As I was writing an article about Event Security Portland, I can't help but remember a tragic event that happened here in the Philippines a few years ago. A noon time show called Wowowee hosted by Willie Revillame was about to have their anniversary show in a stadium in Pasig where millions of pesos and a house and lot are at stake. So many people became very excited and they all prepared to join the said event.

As early as a day before, they went to the venue to lineup. The people know that the prizes at stake are too attractive that many will surely flock the event. And as expected, thousands of people have lined up to watch the show and hopefully join the contest. On the day of the event there were already about 30,000 people who were waiting to go in the stadium. The stadium has only about 19,000 seating capacity. People were informed that not everyone can come inside the stadium. When the gates of the stadium opened; the mayhem started. Every one wanted to get in and the guards couldn't control the mob. People climbed everywhere; the fences, the roofs of the walkways; the gates and even the posts. They pushed each other and those who fell were stepped on. More than 70 people died in the stampede and thousands were hurt. Most of the victims were children and the elderly.

I think it was both the organizers and the people in charge of the stadium are to blame for the tragedy. They did not have proper planning and contingency plans for the extra 10,000 people who came.

Cases were filed against the producers of the show and I'm just not sure if what happened with it. The news died down a few months after the incident. If only there was tight security and proper management of the event, all these could have been avoided.

A few months after the iPhone 4s was released, my two-year contract with my carrier recently ended. There was an offer to upgrade my plan so I could avail of the new phone. I already had the 3GS so I was debating on renewing and upgrading the contract or not. But then I thought, why not? I've worked so hard and I deserve a little reward. So I recently got my new phone and there are three things that I love about it. First it's Siri. The kids and I are having fun asking Siri so many questions. Second is the camera. The photos are very clear and there's just so much to do with it. Lastly, it's the iCloud. It's more than just a hard drive because you can easily store everything wirelessly and push them to all your other devices.

iCloud is so cool that I searched for a similar storage for all our files in our PCs. I found top cloud storage. There are a few other companies but top cloud tops all ratings. The developers of this cloud offers to save all your computer (even company files!) virtually for a very minimal fee. Just like with iCloud, you can easily access any or all your files with just a few clicks of your mouse. Our family computer has a lot files and those are mostly from hubs' tournament records and the kids' school records. Then they have tons of photos and other internet files that they say, they can't do without. I've thought of buying additional hard drives but when I checked the prices, the cost is out of my budget.

Hubs and I thought of using discs to save them but it would take a lot of time plus, they can easily be corrupted and damaged. We've had several discs that contained some of my works but when I tried to retrieve some files, they were already corrupted. A blogger friend suggested we try online backups. She said there are companies that offer to store your files online for a minimal fee. Then you can easily retrieve them whenever you need the files; no more tedious transfers and no more worries of the files getting corrupted.

It sounds like a great idea so I checked the online backup ratings so I can find the best and the cheapest. The process was pretty easy. As soon as I have finished with the registration, I just upload all my files. That's it!

If you also need file backups, I strongly recommend that you do it online. You save yourself from doing the tedious work of transferring files and labeling each disc, and you save yourself money from buying hard drives or discs.

My favorite bistro has some of the heartiest dishes you can find. The ambience is as great as the food. What carries the entire restaurant are its exquisite coffee tables. They go well with the motif of the place. The service is good and you can even chat with the bistro's owner and executive chef. They make excellent sandwiches and the entrees are to die for. Their desserts are very good too. The flagship of their desserts; their decadent triple chocolate cake. I can spend and entire afternoon sipping their brewed coffee while eating a light meal or pastry. Even my husband can't have enough of their great food.

When I read that undermount stainless steel sinks can last a lifetime, that was what I chose when we decided to have a major kitchen renovation. Hubs and I recently updated our sink, kitchen counters, and faucet but it took some time because our budget was limited. We had to really check a lot of websites and compare prices before we shopped for these items. When we found an undermount sink that fits our budget, that was the time we searched for kitchen counters that will match the sink.

We are almost done with the works and I can already see the sink and counter tops taking shape. The kitchen is still in a mess but I can already imagine how pretty it's going to be. I can't wait until it's done!

It's only been a month but my sister is being promoted to a higher position. She resigned from the lab in CT where she used to work because she was accepted to a lab in NY that specializes on stem cell research. She was assigned at the cell isolation department. This is something new to her because she was used to tissue analysis but the kits for the Isolation of B cells that she used allowed her to do her job easily. She says that her job now is even easier to what she did before. Her new boss was impressed with her performance that promotion was recommended. I've never thought of it before but now that I have them, I realized there is so much space in my kitchen, plus I have additional storage for my kitchen gadgets. I brought home two kitchen carts from my parents' house. My mom received a new kitchen cart last Christmas so she gave me the ones she got a year before that.
