The Melia Benoa Indonesia - All Inclusive was honoured as the 1^st Prize Winner of the Family Planning and Staff Welfare Competition – in Company Category (Province of Bali Level) after a long assessment in the regency and then in province level, as the next step of the competition.

As seen on the picture, Mr. Gede Arjana as the Melia Benoa representative was honoured the 1^st Prize Winner throphy by Mr. Made Mangku Pastika, the Governor of Bali Province.

Beach Clean Up Around Bali

The Melia Benoa in collaboration with the Bali Hotels Association and the Environment & Conservatory Authority has successfully conducted the programme of "Beach Clean Up Around Bali" on August 27th, 2010. The main objective of this agenda was to clean plastic garbages on the beach. In order to support this event, all of the Bali Hotels Association members were encouraged to participate in this program by coordinating their staff to clean their own beach areas.

Emergency Earthquake and Fire Simulation Drill

The regular Emergency Earthquake and Fire Drill have been conducted at the Meliá Benoa to assure that each member of our internal fire brigade is able to perform the member's assigned duties (employees) and functions satisfactorily and in a safe manner so as not to endanger fire brigade members or other employees. The emergency drill was also aimed to assure that employees who are expected to do interior structural emergency/ fire fighting are physically capable of performing duties which may be assigned to them during emergencies.

In order to outcome best achievement, the training were divided into 2 (two) parts. The first part was the theory , which was conducted on April 2010 and have collaborated with the professional instructor/ trainer from the Fire Brigade Department of Badung Regency to provide the theory and other important informations.

And for practicing the theory, on June 2010, we have conducted the Emergency Earthquake and Fire Drill which was directly coordinated by the General Manager: Mr. Juan Antonio Sanchez. In this simulation, collaboration and supports also came from the Fire Fighter Department of the Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) and Surya Husada Hospital for the ambulance and paramedics support, and not to mention considerable numbers of our in-house guest paricipants.

How to Upload Photos from Handphone to Facebook

It is becoming more and more popular and convenient to take photos via the cellphone. If you are a Facebook enthusiast and like to take photo via your cellphone, you could save the trouble to download the photos to your computer and to upload it again to your Facebook account. What you need to do is to activate your Facebook mobile and upload the photos from your mobile phone straight away.

Just follow the few steps below:

1. Go to the picture in your cellphone which you wish to send to Facebook.

2. Select either the Send as email or Email photo function in the menu on your cellphone.

3. When a new message appears (with the selected photo attached), key in mobile@facebook.com in the ‘To:’ Textbox.

4. Key in the title of your photo in the subject column.

5. Choose ‘Send’.

6. Once your cellphone receives an email of notification from Facebook, you will receive a code or password.

7. Check that you are logged onto your Facebook account and go to Facebook

8. Click on the Activate Facebook Mobile button.

9. Click on ‘Sign Up Here’ and ‘Confirm your phone’ at the bottom of the page.

10. Look for the Beneath the ‘Already have a confirmation code’ and click.

11. Key in your password when prompted with ‘Input the code you received in your email’ and ‘Confirm’.

Spam Email Outlook Express

Stopping or preventing Spam using Outlook Express message rules

Here are some useful tips to employ Outlook Express message rules to stop and prevent spam from reaching your INBOX to a reasonable level. But before going to dig deeper, here is a brief on spam because only when you understand it will you be able to prevent and stop it.

Spam is unwanted or unsolicited email - messages that you never asked for. Spam is sent by losers and low-lives who have nothing better to do to get people into buying their products/services. Spam can also take the form of phishing attacks - fraud emails. As we understand that spam are strongly negative because of their unscrupulous nature. Some of these email messages are downright degrading and very embarrassing - yes, those containing products/services enhancing the libido or the genitalia. .

Identifying words in spam using Outlook Express message rules

So how the spam can be automatically screen? One of the nest ways is to "catch" certain words in the email subject and body (message content).

Create a new message rule and select "Where the Subject line contains specific words" and "Where the message body contains specific words" as conditions and "Delete it from server" as the action. Then click on the blue links in the Rule Description box to bring up the "Type Specific Words" dialog box and enter the offending words. Please refer the two images below.

In the above example, put in words like Viagra, botox, mortgage etc. and yes, don't forget those four letter words that are so common in spam. You need to enter these specific words for both the email subject and the email message contents. And once your are done, you can give a name to the new rule and click on the OK button.

Filtering and stopping large emails that can be potential spam through Outlook Express rules

Another Outlook Express rule is using to ward off spam to capture the email size and if its too large, retain it on the server to be checked manually through webmail.

Select "Where the message size is more than size" and "Where the message has an attachment" as conditions and "Do not Download it from the server" as the action. Now specify the size by clicking on its blue link in the Rule description which brings up the Set Size dialog box. I use 10MB which is 10,000 KB. You can set your own limits.

Also to note that the word "and" is also a link. Clicking on it opens the And/Or box. Here you can instruct whether both the conditions defined should be applicable for the messages or only one would suffice. The suggestion to select "Messages match all of the criteria" else any email with any attachments will be held up on the server.

Since large emails with attachments have not been downloaded from the server, you can check them using webmail to determine if they are indeed spam or harmless emails.

Difference Between "Diet Coke" and "Coke Zero"

Both ‘Diet Cokes’ and ‘Coke Zero’ are low calorie soft drinks compared to regular coke. Both have similar ingredients which are carbonated purified water, flavour, artificial sweeteners aspartame, acesulphame potassium, preservative and caffeine.

Diet Coke came on market in 1982; preferred by many in America and became the number one sugar-free drink. Diet Coke is also known as ‘Coca-Cola light’ in some countries and it is the No. 3 soft drink in the world. It is preferred by people who want no calories, but plenty of taste. Diet coke comes in many different flavours such as Black Cherry Cola Vanilla, Cola, Cola Green Tea, Cola Lemon, Cola Lemon Lime, Cola Lime, Cola Orange and Cola Raspberry.

But Coke Zero only offers’ Coca-Cola’ taste with zero calories. It is preferred mostly by young adults and it is sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium (Ace K).
So overall the only key difference between the two drinks is in the proportions of the ingredients, which actually give different flavour profile.

Coke Zero has 0.5 kilocalories per 100ml while Diet Coke contains 1 calorie. It’s been believed that men are more reluctant to buy diet coke because the word ‘diet’ associated with women. The Difference Between Windows XP and Vista

It would seem that most individuals have become so accustomed and comfortable with using Windows XP that many don’t want to make the transition over to the Windows Vista. Technically, we are creatures of habit so when it comes to making changes it’s not all that easy.

Like most things there are good and bad points about both XP and Vista.

The start menu is more advanced in Vista compared to XP. With Vista, you have a much broader range of search leverage. Another significant change is in the “All Programs” area. XP can be somewhat of a problem to keep the programs organized when you have several whereas with the Vista the programs are scrolled within the start menu making it much less confusing when you want to find a particular program.

Everyone finds the “All Programs List” in XP frustrating. It can be overwhelming with its 3 column wide display. Now in Vista the folders open and close with a single click. In addition to this in Vista, the ability to search is always present. This way to find something you just type the item and all related items appear quickly.

In Vista there is a power button in the bottom right hand corner. This allows all the pending updates to be installed and then once the update process is completed puts the computer into sleep mode. This is not something that XP has.

In XP when you want to perform the lock function you have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del whereas in Vista there is a simple lock button that will perform the task. In addition to these power functions, you will find other related power functions available to you by way of a pop up menu. In essence, these are all merely time savers and a means of convenience.

According to Microsoft, security of Windows Vista is much improved than XP. As part of this, a new feature called UAC (User Account Control) is included in Vista.

One of the critical differences between both, is the hardware requirements. To achieve the same level of performance as XP, Vista requires more advanced or additional hardware .

Quite often, when one becomes comfortable with a Program such as XP, they really don’t place a lot of emphasis on small time savers. (source: http://www.differencebetween.net)

What is the difference between Laptop and Notebook computer?

Although laptops and notebooks have very similar traits such as they are both portable and you can take them anywhere, there are some differences between both of them.

Notebook computers are designed to allow you to do computer work while on the go and still offer all the power mobile users require for entertainment as well as work. This type of computer usually is not cheap and your top of the line notebooks can be very expensive.

Notebook computers are ultra light, which makes it easier for you to take it anywhere you want. The lesser the weight the better for you! It has 4 hours plus battery life, and it has a low profile, which means it’s thin. In addition, it doesn’t have an internal floppy disk, nor do you have the ability to utilize CDs or DVD’s. It has a minimal graphics subsystem.
In addition to this, it has an integrated modem. If you require the services of the internet, that’s not a problem as it has a network connection. It’s screen is about 12″-14″ long and it has a keyboard that is just big enough to be functional.

Now as for a laptop, the name says it all. It is a portable unit meant for you to be able to work with while resting on your lap. In comparison to the notebook, it looks quite large and has lots of power with several features. The standard laptop should have most if not all the following features:

Laptops usually are a little bigger than notebook computers and a little heavier than they are.
They have an Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon graphics subsystem, Internal DVD-RW drive, an integrated modem, network and WI-FI capabilities.
The speakers are a integrated high quality system.
It also has at least 2 hour plus battery life.
The keyboard is large enough to be used conveniently.
Laptops screens are at least 14″-17″ long.
Also laptops are very upgradeable.

As you can see from the above information, there are many similarities as well as differences that exist between a notebook and laptop.

Nyepi is a Balinese “Day of Silence” that falls on Bali’s Lunar New Year (March 16, 2010) or I caka New Year 1932 in Bali. It is a day of silence, fasting, and meditation. In regard with this celebration, it is strictly prohibited to conduct the following activities :
• No light may be lit
• No work may be done
• No travel may be carried out and
• No amusement may be made

During Nyepi Day, all entry to Bali via air and sea ports will be closed. Customary dispensations which is issued by the traditional villages, will be given to those carrying the sick, women giving birth to a child or to those who are in a hazardous condition.

The lead up to Nyepi day is as follows:

Tawur Kesanga (the day before Nyepi)

Exactly one day before Nyepi, all villages in Bali hold a large exorcism ceremony
at the main village cross road, the meeting place of demons. They usually make
Ogoh-ogoh (the fantastic monsters or evil spirits or the Butha Kala made of
bamboo) for carnival purposes. The Ogoh-ogoh monsters symbolize the evil spirits
surrounding our environment which have to be got rid of from our lives . The
carnivals themselves are held all over Bali following sunset. Bleganjur, a Balinese
gamelan music accompanies the procession. Some are giants taken from classical Balinese lore. All have fangs, bulging eyes and scary hair and are illuminated by torches. The procession is usually organised by the Seka Teruna, the youth organization of Banjar. When Ogoh-ogoh is being played by the Seka Teruna, everyone enjoys the carnival. In order to make a harmonic relation between human being and God, human and human, and human and their environments, Tawur Kesanga is performed in every level of society, from the people’s house. In the evening, the Hindus celebrating Ngerupuk, start making noises and light burning torches and set fire to the Ogoh-ogoh in order to get the Bhuta Kala, evil spirits, out of our lives.

Nyepi

On Nyepi day itself, every street is quiet - there are nobody doing their normal daily activities. There is usually Pecalangs (traditional Balinese security man) who controls and checks for street security. Pecalang wear a black uniform and a Udeng or Destar (a Balinese traditional “hat” that is usually used in ceremony). The Pecalangs main task is not only to control the security of the street but also to stop any activities that disturb Nyepi. No traffic is allowed, not only cars but also people, who have to stay in their own houses. Light is kept to a minimum or not at all, the radio or TV is turned down and, of course, no one works. Even love making, this ultimate activity of all leisure times, is not supposed to take place, nor even attempted. The whole day is simply filled with the barking of a few dogs, the shrill of insect and is a simple long quiet day in the calendar of this otherwise hectic island. On Nyepi the world expected to be clean and everything starts anew, with Man showing his symbolic control over himself and the “force” of the World, hence the mandatory religious control.

Ngembak Geni (the day after Nyepi)

Ngembak is the day when Catur Berata Penyepian is over and Hindus societies usually visit to forgive each other and doing the Dharma Canthi. Dharma Canthi are activities of reading Sloka, Kekidung, Kekawin, etc.(ancient scripts containing songs and lyrics).
