The field of psychology encompasses many aspects that must be dealt with on a daily basis. Psychologists and others working in the field are often faced with moral dilemmas that may cause them to question the place of morals and spirituality in psychology. Those who practice some form of religion may use their specific values and morals when it comes to finding resolutions in these situations. There still lies the question of whether religion has a place in the day-to-day practice of psychology and if so, where to draw the line.

In part, psychology is considered a science. Though it is not exact in all situations, it does carry with it various similarities to science where theories and decision making are concerned. Ethics play a big role in psychology for both the roles of the psychologist or psychological professional conducting evaluations and providing treatment and the client or patient receiving the services or treatment. The code of ethics was put into place to protect both parties involved. Ethics is based on right and wrong and, can therefore be closely related to morality in many instances. Because of this, it can be argued that religion plays a role in the ethical decisions that are made everyday. Though the code of ethics does not specifically site religion as a part of what is contained there in, various aspects of morality and common values are found.

Spirituality as a whole has become even more prevalent in the field of psychology over the past several years as evidenced by the number of Christian counseling centers that have opened around the country. The professionals working in these settings offer what some say is the perfect combination of treatment, psychology based on Christian values and beliefs. Here the psychological principles and ethics are used with various aspects of religious values and beliefs interwoven into the treatment plans. Patients are often counseled on how spirituality can help them through their difficult situations. In these settings, professionals strive to find a balance between psychology and religion, a challenging task at times. Psychology is based on various principles, theories and ethics while religion is based mostly on faith. Psychological issues are proven in a scientific way while a good part of religion is based on belief in the unseen. While many people don't question their faith, it can be difficult to intermingle what can be physically seen with what cannot. This causes many people to question the place of spirituality in psychology.

Because faith is often questioned, it has become necessary to receive proof. This proof often comes in the form of answers that are a direct result of the testing of ideas (Myers). When ideas are tested and found to be correct, faith is easier to maintain; however, then they do not survive the test, faith can become a very shaky prospect. When this principle is applied to psychology, the outcome can change on a regular basis. Different situations call for different ideas which may or may not prove to work. Also, what works in one situation may prove impossible in another. The key to understanding where spirituality fits in is knowing how to apply it to each individual situation and idea and make determinations and assessments based on the information that is gathered and the particular values that are relevant to the end result.

To better understand where religion fits into the psychological realm, let's take a closer look at the human attributes that make up each. Where religion is concerned there is the theological wisdom. This deals with the acceptance of divine love in order to enable individuals to accept themselves. Psychological wisdom, however, deals with self-esteem, optimism and personal control (Myers). The ability to use the two together to make important decisions will provide the freedom to use what we know, admit what we don't and search for the answers. Because we are both the creatures and creators of our own social world, people and situations matter (Myers). While ultimate control lies beyond us, we carry responsibility for making important decisions that have a lasting effect on us as well as others.

Psychologists face these dilemmas everyday. They must make important decisions that will directly effect their patients. Each decision is made on an individual basis and is dependent on each specific situation and its own set of circumstances. Each decision will carry with it a separate set of ethical issues and dilemmas and the solution will remain unique to each. Religion is said to heal people while medicine was designed to do the same. The two often work in different contexts, but it can be argued that medicine was discovered because of ideas and values based on religious beliefs. Because of this, it is believed in many situations the two are used together to come up with treatment plans that will be both effective and long lasting.

In many ways, people who have great faith have found the insights and critical analyses of psychology to be supportive of the understanding they possess of human nature. Their assumption that religion is conducive to happiness and good health is also attributed in great part to psychology. The science of psychology offers principles that can be applied to the construction of messages that will prove both memorable and persuasive. Here the tasks of peacemaking and reconciliation are promoted in a way that offers solutions that will provide the means by which others can achieve happiness by establishing healthy relationships (Myers). While the science may challenge our way of thinking, the same can be said of religion. Faith is often questioned in an effort to find answers. This has proven to be helpful in many situations where the answer wasn't clearly defined. Here, the science of psychology is used along with the religious beliefs to find solutions to problems that seemingly have no immediate or clear resolution. Still, faith is not always a negative aspect of psychology.

A strong value and belief system can help a psychologist working as a professional in the field deal with situations where the traditional psychological theories aren't showing a definite answer. Here the process is reversed because religion is used to clarify a particular set of circumstances based on the lack of information that can be gathered at a given time. There are also times where one can support the other. Religious beliefs are often used to support the reasoning behind many ethical situations whereas psychology is often used to prove various religion based ideas. This is where the two can be used in tandem to come up with a truly unique solution that will work.

It has also been argued that faith plays an important role in a psychologist's ability to use the information found in the code of ethics and psychological practices that are present everyday. This is based on the belief that people who possess strong faith are better able to understand the science of psychology because they can use the two together to come up with answers that are suited to each new set of circumstances. Here psychologists are not heavily relying on either faith or science, but instead are using them both to gain a better understanding of the situation as a whole. Those who believe in the contents of the code of ethics understand its importance and why it must play a role in psychology on a daily basis (Kafka). Those who possess strong religious beliefs usually strive to use them everyday when making ethical decisions and are often working toward an outcome built on both science and faith. Still there is a very important line between when to use the science of psychology and when to rely on the beliefs and values that often assist many in making daily life decisions.

When it comes to the co-mingling of psychology and spirituality, each has its own place. The scientific aspects of psychology are necessary in order to solve a wide range of problems and provide successful treatment to those in need. Still, spirituality can play a very important role in the rehabilitation of patients by making it easier to understand the psychological ramifications and why they exist. Spirituality and science can be used both during and after treatment. During treatment, religious beliefs may guide both the psychologist and patient toward making the right decisions and understanding difficult situations along the way. After treatment, religion can continue to help the patient as he or she moves onward through life while the scientific aspect may still remain present in the form of ongoing counseling or use of medication.

Psychologists can use both in their profession to make difficult decisions and deal with hard to solve problems. Aspects of each can be relied upon to provide the means by which to draw important conclusions that may help throughout the entire treatment process. Evidence has also shown that psychologists who know their profession but also possess strong religious beliefs are able to help their patients throughout treatment by passing on various virtues that promote positive thinking (Myers).

The end results of melding together both science and spirituality have been studied for a number of years. Some argue psychology should remain only a science while others feel the intertwining of science with religion can only serve to improve the overall outcome of treatment situations. The argument is also made that science as a whole has strong ties to religion and the two often give cause for the questioning of each other. Science can often prove what religion cannot and religion was the basis for the need to know, thus people began studying the how and why of scientific matters (Myers).

Some have explained the boundaries between psychology and religion by bringing up a few points that express how one relates to the other. One point is the correlation of scientific ideas presented in everyday human nature to religion and being able to site the information to show how it is all related. Another important point is the link between religion, prejudice, altruism and overall well-being (Myers).

When dealing with various psychological situations, it is just as important to realize the importance of the science as it is the religion. This is often difficult to do because of the differing beliefs and values possessed by each professional working in the field. Because of this, it is necessary for each to make decisions based on the psychological code of ethics along with the specific circumstances of each given situation. For those who are religious, spirituality will most likely play a role in the decision making process in a professional setting because it very likely does in any other. Those who utilize spirituality in day-to-day situations often rely on it to guide them in their professions. Though the psychological code of ethics may not have been created based specifically around the religious beliefs and values directly associated with spirituality, there are many similarities between ethical dilemmas and resolutions and those of a moral nature.

Correlations have also been reported between faith and subjective well-being. One example of this can be found in a National Opinion Research Center survey of 42,00 Americans that was conducted after 1972. Here 26 percent who never attended religious services reported being very happy while 47 percent of those participating in spiritual services on a regular basis, sometimes more than weekly reported also being very happy (Myers). Though this does not sho3w a direct link between religion and well-being, it does indicate that many people seek spirituality in various aspects of their lives. Whether the science of psychology and spirituality should be co-mingled in a professional setting can be a bit subjective as it is dependent upon the differing situations and those directly involved in the treatment processes. While there are correlations between the ethical code used by psychological professionals everywhere and the morality associated with religion, the two remain separate and can be called upon in any given situation where they may be deemed necessary or important. The code of ethics is used every day in the psychological setting, but whether or not spirituality is involved may be up to each professional working in the field.

The Art of Forgiving and Forgiveness is the Essence of Spirituality

A wise man once said; "Forgiving is giving up the possibility of a better past!" Forgiveness and forgiving is not having to understand, and understanding may come later, in pieces, an insight here and a glimpse there, after forgiving. Forgiving is finding peace of mind; it is about self lovingly releasing resistance to the pain of your injury, and it is not so much an act as a journey; forgiving is a choice. Forgiving is love's toughest work and biggest risk; it is love's power to break nature's rule. Forgiving is one of the most powerful acts people can do, and by helping others to learn how to forgive will increase hope and caring in this world. Forgiving is a great virtue, and forgiveness cannot be considered as separate from virtue, or virtue as separate from forgiveness. Forgiving is all about letting go of anger, resentment and sorrow, and bring in love, compassion and tolerance.

Forgiving is a spiritual grace every Christian should develop, and is something many Christians struggle with, especially when the offenses result from "deep soul wounds." The joy of being forgiven is only that of a sinner and of this earth; the joy of forgiving is Jesus Christ's own joy, the joy of heaven. Forgiving is not easy but it is a commandment from God.

In prayers, we must remember that all our human forgiving is grounded in God's forgiveness of us, and all forgiving is a divine miracle which belongs to God. The Bible teaches that forgiving is not a sign of weakness, but of power.

Forgiving is the essence of spirituality because it prepares us for our ultimate liberation from suffering, and Jesus says that the path to forgiving is recognizing our own debilitating need for forgiveness. Forgiving is difficult to do on your own. You need the Lord to accomplish this. Mark 10:27: "And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."

But forgiving is often easier said than done. Why is it so hard to do? Still, forgiving is something you must do. Matthew 6:15 says, "But if you do not let men have forgiveness for their sins, you will not have forgiveness from your Father for your sins."

Forgiving is an attribute of God, and as human beings we are expected to be forgiving and carry out that attribute of God as best as one can towards people. God is much-forgiving, and is the dispenser of grace.
The Christian grace of forgiving is an essential component in the spiritual health and healing of God's children. One reason we resist forgiving is that we do not really understand what forgiveness is or how it works. We think we do, but we do not. The first person to benefit from forgiving is the one who does it, and forgiving is a journey; the deeper the wound, the longer the journey.

Martin Luther once said that "forgiveness is pure happiness." To achieve this miracle of "pure happiness" and to heal from our wounds in forgiving and forgiveness; we must choose to give up our right to resentment and we must choose to re-establish compassion, generosity, and love toward the very person or people that hurt us. When we realize that forgiving is the only remedy; forgiving is something good we do for ourselves. The Art of Forgiving is itself a work of art and a gift that God has given us.

Literally in the Hebrew language (the historic language of the bible), the word Kabala translates as "tradition". Kabbalah as a spiritual practice can be summarized and explained as a form, or even in many authorities' eyes, as Jewish mysticism.

Kabbalah can be said to be an attempt to fathom the mysteries of the master of the universe and the mysteries of the creation of entirety. The Kabbalists developed a complete and full philosophic system during the Middle Ages. The Talmud itself contains mystical interpretations of the Biblical story of creation. With the appearance of the "Zohar" in the thirteen (13' Th) centuries, the study of Kabbalah gained great renown and popularity.

Jewish mysticism attracted itself to many and varied remarkable personalities , some of whom even considered themselves even to be the messiah or Messiach" themselves Amazingly even one such event transfixed itself with Abraham Abulafia ( 1240 - 1291) who regarded himself as the fore-runner of said Messiah / Messiach, even attempting to convert none less than the Pope himself to Judaism.

Kabalistic teaching gained in intensity and scope in sixteenth century Safed/ This town in the upper Galilee in the modern day state of Israel, became a center of Jewish mysticism ; its foremost teachers of Kabbalah included Issac Luria ( 1534- 1572). A practical or miracle-working mystic, Luria claimed that the prophets of creation had been revealed to him personally, by none other than the prophet "Elijah". Luria believed that human beings could attain full identification with the Divine Spirit through intense concentration, referred to as kavvanah".

This theory was described by Luria's disciple Hayim Vital, in his book "Et Hayim" (which translates fully as "The Tree of Life" Another famous Kabbalist. Moshe Cordovero, formulated Kabbalistic teachings in a philosophic system. His contemporary, Isiah Hurwitz (1555- 1625) interpreted the teachings of Judaism in light of the Kabala. Isiah Hurwitz sought with the other inspired mystics of his generation to hasten the coming and arrival of the Messiah.

It can be said that during extreme hardship as well difficult and strenuous times for Jews and Jewish communities far flung across Europe, Asia and Africa, that the teachings of Kabala greatly contributed to the rise of messianic hopes and in time influenced Hasidism profoundly. Indeed fully Jewish folklore grew and thrived on the Kabbala's poetic and magical elements.

Will Love Prevail as the Core of Christian Faith?

In John 20:30-31: "Jesus' disciples saw Him do many more other miraculous signs besides the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life." The miracles that Jesus performed were driven by compassion. Jesus healed people, raised the dead, quieted storms and fed the hungry. Jesus did all these miracles and never performed a single miracle for His own benefit or gain.

Miracles are seals of a divine mission. A miracle is an unexpected event attributed to divine intervention. Miracles are messengers of God as the sacred writers appealed to them as proofs. Miracles are possible and they will inspire, excite and create a passion for life that human beings have never experienced before.

A world where miracles become common place, and to create a life with purpose. Learn how to love in every relationship and in every aspect of life; learn how to heal the hurt inside and set oneself free. Discover how to walk in life, create prosperity, find life's purpose, and experience true spirituality through faith in God. Miracles are possible and wonderful, because we all are Wonders.

This wonderful statement implores the student of Zen to convey meaning, intention and condition through simple, focused attention. The idea that a sender of communication could accomplish complete understanding on the part of the receiver by becoming the manifestation of one perfectly formed thought runs counter to our modern society, which relies more on sensory overload.

We all have noticed how a single inspirational quote can instill more meaning than other complex forms of exposition. A beautiful thought may stick in our minds for many years to good effect. Likewise, one powerful photographic image can click a switch in our brain. Such a picture can transform us. Hence, the truism, "A picture is worth 1000 words."

The closer our proximity to enlightenment, the fewer words are required. Mark Twain, in his essay on American realist author William Dean Howells, wrote, "With a hundred words to do it with, the literary artisan could catch that airy thought and tie it down and reduce it to a concrete condition, visible, substantial, understandable and all right, like a cabbage; but the artist does it with twenty, and the result is a flower."

When it comes to expressing ourselves, it is essential to say as much we can with as few words as possible. It is so easy to become lost or disoriented in the forest of our thoughts. Should we become enamored with the shape of our argument or the sound of our voice, we can easily wander into unfamiliar territory. Our communication quickly can become so misdirected or diluted as to be ineffective or completely misinterpreted.

Poets, musicians and artists often achieve simple and pure expression. Nature always achieves it. Flora, fauna, and the seasons provide us with a direct, spiritual connection with life forces for which there are no accurate words. The glimpse we are offered into an understanding of the oneness of which we are a part is in the shape of trees, in the movement of eagles and in the light on the horizon. Occasionally, we grasp a sense of spirit and try to use language and material to express it. It is important that we do so, just as it is important that we are mindful of simple and direct effectiveness in all of our daily communication with business associates, friends or family members.

How successful we are is less the result of form and function learned from books and classes than it is from how pure and well-formed our original intention. The greatest clarity can result when the receiver of communication is afforded space in which to relax and infer meaning, in the same way that the listener of great symphonies benefits from the rest between notes.

As stated in the Tao Te Ching, which provides the basis for the philosophical school of Taoism, "We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want."

Yoga has long been practiced as a type of discipline and spiritual awakening, it is gaining even more popularity in the west with people's increased interest in spirituality and ancient arts. There are the standard versions of all of these items and then there are the "ethical", "green" and "fair-trade" items that people ought to be purchasing. It is generally assumed that people who take part in activities like yoga are at one with nature and have a strong ethical and moral ethos but does this mean that many companies can exploit the people who are just hoping to do their best by their fellow man.

What does natural and organic really mean in terms of yoga clothing and accessories, most ethical garments are made from cotton which is of course is natural. One of the main problems with cotton production is the pesticides that get used on the crops because they are incredibly harsh they pollute the soil around the plants and can have major detrimental effects on the farmers and their families. The soil is becoming contaminated which means that every year more chemicals and investment are needed in order to generate the same volume of crops. This is destroying the farmers lives and livelihood all in the name of clothing and bedding so maybe we should be more principled about where we buy our yoga clothing from.

But organic is not the only thing we are being encouraged to consider when we purchase our yoga clothing, the latest issue to address is the carbon footprint of the goods. How far has the material come to make the clothes and then how far has it come to reach you the consumer. Every piece of fuel that was burned for your yoga clothing to reach you counts towards your carbon footprint. This has become such a huge global issue that many airlines, which are believed to be one of the greatest contributors to global warming, are offering you the chance to offset your carbon footprint when you buy your ticket. How do you know the distance something has truly come when you buy online?

Then the last in the holy trinity of being a good ethical person is whether the materials and items are fair-trade. We see this on so many items from our morning tea to yoga clothing and mats. Fair trade means that not only are the workers and producers being paid the appropriate fair price for their goods, not what the west wants to pay but it is about so much more than that. Fair trade helps improve the conditions and lives of the many people working across the world. Very important for farmers who live and work in countries where they don't have any social support or a solid infrastructure.

So go green and invest in some ethical and fair-trade yoga clothing.

To experience your divine nature, start making it a habit to place your attention on your Soul during the day. Your attention has probably been elsewhere so initially you may feel quite flatfooted and not sure how to feel your divine nature. One of the easiest ways to begin is to simply ask, "What is my Soul experiencing right now?" This question moves your attention away from typical thoughts, emotions and reactions that you are familiar with to the spiritual dimension of your being. It is a question to make you aware of your essence rather than a question necessarily to be answered.

The question also implies there is no "seeking," "working on," or "attaining" a "state of consciousness." Divinity is within, whole and completely intact. You are just making space to notice what was forgotten and overlooked by the ego's investment in a self-image. Rather than engage with the world in the same old ways to maintain a certain ego identity, the question provides an opportunity to know more about your essence.

However, this kind of re-focusing needs to be done with a sense of devotion rather than with a motive to "feel better," to be spiritually enlightened, or as a new strategy for more effective living. To live from Soul is to expect nothing from it- not to save yourself or the world. All ego-based spirituality is revealed by the presence of expectation. It is a form of assault upon divinity with preset assumptions and goals that usurp the ways of Soul which are often subtle. Soul is just for being. Experiencing your divinity requires this simple, open curiosity.

When asking "What is my Soul experiencing?" what often follows is an observing eye watching to see if anything is happening as a result. If the question is asked with a motive in mind, then the tendency is to look for a result based on assumptions and expectations about what you want to happen. You want to know if you are getting back what you thought you would from asking the question. You are after achieving your ideal state and you want to see if anything special is happening. These wants are very understandable and besides indicating the ego's involvement, they also speak to your deep longing to know Spirit. However, expectations will only lead to mistaken conclusions, disappointment and eventually giving up. Instead, ask the question as a reflection of your devotion. Now you are coming from your heart to know your true nature. You are held in a love that softens everything, holds you in your center and allows you to be gracious with whatever happens or doesn't happen. Your love is foundational to the process. It is what will get you through your challenges. Many times along the way you will feel like you are failing. Feeling a sense of failure is inevitable and is always an indication that the ego has entered the process. Since no one is completely free of ego, it will be a part of your path. The ego will make itself known in the spiritual process by having a goal or ideal image in mind that you haven't met. Falling short of this goal can feel like one of the worst kind of failures because it seems to represent a separation from love, connection, peace and joy. In other words, separation from what means the most to your heart. However, it is the very love that you seek which embraces apparent failure when the question originates from devotion. Love is there with you when a noticeable shift in consciousness doesn't occur and there is no overt spiritual stimulation to make you feel like you are getting somewhere. Instead of thinking it doesn't work and/or something is wrong with you, spaciousness arises from a deep sense of knowing that everything is OK just as it is. You aren't concerned with the result of the question. You are innocent, curious and open to remembering how Soul works free from any agenda. There is a divine seed within you that grows into your awareness on it's own. When you ask, "What is my Soul experiencing right now?", the divine seed of awareness is stirred. The Parable of the mustard seed and the yeast [Matthew 13:31, 33] speaks beautifully to this in comparing our unfolding to something as natural as "seed" and "yeast."

The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in the field. The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Asking, "What is my Soul experiencing right now?", is a way of spirituality that once begun or given intent, works on it's own- like a seed and without human effort like yeast works to leaven bread. Soul spreads its life force outwards. It is subtle work from the inside out. More typical is approaching spirituality from the outside in by using a "practice" or method for self-realization. This may be an indication of separation from Soul. The divine seed is not recognized. The Soul informed mind does not have a plan for enlightenment. Plans are often a reflection of distrust and therefore a defense against Soul. The "seed" is simply something to be received.

To realign with your true nature, think of yourself only as a gardener of your Soul. There is a seed within that is growing and inevitably shows itself. It happens on its own or through Grace. You are to cultivate It's growth. How? Primarily by making room, making space for It to grow into your consciousness. Asking, "What is my Soul experiencing?" is making space. Add to the soil of your being trust and faith. Trust in your self and that the deepest part of you knows the way. Have faith that it will come on it's own.

Soul is not remembered as a result of "doing" anything. Asking the question is a shift from "doing" to "receiving" what is already there. What you are is effortless. Effort takes away while cessation opens and reveals. "Doing" is often the ego. "Be still and know that I am God" is the letting go of "doing" something to become more spiritual. "Knowing" means being. When asking, "What is my Soul experiencing this moment?", allow yourself to feel the stillness and the joy that arises without the question tethered to the need for something to happen. This is the "garden" from which you grow.

In Journeys Home I describe some of my childhood experiences in the world of religion and spirituality. That world comprised congregations, doctrines, and practices that comforted but also confused me and left me uncertain about my identity and my life path. After the end of childhood, my search for spiritual truth never let up. I looked inside institutions and outside in nature. I tried different kinds of prayer, various patterns of worship, and numerous names for God. I explored all the ancient practices in old and new forms including praying contemplatively, making pilgrimages, and withdrawing into silent retreat. Over time I found my best forms of spiritual practice through my writing.

Writing is prayer. In the seclusion and privacy of my journal, written words become prayer. Some days, onto clean pale pages I pour out heartfelt questions that soak up answers from its reciprocal breath. I'm enlightened. Then, I move forward onto fresh space with insights, infusions of hope, and new queries. Other times, I write with a shaking hand, terrible words of anguish. Tears drip onto the dry paper and blur letters into a cloudy grey wash. I'm emptied. Comfort comes as a new passage breaks light onto the page. Prayer is presence to my writing like words give form to my prayer.

Writing is pilgrimage. Through the boundarylessness of my imagination I can go anywhere, try everything. Using the nearly infinite resources of the internet, I can see all from the ease of my desk chair. I visit ancient worship sites, read early texts, even consult gurus of various wisdom traditions. I reflect on mysteries, decipher meanings of sutras, or converse about problems I see among the faithful. I record all this in my journal in both factual and creative ways, pasting photos, copying definitions, or compiling passages into personal reports. Pilgrimage is returning to these chapters whenever I need to touch in to feelings or reconfirm facts of each journey.

Writing is silent retreat. The quiet space of my office becomes my hermitage. The waiting pages of my journal become the mirror to my inner self, my soul, and my body. The vignettes I write take me deeply into my interior where I find the unexpected. In descriptive images I see myself anew. In yearning phrases, I feel my soul dance toward my destiny. In practical documentation I learn what my body teaches through symptom. In the silence between the lines, I feel my humanness alive within. As periods present thresholds, I see where I need to go. I relish the quiet broken only by sounds from outside-outside my self, my room, my thoughts. I relate to such intrusions from the calm center that my writing retreat cultivates.

Writing as spiritual practice reveals a personal conversation with the Divine. Journeys Home shares with its readers a glimpse into my experience of this spiritual practice. Its pages include passages lifted directly from my journal and creatively reshaped into memoir. Through it, I invite you into your inner conversation.

Your Body is Your Temple: And it is High Time for Some House Cleaning

Last week after a month of delay in the postal system I finally got the book Detoxify or Die by Sherry Rogers, M.D. I had ordered, probably because it was just the right time for me. I read it twice in 5 days. Having accumulated many symptoms over the years starting with debilitating migraines and headaches on a regular base, arthritis in my hands, severe allergies, skin problems, Candida and other things I have tried on and off different approaches to detox and clean out my body. I have experimented with all kinds of healthy diets and cleansings which have not provided me with a break through experience of getting much better. I even did colonics for 10 days ending with a profound liver cleanse, okay I won't get into that right now, (If you like to read a real fun description of a liver cleanse Arjuna Ardagh did a great article on his liver cleanse)
Let's just say I am still motivated to find easy ways to get better and improve my health. Reading the book Detoxify or Die has been very inspiring and got me into action. I often have been very frustrated in the past with reading health books because just realizing the extent of our environmental pollution and toxic exposure through air, water, food made me feel very helpless and angry. And the offered solutions seemed to be very expensive, hard to do and often made me go through major activations of my symptoms. I often ended up in that place of overwhelm and frustration; I knew I should detox more in depth but felt unable to follow through with the offered solutions. Have you ever been there?

When I read this book many bits and pieces of information I already had were falling into place for me.

This is not just another book about how bad our toxicity level is because of our life style and toxic exposure we cannot avoid, it actually gives a pretty simple way to detox and clean out the temple for our divine soul. Don't get frustrated! Use the answers to these questions to motivate yourself and decide right now what you want to do. Decide on 3 action steps you will do this week. The state of your health is something you have the power to improve and change in your life. I personally love the sauna detox process because it makes me feel good. We are all spirit, our bodies are our vessels and spirit is the creator, light and life within the body. As spirit we are one and Earth is our larger body. This major change time is an awakening of spirit in the physical consciousness; a time to wake up to spirit. The human bodies and Earth body are all changing to accommodate our increased spiritual energy. We have an infinite number of spiritual vibrations to use in our transformation. Cosmic and Earth energies can be consciously manipulated to heal ourselves and our planet. Another powerful energy called Kundalini energy is also emerging from individual bodies and the planet. All of our spiritual energies transform lower physical vibrations to a higher spiritual energy for us to use in our creative process. We need to bring the body energy up to accept our high spiritual vibrations. This requires awakening to our spiritual nature.

A major lesson for spirit is how to bring your physical body to an awakened state to receive spirit without harming the body. Meditation is the way to turn within, know yourself, and heal in a safe and controlled manner. By learning to meditate and doing so daily, you awaken as spirit and heal your body. Many energies are available to help you get back to yourself, the spirit. Kundalini energy is one vibration to use to transform the physical to spiritual energy. In the book "Kundalini Energy: The Flame of Life," the chapter "Bringing the Body to An Awakened State" describes how to do this and refers to meditation as a foundation of healing. The following is an excerpt from the chapter:

"The human body is an alive, dynamic vehicle for the soul. We, as spirit, have invested a great deal of energy in the physical world and in our bodies. Many beings have lost their awareness of themselves as spirit because they have invested so much of their energy in the physical world of matter. Many have come to believe they are their bodies and that there is nothing but the physical world.

"This sleeping state is what many people on Earth are now experiencing. The lack of awareness of the spiritual nature of all things and the spirituality of humanity is the main cause of disturbance on this planet. The lack of spiritual information is perpetuating this state of unawareness. While many people seek God, they seek God outside of themselves instead of within. This outward focus for spiritual information and guidance can cause confusion and create power games and control games instead of spiritual awakening of the individual soul.
"For the soul to reawaken to its spiritual nature, it must realize that it is not its body and does not have the characteristics of the body. The body operates in time and space, is limited by effort, competition and ethics, and is mortal. The spirit operates outside of time and space, does not have competition, ethics or effort, and is immortal, to list a few of the differences. The soul needs to learn to have affinity for its body to create fully through it since the affinity for the body's characteristics helps the soul work through the medium of the body.

"The differences between spirit and body cause a great deal of confusion for many people seeking spiritual information and awakening. The person may start her spiritual opening with good intentions and end up focused on an ego trip, in pain, or in fear because she did not know the difference between spirit and body. Trying to make the body like the spirit is impossible, and trying to make spirit like the body is also impossible. Unfortunately, many people get caught in exactly that pattern. This attempt to make one like the other disrupts the natural affinity between a spirit and its body. It can make the body afraid of spirit and cause spirit to spend its energy outside of the body.

"To bring the body back to an awakened state, it is essential to recognize the differences between spirit and body and not try to make the body be like you, the spirit. A spiritually awake body is very different from a spiritually awake soul. The body's natural characteristics are intensified when the body is healed. Thus, the sexuality, emotionality, and other physical characteristics are stronger and require more spiritual attention to turn them to spiritual use. The differences between spirit and body are the same whether the soul or body is asleep or awake. The body is still mortal and the soul is still immortal. The body uses effort, time and space, and spirit does not. An awakened body is one through which the spiritual energy flows easily, and healing is constantly occurring as the spirit takes responsibility for its intensified energy field. If spirit wakens its body and does not care for it, the body can be a powerful vehicle that is out of control.

"Bringing the body to an awakened state requires healing it by clearing the lies, foreign energy, misinformation, past-time energy, and other inappropriate energies from it. It means clearing anything from your body that is not in agreement with your spiritual nature such as hate, fear, pain, and the ego that covers all of your mistakes. An awakened body is an alive body, unencumbered by the energies which deaden it, such as pain and the other energies already mentioned. Once a body begins to awaken, the healing focus must be increased so the disturbances stored in the body do not get you off your spiritual path. An awakened body is an exciting challenge to use. It is like riding a healthy, spirited horse instead of a sick, jaded one."

Our angels play a very important role in our lives.

They're assigned to us at birth and stay by our side, loving and guiding us, until we return home. There are many different types of angels, each with their own unique role to play in our lives.

Everyone loves angels and for good reason. They signify love, courage, strength and guidance. It's no wonder that people get angel tattoos, adorn their homes with Christmas angels during the holidays and make snow angels in winter. Some people think that angels only exist in heaven and don't interact with us at all.
Well, I'm here to tell you that they sure do!

First of all, did you know an angel's wings aren't use to fly, but rather to denote which phylum, or level, they're from? Each phylum has a different color wing tip. So you can always tell which angel is present by the color of their wing tips.

There are ten different phylum of angels, all with their own personality and area of specialty. You can call upon them at any time, depending on your needs. They all exist to help you while you're here.

Guardian Angels
The Guardians are the first phylum. They radiate with love and glory and appear with a beautiful white light surrounding them. The color of their wing tips is silver. The guardians are our protectors and are here to keep us safe. They assist us with our fears and phobias.

The Archangels
The Archangels are the second phylum. The four main archangels are:
1. Archangel Michael (Archangel of the South, Essence: Fire) 2. Archangel Raphael (Archangel of the East, Essence: Air) 3. Archangel Uriel (Archangel of the North: Essence: Earth) 4. Archangel Gabriel (Archangel of the West: Essence: Water)

Archangels have white wings with blue tips. Their primary purpose is healing and they're also messengers of hope.

The Archangels use a scepter to heal by touching us with it in the area of our body that needs healing.

Their totem is the wolf and their element is rain. Their stone is aquamarine.

The Cherubim and Seraphim
The third and fourth level of angels are the Cherubim and Seraphim. They're known for their beautiful singing abilities. The difference between the two is that the Cherubim have beautiful singing voice and the Seraphim possess a vibrational/tonal ability.

Together their music is indescribable and beyond words.

They are truly the most joyous phylum of angels. They have white wings with rose colored tips.

Their totem is the canary.

The Powers
The fifth phylum of angels are The Powers. Their primary purpose is healing. While the Archangels use a scepter to heal, the Powers use their wings by sheltering you within them.

The Powers use their energy to heal. The electrical force that comes from them enters your body and heals you cell by cell. They're quite large in size.

Their totem is the falcon, known for swiftness and perseverance. Their element is the moon. Their stone is the emerald, which possesses the healing color of green.

Their wings are white with greenish white tips.

The Carrions
The sixth phylum of angels are The Carrions. Their primary purpose is to escort away dark entities when they die. Their sole mission is to stand back until a dark entity passes into death.

The Carrions protect our world and The Other Side from darkness. They are the reason dead dark entities don't exist on earth.

Their totem is the raven and their element is the wind. Their stone is the opal.

The Virtues
The seventh phylum of angels are The Virtues.

The Virtues assist us with our life charts. They help us to make changes to our charts whenever needed. They also help us with our life and charts on The Other Side before we come here to Earth to live another life.

They're an incredible phylum of angels that help to guide us before we begin our journeys here on earth.

Their totem is the dove, the symbol of peace. Their stone is silver and their element is water.

They have white wings with pale blue tips and a silvery blue luminescence.

The Dominions
The eighth phylum of angels are The Dominions. They watch over us and permanently record our actions and good deeds in the Akaschic Records. They typically don't assist us on the earth plane but do their work for us on The Other Side.

When we need assistance, our spirit guides will sometimes go to The Dominions instead of The Council because of The Dominions' thorough knowledge of our charts

Their totem is the cougar, which represents strength and dignity. Their element is earth, which signifies grounding and the lives they record. Their stone is the bloodstone.

They have white wings with maroon tips.

The Thrones and Principalities
The ninth and tenth phylum are The Thrones and Principalities and are considered the highest phylum of angels. They represent Mother and Father God's armies.

The Thrones and Principalities come to us when we're in any type of danger. The Thrones are Mother God's army and The Principalities are Father God's army.

You can call upon these phylums of angels to protect you or your loved ones when in a difficult or troublesome situation.

The Thrones are more active than The Principalities, who act more as guardians-at-the-gate. The Principalities are in charge of cities and nations and are the protectors of spirituality and religion.

They have incredible power and grace and are the highest phylum of all angels.

The stars are limitless, just like every memory, thought and feeling you have ever dreamt.

There is a direct correlation between water and spirituality in several different cultures. For instance, Indians believe that water is the creative life force. The Chinese believe that water is a very strong feng shui element. In western culture, catholic churches place significant importance on water as well. According to Christianity, it is believed that pouring water over the head for the count of 3 times liberates one from the original sin. "Fountain of life" is the symbolic representation of water in Bible (Psalm 36). As discussed above, one of the initiation rituals of Baptism involves sprinkling of water over the head for purification.

Its ability to take the shape of its container is what separates water from most of the other materials. This "flexibility" of water is regarded highly among the spiritual guru's and monks. They really appreciate the ability of water to take any form whatsoever. According to Zen theory, this ability is an ultimate spiritual point in one's journey towards enlightenment.

What limits us from reaching the next level of spiritual growth is the constant chatter of mind and ego distractions. Non-attachment is a state of mind where you don't let external event bother you at all. This place of "letting whatever happen be okay" is the state where spiritual growth and enlightenment begins.

Secrets Held by Your Seven Chakras

The Chakras are energy centers of the body; they constantly regulate your energy. The main seven Chakras are the ones we tend to work with the most. These are found from the base of the spine, running up to the very top of the head.

Many people stop there though, in their knowledge and understanding of the Chakras. They never get to reveal even the tiniest secrets that the Chakra energy can be holding on to. They simply do not look deep enough or pay close enough attention to the threads of information that are sitting within their energy, missing out on being able to use that information for their own good.

One way of looking at it is that everything that has happened to you resonates somewhere in your energy field. Believe it or not even experiences from previous lives can be resonating in your energetic field, right now. I don't blame you if you find that hard to believe, I too would have been and no doubt was, sceptical before I had my own experiences and witnessed others, sharing theirs.

It is within this energy field around you that clairvoyants and psychics can 'see' all sorts of wonderful things about you. They notice the tiny threads of information and use them to unravel the messages that your energy holds. There is usually an emotional trigger or link to much of this information, which is why they can sense and grab hold of them.

It is the energy of the emotion that is causing a 'disturbance' or is waving the flag, desperately trying to get noticed. It has been my experience that this is usually because there is some unfinished business or something that needs to be brought to your conscious attention.

You don't need to be psychic to pick up on these feelings and sensations but it is a lot easier to do when you are relaxed and calm. Everyday life and routines tend to be pretty hectic, we are usually too busy to give much time to such matters. Our focus is taken over by the events that are happening right here and now.

The fact is that a lot of your learned behaviour patterns, ways of thinking and habits stem from your subconscious and when you notice that there are definite repeated patterns, cycles or events in your life that you would rather not have any more, your energy is one of the best places to look.

Your energy is directly linked to your subconscious, to me it is made up of it. Rather than look at the energy as a whole, it can easily be broken down into smaller areas, making the information much easier to interpret and understand. When you understand it, you can work to get rid of the bits you don't want, keep the bits you do and improve on or bring healing to the rest!

When I say that your Chakras are made up of energy what I mean is that they link with the energy of your physical body, your emotional energy (and emotions are powerful things) as well as your mental energy. There is so much power behind your thoughts and the images you replay in your mind.

The seven main Chakras relate to every area of your body and your experience of life. For example;
The Base Chakra; on a physical level it is directly associated with the area it is located in the body - the base of the spine, this includes not only the spine but also the legs and feet.

It is linked with your sense of survival and security, the ability to stand up for yourself, to 'stand on your own two feet'. If you follow that thread emotionally, this Chakra is linked with your feelings of vulnerability, with fear and your fight or flight responses too.

When I relate this to daily modern life, I ask "How safe do you feel?" and "What makes you feel safe?" Some of your answers might be a safe place to live, that can be the right area or location for you, it is also very much linked with your feeling safe in a financial way - can you afford to live the way you do, where you do.

Are your landlord or neighbours causing you problems or stress? When your home or 'base' is threatened by any means it is usually reflected in the Base Chakra in a whole host of different ways. There may be physical symptoms or imbalances which reflect an emotional imbalance of some kind.

The Sacral Chakra; This Chakra deals with your creativity, not just in a reproductive, physical way but also in how you flow with life and the changes or cycles it periodically presents us all with. Physically it directly links with the reproductive organs as well as the lower back.

It is very much the emotional center and can easily be pulled off balance in the experiences of daily life. This center can be affected by jealousy or possessiveness and is often hugely implicated in your relationships.

Many people look to stabilize or balance their emotions through others and deny to some extent their own needs, desires and passions, never realizing the affect they are having on their own health and existence.

I have only very briefly outlined some of the links and implications of the Chakras and the secrets they can hold about you. Each Chakra is linked with certain areas of the body and the organs within it, as well as with specific aspects of your emotional and mental wellbeing. They also are each associated with a major nerve plexus and the endocrine glands which are responsible for so many major daily functions of your body.

It is well worth becoming more familiar with each of their traits, characteristics and attributes and discovering how to work with them to further enhance your life on a daily common sense and practical basis. It is not as though you have to be a victim of your own energy, there is so much you can do to improve it.
