challenge a debate on a particular post if a reader finds the article confusing or questionable. That is aside from sharing information to readers on a particular topic or idea.

Moving forward. From this day on, this blog will not just be about thoughts or random rants that I encounter to just express my frustrations but will also be an avenue to inspire people. I will share unique and unforgettable experiences that I encounter while gathering news on the field where I meet people of different background and struggles.

Untold stories. This blog, I hope, will also be an avenue to share inspiring stories that are untold in a one-minuter news story package.

Gardening Day

Yesterday dad and mom woke us up to accompany them buy new plants for our mini garden at home. Daddy drove the car, mommy sat on the passenger's seat, and Lyle and I sat on the backseat of Navara.

We navigated the town of Laoac since daddy does not know the exact location where we were heading. So he had to go down the car and ask some residents.

Thank God we didn't get lost and found the place after minutes of driving.

Dad and mom immediately searched for plants they preferred. I, too, looked for ornamentals which could be placed inside the house.

It's sad for me not to know the names of the plants we bought. But one plant stocked in my memory. It's the little plant named Dollar or Welcome Plant. I bought three of these plants and placed in our sala.

The pick up was full with ornamentals we bought.

When you get so stressed out, gardening can be a relaxing therapy to destress. Plus, the bonding moment you get to have with your family. I love off-duty Saturdays!

I can't wait for December

I fell in love with the month of December since I was young. I don't know why. Maybe because it's the "happiest month" of the year. Or maybe because a lot of people are happy during the month due to the bonuses they get.

But this year- 2013, marks my being a father, and it's due in December. Well, Lyle's due is in December, and I'm the excited father-to-be! Hoping for everyone's prayers for us and for our little baby.

The photo shows our little angel's 5th-month ultrasound image. We still cannot determine the sex of the baby since he/she was facing down when the doctor checked him/her.

Being a news reporter

Four months. This is how long I have been in the broadcast industry as a news reporter in ABS-CBN's Regional Network Group Dagupan. I started in May this year and I am enjoying searching for the hottest and latest news and current events in North Central Luzon. Aside from the fact that you witness history unfold as it happens, you also get the chance to meet new people from different walks of life.

My most unforgettable news athering week so far is my night patrol duty. When I was tasked to roam around different polica stations at night for our morning news program, Bagong Umaga Bagong Balita, and of course for TV Patrol.

I believe that being a broadcast journalist is also being a public servant. This is because you mainly serve the people, and that you are obliged to give them news and information that they need. And that you to ensure that the news is balanced, fair, and objective.

Twists in Life

I will be a father this year!

Twists come in life when you are not expecting them. Twist in such a way that when my girlfriend and I were preparing for another phase of our career then all of a sudden we learned that we're going to have a baby. Twist, also, in a way that when we are supposed to prepare our body for our baby then all of a sudden there's the baby in her body.

I am excited. We are excited. Hoping for more twists in our lives together as father and mother to our baby.

Feelings when you do not blog

It has been a long time- five months to be exact, since the last time I posted here on my blog. Then upon waking up this morning I just realized that I have been so selfish about some of my thoughts because I am not sharing them to anyone such as to the readers of my blog.

There are feelings that a blogger feels when he or she is not blogging, according to my self-centered monitoring scheme. Such feelings include sadness. A blogger feels sad whenever he has an idea that he should have blogged but he didn't. Sadness, due to the fact that he cannot share his ideas to his readers. There is this scenario that when a blogger feels an urge to post something and because he cannot do so he feels exhausted and sad all at the same time. Blogging is like an extension of one's self already and that even a single and short post can put a smile to a blogger's face already.

I don't know if this is also felt by some blogger because as of now this is what I am feeling. Sadness due to inability to blog anymore due to time constraint. Other social media platform such as Facebook and the micro blogging site Twitter serve as a blogger's resort when he or she cannot blog.

Hello Teacher

I started teaching today and I enjoyed it. Teaching has been my secret career when I was much younger. I taught my cousins secretly in our study room and I even created visual aids for them.

Years have passed and I have real srudents now, and this thought still excites me.

Being invited to teach in a school known for 100 percent passing in CPA boards is an honor for me. I thank God because He gave me another avenue to glorify His name.

Driving to and from the school where I teach is tiring but knowing that there are students who need to be shared with knowledge plus the fact that it also is a way of glorifying the name of the Lord, is all worth it.

F5 then Shut Down

This time, I believe is the right time to refresh and reflect. I have been working for this job for almost a month now. My relationship with my job is like a romantic relationship's on-off status. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I don't but most of the time I am searching for ways to relive that love I used to feel for this career. I am not ranting, it's just that I can't handle the pressure anymore. So I am trying to refresh everything and praying that everything will be back to its proper pacing, just like before. This is somehow connected to my blog post prior to this.

I just want to get this over and done with. So I have to hit that F5 button before shutting down this career.

Sablay

In UP, sablay is a symbol of graduation and honor. Hence, the reason why UP graduates wear this on their graduation day. But in real world, sablay is what you should avoid because it will or it might jeopardize everything.

I am a fresh graduate from UP and is now working. At work, I often experience committing sablay. This mess creates an impression to my officemates about me and how I perform my duties and responsibilities. Maybe, just maybe, these mistakes are manifestations that I am not really learning my obligations. I believe that I have been in this agency for too long and that they are expecting me to have learn already my lessons, but what's wrong with me? Or is it about me or them?

Whenever we commit sablay, we often look for something or someone to blame for our mistake. This is an excuse to delve on the genuine reason why we have these sablays or why we commit them over and over again. I already know my reason, I just do not want it published. It's somehow personal and I have nothing to blame but myself.

So if you're a fresh grad and new on your job or at least have been doing that job since after graduation, I must commend you if you haven't experienced committing your own sablay yet.

I think that sometimes it's about other people and not me, but if you will look at the bigger picture, it will only boil down to me- the person who does the work, the duties, and taking care of their tasks. I cannot find the purpose of this blog entry anymore, maybe this is just how I am feeling and thinking right now- so lost with all these sablays.

First day on the last day

Today marks the last day of May. The end of summer for most people, specially the students. But this day marks the start of my career in digital marketing. The beginning of my independence. Finally, I am in the real world. I promise to be a good media practitioner, and a responsible netizen.

I just watched anepisode now, a replay it was. The episode was on the performances of the top 4. Watching this made me realize why Filipinos adore Jessica Sanchez. She was just fantastic. Her performances were amazing and unbelievable. Unlike her competitors, she can adjust her vocals from low to high, or mix it as well. I think that there's really a compatition on among these three Idols.

Clutter

I just realized that there are a lot of clutter in my life right now. Clutter which serves as problems which hinder me to be in my maximum potential. How do you manage these hindrances? I also do not know. Maybe prayers will help. I will seek solutions to these clutters the soonest. All I need to do now is to face these challenges, one step at a time.

Catching up

There are so many things to write about and to blog about here, albeit I find the time as a blocking body that inhibits me to blog, or maybe it’s just me who does not find time to blog and to share various experiences. I’ve been inactive in the blogging sphere for almost two months already. Well, I have reasons which range from academics to personal. I was very busy finishing my thesis and doing so many projects, and taking exams in the previous months. What makes me busy now is job hunting. I should’ve written all my experiences from various interviews and exams from different companies and from bunch of industries. I have a lot of interesting stories to share, but I guess those narratives are reserved for upcoming pages here.

Academics. I was very busy perusing piles of reading materials for my classes last semester, particularly for my thesis. It must admit that doing thesis is problematic when you have different perspective in your initial proposal to the time you finish your final draft. Exams were suicidal when productions and written exams collide in a week- this means that you have to write script, shoot you video materials, and edit your footages, and then you have to read and review for another exam. Imagine this cycle in just one night. Yes, in just one sleepless night. To those who are belittling my course, the hell with you. This seems easy for you, but heck my school is UP Mass Comm and we experience doing these things over and over again.

Personal. This category should have been sorted from extracurricular activities to more personal activities, or not. I am currently the Master Councilor of DeMolay Pangasinan and I have to manage our organization to meet our objectives for this term. We have to do projects, meet, and drink- the last one is optional. Aside from this, I have this more personal sphere of my life, which covers my love life and my family life. I wanted to spend more time here, but due to some constraints such as the academics, what I want is usually not met. So I have to make time for those missed times with Lyle and family.

Job hunting. I have a DeMolay brother who called me one night and asked if I am already employed. This is because his sister who happen to graduate cum Laude, too with a degree in Tourism is not yet hired. I told him that I am just waiting for calls. He was worried that even Laudes in the premiere university in the country is not automatically hired. I told him that maybe it was before, but now with more competitive graduates but less job openings, the only edge that UP graduates have is their ideologies and independence, and these things are not absorbed in school rather these are learned in the process of learning while in school.

My series of fortunate events in job hunting will be shared later here. I have to prepare to go in UP, and this time to get my graduation photos. Ask me who’s excited to get these documents- of course, my parents. The story of my graduation will also be told here, but I guess not now. Chao!

A week before installation

This week will be my hell week: 2 major papers, a long examination in an elective course, an interview for thesis, and a symposium in Letran. As I blog this entry, I am still lost on how to write my papers for my history class. However, this weekend has been very sweet. I got the chance to celebrate my dad's birthday (it's her second celebration) and got to finalize communication letters for projects.

I have a week to prepare myself mentally and physically for the installation. It's gonna be a hard week for me but it will end with a bang! I hope everything will go smoothly on the installation.

The Real World is On!

The title of this blog entry should be on my mind right now, or maybe not. I still am not done with my thesis which is the most crucial factor for graduating students. Although, it is also hard if you're going to think about your career immediately after having your thesis book binded.

Come on, practically speaking, the job offers are already inside the campus and that you as a student should already grab them! I told this to my dad earlier this evening when he called, although he emphasized that my thesis should have been done by then or else my application will just go to waste. That made me think a lot! I should finish my thesis, seriously!

So thesis, please be done before deadline.

"Speech Impediment"

I hate today's afternoon. My Broadcast Ethics class professor Atty. Avecilla emphasized that I have a speech impediment. I really do not think that it is an impediment. Although, I really appreciate his concern, eventhough it caused my classmates to do an acad thing as my punishment.

My girlfriend, a speech communication major, believes that it is not a speech defect. I think it is just an excuse for me to think and that it is not a defect. However, I understand his point that being a communication major myself and coming from the University of the Philippines Diliman, I must be a perfect communicator, as what he always emphasizes in class: we being UP students must be perfect, if not be the best in our fields.

The lesson this afternoon is to prepare yourself for the real world, because you are already tagged with your university's name, for us we're tagged with U.P., the National University of the country, the most prestigious tertiary institution in the country, and that we must not let the taxes of the people be wasted for nothing.

I know that it should've been not "meat vendor" however, she persisted that all of the business stalls have that same I don't know what it is called, a business name, I guess. We kee on debating about that and that it should be meats or meat products.

Anyway, I uloaded this just so that a certain computer shop can print this, since I can't find my USB.

True Justice

I am not really into the GMA election fraud case, but this statement of Senator Pangilinan is true and that true justice should therefore be served to anyone or anything, including the Philippines whcih was raped by then President Arroyo and her allies.

Being a Busy Bum

My last entry here is dated October 26. That is like not blogging for a decade for most of the bloggers. I even missed a single blog for the month of November!

I admit that I haven't been blogging for a while.I miss my blog, my space, my crib online. I have been busy lately with so many things. My thesis has taken a lot of time from me, and I can't blame it because I am now in my crucial stage in my undergraduate life. Crucial because it is the determining factor if I will gradute or not. As of now, the College Secretary's Office of the College of Mass Communication has not released the list of candidates for graduation yet. I am not excited about it, I am more excited to graduate.

In connection to graduation (or maybe what comes after graduation), before I blog this entry, I was looking at a certain online job searching engine or a website that lets you search and apply for job. It's crazy because until now I still do not know what to do after graduation. I know that I shouldn't thik about this until I am really graduating this April but I think that I have to start searching for a job next month, this is to assure me of a job after graduation.

Anyway, LAE is coming and I am still unsure whether or not to take it this year. I was already convinced not to take it but because I still do not know what to do after graduation, taking it next month is still inviting.

Marriage and the State

I have learned that there is really a relationship between two different institutions, the State and marriage. Kuya Toff, a senior Juris Doctor student at UP College of Law said in his response in his Facebook status that:

We have to also consider that marriage is an institution that the State has the interest to protect. Imagine how it could be if anyone could just claim the existence of such relation and nobody would have an actionable right against those who cannot show proof thereof kasi hindi naman required.

I thought at first that marriage is a private institution and that the State need not impose police power on it. However, I was wrong. Kuya Toff pointed out, also stated in his above statement, that it could be troublesome should there be no intrusion from the State.

This really invited more curiosity for me to the Law. This may be connected to the previous experience that Lyle and I have during the Moot Court trial at the College of Law (will blog about our experience soon). Yes, I will study Law but not after graduation, maybe after two years or so. I will become a lawyer, by God's grace and blessing, but maybe not now, not yet.
