Paul McCartney in Manchester - Oh Yeah!!

After a long bout of being sick - now getting to my blog posts

Going back a few weeks to Dec 16th

I'm in Manchester and it's costing me 30p per min to type you here... OK so it's been an adventure already .. we fly in to Manchester and had to be diverted to Birmingham.. the flight was already a 1/2 late .. as we sat in the plane for a few hours.. mind you, we were in a very cramped aircraft !! everyone was upset of course it was snowing buckets at the airport also ice.. finally, at 11:30am we flew back to Manchester it was still snowing and tons of ice around.. I was up over 24 hours with no sleep ..

I was suppose to arrive at 7:30am but after customs and getting suitcase it was 1pm- sad.. cos I didn't know where to get the train the cab cost £25 wheww... there goes the walking money .. gotta get monies somehow .. I was walking forever, last night, trying to find a shopping center .. Whew thank God, I arrived a few days early .. thos will be my last post for a bit since I have no computer ..

Well what did you do?

My 1st few days consisted of trying to find plug adapters for appliances, what a pain in the ass,, the hotel, finally provided me with a few.. it was interesting walking around the Manchester as I went to the right of the hotel and walked to a mall several blocks away .. people were very friendly and inviting and especially in awe that I had flown from the US to the UK to see Paul McCartney... :) people I spoke to wanted to know what the US was like.. I loved the friendliness of the people in Manchester.. I had told several people .. I was going to Liverpool.. to see Macca there also.. residents of Manchester claimed:

I LOVE LIVERPOOL! it made me think of the football rivalry ..ha! not one bad thing said against Liverpool from the people of Manchester..swear!
one thing to mention, the pizza isn't that great .. but when you add the garlic sauce it's more tasty..
is veggie piazza a veggie pizza? well... where's the veggies on the piazza?

Gig Day in Manchester!! Sound check- aaah WTF?!!

I was happy when gig day approached.. I had seen several people whom I hadn't seen in years.. alotta laugh & giggles.. however,...there was an air of superiority/ elitist attitudes. really? FUCK THAT!!! I thought it was my lack of sleep>- Note to self... David Lynch charity gig....NO! Check this, nobody's a better fan than the next person whether you have met Paul McCartney, your self, been to two gigs or 100's ...attitudes really sucked. Embarrassing- Why do people act like they are so much fucking better than the next fan?.. is it money? -

well lets fast forward to the Sound check it's self ...more of that later ... after being searched by security - we really didn't have many problems gaining entrance..the reception it's self was set up beautifully.. hot drinks and pastries.. we hadn't been at the reception area no more than 5 minutes. When Tim from MPL, ( I believe his name was ) announced Paul had arrived early.. it was time to go to the sound check it's self.. we scurried into what seemed like a small arena.. outcomes Paul, and he greets us all!! woohooo..
it's really something to attend those sound checks. each one different.. they were really jamming tightly today.. everyone dancing and having a great time - it didn't seem so cliquey at the sound check..:) Macca reads signs and of course I brought the BLUEBIRD sign . Paul read it I'm guessing as he broke into Bluebird ..There was no dedication this time or change of lyrics like at Yankee's Stadium..this past summer..

I do appreciate Paul singing it... very much. There were two girls from Argentina, sisters who had a banner " Go PAUL -LUV from Argentina"- Paul read it of course.. (I have a banner that large to hard to hold by myself )..than there was Phil with his Christmas hat ..too funny, some fans from Japan, the UK and of course the US ...and one lady who came from Korea..was she related to MJ Kim Paul's fotographer? Paul called no one up on stage during Sound check.. and soon it was over off for a dinner.. I'm forgetting the Sound check set list at the moment...oops~

Hello people. getting ready to leave for England to see Paul McCartney in Manchester & Liverpool in the morning- in less than 12 hours.. Just packing now.. Have to get up at 5am - wake up and head to San Francisco airport .. I'm so excited! I hope, I can sleep a few hours..How cold is it going to be in Manchester & Liverpool? I Love England.. I Love Liverpool..Oh I cannot wait..

Note: Remembering my passport is key ..ha! In the last two weeks Macca had played Paris, Cologne, Bologna, London, Stockholm, Finland & tonight Moscow..I heard from friends that all gigs have been superb and Paul in fine voice.. woooohoo I cannot wait to hear Paperback Writer they kick ass on that song! & some of the new songs, Paul, has added to the set list Least fav, live 'Lemme Roll It"

HEY You! reading this, were you there at any of the above gigs? Are you going to Rawk out in England- Manchester or Liverpool-post a message ...

Manchester & Liverpool surely to be a party- especially Liverpool.. Every Paul McCartney gig is an event to had and experience.. Cannot post from the road unless I find cheap internet :) Sure hope this will be, my time of times, to meet Paul.. a dream for sure .. but I hold onto that dream..

9:19pm haha! everything doesn't fit into my rollie .. I had to pull out the big suit case, geez.. more airline fees..my budget is tight already...

Who's going?~ who's excited?!!!! Hey people it's November 24th- in the US they are celebrating Thanksgiving ..Other parts of the world, who knows? What I do know is, Paul McCartney is about to kick off the last part of 2011 in Europe.. with his 'On The Run Tour'.. He recently played Abu Dhabi. I for one have no idea where Abu Dhabi is? I'm sure it was great, as ALL Paul McCartney gigs are great and if you have a ticket your in for a treat!
So me, me,.. Lil Ol self will be heading to Manchester on December 15th.. Not ready for it yet; have to get psyched! Life's been happening, distracting me from these up coming gigs and my blog.. For those that follow, please, keep following...sorry for the lag..

No, Say it isn't so?

Damn, it's so bittersweet as these will most likely be the last two gigs I see Macca in concert . I thought New York, this past summer was my last- however, I got creative and so I AM going- Yeah ME!!! After 40 plus McCartney concerts I am past tapped out.. awww..in car repairs mind you freakin BMW's hahahaha.. I was walking to work and on the bus the other day as my vehicle broke down for the 10th time saying: "Man, I've been half way around the world, seeing Paul McCartney all over the place and here, I have no money to fix; let alone buy a new car"..It was really something to think about as, I continued to walk.. In just a few short weeks I'll be flying to England,, and here I walk, no money in my pockets- an odd sobering fact,,,

I am so grateful of this day that I will be able to go to the UK too see Paul McCartney, especially in Liverpool.. I have not been to Liverpool since 2003 (One of my most favorite- memorial gigs to date ). Last, Macca was in Liverpool in summer and winter in recent years - I could not get a ticket! .This means so much; for a broke ass working girl like me.... so please, stay tuned.. and let's see what unfolds.. Paul McCartney is in Italy Rocking them Italians this week on November 27th.. I'm sure he will be greeted with a passionate crowd.. I must say, I dig the European gigs the best, just sayin :)

Hello people - I have lagged so much on my blog.. needing to update that Vegas post also Macca in New York,, yeah, I know, no excuses right?.. I've been stuck ..OK? Well if today isn't a day of events. John Lennon would have been 71 years old.. I can't picture that at the moment .My thoughts are over shadowed by Paul McCartney getting married again.

Speaking of Mr. McCartney, Paul, is getting married right about now to Nancy Shevell soon to be Mrs McCartney, in London the same place Paul McCartney married Linda McCartney over 40 years ago..I kinda like that..

OK, here it goes. (as my mind has been thinking about this for weeks ) .am I the only one who is not really fond of these nuptials? sure as a fan of Paul I always wish for his eternal happiness, truly swear by it. why couldn't they have just shack up? I'm for that -nothing wrong with it right?.. I'm not feeling this I don't know why.

In New York, at the McCartney gig Nancy, was standing in front of me barely speaking in a whisper saying hello to friends.. I didn't feel warmth generating from her but a coldness..I guess that was what made me sad.. She is tall, very slender, long dark hair who had nice toe polish on a lavender polish as I remember.. She reminded me of a plastic doll if that makes any sense...

I almost said to her - Nancy, as she was standing not even a foot from me facing me
" I hope you make Paul Happy!" but I couldn't bring myself to it.. I am a lover of Love and perhaps it will take me some tome to get used to the new misses..

Paul McCartney, might not realize this but his fans feel like part of his extended family. Many of us that he has never met. The only communication I've had with Paul was screaming to and from the stage..ha! So in the end I might be one of the very few minority who is not happy bout his marriage I'll get over it. as I close this post I hear Paul & Nancy have just married walking out of the London registry......just a few moments ago... I think of Paul & Linda walking out of that registry.. aww.

Hey people - swear I will get with you on that Vegas, Macca gig via my friend.. I'm just about to get off work.. go home and pack and head to the airport to take the red eye to New York City to kick off Paul McCartney's New Tour " Paul McCartney On The Run" Nice ring to it right? - at Yankee's Stadium- My Dear Friend "Jen" of Paul McCartney fame, who had her arm signed by Macca last year in Toronto is already their waiting on me.. SADLY, I had to work today - but will be there tomorrow on minimal sleep mind you - yikes!!~ I arrive at 6:30 am in New York.. I hope I meet Paul this time ,.... please --- I wish really hard.. Off work now...

Geez It's Sept 5th and I gotta update these blog posts`.. I will .. After that whirl wind trip to New York,.. I have lagged as things didn't go how I had hoped.....

Lisa Marie Glive..30 Residence: Montreal, Canada I've been singing professionally since the age of 8, when I started in a volunteer entertainment group that traveled across Montreal to various hospitals and senior citizens' homes. Prior to that, I was raised in a house where playing rock 'n' roll records was a constant. I think Paul McCartney may have been some of the first words I ever uttered. I spent my days drowning myself in his music, and slowly began to replace regular speech with singing. I never let go of that passion, and it keeps me singing to this day. Why The Beatles? Why Paul? Because they resonate love and all things positive in a world shadowed by too much hatred and negative energy. From a young age, I favored beautiful melodies, and Paul was the Mozart of the 20th century in terms of melody.

Right about now - This very minute ..Paul McCartney is playing a packed stadium for tens of thousands of Beatle's fans at El Monumental..in Lima Peru.. I could only imagine the thousands of screaming fans.. heh heh Rodrigo, who sat next to me at the Hollywood Bowl is there now from Lima~-he surely must be having a blast!!! Would have LOVED to have been there or Any gig is South America .. ( Rodrigo I see the news of you and your family below!!!!! BRILLIANT!)

From news vids I've seen over the net; fans camped out once again, for days, to secure a great spot ... * but of course ) queuing at 7am in the morning.. Video clips below, include: Paul arriving in Lima & waving to fans.. Also a mob seen as Macca arrives at the stadium Paul McCartney, gets mobbed in his car by wild fans~ wow!! Hey people, remember last summer when I wrote about an amazing trip to Toronto and never finished it?.. I suppose now is a good time as any to finish said post.. link is here - ( for those who need refreshing ) titled: I'm on my way to Toronto a Paul McCartney adventure.. I left off at:

"Hey people, these last two gigs were some of Paul McCartney's best ever! I lost my fucking phone in a cab..& my friend Jen got her arm signed by Paul at the sound check.. what the? I am happy for her.. I wish it was me.. but Jen deserves it!~..I swear, I didn't cry when she walked up to me tonight- me in the 14th row on the isle.. I was shocked.. more, when I get back to the states..~ I have a very very early flight!!"

I had wrote a bloggy post about Jen and her newly inked arm.. and forgot, sorta, about this post giving her the limey light:

That first night in Toronto as Jen and I were in the second row center- we were sweating bullets.. having the time of our lives.. It was hard to get to sleep that night as I was posting on my blog and at McCartney.com.. Very bright and very early, the next morning after what seemed like 4 hours sleep a very loud siren or alarm went off .. It was the fucking fire alarm.. shit, down 20 flights of stairs on a jacked up knee.. damn that pissed me off.. ( What will happen next? ) after the clear signal no fucking fire.. I thought I'd take a nap.. for tonight's gig with Paul McCartney again.. Yeah!

The phone rings and hour later.. It's Jen - we talked about what we would do if were were going to meet Paul McCartney, that day.. Jen had a huge feeling that day she would meet Paul for some odd reason, as today, she was going to the Sound check before the gig.. and what was to happen - became a reality for Ms. Dodge as she held up her sign at the sound check.. Jen had thought Paul had forgotten as Paul,. read the sign and told her to save her arm strength..Well you know -I was a complete mess when she walked up to me and should me ..her....

PAUL MCCARTNEY HAD SIGNED HER FUCKING ARM ONLY A FEW HOURS AGO!!

Wow! Just fucking wow!! Now, I have known people who have had their parts signed by Paul McCartney, himself.. but this is special to me - for the fact Jen is a dear friend.. and a great fan.. As always Paul McCartney and his band put on a brilliant show!! Mull of Kyntire was insane! that was well worth it for the flight coming from California.. mishaps and all -and the camera dying of course.. hahaha~ nothing as priceless than seeing Paul McCartney - live - truly..

Girl, left who was sitting next to me that second night.. The Canadians are some of the greatest people out of all the gigs I have attended.. The best gigs are by far - have been the most memorable for me..( Some greats in the states..) by out side the states - pure magic!..

Ha- as always we never want the gig to end.. piccie right of some musicians playing Beatles & AC/DC tunes after the gig.. I had to capture the moment.. me, walking back to the hotel.. Hey Where's my cab?!!!

The following day- I had an early flight to catch.Getting outta Toronto was horrible..Once on the plane my thoughts wondered over the last few days spent in Toronto..

OK, so I'm watching American Idol.. Than it's James - ( The Rocker ) turn to pick a song from his favorite artist whom he admires - Loves.. And who does he pick? Paul McCartney..That's right What the? Dude are you serious?!! What Macca song is he going to sing?.. Maybe I'm Amazed.. Ok, the kids got 'The Rocker' Voice. Last week he did a Judas Priest - hit.. nailed it . How will he do with Maybe I'm Amazed?

Damn dude, that was freaking great. It Rocked! Like Randy said you "slayed it" My only critique would be; you didn't get to sing the song in it's entirety! RUDE ROCK ‘N’ WOE BOOK

After a six-year struggle to get it into print, Geoff Baker - former PR to Paul McCartney, The Beatles and Oasis - is finally publishing his rude, racy and irreverent novel about the music industry.

Rock Bottom is Baker’s black-humored but fond satire which pokes a tongue behind the scenes and between the sheets at almost every aspect of the record business.

The first, limited edition of 1,000 copies will be available on Amazon from February 14th, priced £7.99. It will be published by Ragabond Press, a micro publisher that Baker set up with another former journalist, Jill Newton, after the UK’s mainstream publishers refused to touch his book.

Baker says Rock Bottom is ‘a work of complete and utter fiction’. The 400-page paperback romps and ruts through the conjoined stories of a flagging rock star, his demented PR and a blackmailing fan who threatens to ruin the pop idol’s reputation by unmasking a long-hidden sexual secret.

‘The star, Birmingham-born genius Ian Taylor, is not remotely based on anyone I’ve known,’ said Baker, ‘I made him up and he is as fictional as Henry the Horse who dances the waltz.’

Instead of writing about actual people I’ve worked with, it was more interesting for me to create fictional types of that rock world – the musicians, managers, record company execs – and to have a laugh at what fame can do to people and how it can disastrously affect those who work around the famous.

‘But what was of most interest to me was to make the fan the central character of the book; the fans’ feelings are often overlooked in the music game so I made the fan the heroine for a change.

‘Rock Bottom is basically a celebrity love story, but it’s quite sad in parts – rock ‘n woe, we call it. It is also the flipside of The X-Factor, revealing the madness and misery of making it big, so in some ways it’s a cautionary tale for those who long to see their name in lights.

‘The book is also rather rude. We were thinking of having a Parental Advisory sticker on it as the vernacular of the business is certainly not kids’ stuff and as a word search revealed there are 864 f-words in the book those who dislike bad language might be better off reading Trainspotting instead.’

Although Ian Taylor’s genius but mercurial temperament was drawn from Baker’s imagination,

he admits that various journalist characters who play supporting roles in the lurid drama were partly inspired by old pals from his newspaper days on Fleet Street.

‘I’ll be interested to see if any mates from the hack pack that I used to run with recognize anything of themselves in the book,’ said Baker, 54, ‘A number of them are editors now.’

It has taken Baker more than six years to publish his novel.

‘I wrote the original story in three months, back in 2004. I got a leading literary agent and he enthusiastically sent the manuscript to every major publisher – but none of them would touch it with a bargepole. Four years of rewrites followed, my funds ran out and if it hadn’t been for the support and belief of my wife Amanda throughout it all, I’d be rotting in debtor’s prison.’

‘Pissed off but unbowed’, Baker and Newton – an old Lyme Regis school pal - formed their own micro publishing company, Ragabond Press.

‘Jill and I re-met by chance after having not seen each other for more than 35 years. We talked about the book and realized that as she was trained as an editor and a sub and I was trained as a hack, maybe we could combine our skills for the book’ said Baker.

‘So between us we took on every aspect of getting a book done – editing, proofing, type-setting, layout, design, photography, distribution, marketing, PR, the lot.’

Now Ragabond Press, which is based in Newton and Baker’s home town of Lyme Regis, has seven self-penned books in production and is considering publishing other writers.

‘Rock Bottom comes out on Amazon on February 14 and we’re going to take several months to slowly plug it, just like I used to with a rock album,’ said Baker, whose next project is Ragabond Press’s The Beatles Fanthology, the story of the Fab Four told through the memories and stories of Beatles fans.

Ricky Gervais- he hosted The Golden Globes.. The guy was freakin brilliant! totally hilarious! It was one of the best Golden Globby's ever. NOT, stale and boring.. he was great last year as well...you know it. Can people get a freakin sense of humour? We yawn at these boring award shows; kissing people's asses, so fake and phoney- Ricky G. kept it real.. ( that's why I love BET award shows- not overly censored ) There was nothing mean spirited or over the top on his gig, stop trippin.. Well done Ricky- I applaud you for your genius..You were funny, I laughed so hard. And in these current times.. we could all use some laughs-carry on!~ :)

Give the guy a break, he just took over Larry King's spot. I like his interviewing style.. People are bitchin about Piers already? The world is watching..What does the Egyptian Government have to hide with these attacks on journalists; and protesters..preventing journalists to report the news to the rest of the world; pretending this is not going on-right?- wishing it will magically go away..hoping to sweep it under the rug is - nonsense..We have all seen the footage!-   You might be able to BS a slim few ,, But, Egypt's government cannot BS the rest of the World...

Earlier this week, Paul McCartney, announced, he would be playing a one off, lunchtime gig at The 100 Club in London; before finishing off his incredible Up & Coming tour In Liverpool & London, ending out the year- this coming weekend..Paul, surprised fans with tunes he has never played at gigs ie: Honey Hush & Hitch Hike a Marvin Gaye tune he had played earlier this week at the Apollo theater in New York...

Some of those picked for the setlist below are what you could hear at a McCartney sound check.
( Oh, so intimate ) Paul, played to an intimate crowd of 300 to 350 fans queuing in the freezing snow and rain.. waiting to get in- for those lucky enough to score tix..Paul rarely plays intimate gigs. The last one at Amoeba Records in Hollywood in 2007 where we waited in line for 3 days- than separated by CD stands. So, these gigs are truly special..

He even brushed the hands of some- in the front row- damn!...Dawn & Rick you're lucky to have been there :) Ahh, my friend Danica was there also?!!~ dang-it lol and me a dreadful 7 weeks I've had- and sent home again for being sick.. If I had the money and the time I'd be in Liverpool & London too- sniff- ha!! So, .......how was YOUR lunch?

Oh man- Sheeesh, what is up with Sirius Radio and trying to log onto The Paul McCartney gig\at The Apollo?? I was trying to log in at 6pm and it wouldn't take my log on? WTF? I inputed the correct info. When I logged into Sirius via Firefox last week.. It worked just perfectly fine...So I call Sirius waiting on hold for a long time.. the girl taking my info disconnected me.. So I rang back.. I get the same girl!! I tell her she disconnected me.. she tells me to clear my history and try rebooting.. Are you kidding me? This is taking precious time of a Live Macca Gig!! She places me on hold and I get another person on the fone.. Fuck man!! I log into Sirius again .. It worked fine logging into my account, once again- BUT NOT THE MEDIA PLAYER!!!

Major Fuck up with connections~

A new customer service person comes online " Oh NO, you can't use Firefox use Internet Exployer!!"WTF again?! So it takes forever to launch the browser.. I get on IE back to Sirius Radio webby, log in fine.. I launch the media player and I tell the girl I bet the gig is almost over? I ask if anyone else had called in with troubles logging in for the gig, Yes, she says,we had to help several people log in.. This took a total of one hour~

Sir Paul McCartney is coming home for Christmas to play two special gigs with an "intimate vibe".
The former Beatle announced he is taking his band to London and his home town of Liverpool later this month. He said:

Macca honored with Kennedy Center honor- Grammy's, Sirius Radio ..SNL

It's a HUGE week for Paul McCartney, who was honored for a Kennedy Center Award, last night

in Washington DC. A Grammy nomination for Helter Skelter at Citi Field- Best Solo Rock Performance. ( Yeah, I was there! ) As a musical guest to appear on SNL ( Saturday Night Live ) Dec 11th .

.Also, a first to play the Apollo Theater on Dec 13th to celebrate Sirius Radios 20 million subscribers..whew! how can one keep up?

Right on Paul! we are all so proud and will be watching and listening...

Wow, trying to win tix to see Macca at The Apollo was next to impossible. For 4 days I tried to score the elusive ticket; only to get a busy signal, most of the time. And when I did get through, the phone would ring and ring and the voice at the end would pick up and say " We Got A Winner Try Again Tomorrow" Lucky for those of you subscribers who did win tix to the Apollo - Sirius event.. It should Rawk!~ It will Rawk! Paul McCartney's Band On The Run Radio is amazing. It runs for 1 month during the holidays. Rare tracks, mixes, mega mixes, The Fireman, Wings, Beatles, solo Macca- some of the best tracks I have ever heard.. Paul McCartney is one amazing singer/song writer.. The very best of radio I have ever heard..

Paul, please, play something new- not your 'Ol Stand By's'. Pretty please? Like 'Paperback Writer'- that sounds ooh so yummy live and the guys really kill this one- with it's extended version, rawkin guitars and drums and vocals...just a thought..I can ask right? ha!

Remembering George Harrison

I remember that day when 'Dear George', passed away.. I knew he was ill and prayed like mad, ( OK like hell ) he would make it through someway, somehow.. please God! I prayed. I was lying in bed when I heard the news over the radio of his passing. I was deeply saddened.. I was angry. I was pissed. It's been 9 years now. I remember like it was yesterday..whew.

Georges's memory will never, fade away. I did get a bit misty watching his vids on Youtubde. His music lives on forever. What a beautiful soul.. Such a beautiful person who gave so much and taught us so much through his music. The message in there.. so prolific and funny...Love you George, you are missed deeply.. You'll always live in our hearts~ some vids below- please have a listen...OK, I've just busted out in tears!

what happened here? Hey people something is wrong with my blog design and went wacky in the middle of the night- I'm trying to fix it, not sure I can fix it.. sorry.. Ok I'm stuck, sigh~ this does suck someone's been trying to help fix my template at Blogger help- however, Blogger, needs to fix the template designer..

OK, we're getting somewhere blog is like it was except, for now the text is all squished together...

Oh man YoBoy helped me fix it, the text and the design back-thank you!!~ sheesh now for design editor......another huge thanx to DarkUFO on help with design template..Meanwhile, if you use any other browser apart from Google Chrome there is a problem accessing the design template for bloger.. thanx to Blogger help for help on these two issues.. :) whew a mere 6 measley hours to fix.. back to your regular scheduled blogging :)

Say that Paul McCartney invited you on stage to act a fool to "Get Back?" Say what?! Yep, that's what happened~ Damn, some people have all the luck- :) With a little luck they worked it all out... right on!
