One question that I have been asked in whether or not the Web Hosting Data Centre's Technology can affect Search Engine Optimisation?!

The answer to that question... Is in fact yes.

The technology behind the web hosting companies can affect how well your website ranks within the search engines.

This is mainly to do with where your website hosting provider has its servers located; and whether the website which you are trying to rank for within that local area is hosted within that country.

IE. A website that you would like to rank well in the UK for a keyword should be hosted within the UK in order to get the best results.

Do search engines like three way links?

There are so many many types of links about these days, some of them are just good and honest; but, we also have people trying to use something which we all know of as; Black Hat SEO.

This is not the kind of thing that you should be using, if you want a good rank.
Play it fair, build few links, write some articles, get traffic from Social Bookmarking websites, Forums, and from friends and let the revenue build.

Building a website is never that easy without your own web host. A good website hosting company can sometimes be hard to find, but whilst looking for a good amount of web space, bandwidth, PHP, and MySQL amounts; you should take a close look at TOS.

Either way, back on subject.

The search engines, do not seem to know what a three way link is because, it looks so innocently like a normal one way link exchange to them, from two different sites.

This is always a bonus for both website owners.

Getting Back Links To Fast?

One thing that i advise against strongly, is getting to many back links to your website too fast.

Sure!, you can have a few new links here and then, but if one day you have 102 links going to your site and then a few months later, you had 1302, then this would be noticed a lot by the search engines and you may be penalized.

Keep it slow, because tricking the search engines is never good.

Search Engine Optimization is a forever continuous process, which takes both time and effort to do.

Never stop your search engine optimization (SEO) campaign; because it should all pay off in the long run, providing that you have done everything fairly and by the book.

Single Keyword VS Keyword Phrases?

In general, you are better off targeting keyword phrases, and not single words.
For instance, if you are in Website Design, you would not use "Website" as a keyword.

WHY?
This is because if you went to Google or another search engine, and typed in "Website"... There would be too many results which are more relevant than yours.

Phrases are good, because you could use the words, "Website Design", "Website Development", "Website Designer" ETC...

This is better to do, than using one word keywords, because you have more chance in the search engines with phrases, than you do with single keywords.

Warning!
When you are working on your keywords, do not stuff them into the page, tags, or alt tags. Keep them evened out.

Do NOT stuff them in, keep everything in proportion and do your best to make sure you do a little research on your competition first.

Why not to use Frames!

Frames... Or I-Frames, are a real pain when it comes to doing your search engine optimization work.

Search Engines do not tend to like Frames, I-Frames or Remote Forms.
(Because it is hard for them to index the frame based objects.)

Use your own form and data sources if possible to help the search engines index all of your content.

I have been asked this question on many occasions, so i thought that i would share a tip with you all and allow you to follow in the footsteps of many other people who were once webmasters and now are earning a fair bit of money each month.

After you have lots of good content and you have/are optimizing your website; you can start looking for companies or organizations who allow you to place your advertisements on your website and pay you... Either for doing so, or for each click that someone makes on that advertisement.

I have been using Google Adsense for a while now and the service that they provide is not only reliable, but also fair.

They pay you on a "Pay Per Click" basis.

BUT!!! If you are found to clicking your own links or telling others to do it for you, means that you are breaking their TOS.

It has been a little while since i have been doing a lot of work on my websites search engine optimization and i believe that everything that i have been doing is starting to pay off.

I have been monitoring my website stats and have seen a fairly dramatic amount of new traffic coming to my website.

This means that all the work i have been doing on search engine optimization is starting to pay off.

Over the next few months and furthermore, I intend to keep on optimizing my website over time and adding more and more content.

Search Engines, love fresh content and will index your website more often if you always have fresh content for them, each time they come...

My Search Engine Optimization Tasks

Over the last few weeks, i have been looking at my website and those that i work on and seeing what i could do to make them more search engine optimized.

My main aim online is to make new acquaintances, make business deals and new corporate partners.

Whilst doing this, i learn many things and i have taken a keen interest into the search engine industry; including, domain names (URLS), data centres, Link Sales, Website Directories, Advertising and website programming.

As you can see from this blog, i take all of these into account and do my best to give a step by step guide for webmasters which is not only simple to understand, but teaches many new methods which you they can use.

Whether i am working on HTML, PHP or MySQL (Databases); I am still working with the search engine optimization and website hosting business to learn new things and to write guides for others.

Linking on other blogs?

I have been thinking that linking on other blogs would be a good way to get some quality back links to your website or blog.

If you were to be a good content writer and keep all of your websites/blogs updated on a daily/weekly basis then i am sure that you could make some very good links back to your website/blogs.

Creating a blog ring in which all of your blog content is related and then linking all of your blogs together is a great way to get your website found and ranked well.

This is an interesting idea, but i wonder if it could be pulled off well.

There are many theories on whether or not being NO.1 on the search engine results page (SERP) is he best or not.

In my opinion and that of a few others, you should be looking at getting within the positions on 3-10.

I believe that this is due to the fact that various amounts of being who are looking for something online, also like to have a shop about and see what else is up for offer.

When you are working on your search engine optimization, you should do your best and not hold back.

Just do not use any SEO Tricks to trick or betray the search engine.
You need to be honest, and true to what your content is.

This is the best way to get a good ranking within the search engine's.

Many people would say that if you do alot of work, then it is better than only doing a small bit of work.

I believe that this is incorrect, therefore... When you are doing work on your website or making some changes to how your website is search engine optimized then take a step back and do things basicly.

Doing to much can have adverse effects on your site or search engine rank.

Take things slowly and make sure that you do not over do things or use blackhat SEO tricks because it will not help at all.

I have found that when you are doing your search engine optimization work; that it is much easier to do it slowly and think about everything that you are doing.

Take a moment to breath and do not rush things... (Rushing makes things inaccurate!)

Do your research first, then plan your work out, think about everything you are doing and make sure that you keep the correct spelling and grammer with everything you write.

The three way link exchange?

Well, over the forth coming days and over the last few weeks i have been requesting and accepting three way link exchanges.

I have found that this is a good way for both "Parties" to obtain a one way link on the site of their choice.

One way links are considered more valuable than two way links, so i do my best to achieve this to help out other webmasters and myself.

Getting a good page rank can be very hard without good content and back links to your website.

Over time, these links shall grow and be counted by google, therefore helping to increase your websites page rank.

I recommend that you take a look at this idea and take it into consideration as it is a good thing.

How to use forums, blogs and articles to obtain backlinks?

Now, in a previous section of my blog, (Which you reading...) ; I talk about getting backinks to your website to help your position on the search engine results page and to help improve your websites page rank.

Forums have been well known to be a good place to discuss matters of all kinds of topics and i believe that if you are being relevant with where you place your website link, then this could be a good backlink to your website without being classed as a spammer.

The same applies blogs; But with a blog, you can also create and write your own content and provide backlinks to boht yourself, but also others.
(Use this blog for three way link exchanges!)

There are so many ways to do this, but the simle way is to comment on forums and blogs about topics which are relevant to your website; and whilst doing this, just place your website link in there for reference.

You can write an article and post it on your own website or on a varied range of article websites, in which you get a link back to your website (For free, most of the time), just by submitting your article and supplying this fresh content.

Before submitting an article, check it through for spelling and grammer issues; because a scrappy piece of work is never any use...

It has been some time now since Google released the Google Webmaster Tools Section for webmasters and site owners alike.

Google Webmaster Tools have various diognosic and research tools for your websites or those that you manage;

These tools are very useful when looking towards working on your Search Engine Optmization and increasing your websites page rank.

I can use various Statistics, diagnostics and management tools, sitemap submission and website reporting through the Google Webmaster Tools.

Getting Backlinks?

In order to help your site get a good Page Rank and get a good Search Engine Rank Position and end up nicely in the top ten of the Search Engine Page Results for your chosen keyword or phrase, you must get quality backlinks to your website.

Backlinks, do not only make it easier for the search engine to find your website, but they also count as a vote towards your website and the more quality backlinks that you have, mean that you are getting a better rank over time.

This is providing that you update your website fairly regularly and keep good content there.

The websites that link to you may want an exchange, but this means that you have to link to them aswel; These links are still valued by the Search Engines and still work towards making your website Search Engine Optimized, but they have less value than the one way links that we firstly spoke about.

Look for directories or websites which may find your website an information source and will link without an exchange, or take that option and exchange links.

You can use various social networking websites, forums, blogs and other websites to help build up backlinks to your website.

The search engines must be able to read these backlinks, otherwise they are not counted.

When you are starting your search engine optimization campaign, you must take a look at what keywords your direct and in-direct competition are using.

Do some research on your competitors and check how they have laid things out, see how many links go back to their website and where from. (If they link to them, they might link to you).

Make sure that you do not just copy their content; trawl through their source code and see what makes their website tick... (Please be aware that if they have a site built on PHP then you may not see everything within the code)

Use their own tactics against them, but do various pieces of research and get the upper hand on them in order to win.

There are so many companies that tell you that if you host with them, then you will get a better search engine ranking; This is incorrect!, because they are no better than many other hosts and they cannot guarantee what they are always offering.

There are so many website hosting companies and they all do the same thing.

Is Google De-Valuing Link Directories?

There have been talks for weeks about Google, taking those steps to de-value link directories and the links that are contained within them.

Search Engine Watch Forums Moderator, DaveN, feels that Google is targeting directories, by that he means, devaluing the links from directories. He bases this statement on the large amount of recent data he collected. For those not familiar with DaveN, he is someone who might be referred to as an "algo chaser." In other words, he is one of the guys that make the search engines better by exposing loopholes within the algorithms.

Of course, most of us would just push off such a statement. Google, Yahoo, Ask, MSN and all the search engines recommend getting quality inbound links. Some even say that you should get them from directories. Heck, Yahoo and MSN promote paid directories, Google uses the ODP.

But if one would think about it more. The way this industry has been going follows this sort of pattern. Search engines like variable X. Some SEOs look for ways to exploit the variable X. Search engines have to move away from liking X and then move on to Y. The process repeats, over and over again. So maybe DaveN is right.

A Sitemap; But why do i need one?

Sitemaps are an easy way for you to inform search engines about your website pages and show that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file which lists the URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

Web crawlers/Spiders; usually discover pages from links within the site and from other sites. Sitemaps supplement this data to allow crawlers that support Sitemaps to pick up all URLs in the Sitemap and learn about those URLs using the associated metadata.

Using a sitemap does not guarantee that your website will get listed, but makes it easier for the search engines to navigate your site.

See, the thing is; that no one is able to guarantee you top places in the search engines, Therefore, all of those companies that say that can are lying to you.

How to get a good ranking on the Search Engine Results Pages?

In order to get a good rank or position here; you need to first choose the keyword, or set of keywords which you would like to rank well with.

Now that you have those keywords in mind, you can start to work a little more on optimizing your website so that the Search Engine picks up those keywords.

Take a look at your URL (Your web address)…
For best results, you should have at least one of your keywords here.
If you have not got a domain yet, try to get one or two keywords within it; but remember that it needs to be easy to remember and use.

Working with your page content is the next step and at this point you should be thinking about re-writing some of the content on your website, so that it contains a few keywords but still makes sense and is not just stuffed with them!

Make sure that you use good keywords within your internal linking, as Search Engines look for these also and tell them a little more about your web sites content.

Get some back links because these are very important in making your get a good position on the Search Engine Results Page. (One way links are better than exchanges)
The best way to do this is through Forums; Blog’s and Article websites. But do not post in irrelevant posts or just place them randomly.
Make sure they have a reason there, something relevant with the conversation.
