Hello Everyone!

Thank you for the interest in having a copy of the Bible Study and Prayer Guide for personal sized planner.

I intended to e-mail the files to everyone who listed in, but I never expected to receive almost 200 comments from various groups, that it will take a long time before I type each address.

I am providing this post so you can download the printable pages directly.

If I find the time, I will explain further how I use this system and share the inspirations where I got it from. It is a compilation of personal and researched preferences in doing personal devotions with the Lord. You can follow it and apply your personal touch. I, myself, doesn't strictly follow the "numbering". I even merge the steps from time to time. Also, I never get to write every prayer and conversation with God, there are times that I am totally directly praying in my head and just jot keywords. Anyway, I will share more of this on another post.

So here are the printable sheets! Give me feedback about how you used it, and improvements are always welcome. God bless!

Oh wait, it's already July now. The past months had been a whirlwind!
Though there is actually much to say, I'll let my artworks do the talking first.
During these roller coaster months, (and is still now), I have somewhat explored a different genre of art.
This had been my therapy, a way to release my worst emotions and thoughts.

Probably I'll post the images one-by-one, or in batches. In the following posts, I'll be sharing my personal life. Yes, artists have their down moments in life, too. But then, let my art doodles show how I am standing up again.

I forgot to mention, my right hand felt numb this month. Actually, until now.

I don't know. I am wondering if this will last for a long time. It does not hurt as bad as before, but it is quite numb until now.

Anyway, this impediment will not hinder me from doing more artworks - it's my bread and butter. Got to do something about this though.

Materials and Cost Estimate Meme

Just want to share this week's design experience. The gruesome materials and cost estimates.

It is an aspect in interior design where the designer sources out the materials to be used in the design and how much it will cost. Of course, this is only an estimate. The actual cost may vary.

As much that this is one of the heaviest work of being an interior designer, this is a knowledge-packed activity which can bring the designer's vision into fruition and also a step higher to the journey in the design field.

I had enjoyed doing the cost estimate for the condo project I am doing right now. :)

And after almost a week of doing so, I came with this meme conclusion.

Of course, I still had fun along the way.

Building and Design Materials: Piedra China

The Chinese Granite Cobblestone, or popularly known as "PIEDRA CHINA" here in the Philippines, are commonly used as pave stones for garages and entry roads for houses that require the aged look.

The name "PIEDRA CHINA" implies Stone from China.

I first encountered this natural material when I was part of an ancestral house restoration project. It was a 1940's house with a mix of Art Nouveau and Art Deco design style situated within the Malacanang Compound.

There was an abundance of these stones, that we thought of re-using them. (At first I thought the piedra chinas are only cement slabs cut to random tile size patterns).

As we were hauling it, to be rearranged, the contractor in-charge to restore all the wood works told me that these 'stones', were shipped from China. These where volcanic stones used as a ballast for Chinese ships and galleons. When a ship reach the Philippines,they will buy silver to be imported at China. The piedra china will be unloaded, making the silver items now the ballast of the ship as they return to China. The piedra chinas will be then used as pave stones, and as a construction material at that time.

The piedra china's color ranges from grey. rustic browns, and toned purple. It has an amazing visual character that we can be reminded of the "ancestral' or "bahay na bato" look. These stones age from 300 - 400 years, or even more! This is a perfect material to be used for that ancestral look, Mediterranean, or any style that requires the rustic charm look!

Rockwell Land organized these exhibit to give the unit owners of The Grove opportunities to source out for interior designers and furniture suppliers.

The theme is Secrets to Style Your Home: 100% Rockwell An Interior Design and Home Fair

It was a first time experience for my part in representing our company's services.

These are the actual photos of our mini interior design exhibit.

We got this huge painting by Galleria Duemila.

Upholstery by FabricField.

Signage by Artfresco.

Have Reg prepared the Guest Book and Business cards, and also bookmarks too.

Placed the portfolio upfront.

And presented the entire booth open to all interior design, architectural, landscaping and construction inquiries.

Aside from the actual exhibit booth, we also got prepared for various prospect client questions regarding our services. Good thing, our principal architect was around during the 'tough-questioning-times'.

This is one really tiring yet fulfilling experience as an interior designer in regards to setting up booths, catching people's attention, answering inquiries and explaining what you can do (or getting exposed to things that you haven't done before.)

The next time, I will be much more prepared and still excited as well!

Art and Art History

Interior Design is an art form founded by the human need for comfort, aesthetics and most of all, the basic, shelter for human habitation. But before we go through a series of interior design art and living, let's start defining the basics in this fields.

Let's define art in it's basic sense.

I have always defined ART as a "way of living."

The art of reading, the art of eating, the art of singing, and the list goes on. Though art can denote any activity we can do, let's define it in a more specific sense that is related to Interior Design - the visual arts.

In order to get a deeper meaning of this field, we must establish the roots of the art forms we see today. Where did it start and how it influenced the whole world, or vice versa, how did the world influence the art we saw, we see, and we will see in the moments to come.

I have compiled here definition of art and history. Hopefully, we will be able to discuss various art styles and histories in the coming posts in the future.

Art is a term that describes a diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities, but is most often understood to refer to painting, film, photography, sculpture, and other visual media. Music, theatre, dance, literature, and interactive media are included in a broader definition of art or the arts. Until the 17th century, art referred to any skill or mastery and was not differentiated from crafts or sciences, but in modern usage the fine arts are distinguished from acquired skills in general.

History is the discovery, collection, organization, and presentation of information about past events. History can also mean the period of time after writing was invented. Scholars who write about history are called historians.

Art history has historically been understood as the academic study of objects of art in their historical development and stylistic contexts, i.e. genre, design, format, and style. This includes the "major" arts of painting, sculpture, and architecture as well as the "minor" arts of ceramics, furniture, and other decorative objects.

The visual arts are art forms that create works which are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture,printmaking, design, crafts, and often modern visual arts (photography, video, and filmmaking) and architecture. These definitions should not be taken too strictly as many artistic disciplines (performing arts, conceptual art, textile arts) involve aspects of the visual arts as well as arts of other types. Also included within the visual arts are the applied arts such as industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design and decorative art.

I am sure we can have our own definition of art and a further understanding based on our experiences and resources presently available to us. The world is revolving, everyday there's an opportunity to define a 'new' form of art.

Culture Crash Fan Manga

Lo, and behold!

More than a decade ago, during my high school days, a Filipino Manga emerged and I once enjoyed it during my younger artsy days.

It was called CULTURE CRASH, CCCom, for short.

Fascinated by it, I sent a letter, but not just an ordinary letter. It was an art. It was to the point, that the makers of Culture Crash Comics even published it on their Comic Magazine. All fun and glee that moment was! Then came a dilemma, I lost that copy!

So here is my PLEA! Anyone out there, who has a copy of Culture Crash, (it was from Issue 5, I believe. If not, Issue 5.5).

Please, please, please! Send me a copy,

even just a scanned original page!

I would be delighted to get to see it in full color again!

MANILA FAME March 2012 - Philippines

Manila FAME was founded in 1983 by by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and is one of the longest running trade shows in the Asia-Pacific.  Since its founding, the show has been featuring the latest creation and design trends in furniture and furnishings, holiday and gifts and fashion. Through the years, Manila FAME has been nurturing Philippine creative manufacturers and producers and continues to promote them in the global market.

It is the only event in the Philippines approved by the Union des Foires Internationales (UFI), a Paris-based association of trade fair organizers.

In October 2011, Manila FAME and three other major sourcing events in the Philippines -- manila now, CEBUNEXT andBijoux Cebu -- merged into a single event in order to bring even more products to more buyers, serve more markets and showcase Philippine design and artistry. The show highlighted products set in a retail concept and developed under three global trends: Naturalist, Mood Indigo and Graffiti. It also featured skilled artisans demonstrating their craft in creating products with the use of indigenous materials such as capiz, buri and rattan. Read more at THECITEMBLOG.

Manila FAME brings together manilanow, CEBUNEXT and Bijoux Cebu, four of the country's major sourcing events, to mark the Philippines as Asia's design destination for lifestyle products in furniture & furnishings, holiday & gifts, and fashion.

As described, I have seen different collaboration of various design industries from home accessories, furniture and jewelries. Seeing the word "bijoux", I already knew there will be jewelries on display, but coming from Cebu? I anticipated more on what to see.

We went on the first day of the exhibit. If possible, go on the first day, the best ones are displayed, and most of the time, a known artist will be there. For this event, I get to see the famous Kenneth Cobonpue. I should have taken a picture with him, but I was to shy. (I really should have!) I also saw Prietto - the one with exaggeratedly unique fashion style.
