My rant and questions are why did the Jets release Tim Tebow? I mean why did you even trade for him to begin with? Perhaps the easiest answer to this question is you traded for him because you knew he would sell. His merchandise, his personality, his overall rating as a player who sells is high.

Now after the draft is over and most if not all teams have got their man at the QB position you release him. WTF?

Drought That's What it's All About Just Ask Pebbles

Remember when? Yeah, well me either it appears, but it seems like it used to be much hotter in what I know of as the "Dog Days of Summer"! Not really as it has been very very hot these past few seasons of summer. However this winter or in the past couple of weeks actually we have even had some snow. Now that is a little unusual if you compare it to the past few years. So at least the 20 inches of snow we received will help a little this springtime. Hopefully the wheat, Kansas is known as the wheat state, will get off to a good start this year.

Lately here in the Midwest at least in our neck of the woods, July and for that matter, June as well has been much hotter than August. Sometimes I wonder why this is but for the most part it's not that important. I am not a farmer, I don't work outdoors very often and fortunately I can for the most part spend most of my time indoors. So no it really does not affect me that much. But I do pay bills and the electric bill is less expensive the past couple of years in the month of August compared to June/July.

I think we had over 25 days at or above 100 degrees for June/July of 2012. Needless to say we broke a few records in the last couple of years due to the heat and heat index.

As I said we did get some snow and a little rain with more in the forecast, but still not nearly enough to make up for the lack of it in the past couple of years . I think we are something like 20 inches below normal in rainfall for the past couple of years. I know it is like this all over the Midwest. We have 105 counties in our state and this past or last summer Marshall county was considered as a drought disaster county which unfortunately puts all Kansas counties in this declaration. The Governor made the following statement that day.

"The updated drought declaration has all 105 counties in an emergency status. This status triggers the Kansas Water Office (KWO) and Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) to issue a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for emergency use of state fishing lake storage under conditions of drought emergency declared by the Governor. This action was recommended by Tracy Streeter, Director of the KWO and Chair of the Governor’s Drought Response Team.

Our focus at this time is to ensure communities, livestock producers and farmers have the available resources they need,” said Tracy Streeter, Director of the Kansas Water Office and Chair of the Governor’s Drought Response Team. “This MOU would allow small communities and producers to pump water from certain state fishing lakes to provide some relief if they are in dire need of water."

"As fields, pastures and stock ponds get drier in this drought, we must do everything in our power to assure livestock,” said Dale Rodman, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture. “This declaration takes an important step to provide an additional water source for livestock and going forward we will continue working with all stakeholders to help producers cope with and recover from this drought."

Spring is in The Air

I don't know where you are from or currently residing but where I am here in Kansas the weather has been unseasonably warm and Spring is just around the corner.

The temperatures have been a little above normal but not unlike the past few years. They talk about the Green House Effect or to define a little more clearly, The greenhouse effect is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases, and is re-radiated in all directions. Since part of this re-radiation is back towards the surface and the lower atmosphere, it results in an elevation of the average surface temperature above what it would be in the absence of the gases. And yes the temperatures they have been above average and of course that means less frozen grounds and grass a little greener for this time of the year.

Not only that, each morning when I walk outside or take my morning bicycle ride I have heard a lot of birds beginning to chirp and make an all too familiar sound of, "Spring is in The Air."

I don't know about you but for us this is a wonderful thing. I mean I personally don't care for a cold ass winter where the wind blows up my bum and causes me to grit my teeth and wear an extra layer of clothing. Brrrrrr I can not wait for it to get a little warmer even and for the grass to not only green up but I'm ready to mow. Yes I said that, "I'm ready to begin mowing the lawn."

How about you? How's the temperatures and the weather been in your neck of the woods? One thing that is for certain is we could use much more precipitation and moisture for the ground and winter wheat etc... If there is a downside to all of this, and I'm not sure how the warmer weather has effected it, but we NEED MORE MOISTURE! Rain dance, do us a rain dance please.

Until then I will just listen to the sounds of the singing birds in the air and hope for rain but most of all warmer weather. I dislike winter more and more each year. How about you?

How I Start My Day

Today was really no different than yesterday, except I felt better physically and health wise. But other than that I started the day off with a few pleases to the God of my understanding and of course will say my thank you at the end of the day when I lay my head down for a night of rest.

I try to always satisfy my soul and emotions as the day progresses or actually as any situation occurs that may be leaving me uncomfortable. "Don't hold any resentments, unresolved anger, hurt, jealousy, or painful emotions prior to falling asleep each night", is my example to live by. No I didn't come up with this on my own it was taught to me by one of my mentors and valuable friends who've I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with in this journey we call life.

You see here again it goes along with my 'Understanding of God' as I've been freely given to choose to live by or not. It's a process not an event. It hasn't just happened overnight and for that I am grateful. I may not have had the ability to understand it so freely nor the will to accept all that power(less) and knowledge at once.

So back to today, because really isn't that all we have is TODAY?

After a few pleases and some thank you, I start my day off usually pretty much the same. Some think it's boring, unexciting and some think it's a little odd to have such a belief system. I say it's a way of life that freely gives me choices/decisions that are healthy and uneventful.

Again, who likes to curl up with your pillow and be resentful at some event that happened throughout the day that you may or may not had the choice to change if you could. It reminds me of a song by Foreigner:

However the point is don't start your day or end your day without reaching out to someone or some thing that will give you love, knowledge, power and is greater than you.

Stop Worrying About What to Wear

Sometimes it is very difficult in making the decision of what to wear. At least for some folks. For me, well I do sometimes just grab the next available thing hanging in the closet and go with it. Others like my significant other takes time, changes a couple of times and then asks the unanswerable question, "honey does this go together", or "does this look alright"?

Well of course it goes together and of course it looks alright. What else am I suppose to say? I know I'm suppose to be honest but I generally have to watch my honesty with some as I have been called brutal honest. That at times leaves a mark.

So I tend to give myself permission to be a little less than honest or a little above what I think in my honesty. Like the old man and his wife who just came up out of the cyclone cellar to find his home and everything in ruins. He says, "hey look ma, nothing the matter here, isn't it grand the wind stopped blowing"?

So I guess you get my point, only the old fart wasn't being dishonest with his wife he was being dishonest with his self. He really seen nothing wrong when in fact they had lost everything. Trust me, if you read back to a few months ago or last summer you will see that I went through a tornado and we lost pretty much everything. At that time it wasn't important to decide what we was going to wear, it was important to just have a little something to wear and for that we were grateful!

The next time you look into your wardrobe or closet, where ever you keep your next outfit, just remember it's more important to have it than what others are going to think about what you have on. Sure we get caught up in what others think way too often.

I say give yourself permission to be happy, comfortable and grateful on a daily basis!

Winter Wonderland

This past week it has been in the 70 degree temperature range for most of the early and late afternoons. Not much wind and plenty of sunshine. Hey the grass was even beginning to green up a little. I had made the comment to a friend of mine that if it kept up we would have to dig the mower out and give it a once over so that it didn't get too high. NOT!

Obviously in the middle of January that is not going to happen but wow it has been such a fabulous Fall and Winter so far this year. Late 2011 was unseasonably warm and so far we have broken some records for the high temperatures.

However today and the rest of the week it is suppose to be colder than a well diggers behind and today it has already proven to take this much colder turn. For example today or last night it was down to around 14 degrees with 20 mile an hour winds so the temperature felt like 0 degrees. It also began to snow and ice some but hasn't amounted to too much thank goodness.

It is very cold out today as compared to this time last week but hey like I stated it is January and it is expected! I am so ready for spring and summer though, if you like the cold you can have this.

How is your neck of the woods? Has it been unseasonably warm so far this year and not much precipitation. That is another thing we have not had very much snow of course with the warmer weather but we have not had very much rain either. We need some rain and or plenty of snow. The ponds and lakes here are looking a little bare around the edges.

The only "oops" was that when the "repeat after me" part came up for myself. Rev. Dave said one of the lines mixed up. I began to repeat, and then looked at him and said, "Wait. What?" Everyone laughed (myself included), and it felt as though the entire room breathed. Guess it provided some comic relief. I cannot wait to see our wedding video. We are all human and sometimes mistakes happen. If anything it made our ceremony all that more unique.

Rev. Dave's wife was also helpful in that she packaged our sand ceremony up nicely so that it didn't get messed up.

A White Christmas

This year we are quickly approaching the day that Ole Saint Nick will float through the air with ease on his sleigh pulled by the likes of Rudolf and company.

I am hoping for a white Christmas again this year. Last year started out with flurries and quickly developed into a few inches of the white stuff we call snow. So we are all thinking the same will happen this year.

In my neck of the woods we are expecting 4 to 8 inches today but it may not last for too long on the ground. It's suppose to warm up the days following the downfall.

What about you? Are you expecting any snow or do you already have plenty on the ground where ever you my be. Will Santa find his way and deliver as expected? Chime in below and let us know what your feelings are on the white stuff.

So I've been thinking about the blessings I have had in being able to once again fire up my computer and write a silly, meaningful, or review post. Previously I had taken things for granted and of course some things I still will as I am human and seem to have tunnel vision on ocassion. How about yourself?
Anyway it's been a long few months of issues. From medical complications, addictions to grief and dying. Oh yeah and don't let me forget the tornado that took many things from us, including my brothers and sisters homes. All of this happened within a short amount of time and at times seemed almost too much to take.
However as stated above, in taking things for granted I plugged along and somehow was able to make it through it and for now am doing better than I have in quite a few years. Other than the medical issues I have an open-mind and have the ability to turn it over to a God of my understanding. (I did go to the doctor yesterday and he seems optimistic, so that's another blessing)
For now my wish for you is that you have a blessed Holiday Season and your able to spend your time with those you love and surround yourself with Peace and Joy!

I'm Back and Better Than Ever!

Just a quick note to let everyone who has been faithful in noticing or looking at my blog that I am back in business after some time off due to some major medical problems and so forth. (and the ones who have always been there for me you know I thank you and I appreciate your patience with all that's happened to me since you've last heard from me.)

I hope to be able to stick around for quite a while again but if you don't hear from me or see a lapse in my posts it is because of continuing medical issues. For now, all is well!

I have certainly missed blogging and am excited to be back online with the opportunity to once again update this blog and continue with reviews etc. It is an outlet for me and I look forward each day I am able to get on here and say something even if it doesn't make sense to you. :)

I started blogging way before it became fashionable, back at the turn of the century. I’ve long been a proponent of keeping an online journal, and I was just starting fashion school at the time so I needed somewhere to release all my pent up stress. Since then, I’ve been blogging daily about everything from the latest Kenneth Cole shoes to the new trends in leather fringe, and my blog has even earned local newspaper coverage!

I was really sick of having to go to a coffee shop or university to access a wireless connection so I could download pictures or write a post, so I looked up some great Clear Internet Deals and got connected to mobile broadband internet. Now I can post on the go, which really works for my busy schedule. I’m currently doing an internship at one of the biggest fashion houses in New York and while I can’t name the designer, I can say that my blog has been a great source of relief for me when I get off work! To anyone who’s thinking of doing it, I say go for it!

Been Quite Some time Since I Have Posted

Yes it's been awhile since I have posted. I have been through so much since the beginning of the year. I'm certain I am not the only one but sometimes it just feels like that.

Hope all is doing well and having a great summer, as for me, well the next few weeks will tell. I may be taking a trip, I may just be tripping but you can bet those syllables will be involved. Working my butt off to get my life back together and my kids adjusted.

Do you know how hard it is to find an apartment for a single mom? Really do you know? The hoops I've had to jump through have been trememdous but here again, I say my praises instead of curses. I am thankful. I have a lot of people who care about me and are trying to help me that what more could a woman ask for? You tell me! If there is an easier way then lead my down the path, I have my tennis shoes on and I am willing to walk your way if it's brighter and refreshing. Not that my way hasn't been a learning tool but, hey it's time for me to have some peace of mind with my boys and start letting ya'll know that things are looking up.

GBY keep me in your prayers and just know that each step we take is another closer to where we are going.

Back to School and My How Time Flys!

Sorry haven't posted much as of late. It's been really hectic with the boys starting back to school and getting everything lined out with this. Parenthood comes with no guide for perfection. Its like jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down.

Kids are adaptable. Much more so than adults are. Give my oldest son a month and he will probably have all the girls right where he wants them to be, and he will be ok with how things are. The other day he tells me "Mom I have 3 girlfriends already", talk about throwing Mom for a loop. Already I said son?

So I had to mentally scroll ahead thru the years, and Wow was I hurrying to get back to the past as in today. I am not ready for him to take on the girls yet and maybe not ever but I know it is going to happen sooner than later as time flies so fast. I have a hard time believing he's already in the third grade. It seems like yesterday he was his brothers age and getting on the bus for the first time.

As for my youngest, well lets just say he's still at the stage of ugh 'girls' ugh! On a side note we have adopted a cat. It seems one was wondering around the area the past few days or so and well to make a long story short we finally gave in and brought her in the house. We named her snatch of all names. And she is adorable and the boys can't wait to get home each day from school and wear her out and vice versa.

I must say it does get a little lonely around the house during the day sometimes but it is also a nice relief to have time for myself. Recently we have been looking for Halloween costumes online. The older son wants to be a banana of all things and the youngster wants to be a cowboy. Go figure! Oh well I love my boys and wouldn't trade anything in the world for what they mean to me.

It's that time again for most of us. Back to School. I remember as a kid the first day of school no matter what grade I was in I always anticipated the first day back. Nervous but excited just the same!

I couldn't wait to get up and put on my new clothes. Clothes I had been trying on for a week or so now just to make sure they fit. They were cool and hey best of all they were new! I was excited at doing this. I can still remember opening the dresser drawer on occasion to pull them out and hold them up and thinking about how I would look on that first day. Little Sturgis Rally ~ Welcome to My Neck of the Woods

Sorry peeps but there's been a little speed bump in the road here at MommyChrissy. Then if your a Mom and reading this you already know. Especially with two boys, summertime and sunshine, need I say more.

Anyway we went to Lancen's ball tournament and he lost! The little tyke was so excited though and can't wait till next year. Not to mention me too. He was upset, but he got a trophy out of it, so he was happy! :)

This is My Neck of the Woods

Now my neck of the woods is really busy you might say right now. We have the rally. It's actually called the Little Sturgis Rally. And yes it's a bike rally, lot's and lot's of motorcycles. Here's what my weeks been like.

I live right on the highway, so i can see and hear everything. Personally doesn't bother me, but it does bother alot of ppl who live here though. I've sit on the breezeway every night and watched the bikes that come by. They are all headed to or coming from the airport/fairgrounds where the rally is actually held.

Us locals say, "why pay $40 to get in when I can watch it for free?" I walked Peyton to town a few nights ago, and he loved looking at the bikes. He didn't pay attention to the girls with barely nothing on though so I was like, thank God.

Much to do about Nothing

Not much we can do about this it's all over town. It's crazy having it for a full week this year, but it really hasn't seemed like it! Although it's nearly impossible to get anywhere in town..( it takes 20 mins just to get from the floodwall to pizza hut not very far folks, less than a mile!) and the roadblocks.. At least 6-7 set up from Shawneetown, Ill. to Sturgis and into Morganfield, Ky. I love how random ppl would come up to me and ask me where they could get alcohol, being there are only a few places to get it, lol. For the most part, everyone I've come in contact with have been really nice.. and so far no stories of anyone getting hurt or killed. Believe it or not, since last year, alot of ppl have opted to go to the street rally in Shawneetown which has it's own rally, yet smaller but fun all the same.

Theirs only cost $10, they have 3 different bars, and a liquor store that seems to stay open very late! Some ppl around here hate it because it sucks a little life, not much but a little life outta Little Sturgis Rally. But the only thing I can say is that you need to get what you need and stock up before the rally starts. This way you can stay in, or plan a vacation, and not bitch about it!!

I'm sure that with tonight being the last night it will get pretty crazy around here. But I'm prepared. I've got my chairs to sit on, my neighbors to bullshit with, and when the boys go to sleep some beer to drink!!

No complaining here, bring on the beads...J/k.

So what's the big to do in your town each year? This is definitely the one and only we have, once it's done, it's done. Back to the grind. Wouldn't have it any other way...unless, unless he was here.

My About Page

Today I created my about page. I am posting it below so it's easy for the newest members to see. Of course it will always be in the tab above under what else, About. Any questions feel free to ask. I will be adding to it and taking away from it as this journey processes. One thing is for sure their will always be cookies and milk involved.

I am a proud mother of two wonderful boys, Lancen and Peyton. They are my world and my greatest accomplishment! My friends mean the world to me...I might only have a few that I keep close, but it's all for a reason.

I also enjoy meeting new people and taking the opportunity to make new friends. This being one of the reasons I started this blog. At the time of this writing I am new to this but getting the hang of it. I'm not afraid to speak my mind but will do my best to not to ever personally offend or hurt you. I'm a very laid back person and easy to get along with.

As mentioned above my boys mean the world to me. This blog is about us and our adventures as a family. When I am not separating the boys from each other or typing away on my computer you will find us eating oreos and drinking milk. We appreciate the simple things.

Life is quite exciting if not unpredictable at times. I wouldn't have it any other way right now. I hope you find this blog enjoyable and make your way back on occasion to see what those times were like. Motherhood is a process not an event. I invite you to laugh with me and cry with me as I take you through our journey.

So the Fourth has come and gone. Just like today will come and go, and be nothing more than a memory. I love making memories by the way and we sure did over the weekend, and it was a Holiday if your in the USA.

Oh it wasn't perfect, the weather was fair and cooperated for a change. It usually does here in Hillbilly land by the way, especially this time of the year. I don't envy you peeps in the windy and rainy neighborhoods though we have our fair share of both.

At least this year was fun.

Went to a local place called Dam 50

I had an awesome time with the kids. We went there with the intention of celebrating Lancen's birthday with immediate family. He turned 8 by the way. We had a camper, they rode their bikes all day, we grilled good food, had a water balloon fight, had cake, ice cream, and opened presents.. gave all the kids glow sticks so we could see them.. then watched all the fireworks over the river. that was pretty much it, fun and exciting but exhausting.

That's being a Mother though huh? Wouldn't have it any other way.

Hello, My name is Chrissy

First and foremost I am a Mother, a mother who cares deeply about her children. I have been blessed to say this. I have two young sons as of this writing but someday I may want more. A little Princess perhaps, or a Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella all wrapped into one.

I start this blog with a purpose, a purpose of providing you with a heartfelt journey of raising two young, feisty boys who are my life. My everything.

Unconditionally they love me

They know no boundaries of what it means to love unconditionally. They just do. At an age of development when little things they are experiencing are becoming more than an experience, they need guidance and structure. They need to be allowed to have fun, enjoy these precious days and I intend on giving it to them, so that one day, one day when they look back they will say, "I had so much fun at that age sometimes I wish I could go back." Mom was awesome, is awesome!

Just like today when I think of my Mom, I think to myself, I love you Mom your awesome. You are and was the best. I want them to say that if they had to do it all over again and had to choose their Mom, they'd choose me. I know I'd definitely choose my Mom. I wouldn't change a thing.

Well I might change a few things but it wouldn't be anything that had to do with Mom. I might like to have pizza a little more often or spaghetti o's more frequently, just because, just because when I was a kid that's those dinners and suppers that were the best. Oh and those peanut butter sandwiches, put a little more jelly on there Mom. Evidently she thought I was sweet enough and so do my boys today. Can a gurl get some more kool-aid please.

I did say please too

I teach my boys to say please and thank you. It really goes without saying. I love it when a friend pops in with a surprise or we visit the bank and the teller gives them a lollipop. Their eyes light up and automatically they know to say thank you. Not because I taught them this early on but because they truly appreciate the gesture of receiving.

And that brings me to this blog

I want to have a place to share with you the importance of what a mommy is to me. What it means being a Mom. The pleasures, the pain, the joy, the insane. The growth spurts, the setbacks, the happiness and hurts.
