I'm going to write this as if no one will read it. So the other day I had a thought as I was running to my car late one night... I was thinking about if someone were to run out randomly and hurt me... I think like this a lot. Sometimes I imagine a person trying to run me over with their car.. its a sense of doom.. it sucks.. but its not like I am afraid. I feel nothing. Like ya someone come beat the snot out of me ill get up and act like nothing happened.. moved on... and that scares me. Nothing upsets me anymore. Or if it does it fades the next day and its like it never happened.. like what happened was so horrible everything else is pale next to it. Then today my co worker gave me her really expensive perfume because she knew I was so upset I broke mine. I was so happy on the way home thinking about how life has put me in a place where people care and I remember feeling so much like there was no way that was going to happen again. And I was so appreciative on that moment.. when it hit me.. I see the bad less then it is and appreciate the good more then I ever would have before it happened.. I say that's a good thing.. and instead of stressing on parts of me feeling as if they are broken.. realizing they just changed.. and I might not ever change so accept it and see it as a good thing. Its who I am now.. even if it was man made.

I had a weird anxiety feeling in my chest earlier today... I got upset because I couldn't figure out what I was upset about.. Everything was OK.. Then I started daydreaming about losing ten pounds and I literally forgot I was upset.

Who else does this? I am not the only one, sometimes I get upset when my fantasies about being skinny are interrupted by idk.. things like life.. and people wanting to do annoying things like.. talk to me.. and stuff.. For some reason though, no matter what is going on, I would rather be daydreaming in my head.

I think the most appealing part about looking forward all the time is that I can make myself be whatever I want, and seen however I want.. It all just takes time. I don't want people to recognize me when I go back home. I want everyone to forget the fat person that left a year ago. I know that it matters to them for less then a second when they see me, but for some reason this shit matters to me. I fucking hate it. I don't think its fair that my fantasies include being comfortable in a bathing suit and comfortable with my boyfriend, not just comfortable but proud. This is my top desire and its pathetic. I tell myself that over and over, I know its stupid, I know it doesn't matter.. but I am 5'5 and I weigh 122 pounds. I am a size 2 or 3 and I still feel like a fucking cow with my shirt off.

I am not crazy, I know how my body looks, I can see it, I can see how other girls bodies look. I can see how much better they look.. so needless to say when people try and tell me I look great I get annoyed because I can't fucking see what the hell they are talking about. I am getting upset thinking about it now as I type this. Why the hell can't I have a body that I can stand to look at without wanting to throw up or cry after seeing it for more then 3 seconds.

I don't want people to tell me I look good, I want to fucking look good. It is not a mental problem or deep-seated daddy issue. I think that I deserve to have a body I fucking love, I think everyone does. It seems like people who weigh 20 pounds more then I do carry their weight great.. I am learning as I shed pounds that I still look like the same me just slightly smaller. I feel like I want to hack the parts of my body that I don't like off I am so at my wits end. I have been dealing with this since 6th grade and I just want to be at the finish line. I can feel it.. maybe 10 more pounds, but I am starting to realize that I just don't have the body I want, no matter how much I lose..

So I was browsing Hubpages questions section which I really love to do, when one really kept my attention. I already answered the question, along with many other people, to the best of my ability but I keep thinking about it so I thought why not write an article about it?

The question was a long the lines of a mom asking if she should punish her 17 year old daughter for having sexwith her long term boyfriend. I am not going to answer this question specifically here because I have already done that, but I am going to make a general guideline about what I think you should do when it comes to yourteens and their sex lives.

I will reference my own personal experience with this topic to give you a better understanding of why it stuck with me so much. I was always told that sex was out of the question when I was growing up, not until I was married anyway. That was literally all my mom ever said about it, until I was older and basically said "hey mom this is happening and you don't have control of it." My sister was always told the same thing also and now we have my beautiful baby niece Faith.

Now my sister was the same age I am now (21) when she got pregnant and no it was not anyones fault or anything like that I certainly don't blame my mom. I have gotten along fine learning for myself, but I just can't help to wonder how thing would have been better if I didn't feel like my mom would disown me if she knew who I really was. Where did all my mom's over barring parenting style get us? I moved out, not exactly on the best terms. There is a lot more that goes with all that, but we had a rocky period of time because I was just too afraid to tell my parents anything.

Now I am gong to just be blatant and say that a lot of this will have a religiousconflict. IF you are religious and your main issue with your child having sex is that you want them to wait till marriage, you better get a grip. Teenagers are going to have sex no matter what you teach them.

Continuing on this point but diverting away from the religious topic, yes there is no way for you to stop your teenager from having sex if they want to. Even if you put all the restrictions on them in the world, watch them like a hawk, and are sure you just KNOW your precious little angle would never be caught dead doing the nasty!

Would you stop having sex because your mom didn't approve? Do you really think that before a teenager is about to have sex they are even considering what their mom or dad has told them? Guess what, there are a million places teenagers have sex. Oh you thought it was OK to let them go to a after school function? Oh you thought since it was a walkathon for cancer there was no reason for them not to go? Well turns out because you never gave them a chance to be alone or understand why its gross, they are now having sex in the porta potty next to the football field. This is not a fake story, this is one of the million stories about people having sex wherever they can. That same person, had sex in that porta potty during school hours, so now are you going to home school your kid?

On top of that, what about protection? Are you relying on the schools to tell them about that also? The schools wait way too long if they even do at all to give out any kind of sexual education seminars. Usually that is only one time, ever. So if you don't tell them, or they don't take the time on their own to research it (usually when they are thinking they may need to buy a pregnancy test) the only information they know is what they have been told in one seminar.. and what everyone else has told them. You would not believe the crap that spreads around the school about sex. I had friends using plastic wrap because they didn't have condoms, and were afraid their parents would find them. Well you may not know this, and they didn't either obviously, but plastic wrap has tiny holes in it! You might as well not have used anything.

So getting to my point. I am not telling you to constantly sit down and lecture your teens about the practices of safe sex, they don't want that either. Just don't make sex a negative thing, That is all there is to it. If you treat it like a natural act that EVERYONE does, your worries will be cut in half. What would you rather do? Keep your kid under lock and key, but they are STILL having sex, but you just don't know where, with who, and if they are being safe? Now your child is isolated and is afraid to ask you for help if they need it for fear of punishment. OR you could let it be OK and educated them and KNOW you are not going to have that horrible conversation later.. mom.. I'm preg.. And you now have a healthy happy relationship with your kid.

Honesty and communication is what is important in any relationship, why would it be different for your kids. No I don't mean communication like you print out a list of talking points on how to talk to your kid about sex. I mean sit down and talk to them, like they are a person. Tell them what you worry about and what you are thinking, unedited and not thought out.

The only time I ever really listened to my parents was when they talked to me like they were real people. People who mess up just like everyone else, and to take it easy on you because you just want what they want, for them to be happy right?

Some REAL Tips on Being A Good, Genuine Boyfriend.

I don't know everything but I can start with my own experiences and opinions.

I like to use the suggested word link feature on hubpages I link as many different articles as possible. I don't really know if anyone clicks on them but I usually end up reading the persons entry if I link it to my page. I like adifferent range of posts and usually add it before I read it.

I don't really mind this post, it is called "Sweet Things To Say To Your Girlfriend" I saw the title and added it. The reason I still don't mind it that much now is because it is better then the usual hubs I am used to seeing. With vindictive titles about how to get back at your ex or cheat on your significant other. I don't like those at all so I would say I can't complain about this post.

I do really disagree with it though.

In his hub he says you should sharesweet things with the person you love. I agree that is all nice and everything but, when you keep reading it gives you these little phrases you should say to your girlfriend.

It mirrors the similar lingo they use on pet help blogs, "Remember your dog needs to know you love them, so make sure you praise them constantly and give them treats." BLAH! What woman wants to be talked to that way? If has worked in the passed for you I am guessing the woman didn't understand what she was missing.

Does this really work? Not in myexperience, not the ones you want to spend any kind of real time with anyway.

I noticed a couple comments that were left on the hub, giving examples of everyday phrases we have all heard a million times. "I was looking at the stars and I was pairing each one with a reason of why I love you but I ran out ofstars." OK so that is sweet. I understand it is the idea behind it, but really thats not much of an idea. That didn't take much work. How much work does it take to say you love someone? I can say it right now, I love you I love you I love you.

We are not your pets, and we are not as stupid or easy to swoon as you think. It is only easy if you are really in love. If you are really in love you don't need to look up these sweet little phrases. Just show her. Have sex with her. Girls want to feel wanted just as much as the next person.

In the post he suggest telling her hewants to take her on a romantic trip. Thats nice. Really that is all I think. I want to do lots of things what is your point? That is really sweet, if you tell her why and what you want to do. Otherwise how is thatpersonal? Why not actually take her somewhere instead. Or if you can't afford that, which I can completely understand, don't just mention this vague random trip you want to take them on. Make it specific to both of you, and say why, for example that you want to be alone with her.. whatever your reasons are. You know why you are with her and no one can sit here and give you a list of reasons why you love your significant other.

It is all about being genuine and about being honest. Don't mindlessly tell yourgirlfriend you think she is beautiful. whatever you feel about her looks say it. If you think she looks extra pretty at a moment say it then. Don't say it when you feel like you haven't said it in a while. Its better for you too, because now you are actually taking time to appreciate your relationship in an honest way.

Hey I am no expert on this stuff. Every girl is different, but in my experience I have seen girls complain that they felt like their boyfriend didn't want them sexually more then anything else. No matter how many times my female friends boyfriends told them how beautiful they were it wasn't enough. They wanted to feel wanted. If you want them, and they want to feel wanted, why not show them! Its not so complicated, girls aren't from another planet like a lot of people like to speculate, in fact that is the problem.

Woman are not as different from men as everyone thinks, and this type of thinking is part of the problem. When you approach a girl like she is an alien you are only going to say these mechanical phrases you have always been told girls want to hear. Men want there egos boosted, right? Well so do women, figure out how to do that and you are golden.

My Chat with Ice-T's Girlfriend

I do know that people lie about all kinds of things, I will preference this entry with that. For some reason though I really don't believe this woman was lying.

So I was working a lot and really wanted to go somewhere nice to have my hair done. I did all my research and found the best place I could.

I made an appointment and got lost looking for it but a really nice woman helped me find my way, lucky for me she was going to be doing my hair.

It was a really nice place but I always feel uneasy at hair salons, like everyone is staring at me and I feel out of place. My hair dresser finally convinced me to let her get me one of their fancy shmancy drinks.

I ended up having a great time talking with the woman about everything you can imagine, when she brought up her own relationships and that she was now married.

She then went on to ask me if I had ever heard of the rapper Ice-T. I mean it sounded familiar but honestly I had no idea.

Turns out she dated the guy! I almost spit out my fancy fruit flavored ice cubes! She went on and on about how everyone would think dating a musician would be fun and exciting but how wrong they are.

My favorite story she told was one where they were both laying around their house and he was supposed to perform for some event. He didn't even want to move to get off the couch but she forced him.

When he got there he performed just like you would think with all this energy and all the girls were going crazy for him. Her response was, "hey you can have him, you can fight over the remote every night i'm done!"

Well i know Ice-Tea now. Apparently it came out he has a kid no one knew about and he was arrested for masturbating outside of a strip club.

All I wonder when I here that story is, damn how many clients did that woman proudly tell she dated Ice-T, just for him to come back into the news for masturbating in public.

Sometimes I can't even believe the hilarious shit that happens these days.

All the Negative Effects of Birth Control No One Tells You About

Let me say before I launch into all of this that everything I say is from personal experience and from my own research. So take what you want from this but it is going to be really personal and honest.

So you are wondering what kind of birth control will work best for you right? I will just be the girl to say it, condoms suck! Especially those cheap ones they dish out like candy on Halloween at planned parenthood. I mean you can't feel anything and you worry it will break, its so uncomfortable.. do I really need to continue?

So whats next? Well usually girls go for the birth control pill. Seems like a great idea, it will clear your acne, make your periods lighter, cramps lighter, and all you have to do is take this magic pill. So I did that I went and got the pill and took it, well you have to take it at the same time every day, oh and with food, otherwise you will feel incredibly sick. Oh and speaking of food, did I mention you will be eating a lot more of it now? You know why? Because the pill makes you crazy hungry, and most girls end up gaining weight.

So now you have to take the pill everyday at the same time, with food.. You are gaining weight, oh and your sex drive has changed. Did the doctor warn you of any of this? I remember talking to a woman who was a councilor for a nutrition business. We were talking about birth control pills one day, I don't know why really, and she told me about how she lost her mind on the pill. Apparently it made her flip out at her 5 year old son for telling her he was hungry. She locked him in his room and then curled up in the fetal position and cried. She had no idea why but she just wanted to cry all the time.

So a lot of you might know the pill and its drawbacks. So do you come to the next thing I did? The depo shot? I thought about it had a higher pregnancy prevention percentage, Come to find out the only reason that it is considered any better then the pill is because most people forget to take it at the same time everyday. If you do take it like you are supposed to it has the exact same amount of effectiveness. The drawbacks on the shot are way worse really, you gain more weight, more mood swings, and even bleed for weeks. I heard at least 4 accounts of people I know personally who got the shot and was told that their "spotting" all month was normal. One of them had to spend 3 months straight wearing a pad.

That is not counting everything I have read about it online. I mean is it worth it? The shot last for what 3 months? I would be terrified after how I felt on the pill.

Now it to the worst one of all. Nuvaring. Let me just tell you about this thing that almost ruined my life. So like I said I went through all of these options, I even had the printout they give you at planned parenthood. It tells you all the different pros and cons of each birth control. Well me thinking I was all smart made a good ration decision based on what they showed me to start on nuvaring.

Well that is when it started. I wanted to die every single day, the depression was horrible. I would fight with my boyfriend over every thing you could think of and cry constantly even if I had no reason. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Finally one day my boyfriend suggested that maybe it was the nuvaring. DUH. The nuvaring is so convenient you don't even think about it. It is a glow stick thing you stick inside you and forget about until 3 weeks later, take it out have your period.

Well did some much needed research. Turns out all I saw were testimonies after testimonies of people saying things like, "YOU AREN'T CRAZY ITS THE RING!!!" What a relief! It was until I kept reading. So apparently it takes months for these hormones to leave your body. I only had the ring in for a month and its been a while now and I still am not sure if I feel normal yet. What a way to really mess with your body! They even trick you and say that because the ring is centralized closer to your uterus there is less of a conflict with your brain and emotions. NO WAY. Nuvaring is a very high dose of hormones. It will also make you gain weight and give you headaches.

Now there are some other methods out there, for example, Mirena but you usually have to have had a baby to get that. Also that is 5 years and I can only imagine the negative effects that would have on you.

The patch is about the same as the pill, but iv heard nothing but bad things about it, for example IT FALLS OFF! I mean some of these choices seem like jokes. Maybe I am being overly critical but until the constant "teen pregnancy" exploitation BS stops I wont stop. Everything I just said is the reason girls are getting pregnant. Birth control sucks! Yes there are other contributing factors to teen pregnancy but I know that iv bought myself and other scared girls pregnancy test for all of these reasons.

Now after saying all that, not everyone has these negative effects, blah blah blah. The thing is no one will even tell you about their possibility until its too late.

So what is the answer? I really don't know. I guess condoms for now huh. Happy safe sex hunting :)

Cream Cheese Cheddar Cheese Bean Dip in 15 Minutes

I have never made this and any been left over, people love it! This recipe is a general guideline on how to make it but you can switch around the proportions to your liking, or make more, its very easy and quick!

Ingredients:

-Butter

-2 cans of refried beans (small cans)

-1 8oz bar of cream cheese

-1 cup favorite grated cheese

-Taco seasoning

-Favorite hot sauce

-Tortilla chips

Preparation: This only takes about 15 minutes to make!

Heat up the oven to 400

grease a medium oven safe pan

Step One:

Get a decent sized sauce pan and heat up a quarter of a stick of butter. When the butter and pan are heated some dump in the cream cheese. It will be hard to mix until it has heated up some.

Step Two:

Heat the cream cheese over medium-high heat until it is all melted and blended with the butter, you will have to mixed the cream cheese a lot to get it to a smooth consistency.

Step Three:

Pour the cream cheese into your oven safe pan, then pour your refried beans into the pan that the cream cheese was just in. Heat the beans for a little bit. You don't have to wash the pan or anything between uses because it is all going to be mixed together anyway, but you may want to add butter or spray the pan to keep the beans from sticking.

Step Four:

Mix in the taco seasoning and hot sauce to your liking. You might not need to use the entire bag of seasoning depending on how much you are making and how strong you want it. I usually use tapatio for the hot sauce but you are free to use whatever kind you like. I only use this because that is usually what is laying around lol.

Step Five:

Turn off the heat and add the beans to your oven pan with cream cheese. Mix the bean and cream cheese together but not completely. There should still be pockets of cream cheese. I like a lot of cream cheese but it is really up to you.

Step Six:

Cover the top of the bean dip with shredded cheese and bake until the cheese is melted on the top.

Take it out and let it cool a little bit. Eat the dip warm though it is the best this way.

If you are taking this somewhere like a pot luck or party I would make a lot because it always looks like more then it is and it goes quick! Even if it doesn't stay hot it is good cold, and it can easily be reheated!

If you want to make your own tortilla chips:

Ingredients:

-Corn tortillas (Thin)

-Salt

-Olive oil

Preheat your oven to 400

Cut tortillas into four pieces each. Then brush the front and back of each with oil and salt and bake for about 7 minutes. Check it frequently though so you don't over cook them, they will get harder as they cool.

You can also deep fry your chips in oil, that is a little more difficult but really good. To test to see if the oil is hot enough dip the side of a tortilla in it to see if it bubbles if it does then its ready. Also make sure to salt your chips right when they come out of the fryer so the salt sticks.

I also like to make my taco shells this way. You just put the entire taco shell in the oil and use tongs to fold it in the shape of a taco shell while it is frying.

On CNN Pierce Morgan interviewed Ricky Gervais about his views on being an atheist. Gervais explains that people who are not atheist should not be offended when he jokes about not believing in god. What appealed to me about this is not the atheist aspect or Gervais, that is how I found the video, but that is not what struck me about it. I find it baffling that this needs to be clarified. If you were to watch anything Ricky Gervais does you realize that he is never really that offensive when it comes to religion. Religious people aren’t really offended they just grab onto that phrase for dear life. They think that it makes them look poor and defenseless, when really they are the majority and we are the minority.

I can speculate as to what is really going on here. People are afraid and mad when people openly admit to not believing in god. Imagine being taught that not believing in god is the worst thing you can do, ever in your life. It is so bad that it never even crosses your mind that there might not be a god, that isn’t even an option. You have been taught that the BEST thing you can do is believe in god without question, even if it means dying saying he is real when you could have saved your life to deny it. It is that engrained in them. I talk about it so emotionally because that is what I was told my entire life and if that wasn’t bad enough I believed it. When I was younger I saw an interview Bill Maher did with Larry King. He gave his reasoning for being atheist, and what I got out of it was this: who is the better person? The person who is a good person because if they aren’t they will be severely punished with torture and fire, OR the person who is a good person because they just think they should be. It is understood that you will benefit from being good to others, just because you would want to be treated that way. Not just who is a better person but what makes more sense? That would scare anyone.

The issue is when a Christian declares that they are Christian they are actually saying; my religion is better than yours. People can take that offensively, especially religions like Hinduism, with people who believe that you can worship in whatever ever way you want, some of them are Christians. They believe in the same religion that condemns them to hell for eternity for being Hindu. When an atheist says they don’t believe in any of it they aren’t saying that, they aren’t making these attacks. In fact, that is one of the reasons I hate religion, things like that, the hating and the fighting. All over something imaginary, different religions poke and pick at each other. I as an atheist am not trying to pick at this disgusting scab that is religion, I want to put pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding.

I am not offended when other people say they believe in god so why are they offended when it is reversed? I cannot speak for them but I have no fear in what I believe. There is nothing someone could tell me to change my mind. I am not afraid to defend my position or for it to be challenged, in fact I welcome it. Learning and questioning is important to stay grounded. Hey, please believe what you want, really it is ok we don’t mind. But please don’t lie and say you are offended when we say hey, we don’t believe what you do, because you aren’t. How am I supposed to argue against “offended”? It’s a cop out.

How to Make Easy Cheese Tomato Sauce (Mac and Cheese!)

Only takes 20 minutes or so to prepare

Creamy homemade cheese tomato sauce and spaghetti

I made this up for our dinner tonight when my boyfriend and I couldn't find anything to eat. I really like it so I am going to share it with you :)

(Any * is extra information noted at the bottom of this blog entry)

Ingredients Required:

-Cooked Noodles (any kind)

-Water (equal parts with cheese)

-Any Cheese That melts (equal parts -with water)

-Milk 2% (to taste/consistency)

-Tomato Paste

-Oregano (to taste)

-Salt (to taste)

-Butter (to taste)

Suggested ingredients (all to your taste):

-Onions

-Garlic

Step 1: Heat water in medium sauce pan. I would start with about 2 cups (about half of how much sauce you want), and wait for it to eat up, not boiling though. (Always cook the sauce first it will come out better if it’s on the stove for a while)

Step 2: While you wait for it to heat up grate your favorite kind of cheese, or if you are like me and hate grating cheese you can slice it up if you like. I used cheddar cheese because that is what we had, but you can use more than one kind if you want. I would use enough cheese so that the water is a little thin, you may have to experiment start out with equal parts though. When the water is heated up pour the cheese in and whisk it together until melted. Turn the heat down to low now.

Step 3 (optional): I put onions* and garlic* in my sauce. Cook those on the side in a pan with some butter. Cook all the way make sure not to burn them though, especially the garlic. (don’t forget about your cheese and water keep it mixed)

Step 4: Cook noodles in large pot with very salty water*. I used spaghetti we had cooked and saved a few days ago lol. I made sure not to overcook the noodles also, keep checking it and drain it right when it’s cooked all the way.

Step 5: After stirring the water and cheese for about 5 minutes (just until all melted and well blended) add milk. You can pour in as little or as much as you want, but start off with about a half a cup you can always add cheese or flour* if you add too much milk, it will still come out good if the proportions aren't perfect.

Step 6: Add whatever extra ingredients you want (I added my garlic and onions) and oregano. I like a lot of oregano but you can decide how much I put in about five good shakes.

Step 7: When your pasta is cooked and drained pour the pasta back into the pan you cooked it in with half a stick to a full stick of butter (enough to coat pasta). You can keep the heat on low if you have trouble mixing the butter and noodles together. Leave it and continue whisking cheese sauce until well blended.

Step 8: Add a jar of tomato paste. I only had one can but I wouldn’t mind adding maybe half of another one, again it is up to you and what you like. After you added tomato paste whisk the sauce and add milk and cheese to your liking. I like to keep the sauce on the stove for a really long time but that isn’t necessary if you are in a hurry, you can mix it until it is just blended if you would like.

Step 9: I always keep my sauce and pasta separate until I eat it so grab a bowl of plain noodles and pour sauce on top. I keep them refrigerated separately also, the butter will keep the noodles from sticking together when it’s in the fridge.

Mistakes I Made:

-I cut myself on the lid of the tomato paste
-I forgot to cook the onions and garlic first and just added them to the sauce right away. It came out OK but I think it would be better to cook them first.

-I was experimenting and adding as I was going and I ended up with a ton of extra sauce.

Some Helpful Tips:

*I used 1 clove of garlic; the easiest way to cut garlic is to:

1: Use large cook knife, place clove of garlic on cutting board and lay your knife flat on top of the clove BE CAREFUL and place your palm on the flat part of the knife on top of clove.

2: Press the clove with your palm and knife hard, it will be easy now to peel off the skin, make sure to cut the “woody” part at the end and cut garlic into small pieces it will be easier to cut since it's crushed :).

Grandpa Joe

*very salty water: Always add salt to the water when you're cooking pasta. Be careful not to put too much, but once you boil pasta it is hard to add salt to it. (My grandpas reasoning anyway lol)

*Flour:

I added flour to my sauce but that is a preference, be careful about adding flour because the sauce can come out with a weird texture, if you want your sauce to be thicker I would suggest adding more tomato paste.

*I prefer white onions in all my cooking but it is your own preference. White onions just have a clean taste.

A Funny Confession Story

I was Catholic.
First communion happens when you are in third grade, and the rule is that you have to go to confession before you can receive communion. Great for me huh? There was a long line of terrified third graders lining the wall of the church. we were all here for our first confession and no one felt prepared. See I didn't do too much research before writing this blog because I want to talk about just what I remember... It sucked.

   There was a certain "protocol" that goes with confession that I wasn't aware of until right before I was rushed to the church. We all panicked and asked around to see who knew what we were supposed to do. Through word of mouth we all figured it was something like, go in sit down say "bless me father for I have sinned, it has been blank since my last confession." then say the "act of contrition," say all your sins, receive your penance and then you are out of there scott free. My problem was I didn't know the "act of contrition" and had about 5 minutes to learn it and memorize it.
   I wasn't too worried until I was switched to another line! Now I was in line for the head priest, the one I had know my entire life, the one I could not stand.
I opened the confession door and I saw the priest hands on his lap, but not his face. I had an option I realized, I could sit behind the screen and he wouldn't see me. I would feel so much better not looking him in the eyes, so I head towards the side with the screen.
If only things were that easy, hes wasn't having any of this "privacy" thing and asked that I sit with him face to face. Ass hole. Glad I can say that now, wish I could have said it then.
My hands were shaking.
   "uh.. father.. bless me.. father. for I uuuhhh.."
I stuttered my way through the first part of the "protocol" just barely.
Now I had to say the act of contrition. I wanted to run out of the room and cry I couldn't remember and I was so afraid of being in trouble. The priest looked at me confused now because I had been staring at the floor for a while now. I just started what I knew..
"omg im sorry for the sins with all my heart..umm.. ya really sorry.."
   The priest had been dealing with kids all day and just seemed more irritated at how long I was taking more than anything. He told me just to tell him all of my sins now and my heart stopped. All I had been thinking about was what to say before I forgot about what to actually say for my sins. I winged it and said as many general things as I could, lying, disobeying, and yelling at my brother and sister. I had a million other thoughts and things I could have said but I just couldn't I was dizzy from being nervous and I just wanted out of that stuffy room. I said my hail marys and our fathers and left.
   If anything I see how the churches uses confession to its advantage in so many ways. The priest gets a parishioners at his weakest moment, he is telling all his secrets. The priest then uses this to convince them that god is their answer, the church, prayer, even the priest. It seemed to me like a good way for the priest to get every single kid alone in that confession room for an undesigned amount of time. Not even jumping on the band wagon that he is going to rape these kids or anything. The thing is parents don't realize is they protect their children from everything that can hurt them, PHYSICALLY. But what about their minds? What about the brain washing and horror stories kids are told from this "sacred" bible. Ya I am not buying it. My kids will know and make their own choices. I will tell them because I still wonder to this day.. Why the HELL didn't anybody save me. What kind of system says you will burn in hell forever if you even step a toe out of line.. Yet says god is all forgiving and as long as you get that visit in with your priest before you die you will spend forever in heaven? People believe this crap. They really do, it worries me some.

Church is Pointless

This is a little bit of a rant.

I wish I could get back all that time I waisted sitting in church and in Sunday school. I was Catholic and we didn’t call it Sunday school though it was on Tuesday and it was called CCD. 3pm every Tuesday after regular school my friend Tayrns (pronounced Tearin[s]) mom would pick me up. Class didn’t start untill four but Tayrns mom was also a CCD teacher so she had to be there before everyone else. I didn’t have any other ride so we would sit through the teachers meeting for half an hour then go to class for another hour. I feel like the reason no one really tells you how pointless these classes are is because no one can remember them. I sure can’t really remember what we did. I just remember begging my mom not to make me sit through those boring classes anymore.

For some reason it was required that we bring our bibles to class every week. I have no idea why because I think I only ever used mine once to kill a fly. Even if we had read from the bible I don’t think the teachers even understood what they were reading, first of all, they weren’t teachers! They were parents! A bunch of parents got together and “taught” all the kids about the bible. Ya that never happened, I never learned anything. I know more about the bible now that I’m atheist then when I was religious.

I remember bits and pieces, like being lectured at by young “hip” teens about why god was cool. One guy ate a banana with the peel still on it for some reason, something to do with god I’m sure. Never got through though, and I know it wasn’t just me. I guarantee if you took every kid who was at that “seminar” none of them would remember why he ate it only that he was stupid for doing it. That seminar was supposed to be a camping retreat for my confirmation; instead we were all packed into a school gym for ten hours with religious “councilors.” I wonder where all that money that was being donated went to?

8 years of CCD, church, special confirmation classes and a ten hour seminar later… I still wasn’t even sure what getting my confirmation even meant. Now I know, I would love to be unconfirmed. I just did what my mom told me I had to do. I got yelled at by the priests and the nuns constantly for talking too much or asking questions. Asking questions in church class is a big no no, not unless it is along the lines of “how can I blindly follow your retarded religion even more, mother of four who can’t find a real job so you take your time up here by trying to teach a bunch of little kids barbaric stories that have no historical factual basis at all?”

I only ever did any of it to please my mom really. I believed it but I thought church was bullshit. Once I didn’t have to go anymore I was so happy. I went back once after not having had gone in a while. I still felt twinges of guilt when I didn’t go for a while, so I was trying to go with my mom sometimes. All of a sudden the part of the mass where everyone says a very long prayer together began and everyone in unison without prompt started reciting this prayer: "we believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen…” and on and on this prayer goes about what “we” believe. It was the scariest sounding thing in the world. I felt like I was in a cult and everyone around me was reciting their brainwashed beliefs like robots. I didn't go to church unless it was a holiday after that, I just couldn’t stand sitting in that room with all those judgmental eyes on me. I had grown up in front of the church and the way it was there was you were just never doing enough. The church always needed more support more money and more young helpers. Hell no the church had nothing but make my life horrible I wanted nothing to do with them. I wish someone would have told me church was a freaking waist of time.

Bill O'Reilly is an Idiot

James and I made a video bashing good old Bill.

Being part of the YouTube community is something that I feel I am very lucky I have stumbled upon. It is a crazy constant conversations between thousands of interesting users who all have their own opinions and reasoning. I love it because you can say things to people that you could never say to their face, and they say things to you they would never say to your face. It is so much more honest because everyone’s opinions about you and everything are right there on the table. I have learned so much from other people I am surprised. I went on youtube to preach what I believed but really ended up getting more out of listening to what other people had to say. So I guess my point is don't read a hub or blog and just comment it and hope someone will come back and read your stuff and click your ads, take advantage of the unique opportunity to express your opinions but also listen to other people and consider really what they have to say, even if you disagree.

My boyfriend and I made this after we lost it watching Bill argue an atheist about some signs. I think it is funny that it is so "offensive" and "insulting" for someone to even claim to be an atheist, but it’s OK to go around saying everyone who isn't your religion is going to burn in hell. Every other religion is each other’s enemy; I don't look at it that way. I see a lot of people who have been tricked into believing something and they don't even understand why. Of course if all you know is religion then why would you consider something else? Especially if you are told that doing this is the worst thing you can do? Tell me why would a religion with very little factual basis and really no reason to believe it other than blind faith's number one rule is not to question that its true? Seems a little suspicious to me, I don’t know, maybe some kind of SCAM. Well I hope you enjoy the video I know its long but it's good.

I Wasn't Ready to Raise A Kid

I woke up in the morning with one missed call from my sister and a text that said “call me please!” I opened the phone to see what time she called and saw it was 3AM. She’s pregnant, that’s all I thought. I didn’t even consider anything else I just knew. Turns out she peed on that stick then called me the second it said positive. She cried and said she didn’t know what to do, I told her whatever she did I would understand and help her. She and her boyfriend decided that they wanted to keep the baby. Well deciding to keep a baby was easy but telling everyone wasn’t.

It was just me living in the house at the time with my parents, my brother and my sister lived together about a half an hour away. Well my sister picked the best night to tell my parents OVER THE PHONE. I guess I don’t blame her, knowing me I would have done it in text or something. I was sitting in the room attached to the kitchen where my parents were sitting at the table laughing together. My sister called me and I ran upstairs, she said she wanted to warn me she was about to do it and I should go in my room. I told her I would be there when she told them so I hung up the phone and ran back downstairs and took my original spot on the couch. I heard my mom’s phone ring… my heart was racing..

Mom: “oh Liz is calling… ‘Hello’?”

I heard my sister’s voice on the phone: “Mom I have to tell you something.”

Mom: “Oh no Liz…. Wa…whaat?”

I didn’t hear my sister’s response just my mom crying saying “what” over and over again. My dad looked at my mom and she yelled it at him “Your daughters pregnant!” I can’t even remember the look on his face then just my mom looking at me and yelling.. “You knew and didn’t tell us?” somehow we are now upstairs now. My dad reminded my mom that it was not my responsibility to tell them those types of things. After that it was just my dad sitting on the end of the bed looking at the floor with his head in his hands.

My Mom and sister fought for a few months after that, but one day it hit my mom. We were talking at the same table she had cried at when she found out my sister was pregnant. She was talking about Christmas and how this year wasn’t going to be that great because of everything that’s going on. I was disappointed for a second until she looked up me and smiled. “But next Christmas we will have a baby!” She said. I was so happy to hear her be excited about it for once. I told her “Ya! you are going to be a grandma!” We started talking about baby showers ideas for my sister and suddenly everything felt OK again.

We all wanted a girl. Let me just be the one to come out and say it. Everyone just wanted to bring home this little pink baby in a pink blanket to a pink room. So that might explain why about six of us were crammed into a small ultra sound room for the chance to know the sex of the baby. My mom had even taken me out of school. So there we all were my sister her boyfriend his mom my mom me and the ultra sound lady ok 5 people. Suddenly out of nowhere the technician woman yells “GIRL!” just like that. Everyone was so excited and I am pretty sure one of those moms cried at a certain point. We all celebrated at lunch and texted everyone we knew with the new information.

FINALLY after bed rest and close calls my mom and I were speeding across the freeway at maybe 100mph while the sun was still coming up. My sister was almost ready to push and we were still 30 minutes away. The drive was a full hour and a half because my sister now lived with her boyfriend. Finally we arrive at the hospital. We saw my sister for maybe a half of a second before being rushed out. None of us had really slept and finally the whole family including my brother and dad had made it before the baby came. About an hour later we saw her doctor. “She’s really tall.” He said “everyone is perfect you can see her in pairs of two.” My mom and I went towards the room where I was about to meet my niece. I walked in and she was still being cleaned off. Finally they handed her back to my sister and from behind me we heard Steve my sisters boyfriends dad say “are they supposed to be all white like that?” Suddenly the nurse came up from behind him telling him he needed to leave. I laughed; she was covered in a white film because she had been born two weeks early and I wasn't complaining. I looked at my sister and she asked if I wanted to hold her. OF COURSE! I sat down in the hospital chair looking at her big chunky cheeks. “Hi Faith, I am your aunt Katie.”

Jumping forward about a little over a year later Faith has a huge head of curly hair and is running around my room. My sister and Faith live with us now and I get to play with Faith whenever I want.

Summer was fun, we did whatever we wanted. Of course my sister and I both looked for jobs but we took the time to relax and have fun. The problem with not working during the summer is that once classes rolled around I had no money so I had to get a job.

I wanted to start working before I had to go back to school and I found a pretty good job as a waitress. I worked only on the weekends at night so I could go to school during the week and still watch my niece when my sister got a job. Easy right? Baby sitting is fun, I was only working Friday Saturday and Sunday nights and going to school three days a week. I thought it would be easy anyway.

Faith on a summer trip

My sister got a job where she had to wake up way too early. I am not a morning person at all. I would stay up late writing papers then wake up to babysit Faith, even work in a YouTube video from time to time a nap finish my homework then go to my night class when my sister got home. The weekend would come finally a break from school and babysitting so I can work. I loved my job but it was so tiring and I made really good money but had no time to spend it. I did this for about a year; I spent more time with Faith than anyone else including her mom.

One night I was smoking a cigarette outside of work and I couldn’t feel my hands or arms. I threw and stepped on the bud and rushed inside to sit down. My manager was convinced I needed sugar and I told him that I was over run and just needed water. Next thing I knew someone was handing me a Shirley Temple. I drank it to be polite and just told them I was going to go home and sleep it off. I drove home and had trouble seeing where I was looking, almost like opposite tunnel vision. “I just need sleep.” I kept thinking in my head.

I finally got home to lay down. My mom came in my room to make sure I was OK. SHIT! I thought. I hated when she talked to me after work I knew she could smell the smoke on me. Luckily she didn’t come all the way in she just stayed at the door to check on me because I had ran in so quickly. I told her I was fine and she left I jumped up and changed my clothes fast in case I had to talk to her again. The feeling in my arms had come back so I figured I was fine. I was lying down in bed when my face went numb. I panicked and ran downstairs to tell my mom I wanted to go to the hospital. I told her what was going on and we were in the car and almost there before anyone even knew we left. My sister called us while we were waiting in the emergency room. She didn’t even know where we were and by the time I left to talk to the nurse and came back my sister was sitting in the waiting room with my mom.

I had a panic attack and was extremely over exhausted and dehydrated. They couldn’t really do much for me there but pump me with some meds that made me feel all loopy and send me home. I felt like crap for days after that. I did nothing but sleep until finally I felt somewhat normal to go back to work school and babysitting.

I lost it a few times. I am not going to act like I just went a long with everything fine. I complained and yelled at my sister and told her things I didn’t mean. We fought all of the time but it wasn’t a problem until I finally just realized it. My mom and sister were constantly getting on me about not waking up early enough and falling asleep while babysitting. I realized that I am not ready to have a kid. I am not responsible enough, but I was already in so deep. Faith and I were so attached to each other I couldn’t just stop watching her. So I promised things I couldn’t do and finally asked that my brother please watch her.

My brother had to move back in with us because when my sister moved out after getting pregnant he couldn’t find a roommate fast enough. He 26 my sister is 24 and I am 20. Faith loves him of course, he is amazing with her. I loved to sleep in but I missed watching her. I didn’t want her to just forget about me or something I am not even sure what I thought. So I would still babysit even though I was failing my class because I just stopped going. I would drive to the train station and sleep in my car. None of my friends knew I wasn’t going to school. My parents would have killed me, but all I wanted was some freaking sleep. My brother was working and going to school also so there was no one person who was designated to watch the baby. Just whoever could would, and if no one could I always had to.

Work was really bad because it was bought by new people, they were awful and I finally just quit. I feel like the idea of sleep ran this part of my life. All I ever wanted to do was go home and sleep. I would wake up thinking about the next time I could sleep. I got kicked out of the college I was at for my bad grades. I blame that only on me, I was very lazy with school I always have been. I know if I gave more of a shit I would do better but I just couldn’t. So now I transferred to another school but I never explain why to my parents, they still don’t know to this day. I just didn’t want to put another burden on them like that.

Skip ahead. I now live with my boyfriend in SF. My family lives within driving distance and I am still waiting for them to accept that. They are not OK with me in their words “abandoning my family.” But they are doing fine it looks like. Faith always has a babysitting and I am not ending up in the hospital late at night. I would love to see Faith but I really worry about going back home. It isn’t the same there at all. But it isn’t fair. I miss Faith so much. I feel like she misses me and has no idea where I am. She is going to be 3 in June. I hope my family will understand why I left sooner rather than later I would really love to see her without feeling this immense amount of guilt. No one told me I would miss Faith THIS much.

This is What 'WE' Believe (How I Became an Atheist)

I was in 2^nd grade, maybe a year older or younger I don’t remember, I was on a school field trip that my mom had volunteered to chaperone for. I don’t know exactly where we went or even really what we did; I just remember one specific part. We watched a video about space and the big bang, I was thrilled. I loved space, I loved everything I learned it made so much sense to me I didn’t want it to end, I wanted to learn more. As we were filtering out the theater my mom uneasily asked me how I liked it. Of course I went on and on about how interesting it was that that is how we started and that…. No… I was cut off..

Mom: “Well Katie you know we don’t believe in that right?

Me: “We don’t?”

Mom: “No we believe in the story of creation, that god created Adam and eve.”

This was very disappointing for me to hear. I thought what science had come up with was way more interesting then this religious crap I was dragged to every Sunday.

Me: “ well maybe god made the big bang.”

Mom: “No Katie, we as Catholics don’t believe that.”

I was dumb founded, there’s that ‘we’ again. I find that religious people often use the collected ‘we’ when it is not appropriate. Who was my mom to tell me what to believe? Who is anyone to tell anyone something like that, to actually say, no that is not what you believe you believe this because I believed it and my mom believed it and so on. Those are not good enough reasons for me to devote my life to something that made absolutely no freaking sense.

NOW. Those are not good enough reasons for me now, but as a little kid I trusted my mom. I don’t think my mom thought she was hurting me in anyway, but I really wish she would have let my sister brother and I at least try a different church. I never saw the inside of a church that wasn’t catholic until I was so much older and it was because my sister dragged me and my mom refused to go. What the hell is going on here? I battled with church for years. I went to church with my family every Sunday AND went to church class once a week after regular school. I learned all kinds of nifty life lessons in those classes. For example, gluing cotton balls onto a sheep, coloring crosses, believe in jesus and god without question or you burn forever in hell, a lot of useless prayers (of which I never understood the meaning of) and my favorite part, whatever was going on in the desk of whoever students seat I was sitting at (It was a regular school during the day). You know good life lessons.

As annoying and pointless as those classes were church was worse. I don’t think I ever listen to a damn thing that priest was saying unless he was telling a joke, which was rare, maybe once a year or so. Instead I fidgeted in my seat and drew on the church bulletin. As I got older, and I had gotten my first communion and confirmation (8 years of church “school”) I was finally free I didn’t have to go to church anymore! So do you think I ever went when I had the choice? You guessed it no never, why the hell would I? I believed in god though I didn’t agree with the obvious corruption that was going on with the Catholic Church.

After a little bit of research I had found out so much, it was easy and everywhere. How many Jesus like saviors were out there? Well apparently a lot. I was so confused; it seemed so obvious to me that it couldn’t be true. I explained it to my mom like this; if you are a child and you believe in Santa with all your little heart, but then one day you hear that Australia doesn’t have Santa. They have a kangaroo that delivers all the presents! Well that isn’t right Santa is supposed to go everywhere all over the world isn’t he? Then you find out all the different “Santas” that are around the world. Would you still believe in Santa? Would it make sense to? Obviously not, it is obvious that each culture has its own version of Santa because he isn’t real! How can I believe he is the real one or that there is a real one if there are tons of copy cats? How crazy would it be for me to say, oh well I believe in Santa because my mom did and her mom did? You would think I was nuts for continuing to hold onto a notion that is so obviously untrue.

So now I didn’t believe in Jesus, I thought I had it all figured out. There was a god but no Jesus not yet maybe, I was not sure. Well no Jesus no hell right?

The process was happening and I didn’t even know it! I was still upset that I had not figured out my “relationship” with god. That is all I heard about. I was forced to go to church my entire life but then later found out it is acceptable not to go just as long as you pawn it off as having a “personal relationship with god.” What kind BS is that? Are you kidding me? I am so happy I never bought into that load of crap. It scares me to think that thousand have convinced themselves they are good people by basically having conversations with themselves.

So next you can see where I am going with all of this. I was curious to take a religion class in college, even with all my mom’s objections. So every day I found myself defending against these stupid questions people were asking. I was taking a class on eastern religions, but the class was filled with what were obviously Christians. Shocking to see how close minded everyone was (sarcasm). I was expecting more out of people but looking back I am not sure why. I was always defending none believers, I didn’t even realize it. A girl raised her hand and asked in the strongest valley girl voice you can imagine,

“like.. um.. what do… um people who don’t believe in anything hope to?”

The teacher looked very irritated at this question. We all know what kind of question that was, one that she did not need or plan on getting a real answer for. It was just something she wanted to say to make people who didn’t believe think about this as if she was profound or something. I still considered myself “religious” at this time, but for some reason scoffed offended at her statement. How shallow and small would my world be where I believe in something so I can have someone to hope to. The teachers answer was obvious but not good enough, he brushed her off with an explanation about how hope isn’t about who you hope to. What he said was correct but this brainwashed valley girl was never going to get it. I got it then and I didn’t even know it yet.
   Then FINALLY someone told me. I couldn’t tell you the name of the philosopher or even the exact quote but I remember it like it was yesterday, the feeling of everything being lifted off my chest. My teacher explained a theory a philosopher has; it is that society goes in phases. They wanted to know why the sun came up, so they said it was magic, then when that wasn’t enough it was god, but now we are moving into science. I felt like my whole life I had seen the world through a pin sized hole and suddenly the hole expanded and more holes formed. Along with many questions, but unlike the questions I had had about religion my entire life I wasn’t afraid to ask the questions or feel guilty for having them. It happened quite literally in that moment. I became an atheist, not agnostic not even a little bit, atheist. I really liked how that sounded it was empowering almost. I wanted to share the freedom I felt with everyone.
   Come to NO ONES surprise people didn’t care too much about my “revelation”. No one had told them yet and I wasn’t going to be the one to get it through to them. Of course I struggled with not believing anymore, I felt the guilt at night for not praying and I woke up panicked that I could be wrong. It was impossible to feel normal or right believing in something literally no one else did… nothing. People are afraid to only have themselves to blame everything on or trust in I get it. But does that mean you dedicate your life to a lie? I don’t think so.

I have a lot to say on this so this won’t be my only blog on this topic look out for more.

A Tip on How to Clear Your Acne

I was 10 and my sister was 14, and every day I watched her do her hair shave her legs and put on her make-up. I wanted to be like her so badly I would sneak into the bathrooms at school and borrow make-up from anyone I could find. I was constantly getting caught wearing ugly eye shadows and thick black eyeliner.

I had acne in middle school, and I begged my mom to let me buy something to cover it up....
“Please! Please! Please! Mom!” I’d beg. "EVERYONE wears at least some kind of foundation or something!”
“No! You are just too young; your sister didn't start until high school!”

She would tell me every single time. So I bought some crappy cover up on my own, and my acne continued.

The point of all this is, I should have been treating my skin not coating it with this extra s#*t. I am 20 years old now and I feel like I have had some form of make-up crap on my face every day since I was 13. I guess I knew in the back of my mind that if I just stopped wearing the freaking make up and took some time to do research and clear up my acne there would be no need to cover my skin up. I convinced myself that I would stop once my skin cleared… but my skin never stayed clear, and the acne scars would glare at me in the mirror and I would give in and cover up. Believe me this all seems crazy to me now looking back. At the time no one told me how much better I would look if I just took off this crazy mask I was wearing. It wasn’t just the face make up, it transformed into blushes, under eye make-up, concealer, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara etc. etc. How much money was I spending to look anything but like myself? I couldn’t even guess and tell you, and I don’t want to try. I bought boxes after boxes of those “Bioré® pore strips” trying to keep all the cover up out of my skin.

Now I rarely where make-up and if I do it is never cover up it is always just light eye make-up. My face is finally almost completely clear and my scars have lightened up drastically. My boyfriend finally told me that I looked so much better without all the make-up on my face. I had heard a couple things from people here and there about it but there it was, right in front of me. YOU LOOK SO MUCH BETTER WITHOUT MAKE-UP!

So why do you care about all this? I use YouTube to upload videos and learn about whatever I can. Make-up tutorials are huge online, these girls giving you the “right” way to apply these useless freaking chemicals to our face. I cannot explain how many times I have seen users complain about their uneven skin tone and red marks. They always have some amazing remedy then they use make-up as a last step over the skin. You are spending all this money on chemical filled bottles of make-up to cover your skin up when you can buy a .99 cent bottle of hydrogen peroxide and that will even out your skin tone, get rid of scars and even clear your acne.

I understand this obsession with your skin; I learned in my psychology class that the number one factor in determining if you think a person is attractive is their skin. I love make-up. I love a lot of things that are bad for me. I have now restored my skin and it looks better than any expensive make-up could ever make me look. I know that some people have skin problems that require make-up and this is not about that, this is only for people with acne. All I do is wash my face twice a day with hydrogen peroxide. That is the treatment that works best for me and I recommend doing research on what is best for you.

Try it, Stop caking on the make-up and buying these expensive acne treatments. Just clean your face, it is the best feeling to know you can wake up wash your face and that is it. You can even see this progression on my YouTube channel; I caked on the make-up at first because I was convinced I needed to to be on camera. Over time I have realized it is not necessary and will not be wearing make-up in my future videos. Hopefully this was helpful J
