NINA SIMONE BIOGRAPHY

Eunice Waymon was born in Tryon, North Carolina as the sixth of seven children in a poor family. The child prodigy played piano at the age of four. With the help of her music teacher, who set up the "Eunice Waymon Fund", she could continue her general and musical education. She studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York.
To support her family financially, she started working as an accompanist. In the summer of 1954 she took a job in an Irish bar in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The bar owner told her she had to sing as well. Without having time to realize what was happening, Eunice Waymon, who was trained to become a classical pianist, stepped into show business. She changed her name into Nina ("little one") Simone ("from the French actress Simone Signoret").

SERGIO MENDES BIOGRAPHY

Born the son of a physician in Niteroi, Brazil, Sergio Mendes began studying music at the local conservatory while still a boy, with the intention of becoming a classical pianist. Mendes was living in Rio de Janeiro as the bossa nova craze hit in the mid- to late '50s, and at age 15, he abandoned classical music in favor of bossa nova. Mendes began spending time with other young Brazilian musicians in Rio de Janeiro, absorbing the musical ferment around him in the company of such figures as Antonio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto. Their company was augmented by the periodic visits of American jazz giants such as Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Byrd, Paul Winter, Roy Eldridge, and Herbie Mann. Mendes became the leader of his own group, the Sexteto Bossa Rio, and was heard with them by many visiting musicians. He made his first recording, Dance Moderno, in 1961 on the Philips Records label. By 1962, Mendes and his band were playing at Birdland in New York in an impromptu performance with Cannonball Adderley (who was officially on the bill). Mendes and Adderley cut an album together for Capitol Records that was released later that year.

Llorando by Rebekah Del Rio..i stumble upon this song when i was watching Mulholland Drive towards the end of the movie, i heard this song. Rebekah Del Rio sang it accapella. Eventhough i don't understand spanish but you can feel than she sang it beautifully and the emotion that she put it in the song got me goose bum. You can feel as though you know the song..not everybody can give this kind of feel in the song. I been playing this song over and over again and it brought tears to my ears. Bravo! Let's watch this video together and tell me whether you can feel the emotion. This video taken from the movie Mulholland Drive.

The Checkers (Japanese: チェッカーズ) was a Japanese pop/rock band famous in the 80s. The band was formed by Toru Takeuchi, the leader and the guitarist, who asked Fumiya Fujii to start a band with him. They made a debut on 21 September 1983 and split up on 31 December 1992. All of their single releases entered top 10 in Japanese charts, many of them making it to No 1. Fumiya Fujii, who was the lead singer and the main lyricist, went on to pursue a successful solo career.

Although it was a band which produced their own songs, they were frequently regarded as just male aidoru by Japanese rock fans because of their early marketing promotion.

Hi there!
It's 5am now and i couldn't sleep. Been having this problem lately since my ex out of the blue sent me a short message on my phone..It's been 6 years since our break up and i still feel weak whenever i got his message...then i stumble upon this song from Sara Bareilles called Gravity..I know this song since last year but never really hear the song properly...if you were to read the lyrics, that's what i felt right now. It's true that people said that Love is Blind..anyway, she wrote this song after her horrible break up with her boyfriend..same as me LOL!
