Home Dining at Huck's Cafe Bangsar

Before I went backed for a long week holiday for Christmas, my wife friend Michelle had arrange a pre-Christmas dinner at one of the private kitchen which sensationally a talked about amongst food lovers in Klang Valley. By worth of mouth, the restaurant indeed a hit amongst the patrons as reservations booking needs to be made early ahead before any event. Reservation is almost mandatory due to limited seating capacity . The menu patrons available can view in Huck’s Café FB page which available at here. And in most of the time, the chef will decide what to cook for you, based on the best of the market for that day.

This was my first ever dinner I have for home dining. Some may called it as private kitchen, underground dining, home café, private kitchen and etc and it all still refer to a restaurant-like setting tucked away hidden in some neighborhood housing area, condos or apartments.

When my wife ask me to view Huck’s Café info, I was amaze with his talents which his passion for cooking can be shown on his creation. By combining the old and new way of cooking, he had produce some wonders on the food. I read one blog from “kampungboycitygal” wrote as following about Huck:

“The owner/chef, Huck Seng learns cooking to impress his three children (ya la! he’s married!). He is not trained as a chef, but he improvised along the way and his cooking is a hit among friends and families! Soon enough, friends came over for dinner and eventually they brought along more guests (friends of friends). That’s how the whole idea of starting up a home cafe was borne.”

The café was well decorated with antics stuffs and nice table arrangement. It was a feeling that you are at home. I can’t recall the name of the food which had that night but the food is really nice. Manage to snap few photo’s of the food and took picture with the chef himself.

The Planking Craze

When you take any photos, you will pose for the picture taken. But they is a trend out there which I stumbles on the internet which need to be shared to all such as “Planking”, “Owling”, “Batting”, “Leisure Diving”,”Horsemaning”, “Stocking”, “Teapotting”, “Tebowing” and “Razorbombing”.

In Malaysia we have another pose called “Takde Makne” aka “No Means??” correct me if I’m wrong if I’d direct translated the words from BM to English.

So here I explain on each pose so that you have a better understanding and you may use it as your next pose in your photo for fun.

Planking

"Planking" (or the "Lying Down Game") is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank. Rigidity of the body must be maintained to constitute good planking.

Since early 2011, many participants in planking have photographed the activity on unusual locations such as atop poles, roofs and vehicles. Planking can include lying flat on a flat surface, or holding the body flat while it's supported in only some regions, with other parts of the body suspended.

Owling

Owling is a variation on planking in which a person squats "like an owl"

Batting aka Batmanning

Batmanning involves hanging upside down by your feet.

Teapotting

Teapotting is one of the many variations of planking that arose shortly after planking went viral. Teapotting consists of bending the arms into the shape of a teapot, in reference to the children's song "I'm a Little Teapot". This variation was created by teachers in Mortlake College in an attempt to create a new 'craze' after noticing the amount of attention planking received.

Horsemaning

Horsemaning involves posing two people so that they appear to be a single body with a detached head and is a revival of a photography fad popular in the 1920s.[25] It is thought that the name comes from the Headless Horseman in Washington Irving's short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Stocking

One of the most difficult to successfully pull off but most rewarding photo trends is "stocking," in which participants recreate a stock art photograph to the best of their abilities.

Leisure Diving

Leisure Diving was created by John Lewis and his friend Alex Scott, who would photograph their friends striking nonchalant poses as they dove into a pool. The trend took on a life of its own on the Internet.

Razorbombing

All those other photo trends a little too "last week" for you? Why not give razorbombing a go? All you need is a razor, an unwitting victim, and a good sense of perspective.

Tebowing

Is a picture of people kneel in prayer in random locations and situations and post pictures of it on the Internet. The website Tebowing.com offers a precise definition for the art of Tebowing, as well.

At Tebowing.com, it explain the definition of tebowing as to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.

Takde Makne aka Sentaping aka Podanning (Malaysian Own Meme Pose)

A pose where you put both hand and you shoulder with your eyes look upwards.

So with the sample post and descriptions, I hope you have a slightly an idea what to pose in your next photo taken.

Grills and Steam @ Seoul Garden

There is a new shopping mall open near to my crib. KL Festival City is the latest malls and house varieties of shop. Last weekend, I and my wife plus her buddy went for a dinner at one of the F&B outlet selling Korean dishes. We went to Seoul Garden which is offering eat all you can buffet BBQ and steamboat. This is the 9^th outlet open in Malaysia.

There were varieties of food to select from the buffet line but the catch is that you need to cook by yourself. The place is quite new and it was a hit amongst the shopping mall patrons.

Plenty of seating availables

With the price which are reasonable, it for sure a hit for those who love to eat a lot and love BBQ or steamboat.

For the soup, there are few soup to choose such as chicken stock soup, chinese herbal soup, ginseng chicken soup, tomyam soup and kimchi soup. The shop also offers bottomless drinks selection such as juice, soft drinks, coffee and tea. There were also desert corner for you to choose after you have your heavy meals.

Birthday Bash @ Anggun Boutique Hotel

It was my wife 26^th birthday bash but she called it as the closing celebration of her 25^th birthday. It was held earlier than her actual birth date. This year, my wife and I decided to organize it in one of the boutique hotel in KL city centre. There were few choices but Anggun was the chosen due to the concept which is a bit like Balinese style. The event took place at the restaurant which was on the roof top of the hotel. I stumbled the place when I was Googling the internet and the video posted in Youtube.

This video do help make my decision to organize the events here.

To prepare the event, my wife have liaised with Communication Manager, Sharon pertaining to menu and the seating arrangement. The event was successful and we got good comments from the guests who attended the event.

The signboards were printed and were displayed at the hotel's main entrance and lift.

The food been prepared by the chef which really blend with each other. I didn’t take the photo of the dishes as I was busy with entertaining the guests and also the DJ and also the cameraman of that night. Food were served that night.

The guests were required to participate in game activity which really break the ice among the guests. We had fun and shared laughter. The food were great and we really enjoyed it. If you are planning to do your events, do consider this place as you will love the ambience and the food been serve. You may also consider stay in house after the events.

Malaysia Day Celebration at Dataran Mederka

It had been a while I didn’t post any blog since I’m working at new place. Hustle bustle with works. I took a lot of photo but I didn’t post it up or blog about it. Even my wife asking me, where is my passion in blogging and editing photo gone. It’s maybe due to the time constraints; wake up early in the morning and come back at work nearly 7pm almost every day. Go makan at shop and then end up returned at home nearly 10 p.m, watch tv and then sleep. This is routine activity during the weekdays.

On my way to Dataran Merdeka, I'm using public transport as avoiding the jams.

I know the photo I will post here will be old which is 16^th September 2011 gathering at Dataran Merdeka, but it worth sharings since I’d edited it and resize it.A nite before, I join few of my DSLR kakis to take photo at KLCC for firework as been posted in previous post and I did told them than I be going for Dataran Merdeka for Malaysia Day parade and they agreed to join. The next day, I did went to the event and the two kaki’s which supposed to follow me “flying kite” (aka did not shown up) as expected. In the end I was alone prowling with my camera and taking photos.

The crowd was a lot and it some sort you going for a carnival. It was jammed pack with sea of people standing along the road just to witness the parade. The parade started at 8:30am and end up at 10:00am.

Firework Display at KLCC on Malaysia Day Eve

On Malaysia Eve day, I went to KLCC to take some photo of firework with some of my photo kaki’s (bunch of DSLR owner trying to attempt taking photo at KLCC). It was drizzling the whole time since the evening and it was lucky that before midnight, the drizzle stops.

The fireworks usually took place on every eve of Malaysia Independence day on 30^th August annually each time the clock struck 12 midnight but this year it was on Malaysia Day Eve which falls on 15^th September. I will post more about Malaysia Day on my next post talking on Malaysia Day celebration at Dataran Merdeka.

The firework display was about 7 minutes and I’d only managed to capture few earlier one but due to the massive smokes, some of the fireworks can’t be seen. Maybe the location or the wind are not with us that night.

As this is our first attempts, maybe on next round can or I can practice during CNY in Sibu which I think it will be more than 7 minutes of fireworks displays.

New Speed Trap Installed under the bridge - West Malaysia

I read on one of the forum and would like to share with some of the drivers which like to speed on the highway should be more cautious as now the enforcement is getting more tougher to the traffic offenders especially driving exceeding the speed limit. The government authority had installed a new speed trap and it located under the bridge. You will not see those policemen hiding behind bushes or doing some road block but you will receive a saman ekor instead.

Wow... it been so long since RWMF i post. I'm really busy with my new job till i didn't manage to post any post. But today, i try to post a Google Doodle which pay tribute to my favorite band lead singer which is Freddie Mercury (Queens) which supposely turn 65 today on 5th September 2011.

I will try to post any Google Doodle on my blog as some of you might miss the fun. Ok lah.. time for me to do some photo editing. Will share to you guys some photo i shoot.

Rhythms of Borneo Unites the World

It was not been planned I flown off back to Kuching on July as I was about to start a new job at a new place. That’s why I didn’t participate to become the event blogger which entitle me to have a free admission ticket to the festival and full coverage of the events. My wife and her friends had flown off to Kuching early as they had planned early to attend RWMF 2011. They flew off to Kuching on Thursday and I was all alone in KL. There, my wife will be joining my sis and cousin at the festival on Friday till Sunday.

My family back in the land of hornbill was kind of worried about me staying alone as the widespread of revolution news which will be happening on Saturday 9^th July 2011 in KL. On Friday, it was totally locked down starting at 12:00 midnight to the city centre. Since I’m worried about my own safety and boredom at home during the curfew, so I booked my flight back to Kuching using Firefly on Saturday. Quite surprise the price was cheap as it still in promotion price. Once I bought the ticket, I didn’t tell my wife and the rest of my family I’m going back to Kuching on Saturday. The only know I’m coming back to Kuching are my cousin and my sis which will be going to RWMF.

Since the city locked down, I took the LRT line to KL Sentral. Using Star LRT from my place interchange at Masjid Jamek for Putra Line heading to KL Sentral, I managed to took some photo of the pre rally event. It was totally odd for Masjid Jamek area which less people and cars on the road. The street was full with police and suspicious person will be checked. There were a lot of press and freelance photographer on the scene. When I reach KL Sentral, there were a lot of policemen patrolling. I was lucky I managed to catch my bus to KLIA if not I will miss my flight at noon which is when the rally will start.

My flight was not delayed and on time reach Kuching where my sis and my brother fetching me. My wife still can’t sense I was in Kuching as each time she call or SMS me, I will tell her I’m at the apartment. Apparently, she worried about my safety in KL due to the rally.

Reaching my brother cribs, I called up my mum in Sibu and she can’t believe I’m with my brother in Kuching. She called my bro and sis mobile for confirmation. It was to her relieves that I’m back in Sarawak as she also worried about what is happening in KL on that day.

After chatting and hang out with my brother family, so we off to Santubong side attending the Festivals at 4p.m. We will be checking in at One Hotel previously known as Santubong Resort. This resort were full and mostly who stayed they are the RWMF performers and the volunteers. The resort look WOW at the first place but when you see inside the room, you might be disappointed. It’s not well maintained. The only time they are in full are during the RWMF and the price is double or triple than normal.

Look good to be true but the flooring has been eaten by termites, the air-conditioner also spoils.

Taking a break as the distance to the main road was quite far.

There were no free shuttle bus or van provided by the resort and they are private company took the opportunity to charge the passenger RM5 to the main road. At the main road, you need to pay another RM5 to use the bus to the festival sites. All is money and money.

So, we decide to walk all the way from our hotel room to the main road. It was our evening walks and managed to snap few photo along the way and drink our booze. Saw a lot of locals parks their cars beside the road heading to the resort and it seem normal for RWMF on second day it will be a blast. The walks to us 20 minutes to reach the bus check point. So we took the bus to SCV (Sarawak Cultural Village) and it took us around 8 minutes ride.

We were dropped off at Damai Central, a new place in front of SCV which accommodate stalls selling merchandize, food and drinks. There were also center stage been built where the local band performs live. We hang out at the waterfront facing the beach and having our beer before entering SCV. Once we finish our drinks, we went to the Festival sites.

My wife yet to know I was coming and we walked to the main stage area. Along the way, seem like Tin Hijau aka Heneiken is all out this year. Miss the tin biru(Tiger). When we were searching for them, they spotted us. My wife was full of joy meeting me and also mad at me because I lie to her.

Some of my friends from KL did saw me and there were happy to see me joining them for the festivals. My wife told me that the first day was better than second day performance and I do find it a bit bored as well. Even one of the uncle seating in front me were sleeping through out the show. But it change when the group from Dominican Republic performed name Joaquin Diaz. The uncle awaken and start to shake his booty. The crowd goes nuts when they perform and the party started till the last performers.

On the next day, we checked in Damai Puri. It lot much better than One Hotel Resort. The price also NICE. It was walking distance and you car need to have its own sticker for the festivals. Only those who are staying in Damai Puri and Santubong Holiday Inn (don’t know the new name of this hotel) can drive their cars to SCV. Without this special sticker, you may need to park your car at One Hotel Resort road.

We didn’t went to the workshop and only attend the concert. The crowd was less than the previous night as next day is a working day. Only those who take their leave or don’t mind to have a hang over day at work will come on the 3^rd night. The performers on this night were a bit better than the second night. I managed to go near the main stage to snap some photo. I met my cousin which works in STB taking photo of the events and I wish I can be standing behind the fence taking photo of the events close up.

Then we all decide to walked around the festivals sides as me and my cousin yet to explore the stalls open during the fiesta. Maybe next post, I blogged about Hair Tattoo as my cousin did it and my wife friend did her henna tattoo.

Once they are done with their “Tattoo”, we went back to the main stage and joining the crowd. The last performers was from UK and their really rocks the house. I didn’t manage to capture any pictures as busy dancing to the groove. I can’t believe I’m dancing to Indian beats. The crowds keep on chanting “We want more, we want more” each time their stop performs, but every beginning have it ends. The end was a finale where all the performers will performs the last time to the crowd. This year was a bit lucky as there is no mud fest party like previous year during finale.

It’s a great event to attend for those who love music. You can jam with the performers at the workshop on the day time and party at night with the crowd. Maybe, after you read my post you might have an idea what you be expecting for on RWMF next year.

Note: No outside food and drinks are allowed at the festivals sites. So prepared a hefty price paying for the food and drinks inside SCV. You are advice either you have your food and drinks at Damai Central or at city centre before coming to Santubong.

On Father's Day

It's had been like 10 years my dad had left us to be in a peaceful place called heaven. Although he is a strict, but he got his sense of humour as well where all of us remembered how he was back then. On Father's Day, i have no thing to say but i managed to create a video for him for Father's Day. Happy father day, papa is the only thing i could say for now till we meet again.

Most of us know about the best laksa Sarawak in Klang Valley located at Lucky Garden Bangsar which is at Nam Chun Kopitiam. A lot of blog about the Aunty Christina Laksa Sarawak had been posted around and by word of mouth, the Laksa Sarawak is the main attraction for patrons to the kopitiam such as from kyspeak, vkeong, uli and headsteadi to name a few.

Last 2 months, a new shop just opened selling Sarawak food as well but famous for Kuchingnites which is Kolok Mee. It differs from Kampua Mee (you can have a taste of kampua in Bandar Puteri Puchong) which originated from Sibu. In Klang valley this is the 3^rd shop I’d tested the Kolok Mee. I havn’t try the halal one yet which they say opened at Ampang which they say not that bad by my Kuching friend.

Back to Kolok mee at bangsar, on the first time I’d tested the mee but it not nice. But later, the owner ask my feedback and comment since I’d asked him either he from Kuching and then we became friend. Usually we talked in Bahasa Sarawak and I give him suggestion that mostly the Chinese in West M’sia like some greens on the meal same like wantan mee. So I suggest he put some sawi on it to compliment the full meal which is consist of mee, meat and greens. Since that day I gave comment, wah lau wei … his business was busy as the Laksa Sarawak sell by aunty Christina. The best thing, both stalls are alongside with each other and both helping each other in taking order from customer.

Vroomm… vroom… vrooommmm…. And off they go!!! Sunway was on Speedy Holiday theme when they attract the shopping malls visitor with the real size replica of Lightning McQueen and Tater from the upcoming animation movie Cars 2.

Since it was still a school holiday, the place was packed with children taking opportunity to take photo with their favourite characters. It seems like Disney in Malaysia really make a big impact this year with Pirates of Caribbean on Stranger Tides in Midvalley and now Cars 2 at Sunway Pyramid. Is there going to be Disneyland Malaysia? Ermmm…. Just a guess but it would be a great attraction to Malaysian since Singapore had there Universal Studios.

Back to the deco at Sunway, there are few shop stalls open near the concourse area where you can buy merchandise of the movie such as clothes for kids. I might be planning to buy one for my niece and nephew for early Christmas shopping. Hihihihihi… So if you are around in KL till 12 June 2011, do come to Sunway Pyramid and catch the glimpse of the real size replica of McQueen and Tater.

Each summer, there will be new box office movie will be played throughout the world. This year, Pirates of The Caribbean on Stranger Tides hits the Malaysian shores and again Midvalley turns it concourse area into a theme park. Last year it was Alice in Wonderland, now it was the pirates taking over Midvalley.

The main attraction is the replica of Queen Anne’s Revenge ship built at the concourse area. It was built quite details together with the other props. While I was still snapping the photo of the ship, the dance show starts where the dancer will dress up as the character in the movie such as Jack Sparrow and Captain Blackbeard. Out of sudden, the councourse area was full with people to catch a glimpse of the show. Me and my missus was lucky enough near to the stage.

This two kids does not enjoy the shows but the parents do.

It was enjoyable 20 minutes shows which entertain most of the childrens since it was school holidays. If you around in KL this week, you may bring your family at Midvalley and snap few photo for your memory treasure.

Beside from the replica of the ship, there was a replica built up from LEGO. It was quite details and based on the movie theme which is Pirates of Caribbean on Stranger Tides.

Hindu Deities @ Batu Caves

During my uncle from Singapore recent trip to KL, I brought him to an attraction place near to my house which is Batu Caves. He was quite happy as he thought that the place was on the other part of KL but just a driving distance of 15 minutes from my place. The Batu Caves in Malaysia are most important Hindu religious sites outside of India and are a must-see once you are tired of shopping and wandering Kuala Lumpur.

Just eight short miles north of the city, the Batu Caves are just one of the many interesting things to do around Kuala Lumpur. The caves attract around 5,000 visitors a day who come to climb the gruelling 272 steps up to the Cathedral Cave which houses Hindu deities beneath a 100 metre ceiling.

The Batu Caves are a focal point for Malaysians Hindu devotee, particularly during Thaipusam: they house a 113-year-old temple, along with an interesting array of Hindu artwork and shrines.

Every year during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam, the Batu Caves attract more than a million devotees and spectators. The eight-hour procession of music and ceremony leaves offerings before a giant statue of Lord Murugan, the Hindu God of War.

The gruelling 272 steps you need to conquer.

Approaching the caves, the first thing you notice is a towering golden statue of Lord Murugan. Erected in 2006, this statue is the largest in the world dedicated to the deity and stands guard to the 272 leg-burning steps that lead up to the cave entrances.

As you make your way up the steps, you will undoubtedly be entertained by a tribe of monkeys that feed off the steady stream of tourists. You may take pictures, but pay attention to your belongings!

Cute but be cautious on the unpredictable behaviour.

Expect to be entertained and possibly even harassed by a horde of Macaque monkeys that call the area home. The monkeys make great subjects for photos, but inevitably end up stealing from and even biting the occasional tourist.

Monkey bites can be serious; immediately drop anything that they grab onto such as a backpack or water bottle. The monkeys consider tug-of-war to be a challenge and may bite your hand before they let go!

The largest and most popular is known as Temple Cave, which has a ceiling over 300 feet high. Inside the lit cave you will find various Hindu shrines and ornate depictions bringing legends to life.

The entrance below Temple Cave is known as Dark Cave; this is the wildest of the three caves. The 6,500-ft underground stretch harbors brilliant limestone formations and is home to many species of cave animals including the endangered Trapdoor Spider.

The Dark Cave can only be explored by booking a spanking tour in advance. The tours require a fair level of physical fitness as some crawling is required; it is advisable to bring a change of clothes.

Just across an attractive set of bridges, the Art Gallery cave contains Hindu carvings and wall paintings that depict tales of Lord Murugan and other Hindu legends; expect to pay a small fee to enter.

Harvest Festivals is celebrated everywhere around the world to celebrate at the end of the harvesting season. With the bountiful harvest, farmers all around the world celebrate it with their own ways.

We are lucky in Malaysia we have 2 such festivals celebrated in Sabah and Sarawak. The harvest festivals in Sabah is called “Pesta Kaamantan” and celebrated on 30^th May annually. In Sarawak, the harvest celebration is called “Ari Gawai” and celebrated on 1^st June annually.

The similarity of both celebration usually starts early with gala dinner and beauty pageant such as Kumang Gawai for Sarawak and Unduk Ngadau for Sabah. During this pageant, young maiden from different local ethnics will compete to win to be crown as the winners. It is an honour for the headman of the village and the villagers if one of their maiden which joins wins the competition.

I’m proud that I was born in a multi ethnics families which celebrating all kinds of celebration. On this, I would like to take the opportunity to wish my family and friend who celebrating this upcoming harvest festival have a joyful kaamatan and gawai festival. “Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan” and “S’lamat Ari Gawai, Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai” from me.

It’s the Durian aka Kings of Fruits season and there a lot of stalls mushrooming beside the road side selling it. There are plenty type of durians selling with weird name such as Musang King aka Elvis Presley, IOI, Udang Merah, D21, D24, VSOP and etc. to name a few. The price is quite differs with each other. The most expensive one and sought by most durians lover are the Musang King aka Elvis Presley (not sure how the legend rock’n’roll star can be relate to durian) with RM24 – RM28 per kilo.

It was my first time I went for a Durian Buffet at SS2 after how many years I’d been living in Klang Valley. Only heard from my friends and read from other people blog regarding durian buffet. On my first and second visit, I didn’t bring along my camera as it was unplanned together with some friend after hanging out for yamcha.

On my third visit, I only manage to bring my camera along. Some of the shop provides “Eat All You Can” just paying RM10 – RM15 per pax. Sound interesting right? But there is a catch with the price, the durians are just kampong durians and the size is quite small compare to the other durian with it fancy name. Sometime you can’t choose the durians in the basket as the workers will open up the durians and serve on your table. The taste is “so so” lor what I can say but no harm to eat.

If you want good durians, you may try some of the durians with it fancy name. You can ask the workers to choose and recommend which durian is good to eat. Different people got different taste, some like bitter, some like fleshy, some like sweet and etc.

So far I’d tested Musang King, IOI, D24, D21, D88 and VSOP. The price is vary with each other and depends on which shop you went. So, if you are around in KL during the durian season, drop by at any durian stall and enjoy feasting on durian. Here are some blog link you may refer to which is much more details than mine. Earth Hour 2011 @ KLCC Malaysia

This year 2011, Earth Hours falls on Saturday 26th March 2011. As usual, most of the skyscrapers around the globe will switched off the lights for an hour from 8:30pm till 9:30pm. Earth Hour started way back in 2007 in Sydney when individuals and businesses turned off their lights to take a stand against climate change which we facing now. Since then, it has become a global movement with more than 50 million people from 35 countries taking part annually.

We from Malaysia also took part for this good cause and I guess this is the 2^nd time I managed to capture Petronas Twin Towers turns to darkness last year. This year, I was joined by my cousin and fellow friend who also into photography. The biggest mistakes I made this time is I forgot to bring my SD cards and my camera tripod holder before I left the house. Since we were near to Suria KLCC, I decided to purchase new 8GB SDHC card at one of the camera outlets to be used in my DSLR 20 minutes before the countdown.

When the clock struck 8:30p.m, the light does not turn off systematically.

The Maxis Tower clock also been swith off for an hour to show support for Earth Hour.

It was 4 minutes before the clock tick at 8:30p.m, we managed to find a spot to take the photo. Was quite impress with the speed of SDHC from a normal SD card as it stored the image quite faster than normal. When the clock struck 8:30p.m, the KLCC lights was turn off not as synchronize as last year. Seem like they simply switch it off randomly. My other friend which bring his new D7000 didn’t manage to capture the moments as he was busy mounting his camera to his tripod.

While we waiting for an hour before the skyscraper turn on back the lights, we chat and shared tips on taking picture at night. We decide the next outing will be night portrait photography.

As we were chatting, my wife and her friends joins us waiting for KLCC to light up. It was fun hanging out with friends at KLCC park at night as it’s not as hot in noon or in the afternoon. When the clock strikes 9:30p.m, the KLCC light up again and it takes moments before the skyscraper were fully lighted up.

3rd Edition Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta - Part 2

Continue on my previous post regarding the 3rd edition of Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon, here I would highlight on the other event which was held at the vicinity of the fiesta took place. For those who are into outdoor and extreme game, they may go to the Mountain Dew Extreme Zone which visitors can have they hand on wall climbing, Segway ride, paintball, orb ball, archery and mini motor ride.

There were a lot of people queuing playing the Orb compare to the other outdoor games been offered during the fiesta. The company which provides this called GAC Adventure Consultant Sdn Bhd. They provide unique and unforgettable experience outdoor activity. On this fiesta, they brought the ORB and it was a hit with visitors. The price was RM10 per person per each Orb game. You may choose Water Orb, Orbing Ball or Bumper Ball. The most interesting was the Water Orb where you are place inside a ball fill up with air and then the orb ball are push to the water. It remind me of a hamster inside the hamster ball where u need to push yourself forward to enable the Orb moving.

Beside the Orb ball, there were Segway ride which is some sort like a tricycle. The ride cost around RM10 per person. It looks interesting bike to use for evening ride around the neighborhood. Beside the Segway track, kids are allowed to try on the mini motorbike. It cost RM15 per child and it was a heat for kids. For the safety, some of the kids were given helmet and some shin n knee guard.

Not far from the side was paintball area where u have the chances to try out your shooting skills using paintball guns. There were also F&B stalls been erected for the crowd who tend to spend the entire day at the fiesta. Here are the random photos which I took with my dedicated simple camera.

3rd Edition Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta - Part 1

Putrajaya 3^rd edition of Hot Air Ballon Fiesta was held on from 18^th to 20^th of March 2011. On this 3^rd edition, there were few new hot air balloon participate on this year event such as the Doraemon and the Tree.

As it was collide with the school holidays break for Malaysians, it was a great opportunity for parents to bring their children to the fiesta. For the three days events, there were few events awaits the visitors who throngs to the fiesta for the young and old. For those who looking for extreme games, they may go to the Mountain Dew extreme park and while for the kids, they may enter few competition such as coloring contest and paper plane competition making.

I went there twice which is on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. On Saturday evening, it supposed to be an outing with fellow friends which into photography as well but seem the weather is not with us. So some of them returned home as it seems the rain likely to stop. So on the next day after sending my wife to work, I drove up to Putrajaya alone to catch the hot air balloon display.

As I was about to reach putrajaya, I saw few para-motor flying. So I parked my car beside the road and snap some of the photo. There were about 12 to 15 para motors flying above the fiesta ground.

After snapping few photos, I drove my car and parked near to the fiesta ground. During a big events such as this, you can see a lot of imaginary parking aka illegal parking been made. Sometime due to this inconsiderate behavior causes jam as people does not seem to follow the authority order.

As expected on the last day of the fiesta, it was packed with people. The day was extremely hot and windy. The first site I approach was the hot air balloons and only managed to catch few photo before the balloon was rest for the whole afternoon. I didn’t managed to capture Doraemon and Darth Vader hot air balloon as it only schedule in the evening show.

Look Out Point aka Little Genting @ Cheras

If you want to have a glimps of the city view at night, there is a place for you to visit which located near Cheras which they called Look Out Point or also known as Little Genting. It was my first visit to the place as usually each time we when for picnic at Sungai Congkak, we just bypass the place.

But on that day after our small picnic at Sungai Gabai Waterfall, we decide to have our dinner at Look Out point. If you are not that familiar with the place, you might bypass it as its surrounded with thick dense jungle. Please drive slowly and carefully as the road is a bit winding and steep.Usually a lot of those mamat motor aka mat rempit will always enjoys the cornering so be extra careful especially at night as there is no street lamps.

When we reach the place, previously there is no parking charge but now they charge. Not sure either their charge hourly or by entry. I paid RM3.00 during exit. You may park your car below the lookout point or drive up to the restaurant. We all decide to park our car at the open car park below the hill and walk up to the restaurant.

It took us 15 minutes walks to the restaurant as we take our time climbing the stairways heading to the restaurant while enjoying the view. When we reach, it was a breath taking seeing the view. There were a lot of restaurants available for you to choose from fine dining to fusion food.

We decide to eat at Look Out Point which serves Western Food. We choose the place due to there are much more crowd compare to the other restaurant. In our mind, if there were a lot of people throngs to the outlet, means the food serve they are good. It a good place to hang out with your buddies or having romantic dinner with your loved one.

For the food, order the food with simple name as some of our order reach late. Luckily for my main course, it came fast. It was sizzling chicken chop. Didn’t snap the other food as we went in a group so I have to control my manners not to be obsess in taking photo of the food as some of them not that keen I’m taking photo of their food as their were hungry. Maybe next time when I’m alone with my wife, I can have a proper picture of the food. For the service, it quite bad as their tend to forget to deliver the food to our table. Those who came late received their food early than us. Hope the management will look into this and overall the food is nice.

Sungai Gabai Waterfall, getaway to nature @ Hulu Langat Selangor

For city folks, there is a place for getaway from bustling and hustling scene which is just a distance away from the city Key Ell. There is a nice waterfall which is suitable for picnic with family members or with friends.

On one of the weekend, me and my wife together with a bunch of friends when for site survey for the next BBQ and picnic outing. So we decide to go Sungai Gabai waterfall which is located at Hulu Langat.

It a 40 minutes’ drive from city centre to the location. It all depend on the traffic flow as well as usually, the waterfall always pack with peoples during the weekend. When we reached the place, it was hard to find a parking and you have to pay RM1 per person. You can park your car by the road side as long as you don’t block the traffic flows. Sungai Gabai waterfall is a cascades and vertical waterfall. The car park is near to the waterfall. As it was weekend, it was jam packed with people.

There were some resting place been erected along the staircase to the upper part of the waterfall. There were few cascade waterfalls which you need to climb using the cemented stairways built by the park. This is my worst ever experience as I almost faint climbing the staircase as it was steep. I’m surely advice for those who wish to visit here, make sure you are fully fit and drink a lot of water. I’d caused my wife and her friend panic as my face turn pale when we reach the middle part of the waterfall. After I rest for a while, I regain my strength and we decide to go and have a picnic on the below part of the waterfall. This means I need to exercise to gain my stamina back as I used to be before I started work in KL. Back in Sarawak, I actively involves in playing football and doing outdoor chores such as cutting the grass and gardening.

It is indeed a beautiful sight to behold and a serene place to unwind. Surrounded by greens, it truly a calming scenes with the sound of water gushing down the cascade more than 100m high is music to my ears. You can see a lot of people playing in the water and slides along the waterfall cascades.

Rescued Asian Leopard Cat @ Sungai Long

Seem like it had been a long time I had posted any post on my blog. Some of my friend ask me why I had not posted any post. Ermmm… I can’t answer that as well maybe I’m lazy to edit those photos which I took and post it on my blog.

I found a nice story to post as it related to a responsible act of a good Samaritans. This happen a day before Chinese New Year this year where my wife friend managed to rescued an Asian Leopard Cat. It was injured and was found lying in the middle of the road. My wife friend with her family members were on the way back returning from the temple after prayer which nearly to midnight where they found the injured animal.

With the compassionate hearts towards the poor thing, they decide to send the cat to the nearest vet for treatment. According to her, some of the staffs don’t dare to treat the animals and keep on passing to another doctor for treatment. At last, a doctor came to offer for help and treats the cat and does some checkup. The poor thing was kept in the vet hospital for few days before they were called to collect it.

I had asked my wife friend either I can took the photo of the cats before releasing back to the wild as it’s a crime to rare a protected animals in Malaysia. I’d called Perhilitan either the cat can be rare and there are few procedures to apply for the license to keep it. They advice me either release the cat back to the wild where the cat were found or give it to Perhilitan so that they can release it at a suitable place.

My wife friend mum had sought the temple monk and was told to release it to the forest where they found it. Finally, it was released back to the wild and it was a good deed as what wild still remains wild. You can’t dosmeticated the wild animal as pets. I’d Google the internet and found out the Asian Leopard cat pricing are pricey. It can cost RM3200 in Malaysia market.

Now it’s near to Chinese New Year and be ushering the year of the Rabbit. I’d snapped few photo of CNY deco but I won’t post it now as I still yet to post the Christmas Deco for 2010. Maybe I will bundle it up in a video for you guys to view.

New Airlines to Sarawak, FireFlyz B737-800

Today, I will post about a new flight which I recently aboard from my last trip from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur. I was in Kuching for working purpose and during that week tons of activities occurs in Kuching such as the Tribal convention at BCCK and our beloved CM getting married with a young woman (A new benchmark of achievement for other old lads to follow).

My sister working with STB told me the Fireflyz maiden flight to Kuching – KL routes was organized a few days before it open for public. It was greeted by 2 fire engines giving a water salutes when it arrive on the tarmac near to the air ramp.

I booked my flight ticket together with my fellow colleague from Indonesia to KL using Fireflyz as his connecting flight to Jakarta using MAS at KLIA. Since Fireflyz is a subsidiary company of MAS same goes with MasWings, the flight is using KLIA as it hubs.

For the service, I guess it was much more better than Air Asia and no hidden fees occurs. It’s is much more convenient for elderly ppl and those OKU as it using the aerobridge than walking through tarmac. For the seat, it’s much more spacious than AirAsia.

The one thing about fireflyz is the delays but since it’s just new, so I guess there are still room for improvement. Hope, Fireflyz will consider other part of Sarawak as their new routes such as Sibu and I guess most Central Region of Sarawak would be glad if they have the other options to fly to Kuala Lumpur.

Under the Christmas Tree @ The Curve Mutiara Damansara

One of the shopping malls which in previous year always come with special Christmas themes but this year the deco is simple and the mall not heavily decorated. The Curve at Mutiara Damansara comes with “Under the Christmas Tree” theme for 2010.

The concourse area stood still a small house decorated with few cartoon characters. It was simple and there were more small shops opening besides it selling Christmas goodies.

As the decoration was not too fancy, so i just snapped few photo. The only thing I love to go the mall is the 3 pieces band playing on the high street.

The band did perform previously 2 years back where there were four of them but this year it only 3 of them. When we ask the band leader, it was sad to hear that the one of the member when to somewhere which we can’t follow as our time yet to be called by Him. It was a shocked news and once they told us, we were also saddened by the news. The band although down with 1 member, they still perform well. So if you were around the curve, do watch them perform at High Street.

A Raily Magical Christmas @ Empire Shopping Gallery Subang Jaya

Let’s continue with the journey with me around Klang Valley for Christmas Deco hunt 2010. As on my previous post I posted about LEGO Christmas tree at Bangsar Village II, now I would like to share another new shopping mall located at Subang Jaya called Empire Shopping Gallery. It’s a new shopping mall and the only shopping mall which host for the tallest indoor spiral tube slide. Maybe you can read more details on the shopping mall websites.

Since the mall are still new, this year for the first time their created a theme for Christmas entitled “A Raily Magical Christmas”. The word raily maybe refers to the trains and the tracks which their included on their themes. They are using tonnes of cotton to create the snow effect.

As i was strolling down the area, there is a booth selling train ticket rides for RM2 per person and the money later will goes to charity. The decoration was quite nice for new established shopping mall. If you are around in Subang Jaya, don’t miss to drop by at Empire Shopping Gallery to view the Christmas deco or take a ride on the indoor tallest spiral slide.
