It's been a while since I posted here. In the market for a CPO GLI (or Wolfie) and found this '08 near me. Ideally, I was looking for a car with the TSI motor, but I'm not sure I'll allow that to deter me. Edmunds CPO price is $18,200.00.

History: I am the 3rd owner of this set. The owner that i purchased these from had them on a S2k.

Hey guys getting kinda bored with these. Interested to see what else is out there. Please if offering a trade post up a link or some kind of pics of the wheels you are offering.

These are TRUE Staggered BBS LM's, no reps here. Comes with all (4) original BBS Black with Gold Center caps and original black BBS bolts. There is no curb rash on lips but they do have some oxidation on the inner spokes of the faces. This isn't noticeable unless your looking for it. Also on (1) one of the fronts the Hub bore was drilled out to fit a much larger hub bore than the rest. (Can get a custom metal hub ring for an additional $40 if buyer wants. But do have Plastic Hub rings as of right now) I had been running these the past 5 months with no problems what so ever before putting on my winters. Finally one of the Rears had a hair line crack but was professionally repaired and Balanced out to Zero.

I can have the faces powder coated any color for an additional $225.

Which to Boost?

Ok, so I have a question for all the guru's out there... I currently have two cars that I am having a debate in my head on which I should dump money into. A 2004.5 GLI 1.8T and a 1998 GTI VR6. Should I BT the GLI or add a turbo to the VR6? Anyone know which would run me more money to do? And which one would beeasier to do? I am looking for about 400whp out of which ever one I do.
Details on current mods and pictures of said cars are below. Tell me what you think. Please keep negative comments to a minimum, just looking for some help here.

This rare little gem is quite the find, and I have hoarded it for a long time. But alas... I promised myself I'd thin things out a bit.

I bought this kit (and saved it) for two reasons. Firstly, because it was so rare, I wanted the instructions, and because it would fix the Swallowtail Carb problems. However, Having the Carb Certificate (!!!) AND the CARB badge in perfect shape made a plan to stamp this on a Weber Carb (like a dual 40) setup and use that to pass Smog with a souped up Swallowtail did cross my mind. ;)

This is a CA SMOG LEGAL carb replacement for the early Zenith 2B2 carbs. If you know the early German carbed cars, then you know that they were nightmares. With all the vaccuum lines, they SUCKED to work on, and never ran properly... even when new. Weber came out with 2 kits early on. This one, which is the smog legal 32/32 (2 barrel) which eliminated most of the crappy vaccuum lines, and the 32/36 "Perfomance" carb. These are much different. The 32/36 (which is a great setup, btw... I have run them in the past, and they are great) will make your car run well, but is NOT SMOG LEGAL. This one will make your car run a heck of a lot better than the Zenith, and you'll still pass smog!

The pictures speak for themselves. This will come with the (worn) original box, as well as the multi-page intruction booklet (I only took pictures of the first page). All the stuff you see (Wiring, Hoseclamps, Hoses, and all brackets) are also included. This is (as far as I can tell) a complete kit.

As for fairness in pricing, I had a hard time on that one. The only place I could find them was here:

and they don't even list a price, because I don't think they have any more. :) So I figured pricing this less than the cheapest kit on there was fair. 290.00 Shipped in the lower 48 seems legit, considering the CARB stamp alone is worth that for a VW keyed Carb badge.

Car won't start - got fuel to the rail but no spark, and only a CTS code.

2003 Jetta 1.8t AWP - 140k had an APR 93 since 40k.

The only code I've had lately (and consistently) is the coolant temp sensor.

It's been very cold and it's been pretty rough starting lately. (and usually when it's cold I need to keep the RPMs up for a bit if it hasn't been started, to prevent it from choking/dying) I tried to start it last night, and the battery started to die. So, I charged it up, left it connected to another vehicle and it would just crank and not start.

Anyway, today I didn't hear the pump starting every time I opened the door, but verified the pump is working by taking the hose off at the rail to make sure it is getting fuel. Next, I took the coil pack out along with the spark plug, and dried off the spark plug. We left it out, grounding it to the valve cover, and tried to start it to see if it sparked, but no spark!

Could just a faulty coolant temp sense prevent it from starting? Could it be some of the other culprits, such as a engine speed sensor, even though there is no code? Wouldn't something causing the plugs not to fire have caused a code? Are there any tests I can do with my Vag-Com?

I've done quite a bit of reading/searching and am out of ideas... any idea how to troubleshoot this? I would think if the coilpacks or plugs were dying, i would have had at least one little misfire here or there, but haven't.

Problem with RNS850?

So I have 6 presets on the FM radio channel that I use. While listening to the radion, I changed the radio station to a channel that is not in my presets and listened to that for a few days. Then tonight while driving and listening to the non-preset FM channel, I changed the station to a preset channel. After stopping and picking up dinner, I noticed after a few minutes of driving that my radio was not on the preset I changed it to. Instead, it was back on the non-preset channel.

When I got home, I tried something. I made sure I was listening to my preset channel and shut off the car. I put the key in the ignition (I did not start it), and I was still listening to my preset channel. As soon as I started the car, the radio station went back to my non-preset channel. :mad: Even

I've reset the radio a few times and no matter what I do, I cannot get the radio to stop returning to the non-preset channel every time I start the car when the radio is in the FM mode.

Any suggestions anyone?

Just did some Vagcom logs, questions about Revo stg1 boost pressure

I just did somee logs today and it seems that the turbo is keeping up with what the ECU is requesting, so I don't think I have a leak, but the ECU doesn't seem to be requesting the right amount by what I've been reading.

Here is a 4th gear pull, requested vs actual. What do you think?

2011 Jetta transmission issue-Help!

I currently own a 2011 Jetta SE 2.5. This past summer I brought it into 2-different dealerships complaing about a shudder in the transmission that happens between 20 - 35mph. It had about 5,500 miles on it at the time. The shudder would happen about a couple times while driving to and from work each day. Well both dealers inspected the vehicle and of course could not replicate the problem. The dealer who I purchased the car from did check the tranny fluid and said it was fine. Since the problem couldn't be replicated by the dealers I decided to be patient and to re-evaluate the issue again at the 10,000 check up. The weather here in Michigan has been quite cold. The shudder has now tappered down to about twice a week instead of daily. The transmission is now shifting hard (clunk) from 1st to 2nd gear for about 5-10 minutes and then it smoothes out. Is this common nature of the 6-speed auto tranny during cold weather?? The car now has just under 9,000 miles on it. Once the car is warmed up the the car will shift rough from 2nd to 3rd gear at moderate throttle, while excellerating from a stop. To see how often this happens, I tested the car in the parking lot, and the rough 2nd-3rd shifting happend about 6 out of 10 times while excellerating from a stop. So, not all the time. It has been doing this for the past 2-months. The car just doesn't shift smooth consistantly. Now while driving I anticipate/think about the rough 2nd-3rd shift before it even happens, which is wearing on me to say the least. Besides the tranny, could there be anything wrong with the throttle calibration? I plan on bringing my car in next month for the 10M mile check up. I love the way the car drives, expecially coming from a 2010 Honda Civic. I can deal with all the hard plastic interior parts VW loyalist have complained about, but a poor shifting transmission is something I cannot accept. I would appreciate any feed back on what the problem might be and any information I could pass on to the VW tech to help better indentify the problem.

1.8t just stranded me!!!! Where do I start?

2004 Passat 5spd w 91k miles. I just did complete timing belt job 2500 miles ago. On thurs (3 days ago) I took the car to vw and had them swap another ecu in that I bought off of vortex that was flashed w apr software. I've driven 350 miles since then (I drive A LOT!).

Soooo, I'm cruising down the interstate tonight at 70 and the car just died. No warning, no flashing lights, no odd noises, just died. I had cruise control on and at first thought maybe I bumped brake pedal bc the car just started coasting. it turns over, but doesn't fire. I'm not sure if I have spark or fuel bc I'm typing this as I wait for AAA. I have my laptop, but I literally took my vagcom cable out of my car this morning!!!

So, what can I check w vagcom? Could this be an immobilizer issue w new computer? If so, why now - 3days and hundreds of miles later? And how would I know? There are No odd lights on the dash. I'm gonna pull timing cover as soon as I get home, but I don't hear anything when I turn it over. These have an issue w fuel pumps or relays? When it first died, when I tried to crank, it would catch for like a second, but after a few attempts of that now it is nothing. The weather is unusually cold for Florida - 38 right now, but not sure that could be a factor. Any help is greatly appreciated. I love VW, but it's becoming tough. Have a tdi jetta I'm rebuilding bc of a failed camshaft - I hate being on the side of the interstate......AGAIN!!! :mad:

1983 blue Rabbit diesel project West Mass-$600

I have a one owner powder blue 4 door Rabbit diesel that I was fixing up in the past. Car is located in Western Mass. halfway between Northampton and Pittsfield. Damage free blue cloth seats,crack free dash,5 speed. Will need wheels and tires bolted on to tow away. The list of new parts is extensive. Front end-New Bilstien heavy duty strut assemblys-NOT just the inserts, new wheel bearings,reman calipers, brake hoses, discs,steering rack with rubber mounts, tie rods and ends, clutch, exhaust system, filters plus more. In the rear it will need all rear suspension replaced. Included I have replacement torsion bar (rear suspension unit) New wheel cyl., brake shoes, wheel cyl, and also NEW Bogie struts. I have NEW rear springs but they might be a bit tall because they are for a Jetta. This car is not a rust bucket but will need a patch (already made of steel) welded in located in non structural area toward front of right side rocker panel. Front springs are new also. NEW means new not used from another old car. Underneath the front frame horns (where the new lower control arms attach with new lower wheel bearings) are clean and rust free. FS: 2007 Audi S4 Sedan 6MT 4.2L --- Central NJ

It is with great disappointment that I must depart with my beloved 2007 Deep Sea Blue Pearl Effect Audi S4 6MT. Due to career decisions and taking an engineering position with the "other" German automotive company (and getting a car to go along with it), my pride and joy is up for sale.

A little history:

The clear titled car was purchased in October of 2010 and now has approximately 52,000 miles on it (It's driven sparingly and so, won't change much). It came from the ritzy neighborhood of Fairfax, VA, most likely owned by an older gentleman (who else can afford a $55k car new?). It currently has a lien on it. I am the second owner of this car and it has not been tracked, smoked in nor has it been involved in any accidents, or had any body/paint work done. This S4 has a 1-1/4" hitch receiver installed at the rear which can be used for transporting bicycles or pulling a light trailer, etc. It can also be removed at buyer's request. Lojack is also equipped on this vehicle.

I am an extremely meticulous and scrupulous owner and serious enthusiast of the VW/Audi brand (I have two Corrado VR6s and a B6 Passat 4Mo to show for). I notice every detail about this car. It was purchased under warranty and to put it shortly, I utilized the coverage to its max, literally and just before expiration. This Audi has had an entire short block engine replacement (brand new, not refurbished, installed by certified Audi Master Technician, Mendham Audi) due to high oil consumption (seepage around cylinder lining) which is fully documented with supporting photos (I monitored the entire process, because i'm anal like that). The oil consumption has been known to occur in engines that were not broken in thoroughly or correctly. Suffice to say that after the replacement, the oil did not need to be topped off in the last 5,000 miles before its most recent change at 51,000 miles in comparison to the 1 qt. required per 800 miles previously. I have carefully broken the new engine in according to manufacturer recommendations and beyond the recommended duration. The engine has its own extended warranty, good until 2/23/12 or 58,187 miles. At the same time, I had the timing guides, tensioners, waterpump, clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and flywheel replaced at my expense, as preventative maintenance. I intended to own this car for the long haul as a nice upgrade from the Corrado!

Additionally, the entire transmission was replaced shortly after the engine, in June of 2011 (Master Technician, Bell Audi), when a grinding sound was heard while turning sharp left (this was the dealer's recommendation, fine by me!). The transmission also carries an extended warranty good until 06/24/12 or 61,285 miles.

Please rest assured that this S4 example genuinely drives as new just as it should with a new engine and transmission. The car is very tight and solid with no rattles or creaks. Drive this thing and everything I've been saying will become irrelevant, seriously! All documentation regarding the performed services will be provided with the car, including the original owner's manual. Two original keys and the valet key will accompany. A Carfax report and Auto Check report from 10/2010 when I first purchased it will also be included.

How it comes:

This example comes with Deep Sea Blue Pearl Effect exterior while the interior is wrapped in black leather and partial Alcantara seats that look great and grip better than the all-leather options, plus they don't get nearly as hot in the summer! Seat heaters are factory equipped for the winter seasons. The 18" factory spec wheels were wrapped in new Bridgestone Potenza RE760 performance tires on the day of delivery, and thus have just about 8,000 miles on them with plenty of life to go. Full size spare is included. It is equipped with the useful OEM navigation system (with instrument cluster display) and reads mp3s from SD memory cards. The headlights swivel to illuminate the road through the turns. The battery was replaced in 01/2011 with a genuine Audi replacement. As this S4 had just come off warranty, I assure you that I milked it, and everything is in perfect working order!

Cosmetically, this example is very clean and shows a few faint scratches here and there due to car washes and being driven over the years. It's quite excellent overall. Paint chips are nearly non-existent, particularly on the nose of the car, though the passenger side door-ding protective strip has 3-4 prominent chips as shown in the photo. Recently, a quarter sized ding was created just outside of the roof line of the car over the rear passenger door. It is not near any creases or body lines, so I believe it can be removed successfully if desired. See photos. Rims are in excellent condition as shown in photos. One wheel shows a thin line of marring, but no cracks, scrapes, or missing metal otherwise. The interior is flawless. No spills or sticky stuff anywhere to be found. The alcantara is plush and soft with no worn or faded sections. The factory carpeted mats are in good condition, though the driver side has additional wear from clutch activity ;)

This car has been a pleasure to drive and I sincerely regret giving it up, especially given its excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition after putting it through the ringer with my local dealers. I spent a lot of time looking for a clean one as most of these S4's are daily driven (as they should be) and therefore exposed to the elements. You will be hard pressed to find a better example not artificially fluffed with Armor All and tire shine. This 4.2L V8 is like no other and revs authoritatively with locomotive like power delivery; guaranteed grin, every time. The Quattro system is brilliant in inclement weather and helps lay down all of the power in the dry. The 6 spd Manual Trans is very precise with recently replaced snub mount. Four doors, future baby seat duties, all-weather transportation, split-fold rear seats/ski pass, a versatile hitch, low-key mature styling and smokin' performance were why I picked this car.

What it needs:

Nothing! Engine oil changed at 51,000 miles. New engine came with new oil at 46,000. Coolant system was flushed when new engine installed. New trans oil came with new trans. Get my drift? ;) Tires are about 8,000 miles old. Brake pads were obviously changed recently because they're thick as new and the car has 52,000 miles on it. Makes sense.

Selling terms:

I want to put this car into a good home. I believe I've painted a representative picture of this car and there will be no surprises when you come see it in person. Please examine the photos I've posted carefully. I will be more than happy to take additional specific photos at your request and answer any questions you might still have.

As I've noted at the very top, there is a lien on this car, and pending sale, the title will be obtained to complete the transaction though other arrangements can be made. New Jersey inspection is good through 12/12.

And finally, the car is located in the Watchung area of central NJ. I am looking to get $31,500 for the car in consideration of the above, though I am motivated and open to all serious offers. Please, no tire kickers or joy riders. I hate time wasters as much as I hate wasting other people's time. Test drives are at my discretion.

Kenwood DPX-313Y installation problem

First of all thanks for reading! I installed this unit in car but I have two problems, I expected it would turn off when I turned off the ignition [ that doesn't happen]. I'm getting weird reception problems when listening to radio i.e. when listening to a radio station there frequently seems to be interference until i turn it on and off again, I'm in London, so, i'd expect Capital FM to work really well [ so it can't be reception it did with the standard radio].

There are two cables for the radio antennae, so i'm wondering what each of them mean/does? Does anyone know?

Any help is most appreciated.

RNS-510 and BT help!

Hey, guys. I have a 2009 CC that came with a stock Premium 7 radio. I need some tech help.

I want to purchase an RNS-510 to replace the Premium 7. My car came equipped with, what I believe, is the 9W2 BT. Nothing was modified, and I believe when the car was manufactured (Jan 09) only the 9W2 existed, correct? Anyway, I have no idea where the BT is located to check it for sure.

If I want my phone contacts to sync with my RNS, which unit should I purchase? Does it matter? Can it be A, B, C and up? Or does it have to be C and up? I have no idea. Also, will they sync with my current BT, or will I have to upgrade to the 9W7?

Secondly, now if I want voice control I'll have to get at least a version E RNS, right? And a 9w7? Or can voice control work with a version C and a 9W7? Just trying to get some info and know what I need before making purchases.

Ideally, I'd like to not have to purchase more than I need to. I'd be happy with the cheapest RNS that will allow me to just sync my iPhone contacts to the HU screen and the MFD display (with steering wheel control). I'm hoping I can do that without having to replace my BT. Voice control isn't necessary for me, just an added bonus if it works out.

So PLEASE, someone let me know how this all shakes out. I don't want to overbuy an RNS if I don't need it. I'm new to VW, and am trying to learn as much as I can about my new car. PM me if that's better. Thanks!!

I don't really post in here too often but I'm on the tex a lot. Ive been on here since 2004 when I bought my then new 04.5 GLI, but I forgot my screen name when I got out of the seen for a few years, then rejoined in 07' when I bought my MK2, and then had my little project with that.

I've since had another 04.5 GLI, and B6 passat VR6, and now my current MK5 GTI, and my wife's 2012 CC.

I love reading good thorough build threads and learning how people go about doing their own modifications, and usually like the ones that are in the driveway or their own garage and consist of more than just a set of wheels.

Anyways I'd like to just share what I've done with my car since I got it in July of 2010. It's constantly changing and I am trying to keep it clean OEM+ and practical to drive everyday yet still be fun. So far it has been my favorite all-round VW, Still haven't had a mk1 or mk3, but they will come one day. Anyways,

I keep a pretty thorough list of everything I do to my car saved in my Gmail documents and update it every time I do something new. This is for my own reference as well as if I ever go to sell it to give to the new owner.

I'd like this thread to be kind of informative, to others and a record of my tasks. I have done all of the work to my car myself in my garage with my own tools... except warranty work, and tires and stuff that requires a shop with big tools and equipment. I can answer any questions for people on here on how to do it all, and hopefully help some people out with my experiences. Story Time: I had some gunmetal VB3s at a friends shop and one of his customers wanted to buy them cash for 170 more than I paid for them so I gave those up because I needed the cash. I been working 3 jobs and going to school to make sure my little girl and I have all we need. After supplying the best Christmas of my daughters dreams, hiring a babysitter, and dumb maintenance on Roxanne I finally had some money to buy some more wheels. MRR GT7 wheels, 18 x 8.5 et 33 all around (I think ima need to roll my fenders). MRR just started making these wheels in 5x112 n Feb. so I may be the first to have these wheels. :w00t: Dont have tires yet but im looking for some Falken 912 215/40/18 for the low..... Yeah im a low baller.
