My customer, who’s doing a long-term review of a Nissan LEAF for us, told me the other day that Tesla had a $698/month lease deal going right now. She apparently heard this from someone she recently met at a charging station.

In the presence of the $60,000 NSX, the self-important air-puffed mediocrities of the eroti-car industry scurried for cover. The owner of the first 2017 Acura NSX off the production line is still a mystery, and it will remain that way until the last week of January. That's because the car isn't already promised to anybody. Instead, it'll be heading to auction, and all the proceeds from the sale will go right to charity. That's much cooler than handing it off to some celebrity.

There was that coupe with the V-10 in its big schnoz screaming around the Nürburgring in 2008. Corporate canned it later that year, figuring out something that Toyota never did during development of the Lexus LFA: An interstellar unicorn that is seriously into six figures will do little for a brand that sells most of its vehicles for less than $50,000. Customers can start placing NSX orders on February 25.For less money than either of these cars, the NSX delivers ... less. Total system output is 573 hp. It has a slight edge in gear count, at nine speeds, and should beat the R8 to 60 mph. But there's no V10, let alone Ferrari's feral turbocharged V8. It'll be up to buyers to determine if the compromises involved are worth a few thousand dollars in savings, if no options are selected.

Swap to Corsa mode and the shifts become lightning fast—and hit-by-a-bus brutal. The happy medium lives in Sport mode, where the shifts are quick enough to be comfortable, but not so violent. Cycling those same modes also helps its ride smooth out: it's always rather stiff, but not always objectionably so.

Both cars are incredible machines, and therefore BMW needed to refresh the M3 in addition to the changes made to the regular 3-series for 2016.The M3 is both a yardstick and a target, considerably different from its predecessors, but with a clear heritage of performance. It boasts an aggressive face, a turbocharged six-cylinder engine, a rigid and relatively lightweight chassis, and, most importantly, some astonishing performance.

BMW has been out testing the revised M3 for quite some time now, using plenty of camouflage to cover some of its body panels. Unfortunately, the camo proved to be just a way to build some hype around the 2016 M3, which received only a handful of updates inside and out. In Sport Mode the petrol engine is on all the time and the battery is recharged to offer additional power at the top of the rev range – the so called boost. I took the car into the dealership and they fixed what they could but I was told by American Honda the seat belts were mounted differently on these 2 models- so stupid!!! You'd think since you are paying more for a Touring it would have the better features in seat belts? WRONG! The passenger seat belt is 4 inches off from the drivers side, my husbands knees hit the dash on the drivers side but not the passengers side (yes the seat is all the way back), and the seat belt barely fits him (he is a bigger guy, broader shoulder guy) on the drivers side but every other seat belt in the vehicle, he can buckle just fine and not be "locked up". His brother is 6'6 and doesn't fit comfortably in the car either. We are already looking to trade it in within a year. Not the comfort we test drove in July.
The big Honda clearly is aimed at folks whose motoring agendas include lots of hauling. It can tow—up to 5000 pounds with all-wheel drive, 3500 with front-drive. But more often than not, the payloads entail kids. We probably don’t really need to add that even though minivans are superior in almost all aspects of family hauling, Pilot prospects would rather donate their kids to science than be seen in something with those telltale sliding side doors. As the owner of both a high-end European sports car, and a Comfortable full sized SUV, I didn't even want to look at the Honda Pilot. I was looking at Range Rovers, BMWs, Mercedes, Toyotas, and a host of other vehicles that I thought would be more to my liking. I nearly barfed when I saw Honda's advertising for this vehicle, which was such a turnoff it took me an extra week to drag myself down to the Honda dealership. I'm not a middle aged formerly cool guy who's trying to recapture my youth and now realizing I have to capitulate to living vicariously though my children in order to realize the dreams I used to have before the perils of marriage, parenthood and middle age robbed them from me Honda. That's basically just offensive. After I got over the advertising, I did manage to test drive this car. And it's actually a really good ride. It's got a fairly good technology package (though nobody is doing it like Tesla, and Honda needs to be more aggressive in pushing OTA updates and whatnot), incredibly comfortable seats, and everything just makes sense. I've been in every other vehicle in it's class, and it's the best one by a mile, plus it's really quiet. I did NOT like the 2wd version the pilot, because it has significant body flex and actually wasn't that hard to squeal the tires coming out of parking lots (minivan style). Things are thought out, just work, etc.

That displacement is familiar—the previous Pilot powerplant also was a 3.5 V-6—but the new engine essentially is the same as that used by the Acura MDX, and direct fuel injection gives it a 30-hp edge over its predecessor. While you’ll be unsurprised to learn that 60 percent of buyers have already owned at least one Ferrari, the revelation is that 90 percent of them will be what Ferrari terms “Spider-only” customers, unwilling to even consider a supercar with a fixed roof. There are, it transpires, two very different tribes of 488 owners. GTB buyers want to drive their car solo and are far more likely to take them on track, while Spider purchasers usually drive with the roof down and a partner in the passenger seat.
