Thinking About A Quick Weave? Well, The Answer Isn’t So Simple…

Here, the client has suffered from damage to the scalp, taken from a website describing “Quick Weave damage”

The quick weave has been with us for years, starting back in the nineties when the style referred to Black women who would glue tracks onto their scalp, mostly to thicken and/or lengthen the hair.

Here it appears the client had the adhesive soak through the cap and get on the natural hair of the client. Something you would want to avoid.

Now, we’ve advanced far into the future using more protective methods like glues, adhesives, and stocking wig caps to cover our hair.

For YOUR protection, of course…

However, these styles aren’t as “protective” as you may first believe.

1. You CAN’T wear a Quick Weave style over and over again and expect your hair to grow, especially when you have opted for a style where some of your hair is left out to cover the tracks, and to look more natural.

Here, more adhesive and products collecting onto the hair and not the protective cap that should have prevented this…

2. The SCALP is completely covered in some cases, which means that this isn’t a style that you can maintain for weeks. No, this is a style that you should keep for a week at the most.

Here, the client is wearing a style where the “leave-out” has reverted while the straight bundles make the difference look pretty stark. This is why matching better textures would be the better deal than trying to make your hair fit into the mold you’re creating for it. It’s not going to work…

Maybe two weeks if you can stand the itching. The truth is, water is death to a Quick Weave style, so you can’t wash the hair. I actually did watch a video where a woman did wash her tracks while wearing the weave, but HER hair got no love. Just her weave.

This is a style you don’t want in your hair for weeks.

If you have opted for leave out, like here in this photograph, the client’s hair and texture of the bundles is a mismatch.

Some people like the style their hair, using heat, chemicals, gels, pomades, mousse, and creme to “slay” or lay the hair flat so that it achieves a perfect blend, but this will be very difficult the kinkier, or curlier the hair texture.

If you find yourself using these methods to straighten your hair on a regular basis, you’re looking at heat damage, breakage, and you could sacrifice your length for a temporary hairstyle.

It simply isn’t worth it.

3. If you’re going to wear your hair out to cover the tracks, then you’re going to need to care for the hair that is left out. It would be much easier to choose a Perm Yaki or Italian Yaki if your hair type is ‘coily/curly’.

If your hair is straighter, then you still need to use heat protection. Try to tie the hair down at night with a light, very light touch of oil on top. It helps to lay the hair flat.

Constant use of gels, pomades, heavy cremes, and other products laden with alcohol will continue to dry the hair and it will become thin and start to break off.

I suffered from hair loss for many reasons, none tension on my scalp. Hormonal reasons, menopause, medication, disease (lupus/scarring on scalp), chemo, immunosuppressants, and decreased appetite.

All these things have causes significant shedding and breakage for me. However, growing your hair is a marathon and not a sprint.

I, too, have had the issue of ‘losing my edges’ because of a wig, but my hair was able to grow back finally.

With some time, love, and care, you’ll get back on the right track. However, it starts with making the best decisions for your hair.

Why You Should Reconsider the Side Part Sew-In…..

It’s 2026 and so many styles have come and gone….

But certain styles are here to stay…and that’s where the typical Sew in and the “ Quick Weave” enter the chat….

First, the style, when done correctly is beautiful. You’ll see the hair cascading down the face and back, perhaps with layers or not.

However, what makes the style is a DEEP side part on the side of the head, where the hair is slicked down and baby hairs styled around the edges.

You’re here so I don’t have to explain what these two styles mean or even look like. A sew in has tracks sewn onto braids or a weft whereas, the Quick Weave has tracks glued onto a cap.

They both produce the same styled ends, roughly with some reportedly stating that the Quick Weave is both quicker and flatter, going better visual results at times than the Sew-In…although results will vary based on the skill of the person styling the hair.

Now, I found representatives of the type of hairstyle that I’m talking about and I made sure to remove their faces, background, or any identifying characteristic because the topic isn’t the person, but the hairstyle at hand.

These are very popular styles today in 2026, where the stylist takes your hair, slicks the side down and adds baby hairs for a more “natural, seamless look”. Whether the style looks truly “natural” is debatable, but I started to notice a small pattern. …

The girls wearing this style constantly were showing breakage where this style is “flattened” against the side of the head.

Think about it ladies…you’re putting gel, spritz, heavy creams, and other styling products over your natural hair, and to add insult to injury, when you do it excessively, you’re just causing MAJOR breakage and damage over time.

If you Have to wear this style, then switch sides at least. However, that will just lead to damage on both sides eventually.

Constantly putting stress on that side with gels, heavy creams and pomades, applying heat, gel, sprays, and just applying tension on that side WILL eventually lead to extreme hair loss.

Again, the pictures were edited to assure that the focus stays on the style and NOT the person wearing the style.

ON a personal note, you guys I don’t understand why you go out there and bully OTHER people for what they do with THEIR hair.

I just will never understand that, especially knowing that so many of YOU reading these words have made mistakes, believed old wives tales over scientific reasoning, and did some things that were completely damaging to your hair, to act as if you’re better than some of these people when you’ve lived the same things they have…

It’s a beautiful style, yes. However, if you’re growing your hair out, it would not be the BEST style to support your goals. Maintaining your hair growth isn’t easy all the time in this changing world. However, choosing the perfect style for your lifestyle that won’t break your hair off is imperative to continue your hair growth journey.

Please reconsider doing this style on the regular if you want to achieve long and strong hair.

Still here!

Been rocking the sew ins and making it work. Having an autoimmune disease is tough, especially facing menopause and hormonal hair loss issues. But I’m hanging on in there in 2026 and this blog is still going strong.

Stay tuned for more articles as I try to get this thing going. Life isn’t easy. Daughter is getting married and my health issues are still ongoing…

Hey World....It's Me...

Just a few pictures of me now in 2025. I've been running this blog for a long time and just wanted to give a small update. I'm still here.

Currently, I grew my hair to bra strap length, before undergoing chemotherapy for lupus. I had suffered some breakage and damage due to the medications that I had to take. So, that was a big set back. All that work and my beautiful hair down my back...for NOTHING!

But back to the drawing board. I started wearing wigs but was having the same issues with breakage. So, I went back to my trusty sew in, which I do myself!

I'm starting to see great hair growth again. I have to also now take menopause into account when it comes to the health of my hair.

I do want to take better care of it, but my current health struggles make that impossible.

So, I'm doing the best that I can. For those who see this and still follow this blog or just stop by every now and then to see how I'm doing....Thank you.

Every day is going to be better than the last...I truly believe that.

WHAT YOU'RE DOING WRONG TO YOUR LACE FRONT WIGS

HERE IS SHORT LIST of everything you guys are out there doing wrong with your wigs. I see you. I see you on Amazon. I'm not here to put anyone on blast but I'm just here to tell you what you're doing wrong with these wigs. Please take this list with a grain of salt and don't come for my life. Please and thank you. LOL

1. Too many baby hairs.

Okay, this one isn't so bad, but I just wanted to say that some of ya'll are really overdoing it with the baby hairs. If you want the wig to look natural, it's actually a dead giveaway. If you saw a black girl with real long hair, you rarely see her manipulate her own real hair in that manner. So this is a giveaway to the fact that you're wearing a wig, with them being associated with baby hair now. So when you overdo it in this area, you might as well wear a sign around your neck saying that you're wearing a wig.

2. Over bleaching your wigs.

I'm not suggesting this wig is over bleached but some of you all are bleaching your wigs too many times and then complaining that your wig is "dry". Well of course it is. It's real human hair. If you did that to your hair, then it'll be dryer than a 90 year olds...well you know. Shout out to women in their 90s still doing the do and getting it in.

Don't bleach your wigs that often. You're destroying your wig. They should be able to last for a long time. When you do this, you're ensuring that by the spring, your wig will be like straw. Then you'll blame the hair company when this is what you did to it.

3. Over plucking.

This is the terrible part of over plucking a wig. When you comb and brush and style your wig often, it's going to lose hair just as you would your own, but one is determined by your body and shedding that is naturally occurring, and the other is just going to happen. It's held together by a knot. LOL what did you think? Of course, it's going to shed even more, especially if you don't seal the knots with knot sealer.

Here is the thing. When you pluck your wigs, they are just going to get thinner and thinner until the point where they look like they have bald spots. Sure they look natural, but you should pluck slowly and each time you wear it, not plucking it clean the first day you get the darn thing. When you do that, you will ensure that the wig will be bald in a month. Especially if you're inexperienced with wigs. It will be bald. i

OH yes, it will be...BALD.

13x4 Frontal or a 6X6 Closure Wig?

Which one to get?

This is a wig that has a 5X5 closure. Which means that it's has parting space that goes back five inches and 5 inches across. Meaning that it's as far as you can part without running into the tracks part of the wig.

There are wigs that are 4x4, 6x6, and even some 7x7s. The 7x7's have a LOT of space and if you don't want to shell out the money for a lace frontal wig, then closure wigs make a lot of sense.

But which one to get?

Well if you are inexperienced with wigs, you can buy a closure wig which happen to be cheaper than lace frontal wigs. There are 13X4 and 13X6, the latter being more expensive than the former.

As you can see, that these are quite different than closure wigs. So if you don't have a lot of experience with bleaching knots, you'll have to bleach all of that space up until where the combs are. If the wig is cheaply made, this could be a disaster for most consumers because the track placement is important when buying these wigs.

I'm looking at you Amazon Wigs. Where most of these companies go to sell their BS wigs for cheaper. Some of you lucked out and bought some great wigs, while others get a shedding nightmare of a mess.

If you're looking for something that will last, the closure wigs appear to be better made, cheaper, and easier if you're a beginner to lace wigs.

Because I'm getting ready to put out a post exposing some of ya'll with these lace front wigs. Cause chile.....ya'll need some extra help. Watch those how-to videos AGAIN AND AGAIN as many times as you need to get it right.

Lace fronts are not for everyone. Do people even get sew ins anymore?

With so many people jumping on the lace front game, there are a lot of mistakes being made out there and I want to write a post on what some of ya'll are doing wrong. Seriously.

The Coronavirus Guide To Your Hair

If you're anything like me, then you've got a lot of time on your hands. If you've been a long time follower of this blog, thank you. But if you happened to stumble on this blog, then welcome.

I am heartened to know that so many of you are getting into your hair and the upkeep, versus before when you would just go to a stylist and let them deal with it. There were those of you who knew that things were different.

There is so much going on with taking care of your hair, I just want you to take one thing at a time. One thing at a time.

You should know your hair type, what products your hair likes, and then develop a routine for your hair based on these things.

1. What is hair type?

Asian hair types tend to be in the 1 type. Wavy hair is in type 2. From slight waves to beach waves. Curls tend to pop up in type 3, where we deal with kinky hair in type 4. Spiral curls vs kinky curls are the difference between 3 and 4. There are those who can have different hair types all over their head. I have 4a and 4b in my hair. My daughter has 3C 4A 4B in her head.

Knowing what hair type goes a long way in determining what hair products will work for your hair. Porosity and other things go into it but we'll talk about that in another post. I dont want to complicate things here, as this is an ongoing series.

Does your hair need more moisture or protein? That's another piece we will go into more depth as things get more complicated and detailed later.

I need more moisture being a natural but some may need more protein if they have a relaxer or color.

2. Resist the urge to make major changes to your hair....

If you want to make a major change, maybe now is not the time to do it. People do things out of boredom and wind up regretting it later. If you want to change colors or do a pixie cut, you could wind up regretting it.

Make sure you've done the research on what you've decided to do and not make rash decisions. Hair grows and will always grow, but you dont want to make rash decisions. Only after you've done the research, then you can decide what's best for your hair.

3. Come up with a routine for your hair. If its dry, then use products that will combat that. Take into mind the time of year that it is.. Products that are humectants will work better in the Summer (duh) but aren't much needed in the winter. But they could work if you live in Arizona versus New York in December.

All of it matters greatly. You learn through trial and error. What product do you like better? YOu have to learn what you like and what you dislike and sometimes that is going to take time and money. Just don't go jump on every bandwagon you see out there. It's not necessary.

Some of Ya'll Should Go To Lace Front Jail For....OverPlucking

This is the problem ladies.

Some of ya'll are going to You Tube and watching these ladies who have just started wearing lacefronts a year ago, watch other videos and then create their own in the hopes that they pick up subscribers.

But I cringe....cringe daily when I watch a lot of women destroy their lace front wigs. It's really ridiculous. The picture that I started with needed to be plucked and the person did a really good job with it, but over plucking the wig.

This is a wig that's been over plucked AND over bleached. I've done this too, but I was able to fix my over bleached knots and wig with some Bigen hair color.

This one looks okay....now. But people forget, these are lacefront wigs. These wigs are constantly shedding hair as they go along.

If you're a Guru on YouTube and you can afford to overpluck your wigs because you have a million of them, you will be able to do that because you have a ton of them. However, most people dont have the money to buy wigs each week nor do we have people sending them to us like the people on YouTube.

However, as you pluck your wig, it will look awesome and realistic for the first month or so. But as time goes along, the wig will naturally lose hairs. So even if you don't over pluck, in 6 months time after washing and styling, the hair will be noticeably thinner. I actually have wigs that I bought a year ago and now they're thin like rags and I didn't even pluck them.

So what on God's earth do you think will happen to you when you over pluck the wig? Especially the hair in the front of the wig. That's important. The hairline will shift further backwards.

Some of you all have over plucked the wig and you will look like a plucked chicken. Be careful not to over pluck your wigs because the wigs will naturally lose hair. It's not like the hair growing on your head. It won't grow back. That hair has to be repaired. If you know how to do that, then there you go. But if you have to repair the wig, then why over pluck in the first place.

So, please don't do what you see these other people out here doing. Especially if you don't have the money.

Why would you do something so drastic to your wig? The hairs in the front of the head are the MOST manipulated so it's important NOT to over pluck them because people will see that and its important that you don't take out too much hair.🤩❤️. When you do that, the hair starts to disappear along those edges and before long, you can't do a damn thing with that wig. You can attempt to do repairs that requires you to buy hair in bulk on the weft or no weft, and at least use that hair and inject the strands one by one. Its a tedious process but it can be done. Would you want to do that with all your wigs, especially the ones that you have paid a lot for?

Remember looking at these people on these channels, they can afford destroying their wigs. This reminds me of the Rice Water Rinses. How everyone started doing them and destroyed their hair in the process because it made their hair pretty brittle from all those protein build up in the hair.

Please don't go out and over pluck these wigs. If you spend a lot of money that you don't have, it won't take long before these wigs begin to get more bald. With proper care, these wigs can last up to three years. SO it's important that if you don't have people throwing wigs and/or money in your face that you don't destroy your wigs. Don't over pluck them. Over time, the wigs will begin to thin on their own.

Unfair Stereotypes About Black Women who Wear Weaves

Beauty salons all over the country are filled with women who want their extensions, full wigs, and weaves sewn into their hair. But there is a difference. These women are white.

White women? OF course. But when black women do it, they HAVE to. White women do it because they WANT TO. It’s all unfair.

This article is all about the unfair criticism that black women face for wearing weaves.

1. The texture doesn’t often match.

This is one that gets on my nerve. For many years, black women wore straight hair or curly hair because...well, that’s all that they were offered for a long time. There were few companies out there the sold types that reflected black hair accurately. If they were, then they were afro wigs that clowns wore. Not exactly a style you would wear on the street to be considered sexy. You can’t buy what someone hasn’t sold you. It was only later in the late 2000s that black women were offered a wider variety of weaves. As soon as that happened, black women literally JUMPED on wearing more tightly curled hair over straight styles. Sure, women wear straight styles that are silky, but that’s the fun about wearing weave. You can wear any other styles you want to.

2. Black women wear unrealistic lengths.

Unrealistic to whom? To what? This falls into the ridiculous stereotype that black women can’t grow their hair. So since they can’t grow hair then apparently, anything longer than shoulder length is unrealistic for a black woman? That’s ridiculous. Since we happen to be human beings, then whatever white women can grow their hair to the same that we can grow our hair. It’s that simple. IF you see a black woman with long hair, then you have to realize that every woman is not wearing a weave. I get asked this question all the time....”IS that your hair?” “Is that a piece?” I got asked that in a bathroom once. I smiled and told the woman that it was my hair. She wanted to know where I bought the piece. I wanted this black woman to know that she could grow her own hair out to that length.

3. Black women are ashamed of their hair and cover it up.

This could have some truth to it, but I don’t blame black women who for centuries have been told that their hair is unprofessional and can’t be worn out. In fact, there were laws, especially in Louisiana that passed laws where black women were forced to cover their heads in society so that they would be less attractive to white men. In fact, the opposite happened. White men were attracted to the colorful scarves that black women would wear. A black woman could be whipped in public for wearing her hair out. Black women are still being told their natural hair is unprofessional and not good in a working environment. How is something that grows out of your head not professional? It’s your hair.

White women wear weaves and wigs and other things and no one blinks a damn eye.

Society has shamed black women for their hair.

White women have purchased wigs, weaves, and hair pieces. However, no matter how long their actual hair, people assume that every inch is their own. If a black woman has long hair, it is assumed always that it is a wig. This is unfair. If a white woman wears her hair in different colors, she is creative and artistic. If a black girl does it, she is ghetto and unprofessional. So are black men when they were dreadlocks or braids. They are seen as ghetto while whites get to look edgy

These things need to stop in a so called thinking and civilized society.
Women of all colors, nationalities, ethnicities, and races wear wigs and have always done so. Men have wore them too. Why black women still seem to get the short end of the stick here is a mystery to me. Many times, we are given a hard time by other black people...especially black men.

I hate to do this....but....Brothers, you need to stop!

All my adult life wearing weaves, I have heard black men make comments that they want a black woman to be natural, but when I wore my natural hair, they were less attracted to that. When I wore weaves, I had to beat them off with a stick. Why do they say one thing and yet do another? This is anecdotal evidence of course. So I’ll hit you guys with this....

Random dude says....

“I like for my lady to wear her hair straight down—no perm, all natural. I hate going through female’s hair and finding tracks and stuff. I like to see a female rocking natural hair because it shows her in her natural form, natural beauty.”

AND ANOTHER....

“I like for my woman to wear her hair up so I can see her neck. I do have a funny story: I put my hand through this woman’s hair that I was dating, and I guess they put glue to hold it together or something and my watch got stuck. She started yelling, ‘Wait, hold on, don’t touch my hair!’”

YET ANOTHER....

“I mostly like relaxed hair. I’m not into the whole nappy thing. I think it’s a cool look but I just like the clean look of relaxed hair. It’s a preference.”

UH-HUH, AND?

“I think long hair is a good look for taller women but shorter women with a small face look nice with short hair. I don’t like that nappy, nappy hair all the time. If she likes long hair, I like it. But if she has short hair and it doesn’t fit her then we might break up.”

AND WHAT YOU GOT TO SAY?

“Honestly, I like a permed hair but it has to be yours. I want to be able to stroke my hand through my girl’s hair without any stops. I want to be able to go from the top without catching any speed bumps or a little derailed track, you know.”

Yeah. I’m starting to think that these men don’t know what the hell they want. Because honestly, if you look good then these men are still going to talk to you anyway. Regardless of your hair...well as long as it’s neat, clean, and looks good. They’ll holler at you. What we don’t talk about enough in our community is a little thing called featurism. Which is...

In other context, society accepting or preferring certain features over others (i.e. European features over African features).

Yeah, that’s important. Black men and featurism is a big thing. They will want to see certain features on black women and prefer them over others. That’s a problem. Again, black men will talk to you if you look good, but they have preferences that they like over and over again, without really examining why. We’ll talk about this in a future post.

These stereotypes are simply unfair for black women to have to deal with in and out of our communities. I wish that people of all races look deeper still to see that things and people are more complex than what you think they are.

Featurism: Black Hair Edition

Which features do black men find attractive? Which features are preferred over others? We won’t get into discussing the size of black noses, or eye color. But we will talk about the different features that black men find attractive in black women, which tends to be very conflicting for other black women who are looking to attract black men.

A black woman with this texture would not be seen as desirable as the picture on top. This article is about featurism when it comes to hair.

We know that long hair attracts men of all races. This is definitely a feature that draws men in. But when it comes to black women, due to our hair type, this could be subjective. In the black community...

This could be considered to be long hair in our community, but this is shoulder length. To others, this is short to medium long.

A black woman with this length would definitely catch attention in the black community. She would be accused of wearing weaves often though.

What is Featurism?

In other context, society accepting or preferring certain features over others (i.e. European features over African features).

In other words, this is like colorism and goes hand in hand with it. We tend to favor some features over others.

Take Rozonda Chili Thomas here. She was always seen by black men and others are more desirable because of her curly hair and “baby hairs”. She is considered widely as a woman who black men have desired.

This article won’t get into lighter skin or lighter eyes and skinnier noses. Features that look decidedly European than African.

This girl will get much more attention from men than a woman with a much tighter curl pattern. This is considered more desirable.

Why?

If it wasn’t this way, then perms would not have been so popular for nearly over a century. Black women wanted straighter hair so they could get a job and a man. Black naps were looked down on, but I believe black people have been hard on each other for having nappy hair, hair that has grown out of their own scalps.

I would stare in awe at people who would stare at people with nappy hair and wonder how they would make fun of other black women or people for hair that grew out of their own scalp?

Unreal.

This is a beautiful model and a beautiful photograph, but she has “features” that many would find undesirable. From the texture of her hair, to her lips and her nose, we can’t fully talk about colorism without talking about featurism, which goes hand in hand. This is important. Why do black people find European features preferable and then hide behind the word, “preferences”.

Sure, we all have preferences but at one point you should ask yourself, if you have a big nose and big lips, why do you find others with those same features not attractive to the point where you actively seek out others who look different than you do?

If you’ve done the soul searching you should do, and still find something unattractive about people who look like you do, then perhaps you just don’t get it. Or maybe you are attractive to people who look a certain way. We all have preferences. There is nothing wrong with that. I believe that hiding behind presences is a cop out at times.

Be attracted to who you want to be attracted to. But my point is that you shouldn’t count out all the others who look just like you an don’t discriminate against people who look like you do when you look into the mirror. If you do these things, then perhaps you are influenced by Eurocentric features.

Hair Growth Pics for 2020!

I started this blog back in 2007 and I’m so proud of the accomplishments that I’ve made. However, if I got and retained the growth that I made, I’d be floor length by now. Alas, that is not the case. I am not floor length. I am, about BSB which is a great accomplishment in itself. My hair is longer than it has ever been in my life.

Right now, I enjoyed wearing my hair for a good stretch of time and enjoyed wearing different styles. But I want it to be longer.

I am not experimenting with a new regimen and I will keep you guys updated on my progress....so here we go. Hair growth regimen for me!

Hair Growth Regimen for 2020

Shampoo and Conditioner-- I am using a clarifying shampoo that’s pretty cheap for 99 cents from Suave. Then I’m using Silicon Mix Shampoo and Conditioner. Once a month, I use the Protein Shampoo along with a Silicon Mix conditioner. I try and deep condition my hair once or twice a month.

Protective Styling--I wear full wigs with a rare half wig. I wash and condition my braids as often as I can. I am disabled and am in a wheelchair so I’m often not able to do everything I usually do with crippling arthritis. Because of this, I have to be careful and not able to do much of everything I want to do.

Hair Growth Aides-- I am using a mix of Vapo Rub (Lavender) and Monistat 4%. Okay here’s my Vapored Rub story. I have discoid lesions on my scalp. When I had a lesion, I was desperate. I had the Rub in front of me for some reason and put some on there because the lesions were so ugly and I wanted to cover it with something. The next day, i couldn’t find the lesions. Then I remembered. I used VapoRub. I put some more on my other lesions, and they too disappeared. I was elated. I did research. With the lavender ingredient, it creates a condition on the scalp that prevents dandruff, soothes an itchy scalp, and can increase circulation to the scalp. All things that can encourage hair growth. It does work. So I have used Monistat in the past to get a few more inches. So I thought by mixing the concoction, that I could help the scalp condition that I have with discoid lesions as well as improve circulation for the Monistat to work.

That Time of Year: LaceFront Wigs and the Women Who Over Pluck Them

It's that time of year again friends! It's the holidays and this is the time of year that we will all go into debt to buy things for people who really don't appreciate it in the first place. Half of you are reading this piece and thinking of your kids. And the other half are thinking of their friends who have kids.

Anyway....

So, as an avid fan of wigs and weaves, I'm constantly on the lookout for new things to purchase. Is there a new hair that I haven't tried? Is there a new brand that I need to know about? But another disturbing trend popped up and some of you can attest to this one is the.....

OVERTWEEZING AND PLUCKING YOUR WIGS

This is a regular fiasco! Why would so many of you spend your hard earned cash on your wigs just to pluck them and over tweeze them to your satisfaction?

Man....put down those tweezers!

I understand that you want your wigs to be right, but remember this hair is not growing out of your head. So when you tweeze it, it won't come. Forgive the silly movie puns but it's true. As you no doubt style your wig perhaps daily, and brush it, you're losing hair. Now normal shedding is always to be expected from your hair or a wig. But when you tweeze your wig, it won't be back. You're going to shed hair from the wigs, but when you are tweezing your wigs, you're taking the hair out of the wig purposefully. Which will start to alter the look. Now you're rolling your eyes right now and saying, "Duh, that's exactly what I want to do! Alter the way it looks!"

Yeah. But you want to be able to wear this wig in another three months. Not throw it away because the part you put in the wig is as wide as the Suez Canal. The wig is constantly shedding. You're constantly plucking.

In the end, that wig is going to be balder than Mr. Clean. Hundreds of dollars going down the drain.

You don't need to over tweeze your wigs to make them look natural. If they aren't looking natural enough to you, and you have the need to tweeze them, then you should go DOWN in density.

Does it make ANY SENSE to you that you'll go out and buy a wig of 200 density and then tweeze the darn thing to 80 percent density?

That I don't understand.

The internet is full of examples of young ladies with nice looking installs and wigs. They look more and more realistic by the day and yet, the parts some of you are plucking don't look normal any longer. They are starting to look like large bald spots. For some of you, that's exactly what you're creating.

THIS PARTICULAR wig is not over tweeze but many women watch YouTube tutorials and because many gurus tweeze their brows, then many young, inexperienced ladies feel as if they have to do these things for their wigs to look good and this simply isn't true. Not all wigs need this. I'm not saying you can't ever tweeze or pluck. That would be insanity. But I'm saying that those wigs cost a lot of money and you must be careful with what you do with it.

Some people, like myself, have a thing about tweezing or even pulling out hair so tweezing a wig can even be triggering. Yeah, I said it. I know this because I have this condition. It's the first time I've admitted to it.

But these mile wide parts are not going to do you any good in the long run because remember, you're picking and plucking while the wig is plucking itself, doing the job of shedding that all wigs do.

Do yourself a favor. When you buy a wig, figure out the details at this time. Know the density you want and the texture and all of those things, then make the purchase. Try not to alter the wig too much because it could cause irreparable damage that would be costly to repair.

So when you go and buy those wigs this year or even receive them as gifts, remember to just wait a moment and think about it before you do something much too drastic.

Is Your Hair Damaged But You Don’t Like Protein? Try Cholesterol! Remember?

Should You Start Your Own Hair Extension Company? Part One

Welcome to the world of hair extensions. You’ve probably started wearing extensions and now you’re thinking about selling them yourself.

Should you get into this lucrative, yet fleeting business of selling hair weave online?

Stick with me for a moment as I expose this dark side of the business....and you can make this decision for yourself.

Selling hair extensions doesn’t require a lot of overhead. If you want to do this, I suggest you take some business classes first, so that you can get acquainted with the terms and how business is done. Don’t get into something that you know very little about. You don’t want to open yourself up to lawsuits because you promised things you couldn’t deliver. If you know a bit about Contract and Tort Law, that helps too because you’ll enter in many buyers agreements, contracts, sales and other issues that will come up. If you don’t have a clue what any of that is, then turn your computer off and learn them. Know the basics, please.

Know what it takes to do business in your state and learn about taxes. Are you going to have more employees? Then you’ll be paying taxes. Going to have more than ten employees? In some states, you will have to contribute to the Unemployment tax. If you don’t know the laws in your state, you just can’t claim ignorance of the law. This won’t work. You don’t want to pay your state heavy fines, and in some cases, even go to jail because you didn’t take the time to learn these things.

In order to sell hair, you will need a good vendor that you will develop a good relationship with. Depending on how profitable your business is, you will need this vendor to deliver a certain amount o f hair extensions a month to keep up with your demand.

In this game, word of mouth is your friend. Youtube “Gurus” are all the rave and can happily sell your product for you. Think about sending them free extensions in exchange for a review. This is also a contractual relationship, so make sure you know what you’re stipulating in writing. Also make sure that they are making this review contingent on the truth, rather them lying just to get free hair. There are those out there willing to say good things for free hair, but if you’re exposed that same word of mouth that put thousands in your pocket will now desert you so fast, your head will spin.

People will write negative stories about you and even do negative YouTube reviews saying that you’re not honest. You don’t want to be a fraud. Because it’s not right AND you could be breaking the law in your municipality or state.

So you’ve found the perfect vendor (s) and you’re ready to sell.

GREAT!

Now you need a website to sell. You need marketing vehicles and a gimmick to get more to buy from you. You will need the best extensions at a good price and the orders will come flying in like you wouldn’t believe.

DRAWBACKS.

This is the truth.

Asians run this beauty market which is a billion dollar business. They have cornered the market and you will need to break through this to be able to sell. Those who own beauty supply stores know what I’m talking about. Many times, buyers have told stories of racism within the Asian community and how they mark up prices for those “outside their community”, while keeping the prices low for Asian buyers.

This is why you see so many Asian owned beauty supplies in black neighborhoods. Some of the Asian wholesalers have been accused of selling their products at a higher cost to those outside of their community. So, it’s hard for black people to sell these products to their own people. It’s not fair but that’s the game that you must play if you want to sell these products.

Since they own the market, you will simply have to be smart about what you’re doing. Im not saying that they are all racist. Not at all. I’m saying that there is already an uphill battle to fight with many of these vendors. These accusations have been flying between our communities for decades. Once you get past all that, your work isn’t done. You will continue to have to maintain good relationships with these vendors. They need a good working relationship with us also. Especially if they want to make money.

Of course they do. It’s symbiotic really.

Once you find these vendors, and your marketing plan together, now you’re ready to sit back and wait for the orders so that you can fill them.

The problem? The more demand for the product, the prices will go up. When the prices go up for you, you will then pass that adjustment onto your customer. This is where many people start to see them paying more for the same hair extensions. Make sure you price them accordingly. Be competitive but leave yourself room to make some profit. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself working for free.

Also, the more orders that come in, the vendors will have a harder time to fill them. Quality often GOES DOWN. You need to be able to stay on top of this, but remember, others are trying to find the perfect vendor of a lifetime too.

If your vendor runs out of hair and /or stops providing quality hair, your business is stuck now. You no longer have a vendor and you have orders piling up.
This is where your business education should come in to help you on your feet. Or know when you’re done.

Companies lie Lanik’s Hair had a good product, but they never had hair to stay in business. Just recently, HairAddictOnline is about to go out of business. It’s a tricky business and you may need to do a few things to stay on top, if you ever make it there.

There are some alternatives. If you’re not ready to do all this legwork yourself, you can just sell extensions for another company.

Mayvenn Hair extensions has “private contractors” so to speak and you purchase hair extensions from them, and resell them. This is sort of like being the “Avon Lady of Hair Weave.” This could be a great alternative if you’re willing to still sell hair but not willing to find vendors and all that.

Hair Addict is Going Away!

Hair Addict Online has come out recently, sending an email to their long time customers informing people of their “demise”. The company is now going out of business. For years, they’ve offered quality hair extensions for a moderate price. I’ve personally purchased hair extensions from them and was always pleasantly surprised by the quality and the very personal customer service.

The owner states that she’s willing to give out her vendor list to those who may be interested in the ever fleeting business of hair weaving extensions. Hopefully other black women will get in the game and do more to open up thriving businesses, with great customer service.

I’d have to say that Hair Addict stands apart from other vendors because of the very personal customer service. I’ve experienced it first hand. I was always in love with the selection. My only gripes was that most of the hair was not able to be stocked as often, with some of the more popular selections.

However, all good things must come to an end and we wish Hair Addict well. For all you hair addicts out there, I guess you’ll just have to find vendors on your own.

I was watching YouTube videos this weekend, while sick, and I noticed one young lady stated that she was doing the rice water treatments and she learned that her hair began being crunchy and acting up. When she realized that it was probably the rice water treatments, she decided to stop immediately. Now her hair is going back to normal. What did she do wrong?

Protein treaments are needed for your hair regardless if you are natural or relaxed, however, women with chemicals in their hair, even if your hair is color treated, you need more protein than ever. You need protein moreso than moisture.

Be clear! All hair needs some type of protein AND moisture regimen for their hair. It doesn't matter who you are. What does matter is HOW MUCH? You should know your hair to come up with a regimen just for you.

If you are natural, your hair will crave more moisture. If you are relaxed, your hair will need more protein. Regardless of what you are, you will need BOTH AT SOME POINT.

Doing a rice water treatment, even once a week, may be too much for your hair so be careful before jumping on these fads you see on the internet.

Is your hair growing? Of course it is. But your hair may be breaking off faster than it is growing, which is why you don't see hair growth. Protein treatments can stop this dead in its tracks and it may appear that your hair is growing faster due to the change in your regimen. This is false. You are just starting to retain what you used to break off.

Please experiment to see what your hair likes but a protein treatment nearly every day could be disastrous for your hair. Disastrous. Too much protein can cause the hair to be overly pourous and will snap off, therefore suffering more breakage.

Too much moisture, will cause the hair strands to stretch and then snap due to it being to "moist" and it will just snap in half, getting rid of your progress. The hair becomes too "mushy". That's not good either. You need to decide what your hair likes based on what it does. Every woman is different. I can do protein treatments once or even twice a week and my hair will be fine. However, my hair reacts very differently to too much moisture and will get too moist. That's bad. Sometimes, some hair products will sit "on top of the hair" and not penetrate the follicle. This is something you need to pay attention to and stop with the over use of products. When this happens, you need to use a clarifying shampoo STAT!

Love your hair but don't go jumping on every band wagon you see just because you want long hair. Healthy hair will translate into healthy long hair.

Nail Shop Brawl: Asians vs. Black People

If you live in a Black neighborhood, you probably have a lot of businesses that are owned by immigrants, mostly Asian immigrants. If you live in these neighborhoods, then you know just how some of them are and how you can be treated when you step into one of these establishments. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Chinese restaurant, laundry, beauty supply, salon, or a nail shop, you know what it’s like.

Where many of these immigrants are hard working and non racist, some of them are hardworking at racism. Some of them have brought into the lies of White supremacy when they step onto the shores of America and treat us like animals.

I’m sure you’ve seen fellow African Americans act ignorant AF when they step into a salon. They cuss people out, treat Asians like subhumans, etc., however the opposite is true as well. Many of them are taught to treat us a certain way too.

It is FACT that many Black people are not given loans to start new businesses in our communities. We have a problem with capital. Banks aren’t just willing to give money to businesses in our communities that need to be heavily insured due to crime rates. But crime rates are high because of low development in our communities. It’s a silly cycle of poverty that has fueled many deaths.

Let’s go back. I don’t want this to be long but this needs to be said.

White Flight

Let’s face it. Integration was a complete and utter failure. This sparked White Flight like you wouldn’t believe. White people didn’t do this alone. This was fueled heavily by real estate brokers. They began sending pamphlets to White people to sell their homes "Why it still had value". That they would still get a good price if they left today. This led Whites to leave their neighborhoods for other places, and turning all White communities to ALL black communities. Some, literally overnight! Then they turned some of these homes into apartments and got double the money for one or two dwellings.

When this happened, they took the tax base with them. Blacks were redlined in certain communities, forcing them to live in certain areas, refusing to give them home loans for any other areas. So when you have very few people paying taxes, the local government has very few ways to collect revenue. So where does that leave black people? With no resources. Those taxes collected are now are’t being collected as much. So schools, services, and everything are on the chopping block. So streets crumble. Garbage isn’t picked up. Crime increases. Police become aggressive. They aggressively enforce invisible color lines, making sure Blacks don’t cross the line and this has continued well into the present day.

Immigrant Groups and Funding

Some immigrants are able to secure loans and they take advantage of the cheap real estate in the Black neighborhoods. This part is understandable. Many times, they do have means to come to the United States. They are able to come to the United States because they have assets and cash to enter the country, so they are already beginning with a head start. This is a distinct advantage over African Americans already in the neighborhood. They have cash on hand which is a good thing when starting a business anywhere.

Other immigrant groups have investment groups or circles where they all put their money together to help each other. These groups allow for immigrants coming into this country with less, to borrow money from the group to advance their goals with a laundry, restaurant, or nail shop. They pay back the loan with interest, securing more money for these groups. Another distinct advantage of Native Black Americans.

Some Buy Into White Supremacist Ideals

I’ve heard from many immigrants of all races that they believed that Black Americans were "lazy" and "always complaining". Some of these words came from African and Haitian immigrants who came to this country ignorant of what it is like to live as a Black American. They believed too in the lies of White Supremacy that Blacks want things handed to them. Now, as some of them come and see that this is not true, some still hold onto these attitudes about Black Americans. This leads them to act with preconceived notions of Black Americans before they even meet one.

1. Be suspicious of them.

2. They are all thieves. Even their children.

3. They are uneducated and poor, not worthy of much.

4. They are not trustworthy and are liars.

5. You must treat them firmly.

Some of these immigrants believe that Black Americans deserve the terrible treatment that we get from the police because its keeping us in our place. Sure, there are some terribly ignorant Black people in some of these neighborhoods. However, it has nothing to do with race. It has to do with economics. Poor Whites in the Appalachian mountains are found to act in the exact same way at times.

So what should we do?

I believe that a possible economic boycott may be needed. Even though Asians are considered POC, we have to show them that we won’t be treated like this while our dollars are taken and we are taken advantage of. There are a few videos, one recently of a woman being chased outside because her small four year old child took a little keychain. He hit her in the face and drew blood as he casually strolled back in the beauty supply.

And we’re supposed to deal with this? I don’t think so.

My Hair Growth for 2018

My hair growth

Okay, so this is the length of my hair recently. Looks like I’m....

WOW. Kind of an accomplishment. I’m happy about it but I have some ways to go. My hair is still not the same length all over the place so I want to work on that. I have been using growth aides to get it where I’d like it to be and I will need some serious protein treaments.

What did I do?

It’s simple really.

Here are the things you shouldn’t do to achieve hair growth...

1. Become a Product Junkie

This doesn’t work. You just wind up spending more money on products that you honestly didn’t need. Your hair is going to grow regardless. Sure, it’s always fun to buy the new thing that everyone on Youtube and the blogs are buying and using. However, my closet is full of failed products that I don’t even think about. It just sits there and never gets used. This isn’t really hair advice. This is financial advice. Just don’t do this. Find what your hair likes and stick with that. Really. Stick with that.

2. FORGET your moisture and protein regimen!

When I got sick, I just let my hair do it’s thing. I lost a lot of my length because this broke off badly because I didn’t do anything to it. I should be a hip length right now with this hair journey lasting a damn decade. I don’t care what you have to do. I’m in a wheelchair and have lupus. I don’t forget to do my moisture and protein regimen.

3. Keep Your Hands In Your Hair

As it starts to grow, you’ll get this hankering to run your fingers through it. Don’t do this. You could cause undue breakage and it isn’t worth it. I keep my hands in my hair and this isn’t good. Stop yourself from touching your hair all the time. Put gloves on. Chew gum. Something.

4. Keep Timelines

If you want to get frustrated, keep your hair on a growth timeline. When you don’t make your goal, then you’ll find yourself getting upset. When you get upset then you may go do something drastic like color it, put chemicals in it, or more chemicals, or even chop it all off. When something doesn’t happen by the designated time, you’ll get antsy. Don’t do this. Just let your hair do it’s thing. I promise you, it will. I used to be the girl that believed that I needed to be at least 20% Cherokee and French to have long hair and this is simply not the truth. BLACK HAIR DOES GROW JUST LIKE ANY OTHER RACE. Keep at it and you’ll get results.

Here’s what we know....

Custom units take 3-4 weeks.
Ready to purchase units are shipped out within 1-2 days.
A variety of different hair is used to make the units. I saw some listed as “Peruvian”, which of course is not verifiable because most hair is actually just Indian hair.
The wigs are expensive.

This wig sells for $650. It’s a beautiful wig. These wigs come in many different colors and lengths, but what we noticed is that these wigs are for ladies that love heavy density. Love density over 200%? These wigs are for you!

The price point will be an issue, but man oh man are they pretty! I’d love to get my hands on one of these nicely crafted units.

There is also a section where you can upload a picture of a wig and they will duplicate the look for you.

The Rhonda White collection is expensive but if you’re looking for a wig that is exactly what is advertised? Then go with this company.

I’m tired of going to Chinese vendors and they steal pictures all the time. You never get the wig in the picture. This company does all the tweaking for you. They do all the work for you. All you have to do is put the damn thing on your head and shine.

Sins Women Commit Wearing Lace Wigs and the Women That Wear Them

Lace wigs are a nice way to look good and protect your hair underneath. I believe that they are the best option for women that don’t want to look of a plain wig but would like to spend a bit more money for the extra step to look more natural.

However, there are pet peeves that irk me when I see women who wear these wigs and don’t take the time to see what they are all about or how to wear them correctly.

Here they are....have you committed one of these sins?

1. application - This is so important. You have to apply the wig correctly first. This is a hard issue because even the best lace front applications have had some bad ones.

Sometimes you use too much glue. Other times you don’t use enough so your wig is flapping in the wig. Sometimes you use so much that you get that white residue that is on the wig. It looks ridiculous sometimes. Don’t be that woman with the crusty rusty wig on her head. I saw a woman outside like that once and I’ll never forget how ridiculous she looked. You don’t want to have a black mark on your record.

2. Your Wig Won’t Look Like This Out The Bag

Why do you think the wig will look like this? These knots have been bleached to the point where they look a little orange. Unless you have ordered a silk top wig, your wig won’t look like this.

However, when you purchase your wig, if you know what you’re doing, you can make your wig look like this. Make sure you buy a wig with a lot of parting space in the front (at least 6 inches) or you need to buy a full lace wig and the lightly bleach the knots here.

3. How To Measure Your Lace Wig

You can not buy a 14 inch curly wig and expect that wig to hang down past your shoulders. Not going to happen. Not going to happen people. You have to measure the hair stretched if it’s curly or wavy. Not where you want it to hang. So many of you get on Amazon and post negative reviews to vendors complaining about this very thing, while us girls that know what we’re doing just shake our heads. It’s all we can do. Know what your’e doing before you spend your money.

This is the wig that Amazon will show you as the first preview. This is the first picture that you will see.

This is the also another picture that Amazon will show you to reel you in. Look at the baby hairs, the curls look good and you can tell the knots are bleached. The wig will not come looking like this.

This is the actual picture of the wig. As you can see, it will take some work for it to look like the picture posted. This is what is misleading about this whole thing.

This is another wig that I found on Amazon. This is another amazing picture of a full wig with incredible bleached knots and baby hairs.

But this is the actual wig coming out of the bag. This is a complete difference in what you’ll get.

In order to wear most lacefront wigs, you have to know so many things about wigs. Density is important. Knowing how to bleach knots. Knowing how to do baby hairs properly. Knowing how to wear these wigs is important.

Knowing what you’re getting is also important. Pay attention to how the wig actually looks and not the first picture you see. That picture is more than likely not the same wig that you’re getting.

Most of the wigs on Amazon are not wigs that are going to last you years. If you want a wig like that, look at www. rpgshow.com for something like that. These are starter wigs that will last perhaps a year if you’re lucky. They will mostly shed and be a tangled mess before you know it. If you’re getting married, then perhaps this will work for you. If you are suffering from hair loss, you might want to look into wigs that have a longer shelf life.

All of these things are important. don’t get caught up in just how the wig looks on someone else. I’m telling you. You’ll be disappointed. Go to a salon. When I was wearing them earlier in 2008, most salons didn’t know a thing about them. Now, everyone seems they are an expert.

What’s Wrong With Your Wig?

Too many women wear lacefront wigs the wrong way.

It’s a bit pitiful. Many women have left buying wefts and having them sewn into their heads and began wearing lacefront wigs. For some reason, they think it’s simpler to slip something on than to wait for hours while your cousin sews in your tracks.

No, not really. Not necessarily. Sometimes, wearing a lacefront is even more work than sewing in tracks.

1. TOO BULKY!

What is wrong with this wig?

It’s too bulky on top. It doesn’t look natural at all. Horrendous. Plus it ages Ciara instead of making her look young. Choose the right wig ladies. Too much hair framing the face with no layers cut into the wig will make any woman look twenty to thirty years older than she is. That’s saying a lot!

2. GET THE DENSITY RIGHT!

The density of the wig matters greatly! Some women like wigs with 200% and up density when they don’t realize that that look is okay for a glam photo shoot. Not every day!

It’s a beautiful wig but do you need all of this hair just to go to work every morning? God help you if you prepare food for a living. I wouldn’t want to see ombre hairs in my food. That’s the truth.

Pick a wig with the right density by first asking yourself if this is a wig for every day use or a wig for something special. If it’s something special then glam it up. If not, tone it down a bit. An every day use wig should be more realistic and practical. Some may disagree with this statement and it’s up to you to decide what you want to do with your money. However, I remember a day when weaves and wigs were used to create an illusion. Today, they are mostly used as accessories. That’s also fine, but lets not forget that wigs are also used for people with serious and chronic illnesses.

3. INSTALL THE WIG PROPERLY

Look closely at Rihanna. You can see the glue caked up on the sides and front. Not a good look. We shouldn’t be able to look at your hair line and say, “Oh you used Got2BeGlued” on the front to apply that, eh? No. Using too much will create this look. Please please please stop this madness.

With Nicki Minaj, the hairline sits too far on her forehead.Not a good look. Besides, when photographers flash their cameras, all the mistakes that you think no one will see will be amplified! With HD cameras on the scene these days, it was a good thing for photography, not so much for makeup artists and lace front wig wearers. The flash picks up all that caked on glue seeping through the wig. Not a good look.

Lacefront wigs are a wonderful look for those who know how to create the flawless look upon installing. For those who don’t, please go back to your needle and thread. There is nothing wrong with a properly installed sew in weave but there is a problem with a messed up lacefront installed like garbage.

What Are You Doing Wrong With Your Silk Press?

Your hair should shine so great, you should see your reflection. Your roots should be so straight, it looks as if you’d just received a fantastic perm. That’s the way that a great silk press should look like. You watched all the tutorials on YouTube. So why didn’t your hair turn out the way that it should?

Well read further and see what you did wrong....

1. You don’t have the right tools. Your flat iron is ten years old and doesn’t work right. You don’t have a good comb for the comb chase method. Face it. Your hair is not getting straight like it should. There are affordable flat irons for sale. IN fact, I found one for $17.99 on Amazon.com

2. You don’t have the right products.

Sometimes just because that heat protectant works for your friend, it doesn’t mean that you will have the same results. Hair protectant, deep conditioning, shampoo....all of those things will ensure that your silk press will come out much better than your first sad attempt. Sometimes, we are so eager to get to the end result that we don’t use the products that will help us achieve that perfect result.

3. You’re not using the right procedure.

I’m sorry but you can’t skip steps. You must wash your hair thoroughly. If you haven’t washed your hair in a long time OR you have used a lot of products, you will probably use a clarifying shampoo. This will help get the gunk out of your hair and off your flat iron. This buildup will build onto the flat iron and get it all gunky and dirty.

NO bueno.

You also need to deep condition your hair. This is important to getting a really good result. You want your hair to look healthy and this step can’t be ignored. Then, wash all the conditioner out of your hair and use a very light leave in. Then get to blow drying.

Blow drying is important too. If you have lots of shrinkage, it helps that you keep your hair in a stretched style in order to flat iron it much easily.

Do NOT USE A LOT OF LEAVE IN CONDITIONER.

Make sure you use the comb chase method and use small pieces to flat iron your hair. Sure, it will take longer but you’ll get a better result and you won’t use that many passes. I can’t stress that you must work on clean and conditioned hair.

In the end, you should get a pretty good result. My hair looks like crap right now. Why? Because I didn’t follow many of these rules and straightened my hair stupidly. So it looks and feels like crap. I wish I would have followed my first mind and did what I needed to do. Now it’s too late. I only flat iron my hair probably four times a year. And I messed up one of my times. Ah well....

My daughter did this method and these are her results...

1. Don’t go out and purchase expensive conditioners. You will use a liberal amount of product using this method. Suave conditioners are cheap and they work. Many of them are just as good as the expensive stuff.

2. Eco Styler Gel should have a shrine built to it.

This method is one of the best for achieving the absolutely perfect wash and go. Remember, not every method or technique works for everyone. But you must try to see what works for your hair and what doesn’t. If your hair doesn’t do well with loads of product, this may not be the method for you. Happy Holidays to you all. I hope that your Holiday season is great.

However, I do have one thing that I must get off my chest this holiday season.

I was looking on Amazon reviews where suddenly, I saw an influx of women who were giving their wigs purchased low ratings because....GASP...

THE CURLY WIGS THEY STRAIGHTENED WOULDN’T GO BACK CURLY AFTER THEY STRAIGHTENED THEM!

Why would you purchase a wig that looked like....

and hope the wig turns out like this?

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

What happens when you straighten YOUR HAIR on high temperatures? You can suffer from breakage but also you can suffer damage from the heat. When you try to revert your hair, it won’t be as curly as it used to due to the damage from the heat.

For super curly wigs, to straighten those uses a ton of heat. SO therefore, it’s not reasonable to expect the hair to return to its curly state.

I hear some of you now.

“Well MY wig turned back to its curly state, soooo....”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. Mine reverted.”

Well you got lucky. This time.

I don’t understand why purchase a curly wig and then straighten it?

Here is a tip that makes a ton of sense....

IF YOU WANT CURLY HAIR, GET CURLY HAIR. IF YOU WANT STRAIGHT HAIR, BUY STRAIGHT HAIR!

See how simple that is? If you want a more versatile wig, then you should purchase a straight wig. At the least, purchase a wig with a nice body wave. That way, you can have the best of both worlds. You can still have your straight styles with the body wave or straight wig, and then curl the wig if you want curls. There are multiple ways to add curls to your super straight wigs WITHOUT heat.

If you want your wigs to have longevity, then there are a few steps that you need to follow to ensure this. Otherwise, you’re throwing your money away in the trash.

Stop straightening your curly wigs. You’re doing yourself a disservice. Because in the end, you’re going to wind up with a curly wig that just won’t curl any longer, or a straight wig that just won’t get as straight as you want it to be.
