These are from my recent trip to Kuching, Serawak, Malaysia and Boracay, Philippines in the last few days of January. It was a such a short yet lovely work/pleasure trip.

When in Kuching, I got to drink alcohol again after 2 years! I never thought I'd miss drinking beer. LOL

As always, I am forever thankful for the wonderful and awfully nice people I get to meet and know in all these travels. They inspire me greatly :)

The Boracay trip was my much needed vacation with my close friends in college. I'm glad I was able to go as I won't be able to see them in a long while.

I am currently in Jakarta and having a hard time sleeping even though I've been working since 3 in the morning with less than 3 hours of sleep. This has been an exhausting, yet very rewarding day :)

Yesterday, I got to visit a designer and a photographer's place here in the central part of the city and I have been inspired more than ever! Not only was I inspired by the interiors, but after I found his hardbound copy of Tim Walker's Pictures and Vivian Maier's picture book, I died.

Free day tomorrow so hopefully I get to roam about the city and explore new things, foods and places.

Posting some old pictures of me by Pleiocene in Baguio last December just to let you know I am still alive. Work has consumed me right after New Year that I barely had the time to shoot personal stuffs. I miss it a lot especially now that I moved to the Big city. Despite the daily, heavy workload, I am still constantly looking for a new muse and new places for personal shoots here in Manila. I will be flying to Malaysia, Boracay and Indonesia in the next two and a half weeks for work and pleasure. Im excited and will be exhausted in the coming days, but the experience will be worth it. So many hours will be spent on flying and waiting but I haven't had an alone time in a long while, so I guess this will be a good excuse.

Let's hope the airport x-rays are film safe so I will have something to share when I get back :)

Some pictures from my new baby, Lucy (Pentax K1000).

I didn't take a lot of travel photos this whole of November even though I've been moving/going to places a few times (I've a roll left from my latest trip to Singapore for the 5th and last time this year that I still have to get processed). I don't know why but I think I may have lived for the moment most of the time that I seldom remember to take a picture. I am terrible at chronicling my life that way sometimes.

Apart from that, this month has ended wonderfully.

Sorrel was free of school for today and so I asked her to model for me for the millionth time with my new Instax wide. Instaxes frame their own way and I have trouble with framing, as you can see from some of the shots here. I used about 16 films and so far I have about 4 that didn't make it.

These are two rooms in our little house, one is mine (which up to now is still under renovation and the other is my parents' (which will also undergo renovation soon). I hope you find my parent's wallpaper lovely as I find it rather handsome. My dad saw rolls of it at an abandoned house and took it home. Now I have a set to shoot for when I needed one. I love my dad! :)

October was an over-all good month. I've so many memories from these trips, both lovely and sad; been to few other places that I failed to take pictures of and met so many nice people along the way. It was heartbreaking to watch the days pass by so quickly but it brought a smile to my face when I knew that there will be more to look forward to in the future.

I wonder what's in store for me this November.

For now, I hope everyone had an amazing October!

Shot for Anonym Issue 9

I promise this will be the last for now of my obsession for black and white photographs. The two lovely girls in these pictures are Marga Koopmans and Sajarah Galvez. The rest of these pictures are up on my WEBSITE as well.

September and October has been an okay month for me and I have not been quite productive in terms of shooting pictures as busy months are starting at work which means my days are mostly spent on airplanes, airports and hotel rooms (not complaining though hehe).

I might not be able to update even more here on my blog too but I promise I will be back with some lovely stuffs to share. I've already gathered some clothes I got off thrift and vintage stores and some from my trips.

A little something different :)

I've been meaning to share these a few months back but I waited for awhile since it was supposed to be in an online publication. But I had been informed earlier that the zine will now cease to exist due to some legal matters. It was a really good magazine with features from upcoming talented artists and it's just heartbreaking to know that it will no longer undergo any production :(

The lovely girl in these photos is Rikkah Formaran and the wonderful Kat San Juan helped me put on the sequins on her eyes. The rest of the photos are up on my WEBSITE.

I am terribly sorry for being such an irresponsible blogger. I hope I get to share a lot in the coming months as I will be on the road again starting next week.

I can't believe this month is coming to an end! Boy, oh boy. I think I've spent the whole of August watching chick flicks and period dramas and eating far too many donuts. Oh and every weekend, taking a bunch of photos of my favorite girls. I'm still waiting for my films and other stuffs so there's nothing special to share as of the moment. Hopefully before the month ends I'll be able to, even just a few.

I've also been listening to a lot of awesome new bands lately and a whole lot of 90s music.

It's been a while since I haven't gone to the sea and actually sit on the sand and relax. Nowadays, I think relaxing is sleeping during flights. Thankfully, this month I won't be able to travel much so I'd probably take my friends out with me to nearby beaches and just lay on the sand and listen to one of nature's most wonderful sounds; the sound of the waves crashing.

However, from where I'm from, the waves are not strong enough unlike that in Bali where the waves are too powerful that activities like surfing would be most enjoyed. I'd really love to try out surfing when I go back to Bali again. I'd love to try how to be able to ride the waves and how it would feel like to be hit by the currents.

photos from forever ago as I'm feeling nostalgic and missing the woods as of the moment.

Blogging in Singapore because I cannot sleep even though I've been working since 4 in the morning.

This weekend is the last day of the great Singapore Sale and I'm so proud of myself for not buying any clothes/bags/shoes thus saving me from next month's budget dilemma. I don't feel like spending money on clothes nowadays rather, I feel a lot happier when Im spending it in decorating/renovating my little room.
There is this one shop at Wisma Atria Mall in Orchard Road called Typo that almost got me spending had we not been rushing to go back to the hotel because it was so late. They sell lovely paper products, wall decors, canvas bird paintings in pastel colors and some wood letters. I only got to peek for about 2 minutes so I wasn't able to see what else they were selling. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a few pictures and their website did not do justice http://typoshop.com.au/
I will be back again in October and hopefully I get to stop by, secretly take a few pictures and maybe buy some of those lovely stuffs.

I also met some new friends (Alice and Ping) and a few old ones
(my friend/bride client/ parent from another life, Felicity and her hubby Ketch) that I finally managed to meet again after their wedding last December. They toured me around Bugis area where I saw some small shops that sell sorta like Korean-ish, Mori-girl style clothes. There were so many beautiful clothes that it was so hard for me to choose a few, so I ended up not buying anything LOL

Tomorrow evening, I will be flying back to the Philippines and I cannot wait to go back home. Also, this week is my (almost) free week, so Im hoping I'll be quite productive this time and do some sets as I'd like to keep this blog more updated than ever.

A few shots I managed to get while we were in Singapore about a week ago. We were mostly out at night and I wasn't able to bring higher asa films, so I ended up not taking shots while we were walking and dining out around Marina Bay Sands area (and SG is mostly known for it's sceneries at night!) :(

Also, before that, we were in Bangkok and Hua Hin in Thailand for 2 days and we're always in such a hurry that I ended up just taking a few shots of the streets of Bangkok but ended up underexposed when I got my negs as it was cloudy and rainy the whole time we were there :(

Crossing my fingers, I will be back there again and take more decent shots.

Though I failed at taking lots of photographs during these trips, the memories and the people that I met in my 9-day trip to Bangkok and Singapore made up for it. We met and made a lot of friends from all over the world. They are one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people and I'm so lucky to be able to experience learning from their culture and their works and we are just as lucky to be able to impart our knowledge in our field as well.

As i am typing this, I am packing as I will be leaving for Singapore again the next day. I hope to take more photos this time *crossing fingers for the nth time*.

A weekend in the woods and at sea

The weekend before the last was truly, truly awesome. I had to stay in a little cabin in the woods for a day with my friends from church in a place not too far from where I live. There were about 15 of us and the morning greeted us with sounds of birds chirping and little sunlight here and there seeping in between the clouds. It was a little foggy and cold and the it smelled of soil and barks of trees and freshly cut grass.

I get to ride at the back of a motorcycle again after probably 18 years and the view is way better when in a motorcycle when passing by tall trees than in a car.

Later in the morning I met up with my other friends and newly-found friends to go swimming and cliff-diving in a small place in an island 15-minute boat ride plus 30 minute by land to where I live. I ended up not diving since I didn't bring extra clothes so I spent the rest of the time cheering for my friends who did.

We also stayed under this little cave where we felt like mermaids. It was so calm and beautiful that we wish we'd just live there forever.

I didn't do Bali justice with these photos. It was hard to take lots of pictures since we went there for work. Most of these were just stolen shots in between shoots. Hopefully, next time I get to go back, like for a vacation and tour a lot around and maybe I'll be able to go and try surfing too. :)

After months of persuasion, I finally succumbed to my friend Marga's request to take my picture with make-up and such. She did the styling and hair and make-up as well. Sadly though, we only get to do this rather quickly, around 15 minutes, as it was really late and we didn't have much natural light. These were already taken at around 6:15-6:30 pm a few moments after sunset. Huge credit goes to the 50 1.2 lens that we borrowed from a friend :)

She also did a really lovely post about me on her blog HERE. Thanks Maggie, yer ze best! <3

I also took black and white film photos of our friend Sorrel who happened to be there too. She was the model at first and I'm the photographer, then afterwards, I get to be the model and she gets to be the assistant while Marga is taking my picture. It was so much fun especially because we really are running out of natural light and the battery's dying on us every few minutes.

I will get them processed in Manila probably next week since I'm leaving town again tomorrow. If the pictures turn out great, I'll probably choose that set for a group exhibition outside the country. *fingers crossed*

As I am writing this, It's Valentines Day and I'm at home with my family. We had this kind of barbecue party and my dad cooked our favorite Filipino foods while mom's preparing all the other stuffs, like getting the karaoke ready. :)

No date for me this year hehe

Now, I have to get back to eating the Oreo cheesecake when I'm done typing.

These photos were from a lovely day out with my friend Rikkah Formaran last January 27 (my only free day before leaving town again). We had tons of fun wandering about that hidden pond (?). It's beside a river but we didn't take pictures there for fear that snakes might randomly pop out. It is also beside a secluded street where some student drivers practice. It was kind of awkward though, since I don't think they were really test driving at that time, instead they kept on looking at us. It was so lame, we had to laugh.

I used two different films for this and two different sets, so I will be posting the rest of the pictures in due time.
