It is amazing how many people are often intrigued by a character like this even though he scares them. Could Spandy Andy be coming to a beach near you? It is all confidence when wearing speedos.

A Canadian busker who pranced around St Kilda beach in a tiny pair of sparkly speedos has become an online sensation, with video of him strutting and lunging at stunned Melbourne beachgoers attracting more than two million hits on YouTube.

Spandy Andy, who claims he puts "the mint into entertainment and that's fresh", moved to Australia late last year and on a hot summer's day decided to hit the beach and see how Melburnians would react to his revealing routine.

Footage shows the 25-year-old, who has legally changed his name from Andy Rimer to Spandy Andy Rimer, strutting along the esplanade in his sparkly swimwear with an oversized beatbox on his shoulder, as beachgoers stop and gawk at his get-up.

He breaks into a grin before busting out his best moves, including an energetic rendition of the worm along the hot concrete to LMFAO's song "Sexy and I Know It."

Spandy Andy flaps his arms like a bird - a goose, perhaps? - as he runs onto the beach and approaches lone sunbathers, performing push-ups and posing seductively next to them.

The crowd embraces the routine, except for one bearded man who gives Spandy Andy a playful smack when he wiggles his backside in his face.

Spandy Andy said making people smile - or even give a bizarre stare - was what motivated him.

It was a tactic he learned at school when, as the shortest boy and the only Jewish student in his class, he was often targeted by bullies.

"I just learned to basically roll with it and go with it and be proud of who I was and just get weirder," Spandy Andy said.

"They'd be trying to hurt my feelings all the time but I would just get weirder and weirder, so every time they wanted to put me down I'd just start wiggling and stuff like that."

He said he decided to move to Melbourne to dodge the winter in Canada, and since arriving had also performed in the Bourke Street Mall.

"I've danced on the beaches in Vancouver before, I love dancing on the beach. I just love bringing my dance to unsuspecting crowds, and the beach [at St Kilda] was just perfect, it was busy and this new song came out," he said.

"I gave my girlfriend the camera and a couple of other friends.

"I've always been sharing videos online, I've been doing this for about three years now but this is the first one that went really crazy viral, and I just can't believe it."

His advice to everyone is to stop stressing and just smile.

"Even my passport makes me laugh now. There's never a time you should stress," he said.

Hulkamaniacs rejoice! King of big time wrestling Hulk Hogan plans to to visit New Zealand.

Hogan – real name Terry Bollea – wants to let his Kiwi fans see him and his TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) co-stars competing live.

TNA Impact Wrestling started screening this month on Sky TV channel the BOX.

"I know we are new in the marketplace there and we really want to make a good footprint everywhere we go," Hogan told Sunday News from Orlando, Florida.

"And since the response has been so incredible already from your country, we really want to follow it up.

"We not only want to send the show there and make sure everybody knows about us and sees and loves the show, but we also want to come to the marketplace there and service the people with a live show.

"You tell me when your next summer is and that's when I'll be there.

"If you guys get the show red-hot and the numbers and ratings go through the roof, we'll be there a lot quicker."

Hogan said he had been eager to visit New Zealand after being told about it by Kiwi professional wrestlers Butch Miller and Luke Williams, who starred as tag team the Bushwhackers.

"I haven't been to New Zealand before but we are really looking forward to coming over, having you take us around your beautiful country and showing us the sights.

"My friends Butch and Luke – the Bushwhackers, who I worked with all through the 80s and 90s – have told me all about how beautiful the place is.

"They talked to me several times back then about coming down for a visit but I was so busy wrestling and running around chasing my tail doing TV shows and kids movies and stuff that I never had a chance to come your way."

The 2.01m, 137kg 12-time world professional wrestling champion is impressed by our national game.

"I've heard all about the All Black rugby team. They are tougher than the football players here in America, that's what I do know.

"They play without pads, it's non-stop and they just keep hittin'. They seem to hit high, they seem to hit low, and they seem to be able to do everything.

"They are a whole different breed of athlete – they are really something."

At 58, the wrestler, movie star, TV personality and singer is still a very busy man.

"It's getting really crazy again. I had a bunch of back surgeries ... but I'm back on my feet now, I'm training and every once in a while I'll jump in the ring and Hulk up on some people.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A Swedish man was dug out alive after being snowed in to his car on a forest track for two months with no food, police and local media reported on Saturday.

The 45-year-old from southern Sweden was found Friday, emaciated and too weak to utter more than a few words.

He was found not far from the city of Umea in the north of Sweden by snowmobilers who thought they had come across a car wreck until they dug their way to a window and saw movement inside.

The man, who was laying in the back seat in a sleeping bag, said he had been in the car since December 19.

"Just incredible that he's alive considering that he had no food, but also since it's been really cold for some time after Christmas," a rescue team member told regional daily Vasterbottens-Kuriren, which broke the news.

Ebbe Nyberg, duty officer at the Umea police, said police saw no reason to doubt that the man had been stuck in the car for a very long time.

"We would not make something like this up. The rescue services were on site too and saw the same as us," he told Vasterbottens-Kuriren.

Umea University Hospital, where the man is recovering after being rescued by police and a rescue team, said in a statement he was doing well considering the circumstances.

Doctors at the hospital said humans would normally be able to survive for about four weeks without food. Besides eating snow, the man probably survived by going into a dormant-like state, physician Stefan Branth told Vasterbottens-Kuriren.

"A bit like a bear that hibernates. Humans can do that," he said. "He probably had a body temperature of around 31 degrees (Celsius) which the body adjusted to. Due to the low temperature, not much energy was used up."

Why the man ended up under the snow in the forest remains unknown, police said.

New Zealand's longest serving mayor is now eligible for the pension.

Invercargill mayor Tim Shadbolt turns 65 today.

He says he is also eligible for the Super Gold card, a Winston Peters initiative from his days in the Clark Labour government.

Tim Shadbolt says he has not got the card yet as his birthday is today and he has to do the paperwork.

He says it will be a turn up if Mr Peters delivers it personally.

Tim Shadbolt says with a Gold Card, whenever he is in Auckland he will be able to get a free trip to Waiheke Island.
The birthday boy spent this morning recording a TV show and is now out fishing with his son.

A new website has been created called www.wemetonaplane.com aimed at reuniting people who met on a flight. Have you ever met someone on a flight who you want to keep in touch with but never had the chance to exchange details? Do you know anyone you want to get in touch with? My most memorable neighbour on a flight were two New Zealand Olympic boardsailors. One of them won a gold medal. It was more of a mancrush or bromance than anything else!

It seems many an airline traveller takes a fancy to the person in the seat next to them.

Hundreds of people have left their details on a new website that aims to reunite people who have met on plane journeys.

In its first few weeks, wemetonaplane.com has had more than 20,000 page views, as people search for that attractive someone with whom they never traded numbers.

Stories have been logged by people from all over the world, leaving the flight number, date and other details of the flight to help identify the person they are trying to find.

A search algorithm is used to find any stories posted by other passengers from that flight, in the hope the attraction was mutual.

The site, which is the brainchild of Sydney businessman Will Scully-Power, is yet to declare a match but he says more than 30 per cent of visitors are staying for more than 10 minutes, indicating they are "highly engaged" in their search.

Scully-Power met his own girlfriend on a plane and says he was encouraged by figures showing 4400 people a month type the search term "met on a plane" into Google.

Cricket Broadcaster Peter Sharp Dies

New Zealand cricket commentator Peter Sharp has died aged 72. He was famous for his radio commentary where I used to love his dulcet tones. He had a smooth voice. It is shame when someone you have grown up with dies. RIP Peter Sharp who died after a battle with cancer.

One of the most famous voices in New Zealand cricket has fallen silent.

Commentator Peter Sharp has died after a battle with cancer, aged 72.

His wife Sandra was at his side when he passed away at a hospice at four o'clock this morning.

He was the longest serving of the current crop of kiwi cricket commentators, beginning broadcasting in 1966 after playing two seasons for Canterbury as an off spin bowler.

He was a commentator on CHTV3 in Christchurch in its early days, and later for tv in the 1980s.

Mr Sharp was also involved with introducing sports coordinators in schools.

He was largely responsible for the founding in 1992 of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Sports Council.

In more recent years he has been heard as part of the Radio Sport commentary team.

His commentating career spanned 45 years.

Peter Sharp became involved in administration, becoming a Canterbury selector and serving a term as president of Canterbury Cricket.
His funeral will be held in Christchurch on Thursday afternoon.

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

A man suffered a heart attack after eating the "Heart Attack Grill" burger in Las Vegas. Only in America and you have to say that it is hardly surprising when you see that burger. You have to say he had it coming. It makes the Double Down look pathetic.

A very real medical emergency has unfolded at a Las Vegas restaurant that offers "Bypass" burgers and "Flatliner" fries.
The doors to the Heart Attack Grill warn that eating off the menu may be hazardous to your health; and the warnings appear to have come true for one diner.
Amateur video has emerged showing a man being wheeled out of the Heart Attack Grill on a stretcher after a medical episode that restaurant employees say looked like, well, a heart attack.
The eatery's owner Dr Jon Basso, who is not a medical doctor, says he thought it was a joke when a waitress told him a customer was sweating and shaking.
"A nurse came to me and said 'Dr Jon, we've got a patient who's in trouble'. The gentleman could barely talk. He was sweating, suffering", he told a local news station.
Despite the serious nature of the incident, fellow diners reportedly thought it was just another part of the show.
"I actually felt horrible for the gentleman because tourists were taking photos of him as if it were some type of a stunt", Dr Jon said, "But even with our morbid sense of humour we wouldn't pull a stunt like that."
A Las Vegas fire spokesman confirmed paramedics were summoned to the restaurant on Saturday evening and a man was indeed hospitalised.
Since opening in October the restaurant has become infamous for its gut busting menu and the scantily clad 'nurses' who serve the food.
A single meal there can exceed 8,000 calories, and customers weighing in at over 350 pounds (159kg) eat for free.
Dr Basso says he heard the man is recuperating. His name and the medical condition he suffered weren't released.

This skit, from New York media company The Kloons [see video above], has attracted more than a million hits on YouTube. The producers say it wasn't just meant as a joke but ''to investigate the deep chasm between men and women''.

That mighty chasm is indeed wide and growing, with so many women now feeling absolutely entitled to dress as they like - bare tits, enticing flesh squeezed into the shortest, tightest clothing. Everywhere you look, women are stepping out dressed provocatively but bristling if the wrong man shows he enjoys the display.

And men - well, they are in a total state of confusion. There are cocky, attractive, successful men, alpha males, revelling in this unexpected bounty, boldly eyeing off the assets of women they fancy as their prey.

Sensitive males are wary, not knowing where to look. Afraid of causing offence. And there are angry men, the beta males who lack the looks, the trappings of success to tick these women's boxes. They know the goodies on display are not for them. These are the men most likely to behave badly, blatantly leering, grabbing and sneering. For them, the whole thing is a tease. The Rock's 'Win A Divorce' prank backfired this evening, after a lesbian couple turned the tables on the radio station.

The station expected a man called 'Sam' to divorce his wife live on air, but were in for a surprise when it turned out that Sam was a woman, and had no intention of divorcing her partner.

The station tweeted after the prank, "#WinADivorce happened, Sam made the call to her partner and there's NO WAY we could have predicted what happened next."

During the call, Sam’s wife Amber asked the show’s hosts, “How does it feel to be on the other end of something?

“We sabotaged you, you dickheads.”

Sam said on air that she was "disgusted" by the competition.

“I wanted to be live on air and tell you that this is absolutely appalling,” she said.

Basketball Star Roburt Sallie Cut From Spanish Team For Penis Pills

Spanish basketball player Roburt Sallie has become famous for the wrong reasons after it has been revealed that he has been cut from the Spanish team after failing to disclose to his team that he was taking ExtenZe, a pill used for penis enlargement. He has since been dumped after it was feared that he would fail drugs tests after taking these pills. What a claim to fame to be broadcast worldwide!

Former Memphis sophmore Roburt Sallie made a name for himself with a barrage of three-pointers during a record 35-point haul for his school during the famous NCAA Tournament.

Unfortunately he's likely to be remembered for something else after he was cut from his Spanish basketball team.

Sallie apparently didn't tell the team he was taking ExtenZe, a pill used for penis enlargement.

The team were concerned the pill would lead to the star failing a drugs test for testosterone and were angry he hadn't disclosed it to them.

According to Larry Brown Sports, the indication is that Sallie rarely showered with the team after practises and games and the team believe this is why.

There may have been another reason why he didn't shower, but suddenly it appears Sallie has more issues than finding a new team.

Father Shoots Daughter's Laptop Computer Video - Good Parenting?

This father gets the ultimate revenge for his teenage daughter's Facebook post about him by shooting her laptop on video. The beauty of it is she can't do anything about it because she doesn't have a laptop. His daughter is a typical teenage girl by the sounds of it, but it seems she will have learnt her lesson since she no longer has a laptop. It does seem a tad ironic making an online video post in response to her online posting on Facebook. She was out thought by her father who is into IT and so despite her posting something offensive about him on her profile thinking he couldn't see it, was sadly mistaken. It is an expensive video to make given he had just spruced up her laptop. Is this an over-reaction, staged or good parenting?

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A video of an angry American father pumping nine slugs from a handgun into his daughter's laptop has gone viral on YouTube and sparked an impassioned online debate over his parenting skills.
Tommy Jordan, of North Carolina, explains in the video, which he titled "Facebook Parenting: for the troubled teen," that he was upset by a Facebook post by his 15-year-old daughter in which she complained about her parents.
"This is for my daughter, Hannah, and more importantly for all her friends on Facebook who thought her little rebellious post was cute," Jordan says, speaking into a video camera apparently set up on a tripod.
Wearing a cowboy hat and smoking a cigarette, the video opens with Jordan sitting in a chair and reading with unconcealed outrage from the Facebook post, in which his daughter complains about having to do chores around the house.
"Pay you for chores? Are you out of your mind?" he says. "You don't have that hard a life but you're about to."
Jordan describes the Facebook post as "disrespectful" and says he's "going to put a stop to it."
He then picks up the camera and points it at a laptop lying on the ground.
"That right there is your laptop," he says. "This right here is my .45."
Jordan then begins to pepper the laptop with bullets.
Pausing at one point, he addresses his daughter: "You have to pay me back for these too because these are about a dollar apiece."
After plugging the laptop full of holes Jordan tells his daughter "you can have a new laptop when you buy a new laptop.
"Hope you've enjoyed your little fiasco on Facebook," he concludes.
The video, which was posted to YouTube Wednesday, has attracted 2.1 million views in just two days, been "liked" around 62,000 times and "disliked" around 4,800 times.
It has also spawned a debate about Jordan's parenting style, gathering more than 36,000 comments on YouTube and thousands more on his Facebook page.
Most approve of his actions although by no means all.
"You are one very twisted dude. I hope you get some help with your anger problem before you use that gun on someone, like your daughter," wrote Jim Freedom on Facebook.
Another Facebook poster, Rachelle Tolbert, told Jordan "Great job."
"Anyone who thinks you're an awful parent is either a teen (no explanation needed there), or a parent who lets their kids walk all over them. I think your vid was effective and reasonable," Tolbert said.
"As a father of now grown children, there is very little that will get the attention of a teenage girl... I bet this has, Good job!" said Edward Harrison.

New York Knicks NBA Star Jeremy Lin Next Tim Tebow

New Asian NBA star Jeremy Lin who is a devout Christian and now famously burst onto the NBA scene from nowhere is the next hero for those Christians out there. He is the first American Chinese NBA player and a Christian so is automatically a minority. Good on him! Enjoy the fame Lin. He wasn't on a college scholarship or anything so pretty much got in the back door.

Apparently he is the third Harvard graduate to play NBA Basketball, but there have been eight Harvard graduates who have become Presidents of the USA according to TVNZ news sources!

Jeremy Lin is the biggest sensation to hit sports since Tim Tebow burst on the scene -- and wouldn't you know it ... Lin says Tebow is one of his biggest inspirations.

In case you've missed out on Linsanity -- Jeremy has come out of nowhere to be the New York Knicks starting point guard. He's scored more points in his first three career starts than any modern era NBA player ... and he's a devout Christian.

Before dropping 38 on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers last night, Lin -- who said he may become a minister after his playing days -- told 95.7 FM in San Francisco that he's inspired by and really respects Tebow.

Lin explained, "I actually want to be able to do some of the things that he does in terms of the amount of charity work and the non-profit work, and the way he impacts people off the field. I think that is what is most inspiring to me about him."

If this keeps up, church attendance is going to go through the roof.

Whitney Houston Dies Age 48 - RIP I Will Always Love You!

I am unsure how she died, but Whitney Houston made famous by the song "I Will Always Love You" and the movie The Bodyguard has died aged 48. I guess she wasn't really young, but I guess since I am getting older it is always scary to see people you grew up listening to passing away. I must admit Patrick Swayze and Michael Jackson are two other performers from a similar era who have died in recent years. The Bodyguard is often an answer to pub quiz questions.

Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at age 48, a family spokesman said on Saturday.

"Unfortunately it is true," the spokesman said.

Houston, inspired by soul singers in her New Jersey family, including mother Cissy Houston and cousins Dionne Warwick and the late Dee Dee Warwick, as well as her godmother Aretha Franklin, became one of the most celebrated female singers of all time, taking multiple Emmy, Grammy and Billboard Music awards.

Her popularity soared in the 1980s and 1990s with consecutive No. 1 hits including the smash single "I Will Always Love You," from the soundtrack of the feature film "The Bodyguard," in which she starred. The soundtrack won the 1994 Grammy for Album of the Year.

The Rock Radio Station Divorce Promotion Shocking In Most Situations

The Rock Radio Station has stirred up controversy again, with their Valentine's Day promotion where they break the news to the spouse of a winner that they are getting a divorce. This is insensitive and shocking at first glance, but I wonder in some situations if they could be doing the person a favour. What happens if the winner is a victim of violence or something else in their relationship and feels threatened by their spouse? What happens if they are actually unable to confront their partner about their divorce and this radio station is actually doing them a huge favour?

I must admit though that they probably haven't completely thought through this promotion and how sensitive the situation is. I would feel pretty gutted to find out via a radio station and I hope it remains anonymous, otherwise that would be rough. Unless it is a fake or if the couple have been waiting for ages for the official divorce and know that it is expected.

What do you think of this promotion? I think it is stupid in most cases, but could be a blessing in the odd situation. I guess it depends on how they choose the winner!

This follows the Valentine's Day promotion last year which saw a man win a trip to the Ukraine to meet a potential future wife. That is a far better prize in my opinion.

On divorce statistics, there are plenty of numbers being thrown around. What is it that they say? 50 percent of statistics are made up? Statistics are like miniskirts, what they reveal is enticing, what they conceal is vital!

Here is what Statistics New Zealand says.

Divorces

In 2010, 8,874 marriage dissolution orders were granted by the Family Court, up slightly from the 2009 total of 8,737.

In 1981, there was a sharp increase in divorces following the passing of the Family Proceedings Act 1980. This allowed for the dissolution of marriage on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. Divorces recorded a temporary high of 12,395 in 1982. Subsequently, both the number and rate of marriage dissolutions dropped, but the trend was upward again from the late 1980s to 2004. In the last decade, there has been an average of 9,800 marriage dissolutions per year, varying from 10,609 in 2004 to 8,737 in 2009.

The divorce rate (divorces per 1,000 existing marriages) was 10.2 in 2010, the same as the rate in 2009, but lower than the rate of 11.3 in 2007 and 2008. During the early 1990s, the rate fluctuated around 12.0 per 1,000, and around 12.5 during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Annual divorce statistics do not give a complete picture of the number of marriages ending in divorce. Analysis of divorce statistics by year of marriage shows that just over one-third of New Zealanders who married in 1985 had divorced before their silver wedding anniversary (25 years). For those married in 1975 and 1970, the corresponding figures were 30 and 28 percent, respectively.

A Valentine's Day promotion by an Auckland-based radio station to spring a divorce on an unsuspecting spouse has been slammed as "cowardly and disrespectful" by a relationship counselling organisation.

The Rock hosts Robert Taylor and Jono Pryor - who are also behind the aggravating Wind Up Your Wife stunts on the Drive show - are offering to "lend a helping hand" to a not-so-in-love couple on what is meant to be the most romantic day of the year.

The MediaWorks-owned station will pay for the divorce provided there are no children involved and the person being dropped only learns their relationship is over live on air.

Mary Gray, executive director of Home and Family Counselling, said the breakdown of a relationship was "no laughing matter" and should be taken seriously.

"We find the promotion a very cowardly and disrespectful response to a very serious problem between two people," she said.

"We would like to see anyone breaking off a relationship to do so with courage and respect."

The Rock station manager Brad King defended the stunt saying it was a "tongue-in-cheek promo on a male-targeted radio station".

"Last year around Valentine's Day, Robert and Jono gave away a wife - a promotion that ended up making two strangers from opposite sides of the world very happy," he said.

"It's fair to say, that particular promotion copped a bit of criticism from various minority groups, so this year Robert and Jono decided to lend a helping hand ... The other way and help out a couple who no longer want to be together."

King added that the promotion initially drew criticism from listeners, with one even accusing the "two twits" of having "zero morals".

"But since the announcement, a lot of people are genuinely interested in what is happening and are tuning in to hear how it all rolls out on Valentine's Day."

The promotion's winner, known only as "Sam" will have her true identity revealed on Tuesday.

In 2010, 8900 couples were granted a divorce in New Zealand.

Last years' Valentine's Day promotion offering listeners the chance to "win a wife" drew the wrath of a local MP.

The winner was given a 12-night stay in Ukraine, $2000 spending money and was able to choose a bride from an agency.

At the time, Green MP and social activist Sue Bradford slammed the stunt as "disturbing".

"It is unusual and somewhat disturbing that a commercial entity would commercialise what should be one of the most meaningful human relationships and actually offer it as a prize for a radio show," she said.
