Since moving to America in 1987, Australian Ken Ham—founder of Answers in Genesis–US, the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, and visionary behind a popular, full-size Noah’s Ark—has become one of America’s most in-demand Christian speakers and interview guests. He became internationally known for his 2014 creation/evolution debate with Bill Nye “the Science Guy,” which has been watched by an estimated 25 million people. Ham hosts the daily radio program Answers . . . with Ken Ham, heard on over 1,000 stations, and in 2020 oversaw the launch of Answers TV, a video streaming service.

A biblical apologist, Ken gives numerous faith-building talks to tens of thousands of children and adults each year on topics such as the reliability of the Bible, how compromise over biblical authority has undermined society (and even the church, which is seeing a massive exodus of young people), witnessing more effectively, dinosaurs, “races,” and so on. Ham’s most recent book is a commentary and devotional on Genesis chapters 1–11, “Creation to Babel” (2021). His book on effective evangelism, “Gospel Reset,” was sent to almost every church in America and to many churches in other English-speaking countries (over 300,000 copies).

Ken cofounded AiG in 1994 with the purpose of upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse and sharing the gospel beginning in Genesis. In addition, he provides biblical and scientific answers to some of the most difficult questions people ask about the Christian faith.

In May of 2007, Answers in Genesis opened its high-tech Creation Museum and education center in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area (on 70 scenic acres in Petersburg, Kentucky). The brainchild of Ham, the state-of-the-art facility contains dozens of world-class exhibits—including impressive animatronic dinosaur models, a $1 million allosaur fossil, stunning insect collection, and planetarium—inside the 75,000-sq-ft museum. In 15 years, the museum has attracted millions of guests.

The Ark Encounter opened in Williamstown, Kentucky, in July 2016. The Ark—voted in 2019 by USA Today readers as the number one religious attraction in America—averages over one million awe-struck visitors each year along with countless media. The evangelistic attraction, located about 40 miles south of the museum, features a life-size 510-foot-long Ark as its centerpiece. In phase one of the attraction, a zoo was built behind the Ark as well as a stunning 1,500-seat restaurant. In 2018, Ken released Gospel Reset, a book designed to help Christians evangelize more effectively in an increasingly secularized world. About 300,000 complimentary copies of Gospel Reset were mailed to all churches in the US and other English-speaking nations in September 2018. In 2020, he released a book for families on raising godly children, Will They Stand?, and in 2021, he authored Divided Nation and a devotional commentary on Genesis, Creation to Babel.

Ken is heard daily on the radio feature Answers with Ken Ham (broadcast on more than 1,000 stations) and is a frequent guest on national TV talk shows. Since the Creation Museum opened, he has been interviewed on CBS News Sunday Morning, The NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, The PBS News Hour, and many other outlets. Ken is also the founder of the award-winning Answers magazine, which won the prestigious “Award of Excellence” (for top Christian magazine) in 2011 from the Evangelical Press Association. He also writes articles for AiG’s popular website, which has twice been the recipient of the “Best Ministry Website” as awarded by the 1,200-member National Religious Broadcasters.

Ken’s emphasis is on the relevance and authority of the book of Genesis to the life of the average Christian, and how compromise on Genesis has opened a dangerous door regarding how the culture and church view biblical authority. His Australian accent, keen sense of humor, captivating stories, and exceptional PowerPoint/Keynote illustrations have made him one of North America’s most effective Christian communicators. Several of his live talks were recorded and released in a well-produced DVD set and curriculum titled Foundations (2011).

Ken’s bachelor’s degree in applied science (with an emphasis on environmental biology) was awarded by the Queensland Institute of Technology in Australia. He also holds a diploma of education from the University of Queensland (a graduate qualification necessary for Ken to begin his initial career as a science teacher in the public schools in Australia).

In recognition of the contribution he has made to the church in the USA and internationally, Ken has been awarded six honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity (1997) from Temple Baptist College in Cincinnati, Ohio; a Doctor of Literature (2004) from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia; a Doctor of Letters (2010) from Tennessee Temple University; a Doctorate in Humane Letters from Mid-Continent University in Kentucky (2012); a Doctor of Science from Bryan College in Tennessee (2017); and a Doctor of Divinity, Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Tennessee (2018).

Ken and his wife, Mally, reside in northern Kentucky. They have five children and 18 grandchildren.

Professional Experience

Between my undergraduate and graduate work, I spent four years teaching high school science at a large college-prep school in NW Georgia. In addition to my teaching load (including AP biology, chemistry, physics, and electronics), I spent the winter months coaching the swimming and diving teams and the summer months running the outdoor high adventure program.
In 1996, I was awarded the three-year Maytag doctoral fellowship by the University of Miami. When that expired, I received a one-year fellowship from the Institute for Marine Science. While working on my PhD, I designed and performed many experiments in marine ecology and genetic engineering and helped to develop new protocols for the rapid cloning of fluorescent protein genes. The green and red fluorescent proteins my coworker and I cloned from hard and soft corals were used to create transgenic zebrafish. We patented one of these protein genes and licensed it to Promega, Inc. under the trade name ‘Monster Green’.
From 2001–2004, I helped design and build an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals at UM’s Experimental Fish Hatchery. During these years I also performed over 500 research dives on the shallow coral reefs of the Florida Keys and Bahamas. Many of these were done at night to study the mass coral spawning episodes that happen at specific times during the warm summers.
I spent two years after obtaining my PhD working for an engineering company, mainly focused on impact mitigation for the Key West Harbor dredging project (since the channel runs right through the coral reef).
Upon leaving Miami, I was hired by the Institute for Creation Research to help on their GENE project. While there, I wrote computer programs to analyze human genetic data and managed to get one publication on this work into the secular literature.
In 2006, I was hired by Creation Ministries International as a scientist, speaker, and writer.
Currently, I serve on Creation Research Society board of directors and am a member of Logos Research Associates.

12 Arguments Evolutionists Should Avoid

For years, we’ve maintained a list of arguments creationists should avoid. There are enough good arguments for biblical accuracy and a young earth that dubious claims can safely be discarded. Now we want to address a similar topic: arguments evolutionists should avoid. These worn-out tropes have not only passed their expiration date, but they never should have been made to begin with.

Argument 1 Evolution is a fact
When our core beliefs are attacked, it’s often easy for humans to retreat to statements such as this: “My belief is a fact, and yours is wrong.” That’s exactly why we cannot trust mere human understanding to explain the unobservable past—emotion and pride get in the way. Evolution is not a fact, no matter how many times evolutionists say it is. It’s a framework built on assumptions about the past—assumptions that will never have direct, first-hand, observational proof.

Focus in: Hasn’t Evolution Been Proven True?

Argument 2 Only the uneducated reject evolution
Besides the arrogance of such statements, this argument has no footing and should be cast off. Mainly, those who make this claim usually define “educated people” as those who accept evolution. Anyone who disagrees fails the test, no matter what their background (e.g., if we follow this ideology, Isaac Newton must have been uneducated). There are many lists of well-educated scholars who look to the Bible for answers (here’s one)—and we could point out Darwin’s own deficit of formal education (he earned a bachelor’s in theology). But the bigger issue is that education—or lack—does not guarantee the validity of a person’s position.

Focus in: Can Creationists Be “Real” Scientists?

Argument 3 Overwhelming evidence in all fields of science supports evolution
The irony, of course, is that for centuries prior to Darwin’s publication of On the Origin of Species, the majority of scientists found the opposite to be true: the “evidence” supported creation. What changed? Not the evidence. Rather, the starting point changed (i.e., moving from the Bible, God’s Word, to humanism, man’s word). Creationists continue to see everything in light of God’s Word and all evidence as supporting the biblical account. In reality, there is no “neutral” starting point; everyone—whether they acknowledge it or not—interprets the “facts” according to a particular way of thinking (i.e., worldview).

For their November 14, 2014 meeting, Rocky Mountain Creation Fellowship hosted noted author Spike Psarris, who has published articles on astronomy in Creation Magazine and CMI's Technical Journal. Spike was previously an engineer in the United States' military space program. He entered that program as an atheist and an evolutionist. He left it as a creationist and a Christian.

Spike now writes and speaks on Biblical creation, and is the author of the DVD series, "What you aren't being told about astronomy," available at http://www.creationastronomy.com. The title of his presentation will be: "Our Created Universe," which will emphasize the fact that secular origins models cannot explain the cosmos. Science textbooks, programs, and other media tell us that we 'know' the Universe formed all by itself billions of years ago in a Big Bang event, with no Creator being involved. Despite these claims, the planets, stars, and galaxies we see contradict secular expectations. According to secular models, many of these objects shouldn't exist at all -- yet there they are. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company. Kent Hovind became a Christian at age sixteen and immediately desired to serve Christ with his life. His keen interest in math and science throughout his high school career prompted his enrollment at Illinois Central College as a science major. After two years of undergraduate work there, and feeling God calling him to full-time Christian service, he completed his bachelor of religious education degree at Midwestern Baptist College of Pontiac, Michigan in 1974.

For fifteen years Hovind taught high school math and science, during which time he completed his master’s degree in education. While researching and writing his doctoral dissertation on the subject of creation vs. evolution, he saw the tremendous need for exposing evolution as a dangerous, religious worldview, and for arming Christians with scientific evidence that there are no contradictions between true science and the Bible. In response to these needs, shortly after finishing his Ph.D. in religious education, he began a full-time ministry of presenting the foundational truth of creation and the utter fallacy of evolution with a mission of strengthening the faith of believers and winning the lost to Christ. His award-winning seven-part Creation Seminar continues to travel around the globe with translations in thirty-two languages.

When Nathaniel Jeanson graduated from high school, he hadn't yet thought about becoming a doctor and researcher in one of the most cutting edge and controversial fields in medicine today: stem cells.

"I knew that I didn't like insects or blood, but I liked science," he said in a recent phone interview.
Jeanson attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and studied molecular biology, though he admitted that he didn't know exactly what it was when he started. But it involved chemistry and was related to disease research, both fields that interested him, and he graduated with his bachelor's degree in 2003.

He went straight to Harvard Medical School, which he said "sounded like it would be useful for credentials and evangelism." He developed an interest in cancer research while there and worked in the stem cell laboratory. "But strictly with adult stem cells," he emphasized. Under the supervision of a noted hematologist, Jeanson focused on stem cells derived from blood cells, which is ironic, he said, since he doesn't like blood. Jeanson received his Ph.D. earlier this year and continued his research at Harvard, specifically on the role of Vitamin D in regulating blood stem cells.
Stem cell research has been a hot button issue in medical science, politics, and the media. When the Massachusetts legislature tried to overturn laws regarding the ethical use of embryonic stem cells, Jeanson and some of his colleagues were invited to submit expert testimony. While many of his colleagues favored embryonic stem cell research, Jeanson testified for the "other side" due to his creationist views.

"I didn't appear in court, but I got to submit a written testimony," he said.

When asked how he became interested in creation science, Jeanson said he grew up in a Christian home and was homeschooled until he reached high school. Playing a big role in his science education were teaching materials from the Institute for Creation Research.

"I'm a second generation creationist, you might say," he said. He explained how he saw that "salvation was inherent in creation science" and that it could be used as a tool for evangelism, another passion of his.

With a promising and lucrative career in medical research open before him, Jeanson said he underwent a career shift at Harvard. "I asked myself, 'How can I use and abuse my training to influence eternity, rather than for temporary gain?'" He considered mission work or attending seminary. He decided, instead, to seek employment at ICR, rather than continuing his research in Boston.

Some may think the decision is career suicide, especially in light of secular science's growing intolerance to views outside of the evolution-only paradigm. But he asked, "What's more important? Money or eternal friends?"

When Jeanson traveled to ICR in Dallas for his interview, he met with ICR President Dr. John Morris, ICR National Representative Dr. Randy Guliuzza, and several others. "They asked me what I was interested in doing. Research? Speaking? Writing? And I said, 'Yeah,'" he laughed.
Dr. Jeanson officially joined ICR as a research associate in September. He hopes his training can contribute to and advance the mission of ICR, while encouraging fellow believers and gaining "eternal friends."

The gospel message is founded on the book of Genesis. Without a keen understanding of these beginnings, much of the majesty and wonder of the "good News" is lost in a casual reading. Indeed, the treasures of what God did on our behalf can get lost amid the sweep of history.

Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson has provided a keen analysis of the "map" that God has structured in the lives and events recorded in the early chapters of Genesis. Like any set of clues, the details are very important. Each word and event becomes a literary brick in the path that leads inexorably to the "exceedingly great and precious promises" (2 Peter 1:4) of God's "inheritance...that does not fade away" (1 Peter 1:4).

Secular geologists have rejected Biblical history and assert that there has been no global flood as described in Genesis. But vast quantities of fossils and sedimentary rock provide a monumental testimony to this historical event and God's recent judgment. Is the worldview of these geologists causing them to "deliberately ignore that the world was deluged with water and perished" (2 Peter 3:3-6)?

This presentation provides the Biblical answer to the fossil record and an encouragement for Christians to trust in the Bible as authoritative on early Earth history. Numerous examples of fossils are provided that defy conventional explanation and interpretation in support of the theory of evolution. When examined, we can easily see that the fossils have been misinterpreted by naturalistic scientists and are much more consistent with catastrophic activity and a young Earth.

About the Speaker:
Chris Ashcraft is a Christian educator, creation scientist, and speaker employed as high school science teacher at Cedar Park Christian Schools where he provides instruction in Biology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Life Science.

Formerly, Chris was a research technician, specialized in plant tissue culture, and genetic transformation technology. He served as a research technician at the Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory at Texas Tech University, he then provided technical support at the Plant Transformation Facility at Oklahoma State University, and lastly was employed as the Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell Washington .

He obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University in 1989, a Master of Science in biology from Texas Tech University in 1996, a Master of Education from the University of Washington in 2008, and a Master is Teaching Math and Science from Seattle Pacific University in 2012.

Chris moved from research science into the teaching profession to serve God in Christian education. His decision was motivated by the impact that secular science is having on people of faith. Today, close to 50% of Christian students lose their belief in God while attending secular schools. This tendency could be lessened if the Church was better equipped to defend the authority of Biblical teachings (1 Peter 3:15). To be prepared for these challenges, it is important that Churches provide regular educational programs on creation and other Bible apologetics.
