However, you might want to read the next verse.

Sometimes we shouldn't take verses out of context.

Fun Fri~ The Making of QOV 250 Anniversary Panel Quilt w/ Four Patch Border

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 16 Oct 2026 19:54:10 +0000

I cannot remember the last quilt I put together other than the hand pieced hexie baby quilt I made recently for my great grand daughter.

It's probably been 5 years since I put together a quilt, because I'm coming up on the 5th year anniversary of Mr. G leaving this earth and me.

I got to the point where I couldn't stand at the cutting table long enough to cut a quilt. So I finally asked my QOV friend if she would design and cut a quilt for me. Let me tell you, she did a fantastic job. She basically handed me a kit ready to sew together. This was a game changer for me. I spent 3 days putting this quilt top together. I really enjoyed my time. Thank you Patty Gibian for designing and cutting out this quilt for me.

This is the machine set up downstairs. In its day, it was a top notch machine. The bobbin self winds in the bobbin case and the machine threads from the top down through the needle. I bought it because it claimed to use a spool of thread as a bobbin. Turns out that's for embroidery only. Why in the world can't machines be made to use a spool of thread as a bobbin thread, especially this one?

This machine doesn't not have an auto lift foot like my big Janome upstairs, so it slows me down a bit when piecing.

I enjoy my quick set up in the dining area between the kitchen and living room. I use this on days it's way too hot or cold to change the temperature upstairs just to work a few hours.

This quilt has since come back from the long arm quilter and binded by yours truly. The quilt will be shown after it's awarded in November.

Tuesday Tutorial~ 2026 Grand Daughter #1 Bday Card

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 22 Sep 2026 12:00:00 +0000

...

This year's landmark for my Grand Daughter was her move from teaching second grade to third which included physically moving her room. Something elementary teachers have to deal with throughout their career vs high school teachers most likely stay in the same room for years unless they move schools.

Thoughtful & Throw Back Thurs: Flat Bowl Holders

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 20 Aug 2026 12:00:00 +0000

A friend's daughter was getting married, so I wanted to make a gift for her new home. Went back to the "Flat Bowl Holders" that I designed to take up less space in storage, but do the same job as the stiff bowl holders. A plus is they can be used as a hot pad to set a dish/pot on.

So of course as I was making these, I had to record a photo diary. EnJOY!

From April 16, 2016

I had to start by "franken" scrap cotton batting together.

Used 12.5 inch squares.

Preparing lining

I made 4 of them.
