The new Hot 96.9 is putting on the heat in the April ratings

It's really no surprise to see contemporary hits (or Top 40) WXKS/Kiss 108 at No. 1 in the new ratings released Tuesday, but the newcomer - rhythmic adult contemporary WBQT/Hot 96.9 - grabs the headline because its No. 14 overall ranking gave it a 3.1 share and an average weekly reach of 633,000 listeners. WEEI 93.7 is bringing John Tournour, better known as J.T. “The Brick”, back to Boston radio, adding his late night FOX Sports Radio show to station’s lineup starting this Sunday night/Monday morning. The 1am-6am show will air on WEEI from Sunday-Thursday, it was announced yesterday.

WBZ 98.5/The SportsHub today named  announcer Bob Socci as its Patriots play-by-play announcer for next season, teaming with analyst Scott Zolak. As was first reported last week in the Boston Globe, former ESPN 890 personality Mike Salk has been 
officially named the new co-host at WEEI/SportsRadio 93.7. He will join Michael Holley in

Glenn Ordway, a longtime Boston sports radio personality has been let go. WEEI/SportsRadio 93.7 has decided to part ways with Glenn Ordway, co-host of "The Big Show", it was announced on Wednesday.  

Ordway announced on the air his last day will be this Friday(2/15). TJ  Taormina has been named morning show host at CBS Boston Radio's WODS/103.3 AMP Radio. The NJ native, Taormina,  starts in April and is joining Boston's AMP on-air staff from the syndicated Clear Channel/Premiere Networks "Elvis Duran Morning Show" based at WHTZ/"Z100" in NYC.

As WTKK's news/talk format went silent earlier this week, its former morning show hosts keep talking. Jim Braude and Margery Eagan will occupy the WGBH 89.7 studios as guest hosts for a special edition of station's local talk block "Boston Public Radio" this coming Tuesday(1/8) from 12pm-2pm.

The folks at Greater Media are having some fun playing the Wheel of Formats as they transform their way to a new format on 96.9FM to formally replace News/Talk 96.9.

Boston has been without a full-time urban contemporary radio format for seven and a half years, but that's all changed this morning. WTKK's talk format signed off to the sounds of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" as Rhianna's current hit "Diamonds" launched brand new Power 96.9 a few moments after 10am.
