The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a powerhouse of mobile technology and is packed with amazing tricks and features. Some of these will be familiar to every Android user, while others are exclusive to the TouchWiz UI. Here are some tips to enrich your experience of using the Galaxy Note 3.

One-handed operation

It’s no mean feat to use a 5.7-inch screen with one hand. Samsung knows this and offers a one-handed operation mode. Just go Settings > Controls and enter the one-handed operation menu to change some elements of the phablet’s UI so that you can reach them easily.

Use the screen while wearing gloves

The Galaxy Note 3 comes with a capacitive touchscreen, which doesn’t rely on pressure to register taps. Unfortunately, this means that you can’t use the screen while wearing gloves. Luckily, Samsung has found a way around it. All you have to do to is increase the display’s sensitivity by going to Settings > Controls and checking the ‘Increase touch sensitivity’ box.

Mute your phone by waving your hand in front of it

Nothing’s more embarrassing than your phone ringing in a quiet environment and your fumbled attempts to mute it. Luckily, the Galaxy Note 3 gives you the option of silencing your phone just by hovering your hand on top of it. Go to Settings > Control > Palm motion to enable this option.

Go completely hands-free

Using your phone while driving is both dangerous and illegal. Instead, use the hands-free option included in your Galaxy Note 3 to easily use your phone while driving. The hands-free options include having your caller information and text read aloud and accepting a call by waving your hand over the display. You can enable this option by going to Settings > Controls > Hands-free

Control your television with your phone

Most Samsung devices have IR blasters, which serve to make your phone a substitute for your TV remote. Just open Samsung’s WatchON app and enter your region details along with your TV type to make your phone into a TV remote.

According to information from Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily News reported by G4Games the Google Nexus 6 is equipped with a MediaTek chip 64-bit instead of a supposed Qualcomm chip or an Intel processor. It could be a quad-core processor MT6732 1.5GHz, or a powerful eight-core MT6752 with a frequency of 2 GHz.

Whatever processor model chosen, it would be a powerhouse for a smartphone category Nexus 6. The arrival of a 64-bit chip on the Nexus 6 is not unlikely, since Android should evolve to support the 64-bit in the coming months. (EP)

And there we have it. Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone, which hasn’t even been out a month, is now officially the tech giant’s fastest selling phone ever, with the company announcing late Wednesday that sales had crossed the 10 million mark.

“Launched globally on April 27, the phone is estimated to be selling at a rate of four units per second,” Samsung said in a statement announcing the news.

The Android-powered Galaxy S4, with its 5-inch 441-PPI display, 13-megapixel camera and slew of snazzy features, is evidently proving a big hit with consumers in the 110 countries where its currently sold. Ten million sales in less than a month makes sales of the previous iterations of the handset appear positively sluggish, though they were, of course, considered impressive at the time.

The Galaxy S3 crossed the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch in May last year, while the S2 took five months to reach the same milestone. As for the Galaxy S, the first handset in the range, that took all of seven months to sell 10 million units after launching in 2010.

“On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung Galaxy S4,” Samsung co-CEO JK Shin said in the statement. “At Samsung we’ll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people.”

The Galaxy’s S4’s impressive sales figures also indicate a narrowing of the gap previously comfortably enjoyed by Apple with its iPhone – for the first three months of this year, Apple sold an average of 12.5 million handsets per month. Could we see the S4 outselling the iPhone before the end of 2013, or will sales tail off once the initial enthusiasm for the handset fades?

Late last year it was reported that Samsung is aiming to sell more than 500 million smartphones and feature phones in 2013, improving on sales in 2012 by around 20 percent. Based on Wednesday’s news, phones in the company’s Galaxy S range are likely to make up a sizable proportion of those sales.

iPhone 6 is the presumptive name for Apple's next-generation iPhone. Yes, it will be the 8th generation phone in Apple's product lineup, internally referred to as iPhone7,1, but don't let those numbers distract you. Apple can call any phone it releases by any marketing name it wants and the next number of 5/5s is 6. So, iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 screen size speculation

For a long time now rumors have swirled about Apple going to a larger display size for the iPhone 6. The original iPhone had a 3.5-inch 480x320 standard density display. The iPhone 4 took things to 960x640 double-density "Retina" and the iPhone 5 to 4-inches and 1136x640 double-density. That's a pattern of steady improvements every two years on the two years, and if Apple sticks to it, we're due another.

So how big is bigger? Competing phones range from around 4.3- to 4.7- to 5-inches, with the latter size increasingly the norm. Also, how would Apple scale their interface? Would they just stretch the 4-inch iPhone up to 5-inches the way they stretched the iPad's down into the iPad mini? Would they add more pixels like they did for the iPhone 5? And could they increase the screen size without increasing the device size, by going edge-to-edge with the display and modifying the chin and the forehead to once again make something big seem small?

If Apple stays conservative they could scale up the interface this year, add more pixels come iPhone 7 in 2016. If they still have their foot down on the gas, however, maybe we'll see something closer to 1080p HD

Product categories come and go, grow and wither, revolutionize the world and then slowly fade into a state of cold, quiet, everlasting obsolescence. It happens all the time, sometimes over the course of just a year or two (see: netbooks) and, while companies have made billions by establishing truly new categories, rarely has anybody rocked the world by splitting the difference between two very closely aligned ones.

That's exactly what Apple is trying to do here. The company's MacBook Pro line is one of the most respected in the industry for those who need an ostensibly professional laptop. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air is among the best (if not conclusively the best) thin-and-light laptops on the market. Now, a new player enters the fray: the MacBook Pro with Retina display. It cleanly slides in between these two top-shelf products, while trying to be simultaneously serious and fast, yet slim and light. Is this, then, a laptop that's all things to all people, the "best Mac ever" as it was called repeatedly in the keynote? Or, is it more of acompromised, misguided attempt at demanding too much from one product? Let's find out.

It's an eye-catching computer that combines everything good about ThinkPads – great keyboard, sturdy design, solid performance — with a fit and finish I didn't expect from the company's "black box" line of laptops. Its price was a little high and its bloatware portion was heaping, but it was (and still is) one of my favorite Windows 7 ultrabooks

Now that Windows 8 is here, in all its touch-friendly, colorful glory, Lenovo's released a new X1 Carbon with a touchscreen. The X1 Carbon Touch is otherwise virtually identical to its untouchable sibling: same processor, same operating system, same beautiful matte black carbon fiber body (though a half-pound heavier). It comes at a $150 premium, sort of – the cheapest Carbon model is $1,249 and the cheapest Touch is $1,499, but the Touch's specs match the $1,349 model. I spent some time with the Carbon Touch trying to decide if it's worth the extra weight and the extra price, plus whether or not touchscreens are the future of laptops

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple on Tuesday unveiled a slimmer version of its top-selling full-size tablet computer, dubbed the "iPad Air," along with a revamped iPad Mini with an improved high-definition display.

The new iPad Air is 43 percent thinner than the version it replaces, weighs just one pound (450 grams), and is "screaming fast," Apple vice president Phil Schiller said at an unveiling.

Apple also showed an upgraded iPad Mini, which has high-definition "retina" display along with faster computing power and graphics.

The two new iPads will be sold alongside the existing versions, starting November 1 in a number of countries.

The iPad Air will start at $499 and the new Mini version at $399 for US customers. Apple will cut the prices of the older iPad versions.

The new iPads feature the Apple-designed A7 chip with 64-bit "desktop-class architecture," Apple said.

"iPad created an entirely new mobile computing experience, and the new iPad Air is another big leap ahead. It is so thin, light and powerful, once you hold one in your hand you will understand what a tremendous advancement this is," said Schiller.

The new iPads come on the same day Microsoft began selling an upgraded version of its Surface tablet, and as Nokia unveiled its own tablet computer.

Industry tracker Gartner on Monday forecast that global tablet shipments will reach 184 million units this year in a 53.4 percent rise from last year.

The iPad remains the largest-selling tablet, according to surveys, but its market share is being eroded by rivals using the Google Android operating system.

Apple is also under pressure to adapt to the popularity of premium tablets with high-quality screens in the seven- to eight-inch (18- to 20-centimeter) range where the Mini competes.

Network connectivity for the part , the S3 supports 3G + ( HSDPA 21 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps) , WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0 ( A2DP ) , GPS (A- GPS) and even has DLNA and an NFC chip for future use contactless services . If the single connector microUSB type, it can also act as audio- video output ( MHL ) . Photo / video side , Samsung has opted for an 8 megapixel sensor ( 3264 x 2448 pixels) , capable of recording Full HD footage (1920 x 1080 pixels). Last icing on the cake , it comes standard with an FM tuner that is sorely lacking in the iPhone.

One last word to conclude on autonomy and the design of smartphone. No great surprise side battery (removable here) , intensive use ( 3G/WiFi ), the terminal will not hold a full day but it is the lot of all smartphones of the moment. Side look, Samsung has kept its copy precisely to avoid a new trial from Apple . With its rounded hull white or blue polycarbonate , its screen XXL and wasp waist , the S3 is very different from the iPhone 4. Impossible to confuse . If Galaxy is now a very good alternative to the iPhone 4S , he will find his way in the autumn version 5 of the Apple device. Rest with its intrinsic technical qualities and the arrival of Android 4.1 , it will smoothly rope for future battle ahead .

If you use your phone a lot to listen to all your favorite music, here is a new tweak that might interest you.

Aria will change some little display in the application but also add some pretty useful features.

Aria is developed by NWRP and will bring you new features and a new view in tabs “Albums” and “Artists” Music for your application.

This new display will now take the form of a grid with a little extra for the view “Albums” to which is added 3 functions quite practical.

In August 2013 the first rumors of a console designed by Amazon on Android, with an equivalent model to the Ouya or Gamestick circulating. Mid-March, it was a picture of a joystick stamped Amazon that had appeared on the site of Anatel, the Brazilian equivalent of the ARCEP. A few days later, it was the turn of TechCrunch report the Amazon Fireproject, a key competitor HDMI Chromecast that would stream from your smartphone or the tablet, hosted online content.

Finally, the answer should arrive next Wednesday. In an invitation sent to the American press, Amazon says provide an “update on [his] model of video.” The conference will be presented by Peter Larsen, head of the Amazon Kindledivision, indicating that it will be so much new material and not a simple add-on service.

Introduced with much fanfare at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the mobile promises to be powerful. At the launch conference, HTC has also insisted on the picture and audio capabilities of the terminals marked "One." What about in practice? The HTC X One is a simple design rather effective. The polycarbonate shell, a lightweight and rugged, has declined to launch in two colors: matte gray or bright white. HTC also take this opportunity to get closer to what constitutes the norm considering the iPhone or most smartphones Windows Phone: It is no longer talking about battery or removable micro SD slot.
In addition, there are two cameras, a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a 0, a 3-megapixel camera on the front. 8 GB internal memory will be great. Although one of the new models with the latest comes Android 4.0 aka ice cream sandwich, however it is can get the apps not via Google play, but in the HI-market.

It is still unclear when and if at all the low budget tablets by Philips in Europe will be at the start.

LG Optimus True HD LTE P936 goes official in Germany [UPDATED]

We, here, on the Old continent couldn’t enjoy the 720p goodness of the 4.5" HD-IPS LCD display, not to mention the LTE connectivity.

Now LG is ready to right the wrong as it announced the LG Optimus True HD LTE P936 in Germany. The phone runs on a Snapdragon chipset with dual-core 1.5GHz processor and packs an 8MP camera with 1080p video capture. It runs Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and comes with a 16GB microSD card. The Optimus True HD LTE also packs T-DMB connectivity.

But the network data connectivity is where it gets really interesting - the phone has both HSPA+ and LTE support. LTE coverage is still rather spotty in Europe, but carriers around the continent are busy testing and expanding their networks, so this should change within an year or so.

There's no official launch date for the LG Optimus True HD LTE P936, or anything on which carriers will get it.

While you wait for LG to clarify that, you might want to read our LG Nitro review (that's AT&T's version of the Optimus LTE), or learn how the 720p screen of the South Korean version stacks up against the 720p Super AMOLED of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Huawei working on WP8 phones and Windows 8 LTE tablet

At this year's MWC Huawei declared its intentions to storm the top of the Android food chain with its Ascend D1,D quad and D quad XL. The company also introduced the Media Pad 10 FHD, which is one of the most interesting upcoming droid tablets.

And it turns out, the Huawei ambitions aren't limited to the Android market. The latest rumor suggests that at least 70 people at Huawei are working on developing Windows Phone Apollo-based smartphones, which will become available by the end of 2012.

A particularly juicy bit of the report claims that at least one of those will go for the very attractive price of $300. Also on the Huawei agenda is a Windows 8-running tablet, an LTE-packing one at that.

Well, there is still nothing on the specs of those devices, but we guess we’ll be getting to know more about them as the launch of Windows Phone Apollo and Windows 8 nears.

International Sony Xperia ion (LT28i) announced in Taiwan

In a press conference in Taiwan, the company unveiled just that - the Sony Xperia ion LT28i (the AT&T version, which was exclusive to the US until recently, is dubbed LT28at).

The phone is almost identical to the US carrier option - 4.6" 720p LCD screen backed by Mobile BRAVIA technology, 12MP camera with 1080p video capture, Snapdragon chipset with 1.5GHz dual-core processor, NFC and 16GB built-in memory (expandable with microSD cards).
