What do you with expired cream make up remover?

I hardly make up, hence my make up remover usually has leftover when expiry date arrives. Instead of throwing it away, I conducted an experiment with my expired make up remover on my dirty ventilating fan.

My ventilating fan is very oily as it is used when I am cooking. I always have hard time in removing the dirt. Until... I try to clean it with make up remover!!!

What I did was applying the cream on the fan surface, let it sat for a while before wiping with a face cotton. And the dirt came out! Wow...

To prevent the fan from being stained, I came up with an idea of wrapping the fan with cling wrap! Haha... So I do not need to clean the fan so hard, just replace the cling wrap the next time I wanna clean the fan. This is way more easy!

I guess, I shall think of what else to do with my expired products in the future! Do share with me on what you will do with your expired products! =) Throw it away or use it somewhere else?

Hello ladies!

I have a good news for those who stay near to Penang. Inglot is coming to Queensbay Penang! It will be at Ground floor, next to L'occitane and very near to main entrance.

I have been reading about Inglot and how bloggers love about it but it was too far for me to get it! I am so happy to see the renovation going on in Queensbay. That means I can try the Inglot products much easier! Hooray~

The question now is when will it open? I guess we'll have to wait for the updates from their fan page.

For now if you are interested to know more about Inglot, here is a very good blog by ParisB - My Women Stuff. Ohh, it is my favourite blog!

How often do you apply mask?

Hello Ladies,

I have a question in mind today - how often do you apply mask? =)

For me, I usually apply exfoliating mask weekly and hydrating mask more often. But sometimes, when I got lazy y'know, I will skip all these... Ahha..

I find that by exfoliating regularly would help my skin to absorb skin care better. However, if I exfoliate too much my skin will be dry. =( As for hydrating mask, I tend to apply like once in every 3 days. I helps to minimize my pores! When my face is dehydrated I will then apply it daily!

So, tell me, how often do you apply mask and what type of mask you love the most??? =)

How Do You Use Lemon???

Hello everyone!

I guess we all know that lemon is a good fruit with high anti-oxidant. So, do you take lemon???

My dad always asked me to drink fresh lemon everyday. FRESH with no sugar added. I bet you know how sour it is! Well, now I'm used to it and I actually like it quite well! I would squeeze a lemon into a mug, add some water and throw in few ice cubes - that's it! What a healthy good lemon juice. *I'm acting proud right now*

What do I do next? The lemon that has been squeezed does not look pretty now, but don't throw it away! You can still use it! Sometimes I will leave it in my refrigerator to freshen up my fridge or put in my bedroom - especially when the air-con is ON. Ohh, my room smells so fresh making me wanna fall asleep straight! To me it is kinda 'natural aromatherapy'

That is how I use lemons. So, my question for you is: How would you use a lemon/lemons? Can't wait to hear all of your stories! Hope that you would share with me!

Palmer's Organic Therapy Heals My Waxing Bumps

I love leg waxing as the hair takes time to grow again. However, I would think twice when comes to it. The reason is simple, I will have waxing bumps on my legs after waxing just like a razor burn. Too bad huh? People say lotion helps to sooth the skin and I have tried various brands of lotion but to no avail.

What Have Saved My Dry Flaky Skin!

One week ago my face became very dry and flaky after exposing myself too much under the sun. I did not apply any sunblock (I do not have the habit), so I think that has caused my skin to be in a bad condition too.

You know, when the skin is too dry, it will become very flaky and rough. It is painful too especially when I try to apply moisturizer. Learnt that sufficient hydration would heal the skin, I added some hydrating steps into my skin care routine. And of course, I consumed more water than normal, hoping that it will hydrate 'me' from inside out.

Hydrating Mask

Normally, we are advised to apply hydrating mask once a week. However, I apply it on my face EVERYDAY when my face is dry and flaky. It really helps! I used My Beauty Diaries sheet mask as my Cellnique Soothing and Hydrating Masque has ran out. Before using the sheet mask, I put it into refrigerator until the sheet mask is cold. You could imagine how comfortable it is to have a cold sheet mask on your face.

Hydrating Serum

I used Clinelle hydrating serum - Moisture Booster to boost my skin moisture level. It really helps to hydrate my skin. My skin gets better each day after using this serum! However, my skin gets sensitive when I apply this serum directly onto my skin. My cheeks got red in colour and there were red bumps on them. So, I pumped the serum on my fingers and rubbed before patting them onto my face. With this method, my cheek does not develop any sensitive spots and I am happy with it.

Hydrating Moisturizer

My Kiehl's moisturizer was not sufficient enough to hydrate my dry skin. It is a nice moisturizer when your skin is normal but not when your skin is dry. So I switched back to my Cellnique Moisturizer - Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel. I apply a thick layer on my face in the morning and evening. It got slightly sticky ( due to the thick layer ) but it was not oily at all!

The Result

Believe it or not, my face is back to normal - no more dry flaky skin, after just 4 days! I was so happy and now here you are, the products that have saved my skin! Buh-bye to DRY skin!

Extra Tips

When you are experiencing dry skin, try to avoid outdoor activities - especially if you are staying in a hot country like me. And always remember to apply sunblock! With this lesson, I always remind myself to apply sunblock before going out. Well, also remember to drink more plain water!

Since food post attracts better response from the reader, I will talk about food from time to time if I find the place/food interesting. :) Of course, I will still continue with my products sharing/review.

My birthday was on last week and my bf brought me to an Italian restaurant. He knows that I am a spaghetti lover. =D> The place is called Bella Italia Pizzeria at Pulau Tikus, the map is here. We ordered mushroom soup, mushroom rice and spaghetti. I didn't plan to blog about this, so I do not have the pictures of the main dishes. (I will do better next time ;) )

I did not like the rice because it was too plain. :p And for my spaghetti, it was okay, not too bad. I still prefer the spaghetti from DOME or QE2. But the environment is nice. :)) Romantic and relaxing.

Once we finished the main dish, we ordered a Tiramisu. I love it so much! It was soft and fulled of coffee powder! We had to quickly finish it as it melted fast~

I think the place is nice. :)) Good for a date or special celebrations. I can't recall for the price but it is around RM25++ for the main dish and RM13++ for the Tiramisu. Have you been here before? I'm sure many do. Do let me know what I have missed out from this place! ;)

Review: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream

After reading about Kielh's Oil-Free range from mywomenstuff, I went to Kiehl's store with a friend to pick up the Oil-free Gel Cream moisturizer. I always love gel type moisturizer as it is not oily, but it may not be hydrating enough sometimes. So, this gel cream maybe a good try since it promises OIL-FREE!

This moisturizer comes in a nice packaging (I love blue colour ). However, there is no protection under the cap. The moisturizer is watery and when I open it, some gel cream actually fell out. I wish it comes with an extra safety cover underneath the cap as we might travel around with it.

I have been using it for about 2 weeks. For the first 2 days, I felt slightly dehydrated at my lower cheek. After that I felt hydrated again! What I like the most is the Oil-Free feeling! My face is moisturized the whole day without feeling oily. It is so light! But, it is sticky on my face before it fully absorbs.

At night or in the morning when I wash my face, it feels like there is a layer of lotion of my face. Once I use cleanser, it goes away. So far, it does not bug me. It also has a light scent. I do not know how to describe it. It does not smell good or bad. I just ignore it .

When I purchase this product at Gurney, I was given some Kiehl's samples. Oh, Kiehl's is so generous. Too bad they did not have Midnight Recovery Concentrate sample. I would love to try that before buying (cos it is not cheap ).

Well, I can say I do not have much complain about this product. But I do hope that Kiehl's can come up with a better packaging with a 'safety' cover.

So have you tried this yet and how do you think?

Hello ladies! How are you doing? :)

This time, I would like to share about my experience in a Indian vegetarian restaurant called WOODLANDS! It is located near to the Little India in Penang. It opens daily and has a very comfortable air-conditioned environment for you to enjoy your meal. :) Thanks to my bf who brought me there. ;)

We ordered vegetable fried rice, mushroom fried rice, poori and madras coffee. :) I love the mushroom fried rice more as the vegetable fried rice has strong pepper smell. The fried rice also came with white colour sour gravy, my bf said it is something like 'yogurt'. Hmmm.... I wonder. :p

When you are here, remember to order their poori. :) Very nice with the gravy cooked with 'kacang putih' (Ooppss..My friend said it is 'Kacang Kuda', my bad). It came like a big balloon and flatten when it is colder. It taste real nice! ;) I saw most of the customers ordered this too.

We were then served with madras coffee. It came with a stainless steel mug and bowl. Because the coffee is hot, the bowl is for you to "tarik" (pull in English) your coffee. But I didn't do that. :p

Overall, I like the place very much and it is not expensive. It cost only RM19++ for what we ordered. I will definitely visit the place again. :) When you have no idea on where to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner, maybe you can pay this place a visit. :) They do have special menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Face Care Tips: Double Cleansing?

Few days ago, when I visited SK-II counter with a friend, we were told to do double cleansing every evening. Double cleansing? Well, I don't really have that habit. :p Most of the Asian brands promote double cleansing. Double cleansing does not mean washing your face with regular gel or foaming cleanser twice but to use a different type of cleanser (also known as makeup remover) prior to your regular cleanser.

Do you need to double cleanse if you don't wear any makeup? The answer is YES (as I was told). :) The makeup remover does not only remove makeup but also the excess sebum. It is also very important to double cleanse especially when you are under SPF. Otherwise, your pores might be clogged.;) Once you have done the first cleansing, the second will be your gel or foaming cleanser to remove impurities. :)

Types of Makeup Remover

There are mainly 3 types of makeup remover you can find in the market - cleansing oil, cleansing milk and cleansing water. From my experience, cleansing oil would be the most effective remover for heavy makeup. It removes makeup completely! However, some said using cleansing oil everyday will leave you a drier face. That differs from person to person I guess. One of the popular cleansing oil is Shu Uemura Cleansing oil.

Another type is cleansing milk. Cleansing milk is more gentle to the skin, maybe better for everyday use. But, there are comments about cleansing milk not being as effective as cleansing oil in removing heavy makeup. Well, I personally think that it is Okay for normal light makeup but eye areas should be avoided. :) I found Cellnique Vital Repair Cleansing Milk is fine on my dehydrated skin.

Lastly, cleansing water. No rinsing required and suitable for face and eyes area (but not for waterproof makeup). Like cleansing milk, it is gentle enough for everyday use. :) Just wipe with cotton pads damped with cleansing water and you are done! I have not used any cleansing water before but I intend to buy one. What I have in mind is Vichy Purete Thermale Calming Cleansing Solution and Dior Instant Cleansing Water.

Do you double cleanse everyday? Well, if you have break outs each time after you use sunscreen, you should double cleanse your face to remove the SPF chemical contents. And ladies, do let me know if you have a good makeup remover to recommend!

My Hair Treatment Experience at AimMax Hair Salon

Hello ladies!

I would like to share with you my experience of having hair treatment at AimMax Hair Salon. :) As a member of Aim Max, I get to try both scalp and hair treatment at once! (of course the membership is not cheap too :p ). The products they use is Wella System Professional, which I have seen quite often in magazine recently.I was told that the scalp treatment is to cleanse our oily scalp, exfoliate dead skin cells and restore nutrients for a healthier scalp. There are 3 main steps in this treatment - scrub (to exfoliate), scalp shampoo and scalp mask.

I was started first with scalp treatment. The hairdresser applied the scrub onto my scalp and massaged for exfoliation. I actually enjoyed this moment very much as the scrub is cooling. :) I guess it has some kind of mint ingredients. After that I was shampooed with scalp shampoo before applying scalp mask. (Oopss.. too bad I forgot to write down the name of the scalp scrub and mask :( ).

Following that, the hairdresser continued with the hair treatment. I learned that this is a personalised hair treatment. Jin (the director) combined 3 unique benefits together in one treatment by using Volumize Emulsion, Hydrate Mask and Colour Save Infusion. The reason is I have fine, coloured and dehydrated hair. After the prescribed formula was applied, I was put under a 'special' hair steamer. :p The normal hair steamer that I usually experience has only hot steam. But this one, it gave me hot steam and suddenly it turned to cold at the end of treatment. They said cold air helped to closed the pores. Hmmm... interesting huh?

Finally, the treatment is done! Jin again snapped some photos of my hair scalp to show me the difference between before and after. Too bad the pictures they sent to me was too small. Can't show it here. :( The main difference I can spot is that my hair roots are not that oily anymore. ;) Overall, I love these treatments. My hair felt soft and not overloaded.

Recipe: Home Cooked Spaghetti

Hello ladies! Today I wish to tell you how to make a simple yet delicious spaghetti!!!

This recipe was taught by my mom and trust me, it is very easy! Although it is easy, I do not purely depend on the commercial sauce but with some additional ingredients on top of that. ;)

Let's go straight to the point - the ingredients. The ingredients needed are: -

For the sauce:
1. Prego Pasta Sauce
2. Cooking oil ( I used vegetable oil)
3. Fresh tomatoes (chopped)
4. Minced garlic and onion
5. Sliced Mushroom (any type to your preference :) )
6. Tuna chunks (ayam brand or TC boy)
6. Dried Oregano
7. Parmesan Cheese
8. Salt, pepper, sugar and chicken stock powder.

For the pasta:
1. Spaghetti Pasta
2. Olive oil
3. Salt
4. Dried Oregano

I would usually prepare the pasta first before making the sauce. ;) Just boil the water with cooking oil and salt in it; salt is to add some flavor to the pasta and the oil is to keep each pasta separately. Cook the pasta in boiling water for about 15-20 minutes. Always taste the pasta from time to time to get the best texture that you like! For me, I prefer something not too soft and not too hard :p. Once the pasta is ready, set aside with some dried oregano and olive oil. :)

Now comes to making the sauce.

Stir-fry the prepared garlic and onions until they turn into golden colour. Then add in the mushroom and fresh tomatoes. Slowly cook until the tomatoes are soft. Once the tomatoes are soft, add in the tuna chunks.

After a while, add in Prego pasta sauce, chicken stock powder and any herbs that you like. For me I use oregano. You may add some water if you find the sauce too dry. But, remember not to add too much ;) Finally, season it with salt, sugar and pepper :).

Instead of putting the sauce on top of the spaghetti, I prefer to 'cook' them together. What I do is, pour the pasta into the sauce, add some cheese on it and stir for a few seconds before turning off the stove. :) This helps the pasta to absorb the sauce better! Yummy~ Of course, you can do it the other way round. Play around with it!

Now you can serve your spaghetti and enjoy with your love ones ;) Isn't that easy? :) Do not give up if your first trial is not up to your expectation. :) Practice makes perfect!

Review: Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque

I was told to exfoliate my skin once a week during my facial treatment session some time ago. It is said that it would help our skin to absorb skin care better! Well, I do not have this habit to exfoliate my skin as I have drier skin. Then I decided to purchase Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque to try. Well ya, I have to admit that I am a fan of Cellnique ;) , though there are some products that I like and some I don't. Nothing is perfect right? :p

I was told by Ruby at Cellnique (Cellnique's Expert on Facebook) that this masque can be used together with Vital Repair Cleansing Milk at 1:1 portion to reduce my skin tags and tiny red dots on my cheek. Hence, I asked for a cleansing milk sample to try. :)

Well, I like the packaging! :) Nice clear plastic jar with a metal cover. There is another cover underneath which prevents the masque from drying up.

This is a clay masque with fine grainy bits. Its texture is light and creamy which is very easy to apply. The scent is interesting, it smells like fruits especially pineapple. I then realized that it has pineapple enzyme. :)

How to use it? As recommended, I mix the masque with the cleansing milk at 1:1 portion before applying to my face. Surprisingly, there was no tingling feel on my face. I guess the cleansing milk helps to avoid that (I tried the masque once without the cleansing milk and I got slight tingling feel). ;) After applying a layer, leave it for 10-15 minutes to dry. Then, rub your skin gently in circular motion with wet hands to exfoliate the skin. Finally you are done by rinsing off with warm water. :)

My skin felt very smooth and soft after using this masque. Thanks to the fruit enzymes! However, do not use this masque more than once a week if you have a sensitive skin.

This Advanced Bio Renewal Masque does not leave my skin feeling dry like most clay masks do. But, I still apply hydrating mask after exfoliation to restore hydration on my skin :) .

Overall, I like this masque very much although I am still not sure if it will help to reduce my skin tag and red dots. :)

Pros: Not drying, smooth, refresh and nice scent.

For Lips: Dior Addict Lipstick #579 'Must-Have'

Again, I was buried with a lot of works. (or maybe I have bad time management skill ). And finally I found myself a time to update my blog.

Last weekend I bought a Dior Addict lipstick - #579 'Must-Have'! I know we often have headache on choosing the right color for our lips and I’m gonna tell you how I picked the one for myself.

I already had my mind set to Dior Addict lipstick before going to the mall. So, the problem came when deciding on the colours (there are approx. 42 colours available ). There are 3 main tones (light, medium and dark) and ranging from orange, pink to purple. I told the SA that I wanted something medium so I can use it for day and night out.

Remember, “Trial and Error” is always the best way to choose a colour that suits your face.

First, I tried orange type and my face looked very pale (too bad I didn’t bring my camera along to show you the output ). I then tried pink range and I didn’t like it, maybe it didn’t look natural. Within seconds, the smart SA asked me to try on a pink-purple type of colour. WOW! I just love the colour! At that moment I knew I’m gonna grab it. ) Kudos to the SA!

Here are the swatches on my hand and my lips.

As you can see, the colour does bring up the lips. To me, I think it is perfect for either day or night out. For its texture, I personally think that it is moisturizing (does not dry my lips out) and giving me a nice slip. In addition, it has a little sheer, giving you a glossy lips.

However, you may pass this lipstick if you expect a long lasting colour on your lip. You need to reapply from time to time to maintain the colour. I guess this is the trade off between the wear time and moisture.

Overall, I love this lipstick very much! Tell me, what is your favorite lipstick?

Today, I bought a gift for my aunt, who just came back from the States for vacation. It gave me a headache on finding something special for her, something that probably she cannot get in US. :)

Finally I made up my mind on Royal Selangor Pewter!Since she likes something cute, I get her a pewter mug - Teddy Bears' Picnic which is RM170.00. :p In addition, there is 10% discounts for Intel Employees! wow~

The packaging is simple and nice. :)

Actually, I like the teddy bear sitting at the side ;)

Although it is a little pricey, I'm sure it is a good gift idea, especially it can be kept as a memorable souvenir!

Do you realize that most of the facial salon and spa has aroma scent? I love the scent so much that it actually made me relax during the treatment in the salon :) *sniff sniff* Then I came to know that it is aromatherapy!

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mind, mood, cognitive function or health - definition from Wikipedia.

I then decided to practice aromatherapy at home too! The reason is I wanna get myself relax after a tiring working day! :p So, I went searching for a good burner (shown above), essential oil and candles. :)

It is said that a good burner is very important as it will provide suitable temperature to burn the essential oil. So I picked up a burner from Blu Scents Aromatherapy store at RM40 ( if I still remember it correctly :P).

Next, what we need is a pure and high quality essential oil. A poor quality of essential oils might give you bad effect. Remember, fragrance oil is different from pure essential oil. So watch out when you are selecting an essential oil. I got mine from Eve Taylor, Relax blend, which does not contain alcohol, mineral oil, artificial fragrance, artificial preservative or colour.

The candles I bought are Blue Scents organic candles.

They are made from 100% vegetable palm oils, a replenishing raw material that is an environmental friendly alternative to paraffin based tea light candles. There candles also have clean burning properties with no smoke. Organic Tea lights are perfect for use in well ventilated vaporizers and oil burners - described by Blu Scents.

To practice aromatherapy, what you need to do is to fill some water on top of the burner and pour 3-5 drops of essential oil into it. Lastly, light up the candle and place it inside the burner!

Now you can have a relaxing moment while watch a tv show or reading a book :) Good Luck!

In Love: With Urban Decay Primer Potion

For some time, I have been having headache on how to prevent my eyeshadow from creasing, fading or smearing. :( The eyeshadow often becomes greasy and forms a line in the middle of my eye lid.

Do you encounter the same problem like I do?

Finally, I found the solution - Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) from makeup blogs! :) It is a fantastic eye primer that I am totally obsessed with right now. It works perfectly on preventing the eyeshadow from creasing! ;) Sounds like a miracle huh?

The Little Purple Tube

UDPP comes in an odd shaped bottle. Although I like the packaging, the shape of the bottle might give a false indicator that your primer is finishing. Maybe when we thought the tube is done, we can cut it to see if there is anymore left :P (Well, I haven’t come to this point yet)

The Creamy Primer

UDPP has a creamy texture. One swipe with the sponge-tip applicator is more than enough for one eyelid. It creates a smooth magnetic eyelid that is ideal for eyeshadow application. Hooray~ ;)

My Experiment

I have experimented with UDPP by applying eyeshadow on my right eye (with UDPP) and my left eye (without UDPP) to see how both eyes go after few hours.

Here are the results after 4 hours. Hope you can see the difference :P

My Skin Care Routine

I didn’t bother much about skin care until 2 years ago when my face started to get very dehydrated and sensitive. I guess my previous cleanser does not work for me anymore :p

My skin: Generally I have a dry and sensitive skin. I will have break outs the next day if the product I used is not suitable for me. So normally, I will be extra careful when choosing a new skin care product.

Let me share with you my current skin care routine ;)

1. Cleanser: Cellnique Seaweed Cleansing Gel

This cleanser does not dry up my skin. :) Maybe is because it is a gel type. It does not foam up much and as a result it will not dry up your skin. I learnt that a cleanser that has lots of foams will absorb the oil and give you a cleaner ‘feel’. That is suitable for an oily skin but not the dehydrated one like mine.

2. Toner: Cellnique Soothing and Hydrating Lotion / Clinelle Skin Soothing Toner

So far I have tried Cellnique and Clinelle toner. Both of them do not impress me much. I don’t feel anything special about them and it is just ok. The reason why I have both is my Cellnique toner has finished and I picked up Clinelle during a sale. Clinelle attracted me as it does not contain Comedogenic Ingredients. Well, I am still looking for a good toner ;)

3. Moisturizer: Cellnique Intensive Hydrating Oasis Gel

I love this moisturizer very much. It is a gel type! Although creamy is more suitable for dry skin, it tends to give me a thick layer of oily face. I would say “thumbs up” for this gel moisturizer as it does hydrate my skin without making my face oily! I really love this ;)
