आज कई सालों बाद,

उनसे यूहीं बात हुई।

मैंने हमेशा की तरह,

खैरियत पूछी।

उन्होंने भी हर बार की तरह,

आसान-सा जवाब दिया।

ना आगे कुछ कहा,

ना कुछ पूछा।

बस, अगर आज,

बात अलग थी;

तो वो इसलिए,

क्योंकि, उन्होंने कई दिनों बाद;

दोस्तों जैसा जवाब दिया,

जो अपना-सा लगा।

जैसे कि कुछ बदल गया

था, उनके भीतर।

आज बात करके

बिल्कुल अहसास

नहीं हुआ,

कि यह रिश्ता

सालों से

बंजर पड़ा था!

यूं थोड़ा मज़ाक

करते हुए,

कुछ अल्फ़ाज़

कह गये अधूरे,

तो कहीं खुद को रोक लिया!

बदल के भी फिर

ना बदले वो,

और एक मैं हूं,

जो एक बार

फिर से फिदा हो गई,

उनके इसी अंदाज पर।

Six years down the line,
I thought everything would be fine.
If not a genuine laugh,
I would be able to fake a smile.

But, things are falling apart,
I feel as I had felt at the start.
Harder and tougher it gets,
To swallow your death fact.

Every memory makes me cry,
My emotions doesn't get dry.
The more I think,
The more I whine.

How can I let go of memories?
They are there in all my life categories.
Why do people tell me to stop?
Can no one see the broken bond?

It's a void of eternity
A vouch of your death certainty.
You are not coming back
And that's what makes me mad.

No hands to hold,
No one near when it gets cold.
Swollen eyes and sly tears
Are the only left honorary measures.

When death separated us,
The only thing I can do was cuss...
All things and people around
Who failed to understand my wound.

The pain and struggle will buried with me,
When I will be able to meet thee.
The only question I will ask,
Why did you leave me, so fast?

What about the promises we made,
The secret pact that we held
O mom, do you ever realise
How troublesome it is with you?

I miss your touch,

A Life along the Ahmedabad Airport

The sounds of airplanes take off and landing,

Is so mesmerizing.

The early morning walks & evening talks,

Along the Airport footpath;

Allows you to greet you passengers of all sorts.

Clean and broad roads,

And the zip and zap of all traffic modes

Instills an energy in me,

As I become accustom to the rush,

And make schedule as Airport is free.

The coming and going of VIP’s is so common,

It is like everyday affair.

Stopping to make way for them,

Is an everyday habit,

As I am the first one to glance at them.

The days and nights here are different,

The lives are indifferent

In any threat,

You can see activity boosting up,

To ensure that every security need is meet.

I can walk down to Airport whenever I want,

Spent hours striding along,

I feel so comfortable being there,

I remember my childhood days,

When I learned my cycling there.

I associate myself with Ahmedabad Airport,

As I grew up on these roads,

A true Amdavadi spirit can be seen,

When you depart at Airport,

And have all relatives come in.

Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport,

Is one of the major landmarks of Amdavad,

It is far from every end,

But for me, who has seen all colors here;

It is my colorful Amdavad.

चाहे बसें वो महलो में गलियों में,
यह ना होते कभी एक दूसरे के आभारी!

सारी उम्र घिसता और रोता आम आदमी,
क्यूं कि सरकार भी उसे देती सिर्फ़ कोटा!

It was a day,

Sunny and Bright.

Love was blossoming,

Since the previous night.

The yellow flowers withered away,

And, roses were full bloom.

Suddenly I heard,

A tweak from my room.

“Who’s it?” I thought,

Walking towards my door.

“Was Rishi up?”

Thinking it, I opened the door.

He was asleep,

Fast into his dreams.

No one’s around,

Still, the tweak sound came, dim.

I raced in my house,

Feeling scared.

It seemed as the sound,

Gave me some dare.

At last, I was close to that sound,

Which by now had made me weak

I saw a faint figure rocking the chair

And it was she, who created that tweak.

“Who are you?” I asked

“From where do you come?”

The figure rose and turned around

It was a fairy in a beautiful gown.

Shocked, I could not say anything

And, she smiled.

“Do not worry,” she said

“I am here to reduce your troubles, pilled.”

“How,” I asked

The fairy smiled and explained her task

“It is that time of the year,

When love blossoms.”

“Yes,” I interrupted.

With an angry glare she become quiet

“Never again you interrupt me.”

Saying so, she began unfolding her story.

“When love blossoms,

We travel from place to place

Searching for couples

Who are made for each other.

We judge them, we follow them

To see their depth.

Once, we are satisfied

Then comes the gifting time

Yet, again, the test time is tough

As from the couple, we select one person

To whom, we bestow

The unlimited powers.”

She took a deep breath,

And, I looked at her with questions-filled-eyes

She gave me thumbs – up,

And I began my questions:

“Powers? Which powers?

What couples are you talking off?

I cannot understand what is happening,

And, whether it is true or not.”

The fairy spoke:

“Do not worry child,

I will explain it in depth

I am Fairy of Love.

Every year, my friends, and me

Fly around high,

To see and test true love

So that we can gift & bless them.

This year, Rishi and you

Have qualified and passed our test

We are highly impressed,

And have come to bestow you with gifts.

For being a lovely couple

And true companions,

I, Love Fairy would like to grant you

24 hours filled with super powers.

Today is Valentine’s Day,

You can make it more special

By doing everything you want

With these super powers.

Beware, though, you can wish for anything

This a secret between thee & me

You cannot tell anyone

Not even Rishi. Do you understand it?”

Gulping down what I heard,

I asked, “WOW! I cannot believe,

What I heard & what I am seeing

But it is just like a dream.

Tell me O! Fairy of Love,

Why did of all, you choose me?”

“Because you have strength & courage,

And, you are strong of the two.

Now, if you excuse me,

I have to rush

As there are many other who are waiting

Their special gift.”

Saying this, away was she gone

Leaving me alone,

Thinking hard on what I just saw

Making it a try-and-succeed dream.

Till Rishi was asleep,

I sorted the scene out

Planning how we celebrate

Our V-day!

“What should I do?

From where I Start”

I let my thoughts wander

Like a lost child.

“I am super woman,” I thought

“I can do anything, I want.”

My childhood dream was fulfilled

As I always thought, why only men can be super heroes?

“How can I make Valentine Day special for Rishi?

“Doing something unexceptional,” I thought.

Just like super heroes who save women

I need to save Rishi, but from whom?

He was not damsel in distress

Neither he was under any exploitation or violence.

His calm & patient nature,

Had won him friends and no foes.

Car, clothes, watches or some money?

Not all these would impress him.

Then, What can I do for him?

Something that he wants and has not yet got.

As I reminisced our talks,

I remembered his wish,

To visit his roots,

Which were close yet away.

That’s it! I found my idea.

Without a second thought,

I prepared a getaway to visit Sindh,

A place not a part of India but an ex-place of many Sindhi’s.

With super powers on my hand,

No borders and barriers could stop us.

And, for a day, we would be in Sindh,

Safe and sound.

As Rishi woke up,

I took his hands into mine

And there were we,

In Sindh, a place of our dreams.

“How? Why? What?” Rishi startled

“Ssshh…” I said

“You assume that I have super powers

And away we flew to our roots, for valentine.”

He hugged me tight

Soft tears welled in his eyes.

He knew, I was hiding something

But did not ask anything further.

Together we spent,

The best time of our life.

By walking on streets on Sindh,

Visiting the traditional monuments & heritage.

A day filled with lot of fun & laughter,

We tried many Sindhi dishes,

Sindhi Clothes, visited colleges

And clicked many pictures.

As sun went down,

We created our own romantic dinner

Amidst our roots, in Sindh

Finally fulfilling our dream.

The clock chimed,

And it was time to leave.

Flown back to our home,

It was unconventional valentine, well spent.

Back home, I explained Rishi,

What had happened when he was asleep,

Amazingly, he heard everything

And said thanks to for taking him to Sindh.

I felt happy and glad,

That I was super woman for right reasons

Secretly, I thanked the fairy before I retired for night,

Knowing that, she was seeing all this, with a smile!

‘Ding Dong’ went my bell,

I opened the gate in Ahmedabad’s atmospheric hell.

The courier boy was on spree,

And, came in my Matrikas products free, free, free.

Excitement rolled in,

I tore open the parcel as I am committing some sin.

There lay three beauties in my hand,

Overjoyed I was to see more products than planned.

O! The sweet smell and smoothness of my orange notebook,

Made me its fan in the very first look.

I smelled it day and night,

Lost in its amazing color and drawings, so bright.

There was fish, alien, burger, bus, globe, chairs, fan and much more,

Bulb, pencil, computer, car, rains – so much to explore.

My eyes went green next,

As a Journal laid there for my content and context.

It was secured with a cloth ribbon,

I felt its every aspect while having a bonbon.

Again, a captivating smell caught me,

The fresh breath is intoxicating,

Goa is a place for fun and cans

It automatically de-stress and relaxes,

So, when are you making your plan?

If I could live anywhere in the world,

Goa would be undoubtedly the choice,

Or else I will make sure that I shift there,

A place loud yet less on noise.

For the love we have, the gifts we have inherited and the joy resides in us, we have to use them as shield and not weakness. In no way, we are less than any other person in the world.

Ae naari, tu khud ki dushman ban jaati hai,
Teraa pyaar teri mamta, raaste kaa rodaa ban jaati hai,
Kyun tune sahnaa seekhaa? Kyun tune ronaa seekhaa?
Andhere mein teri parchchaayi bhi saath chhod jaati hai…

Sita se lekar Draupadi tak…
Aam ladki se lekar jaani-maani hasti tak…

I wanted to cry hard,
It was not me,
But my strangled emotions,
all held up, tied up and controlled.

I wanted to cry hard,
It was not me,
But the boundaries surrounding me,
the walls built and the castles I was captured in.

I wanted to cry hard,
It was not me,
But the unrequited love,
Fake friendships and backstabbers.

I wanted to cry hard,
It was not me,
But societal bond,
stopping me from freeing myself and my other sisters.

I wanted to cry hard,
Realising that it was REALLY me,
I lacked courage and strength,
From letting loose my reins.

Walking can be tiring if there is no one to walk with you.

It can be depressing when you have nowhere to go.

How would you walk alone, when there are no hands to hold?

Where will it lead you, if not a single creature is there to make it amazing?

Walk down the roads, on the plains, or in corridor,

An empty side will always limit your pace.

Shortened by the steps, not by your aim,

Walking alone is walking like zombie.

You are unnoticed when alone,

Walks becomes insane when in groups,

Walk like a Barbie or like models,

Walking alone is wish unfulfilled.

Surely, you can go to a journey without stop,

You can be yourself with all the thoughts,

Yet, you will just wander in different directions,

As walking alone will never give you a destination.

Walk, walking and walking,

Gives you a constant motion,

But, lonely walks,

Truly makes you a zombie.

Dark, darker and darkness;

Are only things left around me.

If I stumble towards white bend;

Still, I just see is darkness.

Has tragedy befallen on me?

Or has my world crumbled underneath?

Millions of questions shoot up,

And All I can remember is;

That you left me!

Thrown into confusion and bizarre situations,

I tried to tackle it with best solutions.

Still, there is darkness in my mind and heart,

Waging my way through it is tough enough.

I shout and hurt myself as I move away;

Yet it creeps on me like an evil shadow.

“Carry me out.” “Take me out.” My voice pleads;

Yet no one can see the darkness around me!

Dark, darker and darkness;

Are the only things left around me.

But there is hope, yes, I can see,

I’m sure that someone will surely;

Take me out of this; and then;

Dark, darker and darkness

Will no longer walk with me!

She is the reason for our smile,

She is the one, who makes our life,

She holds our hands in every situation;

Acting as a shield that protects us.

Her life has no meaning without us,

Her fears and hopes are tied with us.

No matter how tensed she maybe,

She would hide it all,

To make us feel better.

We take her for granted

And she never argues,

Filling our life with joys,

Arms to indulge in,

Heart of every color filled up,

Even the skies lit their flertious eyes.

Dreading myself along the way,

I saw Cupid- the love god!

Funnily dressed he was,

Running with an arrow and wings

To amuse me further;

His body could be half seen.

The more closely he came,

The more my jesting began.

Because he was not a;

Full-grown man, but a tiny tot.

My laugh filled up the brazen place,

Hearing it, Cupid stopped and gazed.

I feared the way he looked; as

He came and stood in front of me.

“My dear, what are you laughing at?” he asked,

Trembling and shaking I stood still,

He smiled in a frightening manner

Because now, he sensed my heart beats.

“So, you were laughing on me or love?”

“Neither of them.” I answered

“You are soon going to be a victim of it.”

Pleased with himself, he suddenly vanished.

I tried to recollect myself,

And kept wondering about the meeting.

Before I could sense whether it was fake or real,

I felt something missing within me.

Wind blew in its fastest frequency;

Blinding my eyes, someone bumped into me.

Lucky was I to catch a glimpse of it,

But, unfortunate because cupid had now, struck me!

Through those eyes I saw,

Numerous people gathered around me.

I didn’t recognise them for I was small,

And gripped tightly in my mother’s arms.

Through those eyes I saw,

The fun I had while playing.

I was detached from the world around me,

As I was busy playing with my dolls.

Through those eyes I saw,

The fun and experience of adolescence

I had started to understand the norms,

Because they said I was growing.

Through those eyes I saw,

The pain of the grown-ups and

I began to understand the complex relations,

Because I was in my twenties.

Through those eyes I saw,

A new relation building

Demanding various roles

And forcing responsibilities.

Through those eyes I saw

Happiness once again holding me

I was holding a new life

Fast asleep in my arms.

Through those eyes I saw

Various situations and turmoil,

Still, I was happy and content

Because my life had been a fruitful endeavor.
