2016-06-22T13:11:00.000-07:00

One of Pakistan most famous singer Amjad Sabri has been shot dead in the southern city of Karachi.
Two gunmen fired on his car in the busy Liaqatabad area, police said. Sabri died on his way to hospital. The Pakistani Taliban has told the BBC it carried out the attack.
Sabri was a leading exponent of Sufi devotional music, known as Qawwali. Sufism, a tolerant, mystical practice of Islam, has millions of followers in Pakistan but is opposed by extremists.

The Taliban, who view Sufism as heretical, have been blamed for previous assaults on targets linked to Sufi Islam. But there have been no such attacks in the past couple of years, the BBC's M Ilyas Khan in Islamabad reports.Sabri, who was among the sub-continent's top Qawwali singers, was hit by five bullets, police said. Another person, thought to be a relative, was wounded in the shooting and is said to be in a critical condition.

"It was a targeted killing and an act of terrorism," a senior police officer, Muqaddas Haider, was quoted by AFP news agency as saying.

Led Zeppelin Singer.. Robert Plant Testifies as defence Rests in Stairway Trial...

2016-06-22T13:00:00.004-07:00

He said he could not remember meeting the band Spirit, who claim the band stole their guitar riff for Stairway to Heaven in the 1970s.
I don't have a recollection of almost anyone I've hung out with," Plant said, causing roars of laughter in the court.
The case was brought on behalf of Spirit's late guitarist, Randy Wolfe.
His estate claims the opening riff of the 1968 song Taurus is fundamentally the same as the iconic opening bars of Stairway to Heaven. Defence lawyers argue the chord progression in question is very common and has been in use for more than 300 years.
The prosecution has argued Led Zeppelin became familiar with Spirit's song after the two bands played on the same bill in Plant's hometown at the Birmingham club Mother's in 1970.
Spirit's bassist Mark Andes testified last week he met Plant at the show and played snooker with him afterward.

D-CAF: A Collision of Contemporary Art and Architecture In Downtown Cairo......The world's finest artists are going to fill the city's iconic Downtown landmarks, rooftops, and streets for the 5th Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival.......

2016-06-21T11:34:00.000-07:00

In a time when Egypt’s art spaces are being shut down and its authors arrested, this year’s edition of the Downtown Contemporary Art Festival (D-CAF) carries particular significance.

Ever since we had our first taste of D-CAF in 2012, the multidisciplinary arts festival has broadened the country’s artistic horizon, bringing forgotten art forms to our now philistine city.
This year is no different; from March 31st to April 22nd, art will once again sweep across the streets of Downtown Cairo in another colourful and vibrant celebration of art and architecture,

showcasing some of the best up-and-coming and established local, regional, and international talents in various art disciplines - ranging from theatre to film, and visual arts to music
and bringing to life the architectural gems of Downtown Cairo with public contemporary dance through the festival’s Urban Visions programme.
Holding performances in unorthodox venues is another one of D-CAF’s distinct attributes a signature move
, if you will, and a tradition they intend to keep alive this year as well

. “We’re hoping to get the old French consulate again, and we’re going to use Radio Cinema in a completely different configuration.

We’re expecting three to four thousand people, so we’re using a lot of the same venues but also quite a few new ones, D-CAF Artistic Director and Curator of the Performing Arts Programme Ahmed Al Attar says.

D-CAF’s choice of locations, while eccentric, serves higher purposes and is more than just a marketing gimmick. Wherever D-CAF went, it kind of changed the urban fabric of these neighbourhoods in some sense.
The Kodak Passageway and Radio Cinema have now been completely renovated. D-CAF has left its mark. It brings people to places that they know but really don’t know, or they know and they pass by and are not really aware of so,http://www.cairoscene.com/ArtsAndCulture/D-CAF-A-Collision-of-Contemporary-Art-Architecture-In-Downtown-Cairo?ref=yfp

Reese Witherspoon Was Advised Not To Sing,Reese The following year,Early critical,New York recently Reese Witherspoon, Black Reese Witherspoon & Read more

2010-12-19T01:41:00.000-08:00

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon says she was advised early on in her career not to sing.
Witherspoon, 34, would famously go on, however, to win an Oscar for her portrayal of late country music star June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line," a film for which she also recorded her own vocals.
While talking to reporters in New York recently about her new romantic comedy "How Do You Know," the actress was asked what advice she received early in her career turned out to be right or wrong.

I really wanted to be a Broadway kid and so I went to all these camps in the Catskills and I had to sing and dance and act and I remember getting through to the singing coaching session at the end and I had my evaluation and they said, 'Whatever you do, don't sing,'" Witherspoon recalled during the press conference. I think that I told that story when I won an award for 'Walk the Line.' I was like, 'Thank God, I didn't listen,' but it was hard to get over that mental block because someone had told me, basically: 'You don't know how to do that. Don't do it.' So you have to be careful what you say to people."

Co-starring Jack Nicholson, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson, "How Do You Know" is in theaters now.

The following year, Witherspoon appeared in the critically acclaimed Election, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
2001 marked her career's turning point with the breakout role as "Elle Woods" in the box office hit Legally Blonde, and in 2002 she starred in Sweet Home Alabama, which became her biggest commercial film success to date. 2003 saw her return as lead actress and executive producer of Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. In 2005, Witherspoon received worldwide attention and praise for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, which earned her an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Witherspoon married actor and Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan Phillippe in 1999; they have two children, Ava and Deacon. The couple separated at the end of 2006 and divorced in October 2007. Witherspoon owns a production company, Type A Films, and she is actively involved in children's and women's advocacy organizations

Early life and education
Witherspoon was born at the former Southern Baptist Hospital (now the Ochsner Baptist Medical Center) in New Orleans, Louisiana, where her parents were living while her father was a student at Tulane University medical school. Her father, John Witherspoon, is a Georgia-born otolaryngologist who previously served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army reserves.[3][4] Her mother, Betty (née Reese), is from Harriman, Tennessee, has a Ph.D. in pediatric nursing, and works as a professor of nursing at Vanderbilt University
Acting career

Edit Early work (1990–1998)
In 1990, Witherspoon attended an open casting call for The Man in the Moon with some friends, intending to audition as a bit player. She was instead cast in the lead role of Dani Trant, a 14-year-old country girl who falls in love for the first time with her 17-year-old neighbor. Her performance was regarded as "memorably touching" by Variety magazine, and critic Roger Ebert commented, "Her first kiss is one of the most perfect little scenes I've ever seen in a movie

Early critical success (1999–2000)
In 1999, Witherspoon starred alongside Alessandro Nivola in the drama thriller Best Laid Plans; she played Lissa, a woman who schemes with her lover Nick to escape a small, dead-end town.In this same year, she co-starred with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe in the drama film Cruel Intentions, a modern take on the 18th-century French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Her performance as Annette Hargrove was praised by the San Francisco Chronicle: "Witherspoon is especially good in the least flashy role, and even when called upon to make a series of cute devilish faces, she pulls it off

Academy Award – winning director Alexander Payne praised her: "She's got that quality that men find attractive, while women would like to be her friend. But that's just the foundation. Nobody else is as funny or brings such charm to things. She can do anything. In spite of her successful performance, Witherspoon noted in an interview that she struggled to find work after completing the film, due to typecasting

Worldwide recognition (2001–2004)
2001 marked a significant turning point in Witherspoon's career, when she starred in the feature film Legally Blonde. She portrayed Elle Woods, a fashion merchandising major who decides to become a law student in order to follow her ex-boyfriend to Harvard University. Speaking about Woods' character, Witherspoon said "When I read Legally Blonde, I was like, 'She's from Beverly Hills, she's rich, she's in a sorority. She has a great boyfriend. Oh yeah, she gets dumped. Who cares? I still hate her.' So we had to make sure she was the kind of person you just can't hate."[18] Legally Blonde was a box office hit, grossing US$96 million domesticall

Meanwhile, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer concluded, "Witherspoon is a talented comedian who can perk up a scene just by marching in full of pep and drive and she powers this modest little comedy almost single-handedly.

For her work, Witherspoon garnered her second Golden Globe Best Actress nomination and an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance........

Mila Kunis-Ted & Mila Kunis Aren't a Match Yet.....

2010-12-15T00:42:00.000-08:00

Mila Kunis was reported to have signed on for Ted, a comedy movie by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But MTV News spoke directly with Kunis on Tuesday and she denied the report.

I found out about it from an email that a friend of mine sent me," Kunis told MTV News. "It's a script that I read that Seth is directing. I read it on and off for two years through different rewrites. It's a really great script.

If time permits and scheduling works out I'd love to do it," she continued.

The studio is in final negotiations with Mark Wahlberg to star as the grown man.

Kunis says she was getting shut-eye during the Golden Globe nominations announcement. Her latest film "Black Swan" is a contender for an award.
I was sleeping. I was comfy and warm in my bed until my phone started ringing like crazy. I woke up after the fourth phone call. I'm tired. I'm going to go take a nap. I'm excited. It's been a very fun, interesting, different morning, she says.

Now, she's doing press. Next, says the actress, I have to take my dogs to the vet. I haven't really thought about it and what I'm doing the rest of the day. I haven't had time to process any of it. It's crazy. You wake up and you're stuck on the phone for three hours. It's amazingly absurd.

The sexy actress locks lips with Portman in upcoming movie Black Swan, and is adamant she’d never get hot and heavy with any other woman.

Anytime you do any intimate scene on film, it’s going to be a little uncomfortable, whether it’s the same sex or the opposite sex, says Mila.
The great thing about this is that Natalie and I were actually lucky enough to be friends prior to production, which made it all a lot easier.

We just kind of got on with it and did it. Being friends before made it a lot easier.

Mila recently revealed she went on a junk food binge after months of strict dieting for Black Swan.
She has also played roles in film, such as Rachel Jansen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Mona Sax in Max Payne and Solara in The Book of Eli. In 2010, she won the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress at the 67th Venice International Film Festival for her performance as Lily in Black Swan.
My mom freaked out,she said. She was like,You have to promise me his isn’t going to affect you.’ I was like, ‘I promise it won’t, but it might take me a little time to be OK with having a little more fat on me.’

I could see why this industry is so f-d up,because … I would literally look at myself in the mirror and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I had no shape, no boobs, no ass all you saw was the bone. I was like, ‘This looks gross.

Jeff just knows how to have fun. He brings a levity to acting, a joy to it. That’s rare, believe it or not, she said.
Wilde - who was recently named Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian of 2010-has previously discussed what it’s like to work with Hugh Laurie on House.

Bangladesh V New Zealand Tigers is won

2010-10-17T11:43:00.000-07:00

Dhaka_ Oct 17 (celebrity-gossip100.blogspot.com) Tigers have won the fifth and final match by 3 runs to whitewash Kiwis 4-0 in the lowest ever ODI total defended by the hosts.

Bangladesh V New Zealand

Bangladesh took the last wicket with three balls remaining to secure 67 points in the International Cricket Council ICC ratings to stand alongside West Indies in the international one-day rankings.

The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium may have been operating at a fraction of its full capacity due to World Cup renovations, but another nail-biting victory to Bangladesh in the final ODI against New Zealand sparked rapturous celebrations in the Mirpur crowd as the home team stormed to a 4-0 whitewash, cricinfo.com reports

Bangladesh had been bowled out for just 174 by a spirited New Zealand attack that showed plenty fire in the first half of the dead rubber, but a catastrophic top-order collapse ensured that not even a trademark New Zealand fightback from the lower-order could restore some pride to an outfit that was thoroughly outplayed throughout the series.

The rot began with Brendon McCullum's wicket, when he top-edged a Rubel Hossain delivery that was far too wide to pull in the second over before Jesse Ryder capped what has been a torrid tour for him, playing all around one that kept low in Rubel's next over.

BJ Watling was then run out after Ross Taylor called for an ill-advised second run, and when Kane Williamson and Taylor himself were undone by two terrific deliveries in consecutive overs to leave New Zealand reeling at 20 for 5.

The visitors seemed headed towards their most humiliating defeat in what has already been a disheartening series for them. Bangladesh were on the attack, and nothing short of a gutsy lower-order fightback could prevent the hosts from inflicting an embarrassing defeat.

Grant Elliott and Daniel Vettori combined following Taylor's exit and set about quietly repairing the damage wreaked upon the New Zealand run chase with a partnership worth 86 runs. The pair battled through the initial tough period, taking few risks and picking up the singles on offer to keep the score moving along, albeit at a snail's pace.

The batsmen rode their luck early on too. Vettori offered a regulation chance off Mahmudullah but Junaid Siddique at slip made a hash of it, and Vettori was lucky to survive an excellent lbw shout off the same bowler in his next over. Elliott was also rapped on the pads by a Shakib Al Hasan delivery that was heading towards middle stump, but may have just been hit outside the line, which created enough doubt in the umpire's mind to rule not out.

The pair became more adventurous as they spent more time at the crease however, picking up the occasional boundary and hitting the gaps with ease as the field began to spread. Vettori even waltzed down the pitch to loft Abdur Razzak over long-on for six in the 26th over, but fell attempting to swing Shakib over midwicket soon after, as Shafiul Islam made good ground to take a fantastic diving catch.

New Zealand still required 69 to win with four wickets remaining when Vettori perished and Nathan McCullum's dismissal not long after made things even tougher for the visitors. Kyle Mills provided support for Elliott in a 26-run stand, but when Elliott departed for a determined 59 with 30 runs still to get, the game swung once more in Bangladesh's favour.

Mills wasn't about to give up without a fight however, as he set about shepherding the sole remaining tailender, Hamish Bennett, while slamming the Bangladesh bowlers to all parts during the batting Powerplay. He crashed boundaries down the ground and over cover in the final overs to set up a nerve-wracking finish. When eight runs were required from the very last over with Mill on strike, the match was poised for a thoroughly gripping finale.

Rubel Hossain bowled a full toss on the pads in his first delivery of the final over and Mills swung it around to the fine leg boundary to make it four needed from five. The match had ebbed and flowed throughout the chase and it seemed that New Zealand were once again in the ascendancy with Mills having plenty of deliveries to hit just one more boundary with the field restrictions in play.

Rubel made sure he had the last word however, following up the errant first ball with two terrific yorkers, the second of which took out Mills' leg stump, sparking a thunderous ovation from the Mirpur crowd.

The match had been set up by an excellent bowling performance from the New Zealand attack, who dismissed the hosts for 174 in 44.2 overs. New Zealand made early breakthroughs through Kyle Mills and Andy McKay before choking the runs in the middle period to trigger a lower-order collapse that left Bangladesh with a meagre total to defend.

Daniel Vettori was at his miserly best through the middle overs, giving away just 32 runs and claiming three wickets. His double-strike in consecutive overs to get rid of Raqibul Hasan and Imrul Kayes put the hosts firmly on the back foot at 77 for 4, before Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim came together for a 55-run stand that rescued the Bangladesh innings from an embarrassing collapse.

Allrounder Elliott dismissed both batsmen in quick succession however, and combined well with young fast bowler Hamish Bennett, in just his second game, to put together a parsimonious six-over patch where just five runs were scored for the loss of one wicket. Elliott's short spell effectively summed up New Zealand's tight bowling performance during the middle period - his four overs costing just seven runs and yielding two valuable wickets.

The Bangladesh lower-order failed to offer any sort of resistance, succumbing meekly to some intelligent bowling from the tourists and losing their last six wickets for just 42 runs. The modest total proved to be enough for the hosts however, who completed a whitewash that will be talked about in Bangladesh for years to come.
