YouTube is basically my TV. I do watch a few shows online, but, when I'm really busy I much prefer to watch a couple of YouTube videos. I often play them when I'm doing my hair and make-up and I just can't get enough. The beauty community on YouTube gets a lot of flack and, while there are plenty of ''sell-outs'' with an overload of sponsored videos and filler content, there is still an abundance of talent, personality and good taste to be seen. We dabbled in video content in the past and found it quite tough to find time to film together, and then edit, upload etc so decided to put all of our effort into writing. I really admire people that make quality videos as it takes a long time - especially those who are juggling it with other jobs!

So, without further ado, here are just some of my favourite people on YouTube. Let me know if you watch these people too, or if you've any suggestions for more to watch!

1. LisaLisaD1
The Southern queen of ''hauling''. I think Lisa's channel is like Marmite, but I love her, I genuinely think she's a nice woman and find her videos really relaxing to watch! If you're not a fan of long hauls, do no watch. However, I find her content pretty useful simply by virtue of the fact that she uses and tries so much stuff. I always keep an eye on what she is using and loving at the moment because it is usually top-notch! Also, weirdly enough, Lisa's 'Friday Hauls' are literally part of my routine - both Sinéad and I usually watch them on a Saturday morning!

2. Blushingpixie

Kind of a Canadian LisaLisaD1! Martha is a stunning woman and like Lisa, uses the best of the best when it comes to makeup and skincare. She has fuelled my blusher obsession and I am in awe of her hair.

3. HollyYMBB

Holly is another enabler - I love her make-up picks especially for foundation and concealer as we have a very similar skin type. Her reviews are always really in-depth and informative, which I really appreciate!

4. JeanfrancoisCD

A Canadian make-up artist with a bubbly personality and some amazing blending skills to boot!

5. Rachel Whitehurst

An American college student who doesn't take herself seriously at all and shares my love for bright lipstick. Do not watch if you are easily offended!

6. ttsandra

Sandra is a high-end makeup queen, I love her picks because her skin type is quite similar to mine. Her look is effortlessly polished and I can only wish I looked as put together as she always does!

7. MakeupOverMind

I love Orla's chatty videos because it's just like sitting down with a friend. She has really similar taste in makeup to me and we are always lemming after the same stuff!

8. Leanne Woodfull

I'm sure most of our Irish readers will know and love Leanne - we love her too! Her sense of style is hard to beat and I love the pin-up element that she always channels!

9. TarMar

Tara's another total individual style-wise. I love a lot of her cosmetic picks and her glowy, natural makeup looks - she always makes me want to try a nude lip but I still can't find a shade to suit me!

10. LetzMakeup

Siobhan is a seriously professional, uber-talented make-up artist - we actually interviewed her a while back, so you can read that to find out more.

11. Sharon Farrell

Sharon's another Irish make-up artist who is now based in Australia. She has some great basic tips when it comes to brushes and technique, and she knows MAC products inside out so I am always interested to see what her top picks are.

12. Simone Loves Makeup

Ah Simone. A buddy of ours, Simone has just recently returned to YouTube and I couldn't be happier about it! I love her chatty videos and her enthusiasm for products is literally infective!

Overrated: Take 2

Back in January (where has the time gone?!) I posted about products that I felt were overrated and had left me feeling a bit cold. The response I got from you guys about your own disappointing products was great and I vowed to do another similar post soon. Fast forward almost 6 months later and I am finally getting around to sharing some more not-so-hot products!

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage

Let me just preface this by saying that I do like this product but, I just find it to be so underwhelming. Secret Camouflage is one of those beauty products that has a long standing cult status among beauty bloggers/vloggers and make-up artists and, while it does indeed camouflage blemishes and imperfections really well, it's just not as nice to work with as I was led to believe. The shade selection is also quite poor and Laura Mercier would do well to look to her competitor Bobbi Brown to see how best to cater for very fair skintones!

Lancôme Le Crayon Sourcils

I've already reviewed this product in-full here so, I won't rehash my negative thoughts all over again. Suffice to say, this product gets a massive thumbs up from almost everyone (including our very own Dee!) but, it just doesn't work for me at all!

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colour

When I went to NYC last summer, the Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colour lipsticks were heartily recommended to me my numerous sources. I was genuinely excited to try these and picked up a gorgeous hot pink shade. However, when a lipstick literally drags across your lips and leaves you feeling like you have just applied a generous layer of Pritt Stick to your gob, I think it is safe to say that it is a massive disappointment! Thank God I only bought the one...

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot*

I'm hesitant to include this in here as it is by no means a bad product. However, after getting all excited about it based on the press release promises and even having our own personalised video from a rather hunky brand representative, I wasn't entirely blown away by the product itself. I think it's because I am entirely devoted to the Origins Super Spot Remover and everything else just pales in comparison!

By way of review though, the Hyaluspot doesn't seem to work as rapidly or as successfully on blemishes as I would like. Rather than dehydrating and shrinking spots, it just adds a layer of protective "film" over the affected area to prevent more bacteria from entering. Dee asked me to throw in her two cents here as she was also let down by this product. As someone who suffers with cystic acne, she said it has absolutely effect on these types of blemishes. It's a crying shame to be honest because we are both Vichy fangirls through and through but, this just doesn't get the VivaAdonis vote.

Origins VitaZing

Again, not a bad product but, one which received massive amounts of hype about a year and a half ago and which left me feeling a bit blah after I had used it for awhile. It is simply a nice smelling moisturiser with some tinted beads suspended in it that give skin a glow. However, it is (a) slightly orange toned and (b) too dark for me 99% of the time so, not entirely universal or wearable. It is lovely for summer holidays though!

Benefit ChaChatint*

When Benefit launched Chachatint back in 2011, there was a massive hype surrounding it. Hell, at the time, even I was on-board and I used it almost exclusively for a few months. However, since then it has been languishing at the back of a drawer, passed over for more wearable, more easily applied blushes. For, you see, Chachatint, as with all of Benefit's bottled tints, requires time and skill in order to achieve a perfect peachy flush. Apply it with the included brush and you risk having dots staining your skin. Apply it with a brush (I favour a duo-fibre like the MAC 187) and it will take a few applications to build up a discernible colour. I'm just a powder blush gal at heart I think!

The Body Shop Brazil Nut Range

I am really fond of the Body Shop as a brand and usually have a couple of their products on the go. Most often, it's their body butters - Sinéad and I are both massive fans and have raved about them on numerous occasions! What I really enjoy about the brand is that their range of products are so huge that there is always something else to try, and they are forever expanding as well! I'd previously bought and loved the Brazil Nut body butter, so I was really happy to hear that they'd expanded the scent into a series of products.

On a side note, brazil nuts are an ingredient that The Body Shop have put a huge amount of work into sorcing in an ethical manner. Last year, we met Gaston Vizcarra, a genuninely lovely guy from Peru who has been helping to supply TBS with Community Fair Trade brazil nut oil since 1989. I know that some of you have been a little disheartened with The Body Shop since their association with L'Oreal, but suffice to say that after meeting Gaston last year and hearing in detail about how The Body Shop has helped a lot of people in rural South America, I am satisfied that they are a very ethical company. Now, on to the products!

If you're not familiar with the Brazil Nut scent, it's a very sweet, nutty (duh) aroma which has more than a hint of chocolate about it. I would describe it as the smell of a Cadbury's Fruit and Nut bar, but a tad sweeter - and I really love it. I don't find it overpowering or too sickly, but I would definitely have a good sniff before buying just to ensure that it isn't too much for you personally.

One of the new products in the Brazil Nut line is the Brazil Nut Beautifying Oil* (€14.95). I was given this oil in the strawberry scent last year and got on very well with it (review here). There are so many oils on the market at the moment, but I would recommend this as a great multi-tasker as it is suitable for both body and hair. I've also seen other people online using this as eye make-up remover and even as a brush cleaner, so it's definitely a handy one to have! Personally, I love using this on my legs after shaving - it's really moisturising and makes them feel even smoother.

On to the Brazil Nut Body Mist* (€13.95), this is a bit of a strange scent to actually spray on, but it's a grower. Because of the alcohol in the mist, the first spritz initially smells like boozy chocolates! However, I did like the subtle warmth of the scent once it had dried down. It's a nice, pocket-friendly scent that would be great as a handbag staple, or you could keep it at work/school to freshen up during the day. Of course, these come in a ton of scents so there is bound to be one that you like if Brazil Nut doesn't float your boat. Pink Grapefruit is another personal favourite!

My favourite product so far is the Brazil Nut Shower Cream* (€8.95). This is a really moisturising, rich cream which lathers up nicely and, essentially, smells like you are showering in hot, nutty, vanilla-y chocolate! It's divine, luxurious and I love it. You get 250ml for under €9 so, not a bad deal for a great quality product. Something like this adds a bit of luxury to your everyday routine, so, is ideal to treat yourself to if you don't have much time to do more extensive pampering.

The Body Shop Brazil Nut Range was added to the permanent collection due to popular demand and should be in store now!

Benefit Fake Up

It's been a while since we've done a joint review so, we thought we'd jump right back in with our thoughts on Benefit's latest big release, Fake Up concealer*. We both have different skintypes and different requirements from a concealer so, we feel like we are well-placed to give you the lowdown on what it promises and how it works.

The Lowdown

Fake Up is Benefit's first hydrating crease-control concealer. Available in three shades; Light, Medium and Dark, Fake Up promises to hide dark circles, diffuse fine lines and keep skin hydrated for 6 hours with no creasing. The price for all this? €26.50.

What Sinead Says...

I'm pretty devoted to my Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and Tinted Eye Brightener so, Fake Up didn't even register with me initially. However, after a massive endorsement from my buddy Simone, my interest definitely piqued!

At first I was disappointed in the shade selection or rather the lack thereof. Benefit generally runs too dark for my ghostly complexion so, I was worried the Light option wouldn't work for me but, luckily it did. It's quite yellow in tone which is odd for a product that is intended to conceal dark undereye bags as, traditionally, salmon/peach toned products are more appropriate.

While it's promises of not creasing do indeed ring true, it doesn't do much for my dark circles which, as dark circles go, aren't even that bad. A discernible shadow still shows through the concealer and I have taken to layering it with the aforementioned Eye Brightener from Bobbi Brown. I think the ultimate issue is that there is too much of the hydrating outer ring and not enough of the pigmented core. The result is a significantly diluted concealer.

I use this everyday but, not as suggested and not without some reinforcement from other products. It works really well around my nose to hide redness and doesn't cling to any dryness thanks to its hydrating capabilities. It's good but, not all that and not cheap either!

What Dee Says...

Like Sinéad, I am pretty much on the middle ground about this product, and I also think it is grossly overpriced. I like how it feels on my undereye area and the immediate effect is quite brightening due to the hydrating part of the product. However, it's just not cutting it concealing-wise. I wouldn't even chance using this on any form of blemishes or redness. Even on my undereye area, which is not really that bad, I have, like Sinéad, taken to layering this with another brightening concealer like the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch.

Using the Maybelline alone really wouldn't look much different, and had I bought this, I don't think I'd be feeling too bowled over. I will happily use this up but would not recommend this as a good value high-end concealer: it is simply too expensive, and there are other (cheaper) products out there that do me fine for both the undereye area and blemishes.

I would try this only if you are sensitive in the eye area or have dry skin in that zone - it is very comfortable to wear and sits well on the skin. I am thinking of doing a big concealer round-up soon as I have a nice little collection at the moment - if that's a post you'd be interested in then please let me know!

Colour Pop @ Style Club North Earl Street

I know that some people hate it and find it really boring, but I bloody love going to the hairdresser and have done since I was small! I've never been one for the beautician or spa (namely because I can't afford it), but I've always found going to get my hair done to be really relaxing and enjoyable - I think this is probably because, hand on heart, I have never had a bad hairdresser. I have never had a bad experience, and any damage my hair has encountered has been wholly self-inflicted! For years I went to a local Kris Morton salon and had absolutely no complaints. At about 18 I got a bit bored so switched to Peter Mark in on Mary St in Dublin city centre. I went there for ages and simply got bored again so, when Style Club opened near my bus stop in town, my interest was piqued and I found myself switching hairdresser once again.

I had already been to the new branch twice myself before I was invited for a free Colour Pop treatment at Style Club, so I was fairly confident that I'd be writing a good review. I booked in for the day after my exams ended last week so it was a really welcome treat. The staff at Style Club are all really welcoming and chatty and will offer you an endless supply of tea and coffee during your appointment, something that I always appreciate! Holly was my stylist and she was a really lovely girl as well as a talented hairdresser. She talked me through the treatment - basically, Colour Pop is a quick, conditioning treatment with an added punch of colour. Any shade of hair can use it and there is also a 'clear' one if you just want the conditioning benefits. The treatment leaves a brilliant shine to the hair which is particularly great if you have bleached locks.

Holly also cut my hair using both a scissors and a razor which I really appreciated. My hair is so thick and heavy that a quick cut can often look overly blunt and boring, but she successfully managed to thin it out without making it frizzy, and also gave me some really simple layers. I've found the cut to be easy to style myself (this is not always the case) and she took a lot of weight out of the mid-sections, meaning that I can dry it that little bit faster! Most critically, she also gave me an amazing curly blow--dry. Now, I am obsessed with the curly blow-dry. I'm not sure why I have never written about them here but, honestly, a good blow-dry always makes me feel like a new woman! So, if you'd never had one, I'd urge you to try it especially for a special occasion. I was starting my internship next day and as silly as it sounds, the fact that my hair looked good gave me one less thing to worry about.

Colour-wise, I just had a brunette wash of colour and it definitely showed up as my hair was a bit patchy in places beforehand. I was most impressed with the shine that the treatment gave, though, and my hair still feels healthier than normal three or four washes later. Overall, I am pretty impressed and would get this again to supplement my colour. I really do recommend Style Club - I've already referred my best friend to the salon and she loved it too!

L'Oréal Skin Perfection: Dull Skin

Having reviewed the L'Oréal Skin Perfection line for Dry and Sensitive skin earlier this week, I'm back today with a look at the products aimed at Dull Skin. Just to recap, Skin Perfection is an edit of nine innovative cleansing products that are formulated to remove make-up and impurities while also improving the appearance and texture of the skin. The range is broken down into three categories; Dry and Sensitive Skin, Normal to Combination Skin and Dull Skin, each containing products specifically targeted at the issues associated with each skin type.

As with the Dry and Sensitive Skin range, L'Oréal are boasting about a special ingredient which is targeted at Dull Skin. LHA, or Lipo-Hydroxy Acid, is intended to exfoliate the skin, promoting epidermal cell renewal and revealing a more radiant and even complexion. Again, as with the Dry and Sensitive Skin range, this "special" ingredient is only actually contained in one of the products for Dull Skin, the Radiance Revealing Exfoliator (RRP €6.99)*, which poses the question as to why the 15-Second Miracle Cleansing Oil (RRP €12.29)* is billed as being appropriate for this specific skintype.

Now, I really, really like the Radiance Revealing Exfoliator. It isn't particularly harsh and doesn't leave my skin in anyway tender or red as many exfoliators do. I use around a pea-sized amount with warm water and massage the mixture into my skin, concentrating on my nose and chin, where my skin often looks tired and grey. I don't find the product to be at all stripping which is a massive plus as so many cheaper skincare products can leave skin feeling completely devoid of all nutrients and natural oils which, or course, we need and want in order to have a bright and glowy complexion. Massive thumbs up from me for this one!

As with the micellar water I reviewed in the post earlier this week, I feel like the 15-Second Miracle Cleansing Oil will be a top seller and a total hero product. This lightweight oil, featuring a blend of three different oils, works to instantly dissolve all make-up, even waterproof, and washes off without leaving a scummy film on the skin as so many oil-based cleansers do. While I'm not as enamoured with this as I am with the micellar water, I do love how effective it is at just stripping my skin of all make-up at the end of the day. It makes cleansing a super quick process and, while I would always follow this product up with a deep cleanser, it is definitely a sufficient alternative for those nights where you are toying with the idea of going to bed with your make-up on but, really know you shouldn't!

Bourjois Cream Blush

Quite often, it will take me a while to make up my mind about a product. Even if something is very good, I end up mulling it over for at least a few days before making up my mind. The fact is that a lot of the products coming on to the market these days are of a high standard, meaning that I have become even more discerning when it comes to reviewing them. As soon as I used these cream blushes, though, I was certain that I would love them, and I know that a lot of you will, too!

We're always talking about how ''low-end'' beauty brands have really upped their game over the last couple of years, with new incarnations of the type of product that used to be exclusive to beauty halls (think gel eyeliner, bi-phase eye make-up remover, foundation primer...the list goes on!).

I was seriously excited as soon as I heard wind of these blushes being launched via some UK blogs. They got rave reviews straight away and I can't help but agree. I picked mine up last weekend in Superdrug Santry, which tends to get new releases a bit ahead of Boots (and usually a little cheaper, too). There is a real buzz around these at the moment, and I'm sure they will sell out fast as soon as they hit Boots.

These blushers are a cream-to-powder formula, which suits me and my oily, pore-y skin down to the ground. They apply easily and blend like a dream either using fingers or a brush - the Real Techniques Multi-Task brush is my weapon of choice! I find that these brighten up my face instantly - it's obvious that a lot of thought went into the shade range, as there is one to suit almost everyone. So far, 01 Nude Velvet is my favourite as the colour is brightening, flattering, and foolproof to apply. 02 Sweet Cherry is a darker, more flushed tone but blends equally well, lending a Snow White style of blush to the face.

Overall I do highly recommend these, but they are not cheap at about €9. For me, the line between pharmacy and high-end beauty products is becoming more and more blurred, and the quality of these is fantastic for the price - less sticky than the likes MAC Cremeblend blush and Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge. However, I will complain about the measly amount of product - 2.5g is not enough in my book (for reference, a Topshop cream blush is 4g). I have a lot of blushers, though, so I'm not too worried, but the amount of product may be a turn-off for a lot of people.

L'Oréal Skin Perfection: Dry and Sensitive Skin

As total skincare junkies, nothing pleases us more than when more accessible and reasonably priced brands up their skincare game and really pay attention to where the market is heading and what types of products, often at the higher-end of the scale, are proving popular. L'Oréal seem to have done just that with its new launch.

Skin Perfection is an edit of nine innovative cleansing products that are formulated to remove make-up and impurities while also improving the appearance and texture of the skin. The range is broken down into three categories; Dry and Sensitive Skin, Normal to Combination Skin and Dull Skin, each containing products specifically targeted at the issues associated with each skin type. In this post, I'll be taking you through the Dry and Sensitive Skin line-up and, later this week, the products for Dull Skin.

There are five products included under the Dry and Sensitive Skin banner; 3-in-1 Purifying Micellar Solution (RRP €7.69)*, Cleansing and Perfecting Milk (RRP €6.80), Soothing Gel-Cream Wash (RRP €6.99)*, Velvety Soft Toner (RRP €6.80) and Nourishing Cleansing Wipes (RRP €6.80). The aim of this range is to soothe and relieve sensations of post-cleansing tightness, though the addition of D-Panthenol, a Vitamin B5 precursor. Interestingly it is only the Velvety Soft Toner which contains this ingredient so, I am a bit confused as to how the other products are specifically suited to this skintype...

The star of the show is undoubtedly the 3-in-1 Purifying Micellar Solution. Every beauty maven has heard of Bioderma and, with its limited availability, it has become something of a cult product. L'Oréal have obviously recognised a gap in the mass market for a micellar water and have attempted to fill it with this release.

Having not tried Bioderma myself, I can't compare. However, I do love L'Oréal's incarnation for a number of reasons. It completely removes make-up, including my waterproof mascara, and can be left to soak into the skin. Now, I would never ever use this as my primary cleanser. I personally don't think it is sufficient to deep clean my skin however, it is the perfect first step to removing my make-up and leaving my skin a blank canvas for my heavy duty cleanser to work on.

The Soothing Gel-Cream Wash is a bit of an anomaly as far as I am concerned. The hybrid formulation is something new and different and it definitely works to cleanse the skin well. From a personal standpoint, however, I don't feel comfortable using a product like this to cleanse my skin. Gel cleansers, by nature, are quite harsh and stripping and even though this is marketed at the sensitive skins out there (mine isn't overly sensitive) it did feel a bit stripping after a few days of use. I have since relegated it to use bi-weekly with my Clarisonic and it does seem like match made in heaven when used like this as it gives a good lather and does work itself into my skin with the help of the brush.

Overall, I like what L'Oréal is doing here. They have seen a gap and are attempting to fill it. The micellar solution will be a definite re-purchase for me and, while the gel-cream wash isn't suited to my skin, it is by no means a bad product. It's unfortunate that the brand have included face wipes in two of the three Skin Perfection lines as they are a genuine skin pandemic but, I suppose demand overrides the fact that they aren't a viable skincare solution; no matter how specifically formulated they are!

The only real issue I have is that the sterling to euro conversion is disappointingly disproportionate. For instance, the micellar water comes in at a bargain £3.99 which is around €5.90 so, I'm not quite sure where L'Oréal have pulled a figure of €7.69 from?!

A Day in the Life of a Beauty Blogger: Sinead

I'm a really nosy person. Not to the point of being voyeuristic but, I love getting an insight into people's lives which is probably why I love lifestyle blogs and daily vlogs so much! I have seen a number of these Day In the Life style posts popping up in my Bloglovin' feed and, after reading and enjoying them so much (especially this one by British Beauty Blogger) I decided to try my hand at documenting a day in my own life!

Seeing as this is a beauty blog, I picked a recent day where a lot of what I did was blog-centric, just to give you an idea of what it's like to blog as a hobby and do normal things too! You'll probably notice that my day is really regimented. I plan everything and feel antsy about my routine changing...I'm a bit weird like that! I hope you find it a little bit interesting and if you have done one on your own blog, please leave a link in the comments as I love reading them!

7:25 My first alarm goes off. I set around 8 alarms because I have an innate fear of oversleeping and being late to work! Despite having back up alarms, I ALWAYS wake up fully at the first one and have never hit a snooze button in my life; I think I have managed to convince myself that it is a bad omen for the day to hear my second alarm. Yes, I am weird!

7:25-7:30 I give myself 5 minutes to relax and wake up properly while I check in with Facebook, Instagram and email.

7:30-7:35 I head to the bathroom and blitz through my morning routine.

7:35-7:50 I'm back in my room. Even though I don't wear much during the week, I give myself around 15 minutes to do my make-up, purely because it's the last chance I will have to relax until the evening and because I truly enjoy doing it. I have usually laid out my clothes the night before so, I just take 5 minutes or so to get dressed.

7:50-08:10 I'm downstairs for breakfast. I've overhauled my whole lifestyle recently and am eating a bigger breakfast than I have ever done before and am really feeling the benefit of it in terms of hunger and energy levels.

Currently I have a protein shake with almond milk and a slice of wholemeal toast with peanut butter for breakfast and catch up on YouTube videos as I eat.

08:10-08:35 My mam drops me at the train station on her way to work and I usually get into the city centre by 08:35.

08:40-17:30(ish!) My real life job is in recruitment. It's a pretty busy, constantly moving and changing environment so, I'm definitely kept on my toes! I tend to take lunch at around 1pm and like to read my Kindle while I eat. However, today, I am using my lunch hour to pop into a quick meeting with MAC to run through the brand and upcoming collections.

I don't go to many events as work is my priority and always takes precedence but, when it works out, it's nice to show my face and it feeds the beauty fiend in me!

17:40 I usually leave the office around this time and today, Dee and I are going to a Sally Hansen event for the launch of their new collection. Two events in one day is rare enough and it makes the day quite busy but, we love it and appreciate the opportunities to go!

19:00 We get a taxi home from the Sally Hansen event and I go to the gym for a quick workout. Usually I go straight from work but, move it around when necessary. I've been working on technique recently, hence the picture of me squatting - I'm not some creep in the gym with a camera!!

20:30 Back home, showered and sitting down to dinner. I use this time to catch up on blog stuff, YouTube videos, emails etc. It's my favourite time of the day as I can finally breathe and slob about with no real pressure to do anything if I don't want to. My boyfriend Kev usually comes over around this time to watch a movie or some TV, so long as he doesn't have a late appointment (He's an athletic therapist/physio type person!). I also use this time to sort through any new post and put it in its relevant category; Blog, Magazine, To Review, To Photograph etc.

22:30 I always try to be in bed by this time. Usually I will catch up on one of my TV shows that I watch online (Currently watching Grey's Anatomy, Girls and Revenge) but, given that today was so busy, I am working on some articles for OohLaLa, the magazine that Dee and I are contributing beauty editors for.

23:30 I need my eight hours so, it's generally lights out around now. My sleep used to be really haphazard and I often had at least one night during the week where I wouldn't get any sleep but, since I have really knuckled down on this new way of eating and training, I sleep really solidly and rarely ever wake up tired. As a side note, I have had a few requests on Instagram to do a full post about my change in lifestyle and how I am finding it in terms of weight loss etc. I have been hesitant to do it but, if it's something you'd be interested in, please let me know in the comments!

So, that's my day in a nutshell. Not particularly interesting but, full to the brim nonetheless!

L'Oréal Sublime Bronze: New for 2013

I've been quite vocal in the past about embracing the pale but, in recent months I have been all about the bronze glow. I wouldn't even call it a tan necessarily but, just a few shades deeper than my natural grey pallor! While I do still have issues with fake tan, particularly how it wears off, looking particularly obvious once my pale skin starts showing through, I have been loving the confidence that comes with having gorgeously golden limbs. As they say, every little helps!

For summer 2013, L'Oréal has introduced a whole new line-up into their Sublime Bronze range. Alongside the oils, exfoliators and moisturisers that feature as part of the Prep and Maintain step are three new tanning options.

Possibly picking up on the success of the likes of Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, L'Oréal have come forward with their own solution to get summer legs in an instant. The Sublime Bronze Express Pro Summer Legs Self-Tanning Dry Mist* (RRP €23.37) is specifically formulated and packaged to give legs a flawless, natural-looking airbrushed effect.

For a no commitment faux glow, there is the Sublime Bronze One Day Glow Tinted and Shimmering Gel* (RRP €13.35), a bronze tinted gel that has been infused with golden dust. The application of this is pretty flawless. The gel formula is really easy to work with, delivering a streak-free finish. There is no discernible fake tan smell and the tan washes off with a bit of soap and water and elbow grease!

Rounding out the tanning trio is the Sublime Bronze Express Pro Self-Tanning Dry Mist Dark Tan* (RRP €23.37). Billed as L'Oréal's "darkest self-tan yet", the tan intends to mimic a salon tan finish. The packaging comes equipped with an ultra-wide diffusion spray which dispenses the tan as a fine mist and sprays in 360 degrees. The tan dries relatively instantly with a no-streaks finish. While the concept is commendable, when the back of the bottle warns that you should put a towel down before spraying, it does make me hesitant to use it. Maybe I'll give it a shot while using the shower as a makeshift cubicle but, for the time being, I think I'll be sticking with easier options!

This is one of my first introductions to L'Oréal's tanning range and, on first glance, I'm impressed. I love the packaging and I like the variety of concepts. However, I am kind of surprised at how much the range costs. As a drugstore range, I expect products to be universally attainable but, coming in at close to €25 on the upper end of the scale is a bit much for my pocket, especially when my current favourite, Cocoa Brown, is excellent quality for just €8.

REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask

Face masks form an integral part of my skincare routine, and I really cringe when people say they don't use them. Yes, we are all busy, but if you factor a mask into your routine even once a week, it'll make a great difference to the overall health and appearance of your complexion. Masks don't have to be done lying down in a meditative state - I can often be caught at home typing away on my laptop with a green clay mask on, and I usually treat moisturising masks as a night cream in order to get the very most out of them. See? Not so hard!

For the past year, I have been firmly devoted to the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. It's a US drugstore gem which unfortunately isn't available here, but my aunt kindly brought me home five last year, and I have been steadily working through the massive tubes since (with the help of my little brother - sshh!). This is a really hardworking, deep-cleansing clay mask which smells strongly of toothpaste. I love it but am nearly out, so, decided to try something new - and a little more expensive - from REN.

The REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask is also clay-based, but feels extremely light and more gentle on the skin. The texture isn't at all heavy-duty, and the scent is a really relaxing lavender one. Every time I wash this off I am instantly happier with my skin; it looks fresher, smoother, softer and super-clean. My pores are less noticeable and my skin feels cleansed without being overly stripped or dry. Maybe this face mask could clean my room and do my exams for me as well?!

I'm really happy with this stuff and am now dying to try more REN face masks - especially the glycolic one! €20 wasn't cheap for me but, not incredibly dear either, and I can see this lasting me a good while as one pump covers my face well. The packaging is lovely and very functional - the nozzle has a little cap so the product won't dry up and block the pump. Nifty or what?!

Vichy Idéalia BB Cream: Perfect for Fair Skin!

Today is a good day for, today, I bring you news of a BB cream that is both absolutely amazing and perfect for fair skin. Do you know how rare that is?! Landing on counters this month is Vichy's new 6-in-1 skin perfecting Idéalia BB Cream which promises to improve the quality of the skin's surface and even the complexion to give skin a uniform colour instantly. Idéalia BB Cream is the world's first BB cream with anti-grey technology, using the natural ingredient Kombucha which durably brightens the skin from within.

Offering six skin perfecting actions in one product, Idéalia BB Cream instantly illuminates the skin, hydrates over 24 hours, smooths the appearance of wrinkles, refines the complexion, reduces the appearance of dark spots and, with a whopping SPF25, protects from UVA and UVB rays.

The finish of the BB is as promised; dewy, illuminating and with really decent coverage which means it should work for a variety of skin types and preferences. However, the real star aspect of this BB Cream is the shade; it actually SUITS fair skinned people!! There are two shades at the moment; light and medium, and both are supposed to meld into the skin and adjust to give a more even match. When I first read that part of the blurb I sniffed and thought "Surrrre, that's what they all say!" but, I soon changed my tune when I realised it really worked well with my ghostly complexion. I've worn it everyday since receiving it last week and I can foresee it becoming a replacement to my Bobbi Brown Tinted Balm.

I'll put up a face of the day type post featuring the BB soon so you can try and get an idea of finish and colouring but, all in all, I am one incredibly happy beauty bunny at the moment! Bravo, Vichy, bravo!

We all love a good freebie, and this time of year seems to be great for them! Magazines are teeming with generous beauty samples, and there are some great gift with purchase offers running, too - here's the low-down on some of them!

May Magazines:

Fee over at Makeup Savvy has done a great post outlining the best of this month's freebies, so I won't regurgitate - head over and have a look for yourself. I am curious about the Marie Claire/Avon offer - has anyone seen that here yet? If we get it too, it could be a good way of getting your hands on some Avon as they are no longer in Ireland, and one of the products is a SuperShock liner - swoon! I do think it can be pretty easy to get carried away with these magazine deals, though, so do always think twice before you buy. If you're going to pick up multiple copies for the free swag, ask yourself if you are actually going to use the sample or if it will simply end up gathering dust!

Now, on to gifts with purchase. The same applies here: I wouldn't go wasting money to get your hands on a kit of smallish products. However, these gifts can be a lovely added treat if you are stocking up on essentials! I have to confess that I don't think I had ever tried anything by Shiseido until this little set dropped through my letterbox. I am impressed so far, especially by their moisturiser which my skin has been drinking right up. I've also heard great things about their foundations, sun protection and cleansers, so I may be investigating more products before you know it!

If you are a fan of the brand, then it may interest you to hear about their gift with puchase offer which is running until May 12th. Now, on to DuWop. Another brand that I can't proclaim to be overly familiar with, although I do have hilarious memories of us all trying the Lip Venom out in school! This is a fairly generous deal from Cloud10Beauty: buy any DuWop product and receive this little Try Me kit for free. This includes thee little Lip Venoms, two small lip glosses and a miniature of their Private Red lipstick, which I love. Most of what DuWop makes is lip gloss, so if that's your kind of thing (and if you love plumping products!) you really can't go wrong with this brand. I also highly recommend Cloud10Beauty in general; their shipping is super-fast and customer service is second to none. I love the selection of products and brands that they stock, and I'll actually be showing you a sneaky purchase I made from them later on this week!

Elemis Freshskin - Perfect for Festival Season!

I have never camped at a festival but, I have camped. While that may come as a surprise to some, I do know a thing or two about what becomes really important in the cold light of day after a night of sleeping in an overcrowded tent that was pitched, in innocence, over a beetle hill. Polar White Pro Teeth Whitening Glaze

I'm a big fan of very white teeth so, I am always interested in products which claim to brighten, whiten and improve the appearance of your smile. I was particularly intrigued when a sample of the Polar White Pro Teeth Whitening Glaze arrived, mainly because I hadn't heard of it before and I love the idea of having a whitening tool for on-the-go.

The product blurb promises instant removal of stains caused by tea, coffee and red wine thanks to a new and improved whitening formula that contains Aloe, Pomegranate and Chamomile. Now, I don't drink any of the aforementioned drinks so, I don't suffer too much with staining, rather just some minor discoloration. However, I can attest that it does instantly improve the appearance and colour of teeth as opposed to it being a slow process like many of the whitening strips and gels are.

The immediate action of the product is a definite plus but, you do compromise on longevity as the effects are both very subtle and very temporary, hence why I don't have before and after shots like I have done for other teeth whitening reviews. At €24.99, this isn't exactly a bargain but, if you use it like I do, as an on-the-go top up for your teeth, the pen will last you forever so, over time it doesn't work out to be too expensive. I do recommend this but, don't expect long lasting miracles!

Clarins Splendours ~ Summer 2013

Clarins are incredibly generous with their samples to press and bloggers here in Ireland. This has guaranteed extended coverage and hyping of the products, but I know that some of you still aren't that attracted to the Clarins counter as a first port of call in comparison to, say, YSL, Chanel or MAC. I am somewhat of the same inclination, as most of what I buy from Clarins myself tends to be skincare. However, their limited edition make-up collections are just getting better and better (I would say usually better than YSL), and there is always an item or two in them that I know I would be at least lusting after had I not received them as samples.

The Splendours collection is awash with golden and bronze tones and there is a bit of a Mayan theme running through the star products, i.e the bronzer and the eye palette. Ohhh, the eye palette. This is definitely a stand-out piece and a good investment buy. I think it's the best eye palette Clarins have done so far - not only are the colours wearable, they're also extremely flattering and brightening. They work equally well together and on their own. The only dud in the palette, for me personally, is the purpley-black cream liner shade. I just haven't used it much as I'm much more likely to reach for a separate black or brown pencil or liquid liner if I'm creating an eye look with this palette.

Honestly, though, this is an amazing little piece of kit. I love the packaging, the quality, and the shades all in equal amounts. At €39, it is far from cheap but out of all the summer collections that I have seen so far, it is probably one of the most covetable, practical and usable items. I remember before I was really obsessed with makeup, I was not much of an eyeshadow person and just had the one Lancome palette (ha! I know...) and the shades in that palette were very similar to this one. Super usable, easy to whack on, and simple to blend. I'll stop babbling now, but suffice to say I don't think you'll be at any risk of buyer's remorse if you pick this up.

On to the rest of what I recieved from the collection. I've mentioned previously that I think skincare is Clarins' strongest suit, and this is perfectly illustrated by the Splendours Shimmer Body Oil.* This is seriously beautiful stuff. Again, expensive at €37, but if you like high-end beauty and self-pampering, you will probably use every last drop of this up. This is the perfect summer product; it smells divine, hydrates without being overly greasy, and leaves skin on the right side of glowy without a glitter or shimmer overload. If this kind of product is something that you use and enjoy, I would definitely recommend this as the best shimmery oil that I've tried so far.

Rounding out this lovely trio of products is something that I really did not expect to love. As it is essentially a lip gloss, the Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Gel* isn't my typical lip product at all. Just like the Lip Perfectors, though, this isn’t a normal lip gloss and feels exceptionally comfortable and hydrating on the lips. The berry shade is very complimentary to Irish skintones, and if it’s something that you will wear often, then €20 isn’t the worst amount to pay, although some girl maths will definitely be required! Oh, and it smells like blackcurrant jelly!

I'm really enjoying doing these wishlist posts; sure, some of the items may not be the most attainable but, it is really nice to take a wee break from reality and play a quick game of If I Won the Lotto...! I have been having a total bag moment lately and seem to want every second bag I see so, that explains the inclusion of two of my favourites here. The Michael Kors Selma is the most beautiful structured bag. The shape is slightly reminiscent of the Céline Trapeze which I featured in a past wishlist and I love this bright orange mandarin shade for SS13. As for the 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli well, a gal can dream! I am obsessed with the silhouette of this bag and, while not the most practical of colours, I love how crisp and sharp the white is.

In terms of beauty, I have been having an off-season with regards to make-up. There isn't much I have been coveting but, I am dying to try the new limited edition Real Techniques Duo Fibre brushes! Has anyone seen these in Boots yet? Also, continuing with my love affair with Elemis, the Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm sounds right up my street and I am intrigued to compare it to the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm which I really don't care for.

The Salter Kitchen Scales are definitely an odd thing to include but, they represent a change I have been undergoing in my lifestyle and how I eat and take care of my body. I am currently in the third week of training hard, lifting heavy weights and counting my macros and I couldn't feel better! Our kitchen scales here is a bit old and rickety so, I want something smaller and sleeker since I use it everyday! Cocoa Brown Night & Day Tan Mousse

We've reviewed a ton of Irish tanning brands on this site (Rockstar, Tan Organic, Karora Tan), and I have to confess, when Marissa Carter came out with Cocoa Brown last year, I was a little sceptical and wondered what she could possibly bring to the table that wasn't already there. We are spoiled for choice in terms of tanning here in Ireland, and I honestly believe that all of the Irish tans I have tried are just as good as, and often better than, massive tan powerhouses like Xen-Tan and Fake Bake. I think this is because a) Irish companies are working with the typical ghostly Celtic skin in mind, and b) we're great entrepreneurs!

Any scepticism I had about Cocoa Brown disappeared as soon as I'd used it. You can read Sinéad's review here - it's probably the best Irish tan on the market, and when you factor in the amazing price of €8 for a 150ml can, it definitely is.

Night & Day is Marissa's second tanning product, and just like her 1 Hour Tan, it has a pretty unique concept. The mousse is very high in pigment yet low in DHA (the chemical which develops a lasting fake tan), meaning that it gives quite a dark instant tan, and when you wash it off the next day you are left with a light glow. So, in effect it is not dissimilar to Rimmel's new Sunshimmer Instant Tan + Gradual Glow.

I've used Night & Day a couple of times now and I think it is perfect for me. Having said that, though, the beauty of this tan is that different people will be able to use this in different ways according to their own needs. If you like a deep tan and are stuck for time, you could use this for an instant colour before a night out. With the deep pigment and also the amount of waterproof instant tans that are on the market these days, though, I wouldn't personally be inclined to do so. What I have been doing with this is applying before bed and then showering the next day, and the tan I am left with is basically perfect for my taste and skin tone. It's just a simple glow to counteract the bluey-paleness of my natural skin, and I can build on this if needs be by tanning a couple of nights in a row or wearing an instant tan on top of it.

I found Night & Day pretty simple and straightforward to use - the mousse is super-blendable and the low DHA content means that there is hardly any smell. The only time I smelled it the next day was when I had used two layers before bed, which is understandable. Overall, I think it's a brilliant, versatile tan which is useful whether you like a light tan or a deep glow - hats off for Marissa for another innovative, great value product!

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

It's no secret that we're skincare fanatics so, when a press release landed in my inbox a few weeks ago proclaiming to hold information on a new product that already has a massive waiting list, I knew I had to try it. New from Elemis is the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm*, a powerful treatment that dissolves all trace of make-up and grime that builds up on the skin throughout the day. It is marketed as an anti-aging product but, hey, it's never too early to start, right?!

I could probably start and finish this review by saying "I can totally see why there is a waiting list for this product," but, I'll give you a bit more than that to go on! Firstly, it is extremely effective. You can noticeably see any make-up breaking down and working itself away from the skin. You only need a tiny bit of balm and begin by massaging it into dry skin with dry hands. You then continue massaging with wet hands until the balm starts to foam and then wipe off with the 100% cotton face cloth that's included. End result is always squeaky clean, super soft and radiant looking skin.

I'm not usually fussy over scents so long as the product doesn't stink but, the scent of this balm is just incredible. It is packed full of great ingredients including starflower, elderberry and optimega™ oils with rose and mimosa waxes, and anti-ageing padina pavonica which work to deeply cleanse and nourish skin and leave your complexion looking smooth and glowing.

I'm not entirely sure on the euro pricing for this but, I do know it is around the £40 mark in the UK which isn't cheap but, given that you only need such a tiny bit and the results are so phenomenal from the first use, I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the market for a new cleanser and are interested in trying a balm. There were over 10,000 units sold in the first couple of weeks following release and QVC has a waiting list of 7,000 so, it's definitely one to look out for!

Garnier Perfect Blur vs. Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

Make-up primers have blown up in the beauty market over the last year or so. This is great news for me as a primer junkie - there are plenty of affordable ones out there now, meaning that the days of shelling out €40 for Smashbox Photofinish Light are well and truly over. Having said that, both Sinéad and myself have an all-time favourite primer which, at €27, still isn't exactly cheap.

We've both gone on and on about Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch before, so I won't say too much. Essentially, it is a brilliant primer if you are looking for something that will smooth your skin texture out, and also genuinely prolong the wear time of your makeup. We cited this as one of our Best in Beauty 2012, and it is still very high up on my list.

Enter Garnier Perfect Blur. This was launched over in the UK last month with much pomp and ceremony. My interest was piqued and I decided to pick it up in Boots a few weeks ago after trying some on my hand and marvelling at how similar it felt to my beloved Clarins. At €15, it was worth a shot as I was nearly out of Instant Smooth.

After using it for about a fortnight now, I can confirm that this is a very good dupe for Instant Smooth, and that there is very little difference to me between the two. If I am to be really specific, I'll say that the texture of Perfect Blur is just a little 'looser', more powdery and not as tightly packed as the Clarins primer. This isn't really a major issue, though and I feel like this creates the same kind of smooth base on my face as Clarins, prepping it perfectly for foundation.

So, will I keep buying the Garnier? I think I will. The difference between the two is so miniscule that it's not worth shelling out extra for Clarins on a regular basis. It's much better value at €15 for 30ml - Clarins Instant Smooth is €27 for 15ml, so you can do the maths and decide for yourself!

What led you to become a makeup artist?

When I was sixteen I wanted to leave school because I was fed up. I thought about maybe leaving to be a beautician or something. The only class I really enjoyed was art and I was also really interested in makeup. When I told my teacher about my plans, she suggested that I do a make-up artistry course rather than a beauticians course. She pointed me in the direction of a course in the Institute of Art and Design Dun Laoghaire, but you had to have your Leaving Certificate for it. So I stayed in school, studied hard, did a portfolio course and then applied to that course. I didn't actually get the course in the end, but have ended up becoming a make-up artist, just took a bit longer to get here.

What is your favourite upcoming make-up trend for this year?

I love the bright neon lips as seen on Missoni, Prada and Moschino. It is a brighter alternative to the classic red lip and brings your make-up from understated to party ready in 2 minutes!

Top 5 products in your kit?

1.) MAC Fix Plus Spray - I love using this under make-up as a light primer and moisturiser. I think it is great for prepping skin and means that the make-up goes on easier. Also love to spray this over make-up if I want to give a more dewy finish. When I am flying I also like to use it as a re-hydration/refreshing mist.

2.) MAC Paint Pot in Painterly - This is a fantastic base that makes your eyeshadow last and creates a nice clean base on which your eyeshadows can be showcased.

3.) YSL Lip Glosses - Beautiful pigment and they smell divine.

4.) Urban Decay 24Hour Eyeliner - Wide range of don't budge eyeliners that I adore!

5.) Estee Lauder Double Wear Light - My go to foundation for my clients with slightly oily skin, when used with powder, it doesn't budge. It also doesn't give the dreaded flash back or cakiness as much as the original.

What has been your favourite make-up job in recent times? (could you include a picture if possible?)

My favourite job of recent times was doing the make-up for Mairead Farrell's contestant for the Eurovision Song Contest on The Late Late Show. It was great to work with Kasey and the backing artists to design the look and because they were such girly girls, we were able to be a little more adventurous. For Kasey we went for heaps of lashes top and bottom! It was great fun.

Do you have a staple/favourite make-up look?

On myself I love doing a flick liner and statement lip. My eyes are quite deep set (read - a bit saggy!) so heavy eyeshadow is just wasted on me. I like to keep the eye pretty nude apart from the black liner and plenty of mascara...and sometimes even falsies if it is a night out. I normally partner this with a bright coral, red, orange or pink lipstick, I tend to avoid nudes or browny tones.

What product(s) do you think are underrated?

Not technically a product, but I seriously think that eyelash curlers are seriously underrated!! I think they are the best way of opening up someones eyes and making them appear larger. Also you will get more lift in the lashes than with mascara on its own.

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne

I'm really not a scentsy person. It's not that I don't like perfume, because I do, but, I'm very picky as to what scents I wear and I am also hypersensitive to how they smell after settling on my skin, often finding that they can make me feel nauseous throughout the day. However, when I won this bottle of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne at a recent event, I was thrilled as I have never tried a Jo Malone product before and, also, I had heard that this scent is quite strong which is right up my street!

The main accords of this unisex fragrance are woody and spicy, with top notes of raspberry, pomegranate and plum, middle notes of jasmine, pink pepper and clove and base notes of cedar, patchouli, musk and amber.

It is, undoubtedly, a very saturated, dense scent, probably better suited to cold winter's nights than the blossoming days of spring. What starts off as quite a tart and fruity bouquet, soon reduces to something akin to the scent of a forest after a rainstorm; woody and green yet surprisingly fresh.

If you like floral, sweet or girly scents, Pomegranate Noir is probably not for you. However, if you like deep scents, musky scents or to smell like a man (as I do!) then this cologne may strike the perfect balance for you, being that it is heady but, not heavy.

Sally Hansen Exotica Collection

It's no secret that Sally Hansen is one of our favourite nail brands. So, it's unsurprising that we were like two kids in a candy store last week when we went along to the launch of the new Exotica (RRP €8.95) collection for summer 2013. To me, the collection is quite Moroccan-inspired; the burnt orange of the buildings and pottery, the sandy beige tones, the bright blue of the sky and the green of the lush palm trees, it's all very tropical and, well, exotic!

The collection, due in-store in May, is seven shades strong, ranging from the perfect nude to a fiery orange. Each of the shades offers good coverage with one coat and perfect coverage on the second - it's so rare that there isn't a dud in a big release like this!

My top picks from the collection are Shore-ly, a nude that seems like an excellent dupe for Essie's famed Topless and Barefoot, and Evening Glow, that stunning burnt sienna shade that is so unusual yet so perfect for the summer season.

While this collection is a beautiful line-up, I must admit that I was slightly underwhelmed. It's not that it's bad or boring, far from it, but, it just seems have come in too close succession and is too similar to the Sorbet Soiree collection for it to be a necessary release. Apparently the UK have passed up on this collection and, assuming they received Sorbet Soiree, they really aren't missing out on much - except maybe Evening Glow! This is one of those times where less may well be more.
