Gone are the days when all we needed was a writing desk, small filing cabinet and a few envelopes and stamps. Many home owners now have separate home offices, outfitted with computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, scanners and more.

How is your home office doing? Do you have a clear desk, comfortable seating, good lighting and a place for everything? Or is it an overwhelming cluttered space, full of papers and unidentified objects? Home offices need not be disorganized, boring and sterile. Even an office situated in a basement with poor natural light can be transformed into a bright and cheerful environment with good lighting and decorative accessories.

Before you get started on improving your home office, it is important to identify all of the activities that take place in there. Are you simply paying a few bills, filing some statements and sorting mail? Or do you also like to use the space for your children to do homework, browsing on the internet, sorting photographs and wrapping gifts? If you are running a home-based business, it’s important that you try to keep it separate from your household office, even if it’s just in another area of the room.

For your home office to function properly it should be comfortable, with functional and ergonomic furniture. It should also be free of paper clutter. Invest in office organizing products to keep paper clutter at bay, so that you can enjoy your office, instead of fearing it! I have listed a few of the typical activities that take place in today’s home offices. If you also run a home business, it is imperative that you have the necessary office supplies and equipment to run your business efficiently. Use this as a guideline to help you to organize your space:

 Sorting Mail & Paying Bills: Purchase an organizer with slots, trays or cubbies to divide up bills, mail, envelopes, stamps and address labels. As soon as a bill comes in, place it into the appropriate slot immediately!
Tip: A mail organizer with a small drawer for stamps and small office supplies will keep your desktop neat.

 Accessing Office Supplies: Your everyday office supplies should be kept at arm’s length on your desk or in your desk drawers immediately!
Tip: Avoid messy drawers by purchasing compartmented junk drawer organizers.

 Checking Your Schedule: Place a monthly calendar on the wall so that you can quickly view upcoming events.
Tip: Use a magnetic dry erase message board to write brief notes and reminders.

 Dealing with Action Items: You might feel more comfortable keeping your action papers on your desk in a “neat” pile, for fear of losing or forgetting them. Unfortunately, papers left out can be easily misplaced or even accidently thrown away. There are many different options available for organizing your day-to-day papers, including desktop trays and step-up files. Consider your options and invest in organizing products that will work for you.
Tip: Spend a few minutes each day reviewing your action files on your desk.

 Filing Papers: A file cabinet is essential for storing important documents and statements. If you do not have a cabinet, consider purchasing a file crate or file box. Stackable file crates are convenient, affordable and take up minimal space. In addition, a fire-proof safe is recommended for important documents, such as birth certificates and passports etc.
Tip: Make copies of all important personal and household documents and store them either off-site or in another part of your home.

 Looking up Telephone Numbers: A manual or electronic rolodex is a handy tool for quickly accessing contact information.
Tip: Keep the local telephone directories handy in case you want to look something up quickly. They can be stored in magazine holders or on a durable letter tray near the phone.

 Handling School Papers: If you have school aged children, set up a system to handle all of their incoming and outgoing school papers. Try a portable hanging file holder, file crate, file cabinet or wall pockets.
Tip: Show your school aged children where they need to place their school papers each day.

 Using Technology: Identify the equipment you need for your home office. If you have space and budget constraints, but would like to have it all, consider purchasing a multifunction printer, with an integrated copier, scanner, fax machine and photo printing capabilities. You’ll save space, time and money.
Tip: Consider purchasing a fax/printer organizer with drawers and/or trays to hold paper and office supplies.

Finally, don’t be afraid to decorate your office! This is not a corporate office, so decorate it as you wish. Use color and accessories to liven up your space. This is your space, so make it one that you will love to be in!

About The Author

Jacquie Ross is a Maryland based Professional Organizer, writer, speaker and owner of CastAway the Clutter! I hope you like them. ;)

Lazy Summer Pasta

From: BBC Good Food

Ingredients

1 medium red onion , cut into wedges
2 courgettes , cut into chunks
3 garlic cloves , unpeeled
3 tbsp olive oil
250g punnet cherry tomatoes
40g fusilli or other short pasta
handful of basil leaves
freshly grated parmesan , to serve

Directions

Preheat the oven to fan 200C/conventional 220C/gas 7. Put the onion, courgettes and garlic into a large ovenproof dish. Slosh over the olive oil, season well and give everything a quick stir, then roast for 15 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes into the veg and continue roasting for 15 minutes more. At the same time, bring a large pan of salted water to the boil so the sauce and pasta will be finished at the same time.

Drop the pasta into the boiling water and cook according to pack instructions; about 9-12 minutes.

Drain the pasta. Take the vegetables out of the oven and pop the garlic cloves out of their skins. Mash the garlic against the side of the dish and stir through the vegetables. Tip in the pasta and toss everything together, tearing in some basil as you go. Pile into two bowls and serve with grated parmesan.

Roasted Potato and Green Bean Salad

From: Wired Berries.com

Serves 6

Ingredients

2 lbs. small red potatoes, halved or quartered
10 cloves garlic, peeled
4 Tablespoons olive oil
1 and 1/2 cups green beans, sliced into one-inch pieces

Dijon Vinaigrette

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon horseradish, drained
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup chopped parsley, for garnish

Directions

1. This information is included every time someone reprints your article.

The idea behind article marketing is that other website owners will reprint your article in exchange for keeping your bio and the link to your website intact. It’s a win-win situation for the article author and the publisher. The publisher gets great content, and you, the author, get more exposure for your website.

To be effective, your article needs to be highly informative and relevant to your target market. Give your readers the information they're looking for, otherwise you'll wasting everyone's time. Supply real answers to your market's burning questions – but don't give away all your tips and secrets! At the end of the article, you want to leave your reader wanting more so she'll gladly click the link in your bio to get it.

Article directories are a really good place to begin your article marketing campaign. Most directories have frequent visitors who are always looking for new, quality content. As well, the article directory owner will market her directory, and your articles along with it.

But, article marketing isn't limited to submitting articles to article directories. In fact, investing a little more energy and creativity in your article marketing can get you even better results.

Article Marketing Begins at Home. Your article marketing strategy should include publishing your articles on your own website for your visitors to find. New visitors will come back regularly if they know you consistently provide updated, useful content. With each visit, the chance that they will become customers increases. Sending out your new articles to your opt-in list is another form of article marketing.

Niche Directories. Instead of submitting your next article to all the article directories you can find, look for niche directories that would attract your target market. For example, if you write articles about parenting, submit them to directories that specialize in topics that are of interest to parents, like WAHM Articles. Doing this little bit of research will increase the likelihood of your target market finding and reading your articles.

Offer Exclusive Articles. When you find one of your articles reprinted on a site that's popular with your target market, contact the publisher and see if you could write an article for them that you wouldn't publish anywhere else. Most publishers love original content when they can get it, and will usually give your article prominent placement in return for writing an article just for their site.

Take it Offline. Article marketing isn't limited to online publishers. Look for local print publications that would appeal to your target market. Contact the publishers to see if they would like to publish one of your articles in return for including your by-line.

Don't limit yourself to just one form of article marketing for your home business. Every business and every target market is different. Try to combine a few of the above strategies to see what works best for yours.

About The Author

Denise Willms is a professional article writer who specializes in creating content for moms. But once you find your keywords, how can you keep track of them?

I keep track of my keywords in an Excel spreadsheet. Here are some of the things I track, to keep my keywords organized:

Date: This is the date that you found the keywords. If you’ve been researching keywords, you’ll notice that the things people search for change over time. So, you may not want to optimize an article for popular keywords you discovered last year, without checking to see that they’re still popular.

Keyword Phrase: In the next column, I put the keyword phrase that I found. Remember that you want to stay away from single words, and actually go with a meaningful phrase.

Popularity: This is the number of how many times that phrase has been searched for in the past month. Your keyword research tool will tell you that.

Competition: This is the number of how many other pages are competing for that keyword. Depending on which tool you’re using, you may have to do separate research to find out for yourself.

To find how much competition you have in Google, for example, do a search for the phrase with quotes around it. If I wanted to check the competition for people who are writing about dogs like mine, I would search for "curly cream schnoodle", just like that, with the quotes around it.

A note on popularity and competition: Your goal is to find keywords that are popular, but don’t have a lot of competition

Articles: Then I have several columns for the titles of articles I write using that keyword phrase. You could even include the dates you wrote and submitted each article. I use a different spreadsheet to track where and when each article has been published.

Denise Willms publishes work at home articles for moms at her article directory,WAHM-Articles.com. How can I get people to my forum? – NobodyLovesMe

Dear Nobody Loves Me,
Building a forum into a happenin’ place is a LOT of work. Don’t be discouraged if your efforts aren’t paying off yet. It does take time.

That being said, there are ways to boost your forum and keep boosting it, without having to spend a lot of money. Let me share one of my favorite ways to get traffic, writing articles.

You may not be familiar with article sharing. Basically, you write and share your articles with other websites and newsletters that need content. They publish your article with your author resource box (including your website URL). This helps both of you. The website publisher needs interesting, informative content and you need the exposure.

But, what does this have to do with building your forum? It can help you in two ways.

1. In your author bio, include a link directly to your forum so people that click through your link can sign up immediately and get chatting with the other members.

2. Or link to your website and have your forum prominently displayed on every page. The more incoming links you have pointing to your website content, the more important the search engines will think your site is – and you’ll get more natural traffic from google, msn, and yahoo.

So, how do you take advantage of this method of generating traffic? You can start today.

1. Choose a topic. You can even use your own forum posts for inspiration. If you’ve recently answered questions in a post on your forum about any topic, turn it into an article. (Of course you may only use the materials you yourself have written and any and all names should be changed.)

2. Include your Author Resource box. Make sure to think about this part a lot. Many people just skim over it and, frankly, have useless resource boxes. What do you offer to the visitors? Do you have a free incentive for joining? Think this one through. Make it enticing.

3. Submit your Articles. Find article directories where you can share your articles.

4. No banners. Thanks!

4) Absolutely no spamming other members with PM's about your advertisements.

5) You must introduce yourself before posting any ads in the ad section of the forum.

Does any of this sound familiar? It should if you're accustomed to reading and following rules on a forum.

I'm surprised at just how many people come onto a business message board and instantly click themselves in the "post your opportunity" section, spam their ad, and then leave. What are those forum spammers proving to others by doing this? Where does this get them?

Part of being a respectable member of work at home forums is to consistently read the posting rules. Failure to do this can and most probably will jeopardize your forum account.

The above consequence doesn't seem to matter to quite a few members. Reading the rules of any forum you join is the very first thing you must do BEFORE making your first post, and also your first step toward properly networking with others. It only takes a few short minutes of your time and will substantially benefit you and your business. Business forums are created for business networking, not for spamming.

What exactly is the meaning of "business networking?"

Business networking is building relationships with other business owners and sharing thoughts and ideas, and getting to know one another. It means rationally conversing with others, discussing marketing ideas and techniques, lending support, and consistently adding something of value to the community. Share ideas, ask questions, and consequently gain the trust of the members. And as a result, you will be viewed and looked upon as a competent business individual.

That type of reputation is what it truly takes to make or break the sales, not one who is there just to spam their ads.

Now you should be able to easily answer this question. When joining your next work at home forum, are you joining to spam or network?

Article Written By Tammy Embrich

Tammy offers work at home articles, free work at home job leads, and other business resources on her Work At Home Forums.

12 Steps to using a Forum or Message Board properly

By: Connie Violette

So you’ve been looking around the internet and discovered forums. You want to join in but it’s kind of intimidating. Maybe you’ve started an online business or offline business and you want to promote it. You’ve heard that forums are a great way to promote your business but you want to make sure you’re doing it right.

There really is such a thing as “forum etiquette”. If you don’t know what to do, you could easily find yourself banned from one of the best places online. So how do you make sure you are behaving yourself?

Step one: Understand how forums work. Typically they are set up with various “boards”. Each “board” has a purpose. Look around and familiarize yourself with how the forum is structured.

Step two: Take time to read and get a feel for how the forum is ran. If you are hoping to use a signature line, look at other posters and see if they have signature lines and if those signatures are promotional or just for fun. Get an idea of who is who on the board. Most boards have moderators. You don’t want to annoy these people.

Step three: Read the rules. Some forums have rules that encompass the entire forum and others have rules for each board.

Step four: Now that you understand the forum, join and get a membership if you haven’t already.

Step five: Introduce yourself. While most forums are happy to have you there, it’s nice to know who we are talking to, why you are there and what you hope to accomplish. This makes it easier for the existing forum members to help you.

Step six: Start posting. This is the most important rule regardless of who you are or why you are there. You can’t get answers if you don’t ask questions. Your business won’t be noticed if you don’t post and make yourself an authority.

Step seven: Follow up. If you are there solely for self promotion, you will quickly find yourself banned or your posts just deleted. If you are there to promote your business, check back each day to answer questions from other members. There is little that is more annoying than someone asking a question or making a statement and then not following up. Check back daily.

Step eight: Try not to send private messages to the owner/admin. They created the forum so you would have a place to ask your questions and get answers. While they really want to help, they are very busy making sure everything works the way you expect it to work.

Step Nine: Do NOT spam the other members. It does not matter if someone asks for a business opportunity. If the rules state you are not allowed to promote your business do not do it. This includes saying things like “see my signature” or sending them a private message. There are boards that allow advertising. Use them.

Step Ten: DO NOT become a hit and run poster. This is the surest way to build a bad reputation and get banned. If you want to promote yourself, take the time to become an active member and participate in the forum. The forum was not built so you would have a place to advertise.

Step Eleven: DO NOT become a “one-liner”. These are people who pretend to participate by answering numerous questions. All with the same phrase or a few different one line phrases.

Step Twelve: Have fun. Get to know the rest of the community and help the forum owner by passing along to others what a great forum it is. If you are enjoying it and learning from it why not share.

Connie Violette invites you to visit www.katieshugs.com website dedicated to free and honest work at home ideas, paid surveys and mystery shopping links. Working at home certainly has it's advantages. But have you really thought about the frustrations that go along with that territory? And believe me, they do exist.

Let's discuss some of them...the "worse" side of working from home

1. Balancing Work and Family

This by far is the number one factor for many that have small children at home. Many people think that by working from home, they will have much more time to spend with their children. But sadly...too often, it's simply not the case. It really depends on what type of home position or home business you have and your children's ages and needs. Before deciding on what type of job or business you enquire, you need to take this into consideration and work up a schedule that will work for both you and your family household.

2. Taking You Seriously

I've witnessed others experiencing this common problem and it's also one that I have struggled with and still do from time to time. Does your family and friends think that since you "work at home" you can stop everything at once and come to their rescue, go shopping, run errands for them, take a day off, go for lunch, and so forth? Don't get me wrong...at times there are real emergency circumstances that arise that will need your attention, and that should be a priority. But generally speaking, it's crucial to your business to explain your duties to your family and friends and make them understand that your job is just like any other job and it requires devoting so many hours each day for you to make money. Simply put...if you don't put in your required hours, you don't get paid.

3. Make Easy Money At Home

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this concept doesn't exist. If you're searching for a work at home job, and also thinking you'll be living on "easy street" once you've found that job...think again! Being a work at home professional is not all a bed of roses, and most importantly, NOT always as easy as you'd think OR like it to be. It takes a considerable amount of hard work and consistency.

Oh...Did you think you could set it and forget it? Wrong! For you to be successful, and especially for a home business...you need to work hard at it. I know all too well and learned from experience. Hard work, motivation, and consistency is what will make or break your success. And it certainly won't happen overnight. It will take time, so patience is the key.

4. Isolation Blues

Personally, this has been my number one disadvantage of my business. There's no question about it, if you spend most of your time at home in one room with no connection with other people, eventually at some point in time, you will most likely feel alone and isolated. It is normal to experience this as you wouldn't be in a workplace environment. Face it, it gets a little lonely when there's nobody to talk with or to share ideas, or to discuss your problems with...business or personal.

Solution

Get to know and converse with members of the forums you are a member of. Get to know others as you network with them.

Join chat groups that are relevant to your niche

Call up an online friend and just chat

If you own a laptop and your lifestyle and specific job will allow it, go to the park or a coffee house and work

Try and schedule a dinner appointment at least once a week with an old friend

Try and make some kind of human connection on a daily basis

The "better" side of working at home

You are your own boss. You can dictate your own schedule and come and go as you please

You can take time off whenever you feel like it

You can be at home when your children get home from school

You will most definitely save on gas, as you don't have to commute back and forth to work

You don't have to get dressed for work. In fact, you can stay in your sleep wear all day if you want to

You get to choose what type of work you do at home. You can turn your hobby into a business if desired

You will have tax benefits. When you run a business in your home, you have a great deal of tax advantages. You will be able to write off itemized things for your business

Working from your home can be a wonderful thing. But there are various things to take into consideration such as what I've mentioned above. You will need to carefully weigh the pros and cons and come to an informed decision if a work at home lifestyle is right for you. Personally for me, I wouldn't trade my business at home for anything. The advantages far exceed the disadvantages and I'm happy and contented with what I do.

Article Written By Tammy Embrich

You can find other work at home articles by Tammy at Work At Home Articles.

Tammy also offers free work at home job leads, work at home articles, business tips, and other work at home resources. Can anyone tell me how to get started?”

Starting a Virtual Assistant (VA) business is an appealing option for moms who want to develop their careers while being home with their kids. It’s one of the most flexible home businesses you can own, and it can change and develop as your skills grow.

First of all, there’s flexibility in the kind of work you can do as a Virtual Assistant. Traditionally, VAs did only administrative work. Although many Virtual Assistants still offer administrative services, today’s VA can be a writer, web designer, marketer, programmer, public relations specialist, coach – you’re limited only by your imagination!

Unlike a corporate job where the work you do is defined by the title of your position, a VA can continually develop their skills, and can tackle any project that appeals to their talents or interests. As your skills grow, you can ditch the work you don’t like, and pursue new types of projects – no more being stuck in a rut and hoping for that promotion or a new job to rescue you.

There’s also a lot of flexibility in how much money a VA can earn. While most charge around $35 an hour, rates for specialized services can run over $100 per hour. When you’re a VA, how much you make is not dictated to you by a faceless Human Resources department, but decided on by you. You choose what you want to earn, so long as it’s in line with what your target market will pay.

To earn the dollars you want, or need, start by choosing a target market that is willing to pay what you charge, and then offer the services they need most. You can add to your income by selling affiliate products, creating and selling your own product, or by creating a membership site. A good combination of these can give you limitless earning potential.

Moms who want to become Virtual Assistants are usually looking for flexibility in their working hours, too. It’s wise to set regular office hours to help you keep control over your day and so your clients know not to call you during the supper hour, but these hours don’t need to be set in stone. You can shut the office down whenever you need to, and take the kids to the dentist or the zoo.

When you’re a VA, you can also choose the kinds of clients you work for. You don’t need to work with someone whose style doesn’t mesh with your own. Instead, you can interview potential clients and choose only those you will enjoy working with.

After all, the joy of being a Virtual Assistant comes from being able to make your own decisions and choosing your own path.

Click HERE for a tool that can help you get your virtual assistant business started faster than you thought possible.

Salmon Mushroom Cheese Casserole

Ingredients

14 oz. can salmon w/liquid
4-oz. can mushrooms, drained
1 1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. minced onion

Directions

Flake salmon in bowl, removing bones. It's unfortunate that a significant number of individuals have lost their brick and mortar jobs and are in desperate need of some income. Some of these job seekers are steadily searching for their ideal job online.

Sadly, I see people everyday go about searching for a home job the wrong way. Basically, they simply don't know WHERE to search and end up looking in the wrong places. Well of course, this puts them more at risk of getting scammed. Also...they go about searching with the wrong attitude or they are searching for only one type of job and are set on finding that specific job and nothing else. One needs to realize...there are various work at home options available.

I have put together some helpful do's and don'ts when searching for an online job. Take your time in reading through them.

Do take the time to create a professional, well-written resume, including a cover letter. A legitimate company will require this from you. You will need to proportion your resume for the specific job you are searching for.

Below are some helpful sites for creating a resume...

quintcareers.com/resume-dos-donts.html
resume-resource.com/ - offers free resume templates, guides, and more
jobsearchtech.about.com/library/weekly/aa082597-3.htm - lots of free and inexpensive resume sites
tbrnet.com/resumes/resume-examples-and-formats.php3 - offers a free trial account

Do keep submitting your resume and applying consistently. It may take several times before you land a job. You need to be patient and submit to a LOT more than just a handful of companies.

Do make a chart of the job companies that you have submitted your resume to, including the date. This will come in handy and won't result with you double submitting.

Do take breaks from your time on searching. If you devote ALL your energy on job searches, you'll get stressed out, frustrated, and most likely give up.

Do visit job boards regularly.

Below are a few job boards for your searches...

careerbuilder.com/
indeed.com/
genuinejobs.com/
ratracerebellion.com/
careerbank.com/

Do visit work at home forums regularly. Set up an account on these forums and ask questions about specific companies and find out some of the well-known scams out there.

Below are a few forums for your searches...

real-wah-jobs.com/forum/
worldwideworkathome.com/forum/
wahm.com/forum/
wahcheck.com/forum/default.aspx
freelancemom.com/forum/index.php

Do visit work at home related websites

Do visit work at home blogs. Blogs have become progressively popular and a lot of them list job leads regularly.

Do tell all your friends to spread the word that you are searching for a job online. These friends will tell their friends and so on.

Do your own research on the companies that you would like to apply. It's so easy these days to fall for all the scams that clutter the Internet.

Now for the Don'ts

Don't approach your work at home search with a bad attitude and think that all job opportunities are scams. There are legitimate positions to be found.

Don't set your mind on just one type of job. Be open-minded and explore all your options, according to your skill sets.

Don't apply for a job online before researching the company first to check for scams.

Below are a few sites for searching for scam companies

bbb.org/
ftc.gov/
ripoffreport.com/
scambusters.org/

You can also type the company name into Google.com and the word scam to find any bad reports.

Don't pay for a work at home job. Of course there are a few exceptions to this. For a customer service position, you will most likely be required to purchase a head set. For transcription work, you will need a foot pedal. A company may also require a background check from you.

Don't be afraid to ask for assistance with your search. Forums are excellent for asking questions. Create a career-networking relationship with the members of the forum.

Don't let the poor economic conditions of society stop you from consistently applying for jobs.

Don't quit your brick and mortar job before securing a work at home position that matches your income.

Hopefully, the above tips will assist in securing a legitimate home-based opportunity. Happy job hunting!

Article Written By Tammy Embrich

Tammy owns and operates two work at home websites, a work at home forum, a recipe site and three blogs.

She offers free work at home job leads for the job seeker, business work at home articles, tips, and more. Long commutes and office politics can cause burnout and leave you wondering if there's a better way. If you're tired of going to work each day and want a way to make money that offers amazing flexibility, then a career doing data entry from home may be for you.

Data entry jobs often entail the entry of various types of information via computer and at times, management of this information. Some other names you may hear for online data entry workers are online home typists, online word processors, information processing specialists and online transcribers.

Data entry from home may include the preparation of correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, lists, records and databases. At times, the work can become tedious and time-consuming. But if you're a good typist can accurately capture and record information in a time efficient manner, data entry from home may be a good choice for you.

The data entry jobs that offer the option of working from home often also offer flexible scheduling. It's likely that you will be able to work when you want, as little or as much as you want.

Below are profiles of some of the most popular jobs available for those who wish to do data entry from home.

Medical and Legal Transcription: Medical and/or legal transcription requires the entry of information as heard on an audio file. Basically, you will listen to a recording and type everything that you hear. There is specialized equipment available such as headphones and even foot pedals that can slow down or speed up what you're listening to, as well as training courses that can teach and certify you in these types of data entry jobs.

Medical Coding: Medical coding is another data entry from home job that you can do. Medical coders ensure the proper entry and management of sensitive medical data. There are correspondence courses that can teach you how to do this from home.

Litigation Coding: A growing category in data entry jobs, litigation coding involves the capture of information from scanned documents to assist legal professionals in not only storing their documents electronically but locating the documents using accurate search criteria.

Although the money you make doing data entry from home may fluctuate depending on factors such as the availability of work and how much work you perform, people doing online data entry jobs can make up to $60,000 per year. As stated before, this figure can vary widely based on a number of variables.

The first thing to do when considering doing data entry from home is research. Simply by performing an online search, you can find more information on data entry jobs and the companies that hire employees to work from home. It's also a good idea to search the BBB (Better Business Bureau) to make sure any company you are considering working for is legitimate and scam-free.

About the Author

John Lee is owner and publisher of the acclaimed
work from home website Data Entry Jobs.
A free online resource of available Data Entry Jobs.
Data Entry Jobs.

Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/.

Three Easy-to-Start Work at Home Business Ideas for Work at Home Moms

By Denise Willms

Whether you want to start a work at home business to add to your family's income or to break away from the daily grind of your current job, you have many options for becoming a work at home mom. Below you'll find three easy-to-start work at home business ideas, and some simple techniques you can use to generate your first sales

Affiliate Marketing

An easy business for work at home moms to start is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you earn money by promoting other people's products. You're not responsible for the delivery of a product, or for the customer service. You earn money simply by referring people to a product. When people buy the product through your link, you earn a commission.

You don't need a website to be an affiliate marketer, but you will need an Internet presence with something like a blog or a Squidoo lens. The best way to become a successful affiliate marketer is to build an email list. Then you can keep your list informed of new products they would be interested in.

Service Provider

If you are skilled in providing a certain service, you might want to offer this service to clients. You could be a web designer, graphic designer, writer, virtual assistant, event planner… anything you are good at and would enjoy doing for others. You will also need a way to provide this service from a home office.

Blogging

You can earn money as a work at home mom by setting up a blog and blogging about a topic you know a lot about and are interested in. You should do some research beforehand to be sure others are interested in this topic as well. You can earn an income by putting AdSense ads on your blog, offering affiliate products, and doing paid reviews.

The Easiest Way to Market Your Work at Home Business

Whichever work at home mom business you decide is right for you, you will need a way to tell others about it. One of the easiest ways to spread the word about your new home business is by writing and submitting articles.

Simply write articles that educate your target market about how your product or service can help them, then distribute them across the Internet. Be sure to include a link to your website or blog in your resource box so your readers can visit you to learn more about your business.

If you choose your business wisely, and spend time marketing it every day, you can become a successful work at home mom too.

About The Author

Denise Willms is the owner of WAHM-Articles.com, a directory of free articles for work at home moms. Despite this, quite a few business owners have been using this free method to give their companies a huge boost without spending a penny.

Let’s look at a few ways article marketing can help increase your business.

Online Reputation. Even if your business is a real world one, such as a coffee shop, establishing an online presence is vital. All businesses need a website now and to ensure that yours isn’t just one of millions of unknown websites stuck in the corner, you can use article marketing to break into the public eye.

Expert Status. While this is related to online reputation, YOU are the expert, not your business. When you have promoted yourself as an expert, whether it be in the world of taxes or shoe sales, you can take this fame and turn it toward any business you choose to start up, as well as your existing one.

Traffic. Article marketing will help your sales go up, if you have great website copy that convert. The higher the number of visitors to your website, the better the chances that you will make a sale. Article marketing promotes your business far and wide, when done correctly and you’ll see more traffic as a result, usually quite quickly.

Search Engine Optimization. A benefit of using the more popular article directories and sites where you can submit business articles is that they usually boast a high PageRank. This means that effective use of keywords in article marketing will result in your articles appearing in the top search results, with a link back to your site. In addition, your backlinks will go up each time the article is published, either on the article directory site or on someone’s website.

Education. Informed clients equal clients who know what they are looking for in a service or product. When you’re the one offering what they need, it’s quite likely you’ll be getting a boost in sales. You’ll also build client trust, as you are the provider of free, useful information that they can use. Trust is essential when you are trying to grow a business.

Article marketing is something that every business could and should be using. It’s completely cost free and requires little more than time to accomplish, yet the results are amazing.

About The Author

What are you waiting for? But there is one difference over the years...unfortunately, these scammers have grown much wiser at scamming the average home job seeker. These same desperate searchers keep falling for these scams time and time again and of course, this only sets them up for even MORE fear of being scammed. And sadly, it all makes perfect sense that they end up giving up.

What most people don't know...there is a solution to this. You can prevent yourself from being the fallen victim of a deceitful Internet scam! The secret is knowing exactly what to look out for when conducting a search for a legitimate work at home job.

Below are the three basic factors to look for in the legitimacy of an online company

1) Does the company provide contact information?

Contact with the employer is the most important. If you're going to work for an employer, of course you will need to easily communicate with that person. Same as an offline job...you need communication. A legitimate company will always provide a real working phone number and/or a email address.

2) Does the company explain in detail exactly what you will be doing?

If the company is vague about what you will be doing and also states that you will easily earn X amount of dollars in a very short time, then you can bet it's a scam. If you see this on a company website, don't read any further...move onto the next job lead.

3) Does the company ask for start up fees or registration fees?

You should never have to pay for a work at home job. A legitimate company will not require start up or registration fees from you. The only fees that may be required from you is from a background check, headset (usually for customer support work), or a foot pedal (for transcription work). Sometimes you will find a company that will pay for all equipment needed to complete the job duties. But, if a company requires fees other than for stated above, then they are a scam. Don't waste your money and fall for these schemes.

By following the above tips, hopefully your job search will be considerably less difficult and more importantly...you won't be scammed from your efforts.

One Last Tip: If the job sounds "too good to be true," than it most likely is.
For example: If the company states you will have guaranteed earnings of $25 per hour or more, I'd be skeptical of such a statement, and I would be sure to contact the employer directly to back this up. Always follow your gut instincts.

Much success to you with your work at home job search!

Article Written By Tammy Embrich

You can find more articles by Tammy by visiting Work At Home Jobs

Tammy also offers free work at home job leads, free business tips, work at home articles, and more work at home resources at Work At Home Forums

Easter Cupcakes

Ingredients

(for basic cake recipe-about 12 cupcakes)

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup self rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbs milk
2 large eggs
12 Easter-themed cupcake liners
frosting
food coloring
sprinkles
cupcake or muffin pan
small chocolate bunnies

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. I also see my friends and forum owners state that the other social media...Facebook and MySpace are quite effective as well.

So...what is this doing to forum marketing?

Message board posting has resulted in some amazing success in the past and continues to do so. But I have seen first hand that some of the forums have indeed experienced a slow decline in activity. I also have seen forum members that have actually made the statement that the social networks are slowly taking over.

I personally feel that forum networking will continue to be an effective way to market your business but...it will take some hard work and consistency. And it is true...as a forum owner myself and from personal experience, the social networks are proving to be some controversial competition these days.

However, networking on forums will certainly NOT be effective if the member participates in the following manner.

* Sign up on a forum and immediately start making posts without making an introduction post

* Spam the boards with ads and leave

* Spam the members with ads via private message

* Don't participate in discussions and get to know the other members

* Continually answer numerous posts with just one word or two and not contribute any good-quality information. For example: Great post or I agree.

* Includes their website or affiliate links in their posts when not allowed to

* Ignore all community rules

* Make posts with foul language or posts with offensive content

I just don't get how some people believe that the above examples will yield them sales or website traffic. In fact...doing these very things in most cases, will get their account deleted and banned. Do they not realize this?

I do believe in not putting all your eggs into just one basket...meaning don't just use one form of advertising. Using the many promotion resources given to you and utilizing them properly will give you the desired results.

I was just reading on one of the forums and found this quote: "The forum market is pretty much over-saturated." I know this topic will and can be controversial...people have distinct opinions and they are entitled to have them.

So what is your opinion? Do you think forum marketing is on it's way out? Many of us have. Well...nothing can be further than the truth!

Showcasing your knowledge, personality, and voice in your articles is your ultimate foundation of your business. That's quite a bold statement there, don't you think? Well, think about it...when you're article marketing, you are representing your respective industry with informative content and establishing yourself as an expert. You are also preselling your products or services.

If you own any kind of online business or you offer a service...article marketing is an excellent, (if not the best) promotion tool that you can utilize for your success. You will find it beneficial on so many levels. It gives you the chance to let your voice be heard as well as reach your target audience and overtime...generates good quality website traffic. It results in backlinks, it helps your website's search engine placement, and also improves your over-all site page rank.

So...you have done the work and research and have written articles relating to your business. Well, the next step is WHERE to submit them?

The best place to promote your articles is in directories...they are in big demand and new ones are being created everyday. There are some established directories I'd like to share with you.

Be sure and visit these top 10 article directories

ezinearticles.com
wahm-articles.com
goarticles.com
greatarticlesformoms.com
article-buzz.com
isnare.com
workathomearticles.net
articlesphere.com
articledashboard.com
waharticles.com

There are other excellent places to submit your words of knowledge. There are many message forums that will allow you to post your articles. Ezines and newsletters are ideal as well...especially if they have a large membership base. You can also get in touch with other webmasters and see if they would be willing to exchange articles with you. Most often webmasters will find this invaluable to their readers.

If you haven't been promoting your business with articles...my suggestion is to start. All it takes is proper sentence structure, some research, and some knowledge about what you are marketing. Is article marketing a get-rich-quick strategy? Of course not! But, if done properly and consistently, you will be extremely pleased with the results.

Hope to see you at the directories!

Article Written By Tammy Embrich

Tammy owns and operates two work at home websites, a work at home forum, a recipe site and three blogs.

She offers free work at home job leads for the job seeker, business work at home articles, tips, and more. Perhaps Google did a little algorithm change that caused the site to lose ranking and therefore visitors, or perhaps it's pure neglect. Don't worry - it happens to the best of us! We get busy and distracted with multiple projects or sites, and it's hard to keep all the plates spinning. If this ever happens to you, don't fret. You can turn things around rather quickly, especially if the site is already well established. Here are some of the things you can do to resurrect a dead website.

Launch a blog

If you haven't heard already, search engines love blogs. The frequently updated content is also interesting to human visitors, too. Have a blog installed on the domain and start blogging with regularity. If you can do so, throw a little money at the problem and hire a ghostwriter to write quick blog posts for you. This is more cost effective than hiring writers to create entire articles. You can send the ghostwriters lists of keywords to write about so they can quickly come up with content. Of course, doing some keyword research first is a good idea. Once your ghostwriters send you their work, you can then expand on what they wrote. This will enable you to add a lot of content to the blog very quickly.

Write articles

Write several new articles to direct traffic to the site. You can use some of the ghostwritten content you used for the blog posts if you like. Then, submit these to article directories and sites like iSnare for distribution. Where appropriate, publish the articles on another site you own. You can also write different versions of the article for use as guest blog posts for others.

Get more incoming links

You can do this in a number of ways. You can pay for incoming links. Contact people who have websites in your niche and offer to pay them for text links. This can be fairly inexpensive. Writing articles will also get you more links. It also helps to go through your site and make sure your site has good internal navigation, meaning your pages are linked to other appropriate pages inside the site itself.

Google alerts

Sign up for Google alerts in the keyword(s) you want to rank for for this particular site. This accomplishes a couple of things. Each day (or week) you are sent an email telling you where bloggers are talking about this keyword phrase, so you can check out their blog and leave a comment if you can add something useful to the conversation, linking to your site. You also get ideas for new topics because you can see what’s going on in the news in your niche.

Twitter

After adding a new page to the site, tell your Twitter followers about it. If you have a particular page you really want to send traffic to, ask your friends to "Retweet" your update.

I have a confession to make. I recently had the experience I talked about above - letting one of my highest earning sites go neglected. I’m pleased to say that after applying the suggestions above, the traffic in the first month increased by 80%, with a corresponding increase in income too. Of course, these very same tips would work not only to resurrect a dying site, but also for growing traffic to an established site or a brand new one!

About The Author

Carrie Lauth is a work at home mom who created the Natural Mom Business Guide - the internet's only complete how to tutorial for women who want to start an online business marketing to green minded families. Combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, cocoa and salt; add to milk mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and remaining sugar; set aside. Place water and 3-1/2 cups raspberries in a blender; cover and process for 2-3 minutes or until pureed.

Strain puree into cornstarch mixture and discard seeds. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Transfer to a small bowl; refrigerate until chilled.

Coat an 8-in. nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat. Stir crepe batter; pour a scant 3 tablespoons into center of skillet. Lift and tilt pan to coat bottom evenly. Cook until top appears dry; turn and cook 15-20 seconds longer. Remove to a wire rack.

Repeat with remaining batter, coating skillet with cooking spray as needed. When cool, stack crepes with waxed paper or paper towels in between.

To serve, spoon a scant 3 tablespoons sauce over each crepe; roll up. Top each with 1tablespoon whipped cream. Garnish with remaining raspberries and sprinkle.

Chocolate Coconut Candies

Ingredients

1-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1-3/4 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the confectioners' sugar, coconut, almonds and milk. Shape into 1-in. balls. Refrigerate until firm, about 20 minutes.

In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Dip balls in chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 2-1/2 dozen.

Raspberry Swirl Frozen Dessert

Ingredients

2/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons butter, melted
5 teaspoons sugar
FILLING:
3 eggs, separated
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon water, divided
1 cup sugar, divided
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1-1/2 cups reduced-fat whipped topping
1 package (10 ounces) frozen sweetened raspberries, thawed

Directions

In a small bowl, combine the cracker crumbs, butter and sugar. Press into an 11-in. x 7-in. dish coated with cooking spray. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, for filling, in a small heavy saucepan, combine the egg yolks, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar and salt. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture reaches 160° or is thick enough to coat the back of a metal spoon. Cool quickly by placing pan in a bowl of ice water; stir for 2 minutes. Set aside.

In a small heavy saucepan over low heat, combine the egg whites, cream of tartar and remaining water and sugar. With a portable mixer, beat on low speed until mixture reaches 160°. Transfer to a small mixing bowl; beat on high until soft peaks form.

In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in egg yolk mixture. Fold in whipped topping, then egg white mixture. Drain raspberries, reserving 3 tablespoons juice. In a small bowl, crush half of berries with 1 tablespoon juice. Set remaining berries and juice aside.

Spread a third of cream cheese mixture over crust; spoon half of crushed berry mixture over the top. Repeat layers. Cut through with a knife to swirl raspberries.

Top with remaining cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle with reserved berries and drizzle with remaining juice. Cover and freeze for 5 hours or until firm. Remove from the freezer 15 minutes before cutting. Yield: 12 servings.

Enjoy! =)

Using the 3 Foot Rule to Market Your Home Based Business.

By: Roger Moody

Since you are reading this I will assume that you are researching marketing techniques. Quite possibly you are involved in a home based business. If you are in the industry and you haven't heard of the three foot rule I'm pretty sure you've been living under a rock.

One of the oldest marketing techniques, the three foot rule is also one of the most talked about methods of marketing a home based business that there. Incase you do not know it pretty much goes like this: you talk to anyone who comes within three feet of you about your business.

It does not matter if you're at the grocery store, in a restaurant, on an elevator everyone you come in contact with needs an invitation to hear about your home based business.

The three foot rule is often talked about but I doubt many people actually do. Seriously, would you really join a business if someone approached you at the checkout aisle and started asking you if you wanted to change your life? Probably not. Also, if the three foot rule were widely used then I would assume that someone, somewhere at some time would have approached me and it's never happened.

The truth behind the idea is if you talk to enough people surely some of them will be interested in what you're doing and sign up. However, it rarely works out that way when approaching total strangers and while you're spending all your time talking to strangers and most likely embarrassing yourself you'll probably just get discouraged and quit.

As you might guess, I am not a big fan of the three foot rule and have never personally used it. So how do I get tons of people to talk to about my home business? I advertise on the internet for free! No I don't spend money on pay per click (that can really eat away at your budget if you're not careful!) or buy huge lists of leads to dump into an auto responder (been there done that too).

I get targeted traffic to my website every single day by doing a few simple things like marketing on forums, blogging, and free classified sites like Craigslist or Backpage. I also use social networking and article marketing sites and guess what? People are actually calling me instead of me calling them, business has never been easier!

So get into the 21st century and ditch the 3 foot rule! I know that once you see just how great internet marketing is you'll never bug another person in the produce section again!

www.RogerLMoody.com

Article Source: http://www.wahm-articles.com
