In the 1980′s New Balance made waves by introducing a running shoe with a one-piece mid sole. This allowed for maximum cushioning, support, and shock absorption while running. These days the model is more often seen being worn as casual footwear with the occasional jogger seen sporting the classic style. This newest incarnation of the New Balance M1500UK pays homage to the shoe’s heritage as a running shoe. Rather than dressing it up in suede and high end materials, this M1500UK uses nubuck, mesh, and bright primary colours to make reference to the shoe’s original purpose. Fixed Gear London has built a Vans bike. The bike comes in matt black with shiny black accents, which turned out really nice. Most of the bike features the signature Vans check pattern, which thanks to the black on black design does not come out too strong. The bike is now on display at the Vans Store in London.

Well, I think ya all have read something about these benches lately:

It´s the Blackriver “Streetbench” on the left and the KL-Wood “Streetbench” on the right.
The design seems to be the same in general, but if you compare those benches the´re not the same.
A lot people yelling at Blackriver they copied this bench from KL-Wood and Blackriver told us, it´s inspired by skateboarding. In my opinion both benches are inspired by skateboarding and I won´t take any postion in this discussion, if you like the red one, buy the KL-Wood and if you like the wood one, buy the Blackriver.

I just wanna tell you somethig more to think about:

When I´ve started fingerboardTV, there weren´t that much fingerboard sites up the web. TODAY there are a lot sites online, some of them still copy fingerboardTV 100% and some not, but at least every single “author” is writing down youtube comments like “It´s on fingerboardXYZ.com!”. You should know, I started this, now everyone is doing this. Do I yell because of this?
Some of the sites started as FBTV copy and they get now support from all the big companies, they got webshops, they earn money +++, is this fair? I don´t think so. We´re still a no budget project.

Another thing: You all know Berlinwood? The first real fingerboard company for wooden fingerboards! Please start counting how many companies are out there with the second word “wood”. This is insane. Timo yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

Another thing: How many companies copy unique Blackriver-Ramps? Martin yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

Another thing: Flaki started engraving fingerboard decks by hand with some really dope stuff! Now many companies got engraved boards. Flaki yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

Another thing: Harry started filming his ASI Berlin videos on granite. Now every kid got granite and copys the Harrics look. Harry yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

Another thing: Have you seen the shit load of Flashbone bag fakes??? Milan yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

Another thing: Winkler Wheels. Look at the huge load of pro fingerboard wheels out there. Well, Winkler did almost everything at first in fingerboard wheel technology. Martin yells at everyone??? Is this fair? I don´t think so.

These are just some examples I´ve choosen. I could tell you even more than hundred things about copy/fake/whatever situations in fingerboarding. Look around the internet, you´ll find a lot!

1. What is your earliest skate memory?
My earliest memory is the first time I ever stepped on a skateboard. It was in our alley in San Diego when I was nine. My brother Steve was already an avid skater, so I wanted to try it also. I succeeded in making it to the end of the alley while yelling back to Steve: "How do I turn?". I eventually had to step off and pick up the board in order to turn it around.

2. What is your best memory of the Bones Brigade?
The best memories I have of the Bones Brigade were during the shooting of Animal Chin. We basically lived with each other for nearly three months, all the while feeding off of each others creativity. All we cared about was skating, so it gave us many opportunities to try out new terrains while learning from each other. I think most of us grew up during that era.

3. Most important contest?
The most important contest for me was the 1988 finals in Dayton Ohio. I had done well in the two series before, but never skated to my full potential in the finals (both Vision contests). It was the first time that I had ever practiced a line before ever getting to a particular contest which paid off in the end. I even made a 720, which was rare for me in a competition.

4. What is your favorite trick?
My favorite trick is a backside ollie because it feels like I have so much control of my board by only using my feet.

5. Describe your ultimate Skatepark?
Woodward Skate Camp with more realistic street structures.

Steve Caballero

Steve Caballero "Cab" is one of skateboarding's Legends. He was first sponsored by Campbell Skatepark in 1979 (this was a year after he picked up the sport), and later that year got picked up by Powell Peralta. He has been with Powell since that time. Steve invented the "Caballaerial" and was known for huge (11 foot) backside airs. When asked, "What advice do you have about longevity?", Cab told Thrasher magazine: "Just having a nice, positive attitude towards everything that has to do with skateboarding... Skateboarding is my whole life -- ever since I was thirteen years old. Basically, I've made a career out of it and I enjoy it as much as I did when I first started." - Steve Caballero
