Christmas glitter ornament

Well, well, Christmas is coming soon! Are you ready? Me not, but anyway I think that I always have the same feeling... maybe we tend to do too much things in a short period of time....
Last year I wanted to show you how I did a glitter ornament for my Christmas tree, but I didn't.
So, this year I've better organized myself, and here you have this DIY.

Bueno, bueno, la Navidad ya se acerca, estáis preparadas? La verdad yo no, pero es igual, creo que siempre tengo el mismo sentimiento en estas fechas... tal vez es que queremos hacer mucho en muy poco tiempo...
El año pasado quise enseñaros como hice un adorno para el árbol de Navidad, pero no pude. Este año me he organizado un poco mejor, y aqui os traigo un nuevo tutorial, y el último del año.

The more important item to have is this kind of thick paper adhesive for one side. I have find it in Geneva, but I have no idea the name of it. Just search in your nearest stationary shop!

Lo más importante para hacer este adorno es encontrar un tipo de papel específico, un poco gordito, y autoadhesivo por un lado. Yo lo he encontrado aqui en Ginebra, pero no sé ni como se llama... Buscar en vuestra papelería favorita!

These are the materials you will need/ Materiales que necesitaréis:

First, take your favorite cup and draw around it with a pencil/ Tomar vuestra taza favorita y trazar con un lapiz alredor de ella en el papel

Cut/ Cortar

Begin with the form you will like to see, last year I made a heart, this year I'm choosing a chevron style. So, just draw with a pencil helped by a ruler.

Dibujar la forma que os gustaría ver, este año me decidí por el estilo chevron. Me ayudé de una regla y de un lápiz.

Make a hole in the top of the circle / Con la ayuda de un troquel, hacer un agujero en la parte de arriba ( permitirá después pasar una cinta para que se pueda colgar)

Cut with the cutter, and remove the paper/ Cortar con un cutter lo que se ha dibujado, y retirar el papel

Apply the glitter ( golden one), and stick it with the help of your fingers

Añadir la purpurina ( en este caso dorada) , con una cuchara y con la punta de los dedos ir fijandola

First impression is always gorgeous! La primera impresión es siempre bonita!

Do it with the other glitter ( red one), remove the paper before

Retirar el papel que queda y aplicar la otra purpurina ( en este caso roja)

Ta da!! Ta-chán!!

Lavender clothespin

So here I am again with another easy DIY. Have you ever had moth in your wardrobe? I did find it two weeks ago when I was changing summer for winter clothes. I must say I was not really happy and a little disappointed because of the stuff I bought to prevent, it didn't work at all!
Hola chicas, aqui estoy otra vez con un nuevo tutorial! Habéis tenido alguna vez polilla en el armario? Yo nunca hasta hace dos semanas, cuando me encontraba en pleno cambio de ropa de verano a invierno y lo descubrí. La verdad es que no me puse nada contenta, y menos cuando vi que lo que había comprado para evitarla, no había funcionado!

And this time I wanted an direct and functional solution, that's why I made some lavender clothespin to avoid moth again. Because lavender is not moth friendly, or I hope so!
Por lo que esta vez me decidí a hacer algo para atacar, o prevenir otra vez la polilla. Con unas pinzas de madera, un poco de esencia de lavanda y una cinta bonita, y listo para el armario!

Easy, easy and so affordable! You will need:
Muy, muy fácil y económico! Necesitaréis:

Put the wood clothespins into the dish and drop the lavender essential oil to the entirely clothespin.
Poner las pinzas en el plato e impregnarlas de aceite de lavanda.

Let them dry a little bit.
Cut a lovely trim, make a bow and tie it to the clothespin.
Hang the clothespin in your wardrobe rail or just place it next to your cashmere or wood sweater.

Dejar que sequen un poco, cortar una cinta que os guste, hacer un lazo y unirlo a la pinza.
Colgar la pinza en el armario, o ponerlo directamente al lado de los jerseys de lana o cashmere, pero evitando que entre en contacto directo ya que podría dañarlos.

Our guest bathroom- chapter 3

I think this is the best part, don't you think? Please, do not expect big changes, unfortunately I was not able to do that!
My point of beginning was the blue/green color of the upper tiles. At first sight, I found them horrible, but then I move forward and I began to find some items that would match with that color.

Esta es la mejor parte, no? Gracias por vuestra espera! Pero por favor, no esperéis grandes cambios, desafortunadamente no podemos hacer lo que realmente nos gustaría y nos hemos tenido que contentar con detalles.
Mi punto de partida fué el color azul/verde/turquesa de las baldosas superiores. La primera vez que las ví me parecieron horrorosas, pero después me hice la idea que no podía modificarlo, y busqué algún detalle que pudiera combinar.

And I found this lovely green turquoise pottery flower vase

Y encontré este precioso vaso florero de color verde turquesa

And a hand wash from Baylis and Harding

Y un jabón líquido de Baylis and Harding con los mismos tonos

With a good piece of fabric I made a sink skirt

Con una tela bonita que compré, hice un faldón, le cosí un velcro adhesivo y lo pegué directamente en el lavabo

I put some birds frames to match with everything, on the radiator ( need to better center the right frame...) which you saw them before in my last craft room, here

Encima del radiador puse unos cuadros con pájaros que ya habéis visto en una ocasión en mi antigua habitación aqui

On top of the toilet I hung a flower painting

Encima del wáter colgué un cuadro con motivo floral

I sew a white linen curtain and hung it with a twist and fit rod into the window

Cosí un trozo de tela de lino blanco y la colgué con una barra de presión en la ventana

The dark lines have disappeared, some items match with the upper tiles color, an easy sink skirt with a lovely fabric is sewed, and some frames are hung.

Las líneas oscuras de las baldosas han desaparecido, algunos detalles combinan con el color turquesa de las baldosas superiores, una tela bonita cubre la parte de abajo del lavabo y unifica los colores, y algunos cuadros están colgados.

The changes are so limited, no way to do big work here, but you will judge for yourself when you see what I did. This is our guest bathroom:

Los cambios son mínimos ya que no podemos hacer grande obra en la casa para poder modificar realmente lo que quisieramos..... Aqui tenéis nuestro cuarto de baño de invitados:

The first thing we did was to change the toilet seat cover, turned from black to white ( sorry for the open seat in black version,....)
Lo primero que hicimos fué cambiar la tapa del wáter, pasó de color negro a blanco ( siento que esté abierta en la versión tapa negra....)

Then I wanted to clean that dark lines between tiles. They made the bathroom uglier!
Lo siguiente, aparte de limpiarlo meticulosamente, fué hacer desaparecer esas lineas oscuras que afean tanto la pared y las baldosas!

And then I begun with the decoration. But this will be in the next chapter! See you tomorrow!!
Y con todo limpio, empecé con la decoración, pero bueno, eso será mañana!!!

Our guest bathroom- chapter 1

As many of you know, we moved into a new apartment last april, and we are so happy of it. I showed you our remake kitchen, here, here and here. And since we are renting it, our decorating ambition is limited.
So, my next challenge was our guest bathroom, which is in in front of the kitchen, in the left hand of our entry door.
And this is what we found when we visited it: ( sorry for the blurred phone images...)

Las que me seguís sabréis que nos cambiamos de piso el pasado mes de abril, y que estamos muy contentos. Os enseñé el cambio que hicimos en la cocina, aqui, aqui y aqui. Y teniendo en cuenta que estamos de alquiler, nuestra ambición a la hora de decorar es más bien limitada.
Mi siguiente proyecto fué el cuarto de baño de invitados, que está precisamente delante de la cocina, en la parte izquierda de nuestra entrada.
Estas son las fotos que os enseñan lo que encontramos cuando vinimos por primera vez ( siento las fotos borrosas hechas con el teléfono móvil):

T-shirt marinière

Today I'm showing you a customized t-shirt I made for my daughter.
We love marinière t-shirts, and the idea to add a touch of red in it was so tempting.
Hoy os enseño una camiseta "customizada" para mi hija mayor.
Nos encantan las camisetas marineras, y la idea de añadir algo rojo en ella se me hizo muy tentador...

This is the one we had/Esta es la que teníamos

Just draw with pencil a heart or whatever form you like
Dibuja con lapiz la forma que quieras, yo hice un corazón ;)

and let's begin to sew, first a sequin and then a little bead
y empieza a coser, primero una lentejuela y después una cuenta

My daughter love it , and me too! Next DIY one for me :)

So, as you can see I'm much occupied with my private life... Again, the children are in vacation, and I spend more time with them.
Since they are growing and the time at the park is not enough and not funny anymore, I must find other ways to keep them occupied. And gardening has been one of the themes chosen.
We had our visit to the Garden store and bought some plants and pots.
Here is what we did:

Como habéis podido comprobar estoy muy ocupada con mi vida privada.... Y otra vez los niños tienen vacaciones, por lo que paso más tiempo con ellos.
Teniendo en cuenta que han crecido un poco, el parque empieza a ser menos divertido y no les apetece tanto. Por lo que tenemos que buscar otros planes/ soluciones y hemos decidido apostar por la jardinería.
Estuvimos en un garden y esto es lo que hicimos después, veremos lo que aguanta en casa....

So simple, but so lovely, don't you think so?

I'd love to show you more DIY projects, but the thing is I am running the whole time and it seems everything is in standby.
I like to see you follow me and you like quotes as the last one. Seems everyone needs to realize that sometimes life doesn't go where we want, and maybe this is not bad at all. There's always a solution, always! So keep going if you are in a bad, or sad situation, don't give up!!
And here is the video of the week, and that's why I like Youtube, always nice and talented people to discover! Just close your eyes!

Parece que el tiempo pasa volando, y siento que voy corriendo a todas partes, por lo que los proyectos DIY que tengo pendientes tendrán que esperar....
Me gusta ver que me seguís y que frases como las que os he enseñado os gustan. A veces es bueno darse cuenta que no todo puede salir como nosotros quisieramos, y pensar que siempre hay una solución, por más malo que sea el momento en el que nos encontramos.
Por lo que os ánimo a seguir si os encontráis en un momento delicado, triste o realmente malo, no abandonéis, siempre hay solución!
Y aqui un nuevo descubrimiento, supongo que por eso me gusta tanto Youtube, siempre puedes encontrar gente con mucho talento! Que lo disfrutéis! Os recomiendo que cerréis los ojos mientras escucháis la canción!

I hope you have guessed that I was in NYC this summer. It was a couple trip, without children, and we celebrated our 12 years wedding anniversary! We had the time of our live! We enjoyed long conversations ( without interruptions), long walks ( with holes in our shoes included) and plenty of things that reminds me that NYC is my dream city.
I have the chance to have a wonderful husband that let me go in and out of a big amount of listed shops. Thanks God!
NYC is too big to visit, that's why I wanted to do lots of things that have remained unchecked in my visit list.
The container Store, Pottery Barn, K-mart, The home depot, William Sonoma, Staples,.... they're not the most known shops to visit, I know. But home and supplies shops we're my priorities.

Supongo que os habréis dado cuenta que tuve la suerte de estar en NYC.Fué un viaje de novios, sin niños, y celebramos los 12 años de casados. Nos lo pasamos de maravilla! Conversamos sin interrupciones, caminamos muchíiiiiisimo ( incluso me salieron agujeros en los zapatos) y hicimos muchas cosas, lo que me hace recordar que Nueva York es mi ciudad soñada.
Tengo la suerte de tener un maravilloso marido que me permitía entrar y salir sin parar de todas las tiendas que quería.
NYC es muy grande, y hay tantas cosas por hacer, visitar, ver... que es imposible hacerlo en los días que estuvimos.

Hi everyone! I'm not still in vacation, but the thing is that I haven't stop since I have come back to normality. We have had a wonderful summer, how has been yours?

I am so sorry to keep you waiting. As most of the mothers we have our children at home, no school, no homework, no activities BUT more occupied than ever!
We like to go outside more often, so, less time to blog, to visit my fab blogs and to do my DIY projects. Soon we will be on vacation, and I love to spend this time with my family, making things together, etc
But, before I'm leaving for a while I show you some pictures of our latest summer in the new terrace. Enjoy them, and if I don't come around, means that I'm enjoying my vacation time!

Siento haberos hecho esperar. Como la mayoría de madres, tenemos a los niños en casa, no hay colegio, tampoco deberes ni actividades, pero estamos más ocupadas que nunca!
A nosotros nos gusta salir más a menudo, por lo que eso significa que tengo menos tiempo para postear, visitar mis blogs favoritos, realizar mis proyectos DIY.... ya me entendéis!
Pronto nos iremos de vacaciones, y me gusta poder pasar este tiempo con mi familia, haciendo cosas que no tenemos tiempo de hacer durante el año, paseando, comiendo, y aprendiendo.

Yes, another party is coming and this time in my new terrace! I'm celebrating the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer!

My new kitchen 3

This is my last post of my new kitchen.. thanks for waiting!
I know I don't have the kitchen of my dreams, and some things I am not able to change, like the floor, the doors, the terrible black doorframes... but as I have show you, little changes turned my kitchen a little more me. Let's begin,

Sé que no tengo la cocina de mis sueños, y que hay cosas que no puedo cambiarlas, como es el suelo, las puertas y esos horribles marcos negros que me han dado muchos dolores de cabeza.... pero lo que os enseño a continuación demuestra que con pequeños cambios la cocina ha cambiado y se ha adaptado un poco más a lo que me gusta. Empezamos,

We have added a high cabinet, with enough place to put our coffee machine, microwave and toaster. Next to it you can see another fridge, yep, 2 fridges are enough!

Hemos añadido un armario alto con espacio sufiente para albergar nuestra máquina de café, el microodnas y la tostadora. Justo al lado podéis ver otra nevera, y ya van dos, más que suficiente!

On the left hand of the new cabinet we have placed a long table with 3 chairs, but maybe this is going to change in the future, since no one is eating here! We love to share the meals in our long table in the dining room!

En la izquierda del nuevo armario hemos puesto una mesa larga con 3 sillas, pero seguramente lo cambiaremos pq nadie come aqui! Nos gusta estar en familia y comer todos juntos en la mesa del comedor!

So, when you have a terrible kitchen as I had and don't want to spend a fortune changing it, you have to work with small details. And that's what I did.
Let's begin,

Cuando tienes una cocina tan poco atractiva con la que me encontré yo, y encima no quieres dejarte una fortuna en cambiarla, debes invertir en los pequeños detalles. Y eso es lo que hice.
Empezamos,

Hangers were old plastic black and turned into metal mate grey
Los tiradores eran de plástico negro muy anticuados y los cambié por unos de color gris metal en mate

Wall color was white and I turned into grey
El color de la pared era blanca y la pinté en gris medio

But I also painted the baseboard and the cornice

No sé si os fijáis pero también pinté la cornisa y el zócalo.

In front of the door we put our new frigo

Delante de la puerta pusimos nuestro nuevo frigorífico

(big family= big frigo) ( familia grande= frigo grande)

And as the colors chosen were grey and light wood, I bought some new things like the curtains,

the wall light

and the chopping board

Can you see how little by little the kitchen changes? Will you return tomorrow to see the whole kitchen? I hope so, I promise not to play more with you :)

Hi again! I'm not done with my new apartment, I have still lot of work to do. I think you can imagine it! The main things are in its place, but the walls are without frames, some rooms without curtains and others without lights.
Maybe it's because I'm so perfectionist and I want to be sure when I choose something, or maybe because the lack of time I'm suffering these days.
Anyway one thing after the other.
The kitchen is almost done, and I am ready to show you some photos.
We are renting our apartment, so the kitchen is part of the apartment and if you don't like it you have 3 options, assume it, change it or adapted it!
I opted for the 3d option, and no regrets at all

Hola de nuevo! Todavía no he terminado con mi nuevo apartamento, hay mucho trabajo por hacer. Me imagino que os hacéis una idea, no? Lo principal está en su lugar, pero las paredes siguen vacías, algunas habitaciones sin cortinas, y algunas otras sin lámparas.
Tal vez es pq soy un poco perfeccionista y me gusta tener muy claro lo que quiero antes de colocarlo, o tal vez es por la falta de tiempo que estoy teniendo ultimamente....
De todas maneras, una cosa tras la otra!
La cocina está casi terminada, y ya estoy preparada para enseñaros algunas fotos.
Como no es de propiedad, cuando alquilas algo la cocina viene en el precio, y si no te gusta, puedes hacer varias cosas, asumirlo, cambiarlo (coste alto) o adaptarlo!
Yo he optado por la tercera, y no tengo remordimientos!

Hi girls, I'm back and I have survived! It's been a long journey, a mix of feelings, mounts of work, full of things to do, but I've survived!
We are settled and happy!
Lots of things to be done, but the main ones are in their place and everyone has his own bed and table, and of course a place to eat!
I don't have lots of photos, but some of them, are fine enough to show you a little bit of my new home!

Hola chicas, ya estoy de nuevo aqui y os puedo decir que he sobrevivido a una mudanza! Ha sido largo, intenso, muchas emociones juntas, muchísimo trabajo, muchísimas cosas por hacer, pero he sobrevivido!
Ya nos hemos situado y estamos felices!
Todavía tenemos muchas cosas por hacer, pero las principales están hechas, todo el mundo tiene una cama y una mesa, y por supuesto, sitio para comer!
No tengo muchas fotos, pero las que tengo os pueden mostrar un poco sobre mi nueva casa!

That's the time we have to move to another apartment! It's been fast, unexpected and complicated. But finally, we have find a place to move on.
So, that means that I'll be really busy here, recycling, throwing, arranging, packing and unpacking.... but I'm happy to do it, since I like where we are going, but sad to leave our apartment where we have been for near 10 years.
And this change means to me another opportunity to decorate, to display and to enjoy doing this, because and after all, even if it's going to be exhausting, I love t!
I have lots of ideas, sometimes I feel tired to be thinking allday about it, and I need to write everything I have in mind, or even draw it. My to-do lists are never-ending!

Un mes es lo que nos queda para mudarnos de casa! Ha sido muy rápido, inesperado y complicado, Pero al final ha salido todo bien, y ya tenemos un nuevo lugar al que ir.
Este cambio implica mucho trabajo, tengo que tirar, ordenar, empaquetar, desempaquetar, decorar.... pero estoy feliz de hacerlo, y aunque me dá pena irme de donde estamos, no olvidaré nunca este lugar donde estuvimos casi 10 años.
Y el cambio en si conlleva una nueva oportunidad para decorar, colocar las cosas de otra manera, pintar... y me encanta tan solo pensarlo! Tengo muchas ideas, y si os soy sincera, al cabo del día estoy agotada de tanto pensar, ya que debo apuntar muchas cosas y mis listas empiezan a ser interminables!

Remember when I talked about magazines here? I thought that I had enough seeing magazines in internet, when I red this in an American magazine:
Os acordáis cuando os hablé de revistas de decoración aqui? Entonces pensé que ya me era suficiente mirar las revistas de decoración en internet y no en papel. Pero cambié de opinión cuando en una revista Americana leí lo siguiente: (para las que no entienden inglés, resumo diciendo que aunque el mundo de internet nos haya invadido, no substituirá nunca el medio escrito como son las revistas)

It made me think about a while, when I realized how I enjoy to leaf through a new magazine, a decorating or a fashion one, I simply love it!

Este anuncio me hizo pensar un buen rato, y fué entonces cuando me dí cuenta de lo mucho que disfruto hojeando una revista nueva, ya sea de decoración o de moda, simplemente no se puede substituir!

So, taking in account that my husband is traveling a lot, I take advantage of it and I ask him to bring me some new magazines!

And these are the latest ones I have in my bedside table waiting to be seen:

Craft room shelf

Since I'm forcing my life into spring, I needed to redecorate my craft room shelves. Also, my inspiring board was too dark for my wished lightly days.
So, with patience, and trying to reuse what I had at home, this was the result:

I am not sure if I ever told you that when I was a little girl, I spent lots of summers in Sweden. We had family there for a while, and we loved to go and visit them.
Before Ikea was a big known name, my family and I enjoyed to visit their store in Malmö. And little by little, our house was plenty of Swedish things, not only Ikea ones, but Kosta Boda, Höganäs, and the cute Swedish dala horse.
Last week I was in Barcelona with my kids, and I was taking some photos with my cellphone, that show you this Swedish side of me.

No sé si alguna vez os he contado que cuando era más pequeña, pasé varios veranos en Suecia. Tuvimos familia allí bastante tiempo, por lo que nos encantaba ir y visitarles.
Antes de que Ikea fuera mundialmente conocido, nos encantaba ir y disfrutar. Por lo que nuestra casa fué llenandose de cosas suecas, no solo de Ikea, sino también de Kosta Boda, Höganäs, y los famosos caballos Suecos.
La semana pasada estuve con los niños en Barcelona, y tuve la ocasión de fotografiar ( con mi teléfono móvil) algunas de las cosas que allí tengo.
