Bukisa Earnings: Report from Month One

My Bukisa earnings are impressive to me considering the number of articles I have on the site. In case you don't know bukisa is "the place to share your knowledge and be paid when other is using it".

I've joined Bukisa on February 2010 and wrote six simple articles.

I think that for six pieces of content, $17 a month is a good passive income. That is a better outcome than my HubPages and Associated Content experiments.

I sure that my SEO knowledge is one the the major factors of relatively big amount of traffic that my articles are getting (regarding to amount of time I send to writing and promoting them :-)). How the earnings are calculated?
Bukisa doesn’t share ad impressions, instead contributors are paid per 1,000 page views. This is know as the Bukisa index and it varies on a monthly based. At the writing of this article, the index was $3.2 per 1,000 page views. The index is adjusted based on how much the site is making from contextual advertising, banner advertising, e-mail marketing and joint ventures and is usually between $3.00 and $4.00. Bukisa has also referral program and pays 25% of the earnings of those you directly refer, but also on those your referrals refer, up to 3 levels deep.

Twitter Followers for Sale - Does it Worth to Buy

Recently I saw number of post about purchasing twitter followers from different online services. I was curious if it's possible to convert them to something (lead, sale or at least visitor). So I decided to do little experiment.

The goal: to measure CTR of your twitter message from followers accrued by some automatic process (following people in you niche hopping they will follow you back)

I've created new twitter account. The niche I selected was "yoga". I write couple yoga related tweets... nice yoga related avatar ... Being a programmer, it was not that hard to write simple application to follow people according the some keywords (yoga for example :-)).

In short after 24 hours (I didn't run too many automatic queries trying to to be banned by twitter) I had following twitter stats:

1,042 Following

347 Followers

Not I didn't unfollowed people the not followed me. So it looks like it's not that complicate to gain big number of followers. The big question again - is it possible to convert them to something (at least traffic).

Now when I had 347 followers is the time to test how they will respond to my twitts. To test it I simply creates new twit, something like "The most interesting book about Yoga I ever read - http://bit.ly/BOOKLINK". As you probably know you can see clicks stats of bit.ly urls so it was easy for me to control how many from my followers will come to read my message.

Guess how many clicks did I get from my 347 followers? After 24 hours that I published my twit the bitly stats show: 1 click !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll repeat: 1 click from 347 followers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

My conclusion is the twitter followers cost nothing (at least if they are following you just because you are following them).

My Easiest Online Earning

I have been making money online for a year now, started by writing a couple of blogs – like many of us, I guess. But the money didn't come easily from blogging, at least for me; It was something much more simple. I never would have guessed that by just replying on a couple of questions from time to time you can actually make some money or earn gift cards offered by popular retail merchants.

I have been managing several different blogs for some time. I was sure that tech related blog audience will have different priorities than non tech visitors, but I never thought that the difference will be so significant.

Following are two charts (StatCounter) showing distribution of browsers used by visitors of my blogs. All data based on ~5000 unique visitors. The difference is amazing.

For summary:

Do High-Paying Adsense Keywords Really Work?

That’s what I want to talk to you about today. A lot of people try and find on the Internet places where they can buy or get hold of the highest-paying AdSense keywords. The idea is that if you have the right keywords you can actually generate dollars per click. Rather than being paid just a few cents per click from your AdSense ads, if you use the right keywords you can actually generate several dollars per click.

Now a lot of people are advertising for these types of services and these types of high-paying AdSense keyword lists, but do they really work? Well I’ve tried a lot of them out and some of them are better than others. There are free lists out there and, obviously, in this life you get what you pay for. The free lists generally aren’t worth anything at all and really aren’t worth investing your time in.

Some of the paid lists are quite useful. What you should remember though, is that on top of getting the keyword lists you need to actually create the content that includes these keywords on your website.

Just having access to the keywords isn’t going to be enough to generate lots of high-valued clicks for you. If you combine a high-paying keyword list with lots of great content that includes those keywords, then you’re actually starting to get into the realm of high-paying AdSense ads.

Google itself will sometimes implement 'smart pricing.' Smart pricing is Google’s attempt to try and level the playing field. If, for example, you suddenly start to earn massive amounts of revenue from certain clicks, it will somehow rebalance the playing field so that the clicks are better reflected in the actual return on investment for the advertiser.

At the end of the day you need to be delivering clicks through AdSense that are of value to the advertiser. That’s what a lot of people forget about when they start looking at the highest paying AdSense keywords.

Having said all that, you can use these keyword lists to generate lots and lots of revenue. I’ve done this myself on some of my sites and now earn over one thousand dollars every three days. Google pays me lots of money to place their ads on my sites. I’m getting clicks that some of them are worth a few dollars each. The key to it is to get great content. The list on its own is not enough.

So remember that you can succeed with this strategy, but don’t forget to actually create excellent articles and content on your website that include these keywords; not too heavily, but just enough so that the ads displayed are the ones with the highest bids.

Making Money from Parked Domains

Let me tell you a true story. A friend of my who likes to collect domain names was describing a few that he had acquired. While he has a wide range of domains in various categories, these particular domains were all related to web hosting.

Some of the domain names were similar to existing web hosting company names (or derivatives of web hosting company names). Others simply had ‘hosting’, ‘host’, or a related term in the domain itself.

So my friend and I were talking and he said something like, “Yeah, it’s a shame – if only I had the time to develop some content for some of these domains then I might make some money form them”. It turns out that he had no content on any of the domains – just parked pages, or no content at all. When I investigated the domains, it turned out that there was a small but steady traffic stream that visited these domains. Some simply typed in the domain, others apparently found the domain through a search engine that had categorized the parked page.

So I suggested the following to him – why not use a service that will take the domain as is – with no content whatsoever – and suggest search options that generate revenue for each click? He took my advice, grudgingly I might add, and guess what? He made $50 the first month from just a few of his domains.

He was so excited that he asked what he might do to further increase his revenues from his domain names. I suggested that he use his parking pages (these can be customized with some hosts) to test banners from affiliate programs with the highest paying hosting companies. He placed only three banners at the top of his pages – with a brief description of the company’s product offerings taken straight from their web sites. This also proved to be a great success – and his revenue stream increased.

My friend has since invested some time and energy in monetizing his other domains. He has either pointed the domains to a pay per click search engine, or listed affiliate links on almost every domain. This has turned a lackluster domain speculation business into a profit generating pay per click and affiliate business that requires almost no effort to maintain. Needless to say, my friend has taken my out to lunch a couple of times since then.

1) Read the tos and programe policy of adsense. And follow all that very strictly. Remember it changes as well, so keep looking it as frequently as possible.

2) Don’t tell your adsense websites to anyone you know. Friends and family should never know about your adsense websites or blogs. If any friend get’s your adsense links, he may click your ads to help you, and you can get banned. Moreover if your friend turns enemy then you will sure have problems.

3) Don’t make enemies online. Avoid enemies on Internet, as they might give your ads a 20 click and you can get banned instantly.

4) Do not click on your own ads. I don’t think I need to tell you, still am saying because many of you think that clicking once doesn’t hurt, but am telling you one click is enough for your adsense to say goodbye.

5) Google’s crawlers knows everything, don’t try to cheat them. If you play honestly then it will help you more than anyone else.

6) Try to make content, rather than optimize for keywords as made for adsense websites are not tolerated by google any more.

7) Don’t buy duplicate content, or the adsense templates, these same templates are used by so many people, google may ban you for duplicate content.

8) Don’t edit your ads, you already get a lot of opportunities to get a desired ad format and color, there is absolutely no reason to edit your ads once you get it.

9) Don’t put your ads in pages with less content. Also mp3 and video download sites are a violation of the tos so avoid those aswell.

10) To say the least, adsense is not allowed for porn and adult content pages, so stay away from those pages.

Try to make websites and blogs to improve the Internet, add resource and knowledge in text, so that Internet becomes a better place. Don’t create pages simply to make money. Ask yourself, if there is no adsense, will you still be making these websites etc. your primary reason to make websites should not be to make money from adsense. Rather adsense should be treated as an optional feature, that makes your website better.

Remember it’s better to play safe when you are with adsense. An adsense account once blocked is gone for ever.

What I can’t imagine is how they manage to keep all the different blogs fed with quality content. I once tried this strategy with just one or two sites and it was very exhausting getting content for sites outside my area of expertise. There are increasing reports of incidents of pirated online content and I guess you now understand part of the reason why.

When you stick to one subject, keeping all your blogs fed with content becomes a breeze. You simply take one idea and modify it or slant it differently for the different sites. Even more important, it is easy to use the same valuable Adsense keywords for all the sites as you discover them.

Top 11 Paying and Most Searched Keywords on Google and Yahoo

If you have a website, write articles, or want to profit through an affiliate program than this is gold to you! These keywords are the actual top 11 on the internet. Use them and you are on your way to increased traffic, profits and results. Here they are and a little about each to help you on your way.

1) Paris Hilton. Whether we like it or not Paris and her wild lifestyle are here to stay as she is now considered one of the biggest stars. She is sought after by almost every fashion designer and her keywords will do well with any fashion or clothing content.

2) Google. Well, this one is obvious as Google is the largest search engine (regardless what Yahoo says). Being that Google is a search engine it can be used in any content, but works best with relation to websites, search engines, computers and software.

3) Yahoo. The second largest search engine and distant second on Pay per Click campaigns - very, very distant at that. The same will work for Yahoo. Stick with computer related material and you will do well.

4) Ebay. The worlds largest marketplace and auction. Ebay, for the most part is a wholesale marketplace. It is ruled by feedback and can give you a good idea as to the real value of a car (check Ebay motors). On Ebay anything goes including people selling tattoo advertising on themselves. In other words, anything can be linked to Ebay in one way or another. Yes, there is even porn on Ebay.

7) mapquest. Want to know where something is or how to get there. Being that we are getting closer to summer people are plotting out there vacations. Tsunami is probably a big keyword due to the recent specials on TV about the next possible tsunami that might hit America. People are concerned and interested over these large scale natural disasters. When is the next earthquake going to hit California, will atsunami hit New York, and what will this hurricane season bring?

9) Girls. Yes, of course. There are millions of perverts and closet perverts out there that are a little over-fascinated with girls. As Donald Trump once said, "sex sells." Yes it does and nothing sells better than women or girls. They can sell anything including the worst items in infomercials and complete scams. A beautiful girl just needs to show a little cleavage and TV ratings soar. Just think what girls can do for your content.

10) American Idol. This is the top rated TV show and its in its 5th or 6th season. It has launched one star - Kelly Clarkson and a bunch of duds. Randy, Paula and simon have now become household names along with Ryan Seacrest. Any content you can tie into the current cast will do well. The previous casts should be avoided as they will soon go back to karaoke and such at local bars.

11) Skin care and skin treatment. This has always been a big one with women. It has been rumored that women will go without food before they will go without makeup and such. Just ask any department store how important skin care and skin treatment products are to their bottem line. There is no doubting the success of Google's Adsense program. Even Yahoo! and Kanoodle have joined in on the game, offering to join publishers with advertisers. Given the right circumstances, its a win / win situation for both.

There have been many sites that promote Top Paying Keywords and how if you add these keywords you can instantly improve your Adsense revenue. However, if you really want to see a dramatic increase in pay per clicks, you need to ensure 2 very important areas are addressed. They seem very obvious, but many site owners miss the opportunity to attract higher paying ads simply because they ignore these two areas.

Optimization

Many "would be" web designers decide to build a site around the highest paying keywords, yet, forget to optimize their site around a specific keyword. Instead, they forget the basics of how to properly create a title tag, page description, keyword density and having clean search engine spider friendly code. Remember, it's the source code that the Adsense and Kanoodle programs are using to decide what ads will appear. If your top 2 keywords are "insurance" and "downloads", you may find that you end up with ads regarding "insurance downloads" which of course will not pay much.

Also, having a high keyword density score for the keyword can get you into trouble with the search engines (specifically Google). Keywords spamming is never a good idea.

Optimize your page and you will search more hits to that page and not confuse the bots that create the ads for you.

Content

This is by far the most important and most missed tips. If you are going to include top paying keywords on your site, remember, if you want to attract high paying ads, you need to be selling your visitor on what your advertiser wants. Your content should sell to the visitors needs. Why should your visitor consider car insurance? What are the benefits of car insurance? Where can they get the best quotes? If you pique the interest of your visitor, they are more likely to click on your ads than if they feel that they are not getting the information they came to your site for in the first place.

Your content should have a specific flow to it. If you start jamming keywords into your content, your visitor will automatically suspect that you are trying to deceive them. Once you do that, they are gone! Why waste your visitors time after working so hard to get them to your site in the first place? Well optimized, focused content will always produce better, higher paying ads. That is why you are a publisher: you want those high paying ads on your site. What use though are those high paying keywords if your content doesn't pique your visitors curiosity? Be passionate about your content, and the click through rates will skyrocket!
