This means that courts do not need to prove intentional recklessness. Even momentary inattention that results in dangerous driving can lead to conviction. The focus is on whether the manner of driving, viewed objectively, was dangerous.

Reckless driving involves operating a vehicle in a manner that shows disregard for the safety of others. Common examples include excessive speeding, aggressive driving, running red lights intentionally, and other conduct that demonstrates conscious disregard for traffic laws.

Causing Death by Dangerous Driving

The most serious traffic offence is causing death by dangerous driving. This occurs when a driver's dangerous or reckless driving results in another person's death. It began after boys at the school protested over poor conditions and went on strike. When the girls refused to join them, tension turned deadly.

That night, a large group of boys forced their way into the girls’ dormitory after cutting the lights. In the chaos that followed, 19 girls lost their lives after being trampled or suffocated, while dozens of others were assaulted and seriously injured.

The incident shocked the entire country including the then president Daniel Arap Moi who upon hearing the news of the rampage arrived there in slippers. Many Kenyans were even more angered by some early reactions from officials, which appeared to downplay the suffering of the victims.

After investigations and a lengthy court process, several students were convicted and jailed. The school itself was later closed and renamed, but the pain left behind never truly disappeared.

More than 30 years later, the St. Kizito tragedy is still remembered as a painful lesson about school safety, violence, and the protection of girls in learning institutions.

Listen, let’s get one thing straight before we even leave Nairobi: throwing meat bones out of your car window in Ol Kalou is a sin. It’s not just a "social blunder"—it is a transgression against the Almighty, and frankly, even the Devil himself finds it distasteful.

You all know Ol Kalou. That place is dark, it’s damp, and it is colder than a heartbreak in January. When you toss a bone into that darkness, you aren't just littering; you are sending out a formal invitation to the siafu (safari ants). And let me tell you, those ants have a collective IQ higher than most of our political leaders. They don’t just bite; they strategize. They wait. They linger like a bad regret until the moment you are most vulnerable.

This is the story of our ill-fated safari to Sopili.

The Budget vs. The Ambition

We left Nairobi late. Very late. The kind of "late" where you realize your grand plan of reaching Nyahururu for the night is starting to look like a hallucination. We piled back into the car, satisfied and warm, ready for the final leg to Nyahururu. We were barely five minutes into the drive when the first tactical strike occurred.
