Hi all.

Whats up. Its been awhile.

I wonder if I still have any followers? Anyone out there?

I have been busy with nursing school which takes up a lot of my time and my blog has been neglected!

But since I did actually do something fun a few weekends ago, I will share.

I went to Nashville for my friend, Brittany's bachelorette party and it.was.a.blast.

FL Recap//Hate when Vacation Ends

4//Beach Day on Sanibel Island

5//We took the boat out for the day and went to Cabbage Key. You can only get to the island by boat. The restaurant on Cabbage Key is known for their burgers. Supposedly Jimmy Buffett wrote Cheeseburger in Paradise on this island. Oh and that drink? Its called a Cabbage Creeper. Its rum, pina colada juice and kahlua. It tastes like the beach in a glass. Not joking.

6//So the picture on the left was taken back in 2010 when we were last at Cabbage Key and the picture on the right was from this trip. Its funny because I knew we took a picture like this before, but didn't know that both times Rick had a drink in his right hand. ((Its funny to look at))

8//We didn't take too many pics on this trip. This is one of the only ones we took at night.

{Loving} ... that its March! I'm going to Florida in 2 days, St. Patty's Day is this month and I am going to Nashville on the 22nd :) Fun stuff planned!

{Listening to} ... the country station but am still loving Mumford's new song, I Will Wait. Oh and every time I hear the Thrift Shop song by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on the radio, I cant help but turn the radio one notch higher :)

{Sitting} ... at work right now. Bored.

{Excited for} ... FLORIDA! I leave on Wednesday and cannot wait to feel the sunshine on my skin! Its been wayyy to long. My boyfriend and I will be down there for a week at his parent's condo. I can hear the angels singing.

{Drinking} ... Juice. I have been juicing lately and LOVING it. I know Ms Katie and Ms Stephanie always have great recipes and I am going to try Steph's Jesus Juice this week :)

{Trying to} ... get organized. I need to reorganize my closet and get rid of some clothes. Spring cleaning as soon as I am back from FL!

{Thankful for} ... my friends, family and boyfriend.

{Reading} ... Catching Fire (I know, I know, a little late reading this book but I never got a chance to read it and I am just now catching up!)

{Needing} ... a manicure and pedicure. Thankfully I am getting my toes done tonight!

{Planning to} ... start saving money.

{Watching} ... the Bachelor tonight! Also, LOVING Vanderpump Rules, so sad the season is over!

{Suffering from} ... a case of the Mondays, so hard to work when I have vacation on my mind!

{Proud of} ... myself. I passed my last nursing exam last week and feel a huge sense of RELIEF!

Hi Friends.

Yep, I'm behind on blogging.

Just a little update.

Here is what I did for Valentines day (yes, I know, it was a week ago).

But I just had to share.

My boyfriend and I made lobster at home. It was quite the experience.

1. I apologized to the lobster before eating him and gave him an air kiss. 2. My sister sent me Cheryl's cookies at work. Yum. 3. My sweet 3 year old nephew came to my work and gave me tulips.

4. These beautiful roses came from my boyfriend (a day BEFORE valentines day). Extra brownie points for him :)

5. These lobsters were HUGE. Mine was 2.3 lbs and my boyfriend's was 2.5 lbs.

6. Annnnd the finished product. The lobster tasted DELISH! I was surprised how good they tasted, like restaurant style.

My insta-life: {5} things

Lately all I have had time for is instagram. So if you follow me, you may be caught up on my life, if not, you may just think I fell off the face of the earth. Working full time plus nursing school leaves no time for blogging. So I will be popping on and off of here and blogging as much as I can.

1. First things first. I got a new car. Last week was rough. I broke down TWO times coming home from work in my Jeep Liberty. Both times I had to get towed. Long story short, I leased my first new car. I got a 2013 Honda Civic. It will take some getting used to since I am used to having a Jeep, but nothin' beats a new car smell. Am I right or am I right?

2. Okay, so I'm always looking for cheap wine that actually tastes good. I am not a cheap person by any means, I just don't like to spend 20 bucks on a bottle of wine. So with that being said, I found a great tasting wine at World Market for only $5.99. What a steal! Here is another wine I found for cheap that tastes great too.

3. One word. Target. They have the CUTEST shoes out right now for Spring. And a pair of wedges that I just HAVE to have in my closet. Take a look.

4. My nephew's 3rd birthday party was this past weekend. This was his cake. How stinkin' cute, right? The bowling pins were made out of rice crispy treats, so creative!

5. I am all about eating healthy but I splurged a little last night. My good friend, Michelle and I went to a new place in Columbus called Pies & Pints. Basically they serve beer and pizza. Two of my favorite things. The pizza was delish! If you live in C-Bus, check it out!

New Years Resolutions (a month late)

Oh Hi.

Yes. I am still here.

I am currently busy.overwhelmed. and broke.

Last night I was on my way home from work when my car just stopped. In the middle of the road. Ugh. What a nightmare. Had to call AAA. Get my car towed. Now its currently in the shop being fixed. (I'm sure its gonna cost a fortune!). I am so done with this car. I will be searching for a new car very.very.soon.

So.

I got to thinking and realized that I never got around to making my New Years Resolutions.

I wont call them resolutions but "lifestyle changes."

Lately I have been spending too much money on stupid stuff.

Like going out to eat.

Shopping online, etc.

Also I am a bit of a procrastinator. So I need to change a few things in my life.

That is why I am making a list of "changes."

Wanna know what they are?

Ok. Ready.Set.

GO.

I will wear more color.

I will take better care of my skin.

I will organize my closet.

I will take better care of my clothes. I will get rid of clothes.

I will stick to a workout routine.

I will wake up earlier.

I will take my lunch to work.

I will spend more time with family.

I will buy cute new workout clothes.

I will stress less. and worry less.

I will learn something new. (I want to take photography classes)

I will clean my makeup.

I will treat myself to one indulgence a week. (yes, I made this last week)

I will stop procrastinating.

I will keep my car clean. (inside and out)

I will save money. (THIS IS A BIG ONE FOR ME)

These are just SOME things I need to work on. only a month late too, haha :)

Let's talk TV shows

The Bachelor: Duh. What girl doesn't enjoy the Bachelor? Okay, I'm sure there's a few. But honestly, my Monday nights are devoted to this show. I either tell my boyfriend to go upstairs and watch something else or watch it with me. He usually picks option one. Who are ya'll liking this season? I definitely like Desiree. I think its still too early to tell. But I did read a spoiler of who he picks in the end, and I'm not sure if I would have picked her for him, but we'll see if its actually true.

American Idol: Yes, I do watch this show even though its in its like 25th season or whatever. It will be interesting to see how Nicki and Mariah interact with each other. I'm not really a fan of either, so I'm going to either love it or hate it. I wish they would stop changing judges though. I miss the Simon Cowell days.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Ah, the drama. These women, I swear. Get.it.together. I must admit, I do think Taylor has changed since her husband's passing, but she still seems to be a bit of a mess. I liked how Kyle's husband, Maurico, told Brandi off. I'm not really a Brandi fan. I'm anxious to see what this whole secret is that Adrienne has been keeping? I'm guessing it has to do with their divorce? Anyone know?

Nashville: This show is getting good. I really like Julianne's football player husband, but it looks like they will be getting a divorce on tonigh't episode. Anyone else into this show as well?

Millionare Matchmaker: The new season has started. My favorite thing about this show is when Patti picks the girls apart when she screens them because usually what she says about them is true. I like how blunt and honest Patti is because some of these people need a good a$$ kicking when it comes to dating.

The League: Okay, so my boyfriend got me watching this show. It really is hilarious. The show is about fantasy football, hence the name, The League. If you get a chance to watch this show, I promise you will love it.

Catfish: So, I don't watch that many MTV shows anymore, but I am intrigued by this show. I started watching this show and then the movie came on over the weekend. The movie is really creepy. Honestly, if you are into like 20/20, dateline, independent film type movies, this one is for you. For those of you that don't know, this show/movie is about Internet dating and people that pretend to be someone that they are not. Since watching the movie, I cant stop watching the TV show.

Weekend Update + A case of the Mondays

Over the weekend I attended my friend's wedding in Cleveland.

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL.

Only downside? I attended alone. Yes, alone. I knew maybe 4 people at the whole wedding. It wasn't too bad though, I enjoyed wine, cake and danced a bit! Oh and another thing, I got a speeding ticket on the way to Cleveland ... $223!! Killer! I'm still so mad about it!

Also starting yeast free diet again. I did a trail week last week. I did pretty good, the weekend was hard especially since there was cake at the wedding. I made spaghetti squash, which turned out really yummy. I ordered Sweet-N-Natural from Ms. Stephanie's work website (so I can make some yeast free desserts) and last night I made yeast free chicken tortilla soup for my lunch.

and yes, I was going 82 in a 65 but my excuse is that I was driving my mom's car which drives wayyy different than mine and I really didn't realize I was going that fast. Lesson learned I guess?

Oh and I have a niceee little cold which makes me sound so stuffed up on the phone at work but I am going to fight through it and attend a spin class tonight with Ms. Katie!

Friday's Letters: The Bachelor, A Wedding and Yeast Free

Wow, this week seemed forever long. Probably because its the first full week I've worked in about a month. Dear Blog, I have had a love/hate relationship with you lately. After losing all my pictures through Picasa, I thought about not even blogging anymore or even starting a fresh new blog, but I am going to try to spruce this one up (once I find all my old pictures that is ...). Dear Bachelor, I am so glad you are back on television so I can sit and waste 2 hours of my life every Monday night. Dear sickness that seems to be coming on, please stay away. I have managed to get through most of the winter without getting sick, don't start now. Please. Dear Gym, I actually worked out 4 times this week, I am pretty proud of myself. I also tried Hot Yoga, stepping outside the box here. Dear wedding that I am attending tomorrow by myself, I really hope I know more than like 2 people at this wedding. I have never attended a wedding by myself ... I am a litttttle nervous. Dear Yeast Free diet, I am really trying to stick with this. This week was sort of a trial, I am going to really crack down on Monday. Anyone else doing this too? Check out Steph's blog, where she talks all about it. More {Colorado} Pics

Hi friends!

Okay, so this post took me way to long to do. Ever since I lost over half of my photos I have been having trouble uploading my pictures from the pictures that I have saved from both home and work, so this post is the best I could do. My photos may be uneven and look out of sorts, so I am sorry in advance for that. I wanted to finish uploading the rest of the pictures from my Colorado trip and show all of you some of the fun things I did while I was there. Some pictures are still on my phone, but if you follow me on instagram (@avalento) I'm sure you saw most of my pics :) Anywho, here are a few more pictures from the trip.

We visited New Belgium Brewery. SO much freakin' fun. We got to sample all of their most popular beers, my favorite is called Fat Tire, but unfortunately they don't distribute to Ohio ... yet. Oh and it was snowing on this day... as you can see in the picture. And behind us? The Waffle Lab, incredible. All the sandwiches are made with waffles.

See ... told ya.

We devoured it!

Inside these oak barrels? Sour beer. Has anyone ever tasted sour beer? Its tastes just like it sounds. It actually tastes pretty good. If you smell it, it kinda smells like the beer has gone bad, but honestly it does taste good.

Here is most of Rick's family minus Kim's husband. This was a night out on the town without Rick's six nieces and nephews ... adult night out! haha. I am drinking a coffee drink here, lameo right!? Actually it was really good :)

We visited another brewery near Kim's house - Fort Collins Brewery. We were able to order flights of beer here. Oh and we ate bacon wrapped pretzels dipped in beer cheese. To die for. Can you see why I need to be on a diet now?

We went skiing at Eldora Ski Resort. We weren't able to go to Vail or Breck on this trip because it was a little too far from where Rick's sister lived. But this was good enough for me. I haven't been skiing in FOREVER, so this was a good place for me to practice. It was sunny the day we went so it wasn't too cold skiing. Rick had to follow behind me just in case I fell. haha. (hes a pretty good snowboarder).

Lots of fun skiing ... and drinking in the lodge after? Even better!

Happy New Year!

I know I have been away for sometime now, but I took a little break from

blogging for the holidays.

And if you haven't already noticed, ALL of my pictures got erased! OMG I am so BUMMED!

I was cleaning out my Picasa account and stupid me didn't realize that my Picasa account is connected to my blog and when I delete pictures from Picasa it also deletes pictures on my blog, complete FAIL.

So I may try to upload a few pictures and get my blog looking good again but for the meantime I will just try to come up with new posts and forget about the disaster that happened with all my pictures.

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year and cant wait to catch up on your blogs.

I deleted about six months worth of photos last night on my google chromebook

and when I went to blog today, none of my pictures were there!!

SOOO BUMMED, does ANYONE know how to restore photos that were deleted out of picasa?

Five Things

Happy Friday to you all.

Starbucks//There is just something about Starbucks and Christmas. I feel like I need a coffee in hand to accomplish Christmas shopping. Anyone else?

Very Jane//My favorite ornament this year. I ordered it off VeryJane.com. If you don't already subscribe to this site. Do it now.

Wrapping Presents//I just really like wrapping presents. I love to find new ribbon to make all the prezzies look super pretty.

Smells//My house smells amazing this holiday season. This is as close as I am going to get to a beach this December. But honestly this smells like Christmas and beach combined.

Fort Collins, CO//I will be leaving for Colorado on Wednesday of next week. I cant wait to get away for a bit and explore CO. I have never been there. Any suggestions for me as to good restaurants/bars/breweries for all you folks that may live or visit there often?

How darling are these homemade cinnamon applesauce ornaments?

That's why I decided to make 'em and link up for Saw It .Pinned It. Did It.

My finished product :)

Ingredients: Cinnamon Applesauce and Ground Cinnamon. Easy enough right!?

I mixed half a cup of cinnamon and a half a cup of applesauce together in a mixing bowl. You will want to mix with your hands because it will make sort of a sticky dough. (I only used half a cup for each ingredient, but if you want to make more ornaments use a whole cup for each ingredient).

Roll out dough just like you would roll dough for cookies. I used parchment paper underneath, but the dough kept sticking, so I think its better to just roll dough out on the counter top.

Use any cookie cutter you wish, and start forming ornaments :)

Its amazing how much these look like cookies. They looked so good I wanted to eat them! My boyfriend kept saying, "are you sure I cant eat them?" haha

Make sure you make a hole for the string to be tied through. I used a skewer to make the hole.

Stick these babies in the oven for about an hour and a half on 200 degrees.

and there you have it, ornaments that smell amazzzzzing!

I bought the string at Michaels. I couldn't find the string in the original picture, which is what I really wanted to use.

I hung a few ornaments on the tree but also used them as tags on gifts :)

Weekend Update: Its the Simple Things

If any of you follow me on instagram, you will know that I have been taking in every second of Christmas. This includes watching the Hallmark Channel and ABC Family. And I don't care that I am 28 years old and still watching these cheesy movies, because yes, they are super cheesy but what other time of year can you sit on the couch, admire your Christmas tree and sip cocoa?

My boyfriend got me a new computer for my birthday! Its the new Samsung Chromebook.

It is SO lightweight and doesn't have a fan in it so its SUPER quiet and doesn't ever overheat.

I'm excited because Ive never had a computer that was all mine, well in college I did,

but it was a Dell that was like a million pounds and seems like forever ago.

Do you like my Buckeye tree?

I love this little tree. I got it at a Christmas fair a few years ago.

I love the snowmen that spell out O-H-I-O.

My friends and I recently did a supper club get together. Each month someone makes a meal at their house and we do a little get together. I think next month is my month. Any ideas for me? // PeppermintMallows. SO GOOD. As you can see from the picture above, I already tried these in my hot chocolate. YUM. // Peppermint Stick Cliff Bar. This is really good. Can you tell I'm into peppermint right now? // Clean Eating magazine. I am excited to make some things out of this magazine. I need to start eating healthier but I think I may wait until AFTER the holidays :)

And finally, I passed by this house over the weekend. There were like 6 blow up things in the front of this house and as you can see this was a tiny house. I HAD to take a picture ... craziness.

Friday's Letters: Christmas, TV, & Pretzel Crisps

Dear Friday, ah sigh of relief. I can actually sleep in tomorrow because I am D-O-N-E with classes for the semester and don't have to wake up at the butt crack-o-dawn Saturday morning. Dear Hallmark Christmas movies, I totally agree with Ashley. You are so cheesy, but still love watching you. Dear Christmas tree, I just love admiring you. Especially at night, when I am sitting on the couch. Is it weird that I think I should sit down with a cup of cocoa each night just because its Christmas and its cozy? Dear Nashville, I am bummed that the season is over. Is Juliette really getting married!? Her BF is totally hot though. Also, did ya'll know that Gunner has a British accent in real life? Dear Ashley and JP's wedding, I already am planning on popping some bubbly for Dec. 16th. Can't wait to watch the wedding! Dear Christmas lights, I wish you would stay up all year long. Dear abs class, I thought I would be more sore today, but not so much ... well, yet... at least. How you feelin' today, Miss Katie!? And lastly, Dear pretzel crisps, can you please sell the Christmas flavors all the time? If y'all haven't tried these, you mustttt!

Seriously, how many old Bath and Body Works Jars do you have!?

If you are like me, I have like 100.

So what better way to put these old jars to good use!

Cute right!? wanna know how to make these?

Step 1: Put old candles in the freezer for about an hour. And if you are me ... forget about them, and leave them in there for like 3 days. Oops!

Step 2: Take the wax out of the jar with a knife. The wax will be hard at this point, so you may need to crack it first with the knife and then once you get one piece out, the rest is easy.

Step 3: Rinse out the jar.

Step 4: Peel off the old labels. The label on the front and the sticker on the bottom of the jar as well.

Step 5: Rinse until all the wax is out of the jar. I had to rinse a couple of times. I used soap and water to clean the jar too. The original post said to use vinegar or baby oil to remove excess wax. I didn't have to do that with mine. I just used soap and water and when I was finished I used Windex to shine up the glass.

And Voila!

You are done. Fill jars with whatever you choose. I decided to use them as tins for our bathroom since our Q-Tips seem to always be all of the place in a drawer somewhere.

so these drink recipes will have to do for now.

White Sangria with Pomegranate Seeds and Lime

Recipe:

1 Bottle of White Wine

3 cans of Sprite

a few ounces of Grand Marnier

2 Limes

Pom seeds

This drink is delish, ya'll. It reminded me of a Wine Spritzer.

Very light and great to serve at a holiday party.

OH christmas tree

I literally decorated this whole tree by myself. The BF is not feeling well this week, so I let him sit on the couch while I put every single ornament on. Actually he DID help with the lights, I'll give him that! The floor around the tree is still a mess with pine needles, I have to vacuum when I get home, but I am glad its done. The worst part about decorating is putting up the lights, what a pain!

Now I can sit back and admire ... sigh ...

Rick putting the tree in the stand. And a few of my favorite ornaments :) Oh and I hung little itty bitty stockings this year. We don't have a fireplace so I cant hang normal stockings, one thing I hate about our condo.

A Buckeye/Birthday weekend!

Brrrr Saturday was a cold one, but it didn't stop us from tailgating for the

OSU vs. Michigan game.

Oh and it was my birthday so you better believe I was out and about!

The day started off with this.

lots of friends and fun.

This is how Rick was dressed. Long johns and all. And those crock pots? Filled with chili, mac and cheese and queso ... sooo good.

The girls and I on Friday night ... Oh and Marilyn showed up too!

Good Times. This weekend was just what I needed. Time with family and friends.

I have so much to be thankful for. I hope you all had a fun filled weekend too!

Anddd the Bucks finished the year off undefeated! 12 an 0 baby!!
