Top 10 Irrational Fears.

Some of these are not irrational at all.

Random brain puke.

10. Going home late and riding a cab with a sleepy driver. Once, I called on a driver for closing his eyes while driving (2am). Turns out, he just had chinky eyes. To add, I fear crashing to that road island in the middle of EDSA by the bridge in Guadalupe. I always worry that the driver will drive right into it, so I always check if he is awake by talking about the weirdest things.

9. Not bringing my laptop when on vacation. I always worry that people will need something from me at work while I’m away. I will need to learn to let go. I’ve done it thrice this year on my trip to Boracay, Tacloban and Cebu.

8. Rats eating me while asleep. In my old apartment, we had these huge rats. One in particular, we called Master Splinter (from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), because he was soooo big! Like a cat! He ate my waveboards (which were hard as eff).

7. Pissing my bed. I always panic when I’m dreaming about urinating. I feel like I have to slap my face into opening my eyes just to make sure I didn’t wet my sheets. Imagine my worry when sleeping in other people’s houses.

6. Phone calls from home. I got used to receiving just bad news when someone from the family calls. I get irritated when I miss the call and no one answers my SMS or calls, when I call back. Once my mom did this and I totally freaked out when I found out that she was just calling to let me know they were eating Sinigang (my favorite). I was so upset, I think I cried.

5. Crocodiles. Always been my special guests in my nightmares (Thanks to the movie, Lake Placid). I’ve held a baby gator in Palawan though. It didn't eat me.

4. Locked jaw. Instant fear when that happens.

3. Throwback Thursdays. I hate that hashtag. Mini heart attack everytime someone would tag me in an old photo. I just wanna block those people! And hulk smash them.

2. Flying cockroaches. No city insect can scare me more. Esp when I imagine it flying to my mouth while I’m screaming in fear. Recently, I just saw the most horrifying cockroach video I’ve seen. Vomit inducing, really. It’s HERE if you think you can stomach it.

1. Farting in my Yoga class. While my butt is in some person’s face. While a celebrity is in the class.

Back in Tacloban! (March 2013)

So in 2010, I went to Tacloban with Charm. We had an awesome time food tripping! I never really finished blogging about that trip though. Blame it on my turtle slow internet connection.

This year, I decided to take Ethel. She was so jealous of all the resto hopping that Charm and I did, so we did just that, when we went there. Originally the plan was, to go to Biri in Samar to see those magnificent rock formations. This is part of the reason why the trip was 4 days. Upon preparing the itinerary though, I found out that from Tacloban, Biri is an 8 hour trip with at least 3-4 stops. I imagined totally freaking out from stress of hopping from van to boat to a habal habal motorbike (that I totally do not ever want to do again after my Davao trip a couple of years ago). Not to mention that the place had no electricity from 6pm to 6am. Ethel would totally die. Haha! I might as well kill her.

So to avoid the unnecessary stress, we decided to just stay in Tacloban and just go around the city.

I'll be chopping the blogging of this Tacloban trip per restaurant and activity. This one is just the airport part, I just really wanted to post the photos 'coz I was trying out the 50mm lens that my beautiful cousin Belle gave me, a week before this trip, just before she left for Vegas. I already love it!

I totally need a pedicure. The last one I got from Rob, almost broke my nails. They gave me cheap nailpolish! grrr.

We always try to hand carry all our stuff to avoid paying the check in fee. Need to save for the numerous trips this year.

This is Ethel worrying about work. Me, I left my laptop at work. Hihi. That felt sooo good!

Cebu Pacific is love! Except for the usually delayed flights, I love Cebu Pacific because they have taken me to so many places. So thank you! I hope they would improve though. Time is very important especially to those on business trips.

We were totally bored on the flight to Tacloban so we took a lot of photos.

I love seating by the window. When I'm not freaking out from the turbulence, I love looking outside the window and just thanking God for creating such a beautiful world.

This bed of clouds is just so incredible. Sunsets are the best time to fly. The colors you see up there are so surreal.

Don't you just love sunsets? I will always love sunsets.

Just before dark, we landed in Tacloban without a hotel reservation. I called at least 5 hotels before we left Manila and all were fully booked. I wasn't worried though, we went there to relax and eat for four days. We can sleep in a cafe' for all I care.

My 2 Year Old Snapshot is Calendar Worthy! (March 2013)

So I got a nice surprise yesterday when a colleague called me and asked me about which photo I took for our company calendar. I totally had no idea the first few seconds, what she was talking about, but then I remembered I joined a photo contest last October 2012. Winners will get a chance to get a GE camera and their photos published in the company calendar. It was so long ago, I thought, maybe I just didn't make the cut. Turns out, I made it. Yey! I got the October page of the company's ASEAN 2013 calendar. Photo entries came from all over ASEAN and I got lucky enough to be chosen. I'm just not sure if everyone chosen will be getting the free camera.

They wanted a photo telling a story of why I love working for GE. I submitted 3-4 photos and I guess they liked the photo of the street children above. Here's what I wrote about the photo, it wasn't shared in the calendar :

"I work in Finance and sometimes I don’t feel how exactly I’m helping the world by working for GE. I just know that somehow, I’m making a difference by doing my job to the best of my abilities. So when we have GEV activities, my heart swells with pride when I see immediate effects on the people we are helping. Take for example these kids, they were so happy to see us because they know that for that one day during that week, they will have a free meal and time to play with some adults (some of them do not have parents and most are abused). For a day, they will feel safe and loved. These GEV activities make me appreciate what I have and realize that I have more to give."

That photo is over 2 years old. I took it during an outreach activity in Pasig last October 2010. I wonder how the kids are doing. They don't even know their faces got published in our calendar. Hope they are doing better these days.

Midnight Bingeing at Banchetto Pioneer! (Boni, Mandaluyong. January 2013)

BINGE : a period or bout, usually brief, of excessive indulgence, as in eating, drinking alcoholic beverages, etc.; spree.

The atmosphere at work was very toxic thick that you could almost raise your finger in the air and write, KILL ME! Haha. So we decided to binge and go to Banchetto at 2am after we logged off from work. Of course we ate a cow and stuffed ourselves until we were happy from all the cholesterol rush!

I used to go to Banchetto Ortigas but when I saw that there’s a nearer venue in Pioneer Boni, I chose to patronize the nearer location (from Fort).

Here are some of the food available in Banchetto Pioneer.

2am and everybody is awake!

Good thing I'm allergic to seafood (not all), or I would have devoured these squids!

When I see shawarma like this, it sort of grosses me out.

I had to have some of my favorite Ilocos Empanada! (60 Php for the special kind, with egg and longganisa).

I love the Chicken Zilla! It’s flavourful and the owner/manager was very polite and welcoming. My favorite flavor is plum.

Free Rudy Project Suitcase and Mango Tree at the Fort! (Taguig. 08 2012)

Had lunch in Mango Tree (Fort Branch) after we claimed my free Rudy Project suitcase courtesy of my Citibank Cebu Pacific VISA Platinum Card.

This Mango Tree Branch is way bigger than their Greenbelt 5 branch. The interior looks more extravagant too. It was quite cozy. I loved the uniformed waters too, they looked like hotel staff.

Plates were huge, you'd think your serving wasn't much, until you realize how full you are.

Milk Tea was tasty! I hear the milk tea, coffee flavor is really good too.

I love Mango Tree's Pad Thai! It was sumptous and flavorful. I would have it everyday if I could!

Sticky rice!

According to Fons, this dessert was delicious!

I love the suitcase! We've been using it ever since. It's light and strong and four wheel flexible. Although the code lock sometimes changes codes on its own. The four times it happened, we guessed the combination within 30 minutes of panicking. Imagine arriving in Siem Reap on your first day of travel and realizing you cannot open your luggage! I almost had a stroke just thinking that I would be wearing the same clothes on our sunrise in Angkor Wat. Pure heart attack! Rudy Project should check that.

Other than that, I love it!

They say 3 cups of red rice = 1 cup of white rice. Is that true?

I'm starting to eat rice again after 2 years of avoiding it. I promised my baby sister that I'm going to start eating rice again on her birthday (that was last week), so I did.

Been having stomach anxieties every time I eat rice though. And I don't like eating it anymore (YEY!).

This was my lunch yesterday, siomai and ampalaya.

I wish I could survive being a vegan. I have yet to try it, I'm too weak.

GE is big on health. This first day of the month, we were asked to wear red to remind everyone to take care of our hearts.

This is one of the reasons why I consider myself lucky to be working for GE. I just wish I would take their advise though, and work out more! I really need it.

Coffee and Ma Maison (Greenbelt 2, Makati. May 2012)

We got these tiny free chocolatey coffee from Starbucks in Glorietta 4. I love freebies! We had coffee at Starbucks to keep us awake all night because we had to work.

Food hopping buddy, Ethel, treated me for dinner. It was my first time in Ma Maison in Greenbelt 2, Makati.

I liked the ambiance, all the dark wood and printed couches made me feel like I was in some GodFather movie. Too dark for me though. These days, I like bright and light interiors better, like Moonleaf's for example.

Service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive and periodically asked us how we were doing, or if we needed anything. I think their Manager also asked us if everything was okay.

The chicken wasn’t so great though, this was one of the free dishes they gave as an opening promotion. They said it was one of their best sellers. I felt like the chicken was a bit raw. Maybe I’m just not an expert on dishes like this, but I was never dissatisfied with a chicken dish, unless it tasted raw. I hope it was just the flavour they were going for. It was okay, but I was expecting more.

I wasn’t a fan of the beef either, maybe because I really don’t like beef. The omelette I liked, but who could go wrong with an omelette, right? Maybe I'm just not into Ma Maison's cuisine.

They’re a bit expensive for the taste and size of the servings, as with all Bistro restaurants. I should go back to change my impression, but because Italianni’s is just a few steps from their location, I feel like I’d rather spend my hard earned money on a sure win like Italianni’s.

There is WIFI, and the password is the same for all Bistro restaurants. I even had a skype call with my Mom that dinner time, it was Mother’s day. I sent her a photo of her gift and the link to a mother’s day blogpost, but she preferred that I called. So I called at past 11 pm, just a few minutes before Mother’s day ended.

I just came back from a backpack-suitcase 4 day trip from Vietnam and Cambodia. Tired but HAPPY! I was with two other girlfriends and was honestly quite worried that we were going to these countries, just us girls. I had reason to worry but we survived it!

Armed with an itinerary and a vague ballpark estimate of how much the trip is going to cost, we rushed all work requirements to compensate for the 2 day leave and off to the airport we went, super excited for the adventure ahead!

I am so blessed to have travelled to these countries on my own cost and courage. I love being soaked in new culture and different environments. It’s scary but I thrive in it. Anything weird I see or different from what I usually know, amazes me. It makes all my current problems and worries shrink when I feel my world get bigger and bigger as I brave new places and talk to strangers from different countries and beliefs. I wish I could do it more often, and I will! I just have to figure out how I can finance these vivid travel dreams that keep my heart skip a beat every time I picture myself, swimming in the endless possibilities of photo opportunities.

Sharing a few photos of our temple run in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. I wish to blog in detail about this trip, I really do! I know I’ve said that before but I will really try my hardest to do it this time. I want to remember everything!

I miss Sandwich Guy! They used to have a branch in Fort but I think it closed. I don't like bread, but Sandwich Guy makes me want to eat them, that's how good they make it.

We were furniture shopping for my cousins and suddenly got hungry. Sandwich Guy was a quick fix. Ordered my favorite HBLT (Ham, Bacon, Lettuce and T. I don't know what T is. Haha!) Delicious!

Found a new pad thai sauce during a Thailand Festival in Glorietta last month. It wasn't bad, but I liked the old sauce better. This sauce was not so saucy.
