Let there be peace on Earth

Peace, if you think about it, comes in may ways. Peace in your home, peace in your health and peace in your heart. The dove has always been symbolic of peace.

I threaded the button with a piece of the Burlap Ribbon that I shredded and tied the knot to the back and attached it with a glue dot.

I cut two pieces of ribbon. One is 6" long and it mounted it to the Crumb Cake layer of the card, after it was embossed. Another piece, 5" long was then tied UNDER the first piece. Tie tightly so it stays in place. By cutting two pieces of ribbon, versus one that goes all the way around the inside of the card, you will save yourself about 6" on every card.

Color Spin!

Christmas just isn't red and green anymore and this page proves just that. I love the color combination. It's warm and trendy.

I used the snowman to lend some credence to the wintery feel of this layout. I cut up some scraps of ribbon to make his scarf and attached them with glue dots. The glimmer brads add some sparkle, too.

All Wrapped Up!

By now lots of you have your Christmas shopping underway. I love gift giving but I love wrapping the gifts just as much as buying them. I love making the outside looks special - just like the person I'm giving the gift to. This card is a tribute to packaging!

I used the Gift Bow Die (hurry, we have not been told it's being carried over after January 2nd!). I love this die because it makes 3 different bows. Here I've used the small bow, there's a larger bow and you can double up the two sizes for an awesome double bow, too!

I sponged the edges of the cardstock for dimension an heat embossed the words with silver. I played up the silver embossing powder by adding two mini silver brads as well.

I added silver glimmer paper for the center of the bow which adds that extra sparkle.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

How lovely are thy branches! Well, no 'branches' on these but they did turn out lovely! Well, at least I think so! ((grin))

Last Thursday was our last scrapbook class for 2013 and as always, with my December classes, we had a Christmas Party! I served hot cocoa (complete with mini marshmallows and whipped cream!) and cookies. Everyone got a free roll of Washi Tape, too!

I created the trees from the largest pennant from the Perfect Pennants Die. And, what would a Christmas tree would be without a little 'bling'! I added a glimmer paper star to the top of each tree.

I also created a journaling pocket. These are easy to make. Just cut a piece of cardstock about 1/2" wider than you'd like your journaling piece to be, notch the top with a circle punch and insert the journaling. I added a pull out tab with some shredded Burlap Ribbon.

Some of you might remember that I spent 5 wonderful days in Northern Ohio and Pennsylvania with my dear friend, and sister stamper, Linda Bauwin. During that visit, Linda hosted a weekend stamping retreat. I dubbed my trip the "Frozen Tundra" because it was SO COLD!

Bloomin' Beautiful Birthday

This over-sized crinkled flower is the focal point for this card. Naturally, card this size can't be mailed without extra postage but I'm intending to attach it to a gift and hand deliver it.

The soft tones of the Crisp Cantaloupe and the bold neutral of the Basic Gray allow these two colors to really make a statement.

I stamped the sentiment directly on the designer paper. I added some pearls to lend credence to the texture of this card and play up the vintage feel.

Change in Stampin' Up! policy regarding Mystery Hostess

As of Dec 1, I will be discontinuing the Hostess Code drawings promotion (Mystery Hostess) due to new changes from Stampin' Up!. Although it saddens me to announce this, Stampin Up has learned that using the Hostess code for Mystery Hostess drawings could be considered a "game of chance". This then becomes a legal issue in some states. In an effort to stay compliant with all state laws, and Stampin' Up! policy, I won't be offering this promotion any longer - don't want to take any "chances" (pun intended).

The Hostess code itself isn't going away. We will still be able to use the hostess code for Workshops, Stamp Club orders, and book parties that have a designated Hostess before ordering. And you will ALWAYS be able to get the Stampin Rewards / Hostess Benefits on all orders over $150.

Leftovers!

I had purchased the Thankful Tablescape Kit to create a flip album (below) and I still had LOTS of product leftover.

So, what do you do with leftovers? You re-purpose them, right?

This card was created with just some of the leftovers.

This kit comes with lots of chalkboard banners. On this card, instead of using the Chalk Marker INCLUDED in this kit, I stamped a greeting in Whisper White Craft ink and used White embossing powder and heat set it. I even added a Neutral Designer Buttons for a little dimension.

The birch paper included in this kit is AWESOME and PLENTIFUL! (I'm secretly wish Stampin' Up! would sell it separately)

The kit comes with 10 pre-cut and pre-scored pockets that I used to create the pages for my flip album. The pockets are super for holding printed journaling cards. Below, I used more chalkboard banners but this time with the Chalk Marker that's included. Did I mention the Chalk Marker is included? ((smile))

Brightening Black Friday!

How's this for bright? I thought I'd take a break from holiday cards to show you something fun and EASY!

Washi Tape is all the rage and has taken every day crafts to a new level. I'll admit, I didn't understand the hoopla...but then I tried it! WOW! Washi is Japanese for 'paper' . Yep, paper tape BUT with pretty designs on it! Washi Tape rips easily with your fingers and the unfinished edges look wonderful on your projects - whimsical and trendy!

I laid the Washi Tape on an angle across the front of the card. I added a simple greeting and punched butterfly. This card took me less than 2 minutes to make! Seriously!

When I think of what I'm grateful for....

...a huge list comes to mind when I think about what I'm thankful for. Here are just a few:

Jesus, who saved me from all my sins and promises me an eternity with Him. Ah, faith, it's a great thing!
My husband, Bob, who is amazingly generous, loving, thoughtful, selfless, gentle and a hard-working man. He displays all the perfect things our daughter should look for in her future husband someday. He's my ROCK!
My daughter, Gina, has a smile that could light an entire building! She's beautiful, witty, smart, funny and oh, so talented. She's never given me a stitch of trouble. Every mom should have a daughter like her. I love her to pieces.
My family; loving, supportive and always providing great laughs along with great 'family drama'.
My friends; let's face it, if you're blessed with wonderful friends (like I have!) then they are JUST as precious as your family.
My Stampin' Up! family - this includes my customers, who for 15+ years have allowed me to do, and share, what I love. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, for your faithfulness to me as your demonstrator, for allowing me to be a part of your life and sharing our love of stamping together! To create this two-toned leaf:

Ink up the stamp in Crumb Cake ink.
Ink up a sponge dauber in Island Indigo.
Using the dauber, add ink to the stamp, randomly.
NO "double dipping" your dauber after you've inked it up once or you will muddy up your Crumb Cake ink pad.
Stamp on to cardstock. Be sure to clean your stamp each time you want to make another leaf.
