Nine years after American Wedding, the third installment to the hit franchise, comes the much anticipated American Reunion.

The whole gang returns for the reunion, the cast members that weren’t in all the movies have returned for this one. Who would miss this right? Reunion has everything you look for in an American Pie movie…Come on it has Stifler, it has stay true to the franchise right.

American Reunion is about the gang returning to East Great Falls, Michigan for a high school reunion. The gang may have grown up, some of them may have gotten married and some may have become parents; however they are all still the immature people that we have grown to love over the years. Jim is still that guy that stuck is…Uh…Junk into pie and Michelle is still that girl from band camp that stuck that flute up her…Well you know. This movie has a reference to everything that means anything; I mean they talked about Twilight.

As great as all these kids are in this movie Jim’s Dad, played by Eugene Levy, stole the show as he does in all of them. His performance was fantastic and really a sole reason to go see this movie, really go see this movie just to see what Jim’s dad is going to do.

Now we American Pie fan know that in every movie they always make some sort of reference to Jim’s man areas, things have been stuck to it, it has been stuck in things and it’s been talked about. Well this time not only do they refer to it, they show it. That’s right people, they finally went there. On a side note Jason Biggs, who play’s Jim, was very happy about it.

I would like to make an announcement, this is one great movie to the old Pie fans and is a movie that will get new Pie fans, it was definitely worth the nine year wait I truly hope that they will make another one and if it’s as good as this one I won’t care how long it takes. It’s obviously not a movie to take your kids too, but take time out of your day and go see this movie.

Mirror Mirror Review

Snow White seems to be the new craze in the world right now and Mirror Mirror is just one of many to cash in.

“Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” it’s the up and coming actress Lilly Collins, who was cast as Snow White, alongside big time actress Julia Roberts, who plays the evil queen. The movie is not 100% the fairy tale, with the seven dwarfs becoming the seven rebels.

After being exiled, Snow White enlists help from the seven rebels and fights to win back her bright light from the evil queen, who has taken control of the kingdom. Snow White’s love interest Prince Alcott, played by Armie Hammer, is also there to help her win back her light.

With the Hunger Games opening the weekend before it was almost certain that Mirror Mirror would not take the number one spot, the movie opened up at number three. It grossed in 19.0 million for the weekend. The movie had been scheduled for a March 16^th release and then a June 29^th date; it had been rescheduled twice only to land n March 30^th. They would have had better luck at getting a number one spot for the weekend had they stayed with the March 16^th date.

If you’re a fan of the story than go ahead and try this movie, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Although this movie is good it is not that much of a difference from all the countless adaptation before it, which is a little bit disappointing. Aside from that it is a generally alright movie and I do recommend it for any Snow White fan; it’s based off the Brother’s Grim version of the tale.

Kids Choice Awards

March 31 was the KCA’s, sometimes I wonder what people are thinking where they put together the KCA’s. People get nominated and I am almost 100% certain that kids don’t even know who they are, so sometimes I wonder what the heck goes through their mind.

This year’s KCA’s were not that entertaining, Will Smith did his best to keep everyone laughing and he did a well enough job; however every time Smith was not on I was wonder why I even bothered to tune in. Though I must admit the winners were very surprising, there were a lot of upsets throughout the night, others were pretty obvious.

Some of the surprise were, Adam Sandler taking best actor over Johnny Depp and Daniel Radcliffe and Alvin and the Chipmunks taking best movie over Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. An obvious one was Selena Gomez taking best actress and Justin Bieber taking best male singer.

The one thing that did keep me really entertained was the mystery of who was ‘creepy voice’ the voice that was preventing Will Smith from doing a great job at the KCA’s, I spent the whole night trying to come up with people that I thought it could be. In the end it was no one I guessed, it turned out to be Celo Green which was awesome because come on, who doesn’t love Celo right? Another fun thing to see was after Taylor Lautner won for best butt kicker, he did ‘1000’ push ups and right after he was done got slimed.

The slimes for the night were done very well; the crowd in front of the stage got it bad when balloons filled with slime exploded above them. Halle Berry got a bucket of slime dumped on her when Will thought she was ‘creepy voice’. Chris Colfer got some slime right in his face when a blimp exploded and covered the young man in the green substance and Justin Bierber and Smith got the worst of it when Justin got voted as the person to be slimed. The slime came from every part of the stage and soaked the two as well as the crowd in the thick green slime.

Happy Hunger Games!

Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor.

The much loved book has finally been adapted into a much anticipated movie, opening up as the third biggest opening weekend in movie history with $155 million; only behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and the Dark Knight. The movie stared Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, this movie was 2.3 hours of nonstop fun and excitement.

A boy and a girl are selected by the Capitol from twelve districts, once chosen they must fight to survive. It’s a game of kill or be killed. Katniss takes the place of sister, so to save her of having to go through this event at such a young age. Katniss is joined by Peeta, the boy from her district, together they head to training before the Hunger Games. Their biggest challenge comes from district 2, Cato played by Alexander Ludwig.

The movie is filled with stars like Lenny Kravits, Cinna, and Donald Sutherland, President Snow, this movie doesn’t disappoint in any form. For those fans that have read the books by Suzanne Collins will see that the movie is a very close adaptation, one of the closest book adaptations ever. If you have not read the book don’t worry, the screenplay does a very good job of having everyone understand exactly what the Hunger Games are about without the questions.

J. Lawrence’s work of the girl on fire should be raved; she took a tough role and made it look effortless, Hutcherson pulled off a believable job as Peeta as well. However as good as they were individually they were not as great together, the chemistry was a little bit off between the two. That was the smallest flaw in a phenomenal movie.

To summarize this review: Miss the Hunger Games and miss the movie of the year.

21 Jump Street Review

The hit TV show from 1987 just turned into one of the best comedies of the year, 21 Jump Street is going to leave you holding your stomach in pain from laughing so hard.

Channing Tatum throws off his normal serious role to take on the role of Jenko and Jonah Hill slims down for his part as Schmidt. The movie is written by Michael Bacall who has written other hit comedies such as, Scott Pilgrim vs the World and Project X. This movie was setup to succeed from the start with no room to fail.

The movie adaptation follows the TV show as far as young officers being sent to a high school in order to solve a crime. The movie has Jenko and Schmidt, two of the academies underachieving officers, blend into a high school in order to bring down a drug ring.

The movie opened at number one in the box office at $35 million and as of March 30^th has made $115,300.00 million worldwide, though the movie isn’t number one anymore it remains the number one movie in the world right now. The movie also had a guest appearance by the star of the TV show Johnny Depp as Tom Hanson, the same character he used to play in the TV show.

There are already talks about a sequel, having Hill and Bacall writing the screenplay this time around. Tatum and Hill are also both expected to return and star in it once more. If you’re having a bad day do yourself a favor and go see this movie, if your bored do yourself a favor go see this movie...Just do yourself a favor and don’t miss this movie please, you will leave with a smile that you will have to force off your face.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax Review

As kids we grew up reading Dr. Seuss’ books, Green Eggs and Ham and How the Grinch Stole Christmas are just a few of them. Many of Seuss’ books have been turned into movies that we love like Cat in the Hat. The newest adaptation is Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.

The cast list for the Lorax is outstanding with Danny DeVito as The Lorax himself; with him we also have Ed Helms as The Once-ler, Zac Efron as Ted, Taylor Swift as Audrey and Betty White as Grammy Norma. This was Zac Efron’s first ever voice over role, having a 24 year old man play a 12 year old boy is no easy task; however Efron pulled it off and his role as the young and in love Ted is very believable.

In order to win the affections of Audrey, the girl of Ted’s dreams, he must search for the one thing that is no longer in their world...Trees, that’s right they live in a world without trees. For Ted to find this he must learn the story of The Lorax, a small, grumpy, orange, but somehow charming creature that fights to protect his own world.

The screenplay is written by Ken Daurio, who has written a fantastic amount of other animated movies such as Horton hears a Who and Despicable Me to name a couple. The Lorax is directed by Chris Renaud, who also worked on Despicable Me, and Kyle Balda, who worked on Toy Story 2 the second movie to the hit franchise.

The Lorax is the number one family movie in the world right now, so obviously I’m going to recommend you take your family to see this. If you’re a young adult or an adult go and see this movie anyway, it’s a light hearted movie that will get you to laugh but in some way touch your heart. Don’t miss out on a great movie just because it’s categorized for ‘kids’ everyone can learn a lesson from it.

This Means War Review

We’ve used the term so much that it has become a cliché, but it doesn’t ring more true than when two spy’s go up against each other...This really does mean war.

Reese Witherspoon, Lauren, stars alongside Chris Pine, FDR Forster, and Tom Hardy, Tuck, in the action comedy. The movie is about two of the CIA agents FDR and Tuck waging war against each other when they find out they are both dating the same girl, Lauren. Lauren is oblivious to the fact that the two men know each other, but throughout the movie has to decide on which one she would rather date while the two men sabotage each other’s dates; in order to win her over.

This Means War had an original release date of February 14, but was pushed back by Sony Pictures so that they would not have to go head to head with The Vow on Valentine’s Day. Despite this, This Means War did not open at number one but at number five for its opening weekend, still behind The Vow, Safe House, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The movie made only $17.4 million on opening weekend.

This Means War is by far not one of the best movies of the year, it’s not as funny as you’d think it would be and there is more action than there is romance. If you go to see this movie I suggest you take a friend, you both can pick one of the guys you think she’ll end up with and that might make it more fun to sit through. If you want to give this movie a chance go ahead, but I can’t guarantee that you won’t regret it.

The Vow

Titanic, The Notebook, Gone with the Wind, and Dear John all those movies are some of the greatest love stories ever told and now you can add The Vow to that list. Staring the Notebooks Rachel McAdams and Dear John’s Channing Tatum, both make romantic movies worth seeing. The Vow is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.

A horrific car accident puts Paige Collins into a coma, when she finally does wake up she is suffering from severe memory loss. She wakes up not knowing who her husband Leo Collins is and he has to fight with everything he has to win her heart back. The Vow opened at number one in the box office with 15.4 million only on opening day and made 42.1 million on opening weekend. It was also the first movie in 2012 that crossed the 100 million mark. The much anticipated movie did not fail to impresses.

Romantic movies are not something I go and watch, but this movie was requested by a follower and so I saw it. I was blown away at how much I enjoyed it, at how much it touched my heart. Tatum and McAdams both deserve recondition for their work in this movie, they really made me believe in the characters, I wanted her to remember him...I wanted her to love him. I really hope that the Carpenter’s loved the movie and their portals because I believe that Tatum and McAdams did them justice.

The chemistry between McAdams and Tatum was mind blowing, the most important thing about two actors having to play a couple is the chemistry they have together and these two pulled it off. I felt the love that Leo had and need that Paige felt. I never rooted for a couple the way I did for them and shows how real they were on that screen.

It’s a love story you need to watch, it’s going to be a huge mistake to skip on this movie. It’s a great date night movie, but see it with a friend too just don’t miss out. I promise it will not be a waste of time, remember this is coming from someone who doesn’t enjoy romantic movies. Warning, if you are going to see this movie do yourself a favor and bring tissues.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Journy 2 Mysterious Island is a great family movie, one that I recommend that every family should go and see. The movie stars a great cast with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Michael Cain, Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Hutcherson. The story is about Sean Anderson teaming up with his step father and together they head to the Mysterious Island, where Sean believe his missing Grandfather is. In order to get there they need a way to fly so they team up with a man who fly’s a helicopter named Gabato and his daughter Kailani.

Nothing in this movie is the way you expect it to be, from the giant lizards, to miniature elephants and to the giant bees that you can ride. It’s a movie that is filled with laughs and touching moments; it’s exciting and always keeps you entertained. There are a lot of movies out there that have no reason to be 3D but they are simply because it is the in thing to do, this is not one of those movies. Journey‘s 3D affects are done amazingly, it’s exactly what I look for when I go to a 3D movie. I want to feel like I need to duck when something is coming my way, I want to feel like I am in the jungle with the cast and that is exactly what I got with Journey.

This movie has a little bit of something for everyone, for the ladies there’s Dwayne, for the men there is The Rock and the action, and for the kids there’s is the comedy and action. For me there was the peck pop of love, one of my favorite scenes throughout the whole movie. Overall it is a great movie; from start to finish it is incredible. Not a movie you want to skip this year.

Academy Awards 2012 (The Oscars)

Billy Crystal hosts his 9th Oscar, Meryl Streep wins her 3rd Oscar, Hugo and the Artist takes home five Oscars. The 84th Academy Awards was entertaining for sure, Billy Crystal had jokes that cracked everyone up including a skit where he told the audience what the celebrities were thinking and in another skit he shared a kiss with George Clooney. Crystal made the three hour show feel like an hour, he did am amazing job hosting I wish that he would do it every year.

Hugo and the Artist were the bigger winners of the night, taking home five awards. Hugo took three awards in a row at one point, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Affects. They also took home the awards for Art Direction and Cinematography. The Artist walked away with Costume Design, Directing, and Music (Original Score). The Artist took home two of the biggest awards of the night, Best Picture and Jean Dujardin took home Actor In a Leading Role, out beating George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

In the supporting roles, Christopher Plummer won his first Oscar for his role in the Beginners; this was also his first Academy Award Nomination. Much like Plummer Octavia Spencer took home her first Oscar and it was her first nomination as well, Spencer was a favorite for the award but it was a close race with Melissa McCarthy right behind her; either one could have won.

Meryl Streep holds the record for the most Oscar nominations ever; she has 17 nominations under her belt. Last night Meryl picked up her 3rd Oscar which now makes her one of four actors to ever pick up three Oscars. Meryl picked up the award for her amazing work in The Iron Lady and for her portal of British Icon and Prime Minister Margret Thatcher. Even though Meryl picked up the Golden Globe for the same category, Viola Davis was the favorite for her work in the Help.

The Woman In Black

When actors take a role that changes their careers the media and fans tend to tight cast them as that character for the rest of their life, whether they are actors that have three movies under their belt or thirty movies under their belt the second they get that ‘hit’ movie they have to struggle to shake of that role. Zac Efron will forever be known as Troy Bolton, Johnny Depp is Captain Jack Sparrow and Kristin Stewart is Bella Swan, but if an actor is lucky they will take a role that will make fans and media look at them differently. Daniel Radcliff is one of those actors; he is no longer going to be Harry Potter after his role in The Woman in Black. Radcliff’s performance in this movie is one to be praised, a great first role from the movie’s that made him famous.

Radcliff put down the wand for a briefcase in his role as Arthur Kipps, a widowed lawyer and father to a young boy. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Susan Hill, bought out in 1983. The Woman in Black is about a lawyer who is struggling financially, he gets a last shot at his job when he is sent to a remote village to collect paper work on a dead woman. While there Kipps discovers that a ghost of a scorned vengeful woman is terrorizing the town locals and soon him.

The Woman in Black is defiantly a throwback to classic horror movies; they don’t make horror movies like this anymore. It has everything you look for in a scary movie, thrill, suspense and of course those moments that make you jump out of your seat and scream. The Woman in Black keeps you at the edge of your seat from the start to the end, it is defiantly going to be the best horror movie of 2012 but it should have a place as one of the best movies in 2012 if not ever. The Woman in Black is rated 14A but I do not recommend taking someone to this movie that is younger than 15, it is not meant for kids.

UnderWorld; Awakening

Kate Beckinsale throws on the classic leather outfit for the fourth instalment of Underworld, the first of which came out in 3D. Underworld: Awakening came out on January 20th 2012 and took the number one spot in the box office on opening weekend, as expected by many. Awakening starts twelve years after Underworld: Evolution, the second movie, along with a recap that brings you up to date with this fourth instalment. Awakening moved away from the three movies prior by having the story be about more than just Vampires vs Lycans, it is defiantly a breath of fresh air. The movie puts on an extraordinary twist from the start that you will never see coming. ‘The Underworld comes to our world’ could not be truer; having humans brought into the film’s franchise is just one of many reasons why Awakening might be the best of the series so far. In addition to the fresh storyline we also get some fresh faces, Theo James who plays David an ally to Selene and Charles Dance a vampire elder named Thomas.

The 3D for this movie was done well enough, at some points I actually felt like a weapon was coming at me; however Awakening could have been done without 3D and been just as good. As good as Underworld: Awakening was it ended too quickly, running only 88 minutes. Having the movie be that short made it feel like some of the story was rushed. Those are very minimal flaws in an overall outstanding movie and defiantly not a reason to skip this movie. I’ll be crossing my fingers for another two years hoping for a fifth instalment to be just as amazing.

Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) 2012

The 18^th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) brought in some surprising winners. Viola Davis won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for The Help over this year’s Golden Globe winner Meryl Streep, a well-deserved award none the less. The Help's Octavia Spencer picked up Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, her seventh award for this movie. The Help also picked up Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, out beating favourites Bridesmaids. Gean Dujardin picked up Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the Artist, out beating the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Christopher Plummer picked up another award for his performance in the Beginners; he picked up Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

SAG honored Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 with an award for Outstanding Performance a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, out beating other action pact movies like Transformers: Dark of the Moon and X Man First Class. Merry Tyler Moore was the 48th Life Achievement Recipient; the achievement award is meant for those who have achieved the finniest ideal of the acting profession. Moore who did outstanding work in film, television and stage, is one of SAGs most deserving recipient. Not only is she a fantastic actress she is also an unbelievable advocate, Moore  who for 30 years  taught people how to live with type 1 diabetes  and gave hope to all of those affected by it.

 The SAG awards which debut back in 1995 has since become one of the industries most prised honors.

2012 Golden Globes

The Descendants and The Artist were big winners at the 2012 Golden Globes, which were held on January 14.

The Descendants won the Best Motion Picture-drama Award, which was a category that contained extraordinary movies, such as the hit movie Moneyball. George Clooney picked up best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama for Descendants, a very well deserved award.

The Artist picked up the award for best original score composed by Ludovic Bource, a very important award and very well deserved for a silent movie. Jean Dujardin picked up best performance by an actor in a motion picture comedy or musical, for his amazing acting work in a silent movie.

The Artist is about a silent movie star, George Valentin, who wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion; he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break.

The Descendants is a movie about a land baron that tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident. Directed by Alexander Payne and based on the novel “Descendants” by Kaui Hart Hemmings.

If you’re into a movie that’s going to make you laugh and touch your heart at the same time then The Descendants is for you.

If you’re looking for something classical or rare go see the artist it’s like something you’ve never seen before, garneted to be one of the best movies in 2011.
