I BOUGHT A BAG

During a period of my life in which I was transitioning from the military to civilian life I bought a bag. Not just any bag, but a high quality business brief case type of bag. It was expensive too. I suppose I bought it thinking that I was going to be this business guy and needed something to tote my papers in. For years I would kick myself in back-side wondering what pushed me into making such a stupid purchase. This bag was literally a dust magnet in the closet.
That was back in 2001, Now at 2015 this business bag contains my sermons, bible, laptop, and notes. I literally panic when I think about what would happen if I lost the bag. At this point in my life …..The bag matters and the purchase wasn’t so bad after all!
So what I am saying? Certainly I am not encouraging you all to go out and spend foolishly like I did. I am simply suggesting that there are pieces in your life that sometimes don’t make sense and seemingly may not belong at that time. If you are willing to endure, while preparing for tomorrow
today you may be blessed enough to see what God was setting you up for all along. Then you don’t look so crazy….You look like a person full of faith.

ANGER SOLVES LITTLE

I posted to our facebook yesterday and I would like to continue the conversation basically because I felt the need. As my daughter explained that they watched the streets of Baltimore burn, she grasped for straws to truly understand what the fuss was about. It occurred to me that as a parent, a marvelous job had been done at shielding and protecting her from how ugly the world can truly be. We talked extensively about the situation in Baltimore and how years of oppression and abuse can cause people to boil over. Now this isn’t at all an attempt to pardon the damages done. Or think that it was okay to tear up local shops. The main point that we both came to was that anger sparked the riots. There may have been some opportunist looking to get a free TV, but the incident in large can be attributed to the lack relationship between the police force and the community it was hired to protect.
As I explained that truthfully many African American adults would gladly share one or more stories of when we had a “run-in” with the police. I personally cannot think of one person African American male that hasn’t had a “run-in” with the police, but I digress. As I explained my memories I felt myself feeling the same feelings of anger, shame, and injustice that ended with a group of cops spitting on my car while telling me to have a “nice” night.
But even then I was calmed by the Holy Spirit and able to remind my daughter that in anger we have lost more than we could ever gain. Loosing our cool is what has caused us to say things that we can’t take back. Destroy relationships that we can’t recover. Was it not anger that caused Moses his ability to punch his ticket and enter the Promised Land he worked so hard to get to? It goes to show us family…..We can work so hard to make progress and burn it all down in a matter of minutes. The bible tells us that we can be angry….But don’t act in anger. Instead use the additional energy to fuel positive change and give God the glory when that change happens!

GODS LOVE

An interesting topic that we came across last week was love. The bible teaches us in 1 John 4:8 That he who doesn't know love doesn't know God because God is love. We spent the later part of our session discussing as a Christian, how hard is it to love...."All the time" - Yes! All the time. Even in each of our best efforts to truly examine the quality of love, we discovered that human love isflawed. Human love is conditional. Human love can change. The good news is that God's is bigger than all of these things because his love is unconditional!!! While many attempt to replicate love that was taught of experienced through life, the goal of each Christian should be to experience God's way of love and implement it into our lives.

NEW YEAR ALREADY!!

It's a new year! Already a few days into the New year and I still cannot believe that we are in 2015. It becomes a true testament that time does not stand still for anyone and it is something that we all cannot help, but to lose. At church this was a main message we shared TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!! If you didn't get it together last year before you run and start making new resolutions let's work to close out things that we left unresolved in 2014. This going to be a big year for us family and whether you are ready or not it is here. Let's make the most out of what we have this year family because TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!

This is our team. A group of professional, kind-hearted selfless people whom I could never find ways to thank enough. Whom I could never repay for stretching, scrapping ,fighting and all the extra work it has taken to make our family dreams a reality. I look upon my life grateful for all things, but largely a life in humility knowing that we are just not THAT GOOD....... We didn't make it this far on own . Many worked tirelessly......We did our part, but we made it because you went above and beyond yours. Thank you Coldwell, America's Choice, Super Villain, and Foster......Give us a minute and we will consider that karaoke party

It is truly awesome when we study the word of God together and can see reoccurring themes in the places that we read. I suppose the Lord is truly speaking to us and it is so amazing!!!! We are preparing to end our season of Baptism, but even in our Trans-Team we continue to cover God's awesomeness. How we are reconciled to him through no action of our own....No works of ours own....No begging of our own...But by his grace and mercy can we continue having such a great relationship with someone who will never fail us. We should be jumping through the roof!!! Praise the Lord!

Community Love Part II

This was by far one of the best community projects that we were involved in.

We were set to work with Exxon once again to show love to the Colonial Forge community. We were only slated to be there from 12:00-3:30pm. It was slow at first.....Only seeing a kid here or parent there, but then in the second half...We got overwhelmed by visitors...And it was great! Families coming into the community who hadn't heard of a church reaching out, who had no idea that it was possible to receive a hug, a prayer, with no strings attached! This was also the first time that people actually sat with us around the tent area and kept us company until we left. They helped us pack up before crying out to God to help them change their lives....It was awesome. We can't wait for spring to start back up so that we can be back out there again.

Good Afternoon! I am sharing some words of encouragement from my friend Minister Wanda Carr! May they be of blessing to you as they were to me:)

PRAYER FOR THIS YEAR: THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION WILL TURN THEIR MINDS AND HEARTS TO THE LORD! ...“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6). SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK: Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Today is “heavenly Monday” (TGIM…THANK GOD IT’S MONDAY)! And we are here to see this glorious day, what a blessing! Greetings brothers and sisters in the glorious and matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ: Jesus cares and loves you and your family! THIS WEEK’S WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT: “FACE EACH DAY IN THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD” In the movie series called “Superman”, Clark Kent was dubbed as a “mild manner reporter”, working for the Daily Planet. However, there was nothing mild about him. Secretly, he supposedly had super human strength. As part of his daily routine he fought evil. He even saved people as they fell from high places; because he could fly. He constantly tried to rescue people from mayhem and destruction. What a task! On the other hand, Clark also had an enemy that could zap his strength; this foe was known as kryptonite. Whenever, he would come into contact with this substance, it took all of his powers, robbing him of his strength. From his encounter with kryptonite, Superman found out that he was not so…strong. There was something that had the potential to make him powerless. It is refreshing to know that saving the world has been accomplished by Jesus Christ. The only thing any man, woman, boy or girl has to do is repent and have faith in Him as their Lord and Savior. The Lord has not required us as a human race to take matters upon our shoulders. He wants us to surrender our lives to Him and Him alone as we face life’s challenges. The Lord wants us to face them in His strength with courage. He is the only One that can make an impossible situation or circumstance turn into possibilities. Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” On another note, there is a villain in everybody’s life and his name is satan. Satan is like kryptonite in the life of a believer (if he is given the chance). On a daily basis, he tries to rob a person of his or her peace, strength as well as discredit their Christian testimony. However, all praises, honor and glory to the King of kings and Lord of lords; when a person feels weak, downtrodden or powerless in their lives, through Christ they can be lifted and made strong. Scripture says, “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)”. When we face each day in the strength of the Lord, we are victorious. The two greatest weapons in the lives of all believers’ are prayer and the Word of God. Prayer awakens our inner strength in the Lord; enabling us to leave our burdens at the foot of the cross. God’s Holy Word gives us mental strength. Our hearts and minds are strengthening as we mediate; walk in His might and claim His promises. As a result, when we arm ourselves with these two weapons, known as God’s military hardware; we are made strong through Him. Seek the Lord’s face for His daily direction and walk in His strength. I pray that your week is victorious. You have a special purpose in God’s Kingdom. Walk in your calling! REMEMBER: GOD LOVES YOU and so do I! “Face each day in the strength of the Lord!” PRAYER REQUESTS: Please pray for spiritual healing in our nation. SALVATION PRAYER: “My friend…Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ today? The choice is yours. If you are reading this email and you do not have a “personal relationship” with the Lord and you would like to know how to receive this free and precious gift. God wants every human that passes through this life to know there is hope through Jesus Christ. Therefore, Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. As a result, any person who wants to be reconciled with God; can kneel or stand right where they are and repeat this prayer: “Lord, I know that I am a sinner, I am repenting from my sins. I know that I have not been living the life You want me to live. I can never live this type of life without Your help and strength. I am asking You Lord, to please forgive me for my sins. Lord Jesus, I believe that You paid the penalty for my sins on the cross and You have risen again. I am opening the door of my heart for You Lord Jesus to live and take control of my life. I surrender my mind, body, soul and spirit to You as my Lord and Savior. Lord, thank You for hearing my prayer and giving me the gift of eternal life. Amen!” After repeating this prayer, you are now part of the family of God. Jesus has made a special invitation and a promise to everyone that opens the door of his or her heart to Him. He states in Revelations 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” I pray that you will dine with Jesus today! FOR GROWTH AND STRENGTH: (1) Begin to surround yourself with other believers in Jesus Christ. (2) Read your Bible and pray every day, so that you can get to know our Heavenly Father. (3) Find a local church, where the Word of God is being taught as the inspired, final authority of God. Praise God for your first step towards His Kingdom! A servant of Jesus Christ,
