The Fast and The Furious 5

2011-08-24T20:02:00.000-07:00

As in the previous sequel, the movie Fast 5 will also feature a return by the action, starring Vin Diesel. Of course this will miss the fans treat the sense of the film with scenes of this exciting and thrilling. Vin Diesel as the figure has become a spirit which must always exist in this film. Thus, in some previous sequels have seemed the tasteless when he non-active in it. In fact, according to some observers, it is very disappointing as a whole does not include Diesel in this movie. Like when on 2 Fast 2 Furious, then on The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, which negates all the old players and use the new players. But all that disappointment will end when the release of the film with the theme of cars and action scenes is the fifth.

Fast Five tells the story of Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) and his girlfriend who is also brother Dom, Mia (Jordana Brewster) is located in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, to meet with their old friend, Vince (Matt Schulze). There also they finally met again with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) who recently escaped and fugitive status. The three of them finally agreed to the new tasks provided by Vince, namely helping the mafia no.1 in Brazil, Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida). But there is something odd in the mission, until finally Dom decided to do the mission 'suicide' which if successful could change all their lives. To realize this mission can not be just the three of them, they gathered old friends for help and later the results obtained will be shared equally. Of course the amount they were after a very very big, but it's also coupled with enormous consequences as well. Moreover, Dom and his friends are looking for the FBI, who sent their best man, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).

Fast Five is present as a pure entertainment movie, do not have to think while watching, just enjoy the flow of action scenes there. A lot of the dialogue that makes the audience laugh, it also increased the value of a plus. There may be some people, especially men of automotive enthusiasts were disappointed that the Fast Five times this does not present a super cool cars as before. But for people who are not too mempermasalah, the Fast Five is really a satisfying spectacle especially when watched in widescreen.

Red Cliff 2

2011-07-15T05:14:00.000-07:00

Red Cliff one mandarin movies coming into the list of must watch. With the increase in Red Cliff, John Woo, the director also deserves predicate Asia's most talented filmmakers at this time. With a budget of $ 80 million he had with a very slick film presents the history of the greatest war in the land of China. A little flashback to the Red Cliff 1, the first film tells the great ambition of Prime Minister Cao Cao, who wanted to unite all of mainland China under the Han dynasty.

Then he began to attack the kingdom "Xu in the west and Wu in the south. In the movie Red Cliff First Cao Cao managed to demolish all-out, Liu Bei was forced to flee to the north. On the diplomacy of the war strategist Zhu ge Liang, Wu kingdom led by Sun Quan had allied with General Zhou Yu to fight against Cao Cao. The film ends with the defeat of Cao Cao face war strategy formation tortoise Zhu ge Liang and 2 thousand ships to the Red Cliff Wu kingdom in striking out. In Red Cliff 2 describes peak of armed conflicts in the red coral which is the beginning of the collapse of the Han Dynasty that changed the history of China.

The strength of Prime Minister Cao Cao, amounting to 10 times greater in a landslide eventually destroyed by a cup of tea! Hohoho .. In the first film presentation of his character seemed more fitting and fair . But at the Red Cliff 2 more servings of war, was not good, but perhaps too much so-consuming battle throughout the film. But overalls Red Cliff 1 and 2 in the category chinese movie version Stud Recommended Movies deh! By the way, make you want to watch Red Cliff 2 but have not seen the first one, I recommend to see the first movie first, because the story will always be continued.

The Lord of The Rings: Return of The King

2011-06-30T05:14:00.000-07:00

The final film in the trilogy began with a backstory-flashback of how Smeagol (Andy Serkis) became the spindly Gollum, when he murdered (by strangulation) his fishing buddy - cousin and river Hobbit Deagol (Thomas Robins), who had discovered the Ring in mud at the bottom of a river; Smeagol claimed it was his birthday present; thereafter, he degenerated physically and mentally into a raw-fish eating creature called Gollum (because of the sound he made when swallowing).
Returning to the present, Sam, Frodo, and scheming, treacherous, schizoid guide Gollum continued their trek to Mount Doom in Mordor to destroy the Ring. Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Gandalf arrived on horseback at Isengard, where they found long-lost hobbits Merry and Pippin. Ent Treebeard had taken over Saruman's former stronghold and kept the evil, weakened Wizard under guard in the tower. Curious Pippin found and soon after, in Rohan, gazed into Saruman's palantir (a magical crystal ball) and foresaw the future ("a glimpse of the enemy's plan") -- "a white tree in a courtyard of stone", interpreted by Gandalf as the burning Gondor city of Minas Tirith ("the City of kings") - the next location of Middle-Earth Men that Sauron would raze to the ground.

To warn them, Gandalf rode his white steed Shadowfax (with Pippin) to Minas Tirith, a three days' ride. Meanwhile, elf Arwen while enroute to Grey Havens changed her mind and returned to Rivendell after having a vision of bearing a son with lover Aragorn - there, she persuaded her father Elrond that she wished to live a mortal life and be with Aragorn, and convinced Elrond to re-forge King Elendil's (and heir Isildur's) Narsil sword (it had overthrown Sauron many years earlier, but was in shards) - for the new king (it was later presented to Aragorn to summon an army to fight against Sauron).

Gandalf and Pippin arrived at Minas Tirith (the new capital of Gondor) - a seven-story structure of buildings and winding streets and passageways, where Gandalf met with grieving steward of the throne King Denethor (John Noble), lamenting the death of his son Boromir. Gandalf warned of coming war and told the uncooperative Denethor to light the beacons to alert neighboring armies. Denethor would not obey, distrusting the next rightful heir to kingship, Aragorn, who was aligned with Rohan (Denethor insisted: "The rule of Gondor is mine and no other's").

The Witch-king of Angmar, the "deadliest" Lord of the Nazgul (one of Sauron's nine slaves), who had stabbed Frodo earlier, kept his liar at Minas Morgul (the "Dead City") - he would lead Mordor's armies of Orcs in war ("the great battle of our time"). at the entrance to Minas Morgul, Gollum led Frodo and Sam up stone stairs toward a tunnel to enter into Mordor, triggering a beam of light toward the heavens. Meanwhile, at the ruins of Osgiliath (the former capital of Gondor), Orcs attacked as part of their plan to overrun the city and use it as a base from which to attack Minas Tirith. Gondor's Faramir (Boromir's younger brother) was unable to hold and defend the city, as hordes of Orcs crossed the river. Prompted by Gandalf, Pippin ignited Gondor's beacon - setting in motion of series of beacon-lights ("Hope is kindled") that reached to Rohan, warning King Theoden and Aragorn to aid Gondor by gathering their Rohirrim horse-warriors and others (6,000 strong) within two days at Dunharrow.

Gollum tricked Frodo into being suspicious about his friend Sam and separated the two - Sam departed after being told: "Go home". Faramir was ordered by his deluded father King Denethor to unwisely try to re-take Osgiliath, and he suffered a life-threatening wound. With Gimli and Legolas, Aragorn left King Theoden and took the deadly evil Path of the Dead (the under-mountain road to the Dimholt), populated with cursed, zombie-like dead traitors and murderers whose Army of the Dead (led by Paul Norell) would only answer to the King of Gondor (with the newly forged Narsil sword). They were persuaded to join Aragorn's forces, to regain their honor and be released from their curse (they were once cursed by Isildur).

The overwhelming siege began on Minas Tirith, with catapults, an attacking swarm of Orcs, giant trolls, Ringwraiths-Nazgul on flying winged creatures, fiery bombs, and a fiery wolf-battering ram against the gates, as Gandalf attempted to rally the outnumbered men. In the citadel of the besieged city, an unconscious Faramir was saved from cremation on a funeral pyre, and his insane father (engulfed in flames) jumped to his death.

After climbing the stairs and arriving at a tunnel, Gollum persuaded Frodo to enter Shelob's Lair where he was attacked by a giant demon spider that wrapped him in webbing and sedated him with poison. Realizing he was tricked by Gollum, Sam returned to save Frodo and fight off the spider with Bilbo's sword (Sting) - and fearing that Frodo was dead, he took the ring for safe-keeping. Frodo was seized by Orcs and taken into the Tower of Cirith Ungol. After realizing that Frodo was not dead, Sam followed behind.

King Theoden's Rohirrim horse-riders appeared on the horizon to provide more defense for Minas Tirith and open up other fronts, although the Witch-king counter-attacked in the Battle of Pelennor Fields with giant, multi-tusked pachyderms Oliphaunts (or Mumakil). Masquerading as a soldier to sneak into the battle, Theoden's niece Eowyn ("I am no man") killed the Witch-king to protect her lethally-wounded uncle who shortly later died of his injuries. The tide of battle turned when Aragorn arrived with the Dead Men Army and routed the Orcs, and then released them from their curse ("I hold your oath fulfilled. Be at peace").

In the Tower of Cirith Ungol where Frodo was held, Sam fought off a few Orc guards to rescue his friend - the two then set off for their final leg of the trip through Mordor to Mount Doom (without Gollum) to dispose of the Ring. To create a diversion, Aragorn proposed taking his remaining forces to the Black Gates of Mordor, to draw off Mordor's and Sauron's 10,000 Orcs so that Frodo (if still alive) could proceed safely ("Keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us"). At the Gates, Aragorn dedicated the battle: "For Frodo" as he led the charge.

At the doorway to the volcanic area of Mount Doom, Gollum attacked Sam and Frodo, and wrestled for possession of the ring; he bit into and severed Frodo's finger to get the Ring, but its cursed power took effect as he celebrated possessing it once again ("Precious"). They struggled more and Gollum fell backwards to his death into the volcano's Crack of Doom while clutching the Ring to himself (Frodo was saved by hanging onto the cliff's edge) - ending its awesome dark power (and the power of Sauron, signified by the collapse of the Tower of Barad-dur and the end of the battle due to shockwaves and earthquakes). Gandalf saved Sam and Frodo with an Eagle from the volcano's destructive path of lava.

Everyone was reunited at Minas Tirith - and Aragorn was crowned the new King with a loving Arwen in attendance, and everyone bowed down to the four Hobbits ("My friends. You bow to no one"). The hobbits returned to their shire, where Sam married Rosie Cotton (Sarah McLeod) and Frodo wrote the story of the Lord of the Rings. In the tearful finale, Frodo left Middle-Earth with his elderly uncle Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm), and was also accompanied by Gandalf - who bid farewell to the rest of the Fellowship (Frodo's three Hobbit friends), and then told Frodo: "It is time, Frodo", before departing with him for the Grey Havens (the elves' Undying Lands). The film ended with Sam joining his new wife and family in their Shire home.

Black Swan

2011-06-29T01:53:00.000-07:00

As a skilled director, Darren Aronofsky has managed to combine a sentimental film about the drama and beauty of sacrifice and tragedy that will attack the psychology of the audience. The film tells about a world that is very competitive but very quiet, which ballet company in New York. In the tradition of ballet there is a supreme achievement that was highlighted and ideal for all athletes ballet, the Black Swan.

Now, the black swan held by Nina (played by Natalie Portman), a woman perfectionist who still lives with his mother who is very conservative. His mother was overprotective in the Nina.

One time Thimas Leroy (company director) decided to resign and retire, and sent officers to find a new soloist for the production of swan lake in future editions. nina finally selected on the grounds that in his subconscious is free of hidden desires, cold. He also has a technical desire, sex appeal, and outstanding personal.

However, it is not without problems. The closer to his first appearance, Nina increasingly felt tremendous pressure. She felt excessively nervous, stress, depression. Nina is also sometimes hallucinating and seeing her face on another woman. Worse, it raises fantasy desire to hurt themselves. She also felt paranoid excessive. He was Lily, a substitute player, trying to grab its share. A game of mental and psychological incredible. This is the greatness of Aronofsky that combines the complexity of the philosophy of the Black Swan. A player sacrifices to create a work of art and looks great. Black Swan is a mixed picture of the beauty of art is very fascinating for the audience. In the end the audience will also be invited to see a logical end and stunning.

The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers

2011-06-28T05:14:00.000-07:00

The sequel opened with a flashback (and Frodo's dream) of the scene in the first film when Gandalf battled the fiery Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad-dum and fell into the chasm, as they continued to fight each other.

The film picked up the story of Frodo and loyal companion Sam on their way to Mordor, lost on the treacherous rocky mountain path of Emyn Muil. They were pursued on their arduous trek by the cave creature Gollum (physically and mentally deformed and corrupted - obsessed with repossessing the Ring for himself), thinking that they were thieves who had stolen his "My precious". Pitying him, Frodo decided to trust Gollum/Smeagol, to act as his Master, and have him be their guide on the way to the Black Gate of Mordor.

In a second storyline, abducted hobbits Merry and Pippin were held by an army of Saruman's Uruk-hai/Orcs and taken to Isengard, while being tracked by three of the original Fellowship: exiled Gondor heir Aragorn, dwarf Gimli and keen archer Legolas.

The evil wizard Saruman was allied with Lord Sauron to dominate Middle-Earth ("The world is changing. Who now has the strength to stand against the armies of Isengard and Mordor? To stand against the might of Sauron and Saruman and the union of the two towers?"). Saruman sent his army out to burn peasant villages, beginning in the region of Rohan ruled by horse-lords and King Theoden (Bernard Hill). The King's only son and heir Theodred was lethally wounded by ambushing Orcs, and the King's nephew Eomer (Karl Urban) was distressed by the killings and wanted to defend the kingdom of Rohan.

Eomer was opposed to the King's treacherous assistant Grima Wormtongue (Brad Dourif), who was in league with Saruman and had lustful feelings for the King's pretty niece Eowyn (Miranda Otto). Grima banished Eomer from Rohan, and continued to weaken and sicken the King with his powers. Eomer's Rohan riders massacred the Orcs and Uruk-hai holding the Hobbits, but unbeknownst to Aragorn, the two had escaped into the ancient Fangorn Forest, where they were saved and befriended by a sentient walking-talking tree creature (or Ent) named Treebeard (voice of John Rhys-Davies) that held them safely in its branches. Meanwhile, Frodo, Sam, and Gollum traversed through a swampy Dead Marsh and evaded a Nazgul Black Rider-Ringwraith on a flying beast before arriving in front of the heavily-garrisoned Black Gate at Mordor. At the Mordor Gate, Gollum divulged another secret pathway (with stairs and a tunnel) for entry, although Sam suspected a trap.

Wizard Gandalf reappeared to the warrior group in the forest as a reborn Gandalf the White ("I've been sent back until my task is done"), and together they rode to Edoras in Rohan. At Rohan, possessed King Theoden was reinstated (after Gandalf released him from the spell of Saruman - fully healed and restored) and then banished Grima. To avoid risking "open war" with Saruman's forces, King Theoden decided to take his people for refuge to their fortress at Helm's Deep. Gandalf left to find Eomer and his 2,000 Rohirrim force who were 300 leagues away, and promised to return within 5 days.

Meanwhile, Grima reported to Saruman about Rohan's plans - solidifying Saruman's determination to destroy them. Armies were gathering to fight "the last war that will cover all the world in Shadow". During a skirmish, Frodo and Sam were taken captive by soldiers of Gondor as Gollum/Smeagol escaped. During the retreat to Helm's Deep, Aragorn was feared dead (he tumbled off a cliff into a river far below) when the contingent was attacked by Saruman's beastly Wargs ridden by Orc soldiers.

Saruman sent his vast ten-thousands of troops (composed of monster warriors called Uruk-hai - Orcs cross-bred with Men) from Isengard to attack the small overwhelmed army of 300 at Helm's Deep and destroy the world of Men. Aragorn was not dead, however - on the water's edge, he was nudged by his horse, revived, and was able to ride to Helm's Deep to lead the defense.

Back in Rivendell, Elrond convinced his immortal elf daughter Arwen to retreat from their threatened area on a ship bound for Valinor and give up her love for Aragorn (to convince her, he provided her with a vision of his eventual death and the pain it would cause her). Sam and Frodo were taken to Boromir's younger brother Faramir (David Wenham), a captain in the Ithelien Rangers in the land of Gondor - "the last free kingdom of Men" that was threatened by Sauron. Faramir also captured Gollum, using his Master Frodo to entrap him, and then learned of the Ring. He also succumbed to its temptation: "The Ring of Power within my grasp...The Ring will go to Gondor". A gathering of the trees, called Entmoot, was held to decide if the Ents would assist in the war against Saruman's forces (they at first decided not to get involved - "This is not our war") - although an enraged Ent persuaded the other trees to assemble and ultimately march. It was dubbed "The Last March of the Ents" - against the treacherous Saruman because he had decimated the forest by industrializing Isengard.

Defensive preparations were made at Helm's Deep, and although the situation looked dire and impossible, a battalion of Elf reinforcements arrived from Rivendell, led by Haldir (Craig Parker). After an initial attack in the pouring rain, the walls of Helm's Deep were scaled with ladders and then destroyed with explosives in the area of the sewer drain opening. Elf leader Haldir lost his life, just as the defenders were forced to retreat into the rear Keep. One last horseback attack into the midst of the enemy was led by Aragorn (to allow the women and children to escape on a mountain pass), bolstered by the arrival of Gandalf (on his white horse) and Eomer (and his cavalry warriors) who then triumphed over Saruman's Uruk-hai/Orc troops, while the marching Ents destroyed Saruman's stronghold at Isengard (throwing boulders and causing a dam burst and flood to topple the tower of Orthanc).

At the same time in the ruined Rohan city of Osgiliath (the former capital of Gondor), Frodo narrowly avoided giving up the ring to a Nazgul Ringwraith riding on a winged creature because of Sam's intervention, and Faramir was finally convinced to release Frodo to continue his journey to Mordor with Sam (now Samwise the Brave) and a scheming, dark-natured Gollum.

The next chapter would show Sauron's terrible wrath and swift retribution: "The Battle for Middle-Earth is about to begin."

The Tourist

2011-06-06T01:32:00.000-07:00

A schoolteacher from Wisconsin named Frank Tupelo (Johnny Depp) meets a mysterious and beautiful woman on a train (Angelina Jolie) and immediately becomes the target for Scotland Yard and a cadre of gangsters who think Frank is the elusive thief known as Alexander Peirce. Same a misterious the story later, the film also opens with a mysterious woman who suddenly sit in front of Frank Tupelo (Johnny Depp), an American tourist, on a train destination Venice, Italy. The woman finally introduce ourselves as Elise Ward (Angelina Jolie) to the man before him who it later emerged was a mathematics teacher, well away from what he imagined Frank Elise if you see a more visible figure as wealthy rock musicians and lovers of espionage novels who is on vacation .

The brief encounter was enough for the Elise in the end to make Frank's interested in him, who does not, Elise-elegantly dressed sexy is like a magnet that attracted the attention of the spy man whenever he passes in front of them. Frank who looked "innocent" and added he was like a tourist who looks dazed Elise finally accepted the invitation to participate with a boat that escorted her to a hotel where he stayed. Elise also finally took her to stay at the hotel with a claim to the receptionist if Frank was her husband.

The movie is in fact a remake of a little known French thriller from 2005 called "Anthony Zimmer," and yes, for those keeping track, this is the second American remake of a recent French thriller in the last month. Be as it may, the movie starts off well enough as we meet Jolie's Elise Clifton-Ward, a mysterious dragon lady who seems to be Scotland Yard's only connection to a wanted thief named Alexander Peirce.

As the story begins, she receives a message from the enigmatic man without a face to find a tourist to pretend to be him in order to throw the police off his track, but the gangster Peirce stole money from is also still looking for him. When Elise meets Depp's Frank Tupelo on a train, he seems like the perfect patsy, and the game of seduction and pursuit begins in earnest once all of the parties converge on Venice.

The biggest problem with "The Tourist" is that the superstar pairing have absolutely zero chemistry, so the very essence of what may have the film appealing to moviegoers--the thought of two mega-superstars getting romantic on screen--is completely absent. As often as the movie tries to capitalize on Jolie's looks, it doesn't quite have Depp's usual charm and personality. We've become so enured to seeing Johnny Depp playing wild over-the-top scenery-chewing characters that when he plays an average guy, it's quite boring because the character lacks all the charm and personality that makes Depp such a presence on screen.

In fact, while it's very easy to figure out what Frank sees in Elise, it's not quite clear what she sees in him because he's kind of a hapless schmoe who is way out of his league. The fact that a former James Bond like Timothy Dalton offers more charisma in his two or three brief appearances makes you realize why Depp might be better off sticking to the eccentric characters with wigs and prosthetics.

The minimal action isn't very impressive either, from Depp's character running across a rooftop in pajamas to a slow boat chase and other lame stunts that could have easily been handled by Depp without the need of a stunt double. Jolie doesn't get too involved in any of it except to steer the boat looking gorgeous during the chase. It's disappointing that we see none of the fierceness she's displayed in "Salt" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," instead glamming it up with a number of costume changes and turning into the "damsel in distress" character that should be below her.

The script, which includes contributions from two Oscar winners, is filled with so many movie clichés it's not particularly hard to figure out the "big twist" from the very get-go, but it's just more proof of the laziness involved in making an action thriller that doesn't stand up to other films in the genre. Still, one can't help but be impressed by marketing that makes the movie look fun and exciting, of which it is neither.

The Lord of The Rings: Fellowship of The Rings

2011-05-28T05:13:00.000-07:00

The film opened with an 8-minute prologue spoken by Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) explaining the backstory of the legend of the ring - it told how the Great Rings were forged and then distributed; however, those who received rings had been deceived since a new Master ring was also forged (in secret) in the fires of Mount Doom by the Dark Lord Sauron in the land of Mordor, in order "to control all others" and to rule over them with cruelty, malice and domination.
The free peoples of the lands of Middle Earth were on the verge of destruction. In one final battle near Mount Doom against the armies of Mordor, Sauron killed King Elendil of the kingdom of Gondor, after which his son Isildur defeated Sauron (with Elendil's Narsil sword) and acquired the ring, but the ring corrupted him too. For 2,500 years, "the ring passed out of all knowledge" until acquired by the creature Gollum (Andy Serkis) in a dark cave ("My precious"), giving him long life for 500 years, yet it consumed him and poisoned his mind.

When the ring abandoned Gollum, it was acquired by Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm), a "halfling", fur-footed hobbit of the Shire. Now Sauron was in pursuit to reclaim the ring that gave its possessor invincible power and threatened to cover the lands with darkness.

As the film began, Bilbo was celebrating his "eleventy-first" (111th) birthday. He bequeathed all his possessions (including the ring) to his nephew, adopted heir Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), while he told Frodo he was leaving to stay in Rivendell. Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) instructed Frodo to leave the shire with the ring and proceed to the village of Bree with his gardener friend Sam (Sean Austin). Nine dark, horse-riding faceless Nazgul (or Ringwraiths) sent by Sauron to recover the Ring pursued Frodo and his companions, now including two other hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and his best friend Pippin (Billy Boyd).

Meanwhile, Gandalf met with corrupted sorcerer Saruman (Christopher Lee) at Isengard, where he learned that Saruman was in league with Sauron's plans to dominate Middle-Earth. At Bree in the Inn of the Prancing Pony, the group met Strider/aka Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) (the wandering, outcast, exiled heir of Isildur to the throne of Gondor) who helped protect and guide them. Saruman was creating an army of fiercesome, zombie-like Orcs (with rotting bodies) to do his will by cutting down forests and forging weapons. The Hobbit group and Strider proceeded to the elf enclave of Rivendell after Frodo was stab-wounded by a Ringwraith's sword (a Morgul blade).

Gandalf miraculously escaped from Saruman's imprisonment on the back of an eagle and proceeded to Rivendell, where after a six days journey, Frodo was rushed on horseback by elf Arwen (Liv Tyler). There, Frodo was healed by her father Elrond (Hugo Weaving). Arwen pledged her love to Aragorn, telling him: "I choose a mortal life" - she chose to forsake the immortal life of her people for Aragorn's love. During a Council meeting led by Elrond to answer the threat of Mordor and determine how to destroy the Ring (the one place it could be destroyed was in the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor where it was forged), Frodo volunteered ("I will take it") - he was to be accompanied there by the "Fellowship of the Ring" - nine individuals including himself, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gandalf, swordsman Aragorn, skilled archer elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom), axe-wielding dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and Boromir (Sean Bean); Bilbo gave Frodo a magical sword and Mithril (a protective vest) for the journey.

After reaching an impasse through the treacherous wintry pass on the mountain of Caradhras due to Saruman's sorcery, they decided to travel under the mountain through the dwarven Mines of Moria, a dark passageway where they were confronted by a giant cave troll in Balin's Tomb and an army of Orcs. At the Bridge of Khazad-dum, Gandalf held off the fiery demonic Balrog ("You shall not pass") so the others could escape, although he fell (seemingly to his death) into the chasm after Balrog when his leg was caught by Balrog's giant whip.

The group emerged from the mines into the magical forest of Lothlorien, ruled by the Lady of the Wood Queen Galadriel and her husband Lord Celeborn (Marton Csokas), where they found rest. Galadriel showed Frodo the future in a watery mirror - his destiny was to be a Ring-bearer and to destroy the Ring ("This task was appointed to you"). Before they left, Galadriel gave Frodo a farewell gift - the Light of Earendil (or Star-Glass). The group proceeded on the River Anduin (with two impressive colossal statues) and disembarked at Parth Galen.

Boromir confronted Frodo in the woods and sought to take the Ring, to save his afflicted land of Gondor with the ring's power ("It should be mine. Give it to me!") - to escape, Frodo vanished momentarily when he put the ring on his finger. In contrast, Aragorn refused to take the Ring from Frodo when he had the opportunity and pledged his steadfast allegiance.
Frodo decided to proceed to Mordor alone as the rest of the group was attacked in the forest by Saruman's Uruk-hai (Orcs cross-bred with men), commanded by Lurtz (Lawrence Makoare). Boromir lost his life with three arrows from Lurtz' bow in his torso. An angered Aragorn decapitated Lurtz, and then went to the side of Boromir as he expired and confessed his wrongful obsession with taking Frodo's ring. When Aragorn replied that Boromir was forgiven, he also promised that he wouldn't allow the kingdom of Gondor to fall into ruin: "I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you, I will not let the White City fall nor our people fail"; then with his last few words, Boromir expressed his allegiance to Aragorn as his king: "Our people. Our people. I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king".
During the struggle, Merry and Pippin were captured and taken away by the monstrous warriors, and the remaining members of the group decided to pursue them to rescue the two Hobbits. In the final scene, Frodo was joined by loyal companion Sam as they continued on to Mordor.

Buried

2011-05-15T01:22:00.000-07:00

The film is very simple, very simple and very minimal budget. There is only one main character, one place and one case. The film is just a kind of business life from someone who is buried in a coffin and buried alive. But the simplicity of ideas and the story does not mean the film is not spectacular and thrilling. Just when the audience is forced to focus on the tension by the tension of the work done the main actor in the escape from death, which confine him in a coffin in the ground. The actor is only equipped with a mobile phone and a book of matches!

The scene begins with a tense, when Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds), an American truck driver who was in Iraq, was confused because he woke up in a coffin buried in the ground. With all the effort he finally managed to break away from the bonds in the hands and mouth. He was trying to remember the events until he could buried alive in a coffin underground.

Eventually she was panicked, he shouted loudly for help. But he finally let go and realize that will not hear anyone scream. Lucky he still keeps a cell phone. He thought to call was the way out the most reasonable.

However, he does not keep important numbers he could call, including her phone number and unfortunately he did not remember it anymore. Moreover, all those close to her far in America. The problem grew when Paul realized that he inhaled oxygen will be more depleted. So also with the battery cell.

The tension for the sake of suspense will suck up the attention of all viewers who see this movie. Since all the grooves and the horrors described seem so real and as if without engineering. This is not out of the aid of lighting, great actors (which could show the face of hysteria, fear, confusion, despair), and sound effects are simple but effective. Seeing this film is the audience (we) will be invited to an adventure full of tension at 90 minutes.

The Craighlist Killer

2011-05-10T01:05:00.000-07:00

The Craigslist Killer case--which found an unsteady ending only five months ago, when Phillip Markoff (Greek's Jake McDorman) committed suicide in his jail cell--reminded us that just because the Internet gives easy access to strangers, it doesn't ensure the emotional stability of its inhabitants. Lifetime's flick primarily takes place in the months leading up to the wedding of Phillip and Megan McAllister (Agnes Bruckner, Private Practice), two bright-eyed med students at Boston University. Their romance seems picture-perfect: After a speedy courtship, they're engaged to be married, with Megan setting up a wedding website complete with countdown and picking out china, while Phillip starts to get serious cold feet. We quickly learn that not only can he not handle his impending nuptials, but that he has a twisted problem with all women. (Perhaps some of the red flags should have been raised by Phillip's non-Millennial behavior: worrying about exclusivity after one kiss, projecting ahead 60 years on the first date.)

Unbeknownst to his fiancée--who is unfortunately portrayed as something of a dumb blonde--he spends late-night sessions with wine and the Erotic Services section of Craigslist. He blows off steam by meeting women at hotels, where he ties them up and steals their panties. But when one woman, Julissa Brisman, fights back, he kills her in a panic. So begins the increasingly violent and reckless behavior that tips off the detective assigned to the case (William Baldwin) to catch Phillip.

Where the Lifetime adaptation of this shocking tale missteps is in the portrayals of its stars. I will say, Phillip gets the more nuanced treatment. His proclivities are not depicted with the same slavering obsession that we saw in the Internet addicts of 2008's Gamer; if anything, he's much cooler about his dependence.
The most affecting sequence is when Baldwin's detective ticks off the list of what makes up their profile, contrasted with images of Phillip doing everything they thought the killer couldn't: Entertaining at parties, holding court over admirers, satisfying his woman. Yet we see that in social situations he suffers flashes of detachment from reality. His only anchor, it seems, is the lurid digital world of anonymous sex: preening for the faceless masses, and making face-to-face transactions. But without any look into his head, and the trauma that must have preceded his psychopathic behavior, we don't get the whole picture.

The character of Megan McAllister is even more underserved. The fact that she staunchly defended Phillip's innocence even as damning evidence came to light could have been thoughtfully explored, but instead we just see a dope--a young woman who by all accounts should have a bright future in the medical field--consistently making a fool of herself. She takes all of his bizarre actions without question; the most sympathy we dredge up for her is when she confronts Phillip in prison, crying and asking, "What did I do?" In this story, nothing much.

The movie also coasts over how easy it is to blame the women killed--for meeting up with a strange man alone, for peddling erotic services. Again, it's a superficial nod at best. "But this is Lifetime," you argue. "We don't need psychoanalysis." True, but when you straddle the spectrum by offering up a serious base with no frills or follow-through, it's tough for the audience to take anything away from it.

In some ways, this is better than most Lifetime movies--better plotted, better (more serious) approach to the subject matter. But that's a tad disappointing, all the same: True-crime stories are often more fun when deliciously over-the-top.

The Bourne Ultimatum

2011-04-28T05:12:00.000-07:00

This third, action-packed adaptation began with Bourne continuing to be chased in Moscow (a continuation of the action scene from the end of the second film) following a tense car chase and being wounded by Russian assassin Kirill. He escaped from a medical clinic where he had been treated, telling two officers that he kept alive: "My argument is not with you."

Six weeks later, UK London Guardian investigative newspaper reporter and "Security Correspondent" Simon Ross (Paddy Considine), asking "What connects the dots?", wrote a well-informed feature article about CIA-trained amnesiac agent Jason Bourne (Matt Damon). Ross was tipped off in Turin, Italy by Madrid's CIA Station Chief Neal Daniels (Colin Stinton) about a top-secret, upgraded CIA umbrella program (of Treadstone) code-named Operation Blackbriar - of interest to Bourne - and to ruthless, "dirty," black-ops Deputy CIA Director Noah Vosen (David Strathairn) in New York and his serious colleague Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) who wanted to keep the information secret. Vosen was led to assume that Bourne was Ross' journalistic source.

Bourne was forced to avoid various nefarious CIA forces that were targeting him for elimination throughout the entire film; it was a race against time, as Bourne, still considered a serious threat by the CIA, sought to meet Ross (in a brilliantly-choreographed surveillance sequence in London's cavernous Waterloo Station) and learn about his own origins and identity by retracing his steps ("Someone started all of this and I'm gonna find them"). However, Ross was under intense surveillance by the CIA as he took a taxi to the station, although Bourne cleverly instructed him how to avoid being tracked. Bourne learned from Ross that Blackbriar was a "Treadstone upgrade," and that Bourne was "square one, the dirty little secret."

However, Ross was shot and killed by sniper fire from London "asset" or assassin Paz (Edgar Ramirez) in the midst of the busy Waterloo concourse. With Ross' hand-scribbled notes, Bourne learned the identity of Ross' source, Neal Daniels, and trailed him to his Madrid office location. Deputy CIA Director Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) was called upon to aid in the search effort for Bourne, to Vosen's consternation, and she also tracked down Ross' source.

Bourne was the first to reach Madrid, however, where he found Daniels' emptied safe, although there was a single photograph on the floor of two individuals (later identified as Daniels and Dr. Hirsch) - causing him severe flashbacks (to the time of his early indoctrination and training period as a CIA operative). When Vosen's CIA team arrived at the office, Bourne fought them off, and teamed up with sympathetic operative-ally Nicolette "Nicky" Parsons (Julia Stiles) who unexpectedly just arrived. She had been reassigned and posted there in Madrid after Berlin, and helped Bourne further trail Daniels to Tangier, Morocco (300 miles away, where he had wired himself $100,000) while simultaneously helping him evade his old employer (she lied to Vosen about Bourne's whereabouts when he spoke to her on the phone).

Vosen told Landy that Blackbriar started as a NEAT surveillance program, but now was "the umbrella program for all our black ops. Full envelope intrusion, rendition, experimental interrogration...We are the sharp end of the stick now, Pam. (Lethal action?) If we have to, sure. That's what makes us special. No more red tape. No more getting the bad guys caught in our sights, then watching them escape while we wait for someone in Washington to issue the order."

In Tangier, Morocco, the CIA ordered Daniels assassinated by "asset" Desh Bouksani (Joey Ansah) coming from Casablanca, with Nicky and Bourne pursuing Daniels to question him about Bourne's own forgotten past (Bourne told Nicky: "Something happened to me, and I need to know what it was, or I'll never be free of this"). During the pursuit, Vosen discovered that Nicky had deceived Desh to help Bourne locate him, and judged that she had "compromised a covert operation" - Vosen ordered her exterminated as well ("We find Parsons, we find Bourne") - and prompted Landy to quit after telling him: "You do not have the authority to kill her...Noah, she's one of us. You start down this path, where does it end?"

Bourne followed Desh on motorbike, but was unable to prevent Daniels from dying in his car next to Desh's remote planted bomb. Bourne was stunned by the blast, but was able to follow Desh as he pursued Nicky (and he himself was pursued by Tangier police who mistook him for the car bomber), in an exciting motorbike street chase and footrace sequence that went through courtyards, across rooftops, and into windows, ending with Bourne beating and strangling Desh to death. Bourne saved Nicky's life, and then told her to divert the pursuit - "code it in" that they were dead. Nicky left him when she boarded a bus to blend in and disappear, as Bourne told her: "It gets easier."

The action then shifted to New York City where Bourne went to further clear his name at a CIA substation in the city, after finding its address in Daniels' charred papers at the Tangier morgue. He cleverly diverted Vosen from his NY office, having him trail Landy to falsely meet up with Bourne, while Bourne himself entered Vosen's empty office and stole top-secret Blackbriar papers from his high-security safe.

The film's third cat-and-mouse pursuit was a car chase in mid-town Manhattan with Bourne driving a hijacked (and battered) NYPD police car while pursued by assassin Paz, culminating with Paz's serious injuries after a massive crash, although Bourne refused to kill him. After delivering the stolen documents from Vosen's safe to Landy, Bourne entered the Treadstone-Blackbriar behavioral modification training facility at 415 E. 71st Street (code-named from Pamela Landy's disclosure of Bourne's birthdate) and confronted its director Dr. Albert Hirsch (Albert Finney) who told Bourne that he had voluntarily joined the program years earlier as the pilot candidate Captain David Webb ("You made yourself into who you are...You chose right here to become Jason Bourne"), to serve his country and "save American lives." To prove he wasn't "weak" and to "let go of David Webb," he chose to kill a black-hooded man bound on a chair in a corner. (Nicky had described earlier to Bourne what Daniels had told her about Bourne's indoctrination: "The training was experimental, behavior modification. They had to break down the agents before they became operational." Bourne was the "first one.")

Bourne confessed to Hirsch: "I remember everything. I'm no longer Jason Bourne," but did not kill Hirsch, explaining: "You don't deserve the star they'd give you on the wall at Langley." Bourne then found himself assaulted by CIA agents, including recovered assassin Paz on the CIA building's rooftop, who asked why he was spared earlier: "Why didn't you take a shot?" Bourne escaped being killed when he replied: "Do you even know why you're supposed to kill me?....Look at us. Look at what they make you give" - (words similar to what The Professor had told Bourne as he died in the first film). However, Vosen shot at him as he ran and jumped from the roof and fell 10 stories into the East River below, then floated motionless and appeared to be dead.

Meanwhile, Landy exposed the entire Blackbriar program to the media and to Congress (revealing it as a criminal assassination program, after she had faxed the stolen documents from Vosen's office to the FBI, and told Vosen personally: "You better get yourself a good lawyer"). Her expose culminated in the arrests of its proponents, the two CIA officials Hirsch ("the alleged mastermind of the Blackbriar program") and Vosen ("the program's operational chief"), and top CIA boss Ezra Kramer (Scott Glenn) who underwent a US Senate hearing and criminal investigation, although Kramer denied involvement in authorizing the program (that may in some cases have even targeted US citizens).

Nicky smiled as she watched an MSNBC breaking news report about Blackbriar's exposure and the multiple arrests, ending with the revelation (headlined "Former CIA Agent Missing") that former CIA agent David Webb's body "has yet to be found" three days since he fell into the East River - Webb's motionless body moved, and then swam away.

The Bourne Supremacy

2011-04-28T05:08:00.001-07:00

In this sequel with basically the same characters as in the original sleeper hit, amnesiac CIA agent Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) found himself haunted by flashbacks and nightmares of "bits and pieces" of his former life (and a botched mission after he was trained as an assassin - his first 'hit' job ever). He was living two years later in Goa, India with German girlfriend Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente); he was recording his recollections in a journal to help him piece together his past (later discovered to be a crucial assassination carried out in a Berlin hotel room).

Meanwhile, in Berlin, Germany, there was a CIA sting operation, led by ambitious CIA Deputy Director Pamela Landy (Joan Allen). It was being conducted to obtain what were called the "Neski files." A paid Russian assassin named Kirill (Karl Urban) sabotaged the operation - he first planted two bombs on conduits leading from the basement's electrical circuit box - one that didn't explode had Jason Bourne's fingerprints on them, in order to frame him. Then, when the other bomb exploded to cut off the power, Kirill murdered the CIA case officer/agent and his Russian mole contact during the exchange of money ($3 million in cash) for the sale of files containing incriminating evidence about the identity of the agent who stole $20 million from the CIA seven years earlier ("These files will prove who stole your money").

Immediately afterwards, Kirill sold the files to shady Moscow oil tycoon, the Pekos Oil Company CEO named Yuri Gretkov (Karl Roden). [Spoiler: Yuri bought oil leases for $20 million with the stolen CIA money and was in a covert alliance with evil mastermind and veteran CIA boss Ward Abbott (Brian Cox). Both Conklin (Chris Cooper) and Abbott, Bourne's controllers, were involved in a secret criminal conspiracy which Neski had documented, netting them funds in their own personal bank accounts.]

Kirill's next paid mission was to eliminate Bourne in India, where he was sent by Gretkov. He made an assassination attempt on his life in the village market, but Marie was the one who was tragically shot by the sniper's fire and was killed as they were pursued, and their vehicle toppled off a bridge into a river. Bourne's attempts at artificial resuscitation were in vain. Kirill believed he had killed his target and was paid off. Undetected, Bourne escaped and decided to re-enter the "grid" to find out the plot against him and his role in Treadstone (from the first film), while keeping only one picture of him with Marie.

When Landy learned that the fingerprint at the scene of the double murder was linked to the CIA's top-secret Treadstone project (and agent Jason Bourne who was their number one operative, but had screwed up a job off the coast of France), she was condescendingly told at CIA headquarters at Langley, Virginia by Abbott that she "might have wandered a little bit past your pay grade." However, when she disclosed she was given clearance to all information from CIA Director Martin Marshall (Tomas Arana), she was told that Treadstone was "a kill squad, black-on-black" that was closed down two years ago, and Bourne's whereabouts were now unknown. A CIA substation in London picked up Bourne's reentry point into Europe at Naples, Italy, but shortly thereafter, he escaped from custody.

Landy continued her fact-gathering, learning that seven years earlier, $20 million of CIA funds disappeared during a wire transfer through Moscow. In the subsequent investigation, the CIA was contacted by Russian politician Vladimir Neski, claiming that the CIA had a leak and that they'd been ripped off by someone internally. A final determination was never reached, since Neski was killed (reportedly by his wife in Hotel Brecker in Berlin, determined at the time to be a murder-suicide) during negotiations for a meeting. Landy described how a second source, another Russian in Berlin, had recently obtained access to the Neski murder files - and they thought they could get more information by buying the files in Berlin, but Bourne (connected by fingerprints) intervened and allegedly committed a hit on the two.

The elusive Bourne, knowing that he had been framed and suspected of Kirill's double murders in Berlin, and knowing that he was being simultaneously pursued by the CIA (since he was an embarrassment to them - Marshall vowed: "We're gonna find this son-of-a-bitch and take him down") and Russian criminal Kirill (to finish the job), he stole a car and drove to Munich, Germany (on his way to Berlin), to attempt to clear his name. In Munich, he questioned former Treadstone agent Jarda (Marton Csokas), who admitted that after Treadstone was shut down, following Conklin's death in Paris: "We're the last two." When they fought together, Bourne strangled Jarda and blew up his apartment, allowing Bourne time to escape.

Bourne drove further onto Berlin, where he located Pamela Landy staying at the Westin Grand Hotel. He followed her to CIA headquarters, where she was leading a massive search effort for him. While sighting her in his sniper scope, he spoke to Landy on the phone, learning that Treadstone was shut down two years earlier, and that he had "killed two people" in Berlin. For a moment, he thought she was referring to Vladimir Neski and his wife's death, not the recent sting operation. He volunteered to be brought in, through a rendezvous with Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles), Treadstone's operative in Paris two years earlier. After eluding snipers and other operatives, he was able to interrogate Nicky (who was wired), and realized he had been set up in Berlin (he was in India watching Marie die at the time). He angrily asked about the CIA's efforts to get him: "Why are you trying to frame me?" She also admitted that Abbott ran Treadstone and "Conklin reported to him," and that the Berlin sting buy had "something to do with a Russian politician [Neski]."

One of Abbott's young staff members, Danny Zorn (Gabriel Mann), confided in his boss about how he had investigated the two charges on the electrical box, and how the second one was deliberately not set to go off, to frame Bourne with his fingerprints ("It was staged"). When Zorn asked crucial questions: "What if somebody were trying to cover their tracks by blaming Conklin and Bourne? What if Bourne didn't have anything to do with this?", Zorn lost his life with a knife to the midsection when Abbott silenced him over this crucial bit of information.

Bourne had been in Berlin for a previous Treadstone job (although Nicky only knew of a job in Geneva) - he 'remembered' his "first time" job (for boss Conklin) killing a Russian couple, Vladimir Neski (a Russian government official) and his wife, in their Hotel Brecker room (#645) in Berlin, who were about to identify the mole thief - leaving Irena as their young orphaned daughter. When he revisited the hotel, Bourne flashbacked to the night of the Neski murders, remembering how he shot them and made it look like a murder-suicide. He then escaped pursuit from the Berlin police.

When Zorn's body was discovered, Abbott felt trapped, and phoned Gretkov from his Westin Grand Hotel room, telling him: "They're onto Neski...They can't prove anything without Bourne. Kill Bourne and you kill this investigation." Abbott reminded Gretkov that they had both stolen and split the money, but that his earlier order to kill Bourne was still paramount: "You bought those oil leases with $20 million in stolen CIA seed money. You owe me...The plan can still be salvaged. Just get Bourne. Do you hear me? He's still out there. Now get him."

Bourne had overheard the entire conversation in the hotel room, and was taping Abbott as he confessed and self-incriminated himself in the attempted conspiratorial extortion scheme, and his link to the Neski murders Bourne was tempted, but didn't kill Abbott, explaining that non-violent Marie wouldn't have wanted him to: "She wouldn't want me to. That's the only reason you're alive." The tape was mailed to Landy, and Abbott shortly afterwards committed suicide (after vowing to Landy in his hotel room: "I'm a patriot. I serve my country," and calling Danny Zorn's death "collateral damage"). He knew that he would be implicated (he had sabotaged the sale of the Neski files, framed Bourne with the help of the Russian assassin Kirill, and murdered Zorn).

Jason then traveled to Moscow by train, where he was involved in an extended high-speed car chase through the crowded streets between himself (driving a hijacked yellow taxi), assassin Kirill (re-sent by Gretkov to finish Bourne off) in a stolen black Mercedes SUV, and multiple police cars ordered by the CIA, that ended in a spectacular tunnel crash. Bourne was satisfied that Kirill was about to die from his massive injuries. Gretkov was arrested by Russian police by orders from Landy, after she listened to Abbott's tape.

Bourne then sought out Irena Neski (Oksana Akinshina), living in an apartment outside of the city (in the Orannyi Projects), to apologize to her for killing her parents (and to set the record straight that her mother didn't kill her father and then commit suicide). She sobbed as he told her: "I killed them. It was my job. It was my first time. Your father was supposed to be alone. But then your mother came out of nowhere and I had to change my plan. It changes things, that knowledge, doesn't it? When what you love gets taken from you, you wanna know the truth. I'm sorry."

Then, after traveling to NYC, he telephoned Landy in her office there to hopefully end his involvement in the Treadstone debacle, and to ask her why the CIA was still looking for him ("What do you want?"). She thanked him for the tape ("We got what we needed. It's all tied off. It's over"), and then gave him an off-the-record apology. She then supplied him, from his top-secret file, with his real name (David Webb), birthdate (4-15-71) [Bourne's actual birthdate was 9-13-70] and birthplace (Nixa, Missouri). She asked: "Why don't you come in and we'll talk about it" - but he declined by peering at her in her office from afar and telling her: "Get some rest, Pam. You look tired." In the final shot, he disappeared into a crowded sidewalk in downtown Manhattan.

Duo Date

2011-04-20T00:49:00.000-07:00

Todd Phillips is one of the maestro director who makes people laugh a lot to laugh. At least there are 2 products that already release and success makes people happy, The Hangover (2009), and The Hangover 2 (which will come out in 2011). The ideas of light and simple to make the audience relaxed and easy to understand the story. especially supported by the character actor who was a specialist in film comedy. Todd worked in this film with Robert Downey and Zach Galifianakis. Duet two actors is like to be a magical power of its own. That said, the audience was laughing before seeing the movie. The pair managed to make the absurdity-the absurdity that will whisk spectators stomach.

Road story in this film begins when Peter Highman (Robert Downey) come home to Los Angeles to wait the birth of his first child. He hopes to get to on time, knowing he was a business executive.
In this plane-silliness silliness began. Peter met with Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis), an aspiring artist who is very confident. They fight on the plane so badly until they were finally released and given a sentence "no-fly". Unfortunately, bags and wallets belonging Peter carried on the aircraft. Finally, he reluctantly accepted an offer Ethan to go together, because they were one goal. This calamitous journey coloring along their journey, accompanied by her dog a cute and attractive.

The film is perhaps not as spectacular The Hangover, but the film is obviously very cool to watch. Silliness and jokes that there are two figures along the way can really make the audience would not stop laughing throughout the movie is playing.
Enjoy .......

The Bourne Identity

2011-03-28T05:08:00.000-07:00

The film opened with an almost-dead male (Matt Damon) being plucked from the Mediterranean waters 60 miles south of Marseilles, France by an Italian fishing boat. He was found to have two bullet wounds in his back, and a surgically-implanted capsule with a red LED display was also located in his hip implanted under the skin. It contained the number of a Zurich, Switzerland bank account. When he awakened, he was unsure about where he was and why. [Back at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, it was confirmed to project director Ted Conklin (Chris Cooper) that a "mission failed" - a reference unclear in the film at this point.] Onboard the fishing vessel for a few weeks, the amnesiac realized, to his own surprise, that he had skills in tying nautical knots, and could read navigational maps, as well as speak various languages.

When they landed in France, he boarded a train to Zurich, Switzerland. He was accosted by two German-speaking police for sleeping overnight in a park, and again exhibited a surprising ability to fight and handle a firearm to evade them and render them unconscious.

[Another sequence at the CIA showed a tape of former African dictator Nykwana Wombosi (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) speaking to the press in Paris during his exile. He threatened to "name names" of CIA operatives within Africa, unless the agency helped restore him to power in 6 months. Wombosi also claimed that he just survived an assassination attempt perpetrated by the CIA, a supposedly unfounded claim. Conklin spoke to his superior, CIA Deputy Dir. Ward Abbott (Brian Cox), and asked if Operation Treadstone - a top-secret CIA project codename - was involved: "Was this Treadstone?" Conklin explained how he had lost communication with his operative two weeks earlier.]

The amnesiac approached Zurich's Gemeinschaft's Bank the next morning - knowing the number of his safe-deposit box from the embedded capsule. When he opened the box, he found $100,000 cash in various currencies, credit cards, airline tickets, six passports with different names/nationalities (and his picture on all of them), various devices/tools, and a 9 mm Sig-Sauer pistol. He adopted the name "Jason Bourne" from the US passport (identifying him as from NYC): "My name is Jason Bourne. I live in Paris," and then took everything except the handgun. He realized he was being pursued after one of the bank employees, one of the CIA's sources, placed a call about sighting him.
Bourne was pursued by police and other authorities in and through the US Consulate, as the alert was sounded and the building was evacuated. He found he could scale the outside of the building. He then teamed up with German student vagabond Marie Helena Kreutz (Franka Potente) as a hitchhiker (for a fare of $20,000) bound for Paris in her old, tiny red Austin Mini Cooper.

After the CIA had been alerted, Conklin ordered from CIA headquarters: "I want Bourne in a body bag by sundown." He was now a target to be eliminated by other Treadstone operatives or assassins (called "assets") because the CIA was embarrassed by the botched mission. Three assassins were contacted and dispatched to Paris: The Professor (Clive Owen) from Barcelona, Manheim (Russell Levy) from Hamburg, and Castel (Nicky Naude) in Rome. In a Treadstone Safe House in Paris, CIA logistics coordinator and operative Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) aided the effort.

Now in Paris, Bourne located his local address from his passport. In the apartment where he didn't recognize anything, he surmised he was in the shipping business. He hit redial on his phone and connected with the front desk of the Hotel Regina. He asked the clerk to look up his British passport CIA alias name: John Michael Kane, a previously-registered guest. He was told that Kane was killed instantly two weeks earlier from an accident on the motorway. Then, Bourne was assaulted by Castel with a machine-gun, and during their struggle, Castel's leg and arm were broken - and he jumped out of the window to his death to escape questioning. Marie was shocked to learn that they were both targeted on wanted posters. They fled the scene together. [Nicky notified Conklin that their man Castel was killed by Bourne.]

At a train station, Bourne stashed the money in a locker, while Marie remained in the parked car, although she left briefly to buy some liquor. Although he argued that she should go to the police "before this gets any worse" to clear her name ("You tell them everything that happened. Everything. They're gonna believe you. They have to believe you") while he went on the run, she decided to remain with him - signified when she fastened her seatbelt, as police approached and he told her: "Last chance, Marie."

The film then featured a harrowing, lengthy and speeding car chase sequence between Bourne, who was driving Marie's Mini Cooper, and Parisian gendarmes that took place on Paris' streets and back alleys (and even down steps, along sidewalks, and the wrong way down a crowded thoroughfare). They ditched the car in an underground parking garage so that they couldn't be easily traced.

[In the Hoffenmeim Morgue in Paris, Wombosi was called upon to identify the planted body of 'John Michael Kane' - and said: "It's not him. This man was not shot." Nicky again notified Conklin of the failed plan: "He didn't buy it." Frustrated, Conklin ordered the Professor, a deadly sniper now in Paris, to perform another hit on Wombosi - and then frame Bourne for the killing.] Meanwhile, in a hotel room together, Jason dyed her hair a darker color and then cut it short, as a further disguise - and then they presumably made love together.

Bourne decided to pay a visit to Hotel Regina where John Michael Kane had stayed, to get his hotel bill - Marie (impersonating Mr. Kane's personal assistant) was able to easily ask for a photocopy without following through on their intricate plan. Sniper fire from the Professor assassinated Wombosi in his Parisian accommodations as he walked by a window. Conklin then told Ward Abbott that he was positive that the killing was Bourne's doing: "He had an assignment. He failed. He obviously felt compelled to finish the task. We think he'll come back in now." Conklin assured Abbott: "I told you we'd clean this up."

By making multiple phone calls and an office visit to follow up on John Michael Kane's identity and whereabouts, plus the news of Wombosi's recent death, Bourne learned that he was a CIA black ops assassin based in Paris, using the name John Michael Kane, in a top-secret CIA project called Treadstone - but he had failed in his mission 3 weeks earlier to assassinate Wombosi on his yacht five miles off the coast of Marseilles in the Mediterranean (when he received two bullet wounds in the back) - for reasons to be disclosed later in the film.

Fearing that they were the next targets in Paris ("If we stay here, we die"), Bourne and Marie traveled into the central French rural countryside, where Marie had a friend named Eamon (Tim Dutton) that owned a farmhouse. That night, Bourne told Marie: "I don't wanna know who I am anymore...I don't wanna know...Everything I found out, I want to forget. I don't care who I am or what I did. We have this money. We can hide. Could we do that?" However, they were pursued there the next morning by the Professor. Bourne blew up a propane tank to obscure the sniper's view - and then during a shoot-out in a tall wheat field, Bourne shot the Professor in the arm and chest - he told Bourne as he expired that he also worked for Operation Treadstone (although Bourne didn't fully understand), but that he worked alone: "I work alone like you. We always work alone....Treadstone, both of us...Look at this. Look at what they make you give."

Afterwards, an insistent Bourne (who kept $30K of the money and gave her the remainder) sent a reluctant Marie away with Eamon to protect her, although they had both fallen in love: "This is not gonna stop, Marie. You gotta get out now, away from me...You get low, you stay low. No more friends. Nothing familiar. There's enough in there for you to make a life. Any life...I'll end it. Go ahead." He used the Professor's phone to speak to Conklin, falsely reported that Marie was dead, and then proposed a meeting with Conklin in Paris at 5:30 pm that day, in the middle of a bridge named Pont Neuf. Conklin left on a flight to Paris to "clean this up" - and also contacted operatives to assist him. Abbott complained: "You've given me nothing but a trail of collateral damage from Zurich to Paris."

When Conklin was not alone on the bridge, Bourne refused to meet with him, but was able to plant a tracking device on one of Conklin's vehicles - giving him the location of Treadstone's Safe House in Paris. There, after creating a car-alarm diversion, he gained access and held Conklin and Nicky Parsons at gunpoint. He asked Conklin: "Are you Treadstone?" as the CIA project director realized: "You don't have a goddamn clue." When Bourne asked: "Who am I?", he was told: "You're US government property. You're a malfunctioning $30 million dollar weapon. You're a total god-damn catastrophe." When asked what happened at Marseilles three weeks earlier, Bourne began to remember his failed mission there as John Michael Kane - he was instructed to make the murder on Wombosi's yacht look like it was executed by one of Wombosi's own men. However, as he was about to pull the trigger on the dictator, he couldn't kill the man who was on the couch with his children (and as a consequence, Bourne was shot twice in the back by bodyguards as he jumped into the ocean).

Ultimately, after Bourne remembered, he told Conklin he wanted to call everything off: "I don't wanna do this anymore...Jason Bourne is dead. Do you hear me? He drowned two weeks ago. You're gonna go tell 'em that Jason Bourne is dead...I swear to God, if I even feel somebody behind me..." Conklin refused, and then revealed that he was wired and transmitting Bourne's words. Bourne angrily knocked Conklin unconscious, left Nicky unhurt, and fought off (and shot) several CIA operatives in the apartment's stairwell before escaping. The third assassin Manheim finished off Conklin with a 9 mm Luger (fitted with a silencer) as he emerged into the street - obviously an order from Abbott, who wanted Treadstone closed down, and commanded: "Shut it down." Shortly later, Abbott testified before a Congressional committee that Treadstone was no more, but that there was a new project: "The Treadstone Project has actually already been terminated. It was designed primarily as a sort of advanced game program. We'd hoped it might build into a good training platform but, quite honestly, for a strictly theoretical exercise, the cost-benefit ratio was just too high. It's all but decommissioned at this point... Black Briar is a joint D.O.D. communications program that we really feel has good traction. It's got legs. It'll run and run. It combines elements of..."

In the finale, Bourne reunited with Marie on the remote Greek island of Mykonos, where she was running a scooter rental shop (using the money he gave her when they separated after the Professor's death). He entered and said: "It's nice. It's a little hard to find, but...," and then asked her: "Think I could rent a scooter?" to which she replied: "You have ID?" with his answer: "Not really" - before they hugged.

Music and Lyrics

2011-03-15T00:38:00.000-07:00

The first romantic comedy of the year (Catch and Release) hit too many bad notes. The second one (Because I Said So) was so painful to watch that listening to a full concert by William Hung would have been a better way to spend an evening. And now, a mere seven weeks into 2007, Warner Bros Pictures tests the semi-crowded romantic comedy waters with Music and Lyrics. After two stinkeroos, fans of the much-maligned genre finally have reason to stand up and sing.

Hugh Grant stars as Alex Fletcher, a has-been pop singer from a Wham!-ish ‘80s group who earns a living cashing in on his former success by singing at amusement parks, tiny concert venues, and the occasional high school reunion. Alex is actually satisfied with his present state of minor fame, but his business manager/friend (Brad Garrett) knows Alex has still got a few notes left to hit in his career before he’s relegated to the land of pop obscurity.A surprising opportunity emerges for Alex to regain a little of his prior fame when pop tartlet Cora Corman (Haley Bennett as a Britney clone complete with skimpy outfits and erotic dance moves) proclaims her love for his old songs and wants him to come up with a new tune for her current concert tour. The catch – he’s only got a couple of days to write the song. Further complicating his comeback hopes is the fact he writes music, but not lyrics.

That huge problem is solved when plant lady Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore) throws out a few lines while in the process of watering his plants to death. It seems Sophie wanted to be a writer at one point but was persuaded she didn’t have any talent by her college professor (a real slimebag played by non-slimebag Campbell Scott). Alex needs Sophie to put words to his music and, if they can manage to work together without driving each other crazy, there’s a possibility this could be the break both are desperately in need of…

Scott Porter and Hugh Grant in "Music and Lyrics."

Music and Lyrics benefits from charming performances by the ever-dependable romantic comedy veterans Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Grant and Barrymore make sweet music together (it’s sappy, but true) in this fluffy, feel-good movie. And for the first time on film we get to watch Hugh Grant dance, sing and play the piano, and surprisingly he does all three fairly well. Just seeing Grant in '80s fashions shaking his butt in a cheesy music video within the film is worth the price of admission. While the age difference between the two leads may be a bit distracting at first, given a chance Music and Lyrics really grows on you. Grant and Barrymore know exactly what audiences expect and both deliver the goods, despite the sometimes silly circumstances they're thrust into by writer/director Marc Lawrence.

Music and Lyrics also features a couple of really strong supporting performances, although the jury's still out on feature film newcomer Bennett. Kristen Johnston as Sophie’s sister/devoted Alex fan steals the show whenever she pops into the picture. Johnston and Barrymore don’t look anything alike, but that’s not the least bit important as that sisterly bond is somehow there. Brad Garrett nails the role of Alex’s friend and agent, grounding the goonyness that sometimes invades the film.

The film’s title is enough to let you know the movie will be full of catchy tunes, in this case supplied by Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne. I’ve developed a love/hate relationship with the movie’s songs as they pop into my mind at random times and drive me crazy by sticking around long enough to be annoying. Still, the songs are catchy and revisiting the '80s for a couple of hours is tolerable if not totally enjoyable.Music and Lyrics offers a little something for everyone while, of course, playing up to the women who dominate romantic comedy audiences. The chemistry works well between Grant and Barrymore and both seem to be having fun with the material. While Music and Lyrics doesn’t reinvent the romantic comedy wheel (or even move it forward much), it does provide just the right sort of escapist entertainment we’ve come to expect from films of this genre.

August Rush

2011-02-27T00:16:00.000-08:00

Listen, can you hear it?

The music, I can hear it every where

In the wind, in the air, in the light, it's all around us

All you have to do is to open yourself up, all you have to do is listen

Where I've grown up, they tried to stop me from hearing the music

But when I'm alone, it builds up from inside me

And I think if I could learn how to play it

They might hear me, they would know I was theirs and find me

Sometimes the world tries to knock it out of you

But, I believe in music the way that some people believe in fairy tales

I like to imagine that what I hear came from my mother and father

Maybe the notes I hear are the same ones they heard the night they met

Maybe that's how they'll find me

I believe that once upon the time long ago

They heard the music and followed it… (August Rush)

This film is one of the great movie musicals ever made. One proof was awarded an Academy Award in 2007.
This film tells the story of a boy of 12 years who have exceptional talent in music. This talent was inherited by both parents who have never seen and knew. This child's name is Evan Taylor, played by Freddie Highmore. Evan's genius in music really stands out from other friends in the orphanage.

In the life and rule in the orphanage prohibit all children to not listen to any music. In other words, the music talent will die in this orphanage. However, Evan can still enjoy the music, but not music in the strict sense. He was able to enjoy all types of music including that provided by nature. Wind, rain, the sound of water, is beautiful music for him. And at some time later this is music that will take him to meet with both parents.

Positive side of the musical bridled Evan in an orphanage just to make herself is a child who has an original musical talent. He was not affected by any kind of music that exist in the outside world. For him, music is the sound of heart, clarity of the day, and not about the genius of the mind. Music adala beauty and not any kind of complicated musical instrument made by man.

This then makes way Evans played a musical instrument to be very unusual. There is no default key used by other musicians. Evan just use instinct and his heart in playing music. This is what makes him different from others, making himself special. Whereas Evan never played any musical instrument before.

Long story short, Evan could show their natural musical talent on a stage show. At this stage he can also finally found the back of his parents. A final happy ending story compelling and touching.

Season of The Witch

2011-02-20T01:44:00.000-08:00

A former medieval knight (actually the 14th century during the crusades happen) again have to run a mission that took him to meet a witch who is very cunning and become the only hope of the world to face the forces of darkness. Belief as a crusader (Knights Cross) has vanished era eaten, and now the knights who called Behmen this should return to his hometown in central Europe which are currently being hit by outbreaks of "black". When looking for food in the area surrounding the palace of Marburg, Behmen Felson and his best friend was ordered by officials there to bring a young peasant woman who they believe is a witch that caused this outbreak occurred.

Apart from a few trailers that we see, there are several scenes that seemed too weird (funny) thing to do in movies like this.
For example when Nic Cage and Ron fought in the crusade fight number of people who succeeded in their suicide, the most to treat. We think it strange things done in a big war like the famous crusade.
Fortunately the story in this film is not a remake of the movie Halloween: Season of The Wicth who last played in 1982. If that does happen, it looks like Nic Cage's presence was still not enough to rescue this movie from being destroyed.

In addition, five people who will accompany Behmen is arguably not the people who deserve to accompany a knight in a mission critical. Karea in it there is only a priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), who are mourning knight (Ulrich Thomsen), fraudster (Stephen Graham), and the hard head (Robert Sheehan) and companion in arms Behmen.

Quantum of Solace

2011-01-28T05:08:00.000-08:00

This film is a movie about British secret agent James Bond 007's latest. Quantum of Solace is a continuation of the previous film, Casino Royale. And this is the only one James Bond films that continue the story and adventures of the previous films.

It must be imagined when we heard the movie about 007 this must be about the adventures of a tense, exciting scenes, chases, shoot shoot, a dangerous attraction, and of course beautiful women who always accompany this agent adventure anywhere. Some elements did indeed not get away from this film was first staged since the '60s. Adaptation is a novel by Ian Fleming could not leaving devices become binding strength of this film. Strength is what really captivate an audience and always awaited his presence.

The theme of this film really is an adventure for revenge. Bond (Daniel Craig) wants revenge for the death of his lover, Vesper Lind, who was killed by Dominic Greene (Mattieu Almaric). Greene himself was a leader of an organization Quantum in Bolivia who are planning a coup. The coup was executed by controlling the water sources in the country. With this water source, the mastery of a coup that he would run successfully, because the source of water is a basic and very expensive in that country.

In the midst of adventure, Bond accidentally met with a woman whose fate is more or less the same, which are both wanted revenge. The difference is this woman killed because of loss of his family who also had been killed by Greene. Camille (Olga Kurvlenko) in this film is the female partner of Bond.

Action-thriller action, whether it be on land, in air, in water, always coloring this film from beginning to end. Even so hectic with action scenes that do, rarely found there is a long conversation. Shooting each other, at each other, lunge lunged, destroying the furniture is quite luxurious and expensive. Also do not forget drag with racing-car models that are highly sophisticated devices. The point of this movie is really bringing tension to the tension in the hearts of the audience.

But tensions were paid off with resounding actions. Magnificence is of course not separated from the role of the film crew itself. Effect of a movement, fighting, taking pictures of the chase, all of it is the work that supports the success of this film. In terms of cinematography, this film certainly should get a special observation. This means that the movie flair, accuracy, courage from all the crew is a feat in itself. This is sometimes forgotten from a success of a movie. People will tend to see from the side of the main players, or devices used, or of the plot. But very rarely be visited is how the cameraman struggles, and all his crew to take pictures as good as possible, even from the point that "impossible". Not infrequently they even had an accident in the making of a film.

Should not be forgotten, too, in the Bond film 007 is a sophisticated technology tools. This time it was so intently in the eyes of the audience was a Sony Ericsson. Of course this is done, because this Handphone manufacturers took part in financing this movie.

What distinguishes this film from earlier ones is the Bond look relatively more cold and cruel. This film does not exploit the scene intimacy or even "indehoi" with the women. Did not even stare at each other tenderly. This makes this film more macho. so do not expect to see an intimate scene in a movie before. Padalah Bond woman this time of course lebig exotic and interesting, because it has brown skin and more natural. For many, the Bond this time is less elegant, less Womanizer, or lack of stylists, but overall, this was the turning point of a Bond adventure itself. Bond was a very cool super hero even though not very handsome.

You could say this movie is a movie a very good end of the year. It is characterized by dollars that have been obtained from the screenings. 40.7 million U.S. $. Incredible! This is the biggest film revenues this year. The plan the next 2 years there will be a continuation of the secret agent movie this. We'll wait the next action from the James Bond ....

Babylon A.D

2010-12-12T05:00:00.000-08:00

Like the other film, starring Van Diesel, the film also demonstrates physical strength with a pump action andrenalin. This film director commendable to adjust the hard and cold character by choosing Van Diesel in the starring role.It is reported that Toorop (Vin Diesel) is a mercenary who'd do anything to get money. At one point he offered to pick up and escort a girl from China to America. This mission is given by Gorsky (Gerarg Depardieu), a boss mavia, drug dealers and weapons. Time pick-up and to the United States is 6 days. Six days that must pass through five different countries and different adventure suspense.

The first country is China (Mongolia), where a girl named Aurora (Thierry Mellanie) live. Aurora Place is located in a "temple" that is hidden. For decades this girl live in it and have never come out. He just knew Rebecca (Micelle Yeoh) as a nanny. After pick up Aurora and Rebecca, they then came out of Mongolia to Kazakhstan through the journey overland. Upon arrival there was the arrival of their already known the other party. They spied on, followed by their gestures. However Toorop not heed them. They have rushed to the train station to go to Russia. In this TV station oddity that happens the first time. Aurora, the girl who first saw the outside world, to feel himself watched a lot of people, he feels everyone wants to do evil in itself. Finally she fled in fear and ran against a crowd of people who flocked to the station.

Toorop and Rebecca scrambling to catch up. In this pursuit when chasing a big explosion at the station occurred. Dozens of people become victims. The three were lucky to survive and continue the journey to Russia with the next train.Once in Russia, they can not simply be separated from those who follow. Toorop immediately booked 3 tickets, 3 passport and 2 motor snow. The next incident could be expected, Toorop and Rebecca pitted the strength to keep Aurora from the spies. When the fight was over just note that they are the messengers of Aurora's father. Aurora itself also recently found out that he has a father. Previously he was always convinced Rebecca that her father had died. The next story, they immediately go to a carpet of snow in the entourage of the population, women, children, old and young. They apparently have the same goal. In the middle of the snow, came a mysterious submarine. They quickly scramble to get into the ship. If not quickly, then their presence would be detected radar foreign parties and will be destroyed. Many of those who have plunged into the icy cold. Carers submarine that was very cruel, do not hesitate to shoot people that are slow and she did not like. But three of them lucky to get into the submarine. Seeing the incident, the Aurora is very angry and immediately seized control of the ship.

Surprisingly he could run the ship, but this is the first time he climbed into a submarine.Inside this vessel Rebecca told Toorop that Aurora since childhood has its advantages and peculiarities. Since the age of 2 years he was able to speak fluently. He also can find an incident outside his knowledge.Their next destination is Canada. In this place then Toorop radar injects fluid into the neck. This liquid than as a radar, as well as a means to avoid detection for entry into New York. Because Toorop blacklisted police in New York, because of riots and "crime" was doing.Arriving in New York, they had been awaited by children Gorzky fruit. They want to immediately take Elena and brought before the Gorzky. But on the other hand there are also men Elena's father. Inside the hotel, too. Elena examined a doctor. This doctor who first discovered the wonders of self-discrepancy and Elena. The result of this examination time was Elena pregnant. She was pregnant with twins, but Elena is a virgin.

How could Elena get pregnant when she was a virgin and never touch with a man too?Not wanting to let go of Elena, the fluid that is injected into the neck radar Toorop enabled. Naturally released bazooka bullet Gorzky men will chase Toorop. Triangle fierce battle took place, between groups of Toorop, Gorzky subordinates, and subordinates Elena's father. Rebecca finally tertembah and died on the spot. While Aurora eventually have to shoot Toorop to fool both sides. But in the end Toorop saved by Elena's father, Dr. Doken J. Apparently Elena is a research project "Knowlight" between father and mother Elena. But in the end they are also scrambling to get Elena. Finally Gorzky Elena's mother was killed by firing missiles with precise distance when Gorzky was in the tank luxury.

Then he also killed her own husband.Elena finally gave birth to twins and Toorop found in a remote village. Once through contact with the men shoot the mother Elena, then finally take care of both children Toorop Elena them.It is not intended to justify, but in general the film is not semenantang like xXx example. Flow and its action is not total. Even the plot tend to be boring for an action film.Sinematografinya also a bit harsh, if not exactly ugly, compared to the action film with another actor Vin Diesel. Like when there was an explosion on the train. Blow and serpihak that there are so subtle animation. It is not meant to judge, but you could say that this movie is not as good as desired audience.
