Cupcakes for my loves

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!!! Pretty much rules my TV right now, thanks to my 3 year old. She is absolutely OBSESSED with Minnie Mouse! So when it came to her 3rd birthday I knew exactly what I was going to do! I did coconut cupcakes with a whipped pink frosting covered with coconut. The bow is fondant, and Mouse ears are black melting chocolate rounds.

My baby sister turned the big 1-8 !!! So I made her a BIG giant gourmet cupcake to celebrate! The cupcake "wrapper" is done out of melting chocolate. Inside is a double vanilla chocolate chip cake. topped with chocolate ganache, vanilla butter cream, cookie crumbles, Drizzled with ganache, and finally, adorned with a full size chocolate chip cookie! Let me tell you it smelled DIVINE mmmm!

Yummm! And just in case you were wondering....... yes this can be done in virtually ANY flavor combination!! So dangerous!!

On this we are surely on different planets lol. SO we went to Jean Phillipe at located at the Aria hotel. Top left is a Snickers cake, top right, raspberry rose macaroon filled with pastry cream. How'd you arrive at that number???

2012-01-03T15:09:00.000-08:00

"WOW!!! How come it cost that much......it's just cake!?"

I came across this beautifully worded article and thought I would share. Now I have some wonderful friends/clients who know I try and give the best pricing possible!! Most of the time.....more than I should. BUT there is always the "few" that don't think cake is quite worth "that' price. At times a little discouraging because of the amount of time and supplies it takes just to make the raw cake and icing.....let alone hand molded gum paste works of art!!

There is so much more that goes into this edible form of art than just flour and icing...... hours of back breaking work (just ask the hubby hehehe) and lots of love!

Hope you enjoy Stacey's blog post as much as I did :)

Stacey's Sweet Shop - Truly Custom Cakery, LLC: How'd you arrive at that number?
