Author Jennifer Comeaux

Jennifer Comeaux earned a Master of Accounting from Tulane University and is a Certified Public Accountant in south Louisiana. While working in the corporate world, she sought a creative outlet and decided to put on paper a story that had played in her head for years. Mom’s eyebrows were still raised as she returned to her seat. I stayed standing and tapped Sergei’s arm. “Can we talk for a sec?”

I led him away from the table to a quiet spot near the entrance. A couple of Canadian ice dance coaches passed us, and we swapped brief hellos. I retreated further into the corner and looked up at Sergei.

“What was your dad angry about?”

Sergei rubbed the back of his neck and let out a frustrated sigh. “He wasn’t happy that he left work and now you’re not skating.”

I laughed dryly. “So, now he has something else to hold against me.”

“No, it’s not you.” Sergei touched my cheek. “He doesn’t even know you. It’s just him… and the way he is.”

“When you said he’s not a ray of sunshine, you weren’t joking. He didn’t even shake your hand.”

“He’s never been good at expressing emotion.”

“I’m sure glad you got your mom’s personality.” I tugged on the end of Sergei’s purple tie.

He smiled and wrapped his arms around me, but I could feel the tension in his body. What else could go wrong on this trip? With two days left in St. Petersburg and three more in Moscow, I was almost afraid to ask that question

Review:

I loved this story as much as I did the first. I think the author does a great job at describing the life of a skater and makes you feel you are there.

Sergie and Emily travel to Russia for a meet but also Emily will be meeting Sergie family. Emily's parents are also traveling along with them. During the first skating event Chris hurts his arm so they need to with draw from the competition. This gives Sergie and Emily a bit more free time - while in Sergie home town they visit where he had skated. While in the restroom Emily runs into Elena - Sergie's old skating partner and girlfriend.

Elena is with her cousins daughter - could this daughter be her and Sergie's daughter? What does this mean for Emily and for their wedding? How does Emily's mother react to the news that Sergie has a daughter? You will need to read Edge of the Past to find out. I am sure you will be glad you did. I can't wait to see if Jennifer has another book on the way.

I don't know if you ever have bought or wear a corset. I found this great website online called CorsetChick.com. They have a lot to offer corset tops, lots of plus size corsets, corset dresses, underbust corset, costumes, and even shoes and boots. What I was surprised at was the large selection they have.

I ordered the Purple Fairy Dryad Corset. I was excited to get it and so was my boyfriend. Too bad I am saving it for a special weekend at the coast. Look at how pretty it is. Lots of detail.

When ordering you really need to look at the sizing charts as the sizes do run smaller than most. They have something for everyone.

I also have to say that they have great customer service. I had ordered something not too long ago and it was out of stock. So when I called customer service the person who helped me was great! What I ordered could not be back ordered so she offered to refund my money. I saw that the money was refunded in minutes of getting off the phone.

The Kiss by the River:

The girl did not stir when Eanrin lifted her into his arms; her sleep was profound indeed. Her head lolled over his arm, and he was obliged to part her thick hair to uncover her face. It was an uncommonly beautiful face for a mortal.

Dezign With a Z Review

I have been looking for something to put on my wall above my bed for awhile and I found this fantastic site, Dezign with a Z. Using Dezign with a Z wall decals is an easy way to change the look of an entire room.

I found the one I put up under the floral section. It is called the Blossun vinyl wall applique. What I liked the best about picking out my wall decal was I could easily see how it would look in different colors, and it also came in 4 different colors, so I could pick the one that worked the best in my space.

It was so easy to apply, first I got my boyfriend Rex to help me. Then I sprayed the wall with glass cleaner so that the wall decal would stick properly. Next we remove the white backing, making sure that the vinyl decal sticks to the transfer tape. We arranged it how we wanted it on the wall and then took the squeegee that was included and rubbed it over the entire decal. Then we removed the transfer tape from one corner and slowly rolled it along the surface pressing down firmly on the decal. When the transfer tape is complete removed we again took the squeegee and rubbed over the decal removing any wrinkles or air bubbles that might have been left.

Here is my finished Dezign With a Z wall decal. Doesn't it look great? It has changed the appearance of my bedroom so much.

The wall decal is as easy to remove as it is to put up. If I decide to change the one I have I can either peel off the decal or use a blow drier to heat the decal and it is easy to remove and then start again with a new one.

I think you will love Dezign With a Z there is something for everyone, you can change a boring wall into a modern elegant wall with their wall decals in the matter of minutes. The prices are reasonable and it is fun and easy to do.

My Review:

I really liked Heart of the Ocean. Once I started reading I couldn't wait to see what happened. Heather B. Moore made the story very believable and the characters likeable.

Eliza left her high socity life in New York after turning down a marriage proposal to live with her Aunt who lived in a romote Puritan town. One night shortly after arriving she was out by the ocean watching a storm come in when she thought she heard a womans voice. It came out of no where. When returning home she asked her Aunt about ghost. Her Aunt told her the story of a woman with a broken heart. Could the voice be hers? Then Eliza Aunt is killed, who did it?

You will want to read Heart of the Ocean to find out all the strange things that go on in Maybrook. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

No detergents, soaps or chemicals needed!

You can use the Kalorik Steam Mop to clean linoleum, ceramic tile, stone, marble, carpet, sealed hardwood, parquet and more! It's also very light weight and easy to use!

I spoke with Kalorik via email on a Wednesday morning, and less than 48 hours my product arrived via FedEx! Two Thumbs Up! Upon arrival, it took all of 10 minutes to have it open, put together, and ready to use. It came with 2 small screws to attach the base to the actual cleaner, throw a microfiber pad on the base and we were ready to steam!

I have hardwood flooring in my entire house so floor care is not something that gets done as often as it should simply because it is a daunting task! Once I plugged in the steamer and got to work, I couldn't put it down. My floors looked and felt so clean and they definitely passed my "bare feet" test after being steamed. I adore this machine! I now wonder how in the world I have ever lived without one!

I am 110% satisfied with the Kalorik Steam Mop! I highly recommend this to anyone! Especially those households like mine where there are lots of animals, and teenage boys running in and out non stop. Those muddy boot prints don't stand a chance now!

I would love to have one of these - the dog always is tracking in mud and there is always a mess in the kitchen.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this fast pasted quick read. Once I started the book I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next.

Cassidy heard gun fire so she knew to get down on the floor and turn the light off. She was the target they were after. Cassidy called the police to let them know there was a man in the house and gun fire. After the police come she thinks she is safe. Why do they want her? Is there anyone who can save her?

You will have to read the book to find out the answers to these questions. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I think you will enjoy this as much as I did.

Excerpt One:
Tristan had spent months negotiating with the lord, who decided to hold out for all he could the moment he realized who was interested in the property. Apparently, Lord Melbourne had been so deep in debt that he had no choice but to sell off his ancestral estate. Tristan knew a desperate man when he saw one and Lord Melbourne had been desperate. He eventually yielded to Tristan’s way of thinking and settled on a fair price. Tristan was happy to be rid of the man and even more pleased to find the daughter of Melbourne’s deceased neighbor in his own backyard. Tristan studied the object of his thoughts for a moment longer, trying to catch another glimpse of those revealing eyes. She declined to look at him, but he wanted a reaction from her—any kind of reaction would please him.
“It seems we will be neighbors.” He realized he had blundered when her spine stiffened and she turned toward him. Anger marred her lovely face, and he guessed she likely suffered from temper when the mood struck, as it seemed to be doing now.
“You, sir, may now own this property, but I assure you we will be neighbors in no other way except that we share a border. I see no reason why we should ever meet again.” With her back stiff and head held high, she turned to her impressively large stallion and mounted with surprising ease, her riding habit no hindrance to her. He wondered if she rode with as much confidence as she showed him right now—he thought she probably did.
“There is no reason why we can’t be civil to one another, Alaina. After all, I now own half of your favorite lake.” He couldn’t seem to stop saying all of the wrong things, but he was enjoying himself. She stared down at him from her elevated height and looked him over with a mixture of what he thought to be disgust and perhaps admiration. But there was only anger behind her next words.
“I have plenty of ponds on my own property.”
“Then why are you here?”
“That, sir, is none of your business.” She turned the horse, spurred him forward, and once she broke through the trees, she sent the horse into a suicidal run, one which she surprisingly had complete control over. Tristan followed her with his eyes until she rode over the hill and out of sight.
“Interesting,” he murmured. “A most interesting woman.” He turned to his horse and stroked his muzzle. “What do you think, Admiral?”
The horse whinnied and nodded his head. “I agree, old boy,” he murmured and his gaze returned to the hill where she had been moments before. “I agree.” Tristan mounted his horse with equal ease and turned to continue the inspection of his property.

Excerpt Two:
Across the acres, darkness enveloped Alaina, her surroundings illuminated by the flickering flame of a lamp. She moved around in the attic, searching through trunks of the items that had come from her mother’s cottage in Ireland. It was difficult to see so many memories reminding her of her parents, but she also found it calmed her. She had avoided these things since they had been delivered years ago, but now her fears became secondary. She hoped something from her parents’ past might shed light on what was happening in the present. Alaina rummaged through a trunk of some of her mother’s clothes, pulling them out and smelling them, hoping for a faint whiff of the soft rose scent her mother used to wear. There was something lingering around the old clothes, and it took Alaina back to a time when she was a little girl. Nevertheless, the memory ended there. She paused for a moment, as if the scent reminded her of something else besides her mother. She subsequently released the memory when she saw the bottom of the trunk was not as deep as it should have been. She pulled out the remaining dress and ran her fingers along the bottom and edges. She next looked on the outside of the trunk. Nearly six inches of extra space remained near the bottom on the inside.
Alaina felt along the inside edges and became excited when she found a gap. Slowly reaching her fingers into the hole, she simultaneously pushed down on the other edge for leverage and surprised herself when the bottom tilted to reveal the extra space beneath. Removing the thin board, she set it aside and gasped when she turned back to the trunk.
“Oh, Mother. What did you do?”

This was a good read. It kept me interested till the end. I know that I will read more books written by Shelly Frome.

Josh had left home and started wandering the country. He lives in a homeless shelter. One afternoon he runs into a young girl, Alice who is cold and hurt. He decides to take her under his wing and help her. What are the terrible things she is running from? Home? Family? What about what she witness is she safe?

You will need to read Twilight of the Drifter and find out what happens. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

About the author

I write books because I love playing with language, on the one hand, and creating characters and seeing what crazy things they will do if you set them free. I’ve spent more than 20 years living in different European countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland. I speak French, German and Italian, and I’ve been learning Turkish for the last five years just for fun.

My books are mysteries, for lack of a better word. Doing Max Vinyl is about a computer recycling con man, while Zombie Candy is about a serial adulterer who happens to love zombie movies. In both books, Annie Ogden, a recently returned Iraq War vet who is having trouble adjusting to civilian life, gets personally involved in taking down these world-class jerks. I like a book with a good dose of humor, and the humor can come from the absurd situations people find themselves in. The world we live in is an absurd place, and you can either laugh or cry about it.

When I’m not writing I’m usually reading. I like to write book reviews. Of course I love it when people review my books, too. I like to cook and sometimes post recipes on my blog. Zombie Candy contains most of the recipes in the book in an annex at the end. I also like to hike and travel and learn about other cultures.

Kendall Grisbaum has been trying to pick up of the pieces of her life since the death of her firefighter husband almost two years ago. The last thing she’s interested in is love and feels the best way to start moving on is to concentrate on opening up her new bakery business. Unfortunately, she’s finding it hard to remember those two points now that her old friend and policeman Brad Mayer is back in her life and giving her a helping hand.

After losing her husband in the line of duty, Kendall doesn’t want to get involved with another man with a dangerous job, and refuses to give in to her attraction to the handsome police officer. But Brad has always loved Kendall from afar and now that he senses she might feel the same, he’s determined to show her the real danger would be to lose another chance at love.

Brad startled her by reaching out and stroking the side of her face with his finger. “Hey, why the frown? I pay you a compliment and you look unhappy. Next time, I’m going to tell you your cupcakes suck if that’s what it takes to get a smile out of you.”

“Oh, stop,” she said with a halfhearted laugh, lightly batting away his hand. “It’s nothing you said. And I am happy.” Mostly. At least she was happier than she’d been a few months ago.

Brad narrowed his eyes. “No, I know you. What’s really going on?”

She should have known better than to think she could hide anything from him, so she gave up the pretense. “I don’t know. I…I guess I feel a little alone sometimes. Grammy never seems to be around when I need her—and she’s all I have now. Even though it’s just you and Georgie, you two are close and share so much. And I…” She flushed, realizing she was babbling and embarrassing herself further. “Never mind. I’m sorry. I’m just being silly.”

“Hey, you’re not being silly.” Brad stepped even closer.

His aftershave tickled her nose, but the fresh scent was a welcome change to her senses. All she wanted to do was lean in farther and just inhale. She hoped he didn’t notice her swaying into him, but he smelled a thousand times better than cupcakes and wet paint.

“You can’t help the way you feel,” he said, placing his warm, broad hands on her shoulders. “But I want you to know that I’ll always be around, so you never have to feel alone.”

She wanted to argue that point, but his kind words were overwhelming. Brad pulled her into him, wrapping his arms around her. She stiffened at first, but the way he positioned himself made it clear that he had no intention of letting her go any time soon.

Her shoulders relaxed and she dropped her chin to his chest with a sigh of pleasure. Somehow Brad instinctively knew she needed this—a good old-fashioned hug—more than she knew she needed it herself. She wound her arms around his waist and sank deeper into his chest. An aching need to be held by him and have all her worries disappear squeezed through her. She felt safe, almost believing his words that he would always be around and she’d never be alone.

It was nice to pretend for a few minutes, anyway.

Brad shifted, gathering her even closer. He brushed a gentle kiss on the side of her forehead and a shudder passed through her. He felt so nice. This felt so nice. Brad inclined his head a few more inches and his breath softly fanned her face.

Without warning, her senses began to spin from the heat of his body and the scent of his skin. That’s when she knew she was in trouble.

Her eyes sprang open. Suddenly their embrace didn’t feel like a friendly hug, but something much more intimate. What were they doing? What was she doing?

Brad is only trying to comfort you, she kept telling herself. Until she looked up into his eyes and saw that he felt what was passing between them as well. His blue eyes were filled with heat. Desire. She swallowed hard.

Author Bio:

Jennifer Shirk has a bachelor degree in pharmacy-which has in NO WAY at all helped her with her writing career. But she likes to point it out, since it shows romantic-at-hearts come in all shapes, sizes, and mind-numbing educations.

She writes sweet romantic comedies and won third place in the RWA 2006 NYC's Kathryn Hayes Love and Laughter Contest with her book, The Role of a Lifetime.

She's also a board member for Straight Ahead Ministries, an organization involved in helping spread the gospel and aiding medical and pharmacy students in Russia. She resides in a beach resort in NJ, and when she's not involved in all the above, she's taking care of her most treasured possessions: her husband, daughter, and four hermit crabs.

Interview with Jennifer:

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU WROTE YOUR FIRST BOOK? Ooh, later in life. I was about 34. When I had my first child and became a stay-at-home mom I started to read a lot more. Eventually that turned into wanting to write my book.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO WRITE?

I’m actually not picky—as long as it’s QUIET and I’m comfortable, I’m good to go. But in the summer, I do enjoy writing in my screened in porch area. It’s very sunny and whenever I look out, I can see my garden.

DO YOU HAVE PLANS FOR A NEW BOOK?

Actually, I do have a novella coming out around Valentine’s Day. It’s something totally new for me because it has a minor paranormal edge to it. But still very fun!

It’s called A LITTLE BIT CUPID and about a loner who must find true love before midnight on Valentine’s Day or risk having humanity lose love forever, and with the help of Cupid’s son himself, she seeks out Mr. Wrong while Mr. Right is right under her nose.

WHAT OR WHO INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE?

Actually, I became inspired to write when I wasn’t finding enough of what I wanted to read. There really is a small amount of sweet romance authors out there.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WRITING? Wow, it’s been over eight years! I can’t believe it’s been that long.

DO YOU PREFER EBOOKS, PAPERBACKS OR HARDCOVER?

I can honestly say never hardcovers. LOL They’re heavy so they don’t travel well. I probably prefer ebooks slightly more, but I give paperbacks as gifts all the time.

HAVE YOU BASED ANY OF YOUR CHARACTERS ON SOMEONE YOU KNOW OR REAL LIFE EVENTS IN YOUR OWN LIFE? Friends actually WANT me to write about them, yet I haven’t. It’s a little more fun to create your characters from scratch. I have taken some work experiences in the pharmacy and a playground incident with my child and--after tweaking them--used them as scenes in books. Sometimes something happens to you and you think, “I HAVE to use this somehow!” LOL
