واقعہ معراج رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حیات اطہر کا اہم ترین واقعہ ، ایک عظیم الشان معجزہ ہے، جو انسانی عقل و قیاس کی حدود سے بالا تر ہے۔

اس رات کو اللہ عزوجل نے اپنے پیارے محبوب صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو معراج شریف کی دولت عطا فرمائی اور پیارے آقا صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جنت اور دوزخ کو ملا حظہ فرمایا اور چشمان مبارک سے اللہ عزوجل کا دیدار کیا۔ لہذا اس

رات کو خوب عبادت میں گزارنا چاہنے۔

حضور علیہ السلام کا معراج فرمانا قرآن عظیم اور احادیث مبارک سے ثابت ہے۔علماء فرماتے ہیں مسجد الحرام سے مسجد اقصٰی تک کے سفر کو “اسراء" کہتے ہیں اور یہ قرآن عظیم سے ثابت ہے اسکا منکر کا فر ہے۔ اور مسجد اقصٰی سے آسمانوں تک تشریف لے جانا اور عرش سے آگے لامکان تک تشریف لے جانا اورجنت اور دوزخ کا ملا حظہ فرمانا احادیث مبارک سے ثابت ہے اسے معراج کہتے ہیں اس کا منکر فاسق و فاجر ہے اور سخت گناہگار ہے۔

قرآن پاک میں سورہ بنی اسرائیل میں واقعہ معراج کا ذکر یوں کیا گیا ہے " پاک ہے وہ ذات جو اپنے بندے کو رات ہی رات مسجد حرام سے مسجد اقصٰی تک لے گئی جس کو ہم نے برکت دے رکھی ہے تا کہ اپنی قدرت کے کچھ نمونے دکھائیں۔ یقینا اللہ ہی خوب سننے والا اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔"

رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہے واقعہ معراج بیان کرتے ہوئے فرماتے ہیں " میرے پاس براق لایا گیا جو گدھے سے اونچا اور خچر سے نیچا تھا، جو ایک قدم اتنی دور رکھتا تھا جتنی دور اس کی نگاہ جاتی تھی، میں اس پر سوار ہوا تو وہ مجھے لے کر چلا۔ میں بیت المقدس پہنچا، وہا ں دو رکعت نماز ادا کی، اسکے بعد جبرائیل علیہ السلام میرے پاس آئے، ان کے ہاتھ میں دو برتن تھے۔ ایک میں شراب جب کہ دوسرے میں دودھ تھا، میں نے دودھ کو پسند کیا تو جبرائیل علیہ السلام نے کہا: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فطرت کو پا لیا "۔

براق کا سفر اس تیزی کے ساتھ ہوا کہ جس تک انسان کی عقل پہنچ ہی نہیں سکتی۔ ایسا لگتا تھا ہر طرف موسم بہار آگیا ہے۔ چاروں طرف نور ہی نور پھیلتا چلا گیا۔ حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی سواری بڑی شان کے ساتھ پچاس ہزار فرشتوں کی معیت میں مسجد الحرام سے نکلی۔ آسمانوں کے دریچے کھول دئیے گئے تا کہ آسمان کے فرشتے بھی اسریٰ کے دولہا کی برات کے دیدار سے مشرف ہو سکیں۔ایک وادی آئی جس میں کھجور کے بے شمار درخت تھے۔ وہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ہجرت گاہ مدینہ طیبہ تھی۔ پھر ایک وادی ایمن سے گزر ہوا۔

جبرائیل امین نے عرض کیا کہ یہاں اللہ تعالیٰ نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو اپنی ہم کلامی کا شرف بخشا۔ پھر بیت المقدس آگیا۔ وہاں حضرت آدم علیہ السلام سے لے کر حضرت عیسیٰ علیہ السلام تک تمام انبیاء و رسل صفیں باندھے کھڑے تھے۔ امامت کا مصلہ خالی تھا۔ امام الانبیاء صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مصلے پر پہنچے تو جبرائیل امین نے اذان دی۔ اللہ کے حبیب صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے امامت فرمائی۔ مسجد اقصیٰ سے فراغت کے بعد بلندی کا سفر شروع ہوا۔ تمام انبیا ئے کرام معراج کی شب بیت المقدس میں جمع ہوئے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی تمام نبیوں کے امام ہوئے اور میدان حشر میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی اللہ تعالیٰ کے حضور سب کی شفاعت فرمائیں گے، یہی وہ مقام ہے جو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سوا کسی کو حاصل نہیں اور جس کا قرآن میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے صرف آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی سے وعدہ فرمایا۔

جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کائنات میں واپس تشریف لائے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا بستر اسی طرح گرم تھا اوردروازے کی زنجیر بھی ہل رہی تھی۔ وضو کا پانی بھی جاری تھا۔

شب معراج کے وظائف کے متعلق حضرت ابو ہریرہ سے روایت ہے کہ جس نے اس دن سو مرتبہ سجان اللہ وبحمدہ پڑھا تو اس کے گناہ مٹا دئیے جائیں گے، خواہ اس کے گناہ سمندر کے جھاگ سے بھی زیادہ ہوں(صیح بخاری)۔

اس مقدس سفر میں مسلمانوں کو پانچ وقت کی نماز قائم کرنے کا حکم دیا گیا اور اس کا ثواب پچاس نمازوں کے برابر رکھا گیا، اس لئے ہم مسلمانوں کا فرض ہے کہ نماز پابندی کے ساتھ ادا کریں اور اس کے ساتھ اسلام کے تمام ارکان کی ادائیگی بھی کریں۔

Heart touching story...

After the Earthquake had subsided, when the rescuers reached the ruins of a young woman’s house, they saw her dead body through the cracks. But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person was worshiping; her body was leaning forward, and her two hands were supporting by an object. The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head.

With so many difficulties, the leader of the rescuer team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the woman’s body. He was hoping that this woman could be still alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away for sure.

He and the rest of the team left this house and were going to search the next collapsed building. For some reasons, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruin house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his had through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body. Suddenly, he screamed with excitement, “A child! There is a child! “

The whole team worked together; carefully they removed the piles of ruined objects around the dead woman. There was a 3 months old little boy wrapped in a flowery blanket under his mother’s dead body. Obviously, the woman had made an ultimate sacrifice for saving her son. When her house was falling, she used her body to make a cover to protect her son. The little boy was still sleeping peacefully when the team leader picked him up.

The medical doctor came quickly to exam the little boy. After he opened the blanket, he saw a cell phone inside the blanket. There was a text written on the screen. It said,”

If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.” This cell phone was passing around from one hand to another. Every body that read the message wept. ” If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.”

Such is the mother’s love for her child!

WHY IS ISLAMIC WAY OF SLAUGHTERING IS SO BRUTAL?

Research: Islamic Slaughtering and Western method of Slaughtering.

Let's begin with a small introduction with the term HALAAL

What is Halaal (حلال)?

Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted. The opposite of halal is HARAAM (حرام), which means unlawful or prohibited. Halal and haram are universal terms that apply to allfacets of life. However, we will use these terms only in relation to food products, meat products, cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, and food contact materials.

While many things are clearly halal or haram, there are some things which are not clear. Further information is needed to categorize them as halal or haram. Such items are often referred to asmashbooh, which means doubtful or questionable.

All foods are considered halal except the following (which are haram):
Swine/Pork and its by-products - Read more on WHY PORK IS PROHIBITED
Animals improperly slaughtered or dead before slaughtering
Alcoholic drinks and intoxicants Carnivorous animals, birds of prey and certain other animals Foods contaminated with any of the above products,

Foods containing ingredients such as gelatin, enzymes, emulsifiers, and flavors are questionable (mashbooh), because the origin of the seingredients is not known.

Let's now move into the topic.

The Islamic practice of slaughtering animals by means of a sharp cut to the front of the neck has frequently come under attack by some animal rights activists as being a form of animal cruelty, the claim being that it is a painful in human method of killing animals. In the West, it is required by law to stun the animals with a shot to the head before the slaughter, supposedly to render the animal unconscious and to prevent it from reviving before it is killed so as not to slow down the movement of the processing line. It is also used toprevent the animal from feeling pain before it dies.

German Research Studies Pain,

It therefore may come as a surprise to those who have made such acclimations to learn of the results of a study carried out by Professor Wilhelm Schulzeand his colleague Dr. Hazim at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover University in Germany. The study: ‘Attempts to Objectify Pain and Consciousness in Conventional (captive boltpistol stunning) and Ritual (halal, knife) Methods of Slaughtering Sheep and Calves’ concludes that Islamic slaughtering is the most humane method of slaughter and that captive bolt stunning, practiced in the West, causes severe pain to the animal.

In the study, several electrodes were surgicallyimplanted at various points of the skull of allanimals, touching the surface of the brain. Theanimals were allowed to recover for several weeks. Some animals were then slaughtered by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck cutting the jugular veins and thecarotid arteries as well as the trachea andesophagus (Islamic method). Other animals werestunned using a Captive Bolt Pistol (CBP). During the experiment, an electroencephal ograph (EEG) and anelectrocardiogram (ECG) recorded the condition of the brain and the heart of all animals during the course of slaughter and stunning.

The results were as follows:

I – Islamic Method When you slaughter in Islamic way the blood is drained from the flesh, where as other method ofkilling clots the blood and 45 percent of the blood remains in the flesh, hence eating such meat is highly dagerous to health, especially kids.

1. The first three seconds from the time of Islamic slaughter as recorded on the EEG did not show any change from the graph before slaughter, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any painduring or immediately after the incision.

2. For the following 3 seconds, the EEG recorded acondition of deep sleep - unconsciousness. This is due to the large quantity of blood gushing out from the body.

3. After the above-mentioned 6 seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain atall.

4. As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (A reflex action of the spinal cord) driving a maximum amount of blood from the body thus resulting in hygienic meat for the consumer.

قربانی کا جانور کیسا ہونا چاہئے ؟

٭ قربانی کے لئے دو دانتا جانور ہونا چاہئے جیسا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے حضرت جابر رضی اللہ عنہ روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :
٫٫لاتذبحوا لا مسنة لا أن یعسر علیکم فتذبحوا جذعة من الضأن،،
یعنی صرف دو دانتا جانور کی قربانی کرو اگر ایسا جانور نہ مل سکے تو جذعہ ( دو دانت سے کم عمر کا دنبہ ) ذبح کرلو . (

صحیح مسلم حدیث نمبر ١٩٦٣)

حافظ ابن حجر رحمة اللہ علیہ (جذعہ) کی عمر کے بارے میں رقمطراز ہیں :
جمہور کے قول کے مطابق بھیڑ میں سے (جذعہ) وہ ہے جس نے اپنی عمر کا ایک سال مکمل کرلیا ہو .

٭خصی اور غیر خصی دونوں قسم کے جانور کی قربانی کرنا سنت مطہرہ سے ثابت ہے .

٭ قربانی کا جانور موٹا ، تازہ ، خوبصورت اور ہر قسم کے عیب سے پاک ہونا چاہئے . وہ جانور جن کی قربانی جائز نہیں . اس کی تفصیلات مندرجہ ذیل حدیث سے معلوم ہوتی ہے،
حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حکم دیا کہ ہم جانور کی آنکھیں اور کان اچھی طرح دیکھ لیں اور ایسا جانور نہ ذبح کریں جس کا کان اوپر یا نیچے سے کٹا ہو ، جس کے کان لمبائی میں کٹے ہوں یا جس کے کان میں گول سوراخ ہو،، .

کس جانور کی قربانی سے بچا جائے ؟

نیز حضرت براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سوال کیا گیا : کس جانور کی قربانی سے بچا جائے ؟
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہاتھ سے اشارہ کرکے کہا کہ چار قسم کے جانور وں کی قربانی منع ہے
(١) لنگڑا جانور جس کا لنگڑا پن ظاہر ہو
(٢) کانا جانور جس کا کانا پن ظاہر ہو
(٣) بیمار جس کی بیماری ظاہر ہو
(٤) لاغر جانور جس کی ہڈیوں میں بالکل گودا نہ ہو ،،.

( موطا ٢/ ٥٨٢ ، ترمذی ١ ٢٨٣ ، ابن ماجہ حدیث نمبر ٣١٤٤ وغیرہ ) .

اس حدیث سے معلوم ہوا کہ قربانی کے جانوروں میں معمولی عیب کی معافی ہے لیکن جن جانوروں میں ان عیوب سے بڑا عیب ہوگا ان کی قربانی جائز نہیں ہوگی.

٭ ایک بکرے یا بھیڑ میں ایک سے زیادہ آدمی حصہ دار نہیں ہو سکتے البتہ گائے میں سات آدمی اور اونٹ میں دس آدمی حصہ دار ہو سکتے ہیں . اگر کوئی ایک سے زائد حصے رکھنا چاہے یا اکیلا ہی قربانی کرنا چاہے تو اس کی مرضی ہے . حدیث ملاحظہ فرمائیں. عن ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما قال : کنا مع رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فی سفر فحضر الضحی فاشترکنا فی الجزور عن عشرة والبقرة عن سبعة ،، ترجمہ: ٫٫سیدنا عبد اللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ ہم رسول اللہ ۖ کے ساتھ کسی سفر میں تھے کہ عیدالاضحی آگئی . تو ہم نے اونٹ میں دس اور گائے میں سات آدمیوں نے شرکت کی ،،.

♥ Allah has taken oath of ten nights in Soorah Al-Fajr. According to the majority of the commentators of Qur'ãn, the nights are those of the (first) ten days of Zul Hijjah.

♥ Abdullah Ibne 'Abbãs RadiyAllahu Anhu related that the Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "Good deeds performed on other days are not superior to those performed o
n these (first ten days of Zul Hijjah)." The Companions RadiyAllahu Anhum inquired, "Not even Jihãd?" He replied, "Not even jihãd, except for that person who goes out putting himself and his wealth in danger and does not return with anything." (Bukhãri)

♥ Aboo Hurayrah RadiyAllahu Anhu related that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "On no days is the worship of Allah desired more than in the (first) ten days of Zul Hijjah. The fast of each of these days is equal to the fast of a whole year, and the worship of each of these nights is equal to the worship of Laylatul Qadr." (Tirmizi, Ibne Mãjah)

♥ The mother of the believers, Hafsah RadiyAllahu Anhaa reports that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam used to fast the (first) nine days of Zul Hijjah. (Nasã'ee, Ahmad, Aboo Dãwood)

♥ Abdullah Ibne 'Umar RadiyAllahu Anhu related that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "No days are as weighty with Allah and so liked by Him for good deeds than the first ten days of Zul Hijjah. So on these days increasingly read Subhãnallah, Lã ilãha illallãh, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar." (Musnad Ahmad)

♥ Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "When anyone of you intends to sacrifice the animal and enter in the month of Zul-Hijjah, he should not get his hair cut or nails pared till he has offered his sacrifice.'' (Reported by Muslim)

Note: Ulama have stated that this includes moustache and hair of the private parts etc. However, if the hair under the arms and in the pubic region is very long (which renders the Salaat Makrooh i.e. more than forty days), then it will become compulsory to remove such hair. However, if a person forgets to clip the nails before the 1st of Dhul Hijjah and the nails have grown so long that they may cause injury, then he may clip them.

★ Virtues of the Day of Arafah (9th Zul Hijjah)

♥ Aboo Qatãdah Al-Ansãri RadiyAllahu Anhu narrated that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam was asked about the fast on the day of Arafah. He said, "It compensates for the sins of the past and the coming year." (Muslim, Tirmizi, Ibne Mãjah)

♥ Ã'ishah RadiyAllahu Anhaa reports that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "There is no day in which Allah sets free more souls from the fire of hell than on the day of Arafah. And on that day Allah draws near to the earth and by way of exhibiting His Pride remarks to the Angels, 'What is the desire of these (servants of mine)?" (Muslim)

♥ Talhah RadiyAllahu Anhu reports that Rasoolullah SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "Apart from the day of the Battle of Badr there is no day on which the shaytãn is seen to be more humiliated, more rejected, more depressed and more infuriated, than on the day of Arafah, and indeed all this is only because of beholding the abundance of descending Mercy (on the day) and Allah's forgiveness of the great sins of the servants." (Mishkãt)

★ Takbirãt of Tashreeq

The Takbirãt of Tashreeq are:

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar,
Lã ilãha illallãhu wallahu Akbar,
Allahu Akbar, Walil lahil hamd.

"Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest and all praises are for Allah only."

It is wãjib for every adult Muslim to recite these Takbirãt of Tashreeq audibly once after every fardh Salaah which is performed with jamã'at (congregation) from the Fajr of 9th Zul Hijjah to the 'Asr of 13th Zul Hijjah (i.e. total of 23 Salãh).

★ On the Eid day

The following acts are Sunnah on the day of Eidul- Adha:

1. To wake up early in the morning.

2. To clean one's teeth with a miswak.

3. To take bath (Ghusl).

4. To put on one's best available clothes.

5. To use perfume.

6. Not to eat before the Eid prayer.

7. To recite the Takbir of Tashreeq in a loud voice while going to the Eid prayer.

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "Friday is the best of days. It was on this day that Hazrat Aadam Alayhis salaam was created, it was on this day that he was granted entry into Jannah, it was on this day that he was removed from Jannah (which became the cause for man's existence in this universe, and which is a great blessing), and the day of resurrection will also take place on this day. " [Sahih Muslim]

☀ On one Friday, Beloved Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "O Muslims! Allah Ta'ala has made this day a day of Eid . So have a bath on this day, whoever has perfume should apply it, and use the miswaak. " [Ibn Majah]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "People should abstain from leaving out Jumu'ah Salaah. If not, Allah Ta'ala will put a seal over their hearts whereby they will fall into severe negligence. " [Muslim]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "The person who misses out three Jumu'ah's without any valid reason, Allah Ta'ala puts a seal over his heart. " [Tirmidhi]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "The Jumu'ah Salaat with jama'at is a duty which is Wajib on every Muslim with the exception of the following four persons: (i) a slave, that is the one who is owned by someone according to the rules laid down by the Shariah, (ii) a woman, (iii) an immature boy, (iv) a sick person. " [Abu Daud]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "It is my earnest desire that I appoint someone as Imam in my place while I go and burn the homes of those who do not attend the Jumu'ah salaat. " [Muslim]

☀ Allah's Apostle SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "The taking of a bath (Ghusl) on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty." [Bukhari]

☀ Allah's Apostle SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "Anyone who takes a bath on Friday and cleans himself as much as he can and puts oil (on his hair) or scents himself; and then proceeds for the prayer and does not force his way between two persons (assembled in the Masjid for the Friday prayer), and prays as much as is written for him and remains quiet when the Imam delivers the Khutba, all his sins in between the present and the last Friday will be forgiven." [Bukhari]

☀ Abu Huraira R.A. reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying, "When it is Friday, the Angels stand at every door of the Masjid and record the people in the order of their arrival, and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit for delivering the sermon) they fold up their sheets and listen to the mention (of Allah). And he who comes early is like one who offers a she-camel as a sacrifice, the next like one who offers a cow, the next a ram, the next a hen, the next an egg." [Muslim]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, “By walking for the Jumu'ah salaat, one gets the reward of fasting for one year for every step that he takes.” [Tirmidhi]

☀ Beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, "The person who has a bath on Friday and goes early to the Masjid on foot, and not by a vehicle, listens to the Khutbah and does not do any foolish act while it is being delivered, will get the reward of one year's Ibaadah, one year's Fasting, and one year's Salaah; for every step that he takes. " [Tirmidhi]

☀ Abu Huraira R.A. reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying, "There is a time on Friday at which no Muslim servant would pray and would ask Allah for a thing but He (Allah) would give it to him. Qutaiba pointed with the help of his hand that it (the time) is short." [Muslim]

☀ Narrated Ibn Juraij: I heard Nazi' saying, "Ibn Umar, said, 'The Prophet SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam forbade that a man should make another man to get up to sit in his place' ". I said to Nafi', 'Is it for Jumua prayer only?' He replied, "For Jumua prayer and any other (prayer)." [Bukhari]

☀ Jabir b. 'Abdullah said that a person entered the Masjid while the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was delivering the sermon on Friday. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Have you observed prayer? He said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Stand and offer the two rak'ahs. [Muslim] Offer 2 Rakahs upon entering the Masjid.

☀ Abu Huraira R.A. reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying, "When any one of you observes the Jumu'a prayer (two obligatory rak'ahs in congregation), he should observe four (rak'ahs) afterwards." [Muslim]

☀ Suhail reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said, "When you observe prayer after (the two obligatory Rakahs) of Jumu'a, you should observe four rak'ahs (and 'Amr in his narration has made this addition that Ibn Idris said this on the authority of Suhail): And if you are in a hurry on account of something, you should observe two rak'ahs in the Masjid and two when you return (to your house)." [Muslim]

☀ Nafi' reported that when 'Abdullah (b. 'Umar) observed the Friday prayer and came back he observed two rak'ahs in his house, and then said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to do this. [Muslim]

☀ Allah's Apostle SalAllahu Alyehe Wasallam said, “Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays.” [Ibn Hajar, Talkhis al-Habir] It is recommended to recite Surat al-Kahf completely the night before Friday, and it is also recommended to do so Friday itself, before Maghrib time. Ibn Abidin said, “And it is best to do so early on Friday, in order to rush to the good and to avoid forgetting.”

RECITE ABUNDANT DUROOD ON FRIDAY

♥ "The best of your days is Friday. Increase the Blessings you send on me on Fridays, for I will be told about your Prayers. Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets." [Abu Da'ud, Al Nisai, Ibn Majah]

♥ "Increase the Blessings you send on me on Fridays, for every time someone sends Blessings and Prays for me on a Friday, I will be told about his prayer." [Classed as Sahih by al-Albani, op. cit, No 1219]

WHY SHOULD I MARRY YOU?

Once there was a very handsome, pious, well educated young man, whose parents emphasized for him to get married.

They had seen so many marriage proposals, and he had turned them all down. The parents thought it was becoming a little ridiculous or suspected that he may have someone else in mind.

However every time the parents left the girls house, the young man would always say 'she's not the one!

'The young man only wanted a girl who was religious and practicing, however one evening his mother arranged for him, to meet a girl, who was religious, and practicing.On that evening, the young man, and girl, were left to talk, and ask each other questions. (As one would expect).

The young man, being a gentleman that he was allowed, the lady to ask first.

The young girl asked the young man so many questions, she asked about his life, his education, his friends, his family, his habits, his hobbies, his lifestyle, his enjoyment, his pastime, his experiences, his shoe size......

The young man replied to all of her questions, without tiring, and politely, with a smile the young girl took up nearly all of the time, over an hour, and felt bad, and asked the young man do you have any questions?

The young man said, it's ok. I only have 3 questions...The young girl thought, Wow, ONLY 3 questions okay, shoot

The young man's 1st question was,

Q1: Who do you love the most in the world, someone who's love nothing would ever overcome?
A1: She said, this is an easy question; my mother, he smiled

Q2: 2nd question, he asked, you said that you read a lot of qur'an, could you tell me which surahs you know the meaning of?
A2: Hearing this she went red and embarrassed and said, I do not know the meaning of any yet, but I am hoping to soon insha'allah I've just been a bit busy

Q3: The 3rd question the young man asked, was I have been approached for my hand in marriage, by girls that are a lot more prettier than you Why should I marry you?
A3: Hearing this the young girl was outraged, she stormed off to her parents with fury, and said I do not want to marry this man he is insulting my beauty, and intelligence. And the young man and his parents, were once again, left without an agreement of marriage.This time, the young mans parents were really angry, and said what did you do to anger that girl, the family were so nice, and pleasant, and they were religious like you wanted. What did you ask the girl?? Tell us!

The young man said, firstly I asked her, who do you love the most? she said, her mother, The parents said so, what is wrong with that??The young man said, 'no one, is Muslim, until he loves Allah, and his messenger (saw) more than anyone else in the world'If a woman loves Allah and the Prophet (pbuh) more than anyone, she will love me and respect me, and stay faithful to me, because of that love, and fear for Allah (swt). and we can share this love, because this love is greater than lust for beauty.

The young man said, then I asked, you read a lot of qur'an, can you tell me the meaning of any surah?And she said no, because I haven't had time yet. so I thought of that hadith 'ALL humans, are dead except for those who have knowledge' She has lived 20 years and not found ANY time, to seek knowledge, why would I marry a woman, who does not know her rights, and responsibilities, and what will she teach my children, except how to be negligent, because the woman IS the madrasa (school) and the best of teachers. And a woman who has no time for Allah, will not have time for her husband.

3. The third question I asked her was, that a lot of girls, more prettier than her, had approached me for marriage, why should I choose you?That is why she stormed off, getting angry. The young man's parents said that is a horrible thing to say, why would you do such a thing, we are going back there to apologies. The young man said I said this on purpose, to test whether she could control her anger.The Prophet (saw) said 'do not get angry, do not get angry, do not get angry' when asked how to become pious; because anger is from Satan.If a woman cannot control her anger with a stranger she has just met, do you think she will be able to control it with her husband??
So, the moral of this story is, a marriage is based on:

*knowledge, not ONLY Out Looking (Beauty) !

*practice, not preaching/recite only (million of reciter are there) !

*Forgiveness, not Anger !

*Spiritual love, not Lust !

*and CompromiseOne should look for a person who

1) Has love for Allah (swt) and the messenger (saw)
2) Has knowledge of the deen, and can act upon it.
3) can control their anger
4) and willing to compromise.

And it goes both ways, so women seeking a man, should look for the same things.
Aisha'h r.a reports "one day I was on a camel which was somewhat difficult to control and the Prophet s.a.w remarked "you must be compassionate, whenever there is compassion in something it adorns it, and when it is removed from something it disgraces it". reported by Imam bukhari(al-adab al-mufrad)

April Fool In Islam !

Read only following 6 hadiths and decide yourself to keep telling lies on 1st April to make people ‘APRIL FOOL ’or to stop it and forwarding these hadiths to others…

As the month of March is about to end and month of April is coming up. On the 1st April, the day of April fool is celebrated on which people lie, play jokes, and mock by calling it as Entertainment. From small to big all type of lies are spoken on this day which many times results into great harms, even trauma and deaths.

Some people think that it is permissible to tell lies if it is in jest. This is the excuse that they use for telling lies on April 1st or on other days. This is wrong. There is no basis for this in the pure sharee’ah. Celebrating April Fool is completely Haram because Islam doesn’t allow such dishonest traditions that are based on lies and Mocking and cause big harms most of the times.

According to sharee’ah, lying is not permitted except in specific cases which do not lead to loss of rights, bloodshed or slander of people’s honour, etc., but which concern saving lives, reconciling between people, or creating love between husband and wife. Lying is haraam whether the one who does it is joking or is serious. It is clear from following 5 hadiths:

1. Speak only good:

The Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Let he who truly believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good or be silent.” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

صحیح بخاری:جلد سوم:حدیث نمبر 964 حدیث مرفوع مکررات 13 متفق علیہ 10
قتیبہ بن سعید، ابوالاحوص، ابوحصین، ابوصالح، حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جو شخص اللہ اور قیامت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے وہ اپنے پڑوسی کو تکلیف نہ پہنچائے اور جو شخص اللہ اور قیامت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے اس چاہیے کہ مہمان کی ضیافت کرے اور جو شخص اللہ اور قیامت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے اس کو چاہیے کہ اچھی بات کہے یا خاموش رہے۔

2. Lying is not permitted even in Joke:

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘I joke, but I speak nothing but the truth.’ [narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabeer, 12/391]
This hadeeth was classed as hasan by al-Haythami in Majma’ al-Zawaa’id, 8/89, and classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allah have mercy on him) in Saheeh al-Jaami, 2494)

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: “They said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, you joke with us.’ He said, ‘But I only speak the truth.’” [narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1990]
Abu ‘Eesa said: this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth.

شمائل ترمذی:جلد اول:حدیث نمبر 224
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کہتے ہیں ، کہ صحابہ نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آپ ہم سے مذاق بھی فرمالیتے ہیں ، حضور اقدس صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا ہاں مگر میں کبھی غلط بات نہیں کہتا۔

3. Lying is not permitted even to make people laugh:

It was narrated that Mu’aawiyah ibn Haydah said: “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Woe to the one who talks to make the people laugh and tells lies, woe to him, woe to him.’” [narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 235. He said: this is a hasan hadeeth. Also narrated by Abu Dawood, 4990)].

The above Ahaadeeth show the gravity of participating in the false tradition of April Fool, which the Western tradition appreciates and encourages claiming that it brings joy and amusement, whereas the Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade lying and deceiving even if the intention of the person is to amuse people.

مسدد بن مسرحد، یحیی، حضرت بہز بن حکیم کہتے ہیں کہ مجھ سے میرے والد نے اپنے والد کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ ہلاکت ہے اس شخص کے لیے جو گفتگو میں قوم کو ہنسانے کے لیے جھوٹ بولے اس کی بربادی ہے اس کی بربادی ہے۔

4. Lying is not permitted even for fun:

Abd al-Rahman Ibn Abi Laylaa said: “The companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) told us that they were traveling with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam). A man among them fell asleep and some of them went and took his arrows. When the man woke up, he got alarmed (because his arrows were missing) and the people laughed. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “What are you laughing at?” They said, “Nothing, except that we took the arrows and he got alarmed.” The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “It is not permissible for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim.” [Abu Dawood (5004) and Musnad Ahmad. Authenticated by Shaikh al-Albanee in Saheeh al-Jamee (7658)]

محمد بن سلیمان انباری، ابن نمیر، اعمش، عبداللہ بن یسار، حضرت عبدالرحمن بن ابی لیلی فرماتے ہیں کہ مجھ سے محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے اصحاب نے بیان کیا کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کیساتھ چلے جا رہے تھے سفر میں ان میں سے ایک شخص سو گیا تو ان میں سے بعض اس کی رسی کی طرف چلے جو اس کے ساتھ تھی اور اسے لے لیا وہ آدمی گھبرا گیا آپ نے فرمایا کہ مسلمان کے لیے جائز نہیں کہ دوسرے مسلمان کو گھبراہٹ میں مبتلا کر دے۔

5. Lying is not permitted even while playing with children:
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “My mother called me one day when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting in our house. She said, ‘Come here, and I will give you (something).’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘What do you want to give him?’ She said, ‘I will give him a date.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘If you had not given him something, you would have been lying.’”

قتیبہ، لیث، ابن عجلان، مولی عبداللہ بن عامر بن ربیعہ عدوی، حضرت عبداللہ بن عامر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ وہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک روز میری والدہ نے مجھے بلایا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہمارے گھر میں تشریف فرما تھے کہ میری والدہ نے کہا کہ اے ادھر آئیں تجھے چیز دوں گی۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا کہ تو نے کیا چیز دینے کا ارادہ کیا ہے؟ وہ کہنے لگیں کہ میں اسے کھجور دوں گی۔ آپ نے ان سے فرمایا کہ بہرحال اگر تو اسے کچھ نہ دیتی تو تیرے اوپر ایک جھوٹ لکھا جاتا۔

And it was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever says to a child, ‘Come here and take this,’ then does not give him something, this is counted as a lie.’” [Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4991]
This hadeeth was classed as hasan by Shaykh al-‘Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1319.

6. Punishment for liars:

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) described the severe punishments for the liars and said: “I saw (in a dream), two men came to me. They said, 'The person, the one whose cheek you saw being torn away (from the mouth to the ear) was a liar and used to tell lies and the people would report those lies on his authority till they spread all over the world. So he will be punished like that till the Day of Resurrection.'” [Saheeh al-Bukharee (vol. 8, no: 118)] {Summarized}

موسی بن اسماعیل، جریربن حازم، ابورجاء، سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب نماز پڑھ لیتے تھے تو ہماری طرف متوجہ ہوتے اور فرماتے کہ تم میں سے کسی نے رات کو خواب دیکھا ہے اگر کوئی شخص خواب دیکھتا تو اسے بیان کرتا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کی تعبیر فرماتے جو اللہ کو منظور ہوتا، چنانچہ آپ نے ایک دن ہم سے سوال کیا کیا تم میں سے کسی نے کوئی خواب دیکھا ہے ؟ ہم نے جواب دیا کہ نہیں، آپ نے فرمایا لیکن میں نے دیکھا ہے کہ دو شخص میرے پاس آئے اور میرا ہاتھ پکڑ کر ارض مقدسہ کی طرف لے گئے وہاں دیکھا کہ ایک شخص تو بیٹھا ہوا ہے اور دوسرا شخص کھڑا ہے اور اس کے ہاتھ میں (ہمارے بعض ساتھیوں نے کہا کہ) لوہے کا ٹکڑا ہے جسے اس (بیٹھے ہوئے آدمی) کے گلپھڑے میں ڈالتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ وہ گدی تک پہنچ جاتا ہے پھر اسی طرح دوسرے گلپھڑے میں داخل کرتا ہے اور پہلا گلپھڑا جڑ جاتا ہے، تو اس کی طرف پھر آتا ہے اور اسی طرح کرتا ہے، میں نے پوچھا کہ یہ کیا بات ہے؟ ان دونوں نے کہا وہ شخص جھوٹا ہے جو جھوٹی باتیں بیان کرتا تھا اور اس سے سن کر لوگ دوسروں سے بیان کرتے تھے یہاں تک کہ جھوٹی بات ساری دنیا میں پھیل جاتی ہے اس کے ساتھ قیامت تک ایسا ہی ہوتا رہے گا ۔

Narrated 'Abdullah:
The Prophet said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar."

Cigarette Smoking means you are giving to yourself a slow poison treatment. Cigarette smoking does not only affect the smoker’s health but also affects the nearby standing individual like your kids as their organs are on developing stage.

MUSLIMS ARE forbidden to harm themselves or others. Yet millions of Muslims all over the world are doing just that - harming, even killing themselves and their families. In the Qur'an, Allah says, “...he [the Prophet] commands them what is just, and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good, and prohibits them from what is bad..." (Qur'an 7:157). So what are the evils of tobacco use, for your health and for your religion?

*Danger to Smoker's Health:

Allah says, "...make not your own hands contribute to your destruction..." (Qur'an 2:195); "nor kill yourselves..." (Qur'an 4:29).

It is universally understood that cigarette smoking causes a number of health problems that often ultimately result in death. Smokers are highly at risk for heart disease, emphysema, oral cancer, stroke, etc. There are hundreds of poisonous and toxic ingredients in the cigarette itself that the smoker inhales straight into the lungs.

In an authentic hadith, the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) said that: "Whomsoever drinks poison, thereby killing himself, will sip this poison forever and ever in the fire of Hell."

Over 3 million people worldwide die from smoking-related causes each year.

*Danger To Your Family's Health:

In the Qur'an, Allah says: "Those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly bear on themselves a glaring sin" (Qur'an 33:58).

And the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) said that:"There should be neither harming, nor reciprocating harm.” In another hadith, the Prophet(pbuh) said: "Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt his neighbor."

Those around the smoker inhale what is known as "second-hand smoke" - the unfiltered, poisonous waste that goes in the air around the smoker. There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke, over 40 of which are known to cause cancer. Second-hand smoke causes or aggravates asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory problems, especially in children.

*Noxious Smell:

Muslims are advised to refrain from eating raw onions and garlic - simply as a courtesy to those around them because of their smell. The same goes even more so for the reek of cigarettes, which permeates everything around the smoker - hair, clothing, home, car, etc. The Prophet Muhammad said: “Whoever has eaten from such greens as garlic, onions or leek should keep away from our mosque.” Many smokers try to hide the smell by using breath mints or perfume. This does not get rid of the smell, it only masks it. Often the combination of smells is even more nauseating.

*Waste of Money:

Allah says, "...But spend not wastefully (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the devils...” (Qur'an 17:26-27}

And in an authentic hadith the Prophet(pbuh) said that: "Allah hates for you three things: gossiping, begging, and wasting money." Smokers often spend thousands of dollars a year that literally just go up in smoke.

The Qur’an and Sunnah describe the women in Jannah with certain characteristics. Such as the silk they wear, their large dark eyes, their singing to their husband, etc. Try it, wear silk for your husband, put Kohl in your eyes to ‘enlarge’ them, and sing to your husband.

“If it wasn’t for their political problems and constant fighting between each other, the Muslims would have been on the moon by the 1400’s” was the statement made by a non-Muslim professor in a 400-level undergraduate class on the history of science. It seems that the rate of discovery and advancement in science achieved by the Muslims was quite impressive and has yet to be replicated. What was it that they were doing that allowed for their fast progress?

The teacher in me immediately thinks about their education system, and the neuroscientist in me wants to examine the factors involved in shaping the brains of such a civilization. Interestingly, many Muslim religious scholars will say something about how the Muslims were the leaders when the Quran was the center of their education, and only when they abandoned the Quran that they lost their reign. The amazing thing about this is that while Muslim religious scholars are typically talking about spiritual and moral realities, there is actually a material reality to what they’re saying, which takes place in the brain.

A quick disclaimer here: The list of all that is affected in the brain by the Quran and how that can influence other functions is quite exhaustive. But in the interest of keeping it short, I chose some major areas to present in this article.

Before getting into the brain and how the Quran changes it, one should be familiar with how traditional Muslim education took place. In case you’re wondering where I’m getting this from, it’s from reading the biographies of major figures of scholarship in the traditional Muslim world such as Ibn Rushd, Ibn Sina, and others. This is also based on my personal experience and what I have been told by some of my teachers.

The very first thing taught to an aspiring student was the Quran, which had to be memorized completely. Unlike anything else encountered in spoken Arabic, Quran recitation is a very specific science. Local dialects of Arabic or different ways of pronunciation are not permitted when reciting the Quran. In fact, part of learning the Quran is learning what is called in Arabic taj’weed, which means elocution. The very first thing the student must do is replicate exactly how the teacher is reciting the verse. This refers to where individual letter sounds are being generated in the mouth and throat and where the tongue is to be placed exactly. Once this is done, the student writes the verse on a wooden board in the Othamni script, which follows different spelling rules than regular Arabic writing. The student then takes his board and goes away to memorize the verse. A typical memorization session for a beginner starts with repeating one verse multiple times as it is read on the board to also memorize how it is spelled using the Othmani script. The next day the student reviews the verse several times before returning to the teacher to receive the following verse. After repeating it with the teacher to ensure exact replication of sound and pronunciation, the student writes the new verse and goes away to begin a new memorization session. The third day begins with reviewing the first verse one final time, followed by the second verse several times before going to receive the third verse. On the fourth day the first verse is not reviewed anymore as it would have taken hold in memory, and the second verse takes its place for being reviewed while the third verse is repeated several times before going to receive the fourth verse. At the end of the week is a complete review session for everything that was memorized in the previous days.

As the days pass the capacity for memorization increases and the student is able to take on several verses or even pages at a time instead of only one or two verses. The writing using Othmani spelling continues, as well as the review sessions. Eventually, the whole Quran having more than 6,200 verses is memorized word for word with their specific pronunciation and Othmani spelling. Now the hard task begins as the student works to review all the verses on a monthly basis so as to not forget them. This usually means taking the 30 parts of the Quran as it has been divided to facilitate memorization, and reviewing one part everyday until all 30 have been recited by the end of the month.

It should be mentioned here that the Quran has 10 different modes of recitation. This refers to the placement of diacritical marks on the words and how certain words are pronounced. Some students take this task on and memorize the Quran in all the different modes of recitation, which requires a very careful attention to where the pronunciations are different so they’re not confused with each other given how subtle they sometimes can be.

There are a couple of important qualities about the Quran that relates to how it sounds. Verses in the Quran rhyme and change rhythm often, which gives a pleasurable effect to the listener. Furthermore, as one recites, they’re supposed to sing it rather than simply read it. In fact, the very practice of Taj’weed (elocution) forces the reciter into a singing tone as they enunciate the words of each verse.

A final note to bring up is in regards to the Arabic language and writing in Othmani script. Part of studying the different modes of recitation requires the student to write not only in an unusual spelling, but also to exclude the diacritical marks from the words. This would allow the student to learn the variations of recitation without having the diacritical marks visually interfere with their memorization of different modes of recitation. Moreover, the grammar of the Arabic requires the proper use of diacritical marks in pronunciation so as to not confuse things such as the subject and predicate. This means that the one learning the Quran must always keep track of how the words are enunciated so as to not alter the overall meaning of the verse.

How all of this relates to the brain is quite impressive. The brain is recognized to be a malleable organ that can change its connections and even its size of certain areas based on how active they become. Understanding how involved the brain is of someone learning the Quran using the traditional Muslim method can explain how they were able to achieve such success in their knowledge endeavours.

While learning the Quran, the careful attention to listening and pronunciation of verses stimulates an area of the brain located in the temporal lobe. The temporal lobe is also where the hippocampus is located, which is the memory consolidation center. It’s also the brain region activated for processing of musical sounds such as the case when the Quran is recited. Moreover, it becomes involved when the student engages in handwriting exercises similar to the ones on the wooden board. Where this matters is that this is the part of the brain whose activity levels and capacities have been correlated with a person’s aptitude for learning new information. The more activation this area receives, and the more involved this activation is such as the case with the Quran, the better and more efficient it becomes in its functions for learning and memory.

The parietal lobes are also quite heavily engaged as one learns the Quran. The left parietal lobe deals with reading, writing, and functions in speech. It’s also the part whose activity is important for math and logic problems. The right parietal lobe handles speech tone, which is related to elocution. It’s also responsible for visuospatial relationships and understanding facial expressions. The front part is responsible for the sense of touch discrimination and recognition, which is active during handwriting. The back part plays an important role in attention. Both lobes are also activated during skill learning tasks. Overall, having parietal lobes that have been well activated translates to better logic and math-solving skills, eloquence in general speech, better ability at reading emotional states from facial cues, improved attention, and enhanced capacity for understanding visuospatial relationships. This last one can explain why Muslims were so good at astronomy.
Other brain regions the activity of Quran recitation strongly activate are the frontal lobes and the primary motor cortex. The frontal lobes activity deals with higher order functions, including working memory, memory retrieval, speech production and written-word recognition, sustained attention, planning, social behavior, in addition to others. For example, as the student is reading the Othamni script, his brain must quickly decide on the proper pronunciation of the word, which without the diacritical marks means it must be distinguished from other possibilities that include not only wrong words, but also wrong enunciation depending on the specific recitation he’s using out of the 10 valid ones. The amazing thing about this is that the brain after practice will do these things without conscious control from the student. This trains the area of the brain responsible for inhibition, which is important for social interaction. Children with ADHD have been shown to have this area to be under-developed.

Given the Quran’s content that for example includes descriptions of individuals and places, it activates the occipital lobes, which are involved in generating mental imagery. This brain region is also important in visual perception. Becoming active as a result of generating mental imagery indirectly improves visual perception capacities since the area activated is within the same region. The Quran is also rich in its content for history, parables, and logical arguments, all of which recruit different areas that become more efficient and better connected as they are continually activated due to the consistent review sessions.

Putting all this together, it’s no wonder Muslims were able to make such vast contributions to human knowledge in a relatively short amount of time, historically speaking. After the aspiring student during the height of Muslim rule has mastered the Quran, his education in other sciences began by the time he was in his early teenage years. Given the brain’s malleable nature, the improved connections in one region indirectly affect and improve functions in adjacent locations. The process in studying the Quran over the previous years has trained his brain and enhanced its functions relating to visual perception, language, working memory, memory formation, processing of sounds, attention, skill learning, inhibition, as well as planning just to name a few. Now imagine what such an individual will be able to do when they tackle any subject. It makes sense how someone like Imam Al Ghazali can say he studied Greek philosophy on the side during his spare time and mastered it within 2 years.

Facts are revealed in the verses through the scientific facts, the descriptionsof the past and the mathematical codes, that couldnever have been known to anyone at the time. The fact that some scientific facts we only attained with 20th and 21st-century technology were revealed in the Qur’an 1400 years ago is clear evidence that the Qur’an cannot be the work of any human being.

One of the verses that may be referring to the future is verse 73 of Surat al-Baqara:

Remember when you killed someone and violently accusedeach other of it, and Allah brought out what you were hiding. We said, ‘Hit him with part of it!’ In that way Allah gives life to the dead and He shows you His Signs so that hopefully you will understand. (Surat al-Baqara, 72-73)

Among the meanings of the Arabic term “biba’ d ih a ,” translated as “with part of it” in the above verse, is “someoneor some people.” In the contextof that meaning, the verse maybe a reference to heart massage, striking the chest from above, which makes it possible to restart the heart if ithas stopped beating. (Allah knows the truth.)

The person to whom the massage is administered has the characteristics of a dead body; loss of consciousness, and the cessation of respirationand heartbeat. With our present-day knowledge, heart massage can be applied to someone whose heart has stopped, enabling heartbeat and vital functions to resume. Pressure is applied to the rib cage at specific intervals duringheart massage, and the rhythmic contraction required for it to continue pumping blood is thus established.

In that context, the striking of a dead body in such a way as to restore it to life, as stated in the verse, may be suggestive ofthe heart massage technique. The Qur’an is the word of Almighty Allah, He Who createsall things from nothing, Whoseknowledge enfolds all things, and Who is unfettered by time and space. Every verse of the Qur’an therefore contains information revealed with the wisdom of our Almighty Lord. In one verse, Allah refers to theQur’an itself as follows:

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu‘ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu‘ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for you if you did but know!”

[al-Jumu’ah 62:9]

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Zaad al-Ma’aad (1/376):

Friday prayer is one of the most important obligations in Islam, and one of the greatest gatherings of the Muslims. Gathering on Friday is more important and more obligatory than any other gathering apart from ‘Arafah. Whoever neglects it, Allaah will place a seal on his heart.

It was narrated from Abu’l-Ja’d al-Damari – who was a companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever neglects three Jumu’ahs, Allaah will place a seal on his heart.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1052; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 928

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar and Abu Hurayrah that they heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say on the minbar:

“Let people stop neglecting Jumu’ah, or Allaah will place a seal on their hearts, then they will be among those who are neglectful.”

Narrated by Muslim, 865.

On this day there is a time when a person’s Lord will answer his du’aa’ – by Allaah’s leave.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned Friday and said: “On this day there is a time when no Muslim stands and prays, asking Allaah for something, but Allaah will grant him it” – and he gestured with his hands to indicate how short that time is.

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 893; Muslim, 852

3 – Reading Soorat al-Kahf.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khduri that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, he will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays.” Narrated by al-Haakim; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 836

4 – Sending a lot of blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

It was narrated from Aws ibn Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of your days is Friday. On that day Adam (peace be upon him) was created; on that day he died; on that day the Trumpet will be blown; and on that day all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me, for your blessings will be shown to me.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?” He said, “Allaah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets, peace be upon them.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1047; classed as saheeh by Ibn al-Qayyim in his comments on Sunan Abi Dawood, 4/273; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 925.

He said in ‘Awn al-Ma’bood:

Friday is singled out because it is the best of days and the chosen day. So there is an advantage to sending blessings upon him on that day that is not present on any other day.

Along with these virtues and acts of worship, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade singling out Friday for fasting, or singling out the night of Friday for doing acts of worship that are not narrated in sharee’ah.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not single out the night of Friday for qiyaam al-layl, and do not single out the day of Friday for fasting, unless that is part of the habitual fasting of any one of you.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 1144).

Al-San’aani said in Subul al-Salaam:

This hadeeth indicates that it is haraam to single out the night of Friday for worship or reading Qur’aan that is not one’s regular custom, apart from that which is indicated in the texts, such as reading Soorat al-Kahf.

Al-Nawawi said:

This hadeeth clearly states that it is forbidden to single out the night of Friday for prayer or the day of Friday for fasting. It is agreed (among the scholars) that this is makrooh.

He also said:

The scholars said that the reason why it is forbidden to single out Friday for fasting is that Friday is a day of du’aa’, dhikr and worship, such as ghusl, going early to the prayer, waiting for the prayer, listening to the khutbah and reciting a lot of dhikr afterwards, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then when the (Jumu‘ah) Salaah (prayer) is ended, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allaah (by working), and remember Allaah much”

[al-Jumu’ah 62:10]

And there are other acts of worship to be done on this day. So it is preferable not to fast then, as this will help a person to perform these duties in an energetic manner and enjoy them without feeling bored or tired. This is like the pilgrim on the day of ‘Arafah in ‘Arafah, because the Sunnah is for him not to fast on that day for the same reason… This is the reason for not allowing singling out Friday for fasting. And it was said that the reason is so that people will not go to extremes in venerating it as happened in the case of Saturday. But this view is weak, because on that day we offer Jumu’ah prayer and do other acts of worship which are a kind of veneration. And it was said that the reason for its prohibition is so that people would not think that this was obligatory. This is also a weak view because it is encouraged to fast on Mondays and there was no fear that anyone would think it was obligatory. No attention should be paid to this far-fetched view. The same argument is applicable in the case of fasting the day of ‘Arafah and the day of ‘Ashoora’, etc. The correct view is that which we have stated above.

Valentine’s Day and Islam

It’s that time of the year again where an annual ritual takes the world by frenzy, and sweeps along the Muslims with it. Now it’s the turn of Valentine’s Day.

It shouldn’t take too much to work out that Valentine’s Day has nothing to do with Islam, thereby it should also have nothing to do with Muslims. However, many a Muslim will be taking part in this festivity, which is steeped in illicit relationships, promotes such things and devalues the honour of men, women and families. You may think, that’s a very strong thing to say about something as harmless as remembering to be loving to your wife and making the day special for her. But if Muslims engage in festivities that are not Islamic in nature or origin, then this is a grave thing, as revealed in the Qur’an:

“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers” [Surah Aal ‘Imraan, 3:85]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned us of our following the ways of the Jews and Christians and those who came before us:

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you, span by span, cubit by cubit, until even if they were to enter a lizard’s hole, you would follow them.” We said, “O Messenger of Allaah, (do you mean) the Jews and Christians?” He said, “Who else?!” [Sahih Bukhari]

The following is an excerpt from a book by Shaikh Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid, which explains the origins of Valentine’s Day.

THE STORY OF THE FESTIVAL OF LOVE (Valentine’s Day)

The Festival of Love was one of the festivals of the pagan Romans, when paganism was the prevalent religion of the Romans more than seventeen centuries ago. In the pagan Roman concept, it was an expression of “spiritual love”. There were myths associated with this pagan festival of the Romans, which persisted with their Christian heirs. Among the most famous of these myths was the Roman belief that Romulus, the founder of Rome, was suckled one day by a she-wolf, which gave him strength and wisdom.

The Romans used to celebrate this event in mid-February each year with a big festival. One of the rituals of this festival was the sacrifice of a dog and a goat. Two strong and muscular youths would daub the blood of the dog and goat onto their bodies, then they would wash the blood away with milk. After that there would be a great parade, with these two youths at its head, which would go about the streets. The two youths would have pieces of leather with which they would hit everyone who crossed their path. The Roman women would welcome these blows, because they believed that they could prevent or cure infertility.

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SAINT VALENTINE AND THIS FESTIVAL

Saint Valentine is a name which is given to two of the ancient “martyrs” of the Christian Church. It was said that there were two of them, or that there was only one, who died in Rome as the result of the persecution of the Gothic leader Claudius, c. 296 CE. In 350 CE, a church was built in Rome on the site of the place where he died, to perpetuate his memory. When the Romans embraced Christianity, they continued to celebrate the Feast of Love mentioned above, but they changed it from the pagan concept of “spiritual love” to another concept known as the “martyrs of love”, represented by Saint Valentine who had advocated love and peace, for which cause he was martyred, according to their claims. It was also called the Feast of Lovers, and Saint Valentine was considered to be the patron saint of LOVERS.

One of their false beliefs connected with this festival was that the names of girls who had reached marriageable age would be written on small rolls of paper and placed in a dish on a table. Then the young men who wanted to get married would be called, and each of them would pick a piece of paper. He would put himself at the service of the girl whose name he had drawn for one year, so that they could find out about one another. Then they would get married, or they would repeat the same process again on the day of the festival in the following year.

The Christian clergy reacted against this tradition, which they considered to have a corrupting influence on the morals of young men and women. It was abolished in Italy, where it had been well-known, then it was revived in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when in some western countries there appeared shops which sold small books called “Valentine’s books”, which contained love poems, from which the one who wanted to send a greeting to his sweetheart could choose. They also contained suggestions for writing love letters.

It was also said concerning the origins of this holiday that when the Romans became Christian, after Christianity had become widespread, the Roman emperor Claudius II decreed in the third century CE that soldiers should not get married, because marriage would distract them from the wars they used to fight. This decree was opposed by Saint Valentine, who started to perform marriages for the soldiers in secret. When the emperor found out about that, he threw him in jail and sentenced him to execution. In prison, he (Saint Valentine) fell in love with the jailer’s daughter, but this was a secret because according to Christian laws, priests and monks were forbidden to marry or fall in love. But he is still regarded highly by the Christians because of his steadfastness in adhering to Christianity when the emperor offered to pardon him if he forsook Christianity and worshipped the Roman gods; then he would be one of his closest confidantes and he would make him his son-in-law. But Valentine refused this offer and preferred Christianity, so he was executed on 14 February 270 CE, on the eve of February 15, the festival of Lupercalis. So this day was named for this saint.

In The Story of Civilisation, it says that the Church devised a calendar in which every day was designated as the feast day of one of the saints. In England, Saint Valentine’s Day was to come at the end of winter. When that day came, according to them, the birds mated enthusiastically in the forests, and the young men would put flowers on the windowsills of the homes of the girls whom they loved. (The Story of Civilization by Will Durant, 15/23). The Pope designated the day of the death of Saint Valentine, February 14, 270 CE, as a festival of love.

We should not fall into the same mistakes that the Jews and the Christians fell into:

“They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allaah)…” [Surah Al-Tawbah 9:31]

MUSLIMS, DISTANCE YOURSELF FROM VALENTINE’S DAY

From the above, we can see many religious reasons why taking part in Valentine’s Day is at odds with Islam. The Day itself has roots in paganism and we have been instructed to not follow the rituals and ways of the Jews and the Christians.

Remember, we are Muslims and we distinguish ourselves as being Muslims and following Islam. There is no need to follow the tradition of another religion or pagan ritual, especially if we have been Commanded by Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) not to. Allah Has Prescribed for us the festivities we should follow and there is no need to add to this by following something else.

Muslims are not Christians, pagans, jews, buddhists, hindus, sikhs, atheists or belonging to any other religion or way of life. Muslims are Muslims and follow Islam. By celebrating Valentine’s Day, you are actually following something else. And this undermines the strength of the Ummah. This is one of the reasons why the Ummah is weak – we do not adhere to Islam and only Islam. There is nothing wrong with saying that you are a Muslim and so do not celebrate Valentine’s Day. Non-Muslims respect this but it seems that Muslims do not want to feel like they are upsetting others.

The following hadiths are examples of how Muslims should not imitate the actions of non-Muslims.

On the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Aas who said: “The Messenger of Allah saw me wearing two saffron garments and he said: ‘Indeed these are from the dress of the Kuffaar so do not wear them.’ [Collected by Muslim (1/144), An-Nisaaee (2/298), Al-Haakim (4/190), and Ahmad in his Musnad (2/172, 164, 193, 207, and 211)]

At-Tirmidhi narrated that Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that the Prophet Sallalahu Aliehi Wasallam said: “He is not one of us who imitates other than us. Do not imitate the Jews or the Christians.”

At-Tabarani and Abu Dawud narrated that Ibn Umar and Hudhayfah (RA) reported that the Prophet Sallalahu Aliehi Wasallam said: “Whoever imitates a people, he is one of them.”

Al-Bayhaqi reported in his Sunan that Anas Bin Maalik (RA) said: “When the Prophet Sallalahu Aliehi Wasallam came to Medina, the people had two holidays from the days of Jahiliyyah.”

He said: “When I came to you, you had two days which you used to celebrate in Jahiliyyah. Allah has replaced them for you with better days, the days of slaughter (Adhaa) and the day of fitr.”

Finally, we need to look at the context in which Valentine’s Day has taken hold in the modern world. Although it is focused around expressing love, Valentine’s Day sets no boundaries. There are many boys and girls, men and women, who start off illicit relationships, outside of marriage, through Valentine’s Day. People send Valentine’s cards to each other, hinting to them at ‘secret loves and crushes’, encouraging the other party to look into this further, teasing their curiousity, which ends up indirectly (or even directly) promoting fornication and adultery (zina).

Living in places like the UK, where Valentine’s Day is a major thing across the country. It is not easy for the Muslim youth to stay firm on Islam – the influences that they are feeling, the peer pressure that they face, needs to be challenged. This can only be done by upright Muslims, standing up and showing themselves to be Muslims, following Islam and showing a better way of living than taking part in rituals like Valentine’s Day.

Muslims do express love but they do this in a halaal way, amongst husband and wife, in halaal relationships and without crossing boundaries that have been Put in place, with infinite Wisdom, by Allah. We do not restrict this to a single day and are instructed to be kind and generous and considerate to our spouses at all times.

Muslims need to start standing up for Islam and stop acting like non-Muslims. We are not pagans, taking part in rituals that have no significance with Allah.

This is not about Muslims being segregated from society but more the opposite. This is about Muslims standing up and being identified as Muslims – not as though they have some confused fusion of identities. Islam is clear and Muslims need to be also. By being identified as Muslims, what Muslims stand for, what Islam stands for, you will gain respect from other Muslims, gain understanding and respect from non-Muslims and start to create societies where Muslims can be seen to have their place. This is about societies welcoming Muslims and Islam – it isn’t about eating into Islamic identity, which is what those Muslims are doing who are taking part in Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Easter, Diwali, Hannukah and other non-Islamic festivals.

Explain to non-Muslims about Islamic values and how we celebrate on Eid. They are not aliens and will understand.

Muslims… you need to act like Muslims and BE Muslims, following Islam and showing everyone the beauty of Islam.
