Well hello there folks. Long time no post. Again. At least, long time no post here. I've been quite active elsewhere as you can see on my writing blog. Anyhoos I have actually recently created a bunch of designs for personal reasons (greetings cards etc) that I hadn't posted here yet, but I thought it was time to correct that. And so behold... a bunch of random pictures (part 1)

Today's picture is such an 'inside joke' I was pondering whether to post it here at all. In the end I decided, why the hell not. And as such to appreciate the piccie you need to know the following crucial pieces of information:

It was my friend's birthday
My friend loooooves Murder She Wrote. Big time.
The main character in MSW is called Jessica Fletcher. How do I know this? See point 2.

So it's actually Murder solving Pals, not "Pals who love to murder". Just to make that important distinction. I'm not saying my friend likes to murder people, with Jessica Fletcher's help. That would be quite a strange thing to put on someones' birthday card don't you think?

It's that time again peeps, and as always I have been busy designing my own yuletide cards. This means a veritable santa's sack of new pics for you right now. Hey! No way! Can it be... yes it's a new MPZ post after what seems like forever. The site has been pretty much on hiatus for most of 2012 due to my real life shenanigans, not least transitioning to my new career as a freelance writer. However I am back.... a bit. I'm going to be posting new stuff in the run up to Christmas, mostly it will be artwork and stuff rather than animations or bigger projects but you never know. What will definitely be coming is a whole new collection of movie monkeys, starting right now. Say hello to the Hunger Games monkey. Fact: this is the first lady movie monkey. But she will not be alone, more movie monkeys coming very soon. May the odds be ever in your favour, or whatever.

If you've been following what I've been up to lately, you'll know that my writing and reviewing work has been taking off. I am now a bona fide freelance writer- I get paid and everything. I have decided that this side of my work should be separated from this page, so I am launching a new blog to keep tabs on my writing. If you want to read my reviews and articles, then this is a good way to keep tabs on it.

Over the first half of the year I have been making progress in my efforts to become a writer type person. Seeing as I only have so much time, this has meant unfortunately my animation and cartooning work has suffered. As a result, MPZ has pretty much been on unofficial hiatus for most of 2012. Well, the good news is that I am now doing actually freelance work, and if this becomes my main employment then I am hopeful I will have more time to devote to my MPZ endeavours. Not to mention that I'd actually be paid to be doing something I actually enjoy for a change. So this pro work then? I am now contributing to new magazine MyM, which is now available on UK newsstands (plus other places such as Ireland, Australia and New Zealand I believe). Check it out! Issue 1 features my article on the Bleach anime movies. Issue 2 is out 7th June.

Well while I'm here, would you like to see a little cartoon I did? No? Too bad cos here it is. Hopefully it won't be too long until I post again!

I have started writing a column named Animation Avenue for a brand new movie, music an pop culture website Screen Highway. My first review is for the ace Oscar nominated (but not winning) Chico and Rita. With my animations and stuff I post here, as well as my reviews for Screen Highway and for Anime UK News, my work these days is being spread all over the interweb. Therefore to keep track of all my stuff, I have finally got with the programme and joined up on Twitter (@misterchristor). So feel free to follow me. And so I return! My computer-related woes turned out to be more complicated (and more wallet-bashingly expensive) than anticipated, which is why I've been gone so long. But crucially my files survived intact so I was able to finish the animation I was working on when my computer went boom. It is the first in a new series. I already have Trailerama for movie based hijinx, but now I am starting a Video Game humour based series, and I'm calling it Arcade Perfect. The first episode deals with the classic video game Metal Gear Solid, and features some fantastic voice acting from returning stars, Lee Tsuruneru and Annabelle Bay

OK folks, so about now I should be publishing a new animation (the first in a new series no less!), however it's going to be delayed, by the apparent death of my faithful computer. (A moments silence please... blub!) My latest work was hours from completion when the machine stopped working. Fortunately I recently did a back up so I haven't lost the whole thing, but it remains to be seen how much work has actually been lost. I hope to get back up and running ASAP, but there will be a delay in the meantime. Please stand by...

This animation features marvelous music by an awesome and lovely young lady who goes by the name of Blue (UK readers note: she is nothing to do with the crappy British Boyband of the same name). She writes thoroughly ace music about awesomely geeky things on her equally top notch website Hello, The Future. You should check it out. While your at it you can check out the album Mink Car Cover, a project featuring 19 talented artists (including Blue, who also put together the project) that is being sold to mark the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and raise monkey for the NYFD (new York Fire Dept.) A worthy cause indeed!

It wasn't preplanned but sometimes that's just the way things work out. but I wanted to check in to tell you that not only am I alive, things are happening, and an animation is in the pipeline.
