KUALA LUMPUR: Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) berpendirian pihaknya tidak akan menyokong akta keselamatan negarayang baru jika semangat elemen ‘pencegahan’ yang ada dalam Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) tidak dikekalkan.

Presidennya yang juga Ahli Parlimen Pasir Mas, Datuk Ibahim Ali berkata elemen tersebut amat penting dan selama ini terbukti berkesan
dalam menangani isu keselamatan negara.

Mengambil contoh isu ajaran sesat Ayah Pin, Al-Arqam, pemalsuan kad pengenalan dan kad kredit serta kegiatan subversif, Ibrahim berkata
adalah wajar pencegahan melalui penahanan tanpa bicara mengikut ISA dikenakan.

“Kalau ia melalui proses kehakiman, ia akan mengambil masa yang begitu lama hanya untuk menentukan sama ada bersalah atau tidak.

“Mungkin dalam tempoh kehakiman itu keselamatan negara kita terancam. Kita tak mahu ia terjadi baru nak putuskan hukuman.

Kita mahu ia dibendung segera sebelum terjadi apa-apa yang lebih buruk,” katanya selepas mempengerusikan mesyuarat tergempar Perkasa di sini hari ini.

Namun katanya, hak kebebasan seseorang perlu diambil kira seperti kaedah penyiasatan dan tempoh lawatan keluarga semasa dalam tahanan.

Selain itu, beliau turut mengingatkan kerajaan supaya tidak tunduk dengan tuntutan mana-mana pihak untuk mewujudkan akta baru bagi menggantikan ISA.

“Jangan ikutkan pembangkang dan jangan ikutkan kepentingan politik peribadi semata-mata nak menang undi,” katanya sinis.

Hak mutlak rakyat

Sehubungan itu, beliau menggesa agar kerajaan berunding dengan rakyat terlebih dahulu sebelum akta baru tersebut digubal kerana baginya isu keselamatan adalah hak mutlak rakyat.

Beliau juga berkata pihaknya akan berjumpa dengan Menteri Dalam Negeri Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein untuk mengemukakan memorandum dalam masa terdekat meminta maklum balas mengenai prinsip asas akta baru itu.

Sementara itu, beliau juga mahu kerajaan meneliti semula Akta Universiti Kolej Universiti (AUKU) 1974 serta Akta Rahsia Rasmi (OSA) untuk dimansuhkan.

“Apa lagi yang nak ditakutkan dengan AUKU dan OSA jika ISA sudah dimansuhkan,” soalnya sambil menyokong pembaharuan lesen akhbar dalam Akta Mesin Cetak dan Penerbitan dan kebebasan berhimpun dalam Akta Polis dimansuhkan.

Pesuruhjaya PAS Selangor Dr Abd Rani Osman menegaskan tindakan menghalang mana-mana ahli politik dan wakil rakyat daripada menyampaikan kuliah agama di masjid mahupun surau adalah langkah “tidak masuk akal.”

“Menghalang ahli politik ataupun mereka yang dipilih oleh rakyat bercakap dan menyampaikan maklumat tentang agama adalah satu perkara yang tidak masuk akal, malah saya tidak setuju langsung,” katanya.

Dr Rani yang juga ADUN Meru itu berkata, beliau kesal dan tidak berpuas hati kerana tauliahnya untuk mengajar oleh Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Jais) telah ditarik balik.

Khamis lalu, Pengarah Jais Marzuki Hussin dipetik berkata ahli politik tidak lagi diberi tauliah untuk berceramah di semua 2,081 surau dan 380 masjid di seluruh Selangor.

“Mana-mana ahli politik yang mempunyai tauliah sebelum ini tidak boleh memperbaharuinya sebaik ia tamat dan mereka tidak lagi dibenarkan memberikan ceramah di semua surau dan masjid di negeri ini,” kata Marzuki.

Marzuki berkata, larangan terhadap ahli politik itu adalah bagi mematuhi titah perintah Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah melalui surat pekeliling bertarikh 22 Jun lalu.

Menurutnya lagi, Sultan Selangor tidak berkenan untuk memberikan tauliah kepada semua ahli politik untuk berceramah di semua surau dan masjid di seluruh Selangor.

Dr Rani yang dilantik sebagai ketua PAS negeri Jun lalu menambah, pentauliahan diadakan bagi mengelak daripada berlakunya penyebaran ajaran sesat oleh mereka yang tidak dikenali tetapi apa yang berlaku sekarang adalah sebaliknya.

“Kita melihat ramai ahli politik yang mempunyai sijil-sijil agama yang diiktiraf sama ada di dalam mahupun di luar negara dan kebanyakan darinya telah mendapat pengiktirafan dari Arab dan juga Mesir.

“Jadi isu ajaran sesat tidak timbul, malah menghalang mereka-mereka ini dari menyampaikan sesuatu kebaikan adalah bertentangan dengan apa yang Islam kehendaki,” tambah beliau dipetik Harakahdaily hari ini.

Dr Rani memberitahu, sebelum ini pemimpin Umno bebas melakukan apa sahaja termasuk menyampaikan dakwah di surau-surau mahupun masjid.

Katanya, jika dulu pemimpin-pemimpin Umno bebas melakukan apa saja yang mereka mahu termasuk menyampaikan tazkirah di surau mahupun masjid, malah bermacam-macam perkara mereka lakukan.

“Sepanjang itu jugalah kita melihat tidak pernah ada pentaulihan diberikan malah Jais hanya berdiam diri dan yang paling mendukacitakan Jais juga turun sama dalam program yang dianjurkan oleh Umno itu.

“Dulu tak pernah wujud seperti ini tetapi sekarang macam-macam halangan ada. Kita tidak bebas lagi hendak menyampaikan dakwah malah setiap pergerakan kita dipantau,” tambah Dr Rani.

Beliau juga menjelaskan, walaupun tauliahnya telah ditarik balik aktiviti dakwahnya tetap diteruskan.

“Saya akan tetap berdakwah walaupun tidak diberi tauliah oleh Jais, jika sebelum saya menjadi Adun saya bebas melakukan dakwah atas sebab apa saya hendak hentikannya.

“Jika ada pihak mengatakan isi penyampaian dakwah saya ada yang salah sila buktikan kesalahan itu dan setiap tuduhan perlu ada bukti yang kukuh bukannya sekadar cakap kosong,” kata wakil rakyat penggal pertama ini. -tvsnews

AMK Buat Laporan Polis Terhadap Papagomo

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) hari ini membuat satu laporan polis terhadap penulis blog Papa Gomo kerana bertindak menyiarkan satu lagi sedutan klip video fitnah yang menunjukkan Ketua Pembangkang Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim menggunakan lif apartmen lokasi didakwa melanggani pelacur asing.

Timbalan ketua penerangan AMK, Rozan Azen Mat Rasip berkata, laporan itu dibuat pada jam 2.00 tadi di ibu pejabat polis daerah (IPD) Dang Wangi.

Menurut Rozan, pihaknya juga mendesak Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar agar tampil membuat satu kenyataan rasmi bahawa Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) tidak terlibat dalam menyiarkan satu lagi sedutan klip video itu yang jelas merupakan tindakan terdesak Umno-BN terus-terusan untuk menghancurkan karier politik ketua pembangkang itu.

"Kami ingin seberapa segera Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar mengeluarkan kenyataan bahawa beliau tidak tahu menahu tentang dari mana Papa Gomo mendapat rakaman ini, sebab itu kami tampil membuat laporan, agar kes ini disiasat segera kerana ia mengancam ketua pembangkang Malaysia," katanya ketika ditemui di luar perkarangan IPD Dang Wangi, petang tadi.

Semalam, negara sekali lagi dikejutkan dengan pendedahan terbaru keratan video menerusi rakaman CCTV yang menunjukkan Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dan ahli perniagaan Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah di media arus perdana setelah di muat-naik (upload) dalam blog pro-umno, Papa Gomo.

Penulis blog Papa Gomo menyiarkan rakaman bertarikh 13 Januari 2011 yang disebutnya sebagai rakaman "eksklusif", menunjukkan dua lelaki yang didakwa ahli perniagaan Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah dan Anwar, masuk dan keluar lif bangunan Apartmen Ampang, yang dikatakan tempat berlaku aksi seks tersebut.

Menerusi blog tersebut, klip rakaman itu seakan disunting untuk menunjukkan rakaman CCTV itu dengan video seks di Carcosa selari dengan urutan tanda masa peristiwa tersebut.

Bagaimanapun, pendedahan itu menimbulkan keraguan apabila pakaian kedua-dua lelaki dalam CCTV itu, tidak kelihatan sepadan dengan kedua-dua lelaki yang ditunjukkan
dalam video seks berkenaan.

Dalam CCTV itu juga, lelaki yang dikatakan Eskay memakai pakaian yang berwarna gelap, manakala dalam video seks, lelaki yang ditunjukkan, berbaju dan berseluar cerah.

Rakaman CCTV itu sebelumnya disebut dalam fakta kes apabila Eskay dan dua orang lagi anggota trio 'Datuk T' dihadapkan di mahkamah atas tuduhan menyiarkan video lucah itu Jun lalu.

Sementara lelaki yang didakwa mirip Anwar itu pula berseluar gelap dalam rakaman CCTV itu, tetapi seluar dalam video seks itu kelihatan cerah.

Sehubungan itu, Rozan mengambil pendekatan untuk tidak mengulas lanjut berhubung perkara tersebut, namun menjelaskan bahawa rakyat kini sudah bijak menilai kerja-kerja jahat para blogger pro Umno yang secara terbuka mengaibkan Anwar.

"Kami AMK bertindak untuk tidak mahu memberi sebarang penjelasan berhubung isu teknikal, sama ada kesahihan video ini. Isu pakaian sama atau tidak, kerana kami yakin orang ramai bijak untuk menilai sendiri, dan yakin ia adalah usaha blogger seperti Papa Gomo untuk kembali menyerang secara peribadi terhadap Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," jelasnya.

Selain itu, AMK dalam laporan polisnya hari ini turut menuntut Menteri Penerangan, Komunikasi Dan Kebudayaan, Datuk Seri Rais Yatim agar memberi penjelasan segera berhubung perkembangan terkini siasatan laporan kepada Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia (SKMM) terhadap beberapa pihak yang didakwa terlibat menyebarkan satu video seks di Internet, pada 5 April lalu.

Video seks berkenaan dipercayai merupakan sedutan daripada video lucah yang ditunjukkan kepada sekumpulan wartawan dan individu berkepentingan sejak 21 Mac lalu.

Laporan itu antara lainnya menamakan laman papagomo.com, pisau.net dan juga gerakanantipkr.blogspot.com sebagai pihak yang perlu disiasat berhubung penyebaran video berkenaan. -tvsnews

Church sex-abuse victims urge ICC prosecution

An international group for victims of sexual abuse by Catholic priests has asked the International Criminal Court to prosecute Pope Benedict XVI and three other senior Vatican officials for crimes against humanity.

The Chicago-based Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) said on Tuesday it had filed the complaint with the ICC with help from lawyers from the non-profit US Centre for Constitutional Rights (CCR).

They called on the court "take action and prosecute the Pope and three other high-ranking Vatican officials for their direct and superior responsibility for the crimes against humanity of rape and other sexual violence committed around the world".

The Catholic Church has been rocked by a series of sexual-abuse scandals and allegations of cover-up in Europe and the US in recent years. But this is the first time the sexual-abuse scandal has been brought to an international jurisdiction, marking a new approach by victims and rights groups.

The three other Vatican officials the group is asking that they be investigated are Tarcisio Bertone, the cardinal secretary of state; Angelo Sodano, his predecessor; and William Levada, a US cardinal.

Levada is head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, the Vatican office designated to investigate sex abuse cases forwarded to it by bishops.

Federico Lombardi, Levada's spokesperson, refused to comment.

'Direct cover-up'

Pam Spees, a CCR lawyer, said in a statement that "the Vatican officials charged in this case are responsible for rape and other sexual violence and for the physical and psychological torture of victims around the world both through command responsibility and through direct cover-up of crimes.

"They should be brought to trial like any other officials guilty of crimes against humanity".

SNAP said it had submitted more than 20,000 pages of supporting material, but some international law experts have suggested the case might not go very far.

"Firstly, a prerequisite for crimes against humanity is that it has to be perpetrated by a State, or 'state-like' organisation," Herman van der Wilt, a professor of international law at Amsterdam University, told the AFP news agency.

"And secondly, ... the ICC would not be able to investigate any crimes committed before July 1, 2002, when its mandate commenced according to its founding statute."

The ICC prosecutor has received nearly 9,000 independent proposals for inquiries since 2002, when the court was created as the world's only permanent war crimes tribunal, and has never opened a formal investigation based solely on such a request.

The ICC prosecutor's office said the evidence would be studied.

"We first have to analyse whether the alleged crimes fall under the court's jurisdiction,'' it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, attorneys for the Survivors Network argued that no other national entity exists that will prosecute high-level Vatican officials who failed to protect children.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, David Clohessy, the director of SNAP, says that there are "only a handful of bishops who have been disciplined or demoted or even denounced by the Vatican officials for hiding child sex crimes, only a handful out of 5,000 across the globe.

"Church officials take no meaningful steps. There are a lot of words, a lot of promises and a lot of policies on paper. But on a day-to-day basis, each bishop continues to act as the old of his own kingdom and protect priests and shuffle priests and do the absolute bare minimum he possible can to keep this under wraps.

We have somewhat reluctantly come to the conclusion that it really will take secular officials on a global level to try to prevent this kind of violence on a widespread continuing basis."

Rising anger

Megan Peterson, a 21-year-old SNAP member who spoke publicly of her abuse for the first time last week, was among those backing the initiative.

Describing her ordeal, she recalled: "When at age 15, I called the diocese to report the rapes they hung up on me."

She called on the ICC to "take this case seriously and do the right thing".

"I don't want any more kids to go through what I went through," she said.

The Roman Catholic Church is struggling to deal with rising anger and a string of lawsuits after thousands of child abuse claims in Europe and the US.

The latest major crisis came in July, when Enda Kenny, the Irish prime minister, launched a ferocious attack on the Roman Catholic Church's "absolutely disgraceful" failure to deal with years of sexual abuse of children by priests.

Benedict has expressed shame and sorrow over the clerical sex scandal and has called on bishops around the world to come up with common guidelines against paedophiles by May 2012.

But the issue shows no sign of going away.

Nick Xenophon, an Australian senator, named on Tuesday a Catholic priest who allegedly raped a teenage boy in assaults dating back about 50 years, after the church refused his demand that they withdraw him from his post.

M’sia Day marred by whiff of graft, clamour for secession

Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud has been shaken by the recent announcement of a probe by the German government into his financial deals with Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest bank.

Three European environmentalist and human rights NGOs hadtriggered the investigation by writing to Chancellor Angela Merkel, urging her to freeze the Taib family’s assets in Germany.

The NGOs – the Bruno Manser Fund, Society for Threatened Peoples and Rainforest Rescue – alleged Deutsche Bank provides a respectable front for company assets owned by Taib and his family in North America.

“Deutsche Bank International’s Jersey and Cayman branches are administering the Jersey-based Sogo Holdings Ltd, through which several illicit Taib family assets in the US are held,” the NGOs claimed in a joint statement. “In Malaysia, Deutsche Bank is running joint ventures with Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS), the Taib family’s business flagship, under the names of K&N Kenanga Holdings and Kenanga Deutsche Futures.”

Deutsche Bank has offices in Kuala Lumpur and Labuan. The bank has been seeking to expand its private banking network to rope in ever wealthier multimillionaires such as Taib. This is despite the bank struggling with a US government lawsuit accusing it of having misled investors, and with a British Serious Fraud Office investigation into its alleged misrepresentation of asset-backed securities.

Taib, Premier Najib Razak and Deutsche Bank have not commented on the German government’s investigation into alleged money-laundering: it appearsTaib and Najib continue to hope that the German and Swiss financial regulators’ attentions will simply blow over.

Taib postpones Baram dam

At home, Taib has also been stirred by local protests into suspending plans to build the ambitious Baram dam. Kayan, Kenyah and Penan locals angrily opposed his plans for forced resettlement of some 20,000 natives for the construction of the dam.

Taib’s spokesperson, and second minister at Taib’s omnipotent natural resources and planning ministry, Awang Tengah Hassan (right), announced last Friday that the government would first build the Baleh hydroelectric power (HEP) dam, upstream from the notorious Bakun dam in central Sarawak, before taking on the Baram dam.

“The beauty (sic) of the Baleh HEP is that it would not affect the livelihood of many people, making it easier to implement as very little resettlement would be involved,” he gushed, according to a local daily.

Awang Tengah conceded that building the Baram dam would require extra social studies, in apparent reference to the lack of any meaningful social impact assessment (SIA) or environmental impact assessment (EIA) on the Baram dam.

The EIA and SIA, required by law for each of the twelve mammoth HEP dams planned by Taib’s administration, are all jealously guarded secrets. Local environmentalists say these studies were conducted over two decades ago, and were simply airbrushed to provide impetus to these ‘mega projects’.

The Baram dam was destined to be another windfall for loggers granted access to the vacated native lands, and construction companies awarded contracts for the dam. CMS, and other companies owned by members of Taib’s family, have already prospered from past dam contracts.

But Taib must have been unnerved by an open revolt, including scathing condemnation by grassroots NGOs such as the Orang Ulu National Association, Borneo Resources Institute Malaysia, Baram People’s Protection Committee, Sahabat Alam Malaysia, Sarawak Indigenous Lawyers’ Alliance, Sarawak Native Customary Land Rights Network (TAHABAS) and the pan-Malaysian Natives’ Network (Jaringan Orang AsalSeMalaysia).

The natives’ protests were even covered in the supine local press.

Sarawakian NGO activists say the deferment of the Baram dam has more to do with the proximity of the upcoming 13th parliamentary election, than with any official concern over social impact niceties.

Taib needs the rural vote to deliver as many seats as possible for Barisan Nasional (BN) from the 31 being contested, in order for BN to continue to allow him a free hand in his personal fiefdom of Sarawak – a demand he is confident of satisfying.

Demands for Sarawakian independence

Malaysia Day on Sept 16 this year will, as is the case every year, see a resurgence of calls for Sarawak’s secession from the Malaysian federation. The facelessness of the Internet has encouraged growing numbers of political commentators to express their frustration with the lopsided socio-economic disparities between Sarawak and the peninsula.

These demands for Sarawakian independence have traditionally been considered a seditious offence. The secessionist sentiment certainly strikes a chord in the hearts of many Sarawakians, though they hesitate to express it openly.

Yet the fact remains that few, if any, Sarawakians would have the stomach to take up arms for this secessionist sentiment. Since the primary urge of any nation is to conserve and expand its territory, any open secession movement would inevitably be met with armed force.

Over the past four decades, local Sarawakian BN strongmen Abdul Rahman Ya’kub and his nephew Taib have been heavily reliant on federal force and logistical support to remain in power.

Abdul Rahman (right), Taib’s predecessor, was installed as Sarawak’s third chief minister in 1970 by Abdul Razak Hussein, Malaysia’s second prime minister. Razak had earlier removed the popular, but eventually outmanoeuvred, Stephen Kalong Ningkan, Sarawak’s first chief minister, in 1966, replacing him briefly with a seat-warmer, Tawi Sli.

Local political blog Hornbill Unleashedoutlined the history of those frantic days of musical chairs in Sarawak’s top office in 1966.

“The Supreme Court declared Ningkan’s dismissal unconstitutional. Acting PM Razak rushed to Kuching and tried to arrange a quick no-confidence vote. Ningkan managed to block that, so Razak declared a state of emergency. My, how easy. Then Razak changed the federal constitution, and sacked Ningkan for good. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Can modern day secessionists still believe Sarawakian (or Sabahan) independence can be achieved? An effective and clean local state leadership, elusive until now, is an obvious prerequisite, but clearly lacking among the inept BN leaders groomed by Taib.

Perhaps the younger leaders from the state opposition DAP and PKR can persuade urban voters to give them a chance, now that Pakatan have promised Sarawakians 20 percent petroleum royalties, instead of the current measly 5 percent, and greater political autonomy.

Economic benefits aside, a genuine two-coalition democracy at federal level would certainly provide greater political openness. This would then offer opportunities to improve the competitiveness and quality of local leadership, and reverse some of BN’s propaganda and political brainwashing of rural Sarawakians, aimed at keeping them subservient to BN.

Taib’s era is coming to an end, after more than 30 years at the helm. His sons are ill equipped to continue the mini-dynasty established by Taib and his uncle Abdul Rahman. There is no love, nor respect, lost between Taib and Najib, since they appear to consider each other a liability.

Taib faces growing pressure from local opponents because of his boundless appetite for land acquisition, and now he faces corruption investigations in Europe.

But in the run-up to this Malaysia Day in 2011, it is still far from certain whether Sarawakians will be able to grasp this opportunity of a weakened Taib, to make a fresh start, and seek a kingmaker’s influence in a two-coalition federal system – or remain on the margins.

PETALING JAYA: The faith and moral values of the Malays here will erode if the “kaum biaDAP” comes into power, said Barisan Nasional-friendly independent MP Zulkifli Noordin.

The Kulim Bandar Baharu MP, in his blog, made scathing remarks against a man whom he claimed had insulted Islam.

The individual, whom Zulkifli described as “cursed” (laknatullah), was allegedly a Singaporean who posted comments insulting Prophet Muhammad on his Facebook page.

“There are no more boundaries to the accursed people… according to the records, the barua (bastard) who wrote those things lives in Singapore… maybe this is the work and teaching of (former Singapore prime minister) Caliph Lee Kuan Yew,” said the ex-PKR MP.

Linking the Singaporean Chinese leader’s influence to the Chinese-majority opposition party DAP, Zulkifli said:

“Probably, this is what will happen to our Malay children if the biaDAP (rude) party of (Penang chief minister and DAP secretary-general Lim) Guan Eng who is worshiped by the Anwarinas (Anwar Ibrahim’s supporters) was to rule this country.”

“With the current serious crisis of the (Islamic) faith, all of these new clowns are willing to share the usage of the term Allah with the Christians, and still do not know how to be united with each other in Islam. They still worship the traitors of Islam and ‘menjilat’ (kowtow) to the kaum biaDAP,” he added.

He also took a swipe at Islamic party PAS, whom he termed as “pak lebai” (pious person), for defending a “kaki liwat” (sodomite), “kaki zina” (adulterer), “kaki pembohong” (liar), “kaki penipu”, “kaki putar” (spin doctor), “kaki komunis” (communist) and “kaki sondol”, in an obvious reference to Anwar.

Zulkifli had been a harsh critic of PKR and Anwar, especially after he was sacked from PKR last year and turned Independent MP. The long-term Anwar follower accused his former party of not doing enough to protect Islam.

Remarks ‘uncalled for’
In an immediate reaction, DAP strategist Liew Chin Tong said his party condemned the “uncalled for” and “nonsensical” remarks by Zulkifli.

“What we want is reasonable discussions and debates about policies and the future of the country, and not such remarks which appeal to emotion without any basis,” said the Bukit Bendara MP.

Liew said Zulkifli’s argument took a “leap of logic” and he would not give it attention.

“This is part of his campaign against Pakatan Rakyat, from the day he left. And it is part of the bigger picture where in 2005 (then Umno Youth chief) Hishammuddin (Hussein) raised the keris as part of Umno’s attempt to win support and consolidate the Malay population,” he added.

The DAP leader said Umno was doing this at the expense of BN component parties and non-Malays in the country.

“These efforts are unlikely to bear fruit, because they are still struggling. Umno is not getting more than 60% of Malay support, that is their challenge at the moment. Many Malays have seenthrough Umno and its problems. They, like all Malaysians, also want a society which does not favour cronies,” he added.

Explaining how illogical Zulkifli’s argument was, Liew said that DAP ceased all relationships with the Singaporean People’s Action Party after the departure of DAP founder Devan Nair in 1967.

“Since then DAP has nothing to do with Singapore. But more importantly, what he said has no basis. We (Pakatan) are for a country which puts across the right values of governance, we want a government that is clean and elections to be fair…” he said.

“Zulkifli is part of this so called one-upmanship publicity blitz… what needs to happen is sensible people from both sides need to lead and provide alternative leadership,” he added.

Liew said it was unlikely that people would buy Zulkifli’s logic.

“I think Umno has even ignored the fact that rural people also have children in cities. To assume that rural folk are predominantly Umno supporters and willing to buy all this nonsense is just wrong,” he added.

Contacted for comment, PAS’ Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad could only laugh. “Hahaha. My God!”

“This guy does a great disservice to Islam while he reckons he is ‘championing’ the Islamic cause,” he added.

He said Zulkifli’s overzealous nature drives him into religious bigotry, prompting him to always portray Islam as being under siege.

“This enables him to justify his combative and confrontational default mode. Deplorable! It makes a mockery of Islam,” he said.

We have been indoctrinated by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes that competition is healthy and good for the travelers. Are we witnessing the real Tan Sri Tony Fernandes now?
Perhaps we can now see a bit clearer whether MAS needed AirAsia to survive as made out to be the case in a news portal and mainstream media or the other way around.
I have been informed that during the Hari Raya season several full load flights of Firefly have been cancelled at the eleventh hours. The cancellations have caused enormous inconveniences to members of the public, who were on their balik kampung back to see their families. Why cancel full load flights during a festive season? Where is the business sense of MAS current management? Even if you want to help your close friend like Tan Sri Tony Fernandes/AirAsia, please don’t do it at the expense of the public.
This is not the way to kill Firefly, indirectly MAS. Surely with all your top financial qualifications and famous credentials under BinaFikir you should know of better ways to skin a cow! Why are you in such a rush to kill Firefly in such a desperate manner? I am sure that Datuk Omar Ong will advise you against such ill thought out decisions.

The above is the email sent out by MAS HQ to its agents on 25th August, 2011. The work of the powerful unseen hands. This must be part of the game plans of the so-called “MAS – AirAsia share swap”, which was shrouded in secrecy.
After the signing ceremony of the said share swap between Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes on 8-8-2011, it was immediately announced that Firefly will soon change its business model. Presumably, what the economic genius in Khazanah and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes meant was Firefly will stop competing with other low cost airlines, in particular AirAsia.
Instead of chasing after huge debts owed by Alwafeer Air, which involved non-payment of leasing rentals for three jumbo jets amounting to ten of millions of ringgit, En Mohamed Rashdan Yusof, the Khazanah’s representative in MAS management was more interested in how to disrupt and/or stifle Firefly for the benefit of the competitor of MAS. Guess who?
If the stopping of Firefly’s profitable routes to East Malaysia was part of the said secret share swap exercise by YB Nor Mohamad Yacop, the former Minister of Finance II under Tun Abdullah’s administration now Minister in charge of EPU, Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar and En Mohamed Rashdan Yusof, both of whom are former business partners in BinaFikir Sdn Bhd, then Firefly is as good as dead! The future of MAS is not hard to determine.
The time has come for the rakyat, bloggers and, most of all, the MAS Union to join hands to stop the rot.

In my previous writing, I’ve already explained the financial benefit and how AA can use MAS as a scapegoat in burdening them with debts and abusing the advantage of MAS capabilities. What slips my mind was the fate of Firefly.
MAS set up Firefly with the intention to compete with AA despite MAS' hands being tied by the government as Ministry of Transport favors AA much more. It is said that the Ministry of Transport has a few bucks going in their pocket from AA. When I said “few bucks going in their pocket from AA”, I don’t mean AA is donating the money directly to the “Ministry of Transport” itself. It is more directly to those high ranking in the ministry
that benefited from it.
AA will skin and poison Firefly and MAS slowly. They already managed to be in MAS so now they have the opportunity to shut down Firefly. But why shut down Firefly and create a new airline such as Sapphire Airline?
Here are a couple of reasons; Firefly is seen as a direct competitor to AA's business locally and internationally. Firefly has already made good ground in giving AA a run for their money as it offers better service, competitive prices and departure convenience. This has been noted a few years back by AA and they needed to do something about it after all, there are more benefits to AA with the closure of Firefly.
Recently, it was announced that Tony had just bought over the Queen Park Ranger football team. I have no issues with his passion for football but when you start sponsoring your own football team with the money from MAS, it becomes totally wrong. First of all, MAS reported a loss recently and AA made profits. So how could a losing company pay for the sponsorship?
The reason MAS and AA decided to sponsor QPR was for better market exposure. Hmm, why sponsor a football club? How much is the sponsorship? Which target market do they target? What is the ROI from the sponsorship?
With the sponsorship of QPR happening without a glitch and without consultation from Khazanah, what will stop AA from sponsoring their F1 racing team? MAS will be again used to pay for Tony’s hobby and the saddest part of it is no one will stop him because he has “political’ strings.
I cannot emphasise how dangerous this man is to MAS. His cunning business ways are only suitable for him and not for others. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing!
The fates of 15,000 MAS staff too, hang in danger with the opening of Sapphire Air. The union cannot do anything without help from the government. Why is it the government willing to lose 15,000 votes in this coming election? These 15,000 vote can quadruple as they have family and friends that will listen to them!
When Sapphire Air emerges, no one can stop AA from permanently destroying MAS! The union will be helpless. I can give you the scenario how AA will systematically kill off MAS:
1. Sapphire Air is born. They will offer the current MAS staff to “migrate” with lower pay and lesser benefits.
2. If Sapphire Air does not have enough staff, this will be better for AA as they can now hire cheaper labour thus cut their operational costs.
3. Those who choose to stay can stay, but sooner or later, MAS downsizing will take effect, which means the company will offer VSS.
4. Khazanah will use the rakyat’s money to pay MAS staff “Voluntary Separation Scheme”. Why Khazanah? Well, Khazanah is still the majority shareholder and with money. AA is just the biggest individual shareholder but they don’t have money.
5. Those who decide to take the VSS can retire, start their own business or have enough money to last them for a few months while searching for a new job with lower pay. When this happens, whatever their current commitment, eg. house loan repayment etc will be jeorpadized!
6. Once they have fully transferred all the local routes to Sapphire Air, where can MAS or Firefly go?

So my question is … what can the current MAS union do to stop this? We are talking about people’s lives and it seems the government doesn’t care.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, please open your eyes and heart regarding this matter. It is a matter of the rakyats' welfare and pride of Malaysia. We can turn MAS around if given a fair chance. Given a free hand to do business as it is supposed to be, without hands being tied behind our backs by Khazanah!
I dare say that BN will lose terribly should you allow this annihilation of MAS by AA!

NAJIB AND HIS UNPREDICTABILITY CORRUPT ARITHMETIC OF THE UMNO AND MAHATIR’S CRONIES

A leaked diplomatic note from the US embassy in Malaysia to Washington has asserted that Anwar Ibrahim has in his possession evidence linking Prime Minister Najib Razak to the Altantuya murder, as well as kickbacks received from the purchase of Scorpene submarines in 2002 and Sukhoi jet-fighters in 2003.

According to the cable available on WikiLeaks, the Malaysian Opposition Leader was convinced that it was Najib’s aide-camp who had ordered two of the PM’s former body guards to kill Altanutya Shaariibuu. The Mongolian translator, who allegedly helped in the Scorpenes deal, was murdered in Malaysia in 2006 and Anwar also said she had been lovers with both Najib and his close friend Razak Baginda.

The cable from the American embassy also points to the corruption and rot already existing in the Abdullah Badawi administration and eventually hallmarking the tenure of Prime Minister Najib Razak. The abuse of power has not diminished but grown stronger as Najib fights to stay in power, entrenching itself even further into all arms of the government machinery, the civil service and the judiciary.

And this perhaps explains the Pandora Box of events currently being played out as Malaysia heads towards its 13th General Election, widely expected to be called later this year or early next year.

An excerpt from the cable dated January 24, 2007, said:

“Anwar asserted that DPM Najib’s aide-de-camp ordered the killing of Altantuya and that Anwar possessed firm evidence of the 2003 Sukhoi kick-back scheme.

Anwar claimed that Najib had been romantically involved with the Mongolian woman prior to her relationship with Abdul Razak Baginda (Najib’s confidante accused of abetting the woman’s murder), and implied that Altantuya had intended to incriminate Najib as well as Razak Baginda. Leaning forward and in a hushed voice, Anwar asserted that he had firm information that Najib’s aide-de-camp ordered the two members of Najib’s security detail (who are charged with murder) to kill Altantuya.”

Former Deputy Prime Minister and opposition politician Anwar Ibrahim told polchief during their January 18 meeting at Anwar’s Damansara home that high-level corruption had reached dangerous levels and had damaged the nation’s integrity.

Anwar raised as examples the alleged cover-up in the Altantuya murder case and kick-backs paid to fronts for DPM Najib Tun Razak for the procurement of French submarines and the 2003 purchase of Sukhoi aircraft. He felt emboldened to raise these matters in recent press conferences (picked up mainly by internet news services) because he possessed solid information, including documentary evidence in the case of the Sukhoi deal. Much of the information about the latter cases came directly from senior officials who met with Anwar, including the Director General of at least one ministry and a senior officer at the Central Bank.”

Sleepless nights for Najib

So, did Anwar know too much? Note that he had spoken to the US officials in 2007 and the concerted attacks against him began in 2008, allegedly spearheaded by Najib himself.

Is Anwar too great a threat to the political survival of UMNO, the largest party and in control of the country for the past 5 decades? Was it time to bring Anwar down again, especially after the 2008 election where he had led the opposition to unprecedented gains and almost succeeded in brokering a September 16 switch in federal power from the UMNO-led BN to the Pakatan?

No doubt the calls to constrain Anwar must have hit the roof in UMNO, where he was once their best-loved leader until his jailing and sacking on trumped-up sodomy charges by ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad in 1998.

In 2008, Najib – still a deputy prime minister – needed no encouragement to cook up a second round of sodomy charges to stymie his arch rival for the affections of the Malay community. Not only did Najib needed to consolidate his grip on PM’s chair, but giving him sleepless nights must have been the enormous worry that Anwar would expose his secrets to the world at large, leaving him with nothing but disgrace, failure and perhaps even jail time.

‘Fronts’

The US cable also supports the 2008 statutory declaration made by private investigator P Balasubramaniam, who has since spoken to the French investigators now finalising the Scorpenes probe into whether shipmaker DCN had bribed top Malaysian officials including Najib to seal the deal. Bala had revealed that it was Baginda who told him that Altantuya had been Najib’s lover before she was ‘passed’ onto Baginda.

Two bodyguards, who have since been sentenced to hang for Altantuya’s death, have also separately confirmed to the police that they were asked by Najib’s aide-de-camp to help Baginda. They told the court that Baginda had hired them to stop Altantuya from harassing him and his family. Altantuya herself in a letter admitted she was blackmailing Baginda. It has been reported that her share of the Scorpenes commission allegedly received by Baginda on Najib’s behalf amounted to US$500,000.

Baginda is no idiot. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in politics and government from London’s City Polytechnic and gained a master’s degree in War Studies at King’s College, London. Initially charged with abetting Altantuya’s murder, he miraculously escaped prosecution, while the aide-de-camp was never even brought to court. It is little wonder that the Malaysian judiciary is suffering its worst crisis of confidence under the Najib administration.

Interestingly, it was also Baginda who told US officials of a plan to “nuke” Anwar in the late 1990s until he could no longer stand up politically. Coming from a long-time confidante Najib’s, the comments underscored Najib’s willingness to betray Anwar, even though they already had a political pact wherein he would be Deputy PM to Anwar’s PM should they succeed in ousting Mahathir in the UMNO elections.

Baginda, whi joined the Malaysian Armed Forces Defense College as a lecturer and was eventually promoted to head of strategic studies, later formed a think-tank called the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre. He also acted as Najib’s negotiator in the Scorpenes deal. Finally in 2002, amid huge public opposition due to the exorbitant price tag and unsuitability of the ships for patrolling Malaysia’s shallow coastline, the RM7 billion submarines deal was hammered through by Najib, who was then the Defense minister. Will Baginda also be the link or the “fronts”as the US cable put it, in the Sukhoi deal?

Duellists: Whose shot will hit the mark

September seems to be a month of awkward confluence for Najib. All ill-factors as far as he is concerned seem to be converging, such as the Scorpenes open court hearing, the summons to take the stand as a witness in Anwar’s sodomy trial, the global release of the latest and last batch of WikiLeaks that is bound to uncover even more shocking stories of his wheeling and dealing during his defense days.

To pre-empt the shit from hitting the fan, the UMNO-owned Utusan newspaper has carried a story insisting that Najib’s enemies were paying WikiLeaks in order to publish “slanderous” information about him.

“This is an example of slander that is deliberately created and then published onto websites such as WikiLeaks with the intention to influence the citizens. It is slander without any proof at all,” Ng Lum Yong, a former PKR member turned BN supporter, was quoted as saying in Utusan’s Friday edition.

Meanwhile, like duellists of olden days, Anwar and Najib continue their walk towards each other, waiting for the right moment to lift their guns and fire the final shot. Who will hit target or will both be taken down?

Given that Najib is the sitting PM, it is a given that he will imprison Anwar if his UMNO-BN wins GE-13. Sometimes, knowing too much can disadvantage a person, especially in a country like Malaysia, which is still much more an authoritarian state than a democracy where law and order and civil behaviour reign supreme.

But should Anwar’s bullet find its mark, whether Pakatan loses or wins GE-13, Najib can be sure that he will have to say goodbye not only to his PM’s chair but also the UMNO presidency.

In line to gain the most is Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. And the transformation of power structure in Malaysia is already happening.

Now that the debt drama is over for the moment, we can all safely retreat into what was once called the “dog days of summer” and chill out if the volatile weather allows us to. We can think back to that old song, “Summer time and the living is easy” even as we all know that for millions “the living” is anything but.

The House and Senate have become ghost-like chambers because all its members, so filled with strident indignation and inflexible talking points just a week ago, are now off on their paid vacations hyping their political war stories to their grandchildren.

Imbued with a sense of triumph, the Tea Party is huddling to come up with ongoing tactics to hold the system hostage while the party leaders plan the new “Super committee” with 12 chosen acolytes (how Biblical, that number 12!) to map the next round of fiscal blood-lettering.

All the superhero buzz in the movies and cartoons has no doubt influenced their choice of words and the pretence of the super wisdom of a few as a “Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction” is empanelled to become the next arena of combat with a chosen elite now dominating a factious process where an organised minority can outflank a slow moving majority.
So much for democracy

The lobbyists are already gearing up for the next battles, as the New York Times reported, “to figure out how to influence the panel to protect the programs and tax breaks from which they benefit”. The military contractors and health care industry operatives are digging in to defend their turf.

Meanwhile, the deal did not settle any problems and may have made them worse. The Hill newspaper reports, “The Dow Jones Industrial Average has lost more points in the last two weeks than it did after the House initially failed to approve a bailout of US banks at the height of the financial crisis in 2008″.

At the White House, the campaigning is set to go into overdrive with a bus tour of the devastated Midwest. Obama is saddling up to talk up the one need he has been downplaying for years – the need for jobs.

He is retooling as a born-again populist to champion the unemployed who may never find jobs again.

He is doing so in the face of new statistics that report the economy is in worse shape than it was before the recession.

Some 47 million Americans now qualify for food stamps, up 13 per cent from a year earlier. Unemployment is not budging and more and more job seekers are giving up after finding that if they have been out of work for more than six months, they can’t even get interviews for what jobs there are. Youth and minority unemployment are at depression levels. The ranks of the poor rise as those still working are squeezed as never before.

And housing? Eftnews.com reports, “Dragged down by such anchors as a bulging pipeline of foreclosures and a dearth of buyers, it will be many more months – if not years – before a housing market rebound takes hold”.

Yet the Commander-in-Chief, unlike the people who live in the region, won’t have problems with the cost of gassing up the bus. His “bundlers” are already at work shaking the money tree.

Money News reports: “A just-released study by the Centre for Responsive Politics shows that President Obama is relying more on Wall Street to fund his re-election this year than he did in 2008, according to CNBC, which obtained an advance copy of the report.

“Obama and the DNC combined are on pace to far exceed the amounts Obama raised from Wall Street donors in 2008, both in raw dollar amounts and as a percentage of what he raises overall.”

This may be why he has already thrown his progressive supporters in the words of one dissenting Democrat “under the bus” because he and his handlers calculate they may not like him now but they will vote for him in the end, or fear more gains by the far right.

Some on the right are reportedly going after the “bundlers” who broke fund-raising records in the Bush campaign, in essence talking far right while cultivating the old money centrists.

The “experts” predict that even in this time of economic decline, the political pumps will be well primed as the election draws closer and gains steam by sucking the media oxygen out of other stories with a press corpse that loves to cover politics like sporting events rich in polls and conflicting sound bites.

The newspapers are filled with stories about the nouveau rich gobbling up luxury goods and high priced cars.

Not everyone is hurting

Yet an increasing number of these people on all sides are reporting more dissatisfaction with all the politicians.

The National Journal reports on a new poll, “The survey … revealed a deep lack of faith among the public in Congress’ ability to get things done. When it comes to important problems facing the country, only seven per cent of respondents said they have a lot of confidence that Washington could make progress over the next year and 23 per cent said they have ‘no confidence at all’.”

Some liberals may finally be recognising that their immersion in partisan politics took their eyes off the economic ball with little or no grassroots organising. It seems clear that as the Tea Party pushed politicians from the right, there was no counterweight or unified effort on the left.

President Obama not only betrayed the activists of the left who championed his candidacy in 2008 but, also, his own legacy as a community organiser. He created, but then de-emphasised his “Organising for America” initiative to activate his base for traditional inside the beltway horse-trading.

He gave up on the “outside game” and let the right pick it up without a fight.

Now we are hearing about all kinds of plans by organisations like MoveOn - that became more of a money raising machine than a political movement - who are joining hands with fired Obama appointee Van Jones to build a ‘save the dream movement’ and express some visible support for the unemployed and millions losing homes and hope.

Former Vice President Al Gore is calling for a non-violent “American Spring” modelled on events in Tunisia and Egypt.

Keith Olbermann, the TV Anchor who left NBC to join Gore’s network Current cautions that “first the public has to get mad”.

Personally, I think the public is mad, but also depressed by the lack of leadership and a sense they can win. Popular calls to hold Wall Street accountable have gone nowhere as Wall Street money keeps politicians in tow and activists tweet each other into distraction. Activists rail at the president online but do little to get in his face and demand another course of action.

This may change in the fall but I am not holding my breath. It is easier, as we say, “to talk a good game” than play one

It never rains but it pours and it is pouring buckets now for Prime Minister Najib Razak. In comments that clearly showed he was distancing himself from his protege, ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad agreed with the findings of a recent survey showing Najib’s approval rating had plunged 6 percentage points to 59% from 65% three months ago in June.

Mahathir’s reaction is significant and ominous, given that many other UMNO and BN leaders have either disputed or dismissed the Merdeka Centre poll. Although 85 now, Mahathir is still ‘the‘ power broker to watch in UMNO, the country largest political party that has imposed its brand of authoritarian rule in Malaysia for the past 5 decades.

But the wily Mahathir was not ready yet to show a full hand. He was careful to blame Najib’s decline in popularity to the way the 58-year-old PM had mishandled the July 9 Bersih rally, in which Najib had sanctioned a Home Ministry ban on the movement for free and fair elections, even allowing the police to arrest anyone who wore yellow – the Bersih colour.

“This has been blamed on Datuk Seri Najib but I do not know what Datuk Seri Najib did by ordering that people could not wear yellow shirts. I do not think he would tell the police not to allow yellow shirts. But the fact is that those who wore yellow shirts were seen as enemies. This is a move by the Malaysian government and that gave a bad image to the government,” Malaysian Insider reported Mahathir as saying on Friday.

Blaming Bersih for a reason

But while acknowledging the bid to suppress Bersih triggered Najib’s downfall, Mahathir continued to blame the movement for trying to discredit the UMNO-led BN federal government.

This was the same disastrous tack taken by Najib, and it was this decision to adopt ham-fisted action unseen in decades that prompted nationwide as well as global disgust for his administration and leadership.

At the height of the Bersih persecutions, some observers had said Najib might have felt egged on to show he could play hard ball as well as Mahathir could. The older man had ruled Malaysia with a fist of iron for 22 years and during that time, he did not hestitate to install temporary emergency rule or to launch excessive crackdowns to jail political rivals.

“I feel that Bersih succeeded in achieving its mission to discredit the government’s image. They knew that if they did a demonstration, the government would place teams to prevent it. Because of this, the government’s image is affected because of its actions such as banning people from wearing yellow shirts and so on,” said Mahathir.

Machiavellian Mahathir

While acknowledging his influence in UMNO, Pakatan Rakyat leaders said Mahathir was an icon of the past and his views carried little weight with the Malaysian public in general. They disagreed with his criticism of Bersih and believed he would have taken the same hardline stance as Najib had if he were in power because that was his style.

“Mahathir can say whatever he wants now. Bersih is already over, and Najib has to take the blame and he deserves to. What we saw were seasoned players like Muhyiddin Yassin and Mahathir saying that Bersih was up to no good. They kept encouraging Najib and Hisham to be stern and the two cousins went overboard in their response. Did anyone in the UMNO elite even once advised Najib to stop, and don’t overreact?” PKR vice president Tian Chua toldMalaysia Chronicle.

“Now the Machiavellian Mahathir is saying, yes the slump in approval is Najib’s own fault but Bersih is still dirty and deserves to remain outlawed. In other words, there is no need for electoral reform. To me, that is conflicting and it is a signal to UMNO that he agrees that Najib should make way for Muhyiddin, but no way are we going to be allowed to clean up the voter system.”

Change of guard in UMNO inevitable

The 64-year Muhyiddin, who is Deputy Prime Minister and Education minister, is now in London for a 4-day official visit. A career politician from Johor, his low-profile style has not exactly taken Malaysians by storm. Neither has he captured their imagination. But Najib did not either.

Given the huge scandals dogging Najib and wife Rosmah Mansor, few Malaysians or UMNO members would be sorry to see the back of the extravagant couple, although they don’t expect much leadership or reforms from Muhyiddin either.

“Muhyiddin won’t be a breath of fresh air. But within UMNO, he is seen as the steadier option rather than Najib who has put his own interests first. There is also the question of Rosmah adding to his unpopularity,” Eddie Lee, a PKR veteran, told Malaysia Chronicle.

“For Malaysians, if UMNO wins GE-13, they already know there won’t be any changes coming from any UMNO in any case. So it doesn’t matter it is Muhyiddin. At least, there is less damage to the country’s international image and all the wild spending will be reduced. Most people also guess that Muhyiddin will be PM for one term only if UMNO win the GE, that is.”

KUALA LUMPUR: Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak meneruskan amalan kronisme dan nepotisme di bawah pentadbirannya dalam isu pengambilalihan kepentingan ExxonMobil Corporation di Malaysia kepada San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

Perkara itu dinyatakan Ahli Parlimen Indera Mahkota, Azan Ismail ketika diminta mengulas isu pengambilalihan tersebut.

Beliau merujuk kenyataan jurucakap yang terlibat dalam urusniaga itu bahawa kepentingan ExxonMobil kepada Bousted Holdings Bhd tidak akan menjadi kenyataan, kerana transaksi antara Exxonmobil Corporation dan SMC adalah sah.

Menurut Azan, kerajaan boleh campur tangan untuk membatalkan perjanjian sedia ada tetapi tidak mempunyai kezaman politik untuk berbuat demikian kerana amalan kronisme yang begitu menebal.

“Sepatutnya Najib campurtangan sebagai perdana menteri. Kita tahu, San Miguel ini ada kaitan dengan anak Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang juga mentor Najib. Sepatutnya Perdana Menteri mengutamakan syarikat tempatan.

“Inilah bukti Najib kekalkan amalan kronisme dan nepotisme. Sebab, dia pun amal perkara sama,” katanya dihubungi Keadilandaily.com.

San Miguel Corp sah mengambil alih ekuiti Exxonmobil Corporation sebanyak 65 peratus sebagaimana kenyataan yang dikeluarkan pada 17 Ogos lalu.

Anak kepada bekas perdana menteri, Mirzan Mahathir memiliki kepentingan dalam SMC- sebuah syarikat berkaitan arak yang terbesar di Filipina.

Menurut jurucakap yang terlibat dalam urus niaga itu, ia adalah perjanjian komersial peringkat tertinggi yang menjadi amalan biasa dalam transaksi jual- beli organisasi korporat di peringkat antarabangsa.

Sumber itu berkata, perkara berkenaan telah pun dibawa ke Kabinet Rabu lalu untuk dimaklumkan kepada Perdana Menteri yang kemudian meminta Kementerian Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (MITI) menyelesaikan ‘dengan cara berhemah’.

Menurut sumber itu, Sekiranya ExxonMobil Corporation bersedia untuk menimbang semula keputusan yang dibuat, syarikat itu akan berdepan dengan tindakan undang-undang daripada SMC.

SMC yang berjaya dalam bidaan itu akan menguasai 65 peratus pegangan dalam syarikat dagangan petroleum tersenarai, Esso Malaysia Bhd (EMB), dan syarikat milik penuhnya ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (EMMSB) dan ExxonMobil Borneo Sdn. Bhd. (EMBSB) pada harga AS$610 juta (RM1.83 bilion) atau RM3.50 sesaham EMB.

UMNO Memperbodohkan Komponen BN Yang Lain Melalui NGO Melayu dan Islam

Tanpa kekuatan Parti-Parti lain di dalam BN seperti MCA mewakili Kaum Cina, MIC untuk Kaum India, PBS mewakili kaum Kadazan serta PRS dan SPDP mewakili kaum Iban, UMNO tidak akan dapat memerintah Malaysia secara mutlak. Oleh yang demikian walaupun mewakili kaum Melayu-Islam, UMNO tidak akan memperjuangkan hak Kaum Melayu-Muslim sehingga menyinggung perasaan kaum-kaum lain di dalam komponen BN. Oleh yang demikian, pertumbuhan bagaikan cendawan NGO-NGO yang memperjuangkan hak-hak orang Melayu-Islam seperti PERKASA, Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM), Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) dan lain-lain adalah merupakan pertubuhan yang ditaja oleh UMNO untuk memperjuangkan hak-hak kaum Melayu-Islam di Malaysia.

Malaysians Reminded not to Get Fool By These two Stooges

Melihat perkembangan politik semasa sekarang di mana UMNO menggunakan politik perkauman dan agama, saya merasa hairan dengan ketidak-upayaan pemimpin-pemimpin kaum India, Cina, Dayak serta peribumi Sabah untuk membaca gerakan-gerakan UMNO yang macam mengutamakan Kaum Melayu-Islam (walaupun sebenarnya adalah untuk kepentingan kroni-kroni elit UMNO) sahaja.

Alangkah bodohnya pemimpin-pemimpin kaum ini yang tidak dapat menyelami taktik kotor UMNO ini. Lebih parah lagi apabila saya perhatikan akan ketidak-upayaan pemimpin dari Sabah-Sarawak yang majoriti penduduknya adalah dari kaum peribumi yang beagama Kristian untuk membela (Bukan membela secara kekerasan tapi dengan kekuatan undi) nasib penganut agama Kristian di Semenanjung yang acapkali dibuli olen NGO Melayu-Islam. Cuba imbas kembali tentang apa yang berlaku di Semenanjung contohnya perbuatan Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) yang memberikan bantuan kepada penganut Islam yang daif, tetapi telah dilayan bagaikan penjenayah oleh MAIS dan bibantu oleh PDRM UMNO. Saya ingin mengajukan pertanyaan kepada pemimpin-pemimpin bukan Muslim daripada BN seperti Masing, Jabu, Manyin, Dr Wong Soon Koh, Pairin Kitingan dll, kenapa berdiam diri? Di manakah telur-telur kalian? Kecut sehingga masuk ke dalam perutke?

Kepada pemimpin-pemimpin di dalam BN yang mewakili kaum India, Cina, Dayak serta peribumi Sabah takkanlah kalian tidak tahu bahawa UMNO berselindung di belakang NGO-NGO Melayu-Islam? Cuba tengok betul-betul NGO yang ektremis ini. Majoriti daripada keanggotaan serta pemimpin-pemimpin NGO ini adalah terdiri daripada ahli-ahli UMNO. takada otak atau matakah kalian? Atau otak letak atas kepala lutut.

Saya ingin mencabar pemimpin-pemimpin di dalam BN yang mewakili pengundi-pengundi daripada kaum bukan Muslim agar bersuara atau meletak jawatan yang telah diamanatkan oleh pengundi-pengundi kepada kamu sekelian. Cukuplah makan gaji buta atau mengisi kocek sendiri!

Saya menulis pada kali ini bukan atas dorongan kerana membenci kaum Melayu-Islam, jauh sekali, ini kerana kebanyakan kawan saya adalah kaum Melayu-Islam. Tujuan saya menulis kali ini adalah sekadar untuk menyedarkan pemimpin-pemimpin yang mewakili kaum bukan-Islam di Malaysia ini agar tidak terpedaya oleh taktik kotor UMNO.

Sebagai mengakhiri tulisan saya pada kali ini, sekali lagi saya ingin mengingatkan pemimpin-pemimpin dari parti-parti seperti MCA mewakili Kaum Cina, MIC untuk Kaum India, PBS mewakili kaum Kadazan serta PRS dan SPDP mewakili kaum Iban, agar tidak terpedaya oleh UMNO yang berselindung di sebalik NGO Melayu-Islam. Saya juga berharap agar pemimpin-pemimpin ini tidak terpedaya oleh retorik 1Malaysia PM Najib kerana keadaan di Malaysia sekarang dari segi kehormonian serta kebebasan beragama serta semangat perkauman adalah lebih slogan daripada kenyataan. Masih ingatkah kita akan jawapan TPM Mahyuddin yang diajukan dengan soalan tentang 1Malaysia? Saya harap pembaca semua boleh ingat bahawai bagi Mahyuddin adalah "Malay First, Malaysia Second" . Itukah makna 1Malaysia yang diwar-warkan oleh PM Najib? Saya tidak perlu jelaskan di sini. Saya mengharapkan agar pembaca-pembaca Bukittunggal menjawab sendiri persoalan ini serta menterjemahkannya di dalam bentuk undi kelian.

UMNO Tidak Prihatin – Najib Sahkan GST (Cukai Barangan Dan Perkhidmatan) Dilaksana Selepas PRU Ke13 !

KUALA LUMPUR: Beban kehidupan rakyat akan bertambah parah berikutan langkah kerajaan melaksanakan cukai Barangan dan Perkhidmatan (GST), tegas Ahli Majlis Pimpinan Pusat KEADILAN, Abdul Rahman Yusof.

Beliau mengulas pengumuman Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak semalam bahawa kerajaan sedang meninjau kemungkinan melaksanakan GST selepas pilihan raya umum akan datang.

Kenyataan itu sekaligus bertentangan dengan jaminan Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Idris Jala pada Julai lalu bahawa GST akan ditangguhkan lebih lama.

Idris yang juga mengetuai Unit Pengurusan Prestasi dan Pelaksanaan (PEMANDU) sebelum ini berkata pelaksanaan sistem itu juga memerlukan tempoh sekurang-kurangnya 18 bulan dilaksanakan.

Menurut Abdul Rahman, kerajaan terpaksa melaksanakan GST tregesa-gesa kerana sumber kewangan negara semakin tenat disebabkan amalan rasuah dan ketirisan sebanyak RM28 bilion setahun.

“Pelaksanaan GST ini disebabkan sumber kewangan negara sudah kehabisan akibat rasuah dan ketirisan, maka kerajaan terpaksa mengambil cukai daripada rakyat untuk menampung keperluan kewangan negara.

“Ini menunjukan kewangan negara tenat dan pelaksanaan tergesa-gesa ini membuktikan Najib lebih mengutamakan kroni berbanding kesengsaraan rakyat,” katanya.

Katanya, banyak projek yang menelan jutaan ringgit terpaksa diselamatkan dengan kontrak baru secara runding terus yang akhirnya menyebabkan kosnya melonjak tinggi.

Tambah beliau, kenyataan Najib bahawa pengenalan GST seiring dengan pengenalan cukai pendapatan juga tidak relevan kerana kelompok membayar cukai pendapatan di negara ini hanya sekitar 10 peratus.

Sedangkan mereka yang akan membayar GST adalah seluruh rakyat Malaysia, termasuk mereka yang tidak bekerja dan melibatkan semua jenis barangan dan perkhidmatan.

Ketika ditanya apakah Pakatan rakyat mampu menghapuskan GST jika mengambil alih tampuk pentadbiran negara, Abdul Rahman optimis Pakatan mampu berbuat demikian berdasarkan janji yang terkandung dalam Buku Jingga.

“Buku Jingga menggariskan keutamaan dalam perbelanjaan negara, menutup segala ketirisan dalam sistem kewangan negara dan ini terbukti berlaku di Selangor dan Pulau Pinang apabila kerajaan mempunyai surplus (lebihan).

“Malah Pakatan dapat buat kebajikan seperti program Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES). Di Kelantan dan Kedah walaupun keadaan sumber pendapatan terhad, juga mampu menjaga kebajikan rakyat.

“Ini menunjukkan kita berupaya untuk menghapuskan GST,” katanya.

KUALA LUMPUR: Timbalan Ketua Angkatan Muda KEADILAN, (AMK) Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin menggesa Menteri Di Jabatan Perdana Menteri yang bertanggungjawab terhadap hal ehwal Agama Islam, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir menjelaskan rumah mewahnya yang dianggar menelan jutaan ringgit.

Keraguan timbul apabila menteri yang baru dilantik 3 tahun oleh Perdana Menteri dan hanya memiliki gaji tidak menjangkau RM15,000 itu, mampu memiliki kediaman mewah dalam masa yang singkat.

“Kalau dia (Jamil Khir) rasa seorang yang berpegang teguh terhadap agama dan ada kebertanggungjawaban terhadap negara, dia perlu jujur menjelaskan kekayaan sebelum dan selepas (menjadi menteri),” katanya mengulas isu yang didedah oleh akhbar Suara Keadilan semalam.

Khairul berkata ia bukan perkara memeranjatkan kerana menjadi kebiasaan menteri yang ditadbir Kerajaan Barisan Nasional (BN) hidup mewah.

Beliau merujuk kes bekas Menteri Selangor Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo yang mencetus kontroversi kerana kos kediamannya dikatakan melebihi kemampuan sebagai menteri besar yang berkhidmat selama lapan tahun.

“Rakyat pun tidak terperanjat dengan isu yang sudah dianggap biasa ini. Oleh itu, jika beliau (Jamil) ada sedikit rasa tanggungjawab dengan imej dan kedudukannya, beliau perlu tampil memberi penjelasan.

“Walaupun (dia) Jamil Khir merupakan Menteri Agama namun ia bukanlah jaminan beliau berperangai seperti Menteri-menteri lain” katanya kepada Keadilandaily.

Sebelum ini KEADILAN pernah mempersoalkan kehilangan RM32,000 wang zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) didakwa membiayai yuran guaman Jamil Khir dan Pengarah Jabatan Islam (JAWI), Datuk Che Mat Ali.

Ia terbongkar melalui kenyataan media Timbalan Menteri di Jabatan Menteri, Datuk Mashitah Ibrahim, beberapa bulan lalu.

Wang zakat tersebut didakwa digunakan bagi menghalang permohonan qazaf Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim terhadap Saiful Bukhari Azlan, sedangkan Jamil dan Che Mat tidak tergolong dalam kategori yang layak menerima zakat.

Tun Mahathir memberi mesej bahawa Najib Tun Razak juga bukan merupakan 'calon boleh menang' dan secara tidak langsung merupakan liabiliti kepada Umno-BN.

KUALA LUMPUR: Naib Presiden PAS Dato’ Mahfuz Omar menyifatkan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad sebagai ‘mastermind’ yang berperanan untuk menjatuhkan pentadbiran Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Beliau merujuk kepada kenyataan mantan perdana menteri itu semalam yang menasihati Najib agar pilihan raya umum (PRU) ke-13 dilewatkan bagi meneliti semula senarai ‘calon-calon yang boleh menang’.

Mahfuz yang juga Ahli Parlimen Pokok Sena berkata nasihat Mahathir itu memberi mesej bahawa Najib juga bukan merupakan ‘calon boleh menang’ dan secara tidak langsung merupakan liabiliti kepada Umno dan Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Umno-BN berhadapan isu calon dan parti…..malah semalam Mahathir bagi mesej jelas bahawa Najib juga bukan calon yang dilihat boleh menang apabila menasihatkan Perdana Menteri itu untuk melewatkan PRU ke-13.

“Najib liabiliti bagi BN. Ini diakui golongan dalaman Umno yang cuba memberi tekanan kepada Najib untuk berundur sebelum PRU.

“Mahathir ‘mastermind’ Umno. Saya bimbang ada kumpulan yang menjadi telunjuk Mahathir ini seperti gerakan yang dilakukan ke atas Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi dulu,” katanya dalam sidang media di Ibu pejabat PAS di sini hari ini.

Dalam perkembangan lain, Mahfuz turut mencadangkan penubuhan sebuah panel bebas untuk mengkaji semula sejarah. Ini berikutan tercetusnya kekeliruan berhubung pandangan mengenai sejarah Malaya baru-baru ini.

Beliau berpendapat mana-mana pihak perlu bersikap terbuka berhubung kenyataan daripada Majlis Profesor Negara (MPN) bahawa Malaya tidak pernah dijajah.

“Saya tidak kata MPN itu benar tapi mungkin mereka ada fakta tertentu untuk menyokong hujah bahawa Malaya tidak pernah dijajah British.

“Mungkin betul, mungkin tidak…..maka kita perlu kembali kepada saranan Menteri Pengajian Tinggi (Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin) agar melihat kembali sejarah.

“Kita boleh panggil Mat Sabu (Mohamad Sabu) untuk kemukakan fakta sejarah dan bukannya timbulkan perdebatan politik untuk fitnah orang,” jelasnya.

Sementara itu, menyentuh mengenai cukai perkhidmatan yang dikenakan ke atas rakyat, Mahfuz mahu dasar percukaian kerajaan perlu diperbetulkan dan menurutnya, cukai dari lima peratus kepada enam peratus itu tidak wajar.

“Kenaikan cukai perkhidmatan itu merupakan isu besar yang menyebabkan pengguna menjadi tunggang langgang dan kerajaan perlu mengkaji semula fakta-fakta percukaian tersebut yang membebankan rakyat,” katanya.

A few of us Bloggers spent a very interesting morning with Dato JJ Raj today. Dato JJ Raj was the OCPD of Pagoh in Johor on February 23rd 1950, the day the Bukit Kepong Police Station was attacked and burnt to the ground by the communist terrorists or CTs.

Treacherous and traitorous elements in the country are twisting the facts about a sad period in our modern history for what ends I really dont know. There are other, more clevere elements who wish to deny the history of the country and replace it with their own twisted version. Here is one example I read in the newspaper today :

"It is essential to get the facts right, but we should seek not just truth but also a sense of perspective from an accurate interpretation of the facts".

This is a carefully considered statement that actually says nothing. Does it support the already known and well established events that happened in our country since the Japanese occupation of Malaya until 31st August 1957 when the Union Jack was lowered in the country (which was also reported in all the newspapers in the country everyday over that period)

does it take the side of Mat Sapu B.O and the Pakatan maniacs who are now saying that Chin Peng was a freedom fighter, that the murderer Mat Indera tried to get the dying policemen (whom he had just shot and burned) to 'mengucap kalimah syahadah' before they died?

Read the statement again. It is left intentionally ambigous. It is designe! d to be read either way.

To cut the argument short, it is much easier to use what the other side has said. It becomes easier when they put their thoughts down in writing. Was Chin Peng a freedom fighter? Mat Indera was trying to teach the Policemen he had shot to 'mengucap kalimah syahadah'?

Here is an extract from Chin Peng's biography "alias Chin Peng - My Side of History' as told to Ian Ward and Norma Miraflor.

It does give us a "sense of perspective from an accurate interpretation of the facts". The facts here are the statements (in black and white) as written by Chin Peng himself in his own 516 page biography. I have read the book twice so far. It is on pages 256 and 257. I call it the "Siew Lau Land Episode". Chin Peng says,

"It was brought to the attention of our Politiburo discussions that Siew Lau was now insisting on diverging from agreed Party policy on the delicate subject of land distribution. The Party line called for the broad nationalisation of the rubber industry. Siew Lau was demanding we announce publicly that the CPM, when it came to power, would seize all plantation land, irrespective of ownership and redistribute it to Malay peasants. To make matters worse, he had already begun to propagat these thoughts by distributing a badly written booklet expanding on his theories.

Siew Lau's ideas were preposterous. They would never work and could only spawn horendous communal problems. On the British plantations, most of the workers were Indians. The next largest racial group was Chinese and the remainder were Indonesian Malays. As an exercise in damage control, we despatched ! Ah Koek, a member of the Central Malayan Bureau, to Malacca with orders to pull Siew Lau back to the Party line and dissuade any of those he may have influenced.

Ah Koek had no problems with the rank-and-file but Siew Lau proved recalcitrant. Reports we received from our Central Bureau man intimidated that the top communist in Malacca was on the verge of forming a splinter group. The Politburo demoted Siew Lau thus isolating him from the rest of his state committee. As our orders impacted, Siew Lau planned a dash for Sumatra. His intended escape route was revealed and together with his wife, also a Party member, and two bodyguards, he was found hiding in a coastal village. A fishing boat had been ordered to take the group across the Malacca Straits. All four were immediatey detained, sentenced to death as military deserters and executed on May 15, 1950. The execution order was issued by Ah Koek. The Malacca problems were dissipated, but the overall incident would have a shocking backlash several months later."

Siew Lau did not know it at that time but he was already a member of Perkasa - he was fighting for Malay rights. Siew Lau wanted to take the rubber estate plantation lands and redistribute them to the Malay peasants - from whom the lands were usually appropriated in the first place.

For this flash of benevolence, FOUR PEOPLE ie Siew Lau, his wife and two others were killed by the 'Party Politburo'. A small massacre in Malacca. And who was the Head of the Party Politburo who ordered the executions? The same 'alias Chin Peng'. This was 'freedom fighter' Chin Peng and Party Politburo style. If anyone comes up with ideas that do not toe the Party line - just kill them.

I know Chin Peng is lying through his teeth here too. He says the four people were "sentenced to death as military deserters" - only after they were caught trying to run away to Sumatera. Why would they want to run away to Sumatera in the first place - if it was not to save their own lives? They knew they would be executed. That is why they wanted to run away to Sumatera.

Chin Peng's goon Ah Koek ("we despatched Ah Koek, a member of the Central Malayan Bureau, to Malacca with orders to pull Siew Lau back to the Party line") already had orders to kill Siew Lau. That is why Siew Lau, his wife and two bodyguards were running away to Sumatera. They were running for their lives.

The book has 516 pages. On the last page, Chin Peng lies again : "I have been reported to have thrown out of the CPM people who were not even members of the Party; to have ordered the executions of those who opposed me. Again, baseless."

Well the late Siew Lau, his late wife and two other dead people would certainly disagree. Chin Peng the freedom fighter, Head of the Politburo, had had them killed.

Sebaik sahaja sidang akhbar Ahmad Ismail tamat, bekas ahli badan perhubungan Umno negeri, Zainol Abidin Hashim, dengan bantuan rakan-rakannya telah menurunkan gambar Dr Koh Tsu Koon dari dinding ibupejabat Umno tersebut. Zainol kemudiannya mengeluarkan gambar Dr Koh Tsu Koon dari bingkai gambar dan mengoyaknya dan gesaan supaya Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia dipecat dari Barisan Nasional oleh UMNO Pulau Pinang. Perbuatan ganas ini ada disiarkan berita NTV7.- (9 September, 2008)

Namun kerana kemaruk kuasa UMNO Penang melutut dan merayu kepada Koh Tsu Koon....

Untuk merampas kuasa kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang daripada Pakatan Rakyat, pemimpin UMNO Pulau Pinang telah memohon maaf kepada Presiden Gerakan Koh Tsu Koon, agar hubungan antara kedua-dua parti yang terjejas sebelum ini dapat dijalin semula. Sementara itu, Ketua Bahagian UMNO Bukit Mertajam Musa Sheikh Fadzir yang sering menyerang Koh Tsu Koon sebelum ini, dikatakan telah berjanji kepada Koh Tsu Koon bahawa dirinya tidak akan menyerang Gerakan lagi.

Malah, UMNO Pulau Pinang berjanji agar jawatan Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang disandang pemimpin Gerakan, seandainya Barisan Nasional menang di Pulau Pinang dalam Pilihan Raya Umum yang akan datang.

Demikianlah laporan Kwong Wah Yit Poh yang disiarkan pada 11 September 2011, memetik daripada sumbernya. Menurut laporan, kebangkitan Pakatan Rakyat selepas 8 Mac 2008 telah menyedarkan UMNO Pulau Pinang, bahawa mereka tidak boleh menang hanya dengan undi Melayu. Kesedaran UMNO Pulau Pinang tentang "kepentingan undi Cina" telah membuka ruang untuk UMNO berbaik semula dengan Gerakan.

Perselisihan berlaku antara UMNO dengan Gerakan dalam beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini, antaranya Pemuda UMNO mengambil kesempatan untuk menyatakan ketidakpuasan terhadap Koh (yang pada ketika itu masih Ketua Menteri), dalam satu acara yang turut dihadiri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Perdana Menteri ketika itu) pada tahun 2006.

Pada September 2008, seorang penyokong bekas Ketua UMNO Bahagian Bukit Bendera Ahmad Ismail mengoyakkan gambar Koh di khalayak ramai, sehingga Koh dipersendakan musuh politiknya. Rata-rata masyarakat Cina menganggap Koh Tsu Koon terlalu "lembik", sehingga mudah "dibuli" pemimpin UMNO.

Koh ugut keluar dari BN?

Seorang pemimpin Gerakan yang memihak kepada Koh, memberitahu Kwong Wah Yit Poh bahawa Koh Tsu Koon amat tegas dalam isu Ahmad Ismail, malah mengugut untuk memanggil Mesyuarat Agong Luar Biasa (EGM) Gerakan agar keluar dari Barisan Nasional, seandainya pimpinan tertinggi UMNO tidak membekukan keahlian Ahmad Ismail.

Menurut laporan, ada usaha sebelum ini untuk menobatkan semula Ahmad Ismail sebagai Ketua Bahagian UMNO Bukit Bendera selepas tamat tempoh pembekuan keahlian beliau, namun usaha ini dihalang kerana tekanan daripada Koh.

Menurut laporan, Presiden UMNO Najib Razak dikatakan memberi jaminan bahawa Ahmad Ismail tidak akan kembali menjadi Ketua Bahagian selagi Najib kekal pada jawatan Presiden UMNO.

Melihat kepada nasib Ahmad Ismail, ditambah pula senario politik yang menyaksikan pemecahan undi Melayu kepada UMNO, PKR dan PAS, maka pemimpin UMNO Pulau Pinang telah menyedari kepentingan undi Cina, lantas berbaik-baik semula dengan Gerakan dalam mesyuarat Barisan Nasional sebelum ini.

Laporan Kwong Wah Yit Poh juga memetik Penyelaras BN DUN Padang Kota, Oh Tong Keong yang mengakui bahawa dirinya pernah mendengar khabar bahawa pemimpin UMNO memohon maaf kepada Koh Tsu Koon, dan berjanji untuk menyokong pemimpin Gerakan untuk menjawat Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang.

Um Oeung berkata, cucunya yang berusia 20 bulan, Tha Sophat mulai menyusu dengan lembu pada Julai lalu, setelah Sophat melihat anak lembu menyusui ibunya.

Pada awalnya, Oeung menghalang cucunya, namun lama kelamaan datuknya itu menyerah kalah ketika cucunya itu memberontak. Sophat pun menyusu kepada lembu selama satu atau dua kali sehari. Demikian seperti dipetik dari Associated Press, pada 10 September.

Sophat hidup bersama datuknya di Provinsi Siem Reap yang terletak di bahagian utara Kamboja semenjak orangtuanya pergi ke Thailand untuk mencari pekerjaan.

Oeung menyatakan, lembu tersebut tampak tidak keberatan ketika Sophat menyusu dengannya. Meski demikian Oeung sangat bimbang akan kesihatan cucunya yang menyusu dari lembu secara langsung.

Kerana di setiap susu lembu yang belum dimasak tentunya mengandungi bakteria.

Sejumlah RM465 juta telah dibelanjakan Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Selangor untuk Program Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) sejak tahun 2008 sehingga April 2011.
Jumlah ini meliputi fasa pertama hingga ketiga yang telah dilancarkan oleh kerajaan negeri pada Program 100 hari pemerintahan Pakatan Rakyat di Shah Alam pada 20 Jun 2008, kira-kira tiga bulan selepas mengambil alih pemerintahan negeri itu.
Antara program fasa pertama itu termasuk Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (TAWAS), Hadiah Anak Masuk Universiti, Skim Mesra Emas, Tabung Pendidikan Anak-anak Pelajar Ladang, Bekalan Air Percuma Bagi 20 meter padu Pertama, Program Meningkatkan Hasil Batuan Dan Mineral serta Program Khidmat Krisis Sehenti (OSCC).
Bagi fasa kedua pula meliputi Cuti Bersalin 90 hari, Cuti 14 hari untuk suami yang isterinya bersalin dan Cuti Kematian Suami 30 hari.
Fasa ketiga pula merangkumi Skim Mikrokredit Miskin Bandar (MiMBAR), Skim Mikrokredit Selangor (SkimSEL), Skim Kesihatan Wanita (MammoSEL) dan juga Pusat Dialisis Rakyat.
Setiausaha Politik kepada Menteri Besar Selangor, Faekah Husin (gambar)menjelaskan apa yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan negeri di dalam program tersebut adalah satu usaha untuk mengembalikan hak rakyat kepada rakyat.
“Kerajaan negeri melakukan sesuatu yang baik untuk rakyatnya dan kita lihat sebanyak RM465 juta telah diperuntukan sejak dari mula-mula Program MES ini dilancarkan sehingga April 2011 dan ia melibatkan seramai 4,772,501 orang rakyat negeri Selangor.
“Jika sebelum ini banyak tentangan mahupun ketidak yakinan timbul apabila program tersebut ingin dilancarkan tetapi satu yang luar biasa berlaku apabila rakyat sudah dapat melihat secara jelas kejayaan program tersebut, “katanya dalam satu temubual khas dengan Harakahdaily.
RM382 juta untuk 20 meter padu air percuma
Menurut Faekah, peruntukan paling besar dibelanjakan untuk kesejahteraan rakyat adalah pemberian bekalan air percuma 20 meter padu
Katanya, hampir RM382 juta kos yang ditanggung kerajaankerajaan negeri untuk tujuan itu merangkumi 4.77 juta rakyat selangor.
“Walaupun dua puluh meter padu ini kita lihat amat kecil tetapi kepada rakyat yang berpendapatan rendah merasakan ia adalah satu jumlah yang besar dan setidak-tidaknya ia dapat mengurangkan beban kepada mereka.
“Kita mahukan rakyat merasai kekayaan negeri ini dan dengan cara ini sahajalah kenikmatan tersebut dapat dirasai oleh rakyat,” sambung beliau lagi.
Dalam pada masa yang sama beliau tidak menolak masih terdapat rasa tidak puas hati berhubung isu pemberian air percuma itu, terutamanya tuduhan mengatakan kerajaan negeri tidak membayar bil kepada Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas).
Dalam penjelasannya kepada Harakahdaily, Faekah berkata Isu tidak membayar bil sehingga menyebabkan berlakunya pemotongan bekalan air dan menjadi tomahan kepada pihak tertentu adalah tidak benar sama sekali, dan sebenarnya setiap bil mahupun bayaran dibayar secara terus kepada Syabas tanpa ada sebarang tunggakan
“Yang berlakunya pemotongan bekalan air itu adalah melibatkan penggunaan meter secara pukal di kediaman seperti flat mahupun pangsapuri. Pihak kerajaan negeri telah mengambil langkah terbaik bagi mengelakkan perkara tersebut berulang dengan memberi kupon air percuma kepada penduduk di kediaman tersebut setiap bulan.
“Kita mahukan yang terbaik untuk rakyat dan setiap permasalahan yang berlaku perlu diselesaikan agar rakyat terus dapat menikmati apa yang telah disediakan oleh kerajaan negeri di bawah Pakatan Rakyat.,” katanya.

Akhir-akhir ini, beberapa kenyataan-kenyataan dan pandangan-pandangan telah dikeluarkan melalui media oleh pimpinan Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Johor, termasuklah dari Parti KEADILAN Rakyat sendiri berhubung hal rundingan kerusi pilihanraya umum ke-13 di antara parti-parti sekutu Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Johor. Kenyataan dan pandangan yang diutarakan walaubagaimanapun, telah mengundang spekulasi dan persepsi yang pelbagai.

Saya ingin menyebut bahawa Majlis Presiden Pakatan Rakyat telah pun membuat suatu ketetapan dan mengeluarkan arahan kepada kesemua pimpinan-pimpinan parti masing-masing supaya hal ehwal rundingan kerusi tidak dibincang mahupun dihebah secara terbuka.

Proses rundingan kerusi di antara parti-parti sekutu Pakatan Rakyat merupakan suatu proses yang berterusan yang menjadi tanggungjawab bersama pimpinan KEADILAN, PAS dan DAP bagi mencapai satu matlamat yang khusus - iaitu bagi menumbangkan kerajaan Barisan Nasional dalam pilihanraya umum ke-13 ini, yang kian terserlah kegagalan mereka untuk membela nasib rakyat serta cara dan keputusan pentadbiran mereka yang kini terus dipersoalkan ketelusannya. Tentunya dalam mana-mana proses perundingan, akan ada wujudnya keadaan yang menduga kesefahaman semua pihak yang berunding.

Saya dengan ini menasihatkan kesemua ahli-ahli pimpinan KEADILAN, PAS dan DAP Johor, dan juga di lain-lain negeri untuk mematuhi ketetapan dan arahan yang dikeluarkan oleh Majlis Presiden Pakatan Rakyat serta menghormati dan menerima konsep kerjasama Pakatan Rakyat yang menekankan rasa hormat-menghormati sesama kita dalam ertikata yang sebenarnya. Saya juga menggesa kesemua ahli-ahli pimpinan KEADILAN, PAS dan DAP untuk terus memberi tumpuan terhadap keperluan dan persediaan kerja jentera pilihanraya masing-masing bagi terus menyerlahkan peluang Pakatan Rakyat untuk membentuk kerajaan dalam Pilihanraya Umum ke-13 nanti.

Bagi pihak Parti KEADILAN Rakyat, saya ingin menyatakan keyakinan dan sokongan Parti kepada Pengerusi Majlis Pimpinan Negeri Johor, Datuk Chua Jui Meng dalam meneruskan rundingan bagi mencapai persetujuan hakiki dalam urusan rundingan kerusi ini.

Saranan pihak pembangkang untuk kerajaan berunding dengan mereka (pembangkang) untuk menentukan tarikh pilihanraya mendapat tentangan dari Dr Mahathir Mohammad, bekas Perdana Menteri negara. Dr Mahathir menyarankan yang pihak pembangkang menubuhkan dahulu kerajaan dan mereka (pembangkang) boleh menentukan tarikh pilihanraya negara.

Selalunya di mana-mana juga di dunia ini kerajaanlah yang menentukan tarikh pilihanraya, bukannya pembangkang. Tetapi Mahathir lupa yang AS tetap mengadakan pilihanraya setelah tamat 4 tahun penggal sesuatu kerajaan yang di pilih itu mentadbir negara itu. Tetapi Mahathir juga betul jika beliau membandingkan negara-negara mundur seperti negara ‘favorite’ beliau Zimbabwe di Afrika dan banyak negara lain di dunia ini.

Tetapi kalau kita bercita-cita hendak menjadi negara maju tentulah cara AS dan Britain menentukan pilihanraya mereka menjadi contoh kepada kita. Tetapi isu ini tidak sepatutnya menjadi polimik kita kerana cara itu sudah menjadi cara kita. Kerajaan yang memerintah khususnya Perdana Menterilah yang akan menentukan tarikh pilihanraya negara.

Malahan Dr Mahathir telah menubuhkan kerajaan dulu sebelum beliau menubuhkan UMNO yang ada pada hari ini pada Februari 1988 dahulu. Kerajaan wujud dahulu baru UMNO ditubuhkan, dan pada tahun berikutnya (1990) baru di adakan pilihanraya umum.

Kita mesti faham bahawa kita masih membudayakan politik dunia ketiga walaupun pemimpin-pemimpin kita begegar-gegar bercakap hendak jadikan negara ini sebagai negara berdaya maju dan mempunyai mentaliti rakyat negara maju.

Saya cadangkan kepada pembangkang tidak usahlah hendak membawa isu ini ketengah kerana mereka yang memimpin tidak akan berganjak dari cara lama itu. Lagi pun pembangkang tidak payah lagi bersusah payah kerana apa sahaja yang dilakukan oleh UMNO dan BN sekarang ini semua ‘self defeating’ dan mereka akan menghadapi masalah di atas tindakan mereka sendiri.

Mereka (UMNO) dan pemimpin mereka tidak konsisten dalam tindakan mereka. Pemimpin UMNO bukannya sayang sangat kepada UMNO itu sebabnya mereka melakukan perkara-perkara pelik yang menjahanamkan parti mereka sendiri. Semuanya kerana kehendak peribadi.

Dr Mahathir sendiri pernah keluar dari UMNO yang beliau tubuhkan itu, semata-mata kerana hendak menyungkurkan Pak Lah. Jika keutuhan UMNO itu benar-benar menjadi perjuangan beliau, Mahathir tidak sepatutnya keluar dari parti semata-mata kerana marahkan Pak Lah. Saya bukan menyokong Pak Lah tetapi tindakan Dr Mahathir keluar parti itu merupakan tindakan yang menunjukan beliau berpolitik semata-mata kerana peribadi. Asalkan Pak Lah jatuh partinya jatuh pun tidak mengapa bagi beliau. Peribadinya mesti di dahulukan.

Itu sebabnya yang menjatuhkan UMNO bukan pembangkang tetapi parti itu dijatuhkan oleh pemimpin-pemimpin dan ahli-ahlinya sendiri. Itu sebabnya UMNO sekarang sedang menghadapi penyakit ‘terminal’ dan amat payah untuk diperbaiki. Jika parti jatuh kita akan di persalahkan. Mereka tidak juga bersalah.

Dalam keadaan yang tenat sekarang ini pun ada pihak di kalangan pemimpin yang berpengaruh di dalam UMNO sedang berusaha untuk menjatuhkan Najib. Tetapi di nafikan oleh mereka. Tetapi dalam UMNO yang mereka cakap itu tidak selalunya betul, tetapi yang di katakan berita angin jahat itu lah yang selalunya menjadi benar.

Bagi mereka yang mempunyai sisik politik sedikit sebanyak tidak akan menafikan keadaan itu berlaku di dalam UMNO. Berbagai-bagai cerita yang ada di dalam UMNO ini sekarang, tetapi kita tidak payah membesarkannya kerana akhirnya yang tidak berapa lama lagi ia akan menjadi berita yang benar. Tetapi tidak siapa boleh menghalangnya. Yang hendak dijatuhkan dan yang hendak menjatuhkan itu adalah dari kumpulan yang sama yang sama sifat dan sikapnya. Jika berjaya pun pihak yang hendak menjatuhkan Najib itu keadaan tidak akan berubah juga.

Inilah yang membuatkan ahli-ahli UMNO sendiri menjadi mual kerana politiking yang begitu kuat di dalam parti itu. Tidak habis-habis dengan gossip di antara satu dengan yang lain di belakang sesama mereka tetapi berlakun berbaik-baik di hadapan. UMNO kian hari kian di sertai oleh mereka yang tidak tahu hujung pangkal UMNO itu jauh lagi untuk memahami perjuangannya kerana pemimpin-pemimpin sendiri tidak tahu kenapa mereka berada di sana.

Pemimpin-pemimpin UMNO yang tinggi-tinggi itu pun tertanya-tanya bagaimana mereka boleh berada di atas itu; adakah kerana kepimpinan? ATAU kerana politik wang? Atau kerana berjaya dalam tindakan mengampu pucuk pimpinan atau apa? Ahli-ahli di bawah pula diarah untuk memberikan sokongan tanpa berbalah bagi. Mereka di bawah hanya diperlukan semasa pilihanraya untuk mereka terus berglamor dan melakukan rasuah besar untuk memperkayakan keluarga dan suku sakat mereka.

Bagi mereka yang tidak bersetuju dengan kerajaan mereka jangan sekali-kali terjebak dengan budaya memaki hamun yang dilakukan oleh penyokong BN pada hari ini. Tindakan memaki hamun serta memBABIkan dan MengANJINGkan mereka yang berfikiran yang berbeza akan hanya memakan diri mereka sendiri kerana rakyat ramai sudah pandai menilai yang mana yang betul dan yang salah.

Selalunya orang yang akan jatuh akan menjerit kehulu kehilir dan itu merupakan tanda-tanda mereka akan jatuh. Ini bukan ilmu tetapi petua. Kita tunggu sahaja. Kita diamkan sahaja diri kita jika mereka memaki hamun kita kerana maki hamun mereka itu tidak akan mencederakan maruah kita. Lagi pun memaki hamun itu bukannya budaya mereka yang berkepimpinan

Maki hamun mereka itu hanya akan ‘boomerang’ kepada mereka sendiri. Usah kita hiraukan mereka itu. Kalau kita pinjam kata-kata Dr Mahathir sendiri, UMNO itu sudah busuk hingga ke ususnya.

Kepada pembangkang saya berpendapat, masa sudah pun tiba untuk anda mengambil pemerintahan negara. Tadbirlah negara dengan baik kerana jika gagal rakyat ada hak untuk menarik balik mandat itu.

Bagaimana pun saya yakin, 'the worst of the opposition is lot better than the best of BN' dalam keadaan sekarang.

Najib Tak Perlu Bantu Bumi,Pakatan Tak Setuju.

Perlukah Najib bantu bumiputra? Kenapa?Mengapa? Bukankah ini bercanggah dengan perjuangan pakatan rakyat? Kit Siang,Guan Eng,Nik Ajis,Anwar dan seluruh gerembolan haprak pakatan sudah pasti tak setuju.

Najib: Bantu bumiputera mesra pasaran
KUALA LUMPUR 13 Sept. — Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak berkata, tindakan afirmatif untuk membantu bumiputera yang diperkenal di bawah Dasar Ekonomi Baru (DEB) kekal tetapi berubah menjadi lebih mesra pasaran dan berdasarkan merit.
Najib yang juga Menteri Kewangan berkata, strategi kerajaan sekarang yang mewujudkan lebih banyak peluang bagi bumiputera tanpa mengenakan kuota ke atas kaum lain juga menarik bukan bumiputera.
"Apa yang kita dapati ialah cara ini (tindakan afirmatif di bawah DEB) pertamanya, ia tidak popular dengan pasaran dan kedua, tidak benar-benar membantu bumiputera.
"Apa yang cuba kita lakukan sekarang ialah mengubahnya, tindakan afirmatif kekal, tetapi ia harus lebih mesra pasaran dan harus lebih berdasarkan merit.
"Dengan kata lain, kita mewujudkan peluang bagi mereka berkembang maju dan tidak mengenakan kuota ke atas pihak lain. Jadi, itulah falsafah umumnya, kita menuju ke arah itu dan ia semakin baik dan lebih menarik kepada bukan bumiputera jika kita melakukannya atas dasar itu," kata Perdana Menteri pada Persidangan CEO Global Forbes Ke-11 di sini, hari ini.
Najib berkata demikian ketika berkongsi pandangannya tentang prestasi dan cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi negara sejak beliau mengambil alih pucuk pimpinan pada 2009.-Utusan

Kecewa PM tak sudi jumpa blogger Umno ugut potong kaki Nawemee

Gambar diatas ialah gambar rakaman screen sebuah blogger tegar Umno, Blog RBF atau lebih dikenali sebagai Ruang Bicara Faisal ialah antara blogger tegar Umno yang telah menyuarakan kekecewaan terhadap Perdana Menteri kerana tidak dapat bertemu dengan PM walaupun mempunyai idea dan aspirasi, sedangkan Nawemee yang dikatakan telah menghina negara, bangsa dan agama diberikan peluang untuk bertemu dengan Perdana Menteri.

Dengan tajuk "Parang Panjang Untuk Potong Kaki Namewee Sudah Tersedia", sebuah blog penyokong kerajaan telah bertindak liar di atas ketidak-puas-hatian kepada Perdana Menteri, iaitu orang yang selama ini dipertahankan habis-habisan.

dalam blog tersebut jelas menyatakan;

Kawan-kawan sekalian, sepertimana yang anda tahu bagaimana saya serta kawan-kawan saya, siang malam, pagi petang kami berusaha mempertahankan kerajaan serta PM. Bukan setakat mempertahankan PM, malah terpaksa mempertahankan juga isteri PM daripada fitnah-fitnah yang dilemparkan termasuklah isu cincin 24 juta , tapi kami tidak pernah pun dijemput seperti namewee untuk berjumpa PM.

Tapi si bangsat tersebut sudah melakukan bermacam-macam dajal dan sial serta menghina kaum serta agama , tiba-tiba mendapat layanan istimewa untuk berjumpa PM. Mana pergi namewee ketika Rosmah difitnah beli cincin 24 juta. Kenapa dia tak buat lagu yang mengatakan tuduhan itu fitnah ?

Kawan-kawan semua, saya dah lama menyimpan impian untuk berjumpa PM bagi memberitahu beberapa perkara termasuk idea-idea, tapi tak kesampaian. Saya terfikir , siapalah saya ini untuk berjumpa pemimpin tertinggi negara. Kalau ada pertemuan dengan PM pun di majlis-majlis besar yang melibatkan ramai orang. Maka sudah tentulah sukar untuk kita bercakap di majlis-majlis seperti itu.

Tapi anak haram itu senang-senang sahaja dapat jumpa PM. Siapa yang tak berasap beb ?

Kekecewaan RBF dilihat tidak dapat lagi disorok apabila secara terbuka menempelak pimpinan sendiri beserta dengan satu ancaman bunuh terhadap Nawemee yang akan berjumpa dengan PM. Ia seolah-olah mencabar kewibawaan PM sekiranya mengambil tindakkan kepada RBF akan dilihat sebagai tidak prihatin ke atas bangsa sendiri tetapi membela Nawemee.

Mari kita lihat sejauh mana pihak berwajib berani mengambil tindakan dalam ugutan yang memang terang dan jelas ini.

Namun kemarahan blogger ini ada asasnya. Masih ingat kita bagaimana Nawemee yang dikenali sejak video klipnya mengolah semula lagu negaraku menjadi "Negarakuku" disiarkan di youtube. Beliau bukan saja berdepan dengan tindakan undang - undang tetapi media mengolah kebencian yang melampau dengan mengaitkan Nawemee dengan Pakatan Rakyat dan kebencian melampau diwujudkan dengan api perkauman sebagai asas bahan bakar.

Maka Najib (baca: pimpinan UBN) meraih sepenuhnya keuntungan dengan menunggang sentimen yang dibakar blogger dan 'ngo-ngo' ciptaan mereka tampil ke depan menyemarak kemarahan. Ingat lagi bagaimana Arman ketika itu dia ketua pemuda PERKASA mengamuk dan membakar barang di depan pagar dewan himpunan china dimana Nawemee berada didalam dewan untuk satu program.

Akhirnya setelah melihat semuanya gagal meraih sentimen majoriti rakyat malah di kelas pertengahan imej UBN menjadi lebih negatif kerana tindakan tersebut maka Najib telah tukar strategi. Nawemee diberi ruang membuat filem pula dan semalam bertemu secara peribadi dengan Najib sendiri.

Jika difikirkan kesian dengan kawan - kawan 'bawah' yang begitu emosi pada satu ketika dahulu dalam isu Nawemee ini dan akhirnya dia sendiri mendapat ruang istimewa.

Walaupun memahami kekecewaan kawan-kawan ini tetapi che'GuBard nasihat janganlah sampai ugut-ugut bunuh...itu kurang tamadunnya. Jadikan ini sebagai pengajaran berpada dalam tindakan.

These days thanks to Mat Sabu at least the nation is not gripped by sex scandals, religious bigotry, ugly racism or we are worried about the double dip. Noone seems interested in playing politics or sex or religion or race.

The latest fad like some Birkin handbag is playing with history, becoming some psycho or con historian delving into the past like some expert clairvoyant and wanting to change the past for some God knows what agenda!

It's not about Communists but about BolehLand history where historians usually the English historians have written lies, so much lies about our history that it warrants the real 1PM of Malaysia and No2 of 1Malaysia it was reported when all the way to ole England to ask that the lies be corrected.

Apparently the truth of the matter is that BolehLand was NEVER colonise by the Brits or even the EIC or those British Residents were actually given PR status or consultants coming here to manage the super rich Malay Archipelago at the behest of the wise Rulers.

The Japanese also didn't conquer BolehLand because they were here to eat cheap sushi and sashmi plus probably made sex slaves of the local lasses and after having their raw sushi and Suzie we can supposed, they all went back to the land of the rising Sun!

They should have brought along the immigration fellos who help erase the record of a certain Mongolian lass whose visit was never re! corded w hen she was horribly C4 to dust and a couple of bones. Pardon to the family for this crude description of what's left of their daughter.

What history have these two fellos been taught? The BTN or the UMNO version? If our fellos studied history in UCL, FLOM would flop the subject, while the other will moan an 'F' huh?

Do they think that just because in Bolehland they have the power to flip flop, change their stories and rewrite their history book, they are experts to demand the Brits to lie about their history huh?

After being made to look obviously silly and stupid with their requests, seems the Brits told them if Malaysia will abolish the 31st August Merdeka Day celebration, then Britain will consider amending all the documents in the National Archives in London and will delete all references to the Colonial Office in these documents.

That will also mean there is no need to celebrate Merdeka or Malaysia Day! Shucks was that the way to go to take away to of our cherished public holidays huh?

While some think that the idea of asking the Brits to distort their history to factually correct BolehLand's version, there is actually a lot of wisdom and merit of our two leaders in requesting for them to do an Arnold's Erasure of the Brits ever setting foot in BolehLand and establishing it a colony.

Some may say 'my foot' for such moronic request that shows how dumb or is it desperate our people are to have their own history so they can be the modern Hang Tuahs and heroes or heroines of BolehLand.

I for one as a historian is willing to sacrifice my wisdom and go on a moronic, silly and idiotic mentality because if QEII's ancestors was never an imperialists, these things in BolehLand would be invalid and illegal.

There would not be any Constitution which means no rights, no privileges, a race would never be defined by being inherent with only one religion. The lain lain groups of people including from Kerala or Tongsan would never need to ask anyone to get the! same ri ghts, privileges and freedom than any other BolehLand.

It also means there will be no official religion and anyone can convert to any religion if they so wish.

Noone can claim they are the sons of the soils especially those who convert to Islam.

There must never be any English street or town names ever.

The Stadhuys or Fort Cornwallis and other forts must be torn apart. Hey why not a Talibanisation of anything colonial to wipe out any evidence of they ever being here huh?

And lastly I wouldn't be in BolehLand or perhaps never been born if my ancestors didn't come here and found their other half in BolehLand right?

And they would not be any UMNO, MCA, MIC or Alliance or BN because why do you need them if you have a Sultanate right?

So Malaya must be some summer home to our Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese and English no?

Maybe our PTD officers, you know those supposed to be diplomatic core who are really being diplomatic when they are overseas and don't talk because they can't speak the language of the nation they are posted too.- our PTD course in international relations didn't cover imperialism history.

Or we know our history so well that the Malacca Sultanate was so powerful, wise and cunning to pretend to let the imperialist in, stage some wars to sacrifice their people to make it real they are putting up some resistance while at the back of their mind, they know the imperialists are not colonisers but playing some musical chair among themselves to stay in one place for a certain period, then stage some fake war to take over etc, etc, etc!!!

Is it any surprise that we sent two pop historian who knows nothing about ole British history think at home they can twist and turn anything they want and like ole Tun said, hey we even brought the greatest power and mighty Brits to their knees and granted us ehmm 'Independence', no?

Perhaps rather than waste taxpayers money in their lawatan sambil belajar sejarah visit to London, they could e! nforce t he EO and issue a religious edict against anyone who utter the world 'colonised' and arrest anyone who still insist the Portuguese, Dutch, English and Japanese even 'menakluki' Tanah Melayu. That would not cost taxpayers any penny right?

But then you can't even use the EO as it is from the ole 'colonial' masters, same to the many things in BolehLand!!!

So we should thank our FLOM and No2 of 1Malaysia for being so the brave one and the only bravest people in the world to ask the mighty Brits to change and not distort their history. Even the Japanese government rewriting their ugly WWII history would be nothing compared to what our leaders are trying to accomplish.

But the Brits being Brits and smarter than our leaders, perhaps a librarian at the Colonial Office Records told our two most powerful at least one most powerful person in BolehLand about some historical truths that made them react as reported-

The First Lady and the Deputy Prime Minister told the media during a press conference that the matter will require further discussion and it may be in the long-term interest of the nation that Malaysia acknowledges that prior to 31st August 1957 it was a British colony after all.

The Cabinet will receive the report on Wednesday and it is expected to issue a statement asking Malaysian historians to stop arguing that Malaysia was never colonised by Britain since this raised too many questions involving other issues.

GahLee! require further discussion huh and in the long term interest acknowledge BolehLand was a British colony indeed? Afraid the truth hurt? One wonders because of this accident in history, they get rights and privileges, why the heck do they want to change history and lose them all? Or they think the mighty Malacca Sultanate way of government will grant even more absolute rights and privileges to their present day sons of the soils huh?

What was the trip actually for to be told we were a British colony h! uh? Are we trying to blame our colonial masters of the woes we face today huh?

Anyway, those sane and rational BolehLand folks must ask our FLOM, Frankly Lady Otak Mana? that led both of them to ole England to correct distorted history huh? There are many who are wishing that come GE13 she would be history itself hah!

So if we can't get what we want, why not make pretend we were never a colony? After all we are all great pretenders here not accepting the problems and issues facing everyone. Why not celebrate our 592 year of foundation if some people can accept a Hindu started the Sultanate which was named after conversion to Islam.

Depending on whose version of history one wants to follow, we can celebrate our 592 years if we are ok with the Hindu bit which is the start of our founding.

But why not celebrate two dates, 592 and 589 which that way we still get two public holidays just like for the moment we believe the British colonised us and we got independence twice huh?

But then again you need to accept whose history version first of who founded and when Malacca was founded too right?

Am I required to return my History degree because the history I studied was a great lie because our modern great leaders suddenly got wind the history of BolehLand is not what we have been taught!

Gosh we are really BolehLand as each day we have been living a lie lead by our political leaders and we are told to believe that it is the truth, huh?

By a stroke or rather a Business / First Class ticket, our history has been turned to her-story, huh?

Sometimes we do wish that the lady would stick to Birkin than embarass the whole nation! As the Malays would sigh 'Apa bikin pompan ini nak tukar sejarah sekarang?' (Why this lady need to change history now?)

The man behind Bukit Kepong

Jins Shamsuddin talks about his understanding of Bukit Kepong, Mat Indera's true colours and Umno's role in liberating the nation.

Exactly three decades ago an historical film on a violent clash between communists and police opened in Malaysian cinemas and went on to win eight awards at the Third Malaysian Film Festival.
Little did its filmmaker know that the films theme would one day be the flint that would spark a fiery debate over the true account of the nations independence.
The film was Bukit Kepong. Its producer, director and lead actor was Mohamed Zain Shamsuddin or better known as Jins Shamsuddin.
Jins played Sergeant Jamil Mohd Shah, one of the 25 who were killed on Feb 23 1950, when 180 communists attacked a police station in Bukit Kepong, near the Muar River, Johor, just before dawn.
The film is a staple for local TV stations during the run-up to Merdeka each year and is also the now prominent filmmakers best calling card.
But more than that is the film struck a deep chord in him given his intimacy with the story and its characters while making the film.
In his humble opinion, PAS deputy president, Mohamad Sabu, has committed a grave mistake in recognising Muhammad (Mat) Indera as a freedom fighter instead of the communist leader that he is.
Mat Indera was most definitely a communist, Jins, 76, emphasises. He voluntarily embraced the communist ideology and led the attack on Bukit Kepong.
It was he who sounded the trumpet to signal his platoons to either attack or retreat. The police and civilians who died in the attack were the real heroes, not him. He was not a freedom fighter.
Mat Indera didnt kill anyone
Jins pauses for a moment, then appears to mellow a little. When he speaks again his tone is distinctly gentler.
But Mat Indera didnt kill anyone, he clarifies. In fact, he secretly urged the policemens families to escape while they could. But when the British caught him they accused him of murder and sentenced him to death.
The communists used him as a bait to recruit Malays into the Malayan Communist Party (MCP). Mat Indera was a religious man so they asked him to teach the Quran and gradually persuade his students to join the party.
At this juncture, Jins eldest son, Putera Hang Jebat, who has been quietly listening at the sidelines, interrupts to ask whether his father is on the side of Mat Indera or the police.
Oh, the police of course! Jins replies instantly. What Im saying is that even though Mat Indera was a communist he also lent support to the Malays and the police because he didnt kill anyone. He never used any weapons, just the trumpet.
But this doesnt satisfy Jebat who argues that Mat Indera was equally responsible for the deaths that day as he possessed full control over the attack strategy.
He had a choice whether to blow that trumpet, Jebat points out. And he clearly knew that the purpose of the attack was to kill off the other side.
He also knew that women and children were in the police barracks and if he truly didnt want to kill anyone, he would have made sure that they got out beforehand.
Film told from polices perspective
Jins nods vigorously at his sons analysis, then admits that he downpl! ayed Mat Inderas cruelty in the film after a visit from the ex-communists family.
When the family got wind of the film, they travelled from Muar to Kuala Lumpur to find out how he planned to portray Mat Indera.
I told them that the film wouldnt cast him as a very bad person but instead one who taught Islam and who didnt shoot Malays, Jins recalls. We also had to be careful in case the family sued us for defamation. Luckily the police agreed to my suggestion to tone down Mat Inderas character.
Approval from the police was crucial as the then Inspector-General of Police, Hanif Omar, had personally dropped this project in Jins lap.
According to Jins, the police supplied all the research material on which the film was based and the final script had to secure a nod from Hanif before filming could begin.
Jins readily acknowleges that Bukit Kepong is told from the polices perspective but insists that the film is based purely on historical facts and contains no figment of imagination.
I lived in Muar for a year to interview ex-communists and villagers who lived through the Emergency, he stresses. Every part of this film is based on facts and this is why it received eight awards.
However, he also says that he adhered strictly to Hanifs recommendations and directives. Asked if any of his own research contradicted that given by the police, Jins shook his head.
Everything matched, he confirms. I had to show the police the final script and it was returned to me untouched because I used their ideas and directives as a guide. We have to accept those directives because Hanif was the IGP and he also helped raise funds for the film.
Mat Sabu should surrender
Unfortunately, it is his close ties to the police a! s well a s his Umno membership and previous senatorship that have called the films authenticity into question in the light of the controversy over the tragedy.
Mat Sabu recently claimed that Jins Umno membership meant that Bukit Kepong is a reflection of Umnos perspective and not the facts. Jins is chastened.
It is not true, Jins states. Mat Sabu is against Umno so he is looking for ways to turn others against it as well.
He should step down and surrender because he is a Malay who belongs to an Islamic party and who shouldnt be pitting one Islamic party against another. Mat Sabu should not go against Umno.
Jins shoots down Mat Sabus statement made during his catalytic ceramah in Tasek Gelugor, Penang, that Mat Indera was a freedom fighter because he fought against the British rule.
He also rejects the communists claim that they were freedom fighters and that the Malays who were working for the British were caught in the crossfire.
It was Umno led by (first premier) Tunku Abdul Rahman who fought for Malayas independence, he declares. The communists were not freedom fighters. I am completely against them because they were locals who killed their own people.
But there were many others who were neither communists nor Umno members who also fought for the nation. Among them are founder of Parti Rakyat Malaysia, Ahmad Boesteman, and founder of Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya, Dr Buharnuddin al-Helmy.
None of those names, however, are celebrated during Merdeka and Jins has a straightforward explanation for this.
None of them supported Umno at that point in time, he says. I made this film in support of the government and as a tribute to Umnos fight for our nations independence.
But Merdeka is not just about freedom. It is about the responsibility of our leaders to take us forward and further.

2 mega deals, Nazir Razak and the Umno elite's rush to cash out

Nazir Abdul Razak has been a busy man these past few months. The youngest son of the second prime minister, Tun Abdul Razak and the brother of the current Prime Minister Najib Razak, Nazir is the go-to man-of-the-hour when it comes to business deals.
Nazir may now be in the shadow of his famous dad and elder brother, but he is no slouch. No one can say is he a self-made banker as he never had to rise from the ranks, but still, his knowledge of the financial world and his management vision is envied by many top professional bankers in the country and few would begrudge his many titles and awards.
In 2006, Nazir was named one of Asias 50 most influential figures of the past decade by FinanceAsia. He was also named "Best Top Executive in Malaysia" by Asiamoney for two consecutive years, in 2009 and 2010. He had joined the corporate advisory unit of the Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad in 1999, and is currently the managing director and chief executive of CIMB Group, one of the largest financial services providers in Malaysia.
Nazirs influence on the Malaysian economic landscape cannot be ignored, whether on its own or in connection to his brother. Upon assuming the premiership, Najibs first move was to increase the service charge for credit card holders. This prompted many of his critics to accuse him of benefiting his younger brother and other banking fat cats on whom the corruption-tainted PM was seen eager to cozy up to. And it is safe to say that Nazir would surely be one of Najibs unofficial advisers when it comes to money matters in Malaysia.
MAS-AirAsia
In the past weeks, Umno blogs have been heavy with criticism over the recent share swap between MAS and Air-Asia. But it was truly an Umno family affair, with the disgruntlement only about who got more and who got less out of the deal. Even the person who brokered the swap was 'family' - it was none other than Nazir Razak.
His group acted as adviser to the highly controversial deal a month ago, when Khazanah Holdings Bhd traded of 20.5% of Malaysia Airlines shares for 10% of AirAsia and agreed to buy another 10% AirAsia Xs shares for an undetermined price. Given that AirAsia is hugely in debt while the long-established MAS has many fixed assets, it was seen as an uneven deal and MAS staff are protesting it. However, in the BN-controlled media, the process is smartly described as a collaborative agreement.
The MAS and AirAsia swap raised eyebrows because it does not make much business sense for a large Government-Linked-Company like MAS to allow smaller AirAsia to take on the lead role and lions share of the goodies. In its crudest terms, the share swap between MAS and AirAsia was a company take-over, with AirAsia assuming the commanding voice in what is in principle a national asset.
While AirAsia is also Malaysian and its chief Tony Fernandes well-thought of, such generosity from the federal government or to be precise the Finance ministry, of which Najib is in charge, is certainly questionable. Yet, Najib allowed this to happen, ignoring the fact that taxpayers have pumped in billions upon billions through the years to save the ailing MAS. Not only that, he even commanded all other GLCs to stop legal action against former chairman Tajudin Ramli, who is well-known to be a crony of ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.
As for Nazir, how much did he gain from brokering this deal? The information is obviously confidential, but it p! aved the way for the next collaborative agreement - Sime Darby acquiring a 30% stake in E&O for RM766 million.
Sime-E&O
The Sime Darby- E&O deal already reeks of impropriety when one considers the fact that E&O chairman, Azizan Abdul Rahman, is the husband of Zarinah Anwar, the head of financial industry regulator Security Commission.
Azizan also has ties to Umno-linked businessman Kalimullah Hassan, who has stakes in ECM Libra. And four months ahead of the Sime-E&O deal, ECM Libra had increased its shares to 5.35% or 41.41 million shares after mopping up an additional 3.4 million shares in May.
This has of course not gone unnoticed by the financial media. Even the Umno factions are baying for blood. Did Azizan tell Kalimullah of the impending move by Sime Darby to buy into E&O? In Umno circles, Kalimullah - the former head of the NST group - is a staunch supporter of former premier Abdullah Badawi and his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin.
Yes, Umno politics is complex. It is a huge web of deceit with flitting loyalties and the recent slew of giant deals are seen to be nothing less than the Umno elite and their cronies cashing out. And more are on the way.
As for Nazir Razak, how was he involved and what did he gain from this second deal? It was Umno blogger Big Dog who first revealed that Nazir's CIMB was also the adviser to the Sime-E&O transaction. Big Dog also happens to be among those bloggers believed to be loyal to the Mahathir faction in Umno and his tidbit was seized upon by his colleagues to highlight Nazir's role in the deal.
But frankly, as an investment banker, Nazir may only be doing what he is supposed to - which is to look out for fat-cat deals to broker. It is what he is extremely highly-paid to do by CIMB shareholders. Whether these deals were unprincipl! ed and i f CIMB should have advised or turned down such questionable transactions are different issues altogether, although if later proven, then surely they would have to pay the legal price.
Chaos as Umno does a Titanic
The point is, two huge and politically-laced deals were rushed through ahead of a looming 13th general election. This is cause for alarm bells to ring loud and clear. Taxpayers, minority shareholders and the general public must sit up and take notice and demand answers.
The Umno elite who have taken brutal advantage of the power they held through the decades to enrich themselves are cashing out. This is really the Last Grab, so to speak. And it is telling that the factions within Umno are also taking the opportunity to use these deals to take pot-shots at each other.
When the MAS-AirAsia was unveiled, the grousing came mostly from those aligned to the Badawi camp. The Tajudin connection to Daim and Mahathir and the enormous disadvantage to MAS were pointed out. Now in another deal that benefits the Badawi camp allegedly through the Kalimullah connection, bloggers on the other side are busy highlighting the shady aspects of this transaction, all in the name of being "cruel to be kind" and nation before faction!
So, Nazir may be disliked for his curt ways but he is not the real target. For the Sime-E&O, which incidentally also involves tycoons with links to Daim and Mahathir, the targets are Badawi and Najib.
Scandal-tainted Najib is already on his way out, but it does not matter if he is helped along the way with a few more body-blows and it would be perfect if his smart-alec banker brother got slapped as well. Also to ensure that Mahathir's choice gets a free path to the throne, which is the Umno presidency, all efforts must also be made to nip in the bud any pretensions from the Badawi camp to try and revive the sunken fortunes of overambitious son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin.
In the coming days, revelations of more Najib ! misdeeds and those of his clan, Badawi's family and even the Mahathir faction which includes Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will surface. Anwar and Pakatan can take a break now, their political enemies are already on auto-pilot. Like the Titanic, pirate-ship Umno is sinking. The 'warlord-ism' and infighting will get really intense in this last lap.

Malaysia - Part 1

I have the utmost respect for our first Prime Minister - Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, AC, CH (February 8, 1903 December 6, 1990) who was Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya from 1955, and the country's first Prime Minister from independence in 1957. He remained as the Prime Minister after Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore joined the federation in 1963 to form Malaysia. He is widely known simply as "Tunku" or "The Tunku" (a princely title in Malaysia) and also called Bapa Kemerdekaan (Father of Independence) or Bapa Malaysia (Father of Malaysia). You can read more about him at this link.

In the light of the recent furore over history - and what is or is not history, I thought I'd repost the following article written by Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1965. As it is a very long article, it will be published in three parts. Part 2 will be posted at 12 midnight and part 3 at 6.15a.m. tomorrow.

Malaysia: Key Area in Southeast Asia (Part 1) by Tunku Abdul Rahman

If one studies the map of Southeast Asia it is clear at once that Malaysia is the natural focus of the whole region. It is the only country that is both part of mainland Asia and at the same time part of the vast archipelago stretching westward from the Philippines and New Guinea to Sumatra. Thus Malaysia is not only a bridge between continental and island Asia but also the gateway between the China Sea and the Indian Ocean. By virtue of this position Malaysia is of vital importance to both Southeast Asia and the world. Add to this the fact that although Malaysia is a small nation of only 10,000,000 people, its economic significance is out of all proportion to its size and! populat ion. It is the world's leading producer of both natural rubber and tin. For this reason, if none other, the peace and prosperity, security and stability of Malaysia are of key concern both regionally and internationally.

To understand the evolution of Malaysia as a free nation and the spirit of national unity that inspires and guides the ideals and outlook of this country of many races, creeds and cultures, we must glance briefly at postwar history. The peoples of Malaya, Singapore and Borneo endured in common privation and suffering during the Japanese Occupation. When the war ended the nine states of mainland Malaya and Sarawak were British Protectorates; the islands of Singapore and Penang and the Malacca area were Crown Colonies; and North Borneo (as Sabah was then known) was the domain of a chartered company. Constitutional changes were inevitable, especially in view of the rising wave of liberation which began to sweep across Asia. Within three years the nine Malay states together with Penang and Malacca merged into the Federation of Malaya but still under the British rule. This was the first time in the history of the Malay peninsula that all these states had achieved a common central government. In the meantime, both Sabah and Sarawak became Crown Colonies, and Singapore began to take its first step towards internal self-government.

The Federation of Malaya Agreement was signed in February 1948 in Kuala Lumpur. Within four months the Malayan Communist Party launched an armed revolt to secure power. Communist terrorism erupted all over Malaya; the country came under a state of national Emergency, which was destined to last for another 12 years. Communist terrorism reached its climax in 1951 with the assassination of the British High Commissioner, Sir Henry Gurney. Field-Marshal Sir Gerald Templer who succeeded him managed to make considerable inroads into the Communist strength. Much, however, remained to be done, the situation being so dangerous that it seemed the Communists would b! e able t o hold out indefinitely.

With the growth of nationalism the desire for independence had already developed in Malaya to such a pitch that unless this fervor was released and expressed in terms of democracy, Communism, with its strong anticolonial overtone, would triumph and all hopes for freedom and independence would be lost.

The British Colonial Secretary, Mr. Lennox Boyd, visited Kuala Lumpur in 1955. As leader of the Alliance Party, I had talks with him and informed him that no amount of British arms would by itself ever rid Malaya of the menace of Communism. The solution could not come about by military means alone; it was essential to win the minds and hearts of the people, to satisfy their aspirations, and thus draw them away from the enticements of Communism, which uses freedom and independence as its battle cry. The people of Malaya, I said, wanted independence for their own country; if this could be achieved, they would be responsible for the fight against Communism, and they would win. Any delay in achieving independence could only benefit the Communists, as Communism thrived and flourished on colonialism.

In order to test the genuineness of the people's aspirations for independence, I said, we must have national elections on the issue; and if the Alliance Party won, immediate negotiations would be carried out with the British Government for Malaya's independence. We swept to victory, winning 51 out of 52 seats contested, and I became the Chief Minister and Minister for Home Affairs.

The first important thing I did was to arrange a talk with the Communist leader, Chin Peng, which was held on December 28, 1955, The result of that talk showed clearly that the intention of the Communists was not to liberate Malaya but to subject it completely to Communist domination. Therefore I did not hesitate to tell the people that independence could be achieved only by them and through democratic means.

It is worthy of note that from the time negotiations for independence fo! r Malaya were initiated, the support given by elements of the civilian population to the Communist terrorists rapidly began to decrease, with the result that the police and the security forces found their tasks of subduing the Communists made much easier. What had seemed to be overwhelmingly difficult for the British, the people of Malaya, inspired and encouraged by the prospect of independence, and later by its actual achievement, were able to accomplish. On July 31, 1960, the Emergency was declared over and ended. The Malayan people had now a free hand to concentrate their energies and resources on the task of nation-building.

While the Malayan people grew prosperous and happy with their nationhood, the fact could not be ignored that Communism remained the prime menace to the peace of Asia. We had successfully overcome the internal threat of Communism in Malaya, but we were only too well aware of its insidious growth in neighboring areas. I noticed particularly, with growing and grave concern, the increasing influence of Communism in the British territories of Singapore, Sabah, Brunei and Sarawak. The same pattern of Communist exploitation of anticolonial feelings that we had experienced in Malaya was taking place in those areas. I felt that time was running out, and that the Communist menace had to be swiftly met, otherwise free Malaya would once again be in danger. Therefore, in May 1961 first announced my hope that the formation of Malaysia would enable the peoples of these states to achieve the independence they desired and at the same time put an end to colonialism in their part of the world.

The announcement had electrifying results. For the next two years the prospect of Malaysia was a daily subject of debate and discussion, and during this time negotiations took place among leaders of all the states concerned and with the British. With the exception of Brunei, all the states of Malaya joined Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak in a conviction that Malaysia was their future destiny. The achieveme! nt of un ion in September 1963 was an outstanding testimony to the will and wish of the peoples of the new nation to stand united, to achieve progress and prosperity, and to resist together the Communist bid for power.

Part II

In the past two years of Malaysian independence we have maintained and upheld the practice and principles of democracy. All Malaysians have come to feel they have a part to play and a responsibility to share in the national well-being. The reasons for our success can be found in the Malaysian Constitution, in which all the fundamental freedoms-such as equality, freedom of speech and freedom of association-are protected. One typical section of the Constitution reads, "All persons are equal before the law and are entitled to the equal protection of the law." Another states, "There shall be no discrimination against citizens on the grounds only of religion, race, descent or place of birth in any law." Although Islam is the official religion of Malaysia, every Malaysian has the right to practice the creed of his own choice.

The Constitution also provides for parity among the various racial groups. It was obviously necessary in the general interest to do away with economic and educational handicaps affecting the Malays and other indigenous peoples. By common consent, scholarships and opportunities were made more readily available to the indigenous peoples, the least advanced group economically, to provide an incentive for personal achievement. They were also given easier access into government service. Our aim to establish a system of parity, not only politically but economically, would leave no one out or unable to compete in the forward march of the new Malaysia. The omissions of the past have to be rectified in the cause of future progress.

An American magazine recently stated that Malaysia was a democracy in all respects save one, meaning the "special privileges for the Malays." I must point out that although the Constitution provides for a special position for the indigenous peoples at present, it also provides for periodic review of the position when necessary. Ultimately the time will come when it will be possible by legislative action to amend the Constitution because this special position will no longer be needed.

There are still some persons, however, who wish to upset this carefully planned system of ensuring that all races have a fair share in economic progress. They are out of touch with general feeling and reveal a sorry lack of understanding of the importance of good will and coöperation in a multiracial nation. It would be foolish, however, to hasten the day of revision of these constitutional rights prematurely; to do so would defeat the whole purpose of this particular aspect of our economic planning.

Any nation which is an association of states with a federal structure has problems between the central and state governments. One has only to look at the United States or Canada or Australia to realize that even after years of federation such problems do arise. Fortunately for Malaysia, our Constitution has drawn on the experience of other federated nations, and in addition the eleven states of the former Federation of Malaya had had six successful years of working under the federal system.

The Alliance Party is in power in all the states of Malaysia except Kelantan and Singapore. The Pan-Malayan Islamic Party is in control in Kelantan, and has been since 1959. For four years they showed reluctance to coöperate with the Federal Government, but in the past year or so they have come to realize that their state was falling behind in the general march of progress. Today they are coöperating closely with the Alliance Government and the results are already becoming evident.

The state of Singapore is under the control of another opposition group, the People's Action Party, led by its Premier, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore has had no previous experience of working in a federal nation, and due to the fact of being the "New York" of Malaysia it probably feels that its position is far more important than that of the rest of Malaysia. Some of the state's leaders do not realize the great benefit Singapore is already enjoying as a result of being part of Malaysia, and are rather inclined to attribute the successes to themselves. They are quick to criticize the central government at every opportunity, principally because their own state government is run by an opposition party. This seems to arouse undue apprehension in the minds of some foreign observers, who shake their heads and talk pessimistically about the future of Malaysia. Oddly enough, some of these critics come from federal nations themselves. I myself have no doubt that as Singapore continues to make further progress in Malaysia and adapts itself more readily through experience and understanding of the coöperation necessary in a federal structure, these pangs of local pride and wishes for dominance will slowly pass away. Federation cannot work on the basis of only taking but not giving. The national interest must be the prime over-all concern. The progress of Singapore is important to Malaysia, but by the same token, the progress of Malaysia is equally vital to Singapore. I am confident that whatever little differences exist at present between the central government and the state government will work out satisfactorily.

Every developing nation has its problems, but few have tackled them more constructively than has Malaysia. Great developments have occurred in the rural sector of our economy. Industrialization is making rapid progress. New construction can be seen everywhere-roads, dams, schools, hospitals, universities, office buildings, national institutions, housing, mosques, churches and temples, and, most strikingly, new industrial estates. Development of electric power already exceeds requirements, with practical plans already being made for years ahead. New wharves are going up in the ports, new airports are being completed. Malaysia possesses one of the finest systems of telecommunications this side of Europe. In every field- industrial, commercial, agricultural, educational, social-striking progress is visible.

Malaysia has the second highest standard of living in the East, following only that of Japan. Its economy is sound and stable. Its foreign exchange and reserves total $1 billion. New investment, both local and foreign, is pouring in. Hardly a day goes by without the opening of some new factory or the announcement of some new company. The total volume of trade expands with every passing year. All these achievements are due to a healthy spirit of free enterprise and the successful working of our democracy owing to the tolerance, good will and efforts of our people of many racial origins.

However, Malaysia is not an introspective country. We have opened our doors and windows wide to observe and share in the affairs of the world. In fact, Malaysia was one of the first states in Southeast Asia to do so. Having experienced the menace of international Communism and overcome it, we are particularly sensitive to its threats elsewhere and have never hesitated to take a positive stand when necessary.

Malaya was among the first to condemn Communist China's blatant invasion of Tibet and the subjugation of that ill-fated nation. Again, when the Communist Chinese pressed on further and treacherously attacked their sympathetic neighbor, India, I was the first to condemn their aggression unreservedly, as I happened to arrive in Calcutta the day it began; and during my tour of India in that month of October 1962, I exposed the Chinese motives behind aggression. On my return to Singapore in November, I stated that in the event of a declaration of war between India and China, Malaya would give India "all-out support." Soon afterwards I launched a public campaign, the "Save Democracy Fund," which raised more than one million dollars to help India defend herself against Chinese aggression.

Malaysia has been a member of the United Nations since 1957, and in all that time a major plank of her foreign policy platform has been, and is still, unwavering support for the world body. We place great value on the spirit of the Charter and understand that acceptanc! e of it entails both duties and responsibilities. Our armed forces were among the first to reach the Congo, and their conduct there won high praise for the United Nations as well as the lasting friendship of the people of the area.

Malaysia has also made constructive efforts in regional cooperation. Although we did not participate in the Bandung Conference, as we were not then independent, we have expressed the spirit of Bandung in the conduct of our foreign policy. We are very conscious of brotherhood with the Afro- Asian nations. We feel at one with them in campaigning against colonialism, apartheid, disease, hunger and human misery. As far as apartheid is concerned, I have actively condemned this evil violation of human rights. Like our brothers in Afro-Asia we have always stressed the imperative need for a world where laws prevail against racial or religious discrimination. We also championed Algeria's right to freedom. We expressed our belief that Southern Rhodesia should be independent only when African peoples have the unrestricted right to vote and we have deplored Portuguese colonialism in both Africa and Asia.

Our special interest in economic progress and development of the region of Southeast Asia is particularly illustrated by the founding of the Association of Southeast Asia (A.S.A.) which I first projected in Manila in 1960. The founder members-the Philippines, Thailand and Malaya-established A.S.A. in 1961 to promote economic, social and cultural coperation. Indonesia was invited also but rejected A.S.A. as being a tool of American imperialism, ignoring the fact that all the work, effort, ideas and goals of A.S.A. had sprung entirely from the energies and beliefs of the three countries concerned. In declining to join, Indonesia broke the solemn undertaking given at the Bandung Conference to create an organization for intraregional economic coperation. Nevertheless, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaya went right ahead, meeting in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur and Manila in 1961, 1962 and ! 1963, la ying the groundwork for A.S.A. However, with the unfortunate decision of the Philippines to defer recognition of Malaysia after its formation in 1963, A.S.A. suffered a temporary setback. We nevertheless have strong hopes that A.S.A. will be revived, as its secretariats still survive. Our faith in A.S.A. reflects our belief that we can come to terms with the Philippines, which we have always regarded as a country that has done much for the cause of democracy in this part of the world. I feel that the present impasse between the Philippines and Malaysia can be resolved. Although we have no formal diplomatic relations at present, it is our objective to hasten the day when the friendly ties we still feel for one another can be resumed and enhanced.

Malaysia is a practical working democracy, and as such its very existence and success are a positive challenge to any further progress by Communism in Southeast Asia. The Communists consider us an obstacle to be reckoned with in their grand design to subject all Asia to their influence. Obviously Malaysia from their point of view has to be "crushed." The Communists were quick to seize the opportunity to implement this "crushing" vicariously through Indonesia, a country with which we had always felt close fraternity and whose own bid for independence earned our sympathy and support.

Unfortunately, neither President Sukarno nor the Indonesian Army, the only two forces capable of asserting themselves against the Communists, did anything effective to check the rapid expansion of Communism in Indonesia. In fact, President Sukarno seems to have encouraged the dramatic growth of Communism there, and this has been augmented by the widespread starvation, corruption and administrative incompetence, combining to create a mood of cynicism and despair. Meanwhile, the Communists champion causes which they can represent to the people as nationalist and revolutionary. Each day brings evidence of their further entrenchment, as their leaders assume leading positions ! and thei r policies are allowed free expression. We cannot ignore the fact that the Indonesian Communist Party is the third largest in the world and closely collaborates with Peking. We in Malaysia have been made well aware by actual aggression, infiltration, subversion and sabotage of the Communist determination to bring about the extinction of our country. However, with the help of our allies and the sympathy and support of nations which deplore aggression and espouse peace, we are confident of our ability to contain this threat to our existence which emanates from Indonesia.

We look northward in Asia with equal anxiety. We see the unscrupulous advantage the Communists have taken of small and weak states, most of whom have shaken off the burden of colonialism only to fall under the spell of Communism. Viet Nam, in particular, has caused us great concern, as we have watched the familiar Communist pattern being re-enacted by the Hanoi Government, using the usual methods of infiltration, subversion and open aggression against South Viet Nam, making a mockery of the Geneva Agreement of 1954. I recall that the very first foreign country I visited after becoming Prime Minister of newly independent Malaya was South Viet Nam in January 1958. I declared then that the Communist aggression taking place both in Malaya and in South Viet Nam was rightly the concern of the whole free world, and that our two countries were fighting in the front line of the battle for freedom. In 1960, I did what I could to help South Viet Nam in its struggle against Communism. All the guns and ammunition and vehicles which had become surplus to us as the result of the ending of our own emergency I had shipped to Saigon. We started our own aid program, quietly and without publicity, to train some thousands of Vietnamese in either jungle warfare or police administration; and we are continuing to do so today.

The long history of aggressive action by North Viet Nam and its intensifications of hostilities in recent months more than ju! stify th e firm stand taken by the United States. We in Malaysia fully support Washington's actions. Past experience has clearly shown that the Communists will back down whenever they are faced with determined and definite opposition. Cuba, the Berlin Blockade and the incidents in the Tongkin Gulf, each of which Malaysia completely supported at the time, are testimony to this. We cannot, however, ignore the fear felt by many nations that the war in Viet Nam may escalate into such proportions that an ultimate peaceful solution becomes impossible. We therefore welcome President Johnson's statement that the United States is ready to negotiate without any precondition. His proposal for a massive aid program to Southeast Asia clearly shows that the United States is seeking neither political nor military conquest, but desires only an honorable settlement of the Vietnamese problem.

From our own experience it is our belief, however, that the final answer in Viet Nam does not lie in either arms or economic aid but in the hearts and minds of the people. The present state of affairs in South Viet Nam is due to a lack of ideological response to an ideological challenge. Political instability in Saigon has drawn attention away from the basic principles of freedom for which South Viet Nam has been fighting. The Republic of Viet Nam must be given time to reconsolidate itself on these principles and its people must have an opportunity to understand that democracy is worth fighting and dying for. In the long run, the present military involvement by the United States can only be temporary; but it will provide that essential time. In our view it is imperative that the United States does not retire from the scene; such action would create an ideological vacuum which only the Communists would exploit.

To me the United States does not represent merely a power as such, even though she is undoubtedly the most powerful nation in the world. Rather the United States represents the living ideal of democracy. I remember that Ma! dame Pan dit, who was then President of the U.N. General Assembly, said during a visit to Singapore that what the free world most needed were thousands and thousands of people willing to preach and practice democracy with fervor and faith and when necessary to fight for it. In other words, democracy must be an ideology. It is worth noting that the Communist states never represent themselves so much as powers but as proponents of an ideology, although it is true that the current dispute between the Soviet Union and China has done much to dispel this image.

The whole history of our years of independence, leading into the creation of Malaysia, is living evidence that democracy can succeed in molding an Asian nation along lines of economic achievement and stability. It is true that we have been forced to ensure our security against Indonesia's present hostility by an alliance with such friendly nations as the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. That alliance is made of our own choice. All free nations have the sovereign right to choose their friends and to enter into any agreement which they feel may be necessary for their security. Further, our defense agreement with the United Kingdom which dates back to 1957 has enabled us to make far more rapid progress in every field of development because we have not had to spend vast sums on our armed forces. Communist-inspired propaganda from Indonesia cries out hysterically that our defense agreement represents neo-colonialism. Any nation which has suffered the threat of aggression knows that protection is a matter of necessity and that immediate help is welcome from whichever quarter it comes. We in Malaysia have always had faith in our friends; and now that our need is critical they have rallied to our side as true friends should. In spite of Indonesia's endeavors to obscure the truth with a screen of groundless accusations, Afro-Asia has come to understand that we in Malaysia have no choice but to turn to the friends we trust to help us when we are being not! only th reatened but actually invaded by a neighbor nation possessing armed forces 20 times the size of ours. To ask us to give up the British bases is tantamount to asking us to disarm in the face of a strong enemy buildup. It would be sheer folly for us to give up the bases. To do so would be to commit suicide. Needless to say, we shall welcome defense assistance from African, Asian or other countries.

It is with some satisfaction that we can say that except for one minor attack, every Indonesian assault against us has been defeated. We have seen to it that the complete record of Indonesian incursions is in the hands of the Security Council. The whole world knows that Indonesia is guilty of aggression and that Malayasia has not fired one bullet outside its borders.

Malaysia is in a unique position in many ways, belonging as it does to the brotherhood of Afro-Asian nations as well as being a member of the Commonwealth. As a mainly Muslim country we have intimate links and understanding with the Arab world. We are friends with all nations in Asia, Indonesia and the Communist countries excepted. Last but not least, we have proven that the principles of democracy have valid application to the problems that face developing countries. We cannot and do not aspire to rely on the might of arms to promote our future hopes, preferring to live in peace and friendship with all, especially our neighbors. We have not received or requested any part of the vast quantities of aid which the United States has so freely and generously given to most of the free world. We have always preferred to pay our own way, and we continue to do so. We believe that by making a success of our own democracy, relying on our own efforts, combined with the advantages of our strategic position and economic importance, we are able to exercise influence, even as a small nation, that is far-reaching and effective.

China's emergence as a powerful military force, expressing the most militant form of Communism, has made the problem of! surviva l for all the countries of Southeast Asia extremely acute. So far, pro-Peking forces are militarily active only in Viet Nam, Laos and Indonesia; but knowing the nature of Communism, we can expect further aggression to take place. In this situation we have no time for philosophical resignation, nor do we have any respect for attitudes of despair shown by some countries that it is only a matter of time before this region of Southeast Asia becomes enveloped in the embrace of Red China. Our role, we feel, is not only to dispel unwarranted pessimism but to reaffirm by our own example and policy that democracy is a better answer to the social and economic problems of this vital region than Communism can ever be.

In Russia, the most advanced nation in the Communist world, economic well- being has provoked a search for the liberties which had been lost because the leaders believed them to be incompatible with rapid development. Why should Asian nations allow themselves to be attracted to the alluring prospects of economic advancement claimed by Communists when it means the unnecessary surrender of their liberties? Asian nations can see for themselves the remarkable resurgence of Japan through the spirit of free enterprise and democracy. Even a small country like ours has been able, under the aegis of democracy, to achieve success without the sacrifices which Communism demands. By comparison, North Viet Nam and North Korea expose the myth of supposing that Communism is a guaranteed solution to the problems presented by economic immaturity.

The achievement of Asian unity is a challenge. If affairs continue to deteriorate as at present we face the specter of another world war. Europe has been the source of past world wars; I hope Asia will never have this hateful privilege. Obviously all the Asian countries cannot come together now, but those which are sincere Asians at heart can respond to proper leadership when it appears. I feel that such leadership may well be provided by Japan.

We in Malay! sia see our role as one of contributing to the stability of Southeast Asia through social and economic progress, by carrying out a policy of good will and coperation and by firmly adhering to the free world and strongly supporting the United Nations. We shall continue doing everything we can to promote the cause of democracy and the achievement of peace.

LEADERS of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) celebrated the state level Hari Raya open house this year in Sipitang today (Sunday) held at Sabah Forest Industries-SFI Motel attended by about thousand people.
Haji Amdee Sidik the Chairman organizing committee who is also the State Southern Zone Chairman and the Deputy President of SAPP highlighted that there should be no compromise where history of the nation and specifically the history of Sabah is concern. History of Sabah especially in the formation of Malaysia has captured the headlines in recent weeks.
Haji Amdee is of the opinion historical records in our archives are the best source of understanding our past better. The director of the stateDatuk Tiga Belas archive is the appropriate authority to determine history without embellishing it.
Creative history is often used to serve a greater purpose such as forging unity amongst the people of one nation. However, over-stretching creative history may deny other of their place in history and took their sensitivities for granted.
This may lead discrimination and disenfranchisement of the identity, tradition, and culture and undermine the system of values in the segments of societies. As the result, instead of forging unity, it creates cleavages amongst the people.
Understanding history is never a futile exercise or a waste of time, according to Haji Amdee Those who deny their history, deny their future and who are we to deny our children from their own future, he asked.
Haji Amdee is of the opinion that the decision to make! 1957 as the starting point of Malaysia anniversary was never agreed upon by our past leaders. If such a decision was made, then the people of Sabah must be duly informed and such decision should be made a public record.
The controversy over the Malaysia anniversary reflects the cause of divergence between the Borneo states and Malaya. Is Malaysia 48 years old or 54 years old? Malaysia did not exist in 1957 when the Federation of Malaya achieved its independence from the British yet this year we are celebrating Malaysias 54th birthday.
The government-controlled mass media blatantly claim that Malaysia is 54 years old but to the people from the Borneo states believed that Malaysia is only 48 years old. It shows Malaya is insensitive towards the feelings of the people in the Borneo states.
The problem becomes serious when such questions appear in school examinations. As the result, the people in Borneo are forcefully made to acknowledge the anniversary for the Federation of Malaya instead of Malaysia.
The written history of Malaysia has come under intense public scrutiny in recent weeks. People in Malaysia are accepting the fact that there are many distortions and discrepancies in our national history. Some feel it is time our national history need extensive reviewed or perhaps rewritten.
Realizing these, SAPP as a responsible political party from Sabah feels that our history must never be compromised; we must acknowledge the struggle and sacrifices made by our own local heroes.
As recent as during the Japanese occupation, we seldom hear references to our local heroes. The fallen heroes of Petagas, lead by Albert Kwok, Mohammed Yassin from Sipitang, Corporal Koram from Keningau, Datu Mustapha and many more are not even mentioned in our history books he says.
These are our legacies which must be protected and preserved. One particular legacy, which deserves our special attention, is o! ur very own State Anthem Sabah Tanah Airku. Many State Anthems have been changed and amended. The Sabah Tanah Airku however remain untouched an uncorrupted says Haji Amdee.
It is important for the people in Sabah to reflect on the lyrics of the State Anthem and understand the message it bears.
Haji Amdee stress, It is about what it means to be a Sabahan it is therefore critical that SAPP made the Sabah Tanah Airku as part of its struggle for the people in Sabah.
To reflect to todays scenario surely we have lost the real sense of Merdeka even to hire a small place like this we in fact struggled to get approval, initially denied to a hire a Hall because we opposition party membersand thank to SFI Motel we found this.
In Sipitang we re not allowed to hang our banners by the authority at the roundabout just after the bridge to Sipitang Town, but any one notices many UMNOs banners are hanging there. And only yesterday our party organizer who went to RELA office inquiring if we can hire RELA workers for this function only to be asked to write to Kuala Lumpur for approval, isnt this no ridiculous?

Who will trade with M'sia: Global probe on Taib a checkmate for Umno-BN?

Back in June, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commisson released a statement that Taib Mahmud, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, was under investigation and that it was gathering information on him. This came hot on the heels of the actions by the Swiss Anti-Corruption Agency, which froze Taibs assets in Switzerland. That was three months ago, and apparently, the sum total of all that the Malaysian authority has done so far.
Since then, the MACC - supposedly modeled after Hong Kong's ICAC - has remained silent on its progress into the investigation launched into the 74-year old Taib, who has been dogged by allegations of enormous corruption against the people of his state throughout his 30-year-odd tenure.
Prime Minister Najib Razak too appears to have forgotten his vow to the Sarawak people made during April state election to persuade Taib to resign his long-standing position as chief minister. The MACC comes directly under his jurisdiction and if the MACC is silent on Taib, Malaysians and the world can guess that the PM is not keen to rock the boat for the Sarawak leader.
With his immense wealth, Taib has often been accused of buying his way into keeping a stranglehold on Sarawak, a state which is crucial to Najib and his Umno-party's ambition to retain their grip on the federal government . As long as Taib stays loyal to the ruling Umno-led BN coalition, only the naive would think that Najib or Umno would stand on moral high ground and demand a full probe into him.
Illicit wealth so huge no public relations can hide

But the Federal Republic of Germany has no such qualms. It has become the latest country, after Switzerland, to announce that it is mounting corruption and money laundering investigations into Taib Mahmud. More countries are predicted to join the list as more governments start their own investigations into money laundering and even the use of international media to hide the obvious truth from an international audience.
It is worth noting the size of Taib's fabled wealth. To be able to draw the attention of so many First World governments is a testament to the brave NGOs, such as the Bruno Manser Fund and Sarawak Report, which have fought tirelessly to tell the world how this Malaysian leader sanctioned by the Umno federal government could allegedly get away with so much illicit wealth at the expense of his people. In fact, so much so that it could be tracked in the global money-laundering trade, which must surely see trillions pass through in daily traffic.
The BBC has already launched an investigation into the media relations company FBC Media that was allegedly paid by Najib and Taib to provide biased programming for consumption by global news audiences. Taib is alleged to have paid in the region of USD5 million to secure favorable programs about himself, broadcast during the period leading to and during the Sarawak state election.
His critics had churned so much negative reports about him, some of his minders feared there could be repercussion as far as his overseas investments were concerned. Not so much as to get Sarawak voters to change their minds about him. For that he had a different solution, which his critics said was the mass vote buying that helped him secure his PBB party's 35 state seats.
Deutsche rocked by implications
The Ger man government latest move would further expose Taib and his empire of businesses that stretch across the globe. These latest investigations include the huge investments into the banking operations of K & N Kenanga Holdings Bhd, where Deutsche Asia Bank and Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS), which is Taibs family company, are among the biggest shareholders.
A merger in 2001 between K & N Kenanga, then 30% owned by Deutsche Asia Bank and the controversial finance subsidiary of CMS, Sarawak Securities Sdn Bhd, gained the merged firm the status of Universal Broker from the Securities Commission, allowing it to trade equity, bonds and venture into investment banking.
Separate questions have also been raised over an unusual bond issue brokered in 2005 by Deutsche Bank AG in Labuan on behalf of the State of Sarawak. The deal raised US$800 million through a private company, SGOS Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd, described as 100% owned by the State Secretary of Sarawak. The 10-year bond is backed by the State of Sarawak.
In an email to the Bruno Manser Fund, the Germanys Finance Ministry has confirmed that it has authorised the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority,BaFin, to launch a full enquiry into the connections between Deutseche, the countrys leading financial institution, and the Taib family. The emails explanation of BaFins role leaves no doubt that the enquiry will include money laundering:
The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), which comes under the Federal Ministry of Finance, is not only responsible for bank supervision but also for the supervision of financial institutions in respect of money laundering legislation. [Finance Ministry email to BMF last week]
MACC limps behind despite home ground advantage
With the new investigation already underway by the German gove! rnment a nd also the one already launched by the Swiss Authorities, it is a surprise that the MACC is still stuck at the gathering information stage since June 2011. Especially considering that it has home ground advantage. More than the voices of Malaysians, of which Najib, Taib and Umno are now openly contemptuous enough of to ignore, is the quiet but impactful ntoice taken by the world financial community. This will confirm the shenanigans of the Umno-led government and deal a fatal blow to foreign investor confidence in Malaysia.
Is the MACC stalling for time? And in doing so, is it giving Taib and his advisers more time to think of a way out for himself? Will we now see a move by the federal government to demand a graceful exit by Taib as he promised during the Sarawak state elections? Given that Najib and Umno need Taib more than he needs them, these scenarios are unlikely to materialise.
So, what will happen is a slow death for Malaysia through a quicker path towards bankruptcy as confidence in the country's administration grinds to a halt. lt is a given and to Malaysia's deep shame that both the Umno-led federal administration and the Taib state government will ignore the actions of these foreign financial authorities and continue their 'blind, deaf and dumb' modes.
But for how long can it last. If found guilty, not just Taib but Malaysia will be put on the global blacklist of nations that actively indulge in money laundering. Who will trade with Malaysia then? Checkmate for the Umno-BN!

Guan Eng is accused of slander in remarks about a riot and a fire
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno has demanded an apology from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for allegedly slandering the party, saying it will sue him for RM30 million if he fails to do so within a week.
It accuses Lim of falsely blaming Umno for a riot in downtown George Town and on the Penang Bridge on July 1 and a fire that damaged the Penang DAP office in Jalan Talipon on Aug 18.
Penang Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman told reporters today that a lawyer would deliver a notice of demand to Lim at his office tomorrow morning, giving him until Sept 20 to apologise for his lies and slanders.
He said Umno had also asked the police to investigate Lim for criminal defamation under sections 499 and 500 of the Penal Code, which provide for a two-year jail sentence and a fine for libel or slander.
He said Umno would give the RM30 million to the poor if it won the suit. We will not channel the money to Umnos coffers.
He said the party had had enough of Lims rhetoric of hatred against Umno.
He accused the Chief Minister of continuing to blame Umno despite its denial of involvement in either the riot or the fire.
The accusation was published even in the official bulletin of the state government, he added.
Last straw
Apparently, the last straw was a tweet from Lim to Zainal Abidin.
Last week, Lim sent a tweet to me challenging us to sue, he said. It shows his arrogance.
He claimed that Umno had maintained moderation in! the fac e of Lims political jibes, slanders and tirades since 2008.
He has been condemning, criticising, blaming and undermining us for the past three years. But we have tolerated enough. There is always a breaking point to patience.
It is time to stop Lims hostile politics against Umno, Barisan Nasional and the federal government.
It is time to restore order, calm and harmony in local politics. His behaviour and slanders against us are unbecoming of a chief minister. He has brought disrepute to the highest political office in the state.
Zainal Abidin believes that Umno has a strong case against Lim. He said the party had submitted to the police printed documents as well as audio and visual proofs to facilitate their investigation.
We call on the police to carry out a thorough, free, fair and without-fear-or-favour probe, he added.

Penang's Golden Child !

Finally someone in the PR government is actually walking the talk where many could only brag and bullshit about non-events !

Of course here also now comes the frustrated critics who would say the old/former government Gerakan for 50 long years, paved the path for the current administration to implement and credit is wrongly accorded ! I'll tell Koh Tsu Koon now, before he even tries to musters a comment ...... to just shut the fcuk up !

Syabas YB Lim Guan Eng, who has that vision to bring Penang into the light of the modern world in about 3 years of taking the helm ! This younger Lim, say what your frustrated Gerakan ala BN critics, was also the first to put up bill-boards that read "You are now entering a state that says "NO TO ISA" or something to that effect and again takes this little bold step of doing away with the bloody"Bangsa" scourge that we Malaysians have to fill in in every government form right up to even when registering for Astro packages. Damn ! Shame on all these GLC's sucking-up to obsolete rulings of a former mad dictator who ran this country to the brink and to this sickening state for 22 bloody years !

This is the first form that doesn't require you to state your race. From the state's point of view, it is sufficient that you are a Malaysian citizen"........rings so sweet to the ears, and I'd dare venture Penang stays as PR-owned for good !

Only himself to blame!

Immediately after the Bersih Rally, I wrote an article the debacle of mishandling, which was posted in this blog as well as MalaysianInsider and LKSs blog. Since then, I have received many calls and sms from friends agreeing with my views.
Even the government has tacitly agreed that it has mishandled the Bersih rally. Recently, a minister in the prime Ministers department has come out and attributed the mishandling is the cause of the slide in PMs rating, and he also tacitly blamed the police for the mishandling.
Now, police is an institution under the Home Ministry. The Home minister is a member of the cabinet chaired by the PM. As far as we know, in this country, PM has tremendous say over the various ministries, since he and only he has the prerogative to appoint ministers from a pool of elected MPs, as well as senators. He is also the person who has the ultimate say in the appointment of AGs, IGPs and all the KSUs and DGs.
So the ultimately responsibility lies with the PM in whatever the police is doing. Of course , as someone who is isolated by people surrounding him, he may not get an accurate picture of the ground sentiments, and he has to make decision based on feedback by the various people, including his own team of advisers, his ministers, and the police of course.
But after the input from the various sources, he has to evaluate and decide what is best for the country. And If indeed he thinks along the line of what is best for the country, the whole approach towards Bersih would be very different.
He offered the use of a stadium, after The King came out with an advice for both sides to find an amicable solution. If only he has persisted in granting Bersih the use of a stadium in KL, the whole perception towards him would be very different.
Alas, he backtracked and flip-flopped, probably because of the pressure mounted by police and the Home Minister, but as a leader he should have taken a firm stand. He should have stood by what he has promised.
Tha! t he has fialed in exerting leadership quality in the whole Bersih rally is in fact the cause of the drop of his ratings.
It would be wise for him to study the whole life story of Winston Churchill, who was a leader in every sense, and who exerted leadership in the grimmest of times.
Instead, we have a leader who is fond of flipflopping depending on which way the wind is blowing.
In conclusion, he has only himself to blame for the drastic drop of his popular ratings.

Her handler, after 9/11, told her the CIA was not going to conduct an investigation but was really aiming simply to keep the people calm. When she began digging into the matter, she landed up in prison. Her handler, by contrast, received a $13 million payoff.

Amazing testimony of ex-CIA Asset Susan Lindauer. Five years of legal troubles, one year in prison for daring to tell the truth. During the Bush era the top controllers of the governmental mechanism of Defense and National Security wanted to have a war with Iraq. They got their wish and anyone who got in the way was dealt with severely no matter if they violated a law or not. Not brought to trial, Lindauer was jailed under the ‘Patriot Act’ which amounted to summary punishment outside a verdict in a court of law. She was jailed without a trial. This is part of her story that is just unfolding now. She has waited 10 years to tell it.

My comment: I find Susan Lindauer's personality gratingly superficial and her delivery far too glib for someone who suffered unjust punishment for attempting to do her job. She sounds more like just another author trying to promote her new book. Nevertheless, she reveals many snippets of information worth adding to the mountain of evidence already assembled, which points to the fact that the entire episode was a 4D disaster movie scripted by astral parasites through human agents for the sole purpose of further disempowering the masses and promoting centralized government as "the only way to exterminate random acts of violence."

Possible seats for MCA,MIC,PPP & Gerakan bosses to contest. and chances...

The presidents of the four BN component parties will face a general election without being elected representatives themselves, having suffered a near wipeout from the opposition Pakatan Rakyat in the watershed March 2008 polls.

Malaysiakini spoke to three political analysts - Ong Kian Ming, James Chin and Khoo Kay Peng - for their take on where the four presidents could possible contest and their chances in the next general election.

Dr Chua Soi Lek
Ong Kian Ming: Possible seats - Tanjung Malim (Perak), Tanjung Piai or Kulai (both Johor).

Chua would most possibly go for Kulai, where the Chinese form around 60 percent of the electorate. Johor is also an MCA stronghold, and where Chua has his strongest support base. Kulai would kill two birds with one stone, as a win would effectively cull support for former MCA president and rival Ong Ka Ting.

Tanjung Malim would be a viable second option, as being a semi-urban constituency with a Malay majority, it would be a safe seat, banking on Umno support. Likewise with Kulai, a win would derail support for the Ong brothers, as Ong Ka Chuan is the current MP.

James Chin: Possible seat - Labis

Chua had hinted at returning to Labis, but it is entirely up to the Prime Minister and BN chairperson Najib. Chua Tee Yong, won the seat on support for the father, and since the younger Chua is serving merely as a caretaker, the father would most likely want to go back to his old seat. However, a definite seat for Chua, as with the three other party presidents, would be difficult to predict as seat allocations would depend on last-minute mass movement of voters by the Election Commission (EC) as the election date nears.

Khoo Kay Peng: Possible seat - Labis

Labis stands to be Chua's best chance, as there is continuity with his son sitting in his place. The younger Chua would most likely move on to try his luck in Bakri. Johor is more manageable for Chua, as he has a lot of support from Umno there.

To try in Perak, Chua would need to gauge his own acceptance by BN members there, which should be calculated based on grassroots support. Perak may not be as accepting as Johor. Even if Chua does not contest Labis, Bakri would be a good test bed to try and wrest the seat back from DAP.

Dr.Koh Tsu Koon
Ong Kian Ming: Possible seats - Simpang Renggam (Johor), Segambut (Kuala Lumpur)

Koh will most likely go for Simpang Renggam, since it is the only seat currently held by Gerakan. He won't be able to contest in Penang any more, as his time there has run out. Taiping (Perak) will be impossible as current MP Nga Kor Ming from DAP will eat him alive.

Puchong (Selangor) is out of the question, as are Kuala Lumpur seats. His only option in KL/Selangor is Segambut, which is an urban area, but even then the odds are against him.

James Chin: Possible seats - none

Koh's problem is not so much where to stand in the next elections, but whether or not he can withstand the internal party coup now. If he survives, he is sure to get a seat.

Khoo Kay Peng: Possible seat - Simpang Renggam

Where Koh will contest all depends on whether he is nudged out of the party over the next couple of months. He is now at the stage of survival, as there is a grand design in place to get rid of him. He has been getting his people to lobby for him, and Johor Gerakan has asked him to contest in Simpang Renggam. His base in Penang is over.

G.Palanivel

Ong Kian Ming: Possible seats - Kapar, Kota Raja,(all Selangor)

Palanivel's situation is tricky. His seat will probably have to be in Selangor, given the fact that no top leader in MIC has a seat in Selangor. It won't be in Hulu Selangor, so he will have to come down to Subang, Kota Raja or Kapar.

Kapar is a big seat which needs a lot of resources. In general, any seat that has PKR is an easier target compared to seats that have PAS. Subang is not as easy to win because it is very much urban with more skeptical voters.

James Chin: Possible seats - none

Palanivel is popular in MIC, but not outside. His track record in Selangor is dismal. Where he could stand depends on movement of voters on the electoral rolls.

Khoo Kay Peng: Possible seats - Hulu Selangor (Selangor), Sungai Siput (Perak)

Things in Selangor are good, so most likely he would go back to his old seat in Hulu Selangor, but I am not too sure if it is wise to ask the incumbent to leave. Another place that is quite symbolic is Sungai Siput, which is long associated with the MIC power base.

However, I don't see Palanivel going beyond Selangor, which is his traditional stomping ground. BN would not want their leaders to run and hide in constituencies that are comfortable. Palanivel needs to show he is confident and take the lead.

M.Kayveas

Ong Kian Ming: Possible seats - none

I don't think he will be given a seat due to the turmoil in his party. In Perak, Umno will definitely take back Grik, and Gerakan may get Taiping. I don't see any pressure on Najib to include PPP in the mix. Not to say that Gerakan has a good chance, but there is even less chance for PPP.

James Chin: Possible seats - none

PPP keeps on borrowing seats from other parties. If they want to contest, it's a matter of finding a party that is willing to 'lend' PPP a seat.

Khoo Kay Peng: Possible seats - none

I don't think the administration sees any benefit to keep a seat for PPP. It will be very tough for Kayveas in that even if PPP is given a seat, it will probably go to a younger candidate. PPP is a sleeper party, and at the end of the day, the political arena has changed.

The KPI for Najib has to be no less than two-thirds. Any less than that and he's on the way out. They have set a precedent that is very tough, and I don't see any room for Kayveas.

Ia bukan lagi rahsia Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak sedang behadapan dengan saat-saat genting. Beliau dan pentadbiran beliau beserta parti UMNO telah terperangkap dalam penipuan- penipuan yang tidak berpenghujung. Namun begitu, mereka seolah-olah tidak mempunyai niat apa-apa untuk menghentikannya atau ia telah menjadi tabiat mereka dan mereka tidak lagi mampu mengelaknya.
“Mereka telah menjadi orang-orang yang pendusta bersiri – tiada ubatnya,” Ahli Parlimen PKR, Gopeng Lee Boon Chye; seorang doktor yang terkenal, memberitahu Malaysia Chronicle.
Insiden terbaru melibatkan Najib, yang telah dilihat keluar secara senyap-senyap dari negara ini untuk berehat sebentar di Perth Australia pada Hari Kebangsaan Malaysia , 31 Ogos yang lepas.
PM tidak membuat apa-apa pengumuman sungguhpun dari segi protokol beliau dikehendaki untuk berbuat demikian. Walaubagaimanapun, malang baginya, pesawat – jet kerajaan Malaysia telah dikesan mendarat di lapangan terbang Australia.

Apabila digesa untuk berterus terang mengenai perkara itu dan ditanya jika beliau menyalahgunakan wang rakyat untuk kemudahannya pergi bercuti peribadi; agensi berita nasional Bernama melakukan beberapa kerja PR yang mewah untuknya.
Pada hari Ahad, Bernama mendakwa Najib telah pergi ke Perth untuk menghabiskan Hari Raya bersama pelajar Malaysia di sana. Ini berlaku pada hari Sabtu, Hari Raya telah jatuh pada hari Selasa dan beliau berangkat pada hari Rabu, iaitu pada Hari Kebangsaan.
Perkara itu menjadi lebih teruk, apabila Bernama berkeras mendakwa pelajar di Perth telah menemui beliau dan mengatakan bahawa ucapan Najib ‘menjadi sumber inspirasi’ mereka.
“Sangat hebat mendengar Perdana Menteri kita berucap, dan beliau sangat mengagumkan,” Bernama melaporkan seorang pelajar Curtin, Lim Jian Min, dari Kedah berkata. “Dia menaikkan semangat kita dan memberikan jawapan yang baik kepada semua persoalan kami.”
Bernama juga memetik beberapa pelajar lain yang memuji PM. Dalam ucapannya, Najib telah menjelaskan konsep 1Malaysia yang tidak berfungsi itu lagi dan faedah kepada negara dan rakyatnya. Beliau juga berjanji bahawa akan ada beribu-ribu pekerjaan yang menunggu mereka apabila mereka pulang ke tanah air.
“1Malaysia bertujuan untuk menyatukan negara kita dan untuk membawa semua bangsa bersama-sama mencapai kemajuan dan kemakmuran. Sebahagian daripada anda mungkin mahu untuk tinggal disini selepas tamat pengajian untuk mendapatkan pengalaman bekerja di Australia. Itu tidak mengapa. Tetapi sila kembali ke Malaysia kerana kita akan memerlukan anda , “kata Najib.
Dusta lagi!
Tetapi semua usaha-usaha untuk menyelamatkan Najib sia-sia belaka.
Seorang pelajar Malaysia yang juga merupakan pegawai kerajaan yang menghadiri majlis makan malam Najib telah menafikan yang dia telah memuji ucapan Perdana Menteri. Malah, beliau mendakwa bahawa Bernama telah memutarbelitkan kata-kata nya.
Semasa dihubungi, pelajar berikut terkejut dengan laporan itu kerana pelajar tersebut sebenarnya telah membuat komen itu sebelum ucapan Najib.
“Mereka benar-benar telah mengubah dan menokok tambah apa yang kita kata kerana saya tidak pernah berkata seperti yang telah dilaporkan. Segala-galanya telah dilakukan sebelum ucapan dan bukan selepas ucapan itu. Saya rasa ia tindakan bodoh dan tidak perlu,” Malaysiakini melaporkan pelajar tersebut sebagai berkata.
“Mereka dimasukkan benda-benda yang kita tidak penah ucapkan dan mengubah kata-kata kami. Kami tidak berkata apa-apa yang buruk, jadi saya tidak nampak mengapa mereka perlu berbuat demikian.”
Apabila diminta untuk memberi komen, pemimpin-pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat hanya mampu menggelengkan kepala dan ketawa. Mereka menegaskan selepas dimalukan di pentas antarabangsa baru-baru ini apabila Najib didakwa membayar RM58 juta wang rakyat Malaysia kepada perunding FBC Media UK bagi mereke laporan palsu yang menggambarkan imej positif dirinya, pentadbirannya dan projek-projek mereka kepada penonton seluruh dunia.
Pihak berkuasa UK sedang menyiapkan siasatan terhadap FBC Media dan boleh melancarkan enkuari awam besar-besaran kerana FBC telah menjual berita palsu kepada rangkaian seperti CNN, CNBC dan juga BBC. Najib dan FBC diselar kerana cuba untuk ‘menipu’ penonton global, manakala pemimpin pembangkang Malaysia telah berjanji untuk bertanya kepada beliau di Parlimen mengenai jumlah sebenar yang dihabiskan untuk publisiti palsu tersebut.
“Ini jelas menunjukkan sebuah rejim yang berada di ambang kehancuran. Apabila anda mendengar kata-kata seperti ‘hebat’ dikaitkan dengan Najib, anda benar-benar cenderung untuk merasionalkan apa jua laporan tersebut” naib presiden PKR Tian Chua memberitahu Malaysia Chronicle.

Hipokrasi Pemimpin UMNO

Apabila terbongkarnya fakta bahawa parti Umno telah mengadakan hubungan dengan Parti Komunis Cina (CPC) dengan menandatangani perjanjian persefahaman (MoU), Perdana Menteri (PM) Datuk Seri Najib Razak tetiba membuat kenyataan bahawa “komunis sekarang tidak sama dengan komunis dahulu.”
Kata PM:
“Komunis sekarang lain, komunis dulu lain, dulu mereka ingin kuasai negara dan sebarkan ideologi yang tak beri hak kepada rakyat. Kita baik dengan negara komunis sekarang kerana mereka telah tinggalkan ideologi lama mereka.”
Jika kita mengikut logik PM, maka boleh disimpulkan bahawa komunis sekarang sudah tidak lagi menjadi pengganas, kerana itu komunis sekarang tidak lagi mendatangkan bahaya kepada negara.
Sekiranya rakyat mengikut logik PM yang bijak ini juga bermakna, mana-mana rakyat yang ingin menganut ideologi komunis sekarang tidak lagi dianggap bahaya dan bukan lagi ancaman kepada negara.
Mungkin atas logik tersebut juga rasanya, sebab utama beliau sedia berbesan dengan anak pemimpin Kazakhstan, sebuah negara berfahaman komunis dan lama di bawah jajahan Rusia.
Jika benar kenyataan Najib itu ikhlas, rakyat kini tetiba rasa hairan bilamana dalam ambang perhimpunan Bersih 2.0 baru-baru ini, mengapa pula kerajaan di bawah telunjuk beliau menahan enam pemimpin PSM dalam Akta Ordinan Darurat kerana tuduhan cuba menghidupkan fahaman komunis? Bukankah ini melanggar logik Najib sendiri?
Sebab kalau komunis sekarang tidak sama dengan komunis dahulu, kenapa pula mereka ditahan di bawah Akta Ordinan Darurat?
Seolah-olah kalau Umno yang mengadakan hubungan dengan komunis, maka komunis itu komunis baik; kalau parti lain “asalkan bukan Umno”, maka komunis itu komunis jahat.
Maka, sesiapa yang nak mengadakan MoU dengan mana- mana kumpulan parti yang dianggap komunis, kena tanya Umno dahulu kerana hanya Umno dapat membezakan mana komunis baik, mana komunis yang bahaya.
Dan kalau nak tahu sesuatu negara itu dijajah atau tidak kena tanya pula Majlis Profesor Negara (setahu kita, negara lain tak ada majlis begini) atau mantan PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Rasanya MPN dan Dr Mahathir sajalah yang tepat boleh menentukan siapa yang secara teknikalnya kena jajah, siapa negara yang naungi saja. Jajah secara zahir, di mana kekayaaan hasil bumi negara seperti bijih timah dirakus adalah tidak sah secara teknikal, maka sesiapa yang jawab sebegini dalam ujian Sejarah patut diberi markah kosong!
Bilamana MPN membuat kesimpulan bahawa negara tidak pernah dijajah, ini bermakna sesiapa yang lawan orang putih dulu, sebenarnya ia lawan orang Melayu.
Cuma kalau nak tahu orang Melayu ini bahaya ataupun tidak, ini pun kena tanya Umno dulu. Bomoh Umno akan telek dalam air pinang, dan umum untuk pengetahuan dunia adakah Melayu ini bahaya atau tidak.
Kalau Melayu itu kehijau-hijauan, maka segala daripadanya adalah bahaya dan mengancam Umno, kalau Melayu tu kebiru-biruan maka ia Melayu yang baik, maka keistimewaan diberi – segala untuknya halal, bagi orang lain akan jadi haram.
Rasanya bukan rakyat sahaja, bahkan ahli-ahli Umno turut keliru dengan permainan politik pemimpin Umno yang sendiri melondehkan hipokrit sendiri di khalayak ramai.

Kelesuan Pemerintah BN menangani isu isu semasa menghakis keyakinan

Ada seorang penyokong tegar Pakatan Rakyat yang halimunan @hamsor menghantar komen pada saya menyatakan pandangan beliau bahawa pada hemat beliau saya seolah sudah penat menulis tentang hal ehwal politik semasa terutama mengambil sikap berdiam diri dari membela BN seperti kelaziman blogger2 hardcore pro BN yang lain.

Sebenarnya ada juga sedikit kebenaran pada tanggapan 'hamsor' kerana saya sebenarnya memilih untuk menghormati Ramadhan nan lalu dengan tidak menyentuh sangat bab bab politik nasional selama bulan puasa.

Barangsiapa yang baginya Ramadhan tidak menyaksikan ia berubah sikap dan menghayati amal ibadah puasa demi Allahu Ta'ala hanya menempah tempatnya bersama sama mereka yang lagha dari menerima hasil dari ibadahnya itu bagaikan nelayan pergi menjala tetapi pukatnya bocor.

Nak menulis memberikan pendapat berdasarkan pergolakan emosi saya menyaksikan kelesuan pihak pemerintah Kerajaan BN Malaysia didalam menangani isu isu semasa tidak akan membantu menyelesaikan apa apa.

Sudah acapkali saya menulis menegur Ketua Agama Islam negara agar bersuara mengambil tindakan tegas keatas mereka yang sudah melampau didalam perkara perkara yang melibatkan kesyumulan Ad Deen kita.

Hasilnya? Tiada!

Perlukah saya membuang masa dan tenaga saya menulis, menyuarakan luahan hati saya kepada pihak yang bagaikan pekak, bisu dan buta terhadap semua ini?

Tak payah lah! Lebih baik saya menumpukan perhatian pada soal soal mencari rezeki saya dan soal profesyen saya didalam bidang akademik.

Begitu juga tidak ada gunanya menulis berterusan menegur pemerintah Kerajaan Persekutuan yang seolah sama penyakit mereka dengan Ketua Agama Islam.

Albert Einstein merumuskan bahawa adalah kerja gila melakukan sesuatu yang sama berulang ulang tetapi mengharapkan hasil yang berlainan?

Makanya saya mengambil keputusan akan menulis hanya bila perlu dan mengenai perkara perkara yang akan ada manfaat kepada diri kita sahaja.

PRU ke13 bakal menyaksikan perubahan drastik politik negara kerana rakyat seharusnya sudah boleh mempertimbangkan yang mana pemimpin cakap serupa bikin dan yang mana hanya gemar beretorik?

Mana mana pemimpin negara yang tidak berani menegakkan undang undang yang sedia ada dan cuma berani memberi amaran demi amaran yang tak mengganggu gugat mereka yang terang terangan melanggar norma norma tatasusila kehidupan kita rakyat Malaysia sekian lama ini sudah pasti akan terima natijahnya nanti angkara kegagalan mereka untuk menguatkuasakan peraturan peraturan negara.

Perjuangan saya sekian lama ini baik didalam dunia Dakwah al Islamiyyah mahupun didalam laman blog adalah demi Allah dan Islam.

Saya tidak rela diperintah oleh sesiapa yang tidak mendaulatkan Syariat Islam kerana bila meninggal dunia kelak, saya dan anda sekelian akan berhadapan para malaikat malaikat Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala dan bukan mana mana manusia pun!

إِنَّ صَلاَتِيْ وَنُسُكِيْ وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِيْ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ اْلعَالَمِيْنَ

Innas solati wanusuki ; wamah yaya wamamati lillah hi rabbil alamin!

Sinar Harian, Rahman Palil Dan Ketua Pemuda UMNO Selangor

Saya mengucap terima kasih kepada Sinar Harian atas liputan yang begitu luas yang diberikan kepada saya, khususnya dalam keluaran 12 September lalu. Saya mendapati satu muka telah dipenuhi dengan pelbagai teguran dan serangan terhadap diri saya dari ADUN Sementa YB Rahman Palil, Ungku Salleh Ungku Jamal Ketua Pemuda UMNO Selangor dan beberapa individu lain. Saya sebenarnya turut menunggu untuk wartawan Sinar Harian menghubungi untuk mendapatkan respon dari pihak saya, tetapi malangnya tiada panggilan diterima. Nampak gaya Sinar Harian berpuas hati dengan sekadar menyiarkan serangan mereka tanpa sebarang peluang untuk saya menjawab.

Begitu juga dengan berita pada Khamis 8 September apabila Dr Yusri Mohamad, Pengerusi PEMBELA telah menyatakan berita berhubung usaha ingin menjatuhkan MB Selangor adalah ‘satu pembohongan’. Mereka juga tidak bertanya akan respon saya terhadap tuduhan Dr Yusri. Jelas bagi saya sebenarnya pertemuan yang disebut oleh Dr Yusri adalah pertemuan lain yang diadakan di Masjid Negeri dan bukan pertemuan yang saya maksudkan. Maka ini telah menimbulkan persoalan lanjut, berapa pertemuan sebenarnya yang telah diadakan?

Teringat saya akan satu akhbar yang bernama ‘WATAN’ pada satu ketika dahulu. Ianya akhbar yang begitu digemari peminat politik atas sebab kritisnya tulisan-tulisan yang disiarkan dalamnya. Semua dikritik, lebih lebih lagi kerajaan Barisan Nasional. Malangnya apabila musim Pilihan Raya tiba, parti dan pemimpin pembangkang menjadi sasarannya. WATAN juga dikeluarkan oleh pihak Karangkraf sepertimana Sinar Harian.

Apa yang saya khuatir ialah akhbar Sinar Harian juga akan mengikuti jalan yang sama. Ianya semakin popular kerana memberi liputan ke atas kegiatan semua pihak dan dilihat ‘adil’. Namun adalah dikhuatiri dengan menjelangnya Pilihan Raya, beritanya kelihatan semakin berat sebelah. Maka adalah wajar untuk rakyat dan penyokong PR khususnya berwaspada supaya tidak tertipu dengan berita yang kononnya ‘adil’ itu. Apakah pisang akan berbuah untuk kali yang kedua?

Oleh yang demikian, saya akan menjawab teguran dan serangan Rahman Palil dan Ungku Salleh di sini, melalui blog saya dan jawapan ini juga akan dihantar ke Sinar Harian. Saya ingin melihat samada ianya akan disiarkan oleh pihak mereka.

ENAKMEN JAIS
Rahman Palil kata saya “degil” dan “tidak layak menjadi ahli Parlimen kerana tidak tahu baca enakmen itu”. Saya tidak faham macam mana dia boleh menjadi seorang ADUN. Tidakkah dia tahu bahawa seseorang itu dianggap tidak bersalah sehingga terbukti bersalah.

Mungkin dia tidak sedar tetapi dia telah menjatuhkan hukuman terhadap saya tanpa menunggu saya dibicarakan. Kalau ikut fahaman mereka, mungkin mahkamah tidak diperlukan, terus jatuhkan hukuman tanpa mendengar penjelasan dari saya.

Hakikatnya bagi saya, saya tidak melanggar undang-undang yang terkandung di dalam enakmen berkenaan. Enakmen itu menyebut :-

“119. (1) Mana-mana orang yang mengajar agama Islam atau perkara-perkara tentang Agama Islam tanpa tauliah yang diberikan di bawah seksyen 118 adalah melakukan suatu kesalahan dan apabila disabitkan boleh didenda tidak melebihi tiga ribu ringgit atau dipenjarakan selama tempoh tidak melebihi dua tahun atau kedua-duanya.

(2) Subseksyen (1) tidaklah terpakai bagi –

a) mana mana orang atau golongan orang yang dikecualikan oleh Majlis di bawah seksyen 121 enakmen ini; atau

b) mana mana orang yang mengajar agama Islam atau perkara-perkara tentang Agama Islam di dalam kediamannya sendiri kepada anggota keluarganya sahaja.”

Sesiapa yang pernah ke sekolah boleh membezakan bahawa saya tidak ‘mengajar’, saya hanya memberi ucapan. Kita tidak boleh memborongkan setiap ucapan yang mengandungi rujukan terhadap agama Islam sebagai ‘mengajar’. Sekiranya kita memborongkan sebegitu rupa, setiap orang yang memberi ucapan “Selamat berpuasa, semoga mencapai ketaqwaan” dan “Selamat Hari Raya, semoga bertemu Syawal dalam keadaan fitrah, bersih dari dosa sepertimana pada hari kita dilahirkan” boleh didakwa di atas kesalahan ini.

Ia adalah jelas sepertimana dalam kes Dr. Asri, enakmen ini tidak terhad penggunaannya kepada kegiatan di Masjid ataupun Surau. Dr Asri ditahan di rumah salah seorang dari anak murid beliau. Oleh itu enakmen ini boleh meliputi setiap tempat di bumi Selangor dan oleh itu tafsiran terhadap perkataan ‘mengajar’ itu perlu khusus, jelas dan tepat. Sekiranya tidak, ianya akan menghasilkan satu tafsiran yang menghalang percakapan berhubung agama Islam di mana-mana sehingga Islam menjadi sesuatu yang tidak boleh disebut oleh mana-mana pihak kecuali yang bertauliah. Mereka yang mengadakan tahlil dan doa selamat pun boleh dikenakan tindakan kerana ia merupakan sesuatu yang melibatkan “perkara-perkara tentang agama Islam”.

Islam dijadikan sesuatu yang tidak boleh disebut oleh rakyat biasa kecuali di rumah mereka dan hanya kepada anggota keluarga. Maka ummat Islam di Malaysia terpaksa menjadi bagaikan ummat Islam di Sepanyol pada zaman ‘Spanish Inquisition’, terpaksa menyembunyikan Islam mereka dan tidak bercakap mengenainya kecuali kepada keluarga mereka secara rahsia di rumah-rumah mereka.

Mungkin ini yang diinginkan UMNO/BN, tetapi ini tidak diinginkan oleh PAS dan PR.

UCAPAN DI MASJID
Saya sebenarynya pun agak hairan. Saya berucap di 3 Surau/Masjid setiap malam di Shah Alam sepanjang Ramadan tetapi tiada apa-apa tindakan yang dikenakan terhadap saya. Tetapi apabila saya berucap di Sementa, kawasan jajahan Dato Rahman Palil, saya dikenakan tindakan oleh JAIS.

Saya sedar Dato Rahman Palil adalah bekas Exco Agama kerajaan korup BN dahulu. Hubungan beliau dengan anggota penguatkuasa masih rapat dan tidak mustahil tindakan pendakwaan ‘diarahkan’ oleh beliau. Adakah ini juga merupakan talian sulit UMNO dan penguatkuasa JAIS?

Rahman Palil juga menyatakan bahawa semasa BN memerintah dahulu, ahli-ahli UMNO tidak ‘dibenarkan’ berceramah di Masjid. Hakikatnya hubungan UMNO dengan Masjid memang dari dulu lagi tidak rapat. Ada yang mengatakan UMNO, khususnya Pemuda, lebih erat hubungannya dengan karaoke dan dangdut. Saifuddin Nasution sehingga menceritakan bagaimana pemimpin Pemuda UMNO tertidur di mesin judi semasa lawatan mereka ke sebuah Pusat Perjudian di luar Negara. Itulah sebabnya perkara-perkara yang pelik sering dilakukan oleh pimpinan UMNO seperti:

a) Ucapan Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya Qurban pada 17 Zulhijjah
b) Sembahyang Solat Hajat selepas solat Asr dan Solat Subuh
c) Takbir raya pada hari raya Eidul Fitri yang ketiga.
d) Penglibatan dalam majlis memasang ‘ancak’
dan yang lain-lain.

PAS sebaliknya dari dulu lagi bergerak dengan menjalinkan hubungan yang rapat dengan pihak Masjid dan Surau. Samada PAS memerintah atau tidak, Masjid dan Surau merupakan tempat yang pimpinan PAS berlegar di sekelilingnya.

Rakyat perlu ingat. Dato Rahman Palil dahulu sebagai Exco Agama kerap mengarahkan penangkapan par ustadz dan penguncian surau seperti yang pernah berlaku di Seksyen 8, Shah Alam. Beliau menang di Sementa pada 2008 tanpa bertanding apabila calon PR tidak muncul dikhabarkan ‘dibeli’ dan bercuti di Port Dickson pada hari penamaan calon! Kita yakin ‘orang Agama’ seperti Dato Rahman Palil tidak terlibat dalam tindakan ‘merasuah calon lawan’ tetapi rakyat terus bertanya akan peristiwa ‘ketidak munculan’ calon PR dan siapa pula yang ‘membelinya’.

Sebagai pemimpin di Sementa kita yakin beliau semestinya telah mendapat sokongan rakyat tempatan dan tidak perlu menghina diri dengan terlibat dengan tindakan keji dan jelek seperti membeli calon lawan. Ianya satu tindakan terkutuk dan sekiranya seseorang ahli politik terlibat dengan amalan sedemikian, rakyat wajib menghukumnya dengan menolak tindakan sebegitu rupa.

HORMATI UNDANG-UNDANG
Ketua Pemuda UMNO Selangor Ungku Salleh Ungku Jamal pula menuduh saya sebagai seorang yang mempunyai sikap semula jadi tidak suka menghormati undang-undang. Dengar cakap beliau seolah-olah saya ini kenalan lama beliau sehingga boleh beliau menceritakan ‘sifat semula jadi’ saya. Maaf Ungku, saya tak kenal Ungku! Tetapi dari kata-kata Ungku amat jelas Ungku jenis orang yang suka menuduh tanpa adanya bukti.

Saya ingin tahu undang-undang mana yang telah saya secara semula jadi tidak hormat dan langgar? Mahkamah mana dan berapa kali dalam hayat saya telah saya didapati bersalah melanggar undang-undang ‘secara semula jadi’? Bila dan berapa tahun saya dipenjarakan atas kesalahan melanggar undang-undang?

Hakikatnya Ungku hanya sedap bercakap. Saya insyaAllah sangat menghormati undang-undang, lebih-lebih lagi undang-undang Allah dan berusaha mematuhinya. Saya tidak juga secara ‘semula jadi’ melanggar undang-undang manusia lebih-lebih lagi sekiranya ia tidak bercanggah dengan undang-undang Allah.

Berhubung ucapan saya di sebuah Surau di Sementa, saya tidak ‘mengajar’ agama Islam tanpa tauliah. Saya hanya menceritakan pengalaman saya semasa di Gaza, penyerahan sumbangan yang berjumlah RM 650,000 sebahagian kepada NGO yang diiktiraf kerajaan Palestine dan sebahagian lain kepada fakir miskin di sana. Saya juga, sempena bulan Ramadhan, menyampaikan ucapan ‘Ramadan Kareem’ bagi pihak Ismail Haniyya, Presiden Palestine sepertimana yang beliau telah berpesan kepada saya semasa kami bertemu dan saya sampaikan juga ucapan Selamat Menyambut Bulan Ramadan kepada ahli Qariah yang hadir. Sambil itu, saya mengingatkan diri saya dan juga yang hadir supaya bertindak adil sepanjang masa kerana keadilan adalah lebih rapat dengan sifat keTaqwaan.

Namun ucapan-ucapan yang seperti itu memang tidak disenangi pihak UMNO kerana mungkin bagi mereka Islam tidak ada kena mengena dengan sifat keadilan terhadap manusia lain.

KESIMPULAN
Ada yang mengatakan saya sebagai Ahli Parlimen Shah Alam tidak sepatutnya memusuhi MAIS dan JAIS. Hakikatnya, saya tidak memusuhi MAIS atau JAIS. Saya hanya menentang usaha menodai MAIS dan JAIS oleh pemimpin UMNO. Mereka ingin menghalang pemimpin PR mendampingi masyarakat Melayu. Salah satu saluran yang amat berkesan ialah Masjid dan Surau. Saluran inilah yang ingin ditutup dengan memutarbelitkan tafsiran undang-undang dan mengapi-apikan semangat anti PR di kalangan masyarakat Melayu dan Islam.

Pakatan Rakyat : Tarikh PRU-13 Mesti Ditetapkan Bersama

Pakatan Rakyat mahu terlibat sama menentukan tarikh pilihan raya umum bagi membolehkan cadangan pembentukan jawatankuasa khas parlimen (PSC) berhubung pembaharuan pilihan raya mempunyai masa mencukupi menjalankan tugas.
Ini antara lima prasyarat yang dibentangkan dan mereka mahu Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak memberi jaminan berhubung perkara itu sebelum mereka memutuskan menyertai PSC.
“Kerajaan memberi jaminan tentang pembubaran parlimen dengan kata sepakat BN dan Pakatan, seperti mana yang diamalkan di UK antara parti Konservatif dan parti Liberal Demokrat.
“Apa salah ia menjadi satu amalan, supaya nampak iltizam untuk reformasi pilihan raya,” kata Naib Presiden PAS Salahuddin Ayub (atas, berjaket).
Beliau berkata demikian dalam sidang media Pakatan di ibu pejabat PAS di Kuala Lumpur pagi ini, bersama Naib Presiden PKR Nurul Izzah Anwar dan Ketua Pemuda DAP Anthony Loke.
Salahuddin yang juga anggota parlimen Kubang Kerian berkata, Najib tidak perlu gopoh membubarkan parlimen sebelum membuat pembaharuan sistem pilihan raya.
Katanya, kerajaan juga masih mempunyai masa sehingga 8 Mac 2013 untuk membolehkan PSC mengkaji cadangan pembaharuan itu.
“Kalau (Datuk Seri) Najib ikhlas benar-benar mahukan reformasi pilihan raya, masih ada masa, tak perlu tergopoh gapah untuk bubar parlimen.
“Jawatankuasa khas parlimen diberi masa enam bulan, dengan menugaskan (mereka) memberi pandangan dan kerajaan (boleh) memenuhi cadangan mereka. Kita punyai masa,” katanya.
Nurul Izzah mahu menteri berhubung terus
Salahuddin berkata, Pakatan akan “menimbangkan untuk memberikan sokongan” berhubung perkara itu sekiranya cadangan jawatankuasa itu melibatkan pindaan perlembagaan.
“Mesti ada jaminan serius daripada Najib sebelum 3 Oktober (tarikh parlimen bersidang),” katanya.
Jaminan yang yang dminta mereka juga mengenai lapan tuntutan BERSIH 2.0 supaya perkara dalam bidang kuasa Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) dilaksanakan segera.
Menurutnya jawatankuasa khas itu perlu diberi ruang waktu dengan selesa untuk membincangkan reformasi sistem pilihan raya.
“(Hendaklah) memasukkan agenda isu pemberian kerakyatan kepada warga asing sebagai satu terma rujukan jawatankuasa itu.
“Dan kelima, cadangan jawatankuasa itu hendaklah ditunaikan oleh kerajaan. Bukan satu jawatankuasa, memberi cadangan, kemudian tak tahu cadangan itu (pergi) ke mana,” katanya.
“Kita tidak mahu, masuk atau sertai (jawatankuasa itu) dengan tidak ada satu pun jaminan yang melambangkan seriusnya kerajaan untuk mereformasikan khususnya pada pilihan raya akan datang,” katanya.
Ditanya sama ada Pakatan akan memboikot sekiranya salah satu jaminan itu tidak ditunaikan, Salahuddin berkata beliau “tidak mahu bercakap tentang boikot”.
“Kita bercakap tentang jiwa besar kita… Kita tunggu jawapan daripada perdana menteri.
“Jadi jangan rosakkan suasana harmoni dengan andaian tidak baik kepada PM. Kita bersangka baik dengan PM,” katanya.
Sehubungan itu, pihaknya akan menghantar surat kepada Najib dalam beberapa hari lagi supaya jaminan tersebut menjadi asas kepada jawatankuasa berkenaan.
Nurul Izzah pula berkata, mereka Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz berhubung terus dengan mereka bagi “melanjutkan kerjasama” berhubung perkara itu.
Ini kerana, tambahahnya, perkara itu sebelum ini hanya dapat diikuti melalui laporan media.

Haider RCI on VK Lingam Video Findings Upheld: It is against the Public Interest to allow Judicial Review

The Federal Court today unanimously ruled that a court of law cannot review the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the infamous VK Lingam video. In setting aside a Court of Appeal order, the three-member panel found that the commission’s role is merely to investigate the issue and not to come to any decision.

“But there is another more important reason. We are of the view that there is a strong policy consideration that it is against public interest to allow the findings of the commission to be challenged in our courts,” said Justice Md Raus Sharif, who read out the landmark judgment.

He pointed out that a number of commissions had been set up under the Commission of Enquiry Act 1950, with none to their knowledge that were challenged by way of a judicial review. Raus stressed that, should a judicial review be granted on the commission’s findings, it would render the work of such a body a “meaningless exercise, and also a waste of public funds”.

The whole purpose of setting up a commission is to carry out a factual investigation and to make recommendations for the betterment of the judiciary, which has suffered a severe blow in terms of public confidence, he noted.

“Obviously, it is not in the best interests of the judiciary and the nation as a whole to allow such debate and bad perceptions to continue without the public knowing the truth of the matter,” reads the judgment.

“Now that the commission has come out with its findings, it does not make any sense if such findings are allowed to be reviewed by our courts.”

The panel also rejected the argument posited by Lingam and the other two respondents that they were adversely affected by the royal commission’s findings. The judges pointed out that the findings and recommendations remain just that. They acknowledged that, by stating that there was sufficient grounds to take action against those mentioned in the video under the Sedition Act 1972 and the Penal Code, the commission had made “strong findings” that implicated the respondents.

However, the panel maintained that the commission’s findings “remain mere findings”, and do not directly affect or deprive the respondents of their legal rights.

“Thus, in … VK Lingam’s case here, despite the commission’s findings that he had committed criminal misbehaviour, his status as an advocate and solicitor is intact. The fact that he is appearing before us is a clear testimony that his legal rights have not been adversely affected.

“Similarly, for … Ahmad Fairuz Dato Sheikh Abdul Halim and …Mohd Eusoff Chin, it is not shown to us that they have been deprived of the benefits which they had been permitted to enjoy before. Clearly, the commission’s findings have not affected their legal rights and (are) therefore not amenable to judicial review.”

Commission different from tribunal

Justice Raus, in further explaining the judgment, said the panel could not agree with Lingam’s argument that the commission is similar to “any other inferior tribunal” where its decisions are always subject to judicial review.

The various tribunals set up are open to judicial review as the decisions made are “legal decisions”, unlike in the case of a RCI which “merely investigates and does not decide”, Justice Raus said.

“Its findings and recommendations are not binding on anybody, not even the government,” he added.

The Apex Court’s decision brings to a close a long-running drama surrounding the controversial video, in which the commission implicated six people for alleged fixing of judicial appointments.

Aside from Lingam, Eusoff and Ahmad Fairuz, the RCI recommended that probes be carried out on tycoon Vincent Tan, UMNO secretary-general and then Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed. Mahathir was the only one in the group who did not seek a judicial review of the commission’s findings.

DAP National Deputy Chairman and MP for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw calls on the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to look at brain drain in a wide perspective such as fair and just policies, not just Perdana Univerity.

On 13.9.2011, Dr Tan comments on the Prime Minister's hope that what he considers the world's best curriculum will stop brain drain. Presumably, he only means the medical field.

Just as other countries, Malaysia faces brain drain. Datuk Seri Najib repeatedly says that he wants to attract and retain talents in this country. This is logical. Besides laudable statements, he would need wider vision.

The university is a teaching medical school, a joint partners with Johns Hopkins University, USA, and the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland.

Indeed, there are many reasons for brain drain. In advanced countries, brain gain exceeds brain drain.

Yesterday, Najib spoke at the installation ceremony of the Perdana University, making former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad the first Chancellor. He says,"I hope the chance to study the best medical curriculum in the world will encourage more of our country's top graduates to stay at home."

John Hopkins is one of the renowned universities. Whether the curriculum at Perdana University is the best in the world. It will be assessed. Only time will tell.

Apparently, by 2014 this RM2.5 bil university will have 600-bed hospital with 1,000 students. Lets hope it will perform as expected. Will it halt brain drain?

Factors such as unfair policies, bureaucracy and lower salaries result in brain drain in various fields. While looking for effective economic policy, we wish the Prime MInister concentrate on truly fair and just policies and the efforts to grapple with bureaucracy.

Race relevant for seniors but not juniors

If CM Lim Guan Eng (why not Menteri Besar?) was sincere in introducing 'Non Race' cards for State programmes, then it would have also removed that from the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme.

DAP's playing to the public is clearer than ever, in introducing the non-race based card. Why? The younger generation has bought it hook, line and sinker.

Remember the results of the recently announced state government tender exercise?
The bulk of contracts was awarded to non-bumiputeras (proving that the State government still adheres to the NEP) which is an acceptable policy of the government. However, in playing to sentiments like these, CM Lim is bent on ensuring that those who know nothing about the intricacies of managing a country like ours is led to believe that DAP is actually going on its own 'anak Malaysia' direction.

That is far from it. DAP which panders mostly to the Chinese community has been the wily-cat, much like the Road Runner series. If DAP was sincere in displacing the NEP then why would the results prove otherwise?

This is a perfect example, of not riling up the Older folks (hence keeping the Race part in forms for senior citizens) and to sooth the younger generation (who has no inkling of how to manage a multi ethnic community like Malaysia) who seems to think that the removal of a section on an application form can meet their demands.

What DAP is doing is simple. By implying that they are doing so is simply to fish for votes from those who seem to think that citizenship is the same as race. I wonder why 2nd and 3rd generation Chinese in America and Australia still call themselves 'American born Chinese' and 'Australian born Chinese'.

Malaysia did not experience these kinds of issues before simply because back then, there were no parties who taught that they could get away with it. Today seems to be a different story. Most think that they have access to the 'truth' simply because they read it from the internet.

If indeed DAP was to practice what they are saying, then perhaps from today all of DAP's party speeches and materials be done in Malay first, after all the Malay language is the official language of the nation. It doesnt. It continues to use Mandarin as their main language of communication.

MCA is now painted as a 'racist' party who stands first for the Chinese, and that too for Malaysian chinese. Since the formation of Malaysia, MCA had contributed much. However, the younger generation is oblivious to that contribution, and thanks to those like Guan Eng.

Speaking to a senior citizen over the weekend in a heritage settlement recently, the man remarked that the younger generation of his area is disconnected with their roots. Not for the lack of trying on the part of the seniors, but for the lack of listening on the younger ones.

'They (the younger ones) seem to think that they know more than we do. Son, we eat more salt than they do rice', and perhaps that best sums up today.

Being taken in by the sweet words of those who did nothing more than rabble rouse, now it seems they understand the younger generation more.

So, for people like Mat Sabu, bringing back Chin Peng is nothing more than wlecoming back the prodigal son. For Guan Eng, by pulling apart the very fabric that pulls together the community is best to keep DAP in power in Penang. And for Anwar, to continue to sing the conspiracy song and badmouth Malaysia is best to keep himself out of jail.

Whilst Chua Soi Lek continues to plough in more effort to lead MCA, Palanivel continues to make MIC heard again, and Najib battling to keep Malaysia out of international turmoils, Malaysia's wheel keeps on turning no matter what.

So wise up and see for yourself how DAP's non-race card is actually one to keep itself in the race!

I am confused!

Telco companies announced that they are going to pass the 6% service tax to the people.

This service tax is not imposed by the telcos, but rather by the government for god knows how many years now. Those who are using fixed lines and postpaid have been paying these taxes, as well as those who subscribe to satellite TVs.

This service tax was increased from 5% to 6% during the last budget presentation..

This tax is imposed by the government, and whatever amount paid by the users goes to government coffers.

Now, the government has called a meeting and successfully asked the telcos not to pass the tax onto the users.

This implies that the government knows that the 6% service tax is a burden on the people.

If the government knows that this 6% service tax is a burden on the people, then logically the government should be the one calling off the imposition of such tax, not only on telcos, but on other services as well. A caring government would not do anything to increase the burden of the people, who is already finding it difficult to make ends meet.

So if the government knows that this is a burden and it claims to be a caring government, it should do away with the tax.

Why has the government asked the telcos to continue absorb this tax, instead of cancelling the imposition of service tax?

After all, this tax is imposed by the government and the revenue goes to the government , not to the telcos. Telcos merely collect what the government want the users to pay.

So why blame the telcos and express shock that the telcos are going to pass this tax to the users?

Who is the culprit? The one who imposes this tax, or the one just collecting from end users on behalf of the one who imposes the tax?

See, this is real confusing!
