Newsroom, the new television show on HBO, is a summer drama that will run for 10 episodes. The series runs on Sunday nights, after HBO hits True Blood and Veep. Newsroom is an ensemble cast show about the state of the news, a dramatic and somewhat outdated view at how cable television news are done. Although the show has been relatively well received, episodes three and four (yet to air) have been eviscerated by critics. <div>

Newsroom's creator created The West Wing, one of the most critically acclaimed drama shows in the last few years. Newsroom is said to have a lot of the same problems: a moralizing attitude with a preachy but dramatic tone with an ever-so-slight splash of misogyny, and a privileged whiteness that might be difficult to stomach in a show that looks like it aims to intellectually and morally stimulate its viewership. </div>

The writing has so far been fun and smart, the actor's beats and chemistry with each other keep it from being slow and stale. The fact that the show represents a news culture that, according to The Guardian, stopped existing thirty years ago, will be of little relevance to those that just want one good, involve drama to watch this summer. </div>
