My favorite manicure is French. There's something about it that's really classy which always makes me want to go back to it after using other types of polishes. My new favorite thing to combine it is thin, gold rings. You can wear them alone for simplicity or stack them to create a more eye catching look.

My time in Sevilla

May 10 - June 16

Most of my time in Spain was spent in my host city of Sevilla-home of cheap (and tasty) tapas, warm people and hot, hot weather. Everyday was spent a little different with the exception of having language class from 9 a.m-11a.m and culture class from 1 p.m to 3 p.m.

Sevilla is a romantic city-home to the world's 3rd biggest Cathedral. My favorite time of day was in the evenings when around 9:30pm, a Spanish guitarist would set up his mic to play his guitar. (Check out the video on DBGift's Instagram page). I would sit on the steps of the Cathedral with my ice cream from La Abuela (recommended frozen yogurt and ice cream place) and people watch or write in my journal.

I'll leave you with some pictures. Make sure to visit this city-I already call it my second home.

Eating Sand in Tarifa

Going to Tarifa was kind of a last minute thing. My sister, 2 friends and I decided to buy bus tickets to get to the beach and return in the evening. Since we're studying in Seville, a bus ride to Tarifa is only around 2 hours.

We bought our tickets about a day in advance to avoid any last minute problems. On Saturday, I put on my bikini, grabbed my backpack and flip flops and off we went!

We walked to one of the train stations for our 9 a.m. bus ride and comfortably made our way to Tarifa. We met other American students on the bus and swapped stories about our stay in Seville. They were on their way to Granada. We visited Granada a few weeks later-more about that in a later blog post.

Now, I knew Tarifa is a hot spot for water sports, especially for those that involve wind like kitesurfing, but I didn't know it would be SO WINDY. Don't get me wrong, the beach was amazing-clean sand with the tiniest grains ever (they stick to you like they stick to the models on beach shoots)..

We found refuge between two sand dunes and laid out our towels. The conditions weren't the best to read a book, but it felt good to soak up the sun anyway.

I'll leave you with some pictures, but as a last note remember that Tarifa's a great place for water sports and, of course, for those in for the experience, it's where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean (and you get to see the houses on the African continent across the water on a clear day)!

24 Hours in Toledo

We took a bus to Toledo today where a handsome tour guide gave us a tour of la ciudad antigua. Toledo, a mix of three cultures (Jewish, Muslim and Christian) is really beautiful..Pinterest worthy views on every corner...flower balconies and narrow streets..places like that exist! We headed up a hill to see a panoramic view of the city and went to see the 4th biggest cathedral in the world shortly after.

After the tour, my sister and some friends from our program found feast for lunch-1/2 roasted chicken (literally half of a chicken), paella, drink of your choice, and ice cream-all for 10 euros and a good conversation (sobremesa). Deal.

By this time we were ready to explore more of the city..it's a funny feeling..wanting to get lost somewhere you've never been. Well we didn't get lost, but ended up going in circles. Close enough. We bumped into a bachelor party and let me tell you, Spaniards know how to have fun.

After a 7 hour 56 minute flight, I found myself in the Madrid Barajas Airport with six other students from my program. We picked up our luggage and made our way over to Terminal 1 to meet with the program directors. The directors had arranged for a bus to take us to our hotel and I was hoping to get my room and plop onto my bed to sleep. But (!) the city doesn't get back into its hustle and bustle until after 2pm, so we dropped our luggage off and left to explore.

Despite being hungry and jet lagged, my roommate (my sister) and I were able to make our way over to the Buen Retiro Park to explore the flower garden and enjoy a stroll down it's many roads. We decided to kill time by having lunch- we went to a restaurant at 1:55pm and were the only ones there until hungry Spaniards came in after 2pm.

At this point I still haven't napped and when I finally got my room, I accidentally slept for 3 hours and almost missed the bus tour around the city. Whoops! At 6pm, the city was still lively and the streets still crowded.

As students trying to orient ourselves to the Spanish culture, we decided to have dinner at about 9pm and stumbled at a great restaurant a short walk away from our hotel. I will update this post when I get the exact name and location so you can check it out too.

We ended dinner at 11pm-proper ending time for a Spanish cena and walked back to our rooms for some sweet sleep.

My Week on Instagram Vol. 2

Hello all,

Here's an overdue post about a week months ago on Instagram. I decided to share it anyway because I still wear this bracelet/earring combo. I hope I can inspire you to create an arm party combination of something similar!

Photo One: I've been obsessed with these arm jewels for weeks. You can never have too many evil eyes for good luck. ;) I feel that the gold anchor studs bring the whole look together and that it's easy to wear with anything considering the subtly of each bracelet. That said, I received the bracelets as gifts, but you can find similar chain bracelets here

1. Use tinted moisturizer for the summertime-foundation could be too cakey!
-I recommend Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream. It's an 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector with SPF 30 and perfect for those hot summer days. Mine is in the shade Medium/Deep .

2. Don't forget to use a primer for eyeshadow that lasts all day long.
-Greasy eyelids are not creations of myth. If you have have oily skin, use a primer before you apply eyeshadow to make sure your lids stay perfect all day (or night!). I have Elf's Eye Primer and Liner Sealer Duo.

3. Use white nail polish as a base before applying bright colors to make your nails pop.
-The white will bring out the bright colors. I like to apply white polish before I put on any orange or pink polish.

Back to School: Styling Lace Dresses

It's back to school season for many of us and while we may not be excited for early mornings, there is definitely some thrill when it comes to picking outfits for the new school year.

As we're transitioning into Fall, I thought the best way to bring summer vibes onto campus would be to combine lace dresses with different types of accessories. Here are three looks you can wear before the "I don't feel like dressing up" feeling hits midway through the year.

Look # 1: For all you edgy girls- wear your leather jacket and black heels to toughen up your image.

Look # 2: Opposite of look # 1...pair your dress with gold accents for a sweet and flirty look. Nude heels will make your legs appear longer and draw attention to your cute dress and you.

Look # 3: For the Indie Traveler: Throw on your distressed jean jacket, brown leather sandals and hat for a relaxed feel on the first day of school.

Note: Some schools don't allow heels or hats, so feel free to adjust these looks to your style and school dress code.

Summertime..sadness?

There's always that bittersweet moment as you board the plane back home after a vacation you thought couldn't possibly end.

That was me a couple weeks ago as I finished my trip overseas. I traveled to Europe, including Greece and Germany and I have a ton of pictures waiting to decorate the next couple blog posts! ;)

That said, I would like to blame the lack of Internet connection for my 2 month disappearance from this blog. ;)

Fun times aside, I'm so ready to get started on a busy year & I can't wait to share new designs for the jewelry.
