My Wish List #1

I haven't written a wish list post since before Christmas and I am also not sure just how popular they are with everyone but I thought today was a good day to do one. I have been trying to shop a little less as I do spend a little too much money sometimes and as I am currently looking for a car I know I will need a lot of money to run it. However I have been working quite a lot and I still have some money left over from my birthday last month so I am hoping to go shopping this week.

1. MAC Face & Body- everyone raves about this foundation so I think its about time I purchase it and give it a go myself, hopefully it will work on to use on my neck when my fake tan isn't perfect too.

2. MAC Eyeshadow- I have wanted Woodwinked & Cranberry for a while but they seem to always be sold out, I'm hoping this time they'll be in stock!

3.Bag from Warehouse (here)-I know I have some Warehouse money to spend and this bag really caught my eye

4. Topshop Jumper(here)- If there is one thing I need in my wardrobe at the moment it is tops, I had a few for the winter which I basically lived in but after three months of essentially living in them I need some more! I love this one from Zara too, have you seen any nice ones about?

5.100 Years of Fashion Illustration

6. Real Technique brushes- I have two & they are amazing, I need more! I will write a review on the two I have very soon.

7. YSL Shocking- I have wanted this for the longest time and now that I finally have lots of Boots points I will be picking this up at a counter! Can't not wait to own this baby!

17 Va Va Voom

Now I am not sure what the french for Va Va Voom (Thierry Henry Va Va Voom Advert) but this Boots 17 Mascara has it. I'm not keen on the name or packaging as it all seems a bit dated, the name remind me of the advert and the packaging of the (rather horrible) Louis Vuitton Graffiti bag but all that aside I think its a great mascara.

The brush is big, actually very big and I am sure its not too everyone's taste, it makes applying the mascara quite difficult and messy but the final result is worth it. My lashes look thicker but partiuclarly longer and it really does give that false lash effect which I never believe a mascara can actually do. It is buildable and I would apply another coat or two if I was going out but for day time two coats adds enough Va Va Voom for me. Unlike some mascaras my lashes still looked like hair instead of looking crispy and then potentially flaking.

If you like big brushes you'll love this mascara!

Models Own Wah Nail Art Pen

I am quite keen on Nail Art and as soon as I heard about the Wah Nails and Models Own collaboration I was really excited, however I didn't actually pick one up until recently.

In the past I had tried pens similar to this and always been disappointed, the needle end was never as fantastic as I had hoped until this nail polish came along. It is just perfect for any kind of nail art you may have in mind and it makes everything so simple and easy! I have seen a few other colours on blogs but am struggling to find any, also my one seems to be significantly smaller than some others that I have seen.
Its fabulous nonetheless.

LFWE With Elizabeth Arden

On Saturday I was kindly invited to join Elizabeth Arden at London Fashion Weekend for the second season. LFWE is a designer shopping event which is held after LFW at Somerset house, most clothes are highly discounted. There is also fun things to see and do such as the catwalk show, talks and make overs.

I actually didn't buy anything, there was nothing that really caught my eye and everything is still quite pricey but I did have a fab time. I took my younger cousin as I know she is quite into fashion as well, we both got our makeup done by some of the girls on the Elizabeth Arden counter, watched a great talk about the beauty trends for S/S 2012 from the ELLE Beauty Editor and watched the catwalk show.

The makeup on the catwalk was by Elizabeth Arden, the models wore quite dark purple shadows, nude lips, bronzed cheeks with beautifully highlighted skin which really mirrors the Elizabeth Arden new collection (which I will talk about soon)

I didn't wear anything special but I thought I would show you, the sun was really bright and that's why I am squinting.

17 Supreme Shine Lipstick

I have three pretty and affordable lipsticks which will help you get your makeup bag ready for spring, they are the Boots 17 Supreme Shine Lipsticks. These are quite spoken about in the blogging world and I can see why...

The three colours I have are Barely Blush, If You Please and Hot Flash
They come in standard packaging however the consistency is creamy with a subtle and very flattering shine. I found that the two brighter shades If You Please and Hot Flash last slightly longer on the lips and Barely Blush needs to be applied a little more. They are reasonably sheer but can be applied to get an opaque colour which allows them to be versatile.

The images didn't turn out quite as true to life as I had hoped...
Barely Blush is a natural blush pink, perfect for everyday or to pair with a dramatic eye
If You Please It looks like it's going to be extremely hot pink, instead is a more wearable but still bright pink
Hot Flash A dark coral that is essential for the summer

The colour range is quite good with 12 different colours that range from red, nudes and even lilac ones. I think I will get lots of wear out of these as soon as the weather heats up and I might even have to pick up a few other colours that have caught my eye!

London Fashion Week

Wednesday saw the end of London Fashion week, I was lucky enough to see a couple of shows and have a few added extras on top. I wasn't planning to actually go however The Body Shop kindly invited me to go and see some shows which they were doing the makeup for at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue.

The first show was Fam Irvoll, she is from Norway but actually graduated from Central Saint Martins, the show was amazing and really different to most shows you would see at LFW. It was playful and colour as was the makeup, I did doubt that The Body Shop had such bright colours and was right. The brighter colours were actually paints although some of the blues were from TBS range.

I then got to see the Krystof Strazyna Ready-to-wear collection which was made up largely of stunning dresses, trousers and blouses. Unlike Fam Irvoll, Strazyna played it save and the makeup was also more wearable. The skin was bronzed and contoured, a graphic eye look and a pretty nude Body Shop lipstick.

I also got a haircut and blow dry at the Toni & Guy Blow Out lounge, it was one of my favourite haircuts and blow drys that I have had in a while. Sadly I have no photos of it as I then got a massage at the Handpicked Media LFW Lounge which flattened my hair quite a bit but was also fabulous!

Stargazer 503

I have seen a few post about Stargazer polishes but have actually not tried any and if I am totally honest I am quite unsure where I would even buy them.

I got this colour in a goody bag and is completely my sort of colour, I love cream pale pinks. This is quite a blue toned one so I think would look nicer with tanned hands. It applied quite well needing only two coats for an opaque and flawless colour- it lasted a few days with only tip wear and no chipping.

Have you tried any Stargazer polishes?

Favourite Nail Products

Sadly I haven't been blessed with great skin or hair and the only decent thing I really is my nails, they are strong, grow long and I often get asked if they are in fact real. I have never worn fake nails and I think that is one of the reasons why my own nails are in a decent state but there aer a few nail essentials I think everyone should try.

No7 So Smooth & No7 So Strong
Buying a base coat has always seemed like a waste of money but I do love these two, if you have weaker nail the So Strong is essential and if not I love the So Smooth and they're both even better when bought with a No7 £5 off voucher!

Boot Cuticle Remover
I don't think this cuticle remover is particularly amazing but is the only one I have at the moment, it makes removing your cuticles far easier and I try to use it every couple of weeks (although I should probably use it more.) This product is much better then just cutting cuticles as that can damage the nail and cause bacteria to enter the nail.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
My favourite nail product of all has to be the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, I am not the most patient person so this is essential to me, it drys you nails withing 30 seconds, leaving them looking perfect and glossy.

Diego Dalla Palma Lipsticks

This review is long over due as I first previewed the range a while before it hit stores. I still think the range is pricey but I have formed a close relationship with one lipstick in particular.
As you can see I own four lipsticks by the Italian brand Diego Dalla Palma, the colours in white packaging are from the classic range and the black one is anti-ageing.
Packaging wise I think they look okay, white to me will always be tacky and I much prefer the black ones, the shape of them also means they stand up making them very easy to store.

I actually think these lipsticks are quite nice- they pigmentation is good and they don't feel drying which is the main this I expect from a lipstick. They aren't the longest lasting lipstick but I really love 76, it has a glossy finish and is very easy to wear. It is a very natural colour that makes your teeth look whiter, it has made its way into my hand bag as a daily essential.

These lipsticks are pricey at £14 and although I wouldn't buy many more I would repurchase number 76 and recommend having a look next time you're in a Tescos that sell them, they are also available online

MUA & Love Hearts

Last week I went to the launch of MUA and Love Hearts collaboration which includes tinted lip balms and some nail polishes.

The lip balms are vanilla scented and a little similar to the Sleek ones but with slightly less colour, the packaging however is really cute!

The tried the nail polish U ROK which is a fabulous colour but left me disappointed, the brush was pretty horrible and application was very difficult, I would still be tempted to try the other polishes as I do really love the colours.

Valentines Nails with Myleene Klass

I have been waiting to use these heart nail wraps by Myleene Klass for a while and I thought today (and tomorrow) would be the perfect day!

They were as easy to apply as any other nail wraps and I love that they even come with a nail file! They are also slightly thinner than Nail Rock Nail wraps so are more comfortable. They also come with 24 different sizes which I think is a little wasteful, I have quite big nails but some of the larger sizes just too big and there are too many of then.

They have been on all day and I have even washed my hair with them on and they still look great!

I always get a lot of questions about how to apply nail wraps so I will do a post soon.

Travalo

The Travalo has been around for a while now and has received a lot of talk on Youtube and blogs, it is a refillable travel perfume atomizer. I believe the one I have is the standard size one with 50 spray capacity although there is a larger one. I think the smaller one makes more sense, after all you are travelling with it.

They also come in a variety of colours.

To feel the Travalo there is a patented pump-action filling system unlike all other perfume atomisers. The Travalo fills directly from most fragrance bottles which have a removable spray head.
It even has a window to show you just how full your Travalo actually is, it is also a great size to travel abroad with especially with liquid restrictions.

I have found that the pump has began to leak a little although the outer packaging means it doesn't leak into my bag, other then that I think this is a fabulous product!

Big Skincare Mystery

I am a little late with sharing this post but better late then never, right?

A while ago I received an unbranded PR sample which is a new high-street 2-in-1 cleansing facial wash and a 3 minute mask. It will be revealed on March 1st which brand actually make the product.

I haven't really taken the time to try and find out who the company actually is but I am quite excited to find out.

As a cleanser I think this is nothing special but I love it as a mask! It is a 3 minute mask, so quick and easy. After the 3 minutes my skin looked lovely and smooth with no redness, I would repurchase this to use as a mask!

IMATS Haul Video

On Saturday, in the freezing cold weather I went to IMATS in Alexandra Palace- for those of you that don't know IMATS is the International Makeup Trade Show which is held every year in 6 different cities worldwide. I was luckily given a press pass which was really good as tickets are about £45 and the venue is only round the corner from my boyfriends house so I got a lift there (after 30mins of faffing about with the car and removing all the ice.) I really enjoyed my time however if I had to buy my own ticket I may not have gone as I am only buying makeup for myself but if you are a makeup artist then it is worth going as most brands have great discounts.

IMATS does get quite busy so going along early is a great idea, when I arrived at 9am is was basically empty. Watch the video below to see what I purchased, please excuse the mess I thought it wasn't in shot!
It is a long one-I talk way too much!

Amarya Natural & Organic Beauty Box

Amarya is a website which sells Organic and Natural Beauty products from brands such as NEOM, Zoya and Ren. I was sent their December beauty box to try out which I was very excited about.

Before lifting the lid of the box I noticed that the quality as good as all the other boxes I have seen, this is no better then a cheap shoe box.

Inside the December box there is a full size REN Grapefruit & Neroli Gift set, Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream (trial size) and Acorelle Eau de Parfum (sample), usually there is five samples within the Beauty Boxes so I was surprised by the lack of products.

I was very impressed by the REN Gift set which includes two large products however I will never use the other two products.

This box isn't for me, it is aimed at people who love natural and organic beauty products and I personally don't really mind. However although I wouldn't ever subscribe to this beauty box, I do think it is a great idea especially if you love organic beauty products. If you only use natural beauty products the other beauty boxes I have come across would not be suitable for you so this is a perfect alternative (although I wish it were in a nicer reusable box!)

This box is available to buy for £20 however I subscription works out at only £10 a box.

L'oreal It's All In The Eyes

I love dark eyeliner and layers of mascara so when I heard about the three new eye product L'oreal were releasing I couldn't help but be very interested. Set to release this month L'oreal has a new liquid eyeliner, gel eyeliner and mascara the promotional images have Cheryl Cole all over them but I actually quite like them.

False Lash Telescopic Mascara

I always think you are either a Maybelline mascara fan or a L'oreal fan, for me L'oreal wins. The False Lash Telescopic mascara is suppose to be similar to the original Telescopic mascara which is a favourite with many people I know. In all honesty I know I have tried Telescopic in the past and even repurchased it but I can't remember too much about it in order to compare them. I do think my mascara tastes have changed recently and I know prefer a more traditional mascara wand to the rubber ones like this one. I find the thinner rubber mascara wands have sharper bristle which can often irritate my eye if I accidentally rub it along my lash line.

Spiky-ness aside I do like this mascara- the size of the brush gives you lots of control meaning it is quick and easy to apply. The colour is very black like I expect from all my mascaras and the final look is volumised, thick lashes.

Super Liner Gel Intenza
I love the packaging on the new L'oreal Gel Eyeliner, it looks far more expensive then any other ones which I have tried. It is in a clear glass tub (don't know what else to call it) with a gold screw on lid, looks like packaging you would see on a higher end counter. It also comes with a good brush which is a nice length to carry around but still allow you to have control over your eyeliner. I have only tried this on the lash line and it is extremely creamy, black and lasted a good amount of time. I am sure this will quickly become my favourite pharmacy gel eyeliner.

Super Liner Perfect Slim
My favourite eyeliner as many of you may already know is the L'oreal Carbon Gloss however I was quite excited to try this liquid liner. Usually I don't like the pen eyeliner as I feel the line isn't quite as black as I would like and I feel that this one also fits into that category, although it is darker then many I have tried. The great thing about this mascara is how thin the nib actually is, its perfect for cat eyes and detailed eyeliner work.

Nail Rock Meadham Kirchhoff

A couple of days ago at the Missguided event (more on that very soon) they were offering Nail Rocks Nail Wraps and how could I say now. Their Spring Summer collection looks fab and features some great new patterns and some really unusual ones.

I went for the Meadham Kirchhoff nail wraps, which are actually yet to be released and consist of ten different images of cartoon, dolls, Teddies and even a ladies bits. I got them applied at the event but I have applied them various times myself (I think I usually apply them a little better then this too) and they are super easy to apply since they no longer require heat!

Due to the fact I can't go to work with ladies bits on my nails this print was missed out as were two of the other ones as they didn't fit on my nails quite as well.

I literally love these nail wraps and are by far my favourites, I love that they are all different. However they aren't out yet but will be only available at TopShop when they do finally come out.

I also had a look at the Eye Rock eye tattoos which I had never seen before they look really interesting but I would imagine they are quite hard to work.

Eyeko Curvy Brush Mascara

As I am sure many of you know Eyeko now only sells eye products such as mascara and eyeliner, which although means we no longer get the nail polishes and other product does make total sense for a brand called 'Eyeko'. A while back I was invited to their offices to have a look at their 'mascara wardrobe' which consist of three different mascaras, with three different brushes to achieve a three different looks. There is a Skinny Brush for 'tall and long' lashes, a Curvy brush for 'Curl & Hold' as well as a Fat brush for 'Big & Bold' Lashes

Today I am talking about the Curvy Brush for 'Curl & Hold' which has a quite unusual brush which looks like three circles. It has Shea butter and keratin which helps condition the lashes and the shape of the brush helps hold the curl and define the lashes.

If you do want drama then this mascara isn't enough for you however it does define and curl your lashes for a natural look. I like the shape of the brush as it allows you to grip all your lashes and the size gives you a lot of control.

The mascara also comes with a guitar pick which is suppose to be placed above your eye to avoid getting any of the mascara on your eyelid, personally I would never use this, it may be useful for a makeup artist but far too much work for me on a day to day basis.

This mascara (and all other Eyeko products) is available from Harvey Nichols, the Eyeko Website and ASOS for a pretty pricey £15, I personally think this mascara isn't worth the money however I will be reviewing the rest of the Eyeko Mascaras very soon so keep an eye out!

IMATS 2012

Tomorrow is the first day of IMATS London 2012 (for the general public), the International Makeup Artistry Trade Show which lasts two days and will take place in London's Alexandra Palace. As Sunday is my Birthday I will be attending just on Saturday and hope to be there before 8.30am.

I have never been before and am not sure what to expect, I am sure that it will be quite packed and that there will be some great brands showcasing their amazing talents. I have a few things which I know I want to pick up already such as a MUFE mascara and quite a few makeup brushes, most people get really excited about OCC lip tars however I think I wont pick any up.

Quick Post

Just a super quick post to let you know that my blog is being adjusted at the moment and therefore (as you can see) is a mess. I am struggling to make it small enough so that people with small screens can view the entire blog without making it very small for everyone else.

Any tips would be extremely appreciated!

Glossy Box Valentines Special 2012

I was very excited to have the Valentines Special Glossy Box especially as it's hot pink, I always get excited when GlossyBox changed the colour of their boxes for a special occasion.

The packaging on the inside was also really pretty, I like the cute pink heart and I love that the ribbon is grey and not pink as well.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner
This product caught my eye first as it is one of the brands I know the most about from the whole box. Its a full size eyeliner which is one of the products from the re-brand of Eyeko. I got it in the colour Emerald green and it has led me to want to try some more. I will hopefully be able to review a few of them very soon.
Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream & Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream
These Clarins creams added little value to my Glossy Box as they are aimed at an older audience however some people received a Davines cleanser and moisturiser which I would have been very happy with.
FAB Gentle Body Wash
I don't often use these little body washes however I think if you travel a lot or stay over at friends houses these are perfect sizes to carry around with you, I am yet to try this one but I do love the packaging.
Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer
I was very happy to see the primer in my box and I tried it straight away, I am going to continue trying it and it is one I would consider buying in full size.

Overall I think that this Glossy Box wasn't quite for me as it was too skin care based, I did love the bright pink box however I still prefer last months box
