Alright, so first off I gotta say I'm not one to break rules but I only read a handful of blogs and I'm kind of a boring person. I love and enjoy reading Frugal Home and Health, Rachelle's Place, La Famille and Crystals. These kindred spirits bring so much to the plate. Rather its recipes, inspiration, or crafts, it all comes from the heart. And you can read it in there words.

As a child of God, I'm a wife and mother of two who believes in the fullness and life with Christ and our Heavenly Father. I'm delighted to serve others. I love life and learning as days go by. The picture Grace by Enstrom is my favorite because I look at the picture and see the bread lying there and think " This food only gives a temporary filling for our bodies. We live and we die. But with believing, prayer, and humbleness we will have life eternally with our Father and Christ." This picture sits in my living room as a daily reminder.

Brothers and sisters remember God's word. Our Father love's you and knows you. He makes no mistakes. He's always ready to listen and receive each and everyone of us.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the BREAD OF LIFE: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Our Lives, Our Fortunes, Our Sacred Honor

The future of liberty depends on reclaiming America's first principles, and The Heritage Foundation is leading the call to awaken our country and get it back on course. Right now you can get a free pocket-sized Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Rush Limbaugh shared a wonderful speech from his father on his website called The Americans Who Risked Everything and the Declaration. At the end he wrote:

My friends, I know you have a copy of the Declaration of Independence somewhere around the house - in an old history book (newer ones may well omit it), an encyclopedia, or one of those artificially aged "parchments" we all got in school years ago. I suggest that each of you take the time this month to read through the text of the Declaration, one of the most noble and beautiful political documents in human history.

There is no more profound sentence than this: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness..."

These are far more than mere poetic words. The underlying ideas that infuse every sentence of this treatise have sustained this nation for more than two centuries. They were forged in the crucible of great sacrifice. They are living words that spring from and satisfy the deepest cries for liberty in the human spirit.

Are You Too Scared To Eat?

Do you like scary movies? I normally stay far....far away from the scary stuff as possible.The other night however, I found myself in front of my computer with Legend, watching the scariest movie I've seen in the past decade. It had all the makings of a horror flick: wickedly powerful bad guys, gruesome innocent deaths, a citizenry unaware of the disaster just around the corner and just a handful of helpless good guys standing between us and them. The haunting movie? Food Inc.

Food, Inc. is powerful documentary that lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing how our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers, and our own environment.

The Revolution of Food

The world's food chain is built mainly on heavily subsidized and, therefore, cheap corn. And because supermarkets have become a cornucopia to us as consumers, we have become accustomed to eating whatever we want whenever we want it, in quantities we don't need. I'm guilty. But realize all my life I've been following different experts( books...the media,again!) as they tell me what to eat, what not to eat and what to look down on others for eating. This food is good.That one is bad.Those over there will KILL YOU. Even those of us who avoid junk food, with many sighs of relief and self-approval, may still be eating junk a good deal of the time.

(Just A Side Note)
This reminds me of the popular cartoon series Scooby Doo. Where we as consumers are on many quests to solve (food) mysteries. As we buy, each mystery is new (to us) and unusual, and involves each of us from stopping someone from wreaking certain havoc on the world. And then the mystery becomes solved by the end of each show (in our case, it would involve our health) with the villain proclaiming, "And I would have gotten away with it if it hadn't have been for you kids (consumers)"!

The Result When We've Had Enough

Where The Real Change Begins

Companies respond to our buying choices. As one supplier says in the film, “People have got to start demanding good, wholesome food of us. And we’ll deliver, I promise you.” Even a small change can result in more equitable practices.

Disturbing as it is, "Food, Inc." doesn't present some doomsday scenario. People can make a difference, it says: After all, look what happened to Big Tobacco. There are changes we can make. The industry has been slowly taking over our country. Let’s take it back! If you care about your health, or the environment; if you care about human rights, or justice, if you care about food safety, national security, animal rights, sustainability, nutrition, integrity, fairness, or doing what’s right, you (the person reading this blog right now) should see Food, Inc.

I certainly recommend watching the whole documentary - you can even see it for free on Milledrive - but I'm warning you: you will never look at your food the same way again.-Seriously!

From The Ruins

The Jan. 12 earthquake was Haiti's worst natural catastrophe in 200 years; the 7.3-magnitude temblor killed more than 200,000 people, destroyed 105,000 homes, 50 hospitals and health centers, 1,300 school and university buildings and wiped out the presidential palace, parliament and most other government buildings in the capital.

It has been over three months since the devastating earthquake in Haiti which destroyed thousands of buildings, including the major university in the nation's capital. Thankful is a word that has crossed my mind, and I'm sure everyone else. I am thankful for the many missionaries whose heart led them to help those who could not help themselves, and to those in the US and other countries, who provided prayer and donations. For months I've been following a family from Minnesota who blogs on The Livesay [Haiti] Weblog. This month I received an email from Andrew Hawkes, a 22 year old missionary who holds a testimony of Christ love and kindness. He get's it. He understands what's really important,-having a relationship with Christ and committing our lives to Him.

This Wednesday Haitian President René Préval will unveil a $3.9 billion plan to radically reshape his country's post-earthquake economy and infrastructure, according to a Haitian reconstruction action plan.

"Rebuilding Haiti does not mean returning to the situation that prevailed before the earthquake," according to the 56-page action plan, the first detailed account of how Haiti and its international backers plan to spend their money over the next 18 months. "It means addressing all these areas of vulnerability, so that the vagaries of nature or natural disasters never again inflict such suffering or cause so much damage and loss." Let's continue to pray and keep Haiti in our heart and mind as we go about our day. Ask yourself, "what can I do"?

Stuggling With Burdens

Last year about this time I remember walking into church with a heavy burden. My heart was torn in so many ways. A family in our church had just lost their six year old daughter to cancer. My oldest sister was being sent to prison and my mother-in-law was having spiritual problems. The worship group began to sing this song by Third Day and I cried.

Throughout the whole song I cried. Later I realized that life presses all kinds of burdens on each of us, some light but others relentless and heavy. People struggle everyday under burdens that tax their souls. Many of us struggle under such burdens. They can be emotionally and physically draining. And can continue for many years.

Relying on Christ

We have to believe that one of the purposes of trials is to help us come to know Christ and understanding His teachings. When we turn to Christ, we will not only find the comfort we seek, but in so doing we will also gain an increased testimony of the Savior.

Now more than ever my heart has ached for the women around me. I found myself the other day in my room, on my knees, crying out to God to help those around me who are weak in there marriage. I cried out even for my own.

A man once said, "Through women alone can our faintest dreams become a reality. Woman is the creator of the future souls unborn. Though she may be cramped, enslaved, and hindered, though she may never be able to speak her ideal, or touch the work she longs to accomplish, yet in the prayer of her soul is the prophecy of her destiny".

I know I've said this before but whatever circumstance you find yourself- as a wife, a mother, a divorced woman, a single or widowed woman- understand, the Lord has blessed you with unlimited potential to influence the world. Don't dwell on the past. Be the best you can be, and the Lord will provide the rest. Don't compare yourself with others. You are beloved by God, and your life has meaning, purpose, and direction. God loves knows you and loves you.

Glenn Beck CPAC Speech Video:"Republicans Don't Need A Tent...America Is Not A Clown Show"

Glenn Beck always seems to surprise me. To be quite frank, I find his show to be long-winded. Beck makes a point, which is a good one, and just can't move on. I sat listening to Beck's Speech from the 2010 CPAC Conference (watch the video of Glenn Beck at the 2010 Conference below) and was astonished on how he ~~preached~~ demands republican's to get their own house in order. "I have not heard people in the Republican Party admit yet that they have a problem," he said. "I haven't seen the Come-To-Jesus moment from Republicans yet." Beck even throws Tiger Woods's apoligetic speech into the mix.

But the crowd was most enthralled when Beck took them down the winding tales of Calvin Coolidge, the Statue of Liberty and the supposed great middle class explosion of the 1920s. "This man is a showman!" Really, Beck brought back some memories of some of the ~~sermons~~ preachin' I heard as a child.

Proverbial Truth of Sex, Drinking, and Power

Let’s talk about sex…yes, the “S” word. The Bible actually has a lot to say about the subject. But for now I am just going to touch on one chapter, Proverbs 31. This chapter contains two poems: 1) the wise king (31:2-9) and 2) the "excellent wife"(31:10-31). Guess which part I'm going to discuss?

Note to all those who aren't well read in the Bible: sex, drinking and power is not the description of the excellent wife:) In the first chapter, the godly king is addressed that his reign should be characterized by holiness (v.3). This has affected some of the most notable figures in television, politics, and entertainment. Bill Clinton's reputation was destroyed on every level, after his affair with Monica Lewinsky. When Tiger Woods's voicemail to his mistress was leaked, ~~any~~ doubt that he had been unfaithful to his wife, Elin, was immediately erased. Sexy time is only for your mate.

"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Nor for princes intoxicating drink;

Lest they drink and forget the law, And pervert the justice of all the afflicted."

Need I say more? Alright, I will. Intoxicating drinks ~~can~~ weaken reason and judgment, loosen convictions (and pants), and perverts the heart. It is not suited for individuals who set an example (i.e, mom, dad, brother, sister, President) for others.

Last, but not lest, he is instructed about compassion. Choosing to uphold the case of the helpless in both physical (v.6) and material (v.9) crises, mirrors the compassion of God.

A Lesson For Mothers:

This virtuous woman did know best. She addresses her son with the best advise yet. There relationship with each other must of been solid, in order for her to openly express these poems. I've read this scripture a dozen of times, and have wondered what brought on the talk. Whatever the situation, she took time out to clarify, not in anger, the proverbial truth of sex, drinking, power, and the qualities of a virtuous woman. When we are communicating with our children, we should ask ourselves (self-talk:)),"how approachable am I?"

How can we increase our faith? First off, faith CANNOT grow where there is no obedience. Trusting in our Heavenly Father and obeying His commandments, will strengthen our Passion for Christ. Through faith in the Savior and through repentance, we will be able to make His Atonement be fully effective growth in our lives.

FREE MOVIE NIGHT

I just stumbled upon this a month ago, and I am proud to say it's no hoax! Go and watch a movie before it's released 100 percent free. The three websites I use grant 2 passes/1 per admit.

Movie Screenings are the advance showings of a film to a select group of people and the general public is not allowed to attend. These tickets go very, very fast and are restricted to certain cities in some cases. So with that in mind, let me let you in on something.

PLEASE NOTE:Screenings are ALWAYS overbooked, so arrive early, and I don’t mean 15 minutes early, I’d shoot for an hour early if the film has a lot of pre-release hype. Six months ago my husband and I received free tickets (Law Abiding Citizen) from a radio station. We arrived around the time they said the movie was starting. We stood, waiting, waiting, and waiting, and did not get in (however, they did ask for my email and invited me to another showing, (Amelia) which was at a later date). And remember to take your ID, especially if you look even remotely around 18 years of age, and the film is rated R. You pay for everything else: popcorn, drink, etc.

Building A Foundation

Each person has an important part with those there surrounded by. Our Heavenly Father has given instruction for men, women, and children to understand their roles and how it effects others. By listening to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit each of us can speak love, joy, and peace into our world.

In Our Marriage

Each person must realize that neither one is more important. As a stay at home mother, I can say there's been days when guilt has crept over me because my husband is the moneymaker. Women, you can rest assure in knowing that God has always intended for the home to be the wife's domain. I don't know but can imagine that a father might feel a lost connection with their children because of his obligation to provide. That guilt also can be wiped away. Men, remember do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15-NIV ) The number one influence in a child's life is their parents. Setting an example by showing love and respect toward each other, is a starting point for our children on how to build their own marriage some day.

Fathers

For the bible clearly says "Where there is no vision, the people perish." (Proverbs 29:18). As the head of their household, every man should humbly strive to commit his life to God. His own testimony of Christ is reflected both in his words and deeds. He is the leader of daily practice of family worship. The scriptures are a road map to guide his home in achieving righteous goals. He's constantly looking at the key, which is faithfulness in Christ. His journey ends with his children who are a witness of preserving the gospel for generations to come. He leads his family down the straight path.

Mothers

Every woman should consider the beautiful picture painted in Proverbs 31 of the truly fulfilled homemaker who glories in the hopeful calling God created for her. Priority number one should be submitting our life to God and our husband. We should look at our life as a mission of service. Priority number two involves teaching our children the gospel. Matthew Henry, a non-conformist pastor once said that "every house should be a little church." His point was not that the home should replace the church, but the home should become a foundation of blessing for both the local church and community at large. We should work at making our home a pleasant place. Our richest friendships begin at home. It's where we learn to love and honor. In return we receive joy of belonging to one another.

Children

A child who reads the scriptures and prays, will have the bases of strengthening their testimony of the Lord. Being honest with Heavenly Father, parents, and others, will develop the character needed to choose the right when making decisions. If they learn one of the greatest commandments "to love thy neighbor," their heart will be conditioned to serve others.

As A Family

When a family can pray, speak, sing, and work together, they will inherit the blessings our Heavenly Father has to offer. We should allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts, exemplifying holy living, so that others may be drawn unto Him.

I've always been a firm believer to read something that could better my life or someone else. I was captured by the subtitle, of writer Brian Tome describing himself as being a fanatic of freedom. For I, am a fanatic too. The subtitle made a home-run.The four bases are God, freedom, life, and religion. Tome summed up the meaning of freedom in one paragraph, by saying "Freedom is being who God designed you to be" (p.19). But the substance (or content) completely lacked in self responsibility.

I would not recommend this book to anyone who is starting out in their faith. The bottom line is that if you want the full experience of God's freedom, you have to be willing to put forth the effort to work through the hard times and persevere until you reach your reward. It's a full on process that demands whole-hearted devotion to change in one particular area at a time."

Funny ha ha, but for me it's so true. It's amazing, when I gain weight it never seems to go where I wouldn't mind. Nope. Instead it piles on my baby belly jelly or thighs:(

Respecting Sons

I was just about to call it a day until I stumbled upon this blog on the up bringing of sons. I am thankful for my two precious boys that God has blessed me and my husband with. There are days when I forget my role as their mother. I find myself centering their father as the one who has the final say and that's it. I know that the only way that I can achieve this is to depend upon God to strengthen me and enable me with the wisdom, endurance and love throughout whole child rearing process.

Psalm 144:12, “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth.”

Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Sons are different than daughters. God has created our sons to grow up and become leaders and providers. Because of this, it is very important that we treat them in a way that is respectful so that he will have the confidence that he needs to do the many courageous things that God will call him to do.

Respecting Sons
1. Make it a priority to show respect to your husband first.
A. Understand that your son will respect you in direct proportion to your respect for his dad.
B. Mothers must teach their daughters to respect their brothers.

2. Verbalize your respect through praise of his achievements.
A. Admire him for his accomplishments.
B. Respect is connected to real achievements.

3. Give him responsibilities and expect him to fulfill his obligations.
A. Mothers should have high standards for their sons.

4. Common courtesy is a central aspect of respect.
A. Resist the temptation to make fun of your son in public.
B. Don’t share his weaknesses or failures with others.
C. Embarrassing your son in public is always disrespectful.
D. Make every effort to correct your son in private.

Remember this: boys who are braggarts or spend a lot of time showing off in front of others are usually lacking in respect. A boy who is respected will usually have more confidence and be more prone to good behavior.

Responsible Sons
1. We must prepare our sons to go out into the world, face obstacles, work hard, and provide for a household with integrity.
A. Mothers can unwittingly undermine this preparation by mollycoddling, pampering or overprotecting) their sons.
B. Mothers should avoid fighting their son’s battles and sheltering them from the consequences of their actions.
C. Mother should not rush to her son’s defense ~ sons who grow up looking to Mom to fix everything will look for the same thing in a wife :).

2. Sons must learn to take responsibility.
A. Sons must not be allowed to make excuses for their mistakes.
B. Mothers must resist the temptation to “feel sorry” for their sons when they fail.

3. Mothers should avoid being drawn into an adversarial relationship with her son.
A. Mothers must remember that they are in authority over the son until he is grown and should not argue with him as if he were an adult.
B. Mothers should strive to be good listeners and allow Dad to handle the big problems.
C. Mothers must give commands and then expect those commands to be followed without back talk.

4. Sons must not be trained to be home-centered.
A. Mothers must make it their goal to teach their sons that the pattern of homemaking is not the pattern of their future life.
B. Sons are to be raised and trained to leave the home and go out into the world and conquer it!
C. Mothers must remember that they are not the role model for their sons ~ he must be taught to love, admire and appreciate his mother, and learn very early on to follow in the footsteps of his father.

5. Sons must be taught to be self-controlled.
A. Indulging a son will lead him to live an undisciplined life.
B. You want your son to be self-governed, so that when he is older, he will not have to be governed by someone else.
C. Training your son to be self-controlled must begin when he is just a wee little boy (under the age of two years old).
D. Schedule and routine is your best tool of teaching self-control to a young child (this little bit of advice came from me, not the book).

Religious Sons
1. Sons demonstrate their faith differently than daughters do.
2. Look for ways that he is demonstrating his faith in his every day life and activities.
3. Don’t discourage your son for being vocal about his beliefs.

If God has given you the opportunity to mother a son, consider yourself blessed. The little boy in your home now will soon grow up to be a grown man in our society later. Ask God to help you to respect him and raise him in a way that he will grow up to be a responsible man who is able to work hard and lead well. May God bless you and encourage you as you do.

Our Life As A Child Of God

I am so excited to be writing about this because I think all of us at one time or another overlook that we are a child of God. When I was younger I always remember so many people around me saying that I was a child of God. If we ponder upon the scriptures in the New Testament and the life of Christ we can envision the relationship that Heavenly Father has with Christ. But the scripture that all of us know so well Luke 11:2-4 in also let's us know that we too can have that same relationship. Jesus let's us know when in the First paragraph of the prayer of "Our Father". Creator of all things our heavenly Father has the heart of a Father (Romans 8:15). In the verses following Romans 8:15 we can read of the Holy Spirit and its position (testifying) as it confirms the validity of our adoption to receive divine grace of the full inheritance Christ receives by divine right (Heb 1:2). Verse 17 of Romans chapter eight gives us proof that a believer will suffer-whether it comes in forms of mockery, ridicule, or physical persecution. That makes me think of the execution of Nick Berg. From suffering to Glory is where our heart and mind should be.
