It's been a while and here I am remembering my blog. I think I need to be conscious again with writing as though this is the only way I can express all the emotions I have inside.

This past few weeks seems to be my weakest days (physically weak). I've never been sick continuously, I felt like my immune system has changed and I tend to have depression sometimes. First few weeks I have this severe head ache and that's why I went to see optometrist and there I got astigmatism. Second I always have back pain and insomnia seems coming back, then I got stomach problem continuously for few days and that I lose my appetite and lastly I had acute tonsillitis which makes me shiver the whole day due to fever.

My depressions has many factors though... Work, pressure, financial hahaha... oh well... at the end of the day we just need to realize that we are still lucky to live...

I guess having a positive spirit will remove all those anxieties yet sometimes we tend to be carried away with anger and frustrations... Sometimes its difficult to drive our emotions as it tries to drive us...

Me and my Social Needs

Indeed I’m tired now, but I felt I have an adrenaline to write about a good experience of inner triumph I am feeling right now.

ood because for the past few weeks I felt like a friendship circle welcomed me to be a new member of their circle. At first I thought it won’t last, I thought once or twice will be enough and everything will be over but to my surprise, they always want to make sure of having me to be with them in any chances I can be and I’m so honored to know that. I felt the genuine longing of having my company to be part of theirs.

Maslow’s theory of Hierarchy of Needs states that human’s first and basic need is the Physiological needs. As human we basically need air, water, nourishment and sleep, of course I agree with that. Once these basic needs are achieved then we will start to secure ourselves. We wanted to make sure that we are always safe; we want to make sure that we are financially stable with financial reserves and if these are met then we will start to fulfill our social needs. We will start to long for a need of friends, a need for belonging and a need to give and receive love and this is where I got trapped.
As for my history, at my younger days I am indeed a socially inclined teenager. My teenage friends are extremes. I belong to a wild but fun group and I love them. I really love them and I miss them. I miss those crazy moments but life has to move on and change.
When I go to college, I belong to a different group with different personalities. I am the crazy one, we have Ms. Naïve, we have Ms. ambitious, we have Ms. Businesswoman, we have Ms. Leader and decision maker and I have one best buddy whom I linger on, we were so close that I couldn’t imagine losing her after graduation. She helped me so much; we helped each other a lot as if we are sisters. She is very close to my family and I get close to her family too. However after graduation we lost each other… I miss you wherever you are now. “Nunca te Olvidare“. That was my first lost and that my personality of being Ms. Friendship suddenly vanished. It hurts… but I endure.
Until I fall for love, and the stupid thing I did is that I gave everything. I gave all the trust, the love, the time, everything and then again I lost him. I lost a best friend and a lover. How can I trust again? I see people as impostors, plastics and users. I started to hate my life and the world and that’s why I live on my own. I started to don’t trust easily, I reject many friendship attempts. I started to live my life with less social interaction, I set boundary imposing to myself that social interactions will only be done when it’s necessary.
I became loner. I pretended to be tough enough to act that I don’t need anyone but myself even though deep inside my heart it bleeds like hell. It hurts. I was in deep pain and I thought the healing process will take forever.
But time heals wounds; I never thought I can be better. I am not at my best at this point in time but I’m better. I have few good people in my workplace; I also have good students who became my good friends.
Finally, I am happy to belong to a good circle of friends. I felt this feeling of something like “I belong to this circle”. When I wasn’t there, I know they want me to be there; and when I’m there; I know that it is complete because I’m there.
There’s no perfect friendship but I just feel good being around there. I didn’t feel that I was a burden, a problem or something. I know I may spoil someone’s mood or irritate someone at times because I’m human; thus, I’m not perfect and they are not perfect too because they are just humans; even so, what matters most is that I know, I belong to imperfect yet best circle of friends I can have.
Thank you people for accepting me, thank you people for inspiring me, thank you people for helping me to open up again, thank you people because you helped me reborn who I am and who I am suppose to be.

MIC’s 20th Birthday – Gala Night 2009

The preparation was over, the meetings, the paper works, the marketing, the search for dress, for everything; gala night fever is already over. It ain't easy to organize an event where VIPs are invited at the same time the pressure of making sure that students will be satisfied and will be happy.

Tiring as it is because it does mean an extra job other than the daily tasks. However, if I think about the students, I would say being bushed out means nothing. Gala night is the biggest event we can offer to the students thus, we want to make sure that all of them would be satisfied, happy and will feel they belong to a one big happy family.

30th October is at full blast, preparation of attendances, name tags, order of the program, booking of general rehearsal and the most hated last minute tasks. We had dinner at the same time I should say an open forum with Mr. Felix Straven, Managing Director of NCC Education, Manchester, UK in I Lotus which lasted until almost 11pm.(It's tiring). There after, comes the adrenaline to stay awake to finalized the guests list and table seating arrangement (I have to make sure that no one will be left out alone in a strange company, couples must be together and friends must be together that is difficult though). I started doing that at 11pm and I stopped working at 5:30am. (unfinished sigh). I took a nap and woke up at 7am to head to Empire Hotel for the final general rehearsal and there it goes, after the rehearsal I headed back the office to finalize the VIP list. Doing this is easy yes, but some guests did their attendance confirmation in last minute so I have to wait until 4:00pm. Time is running and I have 2 hours left to prepare myself. After printing everything, I go off straight to empire without taking bath. Thanks to Romella and Riza for taking my taking dress and other stuff from home and thanks to my sister too for packing my stuff.

Yeah what a day, I should suppose to be having a little nap so that my aura would be at my prettiest hehehe well, I just thought that it is not my night but it’s the students’ night. Thanks to Romella again for my make up, although we have little time but alteast it's well done...

6:30 pm, students are arriving, guests are arriving and finally the guest of honour arrived at 7:00 pm and the event was officially launched by welcoming the arrival of the Guest of Honour Datin Paduka Dyg Apsah Binti Haji Abd Majid. Permanent Secretary (Core Education) Ministrty of Education Brunei.

Everything goes well except for some technical errors from the lousy staff hahaha… I can complain because customer is always right. How can you be satisfied when you have a great singer who is about to sing the highlight of the song and then the microphone stopped working? And how about the smoke machine? We only saw 1 blow from the smoke machine and that’s it, reason was, it gets over heat? Whatever L****….lol…

Well, that’s it; as long as the students' feedback are all positive then I commend our team. Everyone did their job with passion. I also commend the students who were involved such as the MCs, the ushers (they are very good), and especially the performers. The live band, I should say WOW amazing people… Great voice and great music I just love them... The dancers are cute and graceful. The singers were able to hide the nervous feelings and the dance floor gets wild when the DJ played low.. low.. low.. low… nice one DJ Khaliq I know your music compilation has been rejected few times but the outcome was great.

This year is really a good one because the Part Time Students treat the Full Time as their little brothers and sisters. They allow them to join the group and had fun together, that was a very sweet moment. Indeed, a happy family.

KUDOS to all and I’m so glad and relieved to see everyone happy…

An invitation to initiate environmental friendly lifestyle now!!!
Hey people… Are you worried with what is happening to our Mother Earth? Have you heard the song wake me up when September ends? What’s with September? It all started when September 2009 is almost leaving… We had Ketsana (Ondoy) typhoon that claimed almost 200 lives and left millions homeless in the Philippines, and then went Cambodia and Vietnam which also claimed over 100 lives and caused many establishments destroyed. On the 30th an earthquake in Sumatra Indonesia claimed over 700 lives, 500 buildings collapsed, 1, 100 buildings were damaged and left thousands of people terrified and helpless. On the 29th of September at American Samoa Island a TSUNAMI caused by an earthquake took almost a hundred lives and swipe many towns in the Island.
A week thereafter, a typhoon Parma (Pepeng) hit Northern Luzon in the Philippines which caused many landslides burying 200 lives, crops were destroyed, towns were submerged in water, and people were starving. Subsequently, Parma went to Taiwan, and what’s next? Yeah, all these are calamities of nature yet our lifestyle affects the nature equilibrium.
Typhoon or hurricane’s formation is caused by global warming; the formation of water vapor in the atmosphere is due to the carbon dioxide emitted by us humans. The burning of fossil fuels that emits carbon dioxide to the atmosphere is contributing the highest percentage. This carbon dioxide creates an extra thick heat layer around the Earth that results an increase of Earth’s temperature by about one degree Fahrenheit over the past century and heated up more intensely over the past two decades.
If we keep putting extra greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere we will experience unnatural warming which yields many deadly effects such as Hurricanes, rise of sea levels, diseases and the like.
Why do we need to burn fossil fuels? Well, the answer is that we need it as these fossil fuels burned by power plants are supplying power to our households, enabling cars, trucks, planes and factories to run.
Also, forests are the greatest contributors of absorbing carbon dioxide to prevent them to be emitted to the atmosphere yet we are losing 10 million acres of forests a year due to deforestation. Additionally, losing the forest causes flash floods and landslides.
These past few days, the news content were all bad nonetheless I want to bring good news to you and that is to tell you that “IT IS NOT YET LATE” to save the earth if we start today.
We can contribute to lessen the effects of global warming by means of living green and be eco-friendly.
In our offices, how many sheets of paper do you waste in a day? We should start recycling papers or re-using them. How about the air conditioners? If it’s not too warm, me might as well turned them off to save power.

How about the non biodegradable wastes? The shopping plastic bags, we have to re-use them. I am but a small voice who do not have the power to tell the big boys in the business world to be eco-friendly. Shopping malls must be banned to use plastic bags to pack the shopping items, these are really one of the major contributors of waste, if we burn these then it will be another contributor of extra gasses to the atmosphere.

How about the empty cartridges and toners in our offices? Please do not throw them, although there is no company recycling these items in Brunei but there are many e-commerce websites that buy and sell them, all we need to do is to gather them until the quantity can be shipped to the company's address. We earned something, more importantly, we were able to contribute in our own little way, in saving mother earth. how about that?..

There are so many things we can do but we need help, we need each other.
To think of the calamities the world experienced these past few days, I am guilty to be one of the contributors of global warming. We utilize power, drive our cars, litter plastics, throw papers but if we try our best to minimize them, then let’s do it together...

If we go grocery, we should bring our own bags to pack our grocery items instead of using the plastic bags from the shop. I myself would feel shy to do this... why? Because I can be a laughingstock for others as the ratio of those who are doing it, is 1 out of 1000 shoppers. If you and I will do it together then nobody will laugh at each other…NOW..WHO DO YOU THINK CAN HELP SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH?..I BELIEVE IT'S YOU...NOBODY...NOBODY, BUT Y-O-U!

Ketsana or Ondoy typhoon

Upon entering the office today I can’t deny I was smiling with a glamour face as I had a good sleep though not enough and had a very good morning with my coffee and OPM tracks while driving. While seated, I can’t wait to open my email to check the latest news from Philippines and there it goes my GRIN smile turns blue. Indeed bluer than blue.
I got terrified with the news and videos I’ve seen from my email and the Internet. Philippines is on critical condition. Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana international name) has devastated NCR, mostly Manila and some provinces like Bulacan, Pampanga, Tanay, Quezon, Angono and some other areas which leave catastrophic experience to Filipinos in affected areas. As for Sunday report from inquirer.net there are 73 who were reported dead, 23 missing, four injured and 47,261 are displaced as their houses are filled up with water until the rooftop and are now covered with mud. There are even 2 soldiers and 4 militiamen who were killed while rescuing people.
As I’ve watched the videos on you tube, it reminds of me of the Tsunami in 2004 seeing the roads turned into wild river where people get caught has to find ways to seek for refuge. They stood up on top of their cars and rooftops and some are grabbing some floating things to survive as the wild water tries to wipe them out. It is really heartbreaking. This typhoon is really worst, super storm as others would regard it. Ondoy unleash Katrina Hurricane that strikes US in 2005 dumping 200-250 mm of rain as Ondoy dumped 455mm rain in 24 hours time.

I know I can’t do anything but pray, pray for the healing of those people who lost their loved ones, pray for restoration of their homes that are vanished or covered with mud. Hopefully the government will really help those who are affected.

Now, plenty of people are blaming of what had happened, it's a pipe problem and whatever. Hello bastards if you blame today can you undone what had happened?

You better read disaster recovery management... Blaming won't help solve the problem, you better work double time, secure the place, put it back in shape.. You can start tracing the blame when everything is put back to normal. When it's clear then go trace who open the dam, or which area needs to be fixed. Help FIRST ok.. A lot of homeless out there are hungry and in pain.

Hence, we the fortunate are called to lend our helping hand.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Brunei

FOOD... VERY NICE FOOD...

Since I don't experience this, so I tried to search in google what does people do during this event and google redirect me to wikipedia and yes I agree with how Wikipedia defines Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

I've been in Brunei for 5 years and with these years I witnessed how the people prepared for this occasion and I like it. The preparation is indeed amazing. People fast for 1 month and they will celebrate the triumph after suffering with their family, relatives and friends.

As observed, many students from overseas tend to "BALIK KAMPUNG" to celebrate Hari Raya. People will go for shopping, do house cleaning, preparing food, and the likes just to be well prepared for the Day of Celebration termed as "Hari Raya" in Malay.

What I like with the occasion is that I saw a very great close family ties amongst family member and even with the distant relatives. Despite the modern society, Bruneians have maintained their family bond custom. I appreciate the gesture of "Salam" to the elders wherever they bumped with each other may it be in restaurants, banks, shopping malls, everywhere. In Philippines it is also a tradition we called "Mano Po" taking the right hand of our elders and place their hand on our forehead, though it is still practiced but it's not applicable to TAG everyone. There are still many people doing that but it's not everyone.

The people I mingled with here in Brunei are very polite especially my students considering a lot of them are older than me. What I appreciate most is that they respect me and what I believe with. When it is Christmas time, all my students will really greet me Merry Christmas and I'm so happy to hear that, and guys just to let you know I also respect your beliefs too.

I hope that this kind of respect will root deeper regardless of WHO and WHAT we are as long as we are HUMANS. I hope that this kind of relationship, a multi-culture society yet there is unity and respect will not just work in Brunei but throughout the world. If this is so, surely we all will live in a peaceful and happy world...

Soda so nice = Obesity

One of my worry is the fact that every day I woke up I see myself growing. I want to get rid the extra fats in my belly and yes of course the answer is to have a proper diet and exercise.

As I was reading articles on proper diet, I come across an article about obesity caused by soda. Are you a big fan of soda? For your information, every time we drink 12 ounce of soda or 355ml it is as good as eating 13 teaspoon of sugar which is equal to more or less 155 calories depending on your soda brand hehe. 155 calories? That’s a lot though. Last time when I’m still into thread mill, I walked 15 minutes on thread mill after office and the calorie I’ve thrown is around 100 plus plus, of course it will depend how I control the pace of the thread mill machine. So if I drink 12 ounce soda I still owe 55 calories?

I’m not really into soda but I drink soda. However this fact alarmed me much because many people can’t live without it. Some people make soda as their water after meal. In the USA, many states initiated to increase tax revenue on Soda and some states ban the sales of soda in schools. I admire this initiative, because kids awareness of health is not as much as we know and they never care. Considering they are kids, when they get addicted to soda it will be difficult for them to stop and they will start to be obese.

Soda causes obesity which is a risk factor to cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes especially when you have genetic history of diabetes.

Next sugar source and calories is the RICE… Rice oh rice… Asians are the greatest fan of rice. We love rice and we can’t deny that. A meal won’t be complete without eating rice. Nevertheless, we are fan of white rice where the actual nutrients such as protein, phosphorus and iron are almost not there anymore because these nutrients are concentrated in the outer brown layers known as husks & germs and we don’t want that isn’t it? We want the clean pseudo cosmetic polished rice where the bran and germs were removed.

For your information, a 100 g intake of rice is equivalent to 345 calories and how many times we eat rice in one day? 2 times? 3 times? Do we have all the chance to throw those calories? This is again causes obesity. I’m not saying we can’t eat rice because I don’t think I can live without it. We can do our daily activity because of rice however we should take only the right amount. women should take at least 100 calories a day for us to perform our daily tasks where men should take at least 150 calories for them to perform their daily tasks. So now my question is how many grams of rice we should take to get the 100 calories? Its math time and I’ll leave that as your assignment.

Let’s stay healthy and sexy hopefully.. I write this article to motivate myself and some other out there who were worried with their bulging tummies.

Whitney Houston is back with her I LOOK TO YOU single

When I was small, Whitney Houston's songs are the karaoke hits frequently sang by female wanna be singers in my hometown and I love the songs. I love Whitney's songs. I grew up listening with her music, she is one of the top selling U.S. female vocalists of all time hence, she's a star. As for the record there are over 170 million albums sold around the world of all her albums. Amazing right?

Yet, being a star will always have temptation into living your life into mess. She got it all, people loves her music, people adore her yet she got captivated into drugs "marijuana and cocaine" oh men.... She's just an example of those big stars who dont have happy endings in their career because of the tempations they can hardly resist.

Last tuesday when Whitney was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in her TV show, she was asked if she is already a DRUG FREE? she replied "Yes Maam". Hoepefully, she is. She's 46 and divorced and now embarking to come back to what was life offered her and good news is, for the past two weeks after the release of her new album, it topped the charts in the US and some countries. Go Whitney be a drug free and have a life.. I just love your music.

BERSUNGKAI BERSAMA DI MICRONET & TALENT NITE 2009

Micronet International College has successfully held the BERSUNGKAI BERSAMA DI MICRONET & TALENT NITE 2009 last 9 September 2009 (Wednesday) at Micronet’s Function Hall. The functional hall including the lobby is populated with over 80 students. Upon Sungkai (breaking the fast), Sheik Ahmad Naufal Sheik Adnan Bagarib recite the Doa Selamat and there it goes, everyone started to break the fast. The Talent Nite was launched by our two endearing MCs Ms. Karen (MIC Lecturer) and Abdul (IDCS Part time student). The talent show has started to be on heat as Norashyimah the first Micronet Idol in 2007 performed. The crowd went wild as she sang until all the contestants performed. There are even songs that the crowd can’t help but sing with the contestants. Indeed, it was a night to remember, many went home with glamour on their faces. Not to forget the amazing Magic tricks of one of the participants where even until the show was finish, students and even staff are still willing to see some magic tricks. The sequence of talent Nite is as follows:

After everyone has performed, Mohammad Alizul Helmi bin Nawang @ Asde performed heartwarming songs while the audience votes and the total score of the contestants is being tallied. After the few minutes wait, finally the result was out and the winner goes to Amazing Big & Zack (Contestant number 8). Big & Zack has captured the audiences’ heart who accumulated 28 votes from the audience and were the judges choice to be the champion. Thus, Big & Zack were declared the winner of Micronet’s Talent Nite 2009.

I felt relieved that one task is down hehe.. I've accomplished it successfully but it's not just ME.. It would be impossible if I didn't get support from my colleagues who did their best as well with the tasks given to them and most of all I salute students who really cooperate especially the contestants. I know some of them are not really used to perform in public although they have the talent as I saw they are nervous but I admire them for the GUTS and support they shared to make the event successful. I love you guys!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND keep on ROCKING...

NEXT TASK? WOOOOHHHH this one is bigger and grander and more blood shedding whew... The 20th Anniversary Gala Night a.k.a GALA NIGHT to be held at the most grandest 6th Star Hotel "The Empire Hotel & Country Club" Men... I hope I will loose weight with this preparation hehehe...

A DINNER TO REMEMBER

It feels good to know that someone loves your company. Yesterday, my friends and I went off for Sungkai (breaking of fast) at Royal Brunei Catering (RBC) in the Airport. Jane who invited us never thought of a surprise oh yeah of course because it is a surprise right? Hehehe…

By the way, I know you will read this jane so let me tell you the story, when Sahrirah told us that you want to invite us to have sungkai in RBC, at first we were reluctant to come because we were reticent knowing that RBC is a fine dining RESTO and you are bringing us the FOUR rascals (haha peace to the other three) however, when Sahrirah told us that Jane’s birthday is on the next day so we decided to plan for a surprise.

Yesterday at lunch break, we really fast as we didn’t eat lunch but ran into a gift shop to buy present for Jane. While choosing, we always have disagreements as one may like some item while others criticize it. It took us almost 1.5 hours to end up with unanimous decision and finally bought the gift.
In the afternoon while we are on the way to RBC, we all act like crazy cow in the car, laughing out loud. There are quiet moments though adjusting to Jane’s company hehehe. What I like about jane is that she is very reserved yet she is one of us. Every time we laugh out loud she always had her share of half laughing and half smiling but I know in that reserved gesture lays a genuine happiness.
GREAT FOOD indeed. Grilled Lamb, Beef Steak, Salads, Desserts, and prawn, prawn and prawns are my plate content oh not to forget my newly listed food wish list favorites “ambuyat” and “ROJAK”. Although I can feel the warmth of the lamb meat and cholesterol from prawn accelerating to my head I still don’t care, all I care is that I love each moment.

While having our tea, we hear a loud birthday serenade from afar with group of RBC staff bringing birthday cake with candle. Jane never thought it’s for her as she still have guts to joke “is it for me?” hahaha and we all keep quiet because we know it’s for her and when the singing voices gets louder and louder as they are approaching towards our table, I saw Jane’s blushing cheeks that reflected a mixed feeling of surprised, honoured yet torn out of wariness but has managed it…

We took lots of photos, wacky and sexy, timid look and rogue style too. Indeed it was a happy moment. It’s definitely a fine dining with right company. Even on our way back home, we still wore those genuine smiles and laughter, a good one to remember.

Lesson learned? Absolutely have. With this experience, I learned to be me no matter who I mingled with. In fact, five of us represent different personality, culture and religion but we were able to have harmony and fun. Indeed, a sweet moment worthy of reminiscing.
To Romella and Sahrirah sorry for all the bullies, well its part of the fun, just warn us if we may be stepping beyond the borderline.
To Jane, I’m amazed to hear your love story great one yeah!! I just wish you more success, good health and happiness… Thanks for being a good friend and a good student. Well, I know you are a good teacher too because you are a great student. Confused? Well, Jane is a teacher at the same time studying at MIC.

I haven’t browse around much in this particular website yet but in some pages that I checked, it has good articles and information about the bible and all.
I wanted to share this coincident happened to me while I was typing my blog link www.llerox.blogspot.com in facebook status, I made a clerical error and typed www.llerox.blogpsot.com instead and when I saw the website I saw lots of eye opener articles. What a coincidence yeah?

Leaders not Evils

Inquirer.net is like my morning sandwiches with a cup of coffee in the office. While sipping my coffee with my left hand, my right hand is clicking on the headlines from the inquirer.net email alert.
For these past few weeks, Politics is always the main dish; a billion peso budget for election automation and the Presidential post issues.
There is this headline about the heroic decision of Mar Roxas who is suppose to be the standard Presidential candidate for the Liberal Party but gives way to Noynoy Aquino for the presidential post despite the fact that he had spent plenty of penny of the earlier campaigns made.
In the press conference, Mar Roxas said that as president of Liberal Party, “It is within my power to preside over a divisive process or to make the party a bridge for the forces of change.”
“I choose to lead unity, not divisive”. If his intention is really true then I salute him. He gave up his dream to be a President of the Philippines following the footstep of his father Manuel Roxas just to avoid division because he wants unity. He wants to support Noynoy to be put into place as the next Philippine President.
Commendable isn’t it? However, sometimes I feel faked with all the sweet talks of these political icons. Should they serve our country? Or write poetry? What do you think? Hehehe I’m not against Mar Roxas because he’s my uncle “bwahahaha” joke.
Generally, most of them should have written poems rather than sweet talking us and ironically killing us softly.
You might be smiling while reading, asking yourself is it really me writing? Since when, I got a political inclination? Well, I attended a seminar in Davao with an activist movement against the government. The speakers are really persuasive so I thought of being activist but eventually, I found out that they are not just activists but rebels in Mindanao hahaha… of course I don’t want to be a rebel though…
As for political icons, I only have one idol and that is Ramon Magsaysay. I didn’t know him. I just hear stories from my Grandmother (lola) and from my investigation out of curiosity why my lola acclaimed him as the best President in the world. Ramos, Erap and GMA are the players of my time and all of them broke my heart.
These three monsters had their shares of corruption scandals whereas Ramon Magsaysay even sold his own house so his wife could get medical treatment and when he died in the Plane Crash, his wife ended up homeless.
Philippines is rich with natural resources and talented workforce, nevertheless, our country’s progress is as lame as a tortoise. We have the resources, we have the talents but we scarce with good leaders.
I wrote this to express my disappointments as well as to tell the Filipinos to pray for our nation. Many of us don’t want to settle down in our own land as we don’t see beauty and life in there. We feel so hopeless and helpless but if we have chance to fight for our right then we should. We ourselves are the best armor to take back what is supposed to be ours. Therefore, we should utilize our power to seek for peace and progress.
In the 2010 election, let’s take part and be vigilant. Let’s seek God’s providence in choosing the right leaders to lead us to live a life we deserve.

I Chose to be Productive

I never had interest in Facebook the moment I open an account, there was just a need to utilize the media in order for me to have bonding time with the students as well as to utilize it for academic advertisement for students.
In fact, every time I advertise an announcement or perhaps a reminder in FB (Facebook), and at the same time in Micronet info website which I am authoring as well, constantly, FB audience is more that what I get compared to the actual website with domain solely created for student communication purposes. Can you see the difference now? FB or other social networking media such as Friendster, YouTube, Multiply are more powerful. Indeed, many businesses are utilizing these networks for marketing purposes and it is proven efficient and cheap.

My company is paying a domain to reach out students online yet students can be reached thru FB for free.
What makes this tool so powerful that users won’t be having a complete day without logging in a day? Well, I can answer it myself. First your friends are there, you can busy body the whereabouts of other people and their lives. Humans were born to be social hence I don’t need to question that.

In FB, I can see introverts’ self revelation; they tell u what’s on their mind, or what they currently feel thru their “STATUS”. Introverts may have limitations with their self revelation while extroverts are at FULL BLAST some are swearing, cursing, smiling (happy), crying (sad), gesture of loneliness, broken hearted and so on.
Second, are you bored? Well, hundreds of applications are available in FB, they have games, lifestyle, sports and so on trying to capture which area you might fall on and I got captivated on gaming hehehe. I get addicted, hypnotized and all. The Famous Mafia War, Farm Town, Poker, Pet Society, Restaurant City and the likes.
I started playing these APPS early this year (2009) and now its September a quarter to go to the year end and if I’m going to assess myself, I am really less productive this year.
I’m less productive with so many aspects. First, with my Job, I used to be commended always for my dedication “I LOVE MY JOB”. However this is not an issue of being appreciated but the quality of my work output. I am really worst this time, I fail to motivate my students, I fail to support them, I fail to let them know that I’m just here willing to offer a helping hand.
Second is myself development, I could have learn many things, read more books, write more articles and spend more time with my family.
Lastly, I fail God; I spend few hours playing, few hours working at night where my sleeping duration will only be 4 to 5 hours. The next day, then I’ll have back pain, headache, stress, and hypertensive. When is my prayer time? Every Saturday night, I always find myself closing my eyes to sleep at times where others are opening theirs to prepare for Sunday Church services. When it’s my moment to meet my GOD I am not with myself. Oftentimes I am sleepy and tired.
Of course I don’t blame FB for this, sometimes playing can help us to release stress and forget our problems but addiction is a different story.
According to Bill Gates “ALL THESE TOOLS OF TECH WASTE OUR TIME IF WE’RE NOT CAREFUL” that’s why he dumped FB. Well, I am not Bill Gates and neither a fan though, hence I won’t dump FB but I will dump all APSS I’m using as I chose to be productive.
For those who are using Pet Society, Poker, Restaurant City, Farm Town just IM me guys and I will donate all my properties before closing them hehehe…
This blog entry is not to tell you to have a SUDDEN BRAKE, rather to remind you to slow down and turn your gear low perhaps 1st gear? Or 2nd Gear? Allow yourself to drive FB moderately rather than FB drives you crazily.
In fact, FB is a powerful tool to touch people’s life, to reach out and embrace the lonely. Just drive moderately.

gala dinner 2008

After the long preparation at last it is over... and there I go again sorry for being dead in a while and I'll be dead soon again coz i'll be having my Christmas vacation in the phils..

Well, this post will feature our Gala Dinner 2008. This is indeed a stressful one coz I am the incharge for the dances entertainment part. My students had exerted much effort just to make their performances best and thank God the feedback was good that their performances is better than last year and I'm so proud for that because I am the coreographer hahaha... I received a text message from my sis in law today saying that they are currently attending the the judging of an awarding of retired Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) to be awarded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Few months ago, my parents were given an award from OWWA as a successful OFW worker from the entire Samal Island and today I'm so happy knowing that my parents were chosen again as the most successful OFW for the entire Mindanao region and they will be the entry from Mindanao for the National awarding. Of course I wish them to be the the winner but if they will not win, for me they are already my champion. I am not what I am now if they didn't sacrifice.

I am also glad that the letter I sent to OWWA were given a chance to be read in the public that caused my mama to shed tears. I know its tears of joy and I'm glad that she's happy knowing that we appreciate them and salute them as our parents. Stated below is the letter for my papa and mama.

Dear Papa and Mama,

Thank you for the sacrifices you have endured in order to race us and provide for us. I never understand the sacrifices you have bartered of working overseas from being there for us during the time we are growing until I experienced it myself.

I thought life here in abroad was easy, that you are having good times while we are growing up without parents. However, from the time I started to work here, I have proven myself wrong and was able to contemplate that I am the one indeed having good times enjoying the benefits of your hard works just to give us brighter future. I started to work here in Brunei and I saw it myself how my Papa endure his job for 18 years. He woke up everyday @ 4:00 am to drive and he is driving until evening. Every time he fetched me from my work place, I can smell his sweat and it crumpled my heart thinking that all these hardships he endured for 18 years because he have dreams for us. I may not witnessed how my Mama endured her job for 18 yrs or so but I knew how difficult life was because working on a foreign land is indeed difficult. Different race, different culture, different language a lot of differences yet they survive and I sure will survive.

To Mama and Papa, I am very proud to have you as my parents! I owe every inch of success I have today because you dreamed for me and for my siblings. I'm proud to say that you fulfilled your dreams because we are not a failure. If you did not sacrifice I will be nobody.

PROS AND CONS OF A QUARREL

When you argue with someone else you will never cease until you prove yourself right. Why do we quarrel? Indeed we quarrel because we wanted to pursue our conviction that the other person is wrong because we are right. However, the person you are quarreling with is as well thinking the same way as you do. Thus, nobody shall give up and it will never cease nor shall end with good conclusion.

One drawback of a quarrel is that the more you say for reasons of expressing what you feel even if it’s not right but you believe it is right would probably hurt the other party and because the other party was upset and got hurt then he/she would probably hurt you back.

When I taught English for business communication subject, it says that one major disadvantage of oral communication is that it is by far likely produces more mistakes since it is spontaneous. Once you've said it, you can’t take it back. That’s why when you hurt someone verbally, no matter how sorry you are the damage has been done.

But one good benefit of a quarrel is the realization of who really is right. Is it you or the other party? When you are over the anger or have composed yourself back, it’s good to review what have been said by you and the person you are quarreling with. Then, you will find out who is right. Acceptance of your fault and probably the other party’s fault is necessary otherwise, it will take you a lifetime to resolve such issue or you’ll get tired of arguing over and over the same old story.

BUT, acceptance is not easy, as I have mentioned in my past post humans are built up with PRIDE and it’s very difficult to combat with PRIDE because it’s an evil creation.

love versus courage

Windows Vista criticism

It is one of the topic of my student's assignment to review and research what are the major criticism of Windows Vista received after its shipment on 30 January 2007 and during the beta releases earlier. I just want to share the insights and findings I have gathered as stated below:

Windows Vista is often referred to as longhorn because of the fact that the development has taken longer time than expected. The development has indeed taken 5 years and that is why many had hoped for the best.

Hardware Requirement is very high

It is quiet daunting to note that Windows Vista’s minimum hardware requirement is very high that older PC bought before 2005 needs to have an upgrade. According to Paul Thurrott, the minimum hardware requirements that can run on Vista OS are as follows”

“- A "modern" Intel, AMD, or VIA Technologies CPU

- 512MB of RAM or more

- A DirectX 9-class 3D graphics card

Such a system will provide what Microsoft calls a "good" experience with Vista, though it might not provide you with the high-end Aero Glass UI. For a better experience, the company recommends a graphics processor that supports the new Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) technology. Such systems will enjoy "enhanced graphics stability, multi-application performance, and monitor hot-plugging" when compared to Windows XP, Microsoft says. For the best experience, Microsoft recommends DirectX 9-class graphics hardware that supports WDDM and Pixel Shader 2.0 technologies, and 64-256MB of dedicated video RAM, depending on screen resolution.”

Windows Vista is Expensive

For Windows XP user upgrade option, Microsoft offers a discount where you just need to pay $99 but for a stand-alone Vista version, user has to fully pay the selling price. The Home, Premium cost is $299 and Windows Vista Ultimate cost is $399 where the Aero UI and Media Center capabilities are included. These features allows user to experience a good multimedia computing but these feature is not available in Home Basic version. Additionally, if you have Xbox gadget, Home Basic can’t connect the peripheral.

Microsoft offers three versions of Vista to home users in the U.S. -- Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate. You can buy any of these in the upgrade version with a discount, or the stand-alone version without the discount.

The cheapest way for current Windows XP users to get a legal copy of Vista is to buy the upgrade version of Home Basic, which is $99. But you don't want the cheapest version.

First, the upgrade version will require you to keep your Windows XP CD for years. You do have a Windows XP CD handy, don't you? Second, Home Basic just won't cut it for most people. It lacks the Aero UI and Media Center capabilities. Plus, you can't connect Xbox peripherals to Home Basic. For many, including yours truly, those are the three best reasons to upgrade to Vista in the first place.

A big discount only can be gained if the buyer will get a new PC because the computer reseller’s acquired huge discounts and it will indeed cost too much to purchase new set of PC especially in business used.

Vista is time-consuming

“Installing any new operating system is time-consuming. You have to configure everything, load your data, install your applications and get your peripherals working. Then, in the case of Vista, you have to figure out where Microsoft buried all the options, menus and features and get used to the ubiquitous Search boxes. Anytime you want to do anything in Vista, it seems, the software asks, "Are you sure?" You'll want to figure out how to turn that off and customize Vista to get rid of all its annoying "user-friendly" hand-holding "features."

Windows Easy Transfer where you can easily transfer all installed application from Windows XP to vista is one of the feature of Vista. However, it only works when the user has re-installed all applications because it does not really move the installed applications but merely setup data.

Thus, Windows XP to Vista upgrade is just a big hassle using your old PC and that is why it is not recommended to install Vista on an older PC.

XP SP 3 is proven to be faster than Windows Vista

“New tests have revealed that Windows XP with the beta Service Pack 3 has twice the performance of Vista, even with its long-awaited Service Pack 1.” (Suzanne Tindal. 2007)

Researchers from Florida based Software Company Devil Mountain Software proves than the Windows Vista performance was not overwhelming which proves that the Windows XP SP3 predecessor outshines Vista in terms of speed.

“Vista, both with and without SP1, performed notably slower than XP with SP3 in the test, taking over 80 seconds to complete the test, compared to the beta SP3-enhanced XP's 35 seconds.” (Suzanne Tindal. 2007)

The test was tested using a Dell XPS M1710 with a 2GHz Core 2 Dou CPU and 1GB RAM where Microsoft Office 2007 software was used using a simultaneous productivity task that include a compound document and supporting workbooks and presentation materials. The test has resulted with Vista performance increased less than 2% and the XP SP3 performance increased of 10%.

User Account Control frustration

Reports shows that the UAC or User Account Control feature of Windows Vista gives so much frustration to its users as it always prompts user for every application or hardware driver to be installed if the user is not the administrator. This frustrates users because most of the PC users are the administrators itself yet it still prompts for some administrative permission.

Revealing Personal Secrets.. (pros and cons)

Have you ever revealed a personal secret to your friend? I believe all of us have secrets... Some of them maybe dark secrets? hehe...
Example secrets taken from click a confession website
1) I am Armandy i am a guy and i like to wear womens panties. (bwahahaha iwwww)
2) I can not help myself. I'm constantly wanting to have sex. I masturbate all the time. What can a girl do? ( oh no....)

Well, back to the topic... there are pros and cons when your secret will be revealed either accidentally or intentionally. First is the effect to the person who knew the secret. You may look bad especially when the secret is unexpected. Nonacceptance will follow somehow depends on the person's mind either they have broad minds or shallow. Friendship may build gaps and that you may need to extend effort to bridge that gap and allow him/her to accept you again.

Nonetheless, there are many benefits in revealing a secret to a person you can call "confidant". People reveal secrets because they want to feel better and wish to gain new insights from the person they have revealed their secrets... There are just important things to remember before the revelation: choose a confidant that can keep a secret, nonjudgmental people is necessary as to avoid you to be jeopardized, discreet and who were able to offer advices for your self betterment.

BE CAREFUL... AND DO NOT TELL ME YOUR SECRET AS I AM NOT DISCREET HEHEHE...

I didn't expect that few of my students will surprise me today 23 September 2008 (late blog entry). From the time I open my eyes, out of my awareness, Brunei is commemorating "Selamat Hari Guru" in English "Teacher's Day".

Routine tasking was on my mind's thought the moment I sat on my office chair... I was checking my post-it note on task to do... yet out of my expectations: two students brought a bouquet of roses approaching me and Rocel (my co-teacher) and they hand us those beautiful flowers and greeted us "Happy Teachers Day!!!" I was indeed overwhelmed... It's a good feeling knowing that the people whom you render your service do appreciate your efforts. Although I am paid for that but the thought of knowing you are valued really matters. People say, if you work or do something, you should not expect anything in return, yet a simple gesture of thank you and I appreciate your work or a job well done really matters.

Moral of the story? hehe.. well, we should not weigh the magnitude of what other people have done for us. Either it's petty or big favor it would be best if we can return the favor with a simple appreciation. Saying thank you satisfy a helping hand... saying I appreciate your effort, lighten an exhausted soul from the efforts poured out while helping you. It's good to feel you not are worthless..

8 random things you may or may not know about me . Thank you so much Molit (FC) and Amor for this Tag. So common try to know me better from these 8 facts extracted from my life's fact sheets.

1. When I was 1st yr hi-skul, a crowd saw my ass (pwet) hehe. Why? because there was a Student Body election and my friends were very keen to know the result so we waited until the counting was over yet I have this nature call and I can't stop it already but then the toilet was so dirty so I ran onto a big TREE sat down there and put down my panty and whew I pee. When I was having a pee, I heard a crowd yelling and whistling and when I step out from hiding the big TREE everyone in the campus were looking at me huhuhu... My world stop, I thought that the big TREE covered my ASS yet people saw me and my bum bum huhuhu I am so embarassed and a senior approach me and tell me that everybody saw my ass when I pee behind that asshole tree... What can I do? I have exposed my ass already so I just walk out and wave to them KAYA NYO YON? (can you do that?) hehe...

2. I pretend to be "dalaga" or had my first period when I was grade six hehe.. coz most of my friends were dalaga already and I'm a late bloomer so I pretended. I show them my panty with a blood but I actually dip it in a water mixed with "red jubos" a coloring powder. So liar huh? The reason why I did that because they always teases me that I don't have the right to have a bf or even a crush either yet since I haven't had my first period huhuhu... Honestly I got my first period when I was second year high school 2 yrs after my pretension hehehe shhhh its our secret k.

3. I talk when I sleep and sometimes I even sing. My kuya's friend who slept over at my place next to my room overheared me singing but he doesn't know that its me, so he awakened my kuya with a frightened face and ask "Paul, may multo na kumakanta" hahaha (there's a ghost singing)... he thought I was a ghost but my kuya didn't tell him that it's me even though kuya knows it's me. Until the next morning, he ask around if they heard a girl singing the previous night and everyone laugh at him bwahahaha...

4. I love to sleep with a soft music playing on a radio or playing on my ears. over mp3 pla MP3's (oldies songs preferably)

5. I sleep while riding jeepney or BUS. I always missed to say "Para" in english Stop to the driver at my destination point because I fall asleep.

6. I have a number of failure lovelife... not once, not twice but many... huhuhu... but I'm stronger now because of those failures... I've been a lot too not to mention them... but it's a lot...

7. I put my family first before me... When I was studying I said to myself. I should be able to graduate and land with a good job so that I can help my family and let them experience a comfort living... poor lang po kami hehe. (we're just poor).. although I fail to give them a very comfortable living as I have dreamed before but I'm happy because a little fraction of that dream was realized.

8. I am a hopeless romantic dreamer... I have so many dreams and imaginations. I even want to write those dreams and published it as a novel hehe but I am also a frustrated writer... you want a piece of it ok short lng to just a synopsis...

I day dream this when I was hand washing my brothers dirty clothes and school uniforms after I came home from school that was high school.

" I was dreaming living in a kubo (small house) and that kubo is near in a cold spring where I always do the laundry, the place is like paradise... there are fruit trees around birds are singing with me until a handsome lost traveler saw me and seek help yet I can't help him as my world revolves to my kubo and my spring until he decided to stay with me forever..." it's a long story i just make it short kc mapapagod kyo eh hehe... Thus, I am a certified hopeless romantic but it's fiction, a fantasy but I am not living in that fantasy because I know that reality is more chaotic, painful, challenging but happier than fantasy... there are more to reality of life than fantasy yeah?

The effect of betrayal: How to trust again?

Somewhere along a couple's journey, betrayal may arise. There are a lot of possible reasons why this shit happens. It could be communication breakdown, one night stand, failure of fulfilling each others needs, frequent fights, insensitivity, selfishness and etc...

Now let me ask you, if it happens to you, I mean you've been betrayed what should you do? Will you quit breathing? or keep bleeding? hehe... well, they said that when you love you have to love everything and that includes the "dark side of the person". Nobody's perfect yeah? If you've been betrayed, never make decision because you are in pain, getting over grief is a process so keep on grieving until the pain subside and what's next to that?

Moving on...

Moving on does not necessarily means goodbye or otherwise it can be goodbye. Decision is for you to take but be careful of the consequences of whatever decision you may take.
