Malaysia Day now a public holiday. says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Beginning next year, Sept 16, which is Malaysia Day has been declared a public holiday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the day would involve activities that would foster the 1Malaysia spirit.

He added this meant Malaysians would have a twin celebration, to commemorate the country’s independence starting next year

Najib said National Day on Aug 31 would be celebrated with formal events such as a parade to commemorate the historical moment and it would remind the people about the struggle in achieving independence from the colonists.

He made the announcement during the question-and-answer session at Parliament on Monday.

Najib said Sabah and Sarawak, which joined Malaysia in 1963 and the formation of Malaysia as an independent country was a very important moment in history.

“We want the joy and sorrows of the people in Sabah and Sarawak to be felt by the people in the Peninsula,” he said.

“Therefore, I would like to announce to the people of Malaysia that the Cabinet has recently made the decision to celebrate Hari Malaysia on Sept 16 starting 2010.”

Malaysia Day would be celebrated with events that would foster closer unity, understanding between the different races and community success and achievement through sports, social culture and arts, to spur the 1Malaysia spirit, he added.

MIRI: They have to walk two hours to school; starting at 4am and returning home at 4pm for lunch in an unbelievably hard life and heartbreaking thirst for education.

Resilient Christopher, seven, and elder sister Jeniffer, 10, have to wake up at 3am every schooling day and start walking an hour later in darkness to daylight for 20km, to reach SRK Pujut Corner. Mother Hu Bee Chu accompanies them all the way in a heart-wrenching story of tough life.

Tucked in the farmhouse, nearly 18km from the junction of Miri bypass road near the water gate of the Drainage and Irrigation Department, these two slender children have been walking to school since they first stepped into a preschool classroom.

Their heart-rending story only came to light when their father, Jang Enggan, who is unemployed, and with a partially paralysed left hand, had walked two hours from their house to take a bus to Miri City Council to meet up with Henry Jalin after hearing the later on radio talking on the urban poverty eradication programme in an interview on Thursday night.

Jang took a bunch of banana from the farm and sold it for RM6, and paid RM1 for the bus fare to meet Henry yesterday morning to relate his heart-wrenching tale.

The bus fare cost RM1.60 but because the driver knew Jang very well, he was resigned to accepting only RM1 from this poor soul.

He had to pay RM5 for his left hand’s physiotherapy at Miri hospital for an injury sustained after a fall in the work place at the army camp last July.

The trip from his home to the hospital usually takes him at least four hours as he walked all the way; stopping to take rests in between.

“I had to sell some fruits or pluck ‘midin’ (local fern) to sell to get some money today (yesterday). I had to do it because I wanted very much to meet Henry,” he said.

Miri City Caring Society (MCCS) was notified, and the relevant facts and documents to ascertain the help needed by this family, including a visit to their farmhouse where an oil palm plantation company has claimed rights of ownership, were put together.

Jang and his family were formerly living in their squatter house at Pujut Corner before a major fire struck and destroyed it with many others in 1998.

“The authorities told us that there are no more resettlement lots, and offered us low-cost flat to buy, but I had no money and had no choice but to move to our farm hut and their mother had to walk the children to school and back,” he sighed.

Christopher and Jeniffer had to miss one week of school this year due to flood.

“Let me tell you, our children have not missed even a single day of school without any good reason,” the mother said. Strangely, the family never received any flood relief assistance.

Christopher and Jeniffer have other siblings, including eldest brother Edward Jarau, 23, who is already away trying to make a living; Augustine, 14, who is studying in Sri Aman with the help of the Welfare Department; and a 19-year-old sister who has run away from home 10 years ago.

With them in the farmhouse is William Wat, 16, who does odd jobs to help support their schooling. William himself left school after completing Primary 6.

Jang worries about his future when his farm and shelter are gone when the plantation arrives at his footstep as some farms in the area are already affected.

MCCS chairman Pemanca Wilson Siang and his committee met yesterday over the case, and they have decided that MCCS will assist in liaising with the relevant authorities for the appropriate assistance for the family.

“Education is the most important thing for the two younger children, and perhaps getting them into a boarding school may be the answer while the family may have no home soon if the plantation comes in,” said Wilson.

Meanwhile, Jalin said the council would identify the form of assistance, which could be channelled to the family while MCCS will bring up the matter with the relevant authorities.

Chiken Ang Chow

Lama dah saya tak masak. Tau tau la kerja kat hotel, Lepas tu pulak dah ada anak satu. Terkejar kejar ke hulu ke hilir. Bantai ikan bilis pun jadilah.

Tapi, itu dulu sedikit. Dah dua bulan tak kerja hotel. Sekarang ni kerja opis hour. Baaaanyak masa cooking. Saturday sunday tak kerja. Jadi full time suri rumah lah konon. Busu habis. Bangun seawal pukul 6. Basuh baju, susukan anak, kemas bilik tidur, mandikan anak, jemur baju, kemaskan rumah, sediakan brekpas untuk anak buah dah penghuni lain....

Paling awal dapat siap... pukul 11 pagi. Nasib baiklah anak buah yang darjah 4 tu pandai tolong jaga Rado.

Sabtu lepas, untuk dinner, saya ada masak Chiken Ang Chow. Ang Chow nie adalah sejenis "baki" arak cina yang kaler merah tu. So, mungkin benda ni tak halal. Benda ni ada dijual kat Tamu Cina.

Bahan - Bahan

1 ekor ayam (badan) - potong sesuka hati
3 ulas bawang putih - dicincang
3 sudu makan Ang Chow
1 biji bawang besar - potong suka hati
1 sudu makan kicap
4 cm Halia - dihiris halus halus
1 sudu makan - gula
garam + MSG - secukup rasa

1) Potong bahan di atas
2) Campurkan ayam, kicap dan Ang Chow - perap selama satu jam

2) Goreng halia hingga kekuningan,
3) masukkan bawang putih dan bawang besar

4) kecilkan api, masukkan ayam yang sudah diperap

5) kacau, kacau, kacau 15 menit- **Ang Chow mudah hangus

6) tambah secawan air

6) biarkan mendidih & sehingga air berkurangan.

7) Tambah gula, garam + MSG - makanan cina, tak sah kalau takder MSG

8) dah masak dah...

9) Kalau nak Ang Chow yang berkuah, tambah secawan air dan tunggu mendidih.

Tahun ini, saya adalah antara insan yang buat pertama kali menyambut Fathers Day sebagai seorang ayah. Keluaga Qino celebrate Fathers day, so saya tupang ekaki ler.

Antara "bapa" yang ada kat situ time tu adalah saya sendiri, bapa Qino dan bapa Wat. Jadi share share ler kek yang satu tu.

Peter sponsor barang2 untuk BBQ seperti babi, ayam, ikan pari dan buah terung. Ada jugak beer dan tuak.

Arghhh... best jugak jadi bapak. Walupun bersengkang mata jaga Rado yang tak mahu tidur. Tapi tak terasa bila dah tengok muka dia. Dan malam tadi Rado cukp sporting. Tidur lena sampai ke pagi.

I am Resign

Its not something that we always did in our life. For me, this is the second time. My second employment was on the contract terms. And also, I have been written this kind of letter many many if not hundreds time oledi. But for my friends la. This time it is for me.

Yesterday, after going back from dinner, I decide to put off my current employment. For good, for me and the most, for my son Rado.

This morning, as I type my resignations letter, I feel sad because I will leaving this company soon. Well, its 30 days notice actually. I have been here for 7 years. But its life. Everything has its ending.

In less than a minutes after I handed my letter, my superior put his signature on it. My employer accept my resignation.

So, on 17th June 2009 - 5.01pm Local Time, or Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 09:01:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) I am no longer staff of Mega Hotel Miri.

While googling around for sample letter, I found these sample - I really hope I can use one and submit. But I dont.

KUALA LUMPUR: Nearly two years ago, single mother Serena Merang left Miri for Kuala Lumpur with one of her twin daughters in a last-ditch attempt to save the nine-year-old’s life.

Serena, 28, boarded a flight for the first time, together with Tracy Thomas, whose kidneys were failing.

Also on board were Tracy’s twin sister Stephanie and two-year-old brother Vanes Gary.

Just two weeks earlier, Tracy had been diagnosed with kidney failure by the Miri Hospital. She was then referred to the Paediatric Institute at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on June 4, 2007.

A few months later, Serena’s other twin daughter was also struck with kidney failure.

The twins, standing at 107cm and weighing slightly over 14kg now (which is equivalent to the height and size of a regular six-year-old), are suffering from end-stage kidney failure due to genetic reasons.

They need to stay here because they require dialysis treatment daily to stay alive.

Back in Miri, they do not have access to the medical facilities like the one provided by the Paediatric Institute.

Besides, the twins are also on the waiting list for kidney transplant – which would give them a chance to have a new lease of life.

As for Serena, she is staying put in Kuala Lumpur to look after the girls and be their pillar of strength.

“I do not have extra money to spare,” she said with a calm voice and the girls often go to school without pocket money.

Serena’s day starts with preparing both girls for school.

She would then take a short nap before starting housework because she had been staying up the whole night adjusting the dialysis machine for her daughters.

“I am a bit free once they start dialysis at 7.30pm,” she said, adding that her son is now being cared for by her father in Miri.

Last September, her husband walked out on their marriage.

Serena, who was staying with her husband’s relative in Shah Alam, then moved out from the house with her three children.

Her younger brother left home in Miri to work in a factory in Shah Alam and stays with them, providing some financial support.

He pays half the rent while the other half is paid by the Mercy Church in Batu Tiga. The church also sends groceries to her.

Serena has no idea how long she will be staying in Kuala Lumpur.

Asked if she ever felt tired, Serena just gave a broad smile, nodded and said life has to go on.

Keep a syringe or needle in your home to do this... It's amazing and an unconventional way of recovering from stroke, read it through it can help somebody one day.

This is amazing. Please keep this very handy. Excellent tips. Do take a minute to read this. You'll never know. One's life may depend on you.

“My father was paralyzed and later died from the result of a stroke. I wish I knew about this first aid before. When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain will gradually burst." said Irene Liu.

When a stroke occurs, stay calm. No matter where the victim is, do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst. Help the victim to sit up where he is to prevent him from falling over again, and then the blood-letting can begin. If you have in your home an injection syringe that would be the best, otherwise, a sewing needle or a
straight pin will do.

1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it, and then use it to
prick the tip of all 10 fingers.

2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about a mm
from the fingernail.

3. Prick till blood comes out.

4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.

5. When all 10 digits is bleeding, wait a few minutes then the victim
will regain consciousness.

6. If the victim's mouth is crooked, then pull on his ears until they
are red.

7. Then prick each ear lobe twice until two drops of blood comes from
each ear lobe. After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.

Wait till the victim regain his normal state without any abnormal
symptoms then take him to the hospital, otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst. If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the grace of his ancestors.

" I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional doctor Ha Bu-Ting who lives in Sun-Juke. Furthermore, I had practical experience with it. Therefore I can say this method is 100% effective.”
“In 1979, I was teaching in Fung-Gaap College in Tai-Chung. One afternoon I was teaching class when another teacher came running to my class room and said, panting, "Ms. Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a stroke!"

“I immediately went to the 3rd floor. When I saw our supervisor, Mr.Chen Fu-Tien, his color was off, his speech was slurred, his mouth was crooked-all the symptoms of a stroke. I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen's 10 fingers tips. When all 10
fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen's face regained its color and his eyes' spirit returned, too. But his mouth was still crooked. So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood. When his ears became red, I pricked his right earlobe twice to let out 2 drops of blood. When both earlobes
had two drops of blood each, a miracle happened. Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear.

We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea, then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei-Wah Hospital . He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.”

“Everything worked normally. There were no ill after-effects. On the otherhand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital. As a result, these victims never recover.- " said Irene Liu.

Therefore stroke is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralyzed for life. It is such a horrible thing to happen in one's life. If we can all remember this bloodletting method and start the life-saving process immediately, in
a short time, the victim will be revived and regain 100% normality.

Projek terbaru saya, IbanWiki sedang dalam proses pembikinan. IbanWiki adalah laman Wiki atau Ensiklopedia Iban Bebas. Laman ini bukan menggunakan Bahasa Iban, tetapi akan menggunakan Bahasa Inggeris kerana agak sukar untuk membuat terjemahan frasa ke dalam Bahasa Iban.

Objektif utama IbanWiki adalah untuk membuat satu ensiklopedia agar erti dan pemahaman untuk Bahasa Iban lebih mudah diakses melalui internet. Selain itu saya tidak ingin Bahasa Iban akan hilang ditelan zaman. Terlalu ramai bangsa Iban yang tidak faham dan keliru dengan bahasa sendiri ekoran persamaan sebutan dengan Bahasa Melayu.

Saya bukanlah pakar dalam Bahasa Iban ataupun mana - mana bahasa di dunia ini. Sungguh. Oleh itu, saya menjemput professional di dalam bidang linguistik Bahasa Iban untuk tampil membantu saya. Dan sebeb itulah saya menggunakan perisian Media Wiki, kerana perisian ini membenarkan sesiapa sahaja untuk memperkayakan laman ini nanti.

Buat masa ini, IbanWiki sudahpun online di laman percubaan. Sekiranya berminat untuk melihat perkembangannya, sila hubungi saya. Last sunday, pada 12 October 2008..

Ada jemputan dari Banquet Imperial Mall untuk sama - sama enjoying and know each other. Walaupun aku nie bukan dari FnB, tapi aku nie kerja hari hari ngan mereka. So aku kena jemput sama la.

Kerana tak nak malu, kami dari Mega colect RM10 satu orang. Beli Lamb Chop dan sausge jer. Samer ngan soft drink. Asalnya nak buat kat Taman Awam. Tapi tukar tempat lah pulak.

Hotel yang ikut adalah Imperial Hotel and Suite sebagai Host, Mega Hotel, Mariott Hotel and Spa dan Dynasty Hotel. Grand Palace tak dapat ekot di saat aher. Ader function.

Ahernya... selepas lebih 2 minggu berkoding koding, mykgm.net hampir siap dan buat masa ini sudah berfungsi sepenuhnya.

Saya menggunakan Board3 sebagai laman portal untuk phpbb3. Seterusnya saya akan install photo gallery dan shoutbox seperti yang direquest oleh Sam.

Buat masa nie KGM belum lagi mempunyai nama rasmi. Masih pikir pikir deh. Nama yang lama tu obvious sangat. Tapi motto nya tetap sama, Kuat::Gagah::Menyampah.

Ada jugak terfikir beberapa nama. Tunggu tanyak budak2 lok.

Brengsek RTM. Ngapain ya tiba tiba Cinderella ditukar dengan sinetron lain. Baru aja Siri 100.. Kalo nggak silap, semuanya 150 episod.

Brengsek banget. TV di Malaysia emangnya selalu berantakan. Nggak bebas.

Selepas hampir setahun ditinggalkan. Saya berhasrat menyambung kembali projek portal mykgm. Antara sebab pengangguhan kerana terpaksa menunggu skrip untuk PHBB3 seperti phpbbb fetchall.

Ternyata sia - sia saja saya menunggu. Beberapa skirp yang mirip phpbb ftchall amat mengecewakan. Skrip seperti Phpbb Portal http://www.phpbb3portal.com/ amat rumit untuk di install.

Saya berhasrat untuk mencuba MK portal. Menurut mereka, MK Portal mampu beroperasi sebagai portal untuk beberapa bulletin board seperti

Google + (Apple + Mozilla) VS Microsoft

Google tumpang sekaki nak lawan Microsoft. Beberapa hari lalu, Google menerbitkan perisian baru. Google Chrome. Perisian browser seperti Firefox dan Safari. Dengan lebih tepat lagi, Internet Explorer akan berebut pasaran dengan Open Source Software.

Google mengikut jejak langkah Apple untuk menggunakan Webkit untuk membangunkan chrome. Sementara Firefox menggunakan Gecko.

Kebayakkan laman blog dan reviu yang dibuat rata rata menyatakan Chrome lebih laju dari browse lain. Aku baru hari ni pakai. Memang terasa laju. Dari Kajian yang aku buat, capaikan ke http://rumahdayak.com adalah seperti berikut
